LIGHT THE TORCH Announce First Ever UK Headline Shows!

Following a monumental tour opening for In Flames across the UK, Light The Torch have confirmed that they will be returning in as little as two weeks for their first ever UK Headline shows. The band formerly known as Devil You Know will be hitting British shores as a headliner for the first time since the release of Revival , their first record under the moniker of Light The Torch and a previous Worship Metal Album of the Week recommendation!

Frontman Howard Jones comments  “We couldn’t be more excited to announce our first headlining shows in the UK! Let’s start this relationship the right way and spend some time together! Come to one or even better, all of the shows…this is going to get rowdy!”

Light The Torch  have been confirmed to support  In Flames  on their upcoming UK & EU tour alongside  Norma Jean.  The U.S. modern metal heavyweights will be opening up each night across the 12 date tour that takes in shows across both the UK and mainland Europe including a notable stop off at London’s Roundhouse on 5th April.

Frontman Howard Jones comments on the newly announced run “It’s time! Light The Torch is truly excited for our EU/UK Tour with the mighty In Flames and Norma Jean! We couldn’t ask for a better way to support our album Revival overseas for the very first time. You’ve been given fair warning…prepare yourselves!”

These battery banks are very light and thin and offer a decent amount of power for their size and weight. Yes there are plenty of options over 20,000amh but for the size and weight of these they are a great option

I have used many different kinds of lighters over the years, from the usual lighter fuel/gas type, to piezoelectric; this lighter is the first one which doesn't have to be re-fuelled by liquids or gases, nor refuse to work because the piezo-crystal fails. It will light my weed burner immediately. The lighter is a well made and impressive looking item, complete with a lanyard to hang it round the neck so that, in my case, when the weed-burner goes out it can be easily restarted. The plasma stalk can be pulled out of the case to a suitable length. When depleted of charge, the lighter is plugged in to a USB socket via a USB-C cord (supplied), and left alone 'til done. All in all, this is a splendid little device and rather safer than the chemically fuelled others, and more reliable than a lighter that squeezes a crystal to get a spark!.

I don't smoke, but it lights candles for birthday cakes very well. Also, first time using torchdirect - would use them again all went very smoothly

I had stopped using my torch due to every Time I carried it, it would accidentally be activated due to the poor design and positioning of the on off switch. Due to the torch getting so hot when on, the accidental switch ons have burnt a hole in car seats and uniform. This pouch has enabled me to use the torch again, but I feel the torch should have been supplied with at for the cost I payed.

Torch Direct were brilliant, great comms and super fast delivery.

The torch itself is fantastic. Small but powerful. An excellent item for use travelling or in a grab bag.

It is a Good quality well made torch. The strong magnet holds it in place. I am pleased with it and the excellent service from torch direct.

Great torch

This useful set of lighting units - four of them - are each connected to a control-cum-battery unit, the battery being rechargeable. They are constructed from good quality alloy, and other materials for the bendy parts. They have a reassuring quality feel about them. A nice touch is that you can have the control unit engraved, say, with your initials. Although I have not used any of the components "in anger" as yet, it is good to have a set of different lighting units for different purposes.

Nice discharge characteristics with high capacity, still early use but they seem to be very good. Great service and next day delivery too!

Everything about it, settings and length of charge, it’s all good, my Nitecore T4K is a tool I use everyday.

I had an older 2D Maglite for work and treated myself to a newer 3D one for home and I'm not disappointed in the slightest. Torch Direct even laser engraved a message on the handle for free! Thanks and a happy customer over here.

Light The Torch

Time fortifies the bonds between us. Since emerging in 2018, Light The Torch have grown stronger in lockstep together as a band and as friends. Through this growth, the Los Angeles, CA trio— Howard Jones [vocals], Francesco Artusato [guitar], and Ryan Wombacher [bass]—only enhanced every aspect of their signature sound. Upheld by head-spinning seven-string virtuosity, yet also anchored to skyscraping melodies, the group crafted twelve no-nonsense and no-holds-barred metallic anthems on their 2021 second full-length album, You Will Be The Death of Me .

“The past few years have helped me to become much more personal in my writing,” explains Howard. “Even though I’m kind of a loner, this band became real family. My experiences with Ryan and Fran inside and outside of the band truly bonded us. I think it shows in this album, it truly represents who we are as a group.”

“Every second on this record was thought-out,” adds Fran. “Howard’s performance gives me chills, because it feels so alive. There’s so much emotion in it. I know the guy very well at this point, and our friendship is a big part of Light The Torch.”

That friendship cemented over the course of the past three years. The group shot out of the gate as a contender on their full-length debut, Revival . It bowed at #4 on the Billboard US Independent Albums Chart and at #10 on the Hard Rock Albums Chart in addition to receiving acclaim from Revolver, Outburn, and many more. “Calm Before the Storm” racked up a staggering 14.5 million Spotify streams, while “The Safety of Disbelief” remains one of SiriusXM Octane’s all-time most requested songs. They also crisscrossed North America and Europe on tour with the likes of Trivium , Avatar , In Flames , Ice Nine Kills , Killswitch Engage and August Burns Red to name a few.

Album review: Light The Torch – You Will Be The Death Of Me

Howard Jones returns with a second round of heaviness from post-Killswitch Engage band Light The Torch…

When Howard Jones left Killswitch Engage in 2012, it was, he says, because the anxiety and stress of being on tour eventually meant that, "I physically and mentally couldn’t get onstage," an issue not helped by keeping on top of living with Type-2 diabetes. Listening to Light The Torch 's second album, it certainly wasn't because of musical differences. Though not a copy of Killswitch, they're nevertheless a similarly huge-sounding, stompy metal vessel in which Howard's massive voice really shows its power.

The moments of full-bore metal – opener More Than Dreaming and the chonky Denying The Sin – batter solidly. But more often they lean into melody, letting testosterone take a passenger seat to a more obvious skill with a tune. Let Me Fall Apart, Wilting In The Light and Death Of Me are gigantic songs that find Howard in his sonorous element, big on riffs while easy on the ear, without being cheesy American radio rock. The keyboard washes are reminiscent of that period around 2003 where every Scandinavian melodic death metal band ( In Flames , Soilwork , Hypocrisy) had at least one singalong banger per album, and where you expect a song called I Hate Myself to be a nihilistic blaster, it's a more reflective moment in which Howard sounds as good as he ever did.

It does get a bit samey towards the end, and a cover of Sign Your Name by Terence Trent D’Arby sounds like a filler track if you're not familiar with the original (in which case it's actually rather good), but it's good to have Howard back. It would have been a shame to have a self-evident talent like his lost to incompatibility with touring life. Far from being the death of him, Light The Torch have proven a comfortable home.

Verdict: 3/5
