Background [ ]

During a press conference for Super Bowl XLVII on January 31, 2013, Beyoncé revealed that she would make an announcement after her performance at the halftime show and added that "fans should just stay tuned to see". Beyoncé announced the tour and its name after her performance at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on February 3. The tour's title refers to her marriage with Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter. However, the official poster of the tour with the name written on it was leaked on the ticket's website Live Nation prior to the official announcement. [2] It shows Beyoncé wearing a Victorian golden royal top and a crown, referencing Queen Elizabeth I. Rosie Swash of The Guardian described it as a "visual stamp of authority". Along with the tour's name, initial dates in Europe and North America were announced, and later more were added in Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. Following the announcement of the tour's title, Beyoncé was criticized by several critics and feminists alike for entitling it after her husband's name as she has been regarded as a feminist. Questions were raised about how Beyoncé agreed to be known as a bride of another celebrity person. During an interview with Vogue , Beyoncé described herself as a "modern-day feminist" and further spoke about her decision to reference her husband's name: "I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been..... It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, 'OK, this is what you were born to do'. The purpose of my body became completely different." After the second European leg was announced on December 11, 2013, a new poster was revealed and used for the promotion of all the newly added shows. [8]

Broadcasts and recordings [ ]

Professional footage from the tour was officially released on April 22, 2013 through Beyoncé's YouTube channel and website. It showed the opening moments of the show and performances of "Run the World (Girls)", "Love on Top" and "Halo" during the first concerts. A series of eight behind-the-scenes footage of the rehearsals and preparations for the tour were released on Beyoncé's website on May 21, 2013.During "The Sound of Change Live" charity concert held at Twickenham Stadium in London on June 1, 2013, various clips and performances were broadcast worldwide to over 150 countries which were believed to have reached over 1 billion people.

A thirty second trailer for the tour was released on June 24, 2013 containing live vocals of Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied" and a dubstep audio mix. It showed footage from the tour's commercial and multiple snippets of live performances from the show. On August 29, 2013, Beyoncé posted a video titled "Bey Good" on her official website showing scenes of her with fans backstage and during the concerts. [100]  During Beyoncé's performance at the Made in America Festival, the two opening songs—"Run the World (Girls)" and "End of Time"—were streamed live via YouTube. Beyoncé's performance at Rock in Rio was broadcast in its entirety, and also streamed via YouTube. [102]  On August 22, 2013, Beyoncé released a black-and-white promotional retro video for the tour dates in Brazil. It was set to Frank Sinatra's version of the song "The Girl from Ipanema". The video featured the singer in a bikini swimming in the water, writing Brazil in the sand and relaxing on a hammock as well as various shots of the city.

In March 2014, a new promotional video was released midway through the second European leg and first leg of the 2014 tour. This was the first venture of the tour to include new performances and songs from Beyoncé's recently released self-titled fifth studio album. The video showed professional clips from some new performances and also featured a variety of backstage activity from the revamped tour. A video titled "Goodbye to The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" was uploaded by the singer on her official YouTube channel on March 27, 2014 showing portions of live performances from the final leg of the tour, behind the scenes moments and visits to cities as "XO" was played in the background. In June 2014 it was announced that HBO will air  Beyonce: X10 , a 10-episode series of four-minute segments of concert performances debuting weekly before new episodes of  True Blood  starting June 29. The performances were captured in various cities during the tour. They are included on a bonus disc in the platinum edition release of Beyoncé's 2013 self-titled album, which was released on November 24, 2014.

Beyonce Wraps ‘Mrs. Carter’ Tour With High-Flying Decadence

By Stacey Anderson

Stacey Anderson

“I want to celebrate tonight – are you ready to celebrate?” Beyoncé  told her sold-out crowd in Brooklyn on Sunday night, grinning at the resulting shrieks. “This is not the show to be cool; I want you to get lost and dance like children.” The pop superstar would spend the next two hours singing, dancing and maturely gyrating at the Barclays Center, as the show marked the final North American date of her lengthy “Mrs. Carter World Tour.”

The Ultimate Guide to Beyoncé’s Surprise New Album

The upbeat setlist was heavy on her more recent hits – especially the chopped-and-screwed pop of 2011’s  4 . She opened with “Run the World (Girls),” which gave way to the sultry “End of Time” and then moved to cuts from the bipolar double album I Am…Sasha Fierce . “If I Were a Boy” was crooned over the string refrain of the Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” (courtesy of her all-female, 11-piece backing band), “Why Don’t You Love Me?” melted into a call-and-response funk flirtation and the smash single “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” inspired gleeful renditions of her iconic, hair-flinging choreography both onstage and off.

Of course, half the appeal of Beyoncé the artist (and her excellent, sensual new album  Beyoncé ) is the visual sumptuousness. Adding to the pageantry, pillars of fire and waterfalls of gold sparks shot from the stage in constant decadence. Eight costume changes alone served as their own workout; they skewed heavily toward glittering leotards, with one brief instance of a lime-green, leopard-spotted perplexity that suggested a seasick Kermit the Frog. But the highlight of it all came mid-set as she decided to fly, stepping into a harness and floating across Barclays’ sweaty troposphere to a B-shaped stage in the center of the floor. There, she hugged a toddler hoisted to her from the front row and offered the lone Destiny’s Child throwback, “Survivor.”

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

The tour closer offered only one Beyoncé song, the stadium-ready orchestral swoon of “XO.”  The lone new track was delivered with visible emotion, and seemingly with a spontaneity absent from the rest of the precise operation. “It was written to my fans,” she told the crowd before leading them in the titular arm gestures of the charming Coney Island video , ribbons of spotlights fluttering around her. She followed with “Halo” and wished the audience a merry Christmas before yelling, “I’m officially off!” She threw up her hands in Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella diamond, a final nod to her empowerment in their marriage at the palace he helped built, and strutted offstage to be Mrs. Carter for a smaller audience once more.

Breaking Down Beyonce's 'The Mrs. Carter Show' World Tour Announcement Outfit

mrs carter show world tour

A still from Beyonce's O2 Priority TV ad.

Photo: O2UKOfficial YouTube Channel

As if Beyonce didn't give us enough to talk about with her leveling Super Bowl halftime performance last night (complete with a Destiny's Child reunion!), King Bey has revealed that come April, she'll be kicking off her The Mrs. Carter Show world tour . The divine Miss Bey will be hitting up major cities across Europe and the United States this spring and summer, spreading the love unleashed unto the New Orleans Superdome all along the way. How exactly did Beyonce lay the big news on us? A King Bey-themed promotional package wherein she is DRIPPING in Thierry Mugler Haute Couture , gold, and the richest cobalt blue. She released a TV spot for the UK, giving us the opportunity to see the look in motion. Though she only really wears one outfit, there's SO much going on here, we're taking it upon ourselves to break it down for you.

LACED-UP CORSET

White-gloved handmaids lace King Bey up in a glittering gold Thierry Mugler Haute Couture SS 1997 corset that girl looks positively sewn into. The piece is exciting to us not just because it's encrusted with multi-colored gems and dangling with chandelier-esque resplendence but ALSO because the striking exaggerated silhouettes of Thierry Mugler will forever remind us of the French designer's boss lady Sasha Fierce creations for Bey's I Am...World Tour . Will Mugler be dressing Mrs. Carter for the 2013 tour? We sure hope so.

MRS. CARTER NECKLACE

You can't reference Mrs. Carter without giving a nod to the Mister. Jay-Z makes a cameo in the promo video via, well... a cameo in Bey's medallion-laden necklace. His serious mug is surrounded by clear, red, and deep blue rhinestones and a gorgeous pointed gold manicure. As it should be.

GILDED CRINOLINE ASSEMBLY

On top of the vintage Mugler corset, Beyonce wears a wide-set crinoline to jut her robes and skirts out dramatically. Typically an under-piece, Bey wears this badboy as outerwear, and accordingly, the body cage is rendered in gold.

FASCINATOR CROWN

We're not sure how this tiny fascinator crown is staying put on Bey's curly mane since it looks like it weighs at least 10 pounds with the bananas amount of jewels slathered all over it. Nevertheless, it defies gravity, sitting on her dome for the entire short, glinting and gleaming with every move.

ROBED AND READY

Beyonce shrugs on a luxe royal blue satin robe with bell sleeves over her gilded underpinnings. She's also handed an opulent scepter. You know, for all the emphatic ruling and government lobbying she's about to do.

ATTACHING THE TRAIN

Her handmaidens apply the most luxurious finishing touch: a giant red velvet train bordered with white spotted fur.

EMBELLISHED BOOTS

Beyonce steps out of her changing quarters in a pair of red thigh-high boots. They're embellished with flourishes of foliage and contrast lacing all the way to the tippy top. Also, we would absolutely snap our ankles on those gold stiletto heels, but this woman treads in them with ease. Preach.

RED-LIPPED AND REGAL

Her makeup look is pristine with light flushing around the cheeks, natural tawny eyes, and a BOLD red lip which only stands out that much more against her fanned out, gold, neck collar. And the fact that we weren't able to see her face for the first 10 seconds of the 1 minute spot only heightens how alien-status, devastatingly beautiful she is.

KING BEY'S COMPLETE LOOK

Put it all together and how does it go? BLADOW. Here's Beyonce's complete King Bey look. Watch it all come together in the TV ad spot below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Beyonce: X10: The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour

Watch Beyonce: X10: The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour

Beyonce: X10: The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour is a vibrant and energetic concert series showcased on HBO and stars the queen of R&B, Beyonce. The show was filmed during the European leg of Beyonce's Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in 2014. It embodies the essence of Beyonce's incredible talent, her showmanship and determination to leave a lasting impression.

The visual and sound quality of the show is impressive, something that can be expected from a brand like HBO. It features a stage designed like a grand castle, complete with the grandeur of a royal family. Beyonce is wearing a custom-designed sequined one-piece suit that sparkles under the light. The show is broken down into ten segments, lasting for about four minutes each, with a new chart-topping song performed by Beyonce.

The show starts with "Haunted," setting the stage for the evening. The band and dancers dressed in black, showcasing the hauntingly slow instrumental introduction. The eerie images initially projected disappear, replaced by Beyonce draped in a black cloak with a headdress, tracing the line between darkness and light, culminating in an exciting and theatrically enthralling masterpiece.

The second song features Beyonce performing "Drunk in Love," one of her most popular hits. The song begins with the lyrics, "I've been drinking, I've been drinking." The participation of the audience is evident as they sing along with her. The cameras capture Beyonce's sensual moves set against a backdrop of a significant screen filled with dazzling visuals, creating a magnetic aura that is impossible to ignore.

Later in the show, Beyonce takes on "Flawless," featuring rapper Nicki Minaj. Beyonce knows how to command a stage, packing the performance with an impressive vocal range, along with her fierce attitude, showcasing female empowerment.

Beyonce: X10: The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour on HBO, also features the timelessly classic, "Crazy In Love," one of Beyonce's iconic songs from her Destiny's Child days. The song was newly arranged, offering a fresh take on the original hit with a team of talented musicians and backup singers. Beyonce's stage presence is empowered, and the atmosphere is electric.

"Partition" is among the most popular and provocative performances of the show, featuring an outstanding pole routine. It promises dedication and hard work to arrive at such a high level of pure athleticism. It shows off the amazing, toned physique of the artist in a way that verges on the gloriously sensual, commanding the attention of the audience and the cameras.

Aside from her singing capabilities, Beyonce's performance of "XO" shows her softer side. The song, which features Queen Bey's soft and soothing vocal stylings, is accompanied by nothing more than the strumming of an acoustic guitar. The simplicity of the arrangement is a testament to Beyonce's talents as a singer and performer.

In "Heaven," Beyonce tugs at your heartstrings. The performance is a tribute to the loss of her beloved friend, who passed away from cancer. The tone is sentimental, heartfelt, and solemn. Beyonce looks stunning in a white gown as she sings with raw emotion.

Beyonce: X10: The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour from HBO is a reflection of what Queen Bey is about: a true performer who knows how to deliver. She can dazzle you with her charm, make you feel the passion in her music, and leave a lasting impression that is hard to forget. Fans will appreciate the close-up views offered in this show, showing off the incredible showmanship of Beyonce, delivered in crystal clear high-definition. The concert shows just how much hard work goes into world tours, making this a must-watch for any fan.

The Best Moments From Beyoncé's World Tour

mrs carter show world tour

Beyoncé couldn't help but get choked up during her final show on The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Portugal on Thursday. She began to cry as she addressed the crowd, saying, "In the past year, we've been through so much together — the Super Bowl, shooting the videos, all of these shows. When I first started the tour, my baby [Blue Ivy] was not even walking yet." She continued, "I just want you to know that I am so lucky. I'm giving y'all an ugly cry! Thank y'all again. Thank you for allowing me to have a career. When I fall, you lift me up. When I'm hungry, you feed me. And I just want to give you my light."

Beyoncé has performed in over 130 cities around the world since kicking off her tour in April 2013; after her surprise visual album, Beyoncé , dropped in December, she revived the second leg of the tour with brand-new music, costumes, and sets. She's even been joined on stage by her husband, Jay Z , who popped up to duet "Drunk in Love" with Bey in London recently. The couple, along with 2-year-old Blue , have traveled the globe together and made time for some fun family vacations in Europe and South America. It's been a long road for Bey, and we're looking back at the best moments from The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour over the past year. Source: Tumblr user Beyoncé

Apple Music 100 Best Albums

The Queen draws inspiration from a shifting pop landscape—then remakes it in her image.

When Beyoncé’s self-titled fifth album landed unannounced on the iTunes store in December 2013, the pop world trembled. Here was one of music’s biggest stars dispensing with the normal prolonged rollout of a major work, instead simultaneously alerting people to it and releasing it. But BEYONCÉ would have been a career achievement no matter how it came out: Across its 14 tracks, Beyoncé pushes herself artistically and emotionally, opening up about her insecurities, her sexuality, and her happiness over songs that demonstrate the strength and versatility of her voice.

Pop’s sound had shifted at the turn of the decade, with electropop-influenced tracks taking the spaces on radio and on the charts where Beyoncé and other R&B-leaning artists had ruled during the 2000s. On BEYONCÉ , the singer and mogul showed that, radio play or no, she was still a member of pop’s ruling class—and she did so not by flipping pop’s script, but by drawing inspiration from its most enticing aspects to write a new playbook.

“I was working around the clock, trying to unlock the Beyoncé code.”

Ryan Tedder

BEYONCÉ did feature culture-ruling collaborators like Drake, who plays B’s foil on the skeletal “Mine,” and Frank Ocean, who locks up with Beyoncé on the sumptuous Pharrell Williams production “Superpower.” But Beyoncé’s willingness to explore music’s edges resulted in the album existing on its own plane, aware of the pop world’s trends but diverging from them in thrilling ways. BEYONCÉ represents a major turning point for Beyoncé, beginning the stage of her career where she would define pop stardom—on her own schedule and on her own terms.

Travis Kelce

50 cent reacts to diddy's apology over cassie ventura hotel assault video, trending on billboard.

As only Weezy could, he casually hit the stage smoking a blunt while rocking a Gucci hat, a black long-sleeve with baggy Gucci shorts and combat boots. “Trav, you brought ’em out tonight. One time for my motherf—-g n—a Travie, man,” Wayne said while taken aback by the staggering numbers in the audience, which seemed to be more than he anticipated. “God I didn’t even see ’em. Up top, make some f—–g noise, damn!”

The energy was taken to another level when Weezy brought out his Welcome 2 ColleGrove running mate and frequent collaborator 2 Chainz.

After running through “Rich As F–k,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end even joined the performance of “Duffle Bag Boy.” Kelce fittingly brought a Louis Vuitton duffle bag with him, but inside was the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which Chainz briefly rented from the three-time Super Bowl champ.

Earlier in the day, Kelce exclusively revealed to Billboard that “Duffle Bag Boy” was one of his all-time favorite songs and remains a pre-game playlist staple for him to this day before hitting the field.

Playaz Circle’s “Duffle Bag Boy” arrived in 2007 and reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Outside of the Tity Boi cameo, Lil Wayne kept the setlist similar to his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour from last year, which included fan-favorites like “Hustler Musik,” “I’m Goin In,” “Lollipop,” “Let the Beat Build,” “Blunt Blowin,” “Fireman,” “Mrs. Officer,” “We Be Steady Mobbin'” and “The Motto” before wrapping up with “A Milli.”

Weezy enjoyed himself so much throughout the hour-long set that he hopes to be performing at Kelce Jam 2025, if Travis will have him. “Trav, I don’t know if you do this every year. But make sure I’m on the list every f—–g year,” he pleaded with the Chiefs star.

As one fan bluntly put it while leaving the venue as Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” serenaded those left, “That was f—–g awesome.”

Watch a live stream of the entire festival on X . Lil Wayne’s set begins around the 4:11:00 mark.

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour promises to be the entertainer's most ambitious undertaking to date.  It is expected to be bigger in scope than any of her previous shows. Slated to run for almost one year, the second wave of the tour is planned for Latin America, Australia and Asia.

Following her historic performance tonight at the Pepsi SuperBowl XLVII Halftime Show, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Beyonce officially returns to a full-time touring schedule, her first since the I AM…WORLD TOUR in 2009, with a new, bolder state-of-the-art production.

Beyonce's last tour, the critically acclaimed and incredibly successful, I AM…WORLD TOUR was ranked #1 on Billboard's Hot Tour chart.  The show thrilled more than 1.1 million fans at more than one hundred shows in 32 countries and six continents across the globe.

Beyonce is one of the most widely recognized and highly respected women in pop culture.  A solo recording artist, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman, she has released four #1 solo albums and has sold over 75 million albums worldwide. Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including 16 Grammy Awards.  Billboard named her the Top Female Artist and Top Radio Songs Artist of the 2000s decade. The Recording Industry Association of America also recognized Beyonce as the Top Certified Artist of the 2000s.

The critics have consistently praised her energetic stage shows likening her to the best entertainers of the past with her own brand of sass and class that makes her the artist of the future.  "Beyonce has a breathtaking need to entertain," said Ben Ratliff of the New York Times and Chantal Eustace of the Vancouver Sun summed it up writing, 'Beyonce twisted all the theatrics into her musical performance flawlessly, demonstrating her many talents as an artist."

On February 16, HBO will premiere Life Is But A Dream , an intimate feature-length documentary film directed and produced by Beyonce for Parkwood Entertainment.  The film provides unprecedented access into the on and off-stage world of the entertainer.
