Captions in this article:

“I’m That Girl”

  • “I pull up in these clothes, look so good / ‘Cause I’m in that ho”
  • “It’s not the diamonds / It’s not the pearls / I’m that girl”
  • “I didn’t want this power”
  • “Such a heathen, why they let me outside”

What better way to kick off this hugely anticipated album from music’s very own It Girl than with a sensual tune about all things sex and confidence. Thank you, Beyoncé.

  • “Confident, damn she lethal”
  • “Might I suggest you dont f*ck with my sis”
  • “Comfortable in my skin / Feet up above your sins”
  • “Paint the world p*ssy pink”

Think “Run The World (Girls)”, but darker and sexier. Transitioning from the first track of the album seamlessly, “Cozy” is another anthem for confidence, empowerment, and loving yourself — a major theme for Renaissance.

“Alien Superstar”

  • “Stilettos kicking vintage crystal off the bar”
  • “Category: bad b*tch”
  • “I’m too classy to be touched, I paid them all in dust”
  • “If that’s your man, then why he over here?”

You know TFW a song takes you to an ethereal state of mind? Well, “Alien Superstar” fits into this category perfectly , plus it’s bound to become a Friday night dance floor classic with its catchy melody and lyrics. And the fact the song finishes on the line “If that’s your man, then why he over here?” Iconic.

  • “I’m in the mood to f*ck somethin’ up”
  • “Unapologetic when we f*ck up the night”
  • “Bet you you’ll elevate / Bet you you’ll meet god”
  • “Come and cuff it, baby”

Oh, Beyoncé knew exactly what she was doing when creating this ultimate dance anthem: a mix of pop and funk that has produced a song so good, you will have no choice but to get up and dance in the club.

  • “Only double lines we cross is dollar signs”
  • “Wait, I hear you just got paid, make it rain”
  • “She more Cancún, he more Saint-Tropez”
  • “That’s that Kodak energy”

“ ENERGY ” is precisely what you’d expect from a song with this name, an energy-packed bop with a dose of the political, featuring lyrics like “Votin’ out 45, don’t get outta line” and “Cause them Karens just turned into terrorists”.

“Break My Soul”

  • “I just quit my job / I’m gonna find new drive”
  • “Bey is back and I’m sleepin’ real good at night”
  • “The queens in the front and the doms in the back”
  • “You said you outside, but you ain’t that outside”

I mean, we’ve already mentioned that “ Break My Soul ” is the song to quit your job to, but it’s also a certified Beyoncé bop with an abundance of quotable lyrics.

“Church Girl”

  • “Nobody can judge me but me”
  • “Church girls acting loose, bad girls acting snotty”
  • “I see them grey sweats, I see a blank check”
  • “Must be the cash ‘cause it ain’t your face”

Showing off her unparalleled vocal range, Beyoncé has gifted the world this spiritual-feeling tune that many are dubbing a “twerk anthem”. We have no choice but to agree, TBH.

“Plastic Off The Sofa”

  • “It’s the way you wear your emotions on both of your sleeves”
  • “I think you’re so cool (Even though I’m cooler than you)”
  • “It’s the way you want one more kiss after you said you were leavin’”
  • “The rest of the world is strange, stay in our lane”

A softer melody flows through “Plastic Off The Sofa” compared to the other tracks on the album, one that will tug at your heartstrings with its emotional vocals and lyrics. One for the lovers of love.

“Virgo’s Groove”

  • “A psychic hit me, told me we got s*it to do”
  • “I need more nudity and ecstasy”
  • “Talk to me nice”
  • “Good lord, baby, don’t you ever switch it up”

The transition from “Plastic Off The Sofa” to “Virgo’s Groove” may be one of the best on Renaissance and shows off Beyoncé’s undeniable skill when it comes to vocals and the runs she’s capable of. At just over six minutes long, “Virgo’s Groove” is the longest song on the album and is yet another funk-laden tune, with sensual lyrics describing being in love.

  • “Move out the way / I’m with my girls and we all need space”
  • “When the queen come through, part like the Red Sea”
  • “It’s a home run when the team touch base”
  • “Who this girl in the back of the room?”

Beyoncé is truly in her dance era. “Move” is for all the girls who love to get down and dance and don’t care who knows it — if anything they need space for their moves. An anthem of friendship, the lyrics are serving confidence, sexy, and fun.

  • “Only a real one could tame me / Only the radio could play me”
  • “Whole lotta texting with no conversations”
  • “Your face card never declines”

Queen Bey loves to experiment with different styles of music, and with “Heated”, we get to hear a bit of that Beyoncé rap that we heard on Lemonade .

  • “Ass getting thicker / Cash getting thicker”
  • “She say she on a diet / Girl, you better not lose that ass though”
  • “You gotta make a fold out to fit a magazine, right”

A slower and darker vibe, “Thique” is another Renaissance song that will have you getting up and moving your body, and feeling pretty great doing it.

“All Up In Your Mind”

  • “I’ll go and do the time if it means I’ll make you mine”
  • “It may hurt at first ‘cause Imma make you work”
  • “He know I’m a f*cking problem”

A heavy base start with the strong presence of synths giving it a slightly ‘80s vibe, “All Up In Your Mind” is an extremely sensual track that builds up throughout the song, growing faster and faster until it hits the transition to “America Has A Problem”.

“America Has A Problem”

  • “I’m supplying my man, I’m in demand soon as I land”
  • “Make you wait a whole week for me”
  • “Your ex still a dope, but it ain’t crack enough”

With this track’s title being “America Has A Problem”, you may very well have thought this to be a political song, but oh no, that’s where you’d be wrong. Beyoncé loves love (and Jay-Z, clearly) and she will absolutely sing about it over the course of her album.

“Pure/Honey”

  • “Bad b*tches to the left / Money b*tches to the right”
  • “It should cost a billion to look this good”
  • “All the pretty boys to the floor”
  • “Don’t my girls look so yummy?”

“Pure/Honey” elicits images of Voguing and catwalk energy, and we’re absolutely here for it. With lyrics like “It should cost a billion to look this good”, we have no further words — just listen.

“Summer Renaissance”

  • “I wanna house you and make you take my name”
  • “I just wanna thug you, the category is Bey”
  • “Sorry ‘bout yesterday, now the sweet stuff”
  • “So elegant and raunchy, this haute couture I’m flaunting”

Sampling Donna Summer? Icon behaviour. Yes, summer may nearly be over, but this song deserves to be played outside under the summer sun, with a fruity drink and pals in hand. We don’t make the rules, sorry.

The best lyrics from Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' to use as Instagram captions

Beyoncé's seventh studio album dropped on July 29. The theme uniting the 16 songs of "Renaissance " are, to varying degrees, self-love and celebrating yourself — or as Bey would put it, being "cozy" with yourself.

Think back to the lyrics from the first single off the album, "Break My Soul ." The ethos of that song, essentially, is to free yourself. She's singing about quitting your job — but the sentiment can be applied to anything holding you back.

"And I just quit my job / I’m gonna find new drive / Damn, they work me so damn hard / Work by nine, then off past five," Beyoncé sings, inspiring actual people to leave their jobs .

What to know about 'Renaissance'

  • Beyoncé is releasing her first solo album in 6 years. Here's everything we know
  • Why Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ is getting everyone to consider quitting work— plus the full lyrics
  • How to listen to Beyoncé's new album, ‘Renaissance’

This ethos is reflected in the actual rhythm of the album, which is full of dance songs; not a ballad in sight. These are songs to dance to in a crowded room or by yourself when you need a pick-me-up. Songs to remind yourself that you're alive. Unapologetically erotic, the lyrics of "Renaissance" are grounded in the pleasures of the body — and the rhythms are concerned with eliciting those pleasures through dance.

In an open letter to fans released the day before "Renaissance" dropped, Beyoncé stated how she hoped the album landed among listeners.

“I hope you find joy in this music,” she told them. “I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”

The theme is joy. Pleasure. Loving yourself and loving others. And if you feel inclined to share a bit of your "Renaissance"-inspired good vibes with others, here are lyrics from "Renaissance" to use as Instagram captions — but they work as positive affirmations, too.

Everything to Know About Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour

Atlantis The Royal Grand Reveal Weekend 2023 - Beyonce Performance

B eyoncé’s fans have been waiting for this day: the pop megastar finally announced that she will embark on the long-awaited Renaissance World Tour. She uploaded a post to Instagram early Wednesday morning with the caption: “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023,” and her official website has been updated to show the tour dates. The tour starts in May in Sweden and will hit Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Poland, before she makes her way to North America. The first date stateside will be in Philadelphia, Pa., in July and the tour will hit the major U.S. cities before wrapping up in New Orleans, La., on Sept. 27.

Following the release of her seventh album, Renaissance , in July, fans have been itching for a tour announcement, in addition to music videos to accompany the songs. Beyoncé’s last solo tour was the Formation World Tour back in 2016 to support her sixth album, Lemonade . Following that, she went on the On The Run Tour with her husband, Jay-Z, in 2018 after releasing their joint project, Everything Is Love . The announcement of a new tour just before the Grammy Awards on Sunday raises suspicion that Beyoncé might be performing or, at the very least, attending the night’s festivities.

The singer is nominated for nine Grammys at this year’s awards ceremony, which are set to take place on Feb. 5 in Los Angeles. This year, she is up against Adele for multiple awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. There has been speculation about whether or not Beyoncé would be performing ever since the nominations were announced. The last time fans saw her perform on a major televised stage was at last year’s Oscars ceremony, where she performed “Be Alive” from the King Richard movie for the first time.

Beyoncé most recently took the stage for a private concert at the opening of the Atlantis The Royal resort in Dubai in January. However, she did not perform any songs from Renaissance . Also, given that Beyoncé unveiled the album’s title on Instagram as “act [one],” her dedicated fanbase has been busy theorizing what acts two and three might be. Some have hypothesized that the tour would be act two and then a concert movie would be act three. Others have ventured to guess that this is a three-part album and that Renaissance was just the beginning.

Tickets for the concert will not be an easy get if Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is any indication. Beyoncé’s fans can click on the date they would like to attend to register for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program and will then have to wait to see if they are given an access code to purchase tickets to the event. With Verified Fan and the “unexpected” traffic the pre-sale brought to the site, many Swifties likened the ticket-buying process to a warzone. The disastrous rollout drew ire from Swift’s fans and political officials alike. After the ticketing fiasco, the Senate held a hearing to look into whether Live Nation and Ticketmaster have a monopoly over the ticketing industry. This, coupled with the technical problems that Swift fans faced, have Beyoncé fans worrying that finding their way to an actual concert will be nothing short of an ordeal.

Beyoncé: The Best Renaissance Lyrics That Make Excellent Captions

Khushboo Malhotra

Here’s our confession: we can’t stop revisiting “ Renaissance ,” the seventh studio album by Beyoncé ever since its release, which saved 2022. The world stopped spinning while everyone tried to comprehend Beyoncé’s latest album,  Renaissance , a disco-heavy collection of 16 absolutely banging songs that simply took over the world.

The first of a three-act music project by Beyoncé , Renaissance —her first proper release since 2016’s critically acclaimed Lemonade— is a fast-paced soundtrack for the dance floor, delving into ballroom and club music rhythms, delivering every inch of that promise. It weaves together multi-layers and cultural barometers with exceptional lyrics that can sometimes be sultry, explicitly raunchy and sexy, and other times, deep and uneasy conversations sprinkled with fear of chaos and life in America. And there’s a good mix of funny, emotional, self-worth, passionate, and empowering as well; sometimes all in the same song.

Beyonce Renaissance Album

Beyoncé conceived and recorded the Renaissance during the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking to inspire comfort, joy, and confidence in her listeners who had experienced isolation. The album explores the significant themes of escapism, hedonism, self-affirmation, and expression, combined with upbeat melodies, groovy mood, eclectic sound, and unparalleled vocals. Queen Bey is simply in a league of her own.

In a statement shared with fans following the release of the Renaissance , Beyoncé said she hopes we all “find joy in this music.” She further stated,

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”

renaissance tour captions

The 16 tracks on Renaissance by Beyoncé are an eclectic mix of hip-hop, soul, trap, dancehall, etc., anchored by powerful percussion, astonishing tones, and captivating segues. She isn’t new to using elaborative sexual metaphors, and the album is dripping with analogies on how she is the only intoxicant you need to get high. As Beyoncé forays into her musical journey on the Renaissance , it’s also clear that her marriage to Jay-Z is stronger than ever since 2016’s Lemonade . After all, the album has a sweet dedication to her “beautiful husband and muse,” according to  her note to fans  before the record dropped.

It’s unquestionably challenging to choose Beyoncé’s best lyrics from her discography; after all, it would be simpler to just list them all. She is that wonderful. However, we still took advantage of this opportunity to binge Beyoncé;’s Renaissance in its entirety and pick out the best lyrics that made us smile, reflect, rewind, or just pause and realize the beauty of music and its rousing influence on billions of people.

Walk through the best lyrics of Renaissanc e, and use them as your next best Instagram captions, or you may frame them around as wallpapers, and use them as your daily affirmations exploring the realms of love, self-love self-confidence, and sometimes, just to your bad bitch mode on.

“I’m That Girl”

  • “It’s not the diamonds/It’s not the pearls/ I’m just that girl”
  • “From the top of the morning, I shine/ Right through the blinds”
  • “Touching everything in my plain view/ And everything next to me gets lit up, too.”
  • “Such a heathen, why they let me outside”
  • “You know love is my weakness/ Don’t need drugs for some freak shit”
  • “I pull up in these clothes, look so good / ‘Cause I’m in that ho”

What’s a better way than to kick off the album, Renaissance , from an ultimate summer pop banger oozing with sultriness and confidence by our very own It girl, Beyoncé?

“Cozy”

  • “Comfortable in my skin/Cozy with who I am/ Feet up above your sins/I love myself, goddamn”
  • “She’s a god, she’s a hero/ She survived all she been through”
  • “Rainbow gelato in the streets/Renaissance, yachtin’ in Capri”
  • “Confident, damn, she lethal.”
  • “Been down, been up, been broke, broke down, bounced back”
  • “I been thick, been fine, still a ten, still here, that’s all me.”
  • “Paint the world p*ssy pink”

Another song you’ll need to lift your spirits this year brimming with confidence and empowerment, and teaches you to love yourself is “Cozy,” which perfectly transitions from “I’m That Girl” and embraces the key motif for the Renaissance .

“Alien Superstar”

  • “I’m one of one/I’m number one/I’m the only one.”
  • “Don’t even waste your time trying to compete with me/No one else in this world can think like me.”
  • “Category: Bad Bitch, I’m the bar!”
  • “I’m too classy to be touched, I paid them all in dust”
  • “If that’s your man, then why he over here?”
  • “Can’t find an ocean deep/That can compete with this cinnamon kiss/ Fire beneath your feet, music when you speak/ You’re so unique.”

The confidence here is *chef’s kiss*. Beyoncé is constantly raising the bar for all of us, celebrating uniqueness and doing it flawlessly. This song is bound to become a Friday night dance floor classic, adorned with a catchy melody and iconic lyrics!

Beyoncé

“Cuff It”

  • “I feel like fallin’ in love/ I’m in the mood to f*ck something up. ”
  • “Bet you, you’ll elevate/ Bet you, you’ll meet God”
  • “Hit them ‘draulics while I ride it/Got me actin’ hella thotty.”
  • “So excited, so exotic/ I’m a seasoned professional/ Squeeze it, don’t let it go/ Tease it, no self-control”

Oh, Beyoncé knew precisely what she was doing when she dreamed up this ultimate dance anthem: a fusion of pop and funk so magnificent that you can’t help but get up and get your dancing shoes on. It’s time to get grooving.

“Energy”

  • “Only double lines we cross is dollar signs”
  • “Wait, I hear you just got paid, make it rain”
  • “She more Cancún, he more Saint-Tropez”
  • “That’s that Kodak energy”
  • “We were chillin’, mindin’ our business/ Poppin’ our pain and champagne through the ceiling”
  • “Sippin’ it up, flickin’ it up”
  • “All this good energy got you all in your feelings”
  • “I’m crazy, I’m swearin’/ I’m darin’, your man starin'”

The song is precisely what you’d expect from its title: an energy-packed bop with a dose of political references.

“Break My Soul”

  • “I’m ’bout to explode, take off this load!”
  • “Release ya anger, release ya mind/ Release ya job, release the time/ Release ya trade, release the stress/ Release the love, forget the rest!”
  • “Ain’t takin’ no flicks, but the whole clique snapped.”
  • “The queens in the front and the doms in the back”
  • “I just quit my job / I’m gonna find a new drive”
  • “Damn, they work me so damn hard/ Work by nine, then off past five/ And they work my nerves/ That’s why I cannot sleep at night”
  • “You said you outside/ but you ain’t that outside”

A highlight of the album’s only single, an anthem to quit your boring job, and an instant Instagram classic with loads of resonating verses-this is a certified Beyoncé head-bopping banger with a plethora of quotable lyrics.

“Plastic Off The Sofa”

  • “Boy, I know you can’t help but to be yourself around me!”
  • “And I know nobody’s perfect, so I’ll let you be”
  • “Stay in our lane, just you and me, and our family”
  • “I think you’re so cool/ Even though I’m cooler than you”
  • “It’s the way you wear your emotions on both of your sleeves”
  • “It’s the way you want one more kiss after you said you were leaving”
  • “Say, say you won’t change”
  • “I love the little things that make you, you’

This one is for the lovers, celebrating love with a softer melody flowing through the single, tugging at your heartstrings with its poignant vocals and ethereal lyrics.

“Church Girl”

  • “I’ve been up, I been down/ Feel like I move mountains/ Got friends that cried fountains.”
  • “Nobody can judge me but me, I was born free”
  • “She gon’ shake that ass and them pretty tig old bitties”
  • “I’m finally on the other side. I finally found the urge to smile”
  • “Swimming through the oceans of tears we cried.”
  • “Church girls acting loose, bad girls acting snotty”
  • “Must be the cash ‘cause it ain’t your face”

Beyoncé has given the world an uplifting, “twerk anthem,” exhibiting her unparalleled, eloquent vocals.

“Virgos Groove”

  • “Motorboat baby, swerve around/ Slo-mo, slo-mo, coming out my blouse”
  • “I can be the one that takes you there/ On this magic ride”
  • “There’s nothing that I want as much as I want you.”
  • A psychic hit me, told me we got s*it to do
  • We ain’t got time like we used to/ But we still shine like we used to”
  • “So use me, pursue me/ Kiss me when you bruise me”
  • “I scream so loud I curse the stars”
  • “I need more nudity and ecstasy”
  • “Talk to me nice”
  • “Good lord, baby, don’t you ever switch it up”

Before you ask us, yes, Beyoncé is a Virgo and a perfectionist!

Beyoncé

“Move”

  • “When the queen come through, part like the Red Sea/Move out the way”
  • “You’ve got such magnetic power, that just keeps holding me down.”
  • I feel just like a flower/ That you’re keepin’ stomping the ground.”

“Heated”

  • “Uncle Johnny made my dress/That cheap Spandex, she looks a mess.”
  • “Make a pretty girl talk that shitty/ Whiskey ’til I’m tipsy, glitter on my kitty”

Beyoncé

“Thique”

  • “She says she on a diet, girl, you better not lose that ass though.”

“All Up In Your Mind”

  • “Is my love a crime ’cause I wanna make you mine?”
  • “It’s absurd but I’m gon’ say those three words/ Yes, I do, I think it’s true, I just know I love you”
  • “You give me that real, good feeling that I need”

“America Has A Problem”

  • “Your ex-dealer dope, but ain’t crack enough”

“Pure/Honey”

  • “Bad bitches to the left, money bitches to the right
  • You can be both, meet in the middle, dance all night”

And a special shout out to the bitches that go both ways.

Beyoncé

“Summer Renaissance”

Beyoncé wraps her ambitious magnum opus, gripped by desires, sex, and self-worth, with this groovy anthem leaning to pop with unsubtle teases. She gives a subtle nod to Donna Summer as a sample of “I Feel Love” swirls in the background while beckoning listeners to the dance floor.

  • “I’m feeling way too loose to be tied down/Can you see my brain open wide now?”
  • “Know you love when I roleplay. Who am I now?”
  • I’m a doc’, I’m a nurse, I’m a teacher/Dominate is the best way to beat ya!”
  • Sorry ’bout yesterday and all the sweet stuff/You’re a sweetie pie, come let me eat ya!”

Is this about… what we think it’s about? Well, it’s pretty much self-explanatory and gives a not-so-subtle glimpse. * ahem* Although we love a girl that leaves her fans guessing! There’s another verse that caught our attention, and definitely, every fashionista who follows Queen Bey’s opulent way of life felt the same way!

“Versace, Bottega, Prada, Balenciaga, Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, Collect your coins, Beyoncé So elegant and raunchy. This haute couture I’m flaunting, This Telfar bag imported, Birkins, them shits in storage I’m in my bag. “

The fashionista in us felt compelled to scrutinize and examine these lyrics, which refer to several high-end luxury brands, including Birkin, Telfar, Bottega, Prada, Givenchy, and more. Beyoncé explicitly alluded to her whopping collection of iconic Hermès Birkin handbags worth $350,000, which were made famous by Jay-Z’s exemplary song “30-Something,” and which are currently gathering dust in a storage facility.

Clearly, Beyoncé is brimming with her golden aura in the Renaissance . Will the next two acts in Beyoncé’s musical story will be dance-heavy, or explore new directions? We will just have to wait and see — but in the meantime, keep dancing.

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour

The singer's record-breaking album is set to make history at this weekend's Grammys.

preview for What to Know About the 2023 Grammys

The superstar dropped the news this Wednesday morning on Instagram. In a post, she shared a photo of herself wearing a bejeweled armor-like bodysuit and silver mirrored cowboy hat while sitting atop a holographic horse.

"RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023," she simply wrote in the caption.

Beyoncé released her seventh studio album on July 29, 2022, after recording it over three years during the COVID-19 pandemic. The singer wrote about the project in an open letter to fans.

"Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world," she shared. "It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration."

With Renaissance , Beyoncé has made Grammys history. For this year's ceremony —which takes place this coming Sunday—the star is nominated for nine awards, bringing her up to a total of 88 nominations to date. In a romantic turn, this ties her for the most-nominated artist in Grammys history with none other than her husband, Jay-Z.

Beyoncé's Renaissance smash "Break My Soul" is nominated for Record of the Year. This is her eighth nomination in the category and makes her the artist with the most ROTY nominations of all time. The track is also up for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and the album is nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.

Beyoncé has announced a world tour in support of her Renaissance album, which dropped in July.

The superstar musician broke the news in a bare-bones post on Instagram on Wednesday, featuring merely a photo of her in her Renaissance album look and the words “Renaissance World Tour,” which she repeated in the caption, adding “2023.”

Tickets for the tour, produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation, will be available starting Monday, with an exclusive presale for BeyHive members. More info about the tour and a complete list of dates is available on Beyonce’s website .

The news comes after Beyoncé performed for the first time in more than four years in Dubai last month and ahead of the 2023 Grammys this coming Sunday, where she’s nominated for a leading nine awards and, if she wins four, could become the most awarded artist in Grammys history .

The Dubai concert on Jan. 21 featured the superstar singing songs she rarely performs onstage and duetting with daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The nearly 75-minute, invite-only performance was to help launch the city’s new luxurious and opulent hotel, The Atlantis Royal. Jay-Z and other members of Beyoncé’s family were also in attendance at the Dubai show.

Prior to that, Beyoncé’s last live performance, apart from her opening the 2022 Oscars , was at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg in December of 2018. That year, she and Jay-Z also went on their On the Run II tour. And she performed a headline-making set at the 2018 Coachella Festival, with her performance captured for the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary Homecoming .

Her last solo tour was the Formation jaunt in 2016.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is both concert film and documentary about the recent world tour.

Beyoncé's album Renaissance drew on generations' worth of Black and queer dance music — and the subsequent tour packed stadiums with an epic, lavish spectacle. Now, with the new concert film and documentary Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, she shows the work that went into putting on the tour while also providing a sense of her journey as a highly driven artist.

See Beyoncé’s best looks from her haute couture-rich Renaissance tour

I t’s not the diamonds or the pearls that make Beyoncé that girl, but fashion is a critical part of what’s made her Renaissance World Tour unforgettable.

In celebration of her seventh album of the same name, Beyoncé’s first solo tour in seven years featured a wardrobe fit for a queen. With many of the looks switching out from venue to venue — and some specific to particular cities on the tour — it also moonlighted as a traveling fashion show, keeping fans on their toes for whatever Beyoncé and her team of stylists had up their sleeves (or opera gloves) next.

This “Renaissance” era in Beyoncé’s music is about unbridled joy, self-empowerment, freedom in love, movement and identity — be it racial, sexual or gender — and the expression of these journeys through disco and futurism.

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world,” Beyoncé wrote on Instagram in 2022. “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”

This message — and the creation of community, with attendees sporting their own “Renaissance couture” to fit the tour’s theme — translated sartorially, too.

When developing the tour wardrobe, “Beyoncé and her team talked about a sci-fi disco, like a gigantic party in another galaxy or space,” said fashion designer Iris van Herpen, who created one look for the tour. “I love designing with the concepts of sci-fi as it gives creative freedom to travel time and space. For me, during her Renaissance tour she is Queen B Beyond, a timeless queen that moves in a dazzling constellation.”

“This ethereal and futurist femininity complements and extends her other looks in the tour that beautifully highlight other aspects of feminine empowerment,” van Herpen added.

Designer David Koma was “particularly excited to receive the call for the world tour because I knew it would be an incredible performance,” he said, calling the tour “an iconic pop culture moment I would be so proud to be a part of.”

“It feels like (a) once in a lifetime experience that every attendee will remember forever,” Koma, who has collaborated with Beyoncé for over a decade, told CNN via email.

Here are some of the best Renaissance tour looks, which fans will be able to see even more of upon the release of “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” in theaters December 1.

‘It should cost a billion to look this good’

For the tour’s opening night in Stockholm, Beyoncé stepped into her “House of Chrome” wearing a custom Alexander McQueen bodysuit featuring thousands of silver bugle beads and crystals hand-embroidered on a black tulle base.

For the final stop of the tour in Kansas City, Missouri, meanwhile, she opened the show in a bustier dress embroidered with thousands of rhinestones, paired with black opera gloves.

André Courrèges was one of the instrumental designers of space-inspired, intergalactic fashion of the ‘60s, and critical in defining the “retro-futurism” aesthetic. Fittingly, Beyoncé wore a custom silver Courrèges leotard with cutouts for several performances of “Alien Superstar.”

She opened the first of three London tour stops in a custom full-body cobalt blue gown from the London-based designer Roksanda Ilincic, similar to pieces from Ilincic’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection.

One of the most iconic looks of the tour was a custom gold Loewe bodysuit with hand motifs from the house’s Fall-Winter 2022 runway, which appear like an illusion in tandem with Beyoncé and her backing dancers’ movements.

In collaboration with tour stylist Shiona Turini, Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson designed a series of looks “inspired by the escapist joy” of “Renaissance,” playing on sculptural forms and body illusion and blending “futuristic concepts with theatrical, disco-era aesthetics,” according to Loewe’s website .

In Amsterdam, Beyoncé wore a custom black corseted Gucci leotard with strands of crystals crisscrossing the bodice, atop sheer mesh with rhinestone detailing. She paired the look with a wide-brimmed, metallic silver hat — and a pair of ornate sunglasses.

The custom Mugler bee outfit Beyoncé often wore while performing “America Has a Problem” referenced the house’s Spring-Summer 1997 “Les Insects” collection . Designed by Mugler creative director Casey Cadwallader and styled by Turini, the look pays homage to Beyoncé’s “queen bee” persona while also contributing to the otherworldly feel of much of the tour’s fashions.

In LA, Beyoncé wore another intricate Mugler piece: a strappy silver bodysuit designed by Cadwallader and styled by Turini.

As Beyoncé floated around the arena during the encore performance, “Summer Renaissance,” at her premiere show, so did her custom Coperni ensemble, which was inspired by a look from the brand’s Fall-Winter 2023 collection.

“She wore an embroidered cape, bodysuit and gloves,” Coperni said on Instagram . The outfit, created from silver laser-cut feathers, required hundreds of hours of hand stitching.

In New York City, the singer opened the “Renaissance” act of the show in a custom Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini “bodysuit featuring a sculpted bullet bra adorned with a dazzling decoration of degradè Swarovski crystals,” according to the brand’s Instagram . She accessorized with thigh-high silver boots and an apricot eco-kidassia coat.

For her June 18 Amsterdam show, Beyoncé’s own work was among that of Black designers showcased to celebrate Juneteenth. She donned pieces from her Ivy Park fashion line.

“I was so engulfed in all things RENAISSANCE and was inspired by Studio 54, Bob Mackie and the disco era,” the star said in an Instagram post . “I wanted to do a modern twist using the signature IVY PARK neon and bring disco to the beach in this swim collection.”

In Kansas City, she also wore an all-black version of the Ivy Park design.

This custom Iris van Herpen look “was a complex combination of high-tech and craftsmanship. A total of 980 falcate-shapes were 3D constructed by casting silver-marbled silicone into mirrored laser-cut outlines,” van Herpen told CNN. “I designed this look to bring a futuristic softness and otherworldliness to her powerful performance. I wanted her look to be an intense and hypnotizing experience on stage.”

Styled by tour stylist K.J. Moody, this custom David Koma “mother of pearl” print mesh bodysuit and asymmetric skirt was paired with iridescent embossed knee-high cowboy boots.

“I wanted to create a memorable and striking look but with comfort and movement as a priority,” Koma said. “We created pieces that were visually delicate but also durable — something that can be worn for multiple nights of the tour.”

Koma felt like part of his inspiration for the print — Dr. Sylvia Earle, a trailblazing marine biologist — “subconsciously resonated with Beyoncé and the empowerment nature of her music and the tour,” he added.

Beyoncé opened her Chicago show in a custom Schiaparelli minidress designed by Daniel Roseberry and made of black silk faille, with “a floor-length stole covered in hand-embroidered silver stones and leaf feathers,” according to Schiaparelli .

For a California tour date, Beyoncé wore a pink Gucci bustier look with pleated detailing accentuated by crystal embellishments. The look featured bedazzled black velvet opera gloves, matching boots — and binoculars (not pictured).

The camo Ivy Park looks worn for several shows served well the soldier-like arc of the set list, during which Beyoncé and her dancers performed songs including “Formation,” “Diva,” “Run the World (Girls)” and “Black Parade,” a song the singer released to mark Juneteenth in 2020.

Also paired with a pair of thigh-high camo boots, this custom casual jersey look is from Ivy Park’s “Park Trail” collection . With colors that appear to salute Beyoncé’s sister Solange and the Lakers NBA team — “Sol Ange” (solar orange) and “Lake-Her” (legacy indigo), respectively — the collection “is inspired by the resilience of the outdoors, the spirit of the streets, and the possibilities of the future,” according to Adidas .

This full-body Richard Quinn bodysuit featured a peplum-style bodice and a sculptural, dome-like hat that obscured everything except for Beyoncé’s eyes, with large rhinestone details throughout.

For an opening look during a tour date in Atlanta, Beyoncé wore a neon green gown from Indian designer Gaurav Gupta’s “Hiranyagarbha” collection, presented at Paris Haute Couture Week in July.

“She shines in ethereal electricity, chiffon drapes of Athena with orbiting satin sculpting,” Gupta said on Instagram .

For a show in Warsaw, she stunned in a custom Elie Saab haute couture gown styled by Karen Langley and Tara Greville.

And for her Minneapolis show, Beyoncé hit the stage wearing head-to-toe custom Acne Studios, including metallic pink shorts and a bustier, oversized coat and sparkling thigh-high boots.

This custom Balmain look by Olivier Rousteing was one of many silver ensembles Beyoncé donned during the tour. It featured sequins, a dramatic clam shell-like bodice and a hip-level slit. The star released a Renaissance couture collection with the label in March; each look translating a song from the album into fashion.

For the assertive soldier-themed arc of another show, Beyoncé donned a black patent and fishnet look by Peter Dundas, also styled by Moody.

This custom Off-White look, featured on the poster of Beyoncé’s upcoming film, included a bustier-style bodysuit encrusted in 40,000 red hotfix crystals designed by Ibrahim Kamara, the label’s art and image director.

A second all-red Off-White look featured a top hat, bomber jacket and shorter silhouette.

Dying to catch a Beyoncé or Taylor Swift show? Some fans are traveling overseas — and saving money

By Elizabeth Napolitano

Edited By Alain Sherter

June 9, 2023 / 5:00 AM EDT / MoneyWatch

As the cost of tickets to see Beyoncé and Taylor Swift strut their stuff onstage soars to absurd heights , some Americans are dropping the coupon codes and picking up their passports.

So-called concert tourism, in which people venture abroad to attend live shows, was gaining traction among Americans even before the pandemic, ticket sales data show. But with prime tickets to popular shows hitting four digits, some music fans are heading overseas to catch their favorite acts.

Beyoncé superfan Shelby Messing said she saved at least $1,000 by heading to Spain to see Beyonce perform during her stop in Barcelona on her sold-out Renaissance world tour. She estimates laying out between $2,500 and $3,000 for her two-week trip. That includes the cost of a round-trip flight from Atlanta to Barcelona, accommodations, one $227 general admission concert ticket and a bonus excursion to Mallorca.

By comparison, on  Ticketmaster  a single VIP Renaissance World Tour ticket in the U.S. goes for at least $3,757 and as much as $5,007.

Messing saved hundreds of dollars on the concert due, in part, to the comparatively low ticket fees in Spain, where the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) has  previously cracked down on disproportionately high ticket fees for live music events. She paid a flat fee of roughly $27 for her ticket to Beyonce's Barcelona show; in the U.S., ticket fees for the same show would have cost her nearly 50% of the ticket's face value, she told CBS MoneyWatch.

"I'm not surprised more and more people are coming to shows in Europe instead and [are choosing to] stimulate an economy that doesn't take advantage of people," Messing said.

Data from the American Economic Liberties Project, an anti-monopoly group, shows fees now add an average of 32% to ticket orders, up from an average of 27% in 2018, the New York Times reported .

"A no-brainer to travel"

While concert tickets are often cheaper overseas, the cost of flying to Europe, Asia or other regions around the world is  surging this year .

That's why Triada Cross, another Beyoncé fan, used credit-card points to fly from Dallas to Germany to catch a show. She paid a total of $2,850 to see the songstress perform twice, once in Hamburg and once in Frankfurt. Including the cost a flight, a five-night hotel stay and a train ride between the two cities, she estimates she paid $3,525 for her entire trip — still less than the cost of a single VIP ticket package to the same show in America.

"I used to live in Germany… so I already understood that Europe has better consumer protection laws than the U.S.," Cross told CBS MoneyWatch. "For me, it was a no-brainer to travel to Europe to see Beyoncé, especially after seeing the Taylor Swift Ticketmaster debacle play out."

The Ticketmaster factor

Ticketmaster, the platform owned by entertainment company LiveNation, controls ticket sales for roughly three-quarters of major concert venues in the U.S., according to estimates cited by lawmakers at a January Senate hearing  on the company's practices .

Ticketmaster's "dynamic pricing" model adjusts ticket prices according to popular demand, said Ron Knox, a senior researcher at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, an advocacy organization focused on corporate power.

"Ticketmaster can use dynamic pricing to rack up profits and rip off fans…[providing] one of the worst ticket buying experiences imaginable," Knox said. "For fans and artists alike, Ticketmaster is unavoidable, and the concert-going experience in the U.S. is far worse off because of it."

Ticketmaster also tacks on high fees, further inflating costs for concertgoers in the U.S., critics of the platform say. And, because Ticketmaster has signed exclusive agreements with many of the country's major concert venues, there's often no way around those fees, said Krista Brown, a senior policy analyst at the American Economic Liberties Project.

"Exclusive contracts between venues and ticketing providers like Ticketmaster are the most significant factor in what drives up U.S. ticket prices compared to the European market," Brown told CBS MoneyWatch. "In the U.S., those exclusive arrangements guarantee it will face no competition."

Ticketmaster did not respond to a request for comment from CBS MoneyWatch.

Lawsuits and legislation

Ticketmaster's fee system has aroused the ire of fans and artists alike. In March, The Cure frontman Robert Smith took aim at the service, tweeting he was "sickened" by the company's fees , which exceeded the face value of tickets to his band's shows.

Last year, Taylor Swift fans who were unable to get seats to her Eras Tour shows  sued Ticketmaster and Live Nation , alleging the companies committed fraud and violated antirust laws in selling tickets for the concerts.

In April, legislators introduced the "Junk Fees Prevention Act " to limit "mandatory fees that are excessive or deceptive." But it will take more than that to make concerts more affordable stateside, Brown told CBS MoneyWatch.

"Current legislation is attempting to address some of these issues, but significant federal action is needed to address the broader market problems created by Live Nation [and] Ticketmaster's monopoly power," Brown said.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Was Gifted Tickets To Beyoncé

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson received free tickets to a Beyoncé concert last year, according to personal finance documents made public Friday, as justices come under increasing pressure to disclose gifts and potential conflicts of interest.

A Supreme Court spokesperson confirmed the gift to The Washington Post and said: “Justice Jackson is ... [+] Crazy in Love with Beyonce’s music. Who isn’t?”

In her personal financial disclosure, Jackson disclosed a $3,712 gift of four concert tickets from Beyoncé herself.

The disclosure didn’t contain information on what show Jackson was at or what led to the tickets being gifted.

A Supreme Court spokesperson confirmed the gift to The Washington Post and said : “Justice Jackson is Crazy in Love with Beyonce’s music. Who isn’t?”

Jackson—who had the most outside income of any justice last year—also disclosed that she received almost $900,000 from Penguin Random House for a book advance, reportedly for her memoir that is worth $3 million.

Beyoncé also gifted Vice President Kamala Harris tickets to her Renaissance World Tour last August when it went through the D.C. area. The vice president posted a picture on social media of her and her husband captioned: “Thanks for a fun date night, @Beyonce!” Harris’ financial disclosure forms released in May revealed the tickets were worth about $1,655.

The Supreme Court justices—save for Justice Samuel Alito—released their financial disclosure documents on Friday amid increased attention on the court and recent allegations of ethical violations and conflicts of interest. Justice Brett Kavanaugh reported receiving $340,000 from Regnery Publishing for his book deal and Justice Neil Gorsuch reported receiving $250,000 from HarperCollins. Justice Clarence Thomas amended his past disclosures to include two trips paid for by real estate magnate Harlan Crow after he was criticized for not reporting them in the past.

Forbes Valuation

Forbes estimated Jackson to have a net worth of about $2 million in February, meaning she tied Kavanaugh for having the lowest net worth on the bench.

Chief Critic

Eric Columbus, who has worked in special litigation counsel for the House, posted on X , formerly known as Twitter, that although he doesn’t think Beyoncé was trying to influence the justice or that Jackson could be influenced by free tickets, she “shouldn’t accept gifts like this and the rules shouldn’t allow it” unless they had a preexisting friendship.

Beyoncé candlelight tribute concert tickets

When the U.S. Supreme Court ’s nine justices released their annual financial disclosures on Friday (June 7), Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson reported a cooler-than-usual line item: that Beyoncé had personally gifted her four concert tickets.

In a yearly report required by federal ethics laws, Justice Jackson listed her various investments, as well as a nearly $1 million book advance she received from Penguin Random House for her Lovely One memoir set to hit bookshelves this fall.

Beyoncé Gifted Kamala Harris Renaissance Tour Tickets Valued at $1600

Trending on billboard.

The filing, obtained by Billboard , did not include any more information, like what particular shows Justice Jackson had attended or how KBJ and Queen Bey had connected. A spokesperson for Beyoncé did not immediately return a request for comment.

This year’s SCOTUS disclosures have drawn far greater attention than usual, following revelations last year that Justice Clarence Thomas had received undisclosed expensive gifts, including trips aboard a private plane, from Republican megadonor Harlan Crow . In his own report on Friday, Justice Thomas formally amended the disputed trips to his earlier filings but did not list any new travel reimbursements for 2023.

Members of the federal judiciary are not barred from owning investments, earning outside income or even accepting gifts like expensive concert tickets. But they must disclose such income to avoid any potential conflicts of interest involving cases that they’re tasked with deciding.

When faced with a financial conflict of interest — or even the appearance of such bias — lower federal judges are required to recuse themselves from cases. In a new code of conduct issued last year after the Thomas-Crow uproar, the high court agreed to follow essentially those same rules. But those new regulations noted that recusals are harder at the Supreme Court, where a justice cannot simply be replaced by another judge.

Beyoncé tickets and $2,000 photo albums: Supreme Court justices reveal the gifts they got

  • Supreme Court Justices disclosed the gifts and outside income they got in 2023.
  • Among them: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson got "Renaissance" tour tickets from Beyoncé.
  • Justice Clarence Thomas got expensive photo albums — and referenced 2019 trips paid for by Harlan Crow.

Insider Today

New financial disclosures for eight Supreme Court Justices reveal the outside income and gifts they received in 2023 — and made reference to the gift scandal that has plagued conservative Justice Clarence Thomas.

Stricter ethics rules adopted in March 2023 require Supreme Court Justices to disclose more gifts, trips, and meals they may have accepted.

Among the gifts and income disclosed from last year, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said she got concert tickets from Beyoncé Knowles-Carter to the "Renaissance World Tour," with the four passes worth over $3,700.

Brown Jackson also reported $12,500 in gifted artwork for the justice's chambers.

The disclosures revealed other ways Justices are making money — including a hefty book deal advance for Brown Jackson from Penguin Random House worth nearly $900,000.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh also reported $340,000 in book royalty income, while Justice Neil Gorsuch reported $250,000 in royalty income from HarperCollins.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor pocketed nearly $2,000 for voicing a character in an animated TV show.

Related stories

And while most of the Justices disclosed their investments in the stock market, Kavanaugh's report for 2023 showed none.

However, the most noteworthy gift on the disclosures wasn't one from last year.

In his 2023 disclosure, Justice Thomas amended his disclosures from 2019 to include luxury trips he received from billionaire Harlan Crow.

Thomas has been under fire in the past for accepting lavish vacations and gifts from the GOP megadonor; his report for 2023 now include references to two trips hosted by Crow in 2019 to Bali and Monte Rio, California.

Thomas has denied any conflict of interest, and Harlan Crow has said that the arch-conservative justice is simply a friend.

Thomas' last disclosure, made public in August 2023, mentioned Crow throughout , including flights, meals, and lodging he paid for on various trips.

Thomas' report this year also revealed he received two photo albums worth $2,000 from Terrence Giroux — the executive director of the Horatio Alger Association — and his wife, Barbara.

Alito is the only Justice for whom the Supreme Court did not publish a report today. He was granted a 90-day extension to file, according to the New York Times .

Alito is under his own scrutiny for flags displaying pro-Trump symbols that flew at his properties around the time of the January 6 riot in 2021. Alito has said his wife was responsible for putting the flags up and blamed a dispute with neighbors, though reports indicate the timeline doesn't add up .
