The float needs to shut off as it becomes level with carb body Air screw start at 1 1/2 turns out  

Ok,thanks. I got this sled on a package deal. It does run,but I think the carbs need cleaned. I will update, I have 1 more sled in front of that one.

This is the specs. I thought I had a service manual, but the one I have covers 470-700's Not the smaller 377/380 and 250. Have the 1996 service manual though. The attaches is a specs sheet for a wide range of models.

Do you know where the adjustment for the throttle cable is? Ivd got too much play in the lever.  

Right on top of the carb(s). Loosen the nut up on top and back out the tube to tighten. Make sure it isn't loose because an issue with the cable on the throttle lever. Sometimes they will slip out of the holder, but still be connected to the lever.  

Sorry, I got it all ready to go. Appreciate the help. I'm working on a basket case right now.

im thinkin about buying a skidoo safari for 100 bucks what kinda mods can u do to a fan cooled 377cc skidoo safari and does ne one know where i can get a decent hood for cheap  

I see lots of safari hoods on Craigslist, for some reason. Any ways,i have a '90 safari, and there isn't much you can do to such a small sled. THe seat seems especially long to me, and the windshield is HUGE(easy to crack, i would know. Why i don't have one). Good beater  

ik u cant kill them safaris this sled used to be mine i sold it them im gonna buy it back i used to jump everything and go through like 7 feet of snow without getting stuck i just thought it would be a kinda cool old sled to restore and mess around with on craigslist what are the price ranges go from for the hoods

i dont think it will fit i think its a safari saga the cowels a bit taller  

ok. Yah, never heard of them. good luck! I guess there's always the normal stuff- handguards, skis, fishbones, risers, mountain bar, hooks. I dont know about clutching, might not be worth it on that sled.  

I learned on one of them mine was an 86" couldn't kill it there really reliable we used ares for ice fishing light and easy to manuever fun sleds  

My old man had a 1988 377 Safari and it melted a piston with about 3200 kilometers on it. Pretty gutless sleds but great for beginner riders! Cheers

I have basically the same engine in my Citation. Maybe I could be some help to you... I have a website with all the specs for a early 80's 377 engine. Everything is basically the same between the engines, except that the earlier sleds had points ignition, and you have CD Ignition. As for the carbs you should have a Mikuni VM 34. Go to my website and you'll see all sorts of stuff about that engine, the carbs, and fuel pumps. MY SITE Cory

Thanks for the info on carb setup. Yes the sled runs, it will run alot better with a fresh carb. As for electrical, the only thing hooked up on the hood is the headlight. Apparently what I have is a Safari with a Formula hood on it. I would like to hook up the gages but I'm not even sure if the Safari runs both a speedo and a tach. It also has two warning lights, red on the left and blue on the right. I believe the blue is for high beam and I'm not sure what the red is for. There are a few connectors behind the gages that look like they might hold fusesbut I'm not sure. Come to think of I don't even know if this thing really is a Safari, does anyone know how to verify this, possibly from the serial # on the tunnel - 3615 00204? Thanks

what are the proper sparkplugs for a 1986 doo safari 377??

just wondering what the proper plugs are. im running br9es and dont think there hot enough. either that or my coils gone  

Try br8es's, i think they are the hotter plug, thats what i ran in my '80 citation ss this past winter. If your coils were gone you wouldnt have spark.  

BR9ES is the correct plug ... what is the engine doing to make you think the plugs are not hot enough?  

somtimes the plugs are perfect other times there really fouled and it only runs on one cylinder im think new coil because somtimes one is perfect the other is fouled. alot of people with this sled use br8es tho? im not sure  

To be honest, I have't looked at your other posts and threads so I don't know if you've cleaned your carbs, changed ignition wires or caps ... but that's the order I'd try before getting any deeper.  

most all sleds are BR9ES except for the SDI
