Snowmobile Tours
Snowmobile Tours in Western Newfoundland
The Jackladder is located in the middle of what can be considered the best snowmobiling in Newfoundland, if not in Canada!
Imagine travelling over 5,000 kms of well-groomed and marked trails in an area where the average annual snowfall is 16 feet! Just as thrilling would be touring over glacier carved Fjords and exploring along our expansive river edges while passing the Long Range Mountains. For the more experienced riders, back country options are available, where you can experience Newfoundland’s unique and pristine nature while riding in untouched, powdery snow. The options are endless!
We’re proud to offer exciting snowmobiling options to the Western Brook Gorge in Gros Morne National Park, as well as the Lomond Sinkhole.
The Sinkhole is a large depression in the earth that sinks down well over a hundred feet. A cascading waterfall pours from the top and disappears into the rocks below. In the winter, the water freezes up, forming amazing “ice sculptures.” It’s a fascinating place to visit and we can take you there!
Have you ever seen a fjord? Let us take you to the spectacular Western Brook Gorge in Gros Morne National Park. In the Long Range Mountains, the 600 metre rock walls were carved out of the surrounding plateau by glaciers. We also visit some of the many waterfalls in the area, one which is noted to be the largest in Eastern North America.
Guided full day options are available, with snowmobile rentals if required. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make it happen!

Sled Tours – Snowmobile Tours
Snowmobile tours are one of the most exciting and thrilling winter adventures you can have.
Marble Zip Tours (MZT) offers exhilarating snowmobile tours and rentals all winter. If you’re looking for a unique experience, why not take a day to enjoy some pristine Newfoundland mountain snowmobiling during the snowy season? Our snowmobiling season is slightly longer and, to the delight of snowmobilers, much longer than in other Canadian provinces. In Newfoundland, our winter, particularly our snowmobile season, can start as early as November and usually extend until May. Furthermore, we have more precipitation and annual snowfall than most other places in Canada. For these reasons, western Newfoundland and the nearby Town of Deer Lake are often referred to as the snowmobiling capital of Canada.
All rentals are priced per day (24 hours).
- Rental cost: $269.00 (Liquid-cooled Sled, 600 EFI)
**Helmets are Available – $20.00 for the duration of your rental
Snowmobile Rental Duration
- A single-day rental typically consists of 24 hours

Our Mountain Snowmobiling Gallery
Marble Zip Tours snowmobile tours are located conveniently at the base of Marble Mountain Ski Resort alongside some of the best, freshly-groomed mountain snowmobiling trails that Newfoundland, and even Canada, has to offer. The rugged, mountainous landscape is vastly different than other places in the Maritimes and central Canada so it’s no surprise that it is a highly sought-out, desirable destination for winter adventure seekers. If you are a thrill seeker, you’ll be especially excited to experience riding the edges of the nearby glacier-carved fjord in Gros Morne National Park or the vast open-air trails of the Tableland Mountains.
Another trendy and nearby snowmobile destination is the Blow Me Down Mountains, closely located to MZT. It is not uncommon for this area of Newfoundland’s west coast to average between 14 and 16 feet of snow annually. This trail climbs up behind Frenchman’s Cove on the south shore of the Bay of Islands to provide unparalleled views of the surrounding areas. You’ll enjoy your adventure on our all-new snowmobiles, which offer great performance, speed and torque. Whether with a guide or on our own, your day will be filled with countless opportunities for fantastic photography, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see Newfoundland’s abundant wildlife.
You can rent a snowmobile and explore the terrain with friends and family, or opt to go with one of our experienced and friendly guides*. If you decide to forgo a guide, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that our fleet of Ski-doo snowmobiles is new, regularly checked and maintained to guarantee your safety and optimal experience. The snowmobile tours we offer are perfect for beginners with little experience with Ski-doo. By the end of the day, we guarantee that you will have mastered the basic skills and knowledge about snowmobiles, backcountry, and mountain snowmobiling. When snowmobiling in Newfoundland, a license is not required to either rent or ride. Marble Zip Tours will provide a helmet to ensure your safety.
*Please call for tour guide availability; telephone: 709.632.5463
Walk-in customers are welcome; however, we advise you to reserve your rental. Snowmobile tours should be booked in advance. Snowmobiling in Newfoundland is breathtaking – so book now to see how we can make your winter exciting with our incredible snowmobile tours!

More than $1.6 million aimed at increasing and enhancing visitor experiences
May 17, 2024 · Gros Morne, Newfoundland and Labrador · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Stunning ocean vistas, vibrant communities, diverse cultures and amazing outdoor experiences; Gros Morne has it all.
The Government of Canada is helping tourism operators in the park and reinforcing its position as a global destination of choice for domestic and international travellers.
Federal investments boost regional tourism potential
Today, the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, announced total federal investments of $1,629,144 for three tourism-related projects in Gros Morne.
The Gros Morne Co-operating Association Inc. received $1,216,865 through ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) to implement the Seven Corners project in the Gros Morne National Park area. This initiative combines views and storytelling through a series of interactive installations and structures that encourage exploration and nature-based activities.
Cow Head Conservation and Heritage Inc., a charity dedicated to preserving local history, received $87,279 through the ICF to enhance and interpret the area’s significant cultural heritage sites for the purpose of offering more authentic cultural experiences to visitors.
Norock Associates Ltd. (BonTours) received a $325,000 repayable contribution through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP) to undertake a variety of improvements to its dock and ticket building at its boat tour operation in Bonne Bay. This will improve the efficiency of embarking and disembarking tourists from the vessels while also increasing the space and comfort for guests waiting for tours.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to build on regional strengths and create new opportunities for businesses and communities to grow and thrive – now and into the future.
“Gros Morne welcomes more than half the visitors to Newfoundland and Labrador each year. We see explorers, adventurers and new storytellers each and every day from all over the world. These investments today are making sure we are ready to showcase the authentic experiences and unparalleled natural attractions in our area while supporting our communities and local businesses.” - The Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA “Gros Morne Co-operating Association is working with communities in Gros Morne to form a regional partnership to focus on tourism development. This project is the first for the new partnership and one that highlights each town’s natural and cultural uniqueness.” - Colleen Kennedy, Executive Director, Gros Morne Co-operating Association Inc. “With ever-increasing numbers of travellers visiting the Bonne Bay area who are seeking unique ocean experiences, this project will allow us to improve and enhance our tour operations and the visitor experience. We are pleased that, through this project, we will improve accessibility for all visitors, provide a convenient and comfortable welcome area for our guests and increase and improve docking facilities for cruise ship passenger arrivals. This will contribute to increased visitation to the area and tourism growth in the region.” - Reginald Williams, President, Norock Associates Ltd. (BonTours) “The impact of funding from ACOA will enable us to offer our visitors even more authentic, holistic, and cultural tourism experiences that are geared toward ‘Telling our Stories’. As a museum and a festival, we enhance the visitor experience through the exposure we give to local folklore in telling our stories both orally and musically. Operating and maintaining the Dr. Henry N. Payne Community Museum & Crafts, we present an extremely welcome introduction to visitors of the local history of our community and area. This is a testament to the long-term commitment energy and dedication, borne by the fact that we expanded our activities outward from our museum into the full-fledged Gros Morne Fall Festival.” - Glenda Reid Bavis, Chair, Cow Head Conservation and Heritage Inc.
