Tom Cruise singing on Jimmy Fallon's show

Tom Cruise is one of the world's greatest film stars, and it turns out he's a fantastic live performer too.

In 2015, the Top Gun: Maverick actor appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the States, and shocked the audience with his impressive command of the stage.

  • Simon Cowell finally sang on the Got Talent stage and he was incredible
  • Tom Cruise fought for 'wingman' Val Kilmer to star in Top Gun sequel after his battle with cancer

OK, he wasn't actually singing, but rather taking part in the Lip Sync Battle segment of the show, miming along with The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face', but he was particularly great at it.

Watch the clip below:

Tom impressed the audience and Jimmy with his performance, which he followed up by lip-syncing to Meat Loaf 's 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'.

Even The Weeknd himself was amazed, tweeting about the show afterwards:

can't believe @TomCruise is singing my song. @jimmyfallon *** you're the MAN for this one. #tomcruisetomcruise ||| https://t.co/xVFZSkYCCx — The Weeknd (@theweeknd) July 28, 2015

But it's not like Tom can't sing at all. He's belted out the likes of 'Great Balls of Fire' in Top Gun , 'Free Fallin'' in Jerry Maguire and 'Addicted to Love' in Cocktail .

And of course, in 2012, he starred as stadium rock legend Stacy Jaxx in the musical Rock of Ages , where he convincingly performed various '80s anthems like 'Wanted Dead or Alive' and 'Pour Some Sugar on Me'.

Tom Cruise has just experienced the most successful film of his career, with Top Gun: Maverick grossing over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.

Tom Cruise Has Epic Lip Sync Battle With Jimmy Fallon, Covers Hit Songs by The Weeknd and Meatloaf

By zach johnson • published july 28, 2015 • updated on july 28, 2015 at 11:33 am.

Tom Cruise always gives 100 percent.

That was certainly evident when he agreed to have a lip sync battle with Jimmy Fallon on NBC's "The Tonight Show" Monday. Like John Krasinski and Emma Stone before him, the 53-year-old "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" star proved he's more than capable of challenging the late-night host's skills. In fact, the comedian himself admitted, "I'm facing off against one of the biggest movie stars of all time."

Before it even began, Cruise said, "This is going to be ridiculous."

As was the case with previous lip sync battles, neither the host nor the guest knew which songs their opponent picked to perform. Fallon and Cruise selected two songs each, and Cruise went first. "My first song has been at the top of the charts all summer long. It's the song of the summer. Right, Jim?" he said. "Remember that? It is by the enormously talented The Weeknd and it's entitled 'Can't Feel My Face.'" Cruise was so committed to his performance that even Fallon was seen dancing on the side of the stage. "Come on!" Fallon yelled. "Why am I even trying?"

Fallon admitted Cruise would be "hard to beat," but he still gave it his best shot. "My first song is one of my favorite bands, The Rolling Stones. This song is called 'Undercover of the Night,'" he said. Mick Jagger would be proud of Fallon's moves.

Before Cruise performed his second song, he asked, "What can I do now?"

That's when The Roots played the opening bars to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll." Cruise slid over to the microphone, "Risky Business" style, as Fallon stared at the actor in disbelief. "That wouldn't be fair, would it?" Cruise asked. The comedian pleaded, "Please do not do that! That would not be fair! Please!"

Cruise removed his suit jacket, but alas, he did not strip down to his briefs.

"No, that wouldn't be fair," he conceded. "So look, instead I'm gonna do something that takes me back to high school, the parking lot, on Friday night. Those Jersey girls would sing all the lyrics. Do you mind holding my coat for me? And the guys would just sit there and sweat, hearts pounding. This is for all those Jersey girls on the hot summer nights. It's by Meatloaf. It's called 'Paradise by the Dashboard.'"

Needless to say, it was a killer rendition. "Wow, that was awesome!" Fallon told Cruise. "You did a one-man duet! I've never seen that before!"

For his final song, Fallon asked Cruise for some help in lip syncing The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Loving Feeling." The actor happily obliged, and together, the two even serenaded one lucky audience member.

"Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" is in theaters Friday.

(E! and NBC are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)

Tom Cruise Can't Feel His Face In This Intense Lip Sync Battle

tom cruise singing but i love it

This is not the greatest lip-syncing performance of Tom Cruise 's life, because that honor will be reserved, forever, obviously , for his underpants-clad rendition of "Old Time Rock and Roll" in "Risky Business."

But this one is still a close second.

Cruise was on "The Tonight Show" Monday (July 27) to promote the latest "Mission Impossible," where he took the stage opposite Jimmy Fallon in a battle to see who gave better lip.

The actor did an emotional rendition of The Weeknd's "I Can't Feel My Face," and an energetic rendition of Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," but we're gonna go ahead and say that he won the compteition on Jimmy's turn, when it turned out that a lady in the audience had lost that lovin' feelin'.

Whoooooaaaaa-oh-oh-oh OHHHHHHH .

James Corden said farewell to CBS on Thursday evening by doing something no one ever thought would be possible: Getting Tom Cruise to sing Elton John’s hit ballad “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

Popular on Variety

“I love you Tom,” Corden added. “I know,” responded Cruise, before hopping on a waiting helicopter.

Also on the primetime special: A final “Carpool Karaoke,” featuring Adele — who had surprised Corden at his house for a drive to the show’s Television City studio. Between driving and singing, Adele also grilled Corden on his memories about “The Late Late Show.”

“The thing I was most worried about was how do we get guests on the show?” he said. “I mean, we couldn’t book anyone. And then things like ‘Carpool,’ I mean, no one would do it.” Mariah Carey became the first performer to say yes, but as Corden recalled, things changed when she arrived: “Mariah comes out and the first thing she says to me, ‘I’ll do the chat. I ain’t singing.’” Carey, of course, wound up singing — and “Carpool Karaoke” became an institution.

Corden responded, “It was work stuff and the internet and it was all those things.” Responded Adele: “It got me thinking I felt so unsafe with you feeling unsafe. Then I went to the studio a couple of weeks later and I wrote this. I remember I sang it into my phone and I sent it to you.” Said Corden: “It was everything that I was feeling that day. I was floored by how you’d managed to take everything that I was feeling about myself and life and just put it in a verse. It’s the greatest privilege that from some a conversation between two friends that you would create such a thing. It blows my mind.”

Adele rounded the “Carpool” out by asking Corden what he’d miss most. “I’ll miss I miss everything,” he said. “I think I underestimated how many friends I’d make doing this. More than anything, I will just miss going into work with my friends every day. And I’m really gonna miss Los Angeles. I love it. It’s been a brilliant adventure.”

Later, the final episode of “ The Late Late Show with James Corden ” opened with a bit of a tease: Corden did a victory lap with staff – and then proceeded to get “stuck” in a stairwell.

Then he opened with the usual check-in with the “Late Late Show” cast of staff characters. “This is the final ‘Late Late Show’ in the history of CBS and I’m telling you tonight finally we are in determined to get it right this time,” he quipped. Corden’s parents and sisters were in the audience, and he welcomed guests Harry Styles and Will Ferrell (who proceeded to destroy Corden’s desk with a sledgehammer).

But first, one more sketch: Fellow late night hosts Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert appeared in Corden’s bedroom, warning him that he can’t just leave his show — at least, not without handing over his bits. Also appearing in the sketch: David Letterman, and later, Trevor Noah (as fellow talk retiree Noah and Corden are seen, “six months later,” on “The Masked Singer” set).

Corden noted that this sketch was yet another example of how the so-called late night wars are no longer a thing. He shared to the audience that Fallon had sent an ice cream truck for the show’s crew.

The episode also featured a special message from President Biden: “Thank you for all the joy you brought homes across America,” he said in the taped piece. “Special thanks for never asking me to sing in the car with you.”

With Styles and Ferrell, Corden played one final game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts.” Asked who his favorite late night host will be now, Ferrell said Seth Meyers — but ate some terrible food anyway. And when Styles was asked whether One Direction would ever reunite, he admitted, “I would never say never.”

“But I sit here now, today, with nothing but love, gratitude and pride. This show is everything I ever wanted it to be.”

After thanking his team, as well as CBS, Corden turned serious: “You know we started this show with Obama, then Trump then a global pandemic. And I’ve watched America change a lot. Over these past few years, I’ve watched divisions grow. And I’ve seen and I felt a sense of negativity bubble and at points boil over.

“I guess all I really want to say tonight is I implore you to remember what America signifies to the rest of the world. My entire life, it has always been a place of optimism and joy. And yes, it has flaws. So many. But show me a country that doesn’t. Show me a person that doesn’t. Me, you all of us. We are all trying to figure this out. We are every single one of us a work in progress. And just because somebody disagrees with you. It doesn’t make them bad or evil. We are all more the same than we are different. And there are so many people who are trying to stoke those differences. And we have to try as best we can to look for the light. Look for the joy. Because if you do, it’s out there.

“And that’s all this show has ever been about. All we’ve ever wanted is just be a little bit of light and levity at the end of your day. Thank you for letting me do this. Thank you for allowing me into your home every night.”

With that, “The Late Late Show with James Corden” ended with one final number, Corden singing a farewell tune, “That’s Our Show.”

Watch Tom Cruise Lip Sync Meat Loaf And More On The Tonight Show

tom cruise singing but i love it

Before the world at large gets a chance to see Tom Cruise hanging off of airplanes and diving into underwater action sequences in MIssion Impossible: Rogue Nation , we got to see him at his low-budget finest on The Tonight Show as he took on Jimmy Fallon in a battle of mostly outstanding lip syncing. Meat Loaf. Rolling Stones. The Weeknd . It’s all here.

Love him or hate him, Tom Cruise is undeniably a superstar entertainer, and it doesn’t take much to set off the charm-oozing, and not even keeping him quiet can stop the Cruise-inator (or a cooler nickname), as that one scene in Top Gun originally proved. But that song comes later. First, Cruise shows off his modern side by embracing one of the biggest songs of 2015, The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”

And while it’s an enjoyable take on the song, things don’t get really real until Fallon kicks off The Rolling Stones’ “Undercover of the Night.” My mind started wondering what a Mick Jagger biopic would look like with Fallon in the lead, which is a thought that previously would have cured me of “good dreams” and “a non-upset stomach,” but now I think I might like it. He’s got the in-your-camera’s-face moves, and he didn’t even laugh at himself the entire time. It probably takes more than that, but still.

”the

Back to Cruise, who knows a thing or two about rocking out from the film Rock of Ages. He brings it all back to his youth, when things that we’ll just assume are too hot for TV happened in parking lots, and he unleashes his dual personalities for Meat Loaf’s anthem “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.” Even though Fallon might not have known what Cruise was going to pick, the camera operators sure did, and this self-duet was captured perfectly.

”the

And now I’m praying for the end of time, so I can have enough time to focus on my own lip syncing skills. But regardless of how much practice I get, there’s no way I could top the duo’s performance of the Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling,” a track that I’m certain millions of dude in the 1980s (codenamed Maverick, of course) used to creep on women in bars. Fallon and Cruise head into the audience, where they silently serenade a lucky/unlucky woman in the front row. If this isn’t magic, then magic doesn’t exist.

”the

I don’t know that Tom Cruise would ever make his way over to Spike’s Lip Sync Battle , but Fallon needs to grease some wheels on making that happen. Until then, we’ve got our fingers crossed that Bob the Musical turns into a reality soon. What will The Tonight Show get into next? Find out every weeknight on NBC.

Corden has opened up on why he's leaving the show and America after eight years of making people laugh and sing.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on Radio 2, he said: "It's a strange one, I haven't really felt like this before.

"I remember when we did last episode of Gavin and Stacey , I remember sitting with Ruth jones and crying, but that was done in blocks, we'd film it, go off and then come again.

"But The Late Late Show has been a pretty consistent, it's been 8 years, tomorrow will be 1,200th show - crazy!"

He added: "I feel good about it, I just know in my core its right thing to do for so many personal and professional reasons.

"We're really gonna try and go out with a bang, the last few shows we've done has been brilliant, the atmosphere in the studio is great, we've got some really big guests come down and do stuff, tomorrow's show is gonna be great!

"I wanna cherish it and not spend the whole day crying, I wanna feel the pride and gratitude for it all."

James Corden and Tom Cruise perform on ‘The Lion King’ stage for their final ‘Late Late Show’ skit

THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN

Tom Cruise has gone from “All the Right Moves” to all the right notes.

Cruise joined James Corden April 27 on the final episode of his “The Late Late Show” by performing alongside him in a production of “The Lion King” at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.

The bit opened with Corden recruiting a reluctant Cruise to take part in the show, noting that the two of them had pulled off some amazing stunts together when Cruise has appeared on the program.

“In the eight years that I’ve hosted ‘The Late Late Show,’ we’ve been skydiving, you’ve flown me upside down, and today you’re going to enter my world, alright?” Corden said.

Corden then introduced Cruise to the "Lion King" cast and the pair did some exercises to prepare, including dancing to the “Mission: Impossible” theme song and using some of the character costumes to recreate the famous “You can’t handle the truth” scene from “A Few Good Men.”

THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN

Cruise also gave a spirited pre-show speech to the cast. Then, the curtain went up and Corden and Cruise walked onto the stage from the back of the theater. After they finished their part, Cruise thought they were done, but Corden rallied him to keep it up.

The duo then returned to the stage, with the curtain lifting up to show them, prompting the audience to hoot and holler and in delight.

“Hakuna Matata. What a wonderful phrase,” Corden, as Timon, said.

“Hakuna Matata, ain’t no passing craze,” Cruise, as Pumbaa, half-sang, half-spoke.

THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN

They then launched into a song and dance of “Hakuna Matata” while the audience cheered and Cruise later tried to hit a high note belting out the line, “When I was a young warthog!”

They wrapped up their song to a thunderous round of applause and a standing ovation from some people in the audience. The crowd went nuts again when they came out to take their bows after the performance ended.

Later, the two had a funny moment when Corden confronted Cruise about how he’ll “find yourself another late night host” to promote his future projects.

THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN

“When ‘Mission: Impossible 12’ comes out, you’re not going to think of me. You’re going to be off base jumping with Bowen Yang,” he said in mock anger.

“I’m not the one turning my back on everything that we have, everything that we’ve created,” Cruise fired back. “This is your last show. You did this to us.”

Cruise then went off to have drinks with some of “The Lion King” cast, but as he sat at a table, he began to sing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” with Corden still sitting in the theater, joining in for an unlikely duet. A montage of their moments on “The Late Late Show” played on the screen while they reunited on top of a building, continuing to sing.

THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN

As Corden apologized for their tiff, Cruise told him to "shut up" while referencing “Jerry Maguire.”

“You had me at hello,” he said.

“I love you, Tom,” Corden said.

“I know," Cruise said, as he walked away to a waiting helicopter while the “Mission: Impossible” music played, leaving Corden stranded on the roof.

James Corden’s Farewell Includes Duet With Tom Cruise and Parting Message to U.S.: ‘Remember What America Signifies’

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

James Corden said farewell to CBS on Thursday evening by doing something no one ever thought would be possible: Getting Tom Cruise to sing Elton John’s hit ballad “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

After an opening “The Last Last Late Late Show with James Corden Carpool Karaoke Special” by singing “Last Show” (to the tune of “Last Dance”), and quick opening monologue, Corden switched to its heavily promoted final pre-tape with Cruise.  As previously announced, the action star icon and the host joined a performance of “The Lion King” at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The first part of the clip showed the two rehearsing and singing on stage in costume — but from there, the sketch turned into a bit of a farewell between the two.

As Corden played up his sadness at saying farewell to Cruise, the duo broke into the John song (which, of course, won an Oscar in 1994 for its part in the animated “Lion King” film). Corden began: “Tom, I mean, everything you’ve done for my show, everything you’ve done for me, I’ll never be able to…” Cruise interrupted him: “James, you had me at hello.”

“I love you Tom,” Corden added. “I know,” responded Cruise, before hopping on a waiting helicopter.

Things then got serious as Adele discussed how her song “I Drink Wine” was inspired by a conversation she and Corden had about their lives. “The first verse of this song, which I think is some of my best writing I’ve ever done even if I do say so myself, was inspired by a conversation that you and I had had,” she said. “We’d just been on vacation together with the kids and we were on our way home and my mood had changed. It was like the first year that I felt like I had to hold myself accountable for just being an adult, whereas the year before that, I left Simon and stuff like that. You were like an always an adult to me, you would always give me this advice. And then I remember I said to you on the way home, what’s wrong? You just seemed down and you let it all out to me. You didn’t feel strong and we were having a six hour conversation about it. It was like the whole way home.”

Later, the final episode of “The Late Late Show with James Corden” opened with a bit of a tease: Corden did a victory lap with staff – and then proceeded to get “stuck” in a stairwell.

Corden ended the final episode with a message for his audience: “I’m thinking for a while, the last few weeks about what I was gonna say as we come to the end of the show after this wonderful adventure and I’ve struggled at times to find the words to sum up what this past eight years has meant to me. It is almost impossible. I frankly don’t know where to start.

Top songs: a guide to Tom Cruise singing cheesy tunes in movies

Might as well face it, Tom Cruise is addicted to belting out an off-key classic in his films. Here's a quick guide to some of his most memorable – and more forgettable – moments on the mic

tom cruise singing but i love it

Photos: Alamy/Collage: The Big Issue

Ace fighter pilot, champion stock car racer, secret agent extraordinaire, barman at TGI Fridays: Tom Cruise has lived exciting lives which we mere mortals can only dream of through his blockbuster acting roles. And yet, from watching the vertically challenged sexy scientologist’s movies over the years, I can’t help but sense that his greatest ambition in life has never been fully realised.

I still haven’t seen Top Gun: Maverick – and I understand he judiciously leaves the theme song to Lady Gaga – but if it doesn’t feature a scene in which Cruise wonkily if gamely sings his little heart out to some sort of vintage rock’n’roll tune then he is selling us all and indeed himself short. The man clearly just wants to sing!

Not content merely packing the soundtracks of his movies with hit songs that can have taken anywhere between three and seven minutes to write – be it Take a Look Around , Limp Bizkit’s butthurt riff on a Lalo Schifrin TV theme classic from 2000’s Mission: Impossible 2 , or Paul McCartney’s fantastically lazy Vanilla Sky from 2001’s film of the same name (sample lyric: “Tonight you fly so high up/In the vanilla sky” ) – Cruise has on many a memorable occasion grabbed the mic himself, only rarely crashing and burning in the process. Shake your nerves and rattle your brain, with a short history of Tom Cruise singing in films.

Great Balls of Fire  – Top Gun (1986)

Whether it’s spectacular aerial dogfights or a very homoerotic beach volleyball match, Cruise’s breakout action classic is full of memorable scenes, including not just one but two where he sings. The best is of course when Mav and Goose and their respective better halves are drunk in a bar, and Goose is banging away at an upright piano with his young son perched on top, and the two BFFs are going ballistic howling Jerry Lee Lewis’s horndog anthem like a right pair of flaming testes. Unbearably wholesome content.

Addicted to Love  – Cocktail (1988)

It’s hard to believe it happened not long after Top Gun , but Cruise’s arguably worst-ever film saw him play a flair bartender at a MOR American chain restaurant, serving up extravagantly made boozes with often sexy results. His credentials as the money-maker shakin’ lothario who can also do you a decent margarita are burnished by a scene in which the erotic mixologist starts ad-libbing to Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love behind the bar while a woman stares at him longingly, whether smitten or perhaps just wondering when the hell she’s getting her drink.

Free Fallin’  – Jerry Maguire (1996)

He’s a cocky American sports agent just been binned from his job, she’s a naive and let’s face it desperate secretary and single mum (played by the future multiple Oscar-winning Renée Zellweger). Their relationship makes no sense whatsoever and is actually quite tragic. But watch this much-overrated romcom anyway for the always enjoyable scene where Jerry’s driving off from doing what he thinks is a career-saving deal, searching the radio for a song to match his ecstatic mood, before finally settling on Tom Petty’s 1989 classic Free Fallin’ . Cue Cruise frantically car singing along at the top of his voice with no-one’s-listening aplomb.

Little Deuce Coupe  – War of the Worlds (2005)

“The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, but still they come!” OK, so sadly Cruise didn’t have a go at singing Jeff Wayne’s 1978 funky prog-rock opera based on HG Wells’ Victorian era proto-sci-fi frightener. But in playing the unlikely part of the deadbeat dad in Steven Spielberg’s 2005 blockbuster movie adaptation, he does have a pretty sweet moment when, searching his mind in vain for a lullaby to sing his terrified daughter, from somewhere he comes up with The Beach Boys’ 1963 hot-rod rock ode, sung in a fragile reedy voice with tears in his eyes.

Various songs  – Rock of Ages (2012)

Perhaps we should be more careful what we wish for. Back in 2012, Cruise really did get to fulfil many of his obvious rock star fantasies by joining the ensemble cast of a film based on a popular glam-rock Broadway jukebox musical. The actor took lessons with Axl Rose’s vocal coach to get up to scratch for his role as brooding superstar Stacey Jaxx, and ended up singing surprisingly passable lead vocals on various songs including Guns N’ Roses’ Paradise City , Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead or Alive and Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar on Me . Luckily the film tanked at the box office, and music’s loss remains acting’s gain.

Rock of Ages first listen: Can Tom Cruise actually sing?

Critics get a taste of the actor's take on Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me" in the upcoming rock musical — and they aren't so sweet on it

Tom Cruise certainly pulls off the look of the '80s rockers he's fashioned after, but his vocals aren't as on point.

The audio: Tom Cruise is, apparently, "hot sticky sweet." But can he sing? Ever since the Mission: Impossible star was cast in the upcoming musical Rock of Ages , based on the jukebox Broadway show of the same name, critics wondered whether he had the vocal chops to pull off the role. In the film, out June 15, Cruise plays Stacee Jaxx, a bare-chested, chaps-wearing rocker in the mold of Poison's Bret Michaels, who is tasked with belting out rock and roll classics like "Paradise City" and "Wanted Dead or Alive." The first audio clip of the actor singing the Def Leppard track "Pour Some Sugar On Me" was released Tuesday. (Listen to it below.) Cruise claims that the hair band already gave his performance its stamp of approval .

The reaction: Cruise may look the part of the long-haired, tatted-up rocker in the preview images we've seen, says Mary Ouellette at Loudwire , but his vocals are too Broadway. He lacks Def Leppard's "imperfections and reckless abandon," and sounds "more like he's singing a showtune than a rock anthem." What vocals? says Billy Dukes at Ultimate Classic Rock . He's drowned out by the ramped-up background production. While Cruise's version will bring the classic track to a new audience, "it fails to separate itself form the original in any remarkable way." He sounds fine, says Katey Rich at Cinema Blend . Cruise "always seemed like one of those people who can do just about everything well." The true test, though, will be whether he can pull off those crazy '80s dance moves. Listen to Cruise's "Sugar" rendition:

How Suri Cruise's estrangement from dad Tom Cruise would have affected her growing up

The teenager was six when her parents tom cruise and katie holmes split.

Ainhoa Barcelona

Suri Cruise has not been publicly seen with her father Tom Cruise since she was a little girl. The pair have been reportedly estranged for well over a decade .

Suri, who has a very close bond with her mother Katie Holmes , with whom she lives in New York City, was six when her parents divorced.

As a young girl, she did appear to have a close relationship with the Top Gun  actor and was very much part of his spotlight.

Suri Cruise's lifestyle has changed dramatically since her childhood

So how will this estrangement have affected Suri growing up, going from having a constant connection to her dad, to a non-existent one in a flash?

Suri's absent father growing up

"Suri may well have felt quite confused at the time as to why her dad left," Lindsay George , BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist, told HELLO!

Describing children's attachment styles in layman's terms, Lindsay explained that Suri and Tom may have had a secure attachment up until the point of their estrangement.

"We can speculate that he was present and an emotionally available dad. Obviously, she's got her mum too, so potentially, Suri's attachment style is secure because she's had two parents emotionally and physically available in those early years of her life , which is super important."

However, the difference is stark when that security is suddenly taken away.

"Children develop coping mechanisms if their needs aren't met, for example, their dad doesn't come back," said Lindsay. "So Suri will have found a way of coping with that level of anxiety, because that will have manifested as anxiety at that age. It would have made her feel unsafe and insecure despite reassurance from her mum ."

This can present itself in an anxious attachment style, where we seek reassurance from whatever or whoever, Lindsay explained. Or it could also translate into an ambivalent attachment style. " In other words, we emotionally abandon our needs, and we find a way of detaching from big things. "

Her close relationship with mother Katie

While a sudden change in family dynamic can provoke anxiety in a child, one positive to come out of such a situation is the child becoming more resilient – not to mention a strengthened bond with the remaining parent or caregiver.

"Suri will have developed a very secure, reliable, and consistent attachment style, which means that she feels safe and secure in relation to her mum," said Lindsay.

" Katie will have reinforced these feelings of safety and security and encouraged her daughter to develop a sense of self , which may be, 'Actually, I'm okay and I don't need my dad. I don't need a man to do things for me.'

"So, it's a reinforcement for girls to feel good about themselves if they get to that point. Suri is 18 so she's done the hard groundwork. She's got to this point where she can almost take the control back in her own hands ."

Turning 18 and becoming an adult

Suri celebrated her milestone 18th birthday last month. She was spotted in New York City on the eve of her birthday, carrying an array of gifts as she walked with friends.

She has kept largely out of the spotlight since her parents' divorce in 2012 and was raised in Los Angeles before relocating with her mother Katie to the Big Apple.

The Dawson's Creek  alum has always spoken about their close relationship, telling  Glamour  last year: "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her. I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

Developing suri's talent.

Speaking to InStyle in 2022, Katie also said: "I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 per cent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it."

It's clear that Suri has developed her parents' talents for performing and showcased her incredible singing voice back in 2022. She sang the opening credits of Katie's film, Alone Together , when she was just 15.

When asked why she chose Suri for the job, the actress and director sweetly told  Yahoo! Entertainment : "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her."

Tom Petty Tribute Shows? Mike Campbell Has ‘Mixed Feelings’

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2026, and there’s already talk of a tribute show to mark the occasion. But Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell isn’t sure he wants to do it.

“The management said that if we did it, we’d get the original band back together, have some guest singers, and maybe just do a couple of shows,” Campbell tells Rolling Stone . “But then I always throw my hands up and go, ‘I can’t think about that. I’m not ready to go back and do that.’ And I don’t want to do anything to dishonor the legacy. I’m not sure how that would feel to me, to have a bunch of people singing Tom’s parts. I’m open, but I’m not overly enthralled with the idea.”

Campbell has spent the past few years touring and recording with his band the Dirty Knobs. Their live show is heavy on their original tunes, though they always sprinkle in a handful of Petty classics like “You Wreck Me” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” They broke out far more Oct. 20, 2023, when they played a gig at the Bellwether in Los Angeles. It happened to be Petty’s birthday, and they celebrated him with a 10-song encore of his music. “We wanted to honor Tom and my old band,” says Campbell. “And it was emotional, it was beautiful. It was like a real high point of my life, one of my favorite gigs ever.”

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Another flashback to his past came Sept. 23, 2023, when Campbell backed Bob Dylan at Farm Aid alongside the Dirty Knobs and Benmont Tench. They took the stage near the end of the night and tore through “Maggie’s Farm,” “Positively 4th Street,” and “Ballad of a Thin Man” without a word of introduction. (Petty and the Heartbreakers played behind Dylan on a mid-1980s tour.)

“That was pure Bob,” says Campbell. “I got the call that said, ‘Bob wants you to put a little band together to do Farm Aid,’ ” says Campbell. “So I used my band, and Benmont came up and played with us. And it was a flashback because we went around the world with Bob [in 1986 and 1987], and there we were again onstage. In fact, the first gig we ever played was the first Farm Aid ever, with Bob. And then there we were at Farm Aid again. It was spontaneous and exciting and a joy. He’s just always fun to be around.”

The three-song set marked the first time Dylan played guitar (not to mention “Maggie’s Farm” and “Positively 4th Street”) in quite some time. Might something like that happen again? “It’s up to Bob,” Campbell says. “I mean, he’s pretty busy. If he gives me a call, I’d certainly take it. But there’s no specific plans now.”

Whatever happens going forward, Campbell’s focus remains the Dirty Knobs, who will release the new album Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits on June 14. “There’s so much processed music now,” he says. “But we’re old-school. I like to hear guys breathing together when they play live. That’s what the Dirty Knobs are all about.”

They’ve had the chance to open up for the Who and Chris Stapleton at arena and stadium gigs over the past few years. “Those kind of things just pop out of the blue,” Campbell says. “That’s what my life is like, things just fall on my lap. Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, the Who … I get a call and say, ‘Hey, this came up, what do you think?’ I don’t go looking for that stuff, but it seems to find me.”

Nicole Kidman's 4 Children: All About Bella, Connor, Sunday and Faith

Nicole Kidman shares two children, Bella and Connor, with ex Tom Cruise, and two daughters, Sunday and Faith, with husband Keith Urban

tom cruise singing but i love it

Nicole Kidman is the proud mother of four kids.

The Big Little Lies star shares two children, Bella and Connor, with ex-husband Tom Cruise . She also has two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, with her longtime love Keith Urban , to whom she's been married for nearly two decades.

Kidman became a first-time mother in 1993, when she and her then-husband Cruise adopted their daughter, Bella. A few years later, the pair welcomed son Connor into their family. Though Kidman and Cruise split in 2001, she told Elle in 2008 that the former couple's kids were raised "amidst a lot of love."

"They are generous, kind and hardworking," Kidman later said of her two older children. "And these are traits that I love to see in my children ."

After splitting from Cruise, the Being the Ricardos actress went on to marry Urban on June 25, 2006. Two years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Sunday Rose, followed by her younger sister, Faith Margaret, in 2010.

Kidman, who has been open about her fertility struggles, told Marie Claire Australia in 2021 that she always wanted a big family. "I would've loved 10 kids," she said. "I love mothering, I love kids: They're quirky, funny and unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way."

Kidman said that her daughters are part of her support system while talking to PEOPLE for the magazine's 50th anniversary in April 2024.

"I have my sister, mother, nieces, nephews, daughters. I'm raising a soon-to-be 16-year-old and a 13-year-old, who are divine. They're just lovely people ," she said.

From everything she's said about being a mother to her sweetest moments with her children, here's what to know about Nicole Kidman 's four kids: Bella, Connor, Sunday and Faith.

Bella Kidman Cruise , 31

Kidman and Cruise adopted daughter Isabella Jane shortly after her birth in Miami on Dec. 22, 1992.

"From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies ," Kidman told Vanity Fair in 2007. "And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella."

Though she grew up with her father in Beverly Hills, Isabella – who goes by the nickname Bella – has stayed mostly out of the spotlight. She graduated from West London's Delmar Academy of Make-up and Hair, before transitioning to a career in fashion.

The burgeoning designer got her start working for Holmes and Yang, the fashion line of Cruise's ex-wife, Katie Holmes . She started her own line , BKC (a.k.a Bella Kidman Cruise), in 2018, selling t-shirts adorned with her own drawings.

"Bella has been an artist her entire life. Her go-to medium is marker on paper with her inspiration for her artwork drawn largely from friends, fashion, and music," a statement on her line's site reads .

In 2015, she married British I.T. consultant Max Parker , and though neither of her famous parents attended the nuptials, Cruise reportedly helped pay for the event, while a Kidman source told PEOPLE that she was " very happy for Bella ."

While Bella tends to keep a low profile, she does maintain an active Instagram presence , regularly posting photos of her art along with the occasional selfie. In March 2023, she even debuted a new hairstyle on the app, showing off her newly dark brunette shag haircut and bangs.

In December 2023, former NFL player Derrick Brooks shared a photo on Instagram of himself posing with Bella, Connor and Cruise at a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game — the actor's first public outing with his two older children in nearly 15 years.

"Good Evening, Wow, look who stopped by my office before our @tblightning game tonight! @tomcruise. I was a little star struck but played it cool and He said he was too!" Brooks wrote in his caption.

Connor Cruise , 29

Kidman and Cruise adopted their second child, son Connor, just after his birth in Florida on Jan. 17, 1995. Though her marriage to Cruise ended six years later, the actress has expressed her gratitude for the relationship, as it brought her her two older children.

"I got married really fast and really young," Kidman said in 2012. "But I don't regret that because it got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period."

Connor grew up in Los Angeles, and got his first real taste of the spotlight in 2008, when he acted alongside Will Smith in the drama Seven Pounds . Though he also had a role in the 2012 action film Red Dawn , he switched to music as a teen, releasing his debut single in 2013 and landing DJ gigs around the country.

Connor is also an avid deep-sea fisherman, a passion he attributes to his travels with his parents growing up. "We used to go fishing a lot when I was a little kid," he told PEOPLE in 2016. "I was blessed to travel the world as a young kid and now I'm traveling the world working."

The 29-year-old now resides in Florida and dedicates much of his time to fishing, as a source told PEOPLE in 2018. " Connor has a pretty simple life in Clearwater ," the insider said. "He lives in his own home in a Scientology community. His life is deep-sea fishing. He has a lot of friends and seems very well-liked."

In addition to his personal Instagram account — where he occasionally posts snaps of his impressive catches — he also runs a separate account dedicated to his barbecuing business, Connor's Meatshack .

Most recently, Connor shared a photo from a golf outing in April 2023. In the snap , he can be seen giving a thumbs up to the camera as he hits the course with a friend. "🏌️‍♂️⛳️," he captioned the image.

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban , 15

Kidman and Urban welcomed daughter Sunday Rose on July 7, 2008, in Nashville. According to PEOPLE, Kidman's father first suggested the name Sunday in honor of the Australian patron of the arts, Sunday Reed. The couple, who claim Sunday as their "favorite day," were clearly on board.

When Sunday was young, the family relocated to Tennessee. In addition to picking up her parents' Australian lingo, Sunday adopted a bit of a Southern accent.

"My daughters are Nashvillians! They have a southern drawl," Kidman told PEOPLE in 2016. "They have some Aussie. They have an unusual mix. They're hybrids."

Her Aussie accent isn't the only way she's following in her mom and dad's footsteps — Sunday has had a passion for music since she was a little girl.

"She sings incessantly," Kidman said in 2010 of her then-2-year-old-daughter. "She has a repertoire of about 30 songs: 'The ABC Song,' 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Traffic Light,' 'So Long, Farewell.' "

It also seems like Sunday wants to follow her mother into the filmmaking industry. In a 2018 interview for TIME 100, Kidman shared that Sunday was already thinking of pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.

"I'm raising a little girl that's showing an interest in directing right now, " she said. "I want her to have a path for that."

At the 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival, Kidman told E! News that Sunday also does some acting: "My daughter just got cast in her school play," she said. "So, that's been the main priority, learning lines with her."

Sunday and Faith made their red carpet debut in April 2024 at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala, where their mom was the evening's honoree. "They're very, very supportive and incredibly loving ," Kidman told PEOPLE at the star-studded Los Angeles event.

Faith Margaret Kidman Urban , 13

Kidman and Urban surprised fans when they announced that they had welcomed daughter Faith Margaret via gestational surrogate on Dec. 28, 2010, in Nashville.

Like her sister, Faith's name has a sweet meaning. Despite their fertility struggles, Kidman and Urban " never gave up faith they'd have another child together," a friend of the couple told PEOPLE after her birth. As for her middle name, "Margaret" comes from Kidman's grandmother.

Juggling two young daughters with Kidman and Urban's busy careers isn't easy, though the actress told PEOPLE in 2019 that their family always comes first.

"At this stage in our lives, it's what works for the family and what works for our own joy," she said of avoiding jobs that mean too much time away from their daughters.

Kidman and Urban have done their best to keep their daughters' lives private, though both Faith and Sunday have occasionally made public appearances over the years. They were extras in their mom's HBO show Big Little Lies , and voiced baby birds in the film Angry Birds 2 . The girls even became close with the children of Kidman's Big Little Lies costars, as she explained to PEOPLE.

"They've grown up with those kids because I had them on-set around Monterey, and I'm like, 'Playdates, playdates!' " she said.

The pandemic brought on new challenges for Kidman's two younger children. Speaking to Glamour U.K. in November 2020, she explained that Faith and Sunday were " working through the emotions " of social distancing.

"One of the hardest things is just watching them pine and yearn for their friends," she added.

Earlier that year, Kidman spoke to Marie Claire Australia about how her husband was outnumbered and had to retreat from the "female-heavy" house on occasion.

" We're definitely female-heavy ! But as the girls say, 'The dog's a boy!' " she joked, adding that her husband finds solace in one of his shared hobbies with Faith.

"Oh, and he Googles cars — I'll know when he's stressed 'cause he's Googling cars," she said. "I couldn't care less what car I'm driving; you can pick me up in any old thing. But Keith and Faith love cars."

Though Kidman rarely posts her children on social media, she did share a sweet tribute for Faith's 11th birthday in December 2021. "Happy birthday our darling Faith. You are loved beyond measure," she captioned a photo of her daughter's birthday cake.

TOM CRUISE Sings GUNS N' ROSES Classic 'Paradise City'; Audio Available

The soundtrack to the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical "Rock Of Ages" , which showcases popular rock songs from the '70s and '80s, features the cast — Tom Cruise , Catherine Zeta-Jones , Russell Brand and Julianne Hough — singing some of the greatest hits of the "hair-band" era.

Due to be released June 5 — ten days before the film hits theatres — "Rock Of Ages: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" includes Cruise 's renditions of DEF LEPPARD 's "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and GUNS N' ROSES ' "Paradise City" .

"Rock Of Ages: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" features the following track listing:

01. Paradise City (Tom Cruise) 02. Sister Christian / Just Like Paradise/Nothin' But a Good Time (Diego Boneta) 03. Juke Box Hero / I Love Rock 'N' Roll (Diego Boneta) 04. Hit Me With Your Best Shot (Catherine Zeta-Jones) 05. Waiting For A Girl Like You Diego Boneta 06. More Than Words / Heaven (Diego Boneta) 07. Wanted Dead Or Alive (Julianne Hough) 08. I Want To Know What Love Is (Malin Akerman) 09. I Wanna Rock (Diego Boneta) 10. Pour Some Sugar On Me (Tom Cruise) 11. Harden My Heart (Julianne Hough) 12. Shadows Of The Night / Harden My Heart (Julianne Hough) 13. Here I Go Again (Diego Boneta) 14. Can't Fight This Feeling (Russell Brand) 15. Any Way You Want It (Julianne Hough) 16. Undercover Love (Diego Boneta) 17. Every Rose Has Its Thorn (Diego Boneta) 18. Rock You Like A Hurricane (Julianne Hough) 19. We Built This City / We're Not Gonna Take It (Russell Brand) 20. Don't Stop Believin' (Diego Boneta)

"Rock Of Ages: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" is now available for streaming in its entirety at AOL Music .

In a brand new interview with Playboy.com , Cruise stated about his first attempt at singing, "I knew I could hold a note. I sang in a glee club when I was 14 years old and in a high school musical. But I never had a singing lesson. No one ever taught me how to use my voice.

It was previously reported that Cruise was preparing for his role by training with Axl Rose 's vocal coach. "He was an opera singer who taught me how to control my voice," Cruise said. "It's like learning a new sport or a skill for a character. I had to find out how to move air through the vocal cords and where to place it in my head, in the chest. It's something you have to do every day to strengthen your voice."

The first song Cruise sang in front of a crowd was "Pour Some Sugar On Me" , with members of DEF LEPPARD watching him.

"I was down in Miami, recording different songs, and Adam [ Shankman , director] called and said, ' DEF LEPPARD 's coming by the set,'" Cruise told Playboy.com . "I said, 'Man, that's cool.' Then I paused. 'Wait, I'm rehearsing their song tomorrow.' And he's like, 'Yeah!' [laughs] So we started right in the deep end, and that was the first scene I shot in the movie. It's a great song, and I grew up listening to them. They went to the back of the Bourbon Room, and I looked at my band and was like, 'Hit it.' All the crew was watching them watching me. . . [After the song was done] the lead singer, Joe Elliott , points at me and goes, 'Fuck you! Fuck you!' Then I saw big smiles on their faces, and I realized I'd gotten their stamp. It was a very cool moment. It was important they knew I was honoring their music and not making fun of them."

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen recently told VH1 Classic Rock Nights that Cruise "was a super-lovely guy" when they met. Collen added, "I was so impressed because he hadn't sung before and he had vocal lessons. He was literally doing five hours a day, five days a week, like truly real, getting in there and doing it. And we saw him and he was amazing, it was like Iggy Pop meets someone else and he's in great shape and it was like, 'What!?!' It was surreal, but he really pulls it off and it was like he's a total rock star."

Tom Cruise stars in "Rock Of Ages" as Stacee Jaxx , an aging musician whose glory days are long past.

Adam Anders , executive music producer for the film and album, recently told The Hollywood Reporter about Cruise 's vocal skills, "He had never sung in his life. He was like, 'I need to know that I can do this before I sign on.' So I went to his house to hear him sing and even though he was completely green as a singer, his vocal cords were amazing. He had this voice that blew me away. It was the most powerful voice I had ever heard. So loud. He could do anything and go as high as we wanted. It was like a kid discovering he had a new toy. I left there super-pumped knowing that not only could we make him pass as a singer in the movie, but we would blow people away with what he could do."

He added, "[ Tom 's] confidence kept growing as we worked together. I think he started off a little nervous, as anybody would who has never done this, but he just bought it 110%. He works harder than anybody I've ever met in my life. By the end of this movie, the guy was just phenomenal. I remember telling him, 'You're a singer!'"

"Rock Of Ages" also stars Alec Baldwin , Russell Brand , Catherine Zeta-Jones , Paul Giamatti , Malin Akerman and many others. It scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 15.

Ireland is thoroughly in the thrall of The Boss, with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band halfway through their four-date Irish tour. They played at Boucher Road in Belfast on Thursday, May 9th, and Nowlan Park in Kilkenny on Sunday, May 12th. Next up is Cork’s Park Uí Chaoimh on May 16th, before the grand finale at Dublin’s Croke Park on May 19th. With over a week to explore, you never know where he’ll turn up or who he’ll visit – he dropped in on the late Shane MacGowan and Charlie Bird on his last visit. But where has he been spotted so far?

The Boss called into Leo Burdock’s flagship fish and chips shop in Christchurch on Friday, one of his regular haunts while in the country. The classic Dublin takeaway has also hosted the likes of U2 and Tom Cruise, previously referring to Springsteen as a regular.

Springsteen shared a heartwarming moment with a young fan at his Belfast gig on Thursday night.

The Boss walked down to the crowd mid-show during the song Hungry Heart, and gifted Farrah Lavery from Aghagallon, Co Antrim, who was at her first concert, one of his guitar picks, before embracing her in a hug, which her father joined.

The girl was one of about 40,000 attendees at the concert with her parents and brother, and was sitting on her father’s shoulders when Springsteen approached her with the gift.

Farrah wore an “I Heart Bruce” T-shirt and had a sign requesting Sherry Darling, which as her mother Michelle Lavery said, “only real fans would know”.

“We play that song every single day on the way to school and we get ready for the day ahead and it keeps us in a good mood,” Lavery said. Springsteen has accompanied the mother of two throughout her life, in good times and in bad, she said.

But when her daughter told her she was going to make a sign to request the song, she did not expect Bruce to see it.

“He [Bruce] was a few songs in, he was in good form, but he made a beeline just over the stage to our side,” Lavery said. “He stopped a bit in front of us and then he kept looking at her and singing to her, and then he made his way over to her with his hands held out”.

“He talked to her, rather than singing to her, and she was singing back, and he said, ‘Can I have a hug?’”

The family came home with not only Springsteen’s guitar pick, but the setlist from the night too, and are now headed to Kilkenny to see The Boss in Nowlan Park on Sunday.

[  Bruce Springsteen in Belfast: Fans give their verdicts - ‘I would follow Bruce around the world if I could’ The Boss has kicked off his four-date Irish tour in style and the fans have spoken  ]

“Springsteen has been such a major part of her life, and I’m so glad for her, she’s so lucky, it’s just brilliant,” Lavery said. “How could her mother not be proud?”

“I’m so glad I made the decision to take her,” she said, “it turned out to be probably the greatest experience certainly of her life, but of mine too. I’m so proud to be able to look at something that meant so much to me and share it with my children.”

Earlier in the week, eagle-eyed fan Stephen Coulter had a not-so chance meeting with The Boss outside the Culloden hotel, where the performer is staying. He spoke to The Irish Times while he queued for Springsteen’s Boucher Road concert on Thursday night.

“I knew there’d be a private jet coming from Cardiff into Belfast so I just kept an eye on flight tracker and normally when he plays Belfast he always stays in the Culloden so I just kept an eye on the flight and took my chance there,” Coulter said.

[  Bruce Springsteen in Belfast: can I still buy tickets, how to get to Boucher Fields, set lists, weather forecast and more  ]

“There was a member of the entourage there – he’s obviously there to make sure everybody was ready for him coming – so he just told me to stand just in a certain spot, told me not to move, then the cavalcade [arrived].”

“Bruce was the first one off the bus and more or less came straight walking up and I’d a Born to Run album and asked him would he sign it, he signed it and I got an emotional selfie with him, should we say,” Coulter laughed.

“It happened so quick – it’s over and done with in minutes so you’ve a load of questions you’re going to ask but you get the essentials done, the photograph and the autograph.”

It was 55-year-old Coulter’s first time meeting Springsteen, having first seen him in concert in 1985 in Slane when he was 16, “so I’ve been following him for a while”, he said.

“The album’s already away to get framed, I haven’t got it back yet but hopefully it’ll be worth looking at; it’ll get pride of place somewhere in the house.”

The Culloden Estate and Spa is a five-star resort hotel in the leafy Holywood suburb of Belfast. The hotel overlooks Belfast Lough and the Co Antrim coastline, with 12 acres of secluded gardens and woodland – offering The Boss some privacy.
