MoU signed for project enhancing Eagle Beach Strip
- January 23, 2023
This week, minister of Tourism and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber made an important announcement regarding the enhancement of our product Aruba. This time, it is the project to improve the strip of Eagle Beach from the roundabout at Amsterdam Manor to the roundabout of Alhambra.
This project will be financed by the Tourism Product Enhancement Fund (TPEF) and Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA).
According to a press release, this is a beautiful project where the public and private sector will be working together. The public sector will make investments and the private sector is committing to carry out the necessary maintenance in the years ahead of us.
Monday night during a ceremony, minister Oduber together with all General Managers of the properties on the strip where the enhancement will take place, as well as the president of the board of TPEF, Mr. Mario Arends, signed a MoU where all parties are committed to each other.
This project will be realized in two phases. The first phase will begin in the upcoming days. In total, the public sector is investing a significant amount in this project while the private sector will invest in maintenance of the project. According to the press release this is a new model chosen by the ministry of Tourism in order to allow the private sector to also actively participate in the maintenance of different projects. This makes the project unique and a good model for the future. It is proof that by cooperating and working together more can be achieved.
This way we can guarantee that the project will be sustainable and will elevate the product Aruba.
The project will see the enhancement of the entire strip of Eagle Beach, where the landscape will be uniformed with flora and white stones in order for it to be better organized and structured. The idea is for the entire strip to look the same, creating a better feeling for our visitors. More trash bins will also be installed on the strip in order to improve waste management in the area.
Finally, minister Oduber thanked the board of TPEF, ATA and all the General Managers of the properties for their collaboration in the project.
One Response
Tourists would love to have more palapas available, both extra large and regular sized, up & down the beach. There are never enough. People actually get up at 4 am to go and get a palapa for the day. Not fun when you’re supposed to be on vacation.

Malmok Boardwalk enters phase 3 in 2022
The Minister of Tourism and Public Health has announced that the Malmok Boardwalk project will continue with phase 3.
The Malmok Boardwalk is a new boardwalk that runs along most of the Malmok beach strip and is used by many for leisure and sports. In addition to embellishing the area, it provides security to its users. According to the plans of the Ministry, ATA, Tourism Product Enhancement Fund TPEF, DOW, and the DIP, phase 3 will be starting at the beginning of 2022.
Phase 3 consists primarily of the embellishment of the entire project. It includes palm trees, colorful flowering plants, and more parking areas that will blend in with the natural aspects of the project. The Malmok Boardwalk was planned according to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
By 2022, there are many other projects planned to enhance our island, as tourism remains the main driver for our economy.

Fundashon stimami sterilisami celebrates 30.000 sterilizations.
Between 2016 and 2022, Fundashon Stimami Sterilisami subsidized 30,000 sterilizations of cats and dogs with its national spay and neuter program.
Aruba has a massive stray animal overpopulation problem at just 20 miles long and six miles wide. With the aim to mitigate the suffering of these abandoned pets, Stimami Sterilisami continues to tackle the root cause through affordable and accessible sterilizations, which is proven to be the most effective and compassionate way to curb the overpopulation in Aruba.
Fundashon Stimami Sterilisami thanks Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, Aruba Tourism Authority, the Tourism Product Enhancement Fund, One Love Foundation, Aruba Bank, Setar N.V., Ewald Biemans, guests of Bucuti & Tara, and local residents, for their generous contributions and continuing support. A special thank you also goes out to the veterinarians of the Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH), who provided Fundashon Stimami Sterilisami with a special discount. Now, with the subsidy offered by Stimami Sterilisami and the discount provided by VSH, the fees for sterilization are between 50% to 66% less than the fees that the general public and foundations paid in 2021.
Here is more good news on sterilizations
Stimami Sterilisami is currently assisting VSH with the procurement of much-needed medical supplies. At the same time, the vet clinic is also working on expanding its workforce to be able to handle more daily operations.
“Although 30,000 sterilizations is an incredible achievement, we still see so many abandoned dogs and cats each day. That is why we will do everything we can to sterilize as many pets as possible, while we also encourage pet owners to be responsible and local law enforcement to take action,” Ewald Biemans, President of Stimami Sterilisami, explains. “We are incredibly grateful to every institution and person who has contributed to our cause. We encourage everyone to register via our website and sterilize their pet as soon as possible.”
Fundashon Stimami Sterilisami is a non-profit organization that uses 100% of each donation received to cover the costs of sterilization for the general public and volunteer organizations. Our books are audited and open to the public. For those who would like to donate to this significant cause, you can contribute directly to Fundashon Stimami Sterilisami via bank transfer:
