About Touratech

Touratech has been manufacturing high-quality motorcycle accessories for more than 30 years. Demanding motorcycle travelers from all over the world appreciate the quality of the indestructible parts. Around 350 motorcycle enthusiasts work at the Niedereschach headquarters to ensure that new ideas are always turned into the best products for fantastic motorcycle experiences.

History & Roots

The Touratech story starts with two inventors. At first, motorcycle globetrotters Herbert Schwarz and Jochen Schanz began developing motorcycle equipment for their own use only. The hobby quickly became a profession - and a little later a company. Touratech was founded in 1990. The high-quality products developed on the basis of intensive practical experience hit the nerve of the fast-growing motorcycle travel scene in the early 1990s.

Employees with travel experience

Then as now, Touratech products are manufactured in Niedereschach. However, over the past three decades the two-man operation has become an international company. Around 350 colleagues are now working to develop the best motorcycle accessories. They are all highly qualified specialists in their field, but one thing the Touratech family has in common to this day: their enthusiasm for motorcycle travel. Almost every employee is passionate about riding a motorcycle in their free time. Out on the tracks, new ideas for even better products are always emerging. State of the art technologies

In addition to the high qualification of its employees, Touratech relies on the latest technologies. For example, while the comfort seats are manufactured in the traditional saddlery manner, the most modern production centers and robots ensure precision and efficiency in sheet metal and tube constructions. This unique synthesis of craftsmanship and highly automated high-tech production allows Touratech to manufacture the majority of all components at its headquarters in Niedereschach and thus to keep the quality promise “Made in Germany” in the future. Tailored portfolio for adventure bikers In line with the motto “Made for Adventure”, the Touratech portfolio is consistently geared towards equipping adventure bikes and the corresponding rider equipment. Protectors, luggage systems with aluminum panniers and textile bags, seats, windshields, high-quality suspension components and many other products are available for the individual upgrading of Adventure Bikes. And in the field of rider equipment, Touratech has also developed its own range of high-quality products tailored to the needs of motorcycle travelers, from helmets to boots and gloves to the Compañero family's textile suits.

OEM manufacturing

For many years now, numerous motorcycle manufacturers such as BMW, Ducati and KTM have come to appreciate Touratech's incomparable expertise. You have parts such as pannier racks, aluminum panniers or crash bars manufactured in Niedereschach. Buyers of original accessories from these premium brands also benefit from the legendary Touratech quality.

The Touratech world

But Touratech has always been much more than just a manufacturer of motorcycle accessories and rider equipment. The company has been part of the international motorcycle travel community since it was founded in 1990. Not only is Touratech always close to the trends of the scene thanks to the countless trips by its employees - Touratech also always gives its own input. Every year, the travel event at the company's headquarters in Niedereschach is one of the largest motorcycle travel meetings in the world. And with the Adventure Country Tracks (ACT) and the Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) Touratech has created a concept that enables motorcycle travelers to experience motorcycle adventures in numerous European countries as well as in the USA on their own.

Worldwide network and shops

In addition to mail order, Touratech relies on individual customer advice on site. Touratech has nine sales outlets in Germany and a global network of distributors. The shops around the world not only stand for first-class accessories and professional customer service. Thanks to their committed owners, they are bases for the global motorcycle travel scene, where travelers are always welcome and served with advice and action.

Touratech as part of the Happich Group

Touratech has been part of the Happich Group since 2018. The management around owner Marc Pelzer and CEO Alberto Reinhart shares the workforce's intense passion for motorcycles and is leading the long-established company into the fourth decade under the umbrella of a global company.

The Touratech Rally began 14 years ago as a small customer-appreciation weekend that involved riding, camping and sharing good times around the campfire. With this simple formula, and a whole lot of fun, it’s grown into the largest gathering of Adventure Motorcycle enthusiasts in the country. The 2024 Rally will begin on Thursday, June 27 at Noon and ends at 1PM on Sunday, June 30.

While the core of the event has stayed the same, each year we find new ways to pack in even more fun activities & experiences:

• Enjoy  rides where you will explore twisty mountain dirt roads with breathtaking vistas in the heart of the Cascade Mountains. We’ll offer at least eight different route options on Friday and Saturday. The routes are designed to have something for everyone.

•Factory DEMO Rides are available! in 2023 KTM, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati and BMW all had demos onsite!

• Learn tips and tricks from adventure experts during onsite clinics and classes or take inspiration from presentations by fascinating motorcycle travelers.

• Improve your off-road skills with a rider-training course taught by world-class instructors. Four different riding schools will be offering on-site training classes for an extra fee.

• Test-ride the latest models of adventure motorcycles from factory demo trucks.

• Meet moto-venders with goods and services geared towards you and win raffle prizes from Touratech and other companies.

• Enjoy evening campfires and hang out with Touratech staff and friends on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

• Show off your mad bike-handling skills and take home the coveted trophy in our annual Slow Race or ADV Challenge competitions. The most fun might just be spectating the competition with friends.

• Park your bike and pitch a tent in the grassy camping area onsite, or reserve space in the RV lot, rent a nearby cabin with friends, or  book a room in Leavenworth.

• Most people ride to the event, but there is no shame in hauling out the toys on a trailer, you’ll just have to park it in the RV lot. Well, perhaps there is a little shame.

• We won’t feed you, but the on-site food trucks and restaurant across the street will… and their food is delicious. You can also grab cold beverages, ice, and basic provisions at the grocery or hardware store located right there.

• You can gas up your motorcycle just a stone’s throw from the event. Plan to do it before 8 pm when they close so you are ready to ride the routes in the morning.

What Is VR Tourism and What Are Its Benefits?

You can use VR to visit far-away places virtually and help improve your actual experience when you get there. Here's how.

Virtual Reality (VR) allows users to experience simulated environments as if they're in the real world. With VR, you could experience far-off destinations' sights, sounds, and sensations without ever getting on a plane.

VR tourism has been gaining popularity in recent years, offering tourists an immersive and accessible way to explore the world. But is it worth doing?

Let's explore the world of VR tourism, what it is, and whether it's a worthwhile experience for avid travelers.

How VR Is Revolutionizing the Tourism Industry

VR devices are commonly associated with gaming, but they have a range of other applications. One of them is in the travel industry, which now allows people to explore the world virtually from their living rooms. It offers travelers an immersive and interactive experience of traveling to any part of the world.

Travelers around the world are taking a keen interest in virtual tourism. According to an estimate by Market Data Forecast , the Global Virtual Tourism Market is expected to reach approximately $847.95 billion by 2028. Meanwhile, the market's valuation for the year 2022 was around $385.75 billion.

VR technology creates a virtual environment that simulates actual tourist spots worldwide. You can experience them through VR headsets or glasses and enjoy these far-off destinations virtually. But it is only one instance of the use of VR in the tourism sector—there are many other uses of this tech in the industry.

For instance, VR can help tourists virtually explore a place before planning a trip. It would allow them to get familiar with the location's culture, know which things they should try, give them a better sense of what to expect, and increase their confidence in their choice. It can also be handy for marketing in the tourism sector and help travel guides attract more visitors.

Furthermore, VR technology offers an immersive experience for travelers unable to travel due to physical disabilities, health issues, or financial constraints. It can also help preserve natural and cultural heritage sites by reducing the number of physical visitors.

Moving forward, let's now focus on the different benefits of VR in tourism.

Create Virtual Travel Experiences

One of the main benefits of VR in tourism is the possibility of virtual travel experiences. You can experience a range of tourist spots, including religious sites, historic sites, and even places that still need to be fully developed for tourists. A range of VR technologies like VR headsets and glasses, 360-degree cameras, special video editing tools, and others allow you to enjoy these attractive sites without being in person.

Virtual traveling can eliminate many limitations for travelers, like budget constraints, physical limitations, or time constraints. You only need to invest in VR technologies, and you can avail immersive travel experiences of any destination worldwide.

With VR travel, you can get teleported anywhere you like and enjoy VR city tours with your friends and loved ones. And because you're not going through the trouble of transit, you don't need group planning apps that help make planning trips with friends and family easier.

However, virtual travel experiences are still uncommon as many people yearn for the authenticity of actual travel. The idea of virtual tourism, where you don't even have to pack your bags, can be puzzling to some. But if you want to try virtual travel, you should check out these free virtual travel experiences .

Use VR for Self-Guided Tours

VR technology and augmented reality (AR) devices can work as your personal tour guide. Although VR and AR are different technologies , they can work together to improve your tour. This especially benefits those who prefer solo travel or desire more privacy. VR tourism apps provide self-guided tours, allowing travelers to explore at their own pace.

VR travel apps for exploring , like the City Guide Tour , can provide you with information about destinations through object recognition features. For instance, if you are traveling in an unknown city, it might pinpoint tourist spots like museums, parks, and galleries and offer on-screen information related to them.

Additionally, translation apps let you talk to anyone, even in places where communication is a challenge. You can download languages to your phone, translating conversations in real time, even without a data connection. Therefore, you can communicate easily at markets, airports, or hotels.

Book Your Destination Using VR

The travel industry is getting even more exciting with the introduction of VR booking systems that provide users with an immersive environment for planning trips. These systems help you to plan your vacation in a better way. You can select your destination, hotel rooms, or plane seats through these AR and VR booking interfaces and even make payments.

Although yet to be widely used by travel agencies, several companies have introduced these services. Amadeus' VR travel search and booking experience is one excellent example that allows travelers to plan their entire trip virtually.

VRBookings.com is another example that offers vacation rental software to travel companies. This emerging trend could revolutionize the VR tourism industry by making the booking system more user-friendly and efficient.

Travelers could save time and money by using VR for booking and payment. At the same time, travel companies could reduce overhead costs and provide more personalized services to their customers. As this technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative applications of AR and VR in the travel industry.

Take a Virtual Tour Before Booking Your Hotel

VR is not limited to the tourism industry but also offers unique features for the hospitality industry. You can take virtual hotel tours before deciding on whether to book. This lets you know what a hotel offers, its environment, recreational activities, and the overall experience. It lets you book a hotel according to your preferences and enjoy a personalized experience.

VR hotel room previews allow hotels to be more transparent about their services and attract more visitors, promoting their services worldwide. Many hotels, like Atlantis Dubai, highlight their lavish features through 360-degree video virtual tours. This innovative approach helps hotels stand out and ensures customers make informed decisions before booking, leading to a more enjoyable and memorable stay.

A Look Ahead at the Tourism Sector and VR

The global virtual tourism market is rapidly expanding thanks to the inventive use of virtual and augmented reality technology. Although VR tourism trips may feel strange to some, Virtual Reality can surely enhance your travel experiences.

VR tech can revolutionize the tourism industry by transforming how travelers plan and experience their trips. In the future, it could be used for destination marketing, creating personalized travel experiences, and enhancing in-destination experiences through immersive tours and interactive exhibits.

This technology can also help tourism boards attract more visitors and encourage them to stay longer. Travel companies, too, can create customized travel itineraries and offer travelers more engaging and memorable experiences. As technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative applications of VR in the tourism industry.

tours n tech

It all started 20+ years ago by investors recognizing the need to meet with companies from different countries in Europe. The first tech tours were organized by volunteers – imagine 40 investors getting together on a bus and travelling for 3 days across Switzerland to meet companies. Some pitches took place on the bus.

This is how Tech Tour was born. Since then we have been supporting our community to build real, personal relationships, by creating a space that is highly selective and sector focused.

Biden Courts Wealthy Donors on West Coast Fund-Raising Trip

The trip was a second major swing through California for the Biden campaign, and attracted a host of wealthy tech executives.

President Biden began a fund-raising swing through California and Washington on Friday, courting an elite subset of donors in a string of campaign events hosted by wealthy backers.

Mr. Biden planned two campaign receptions on Friday outside San Francisco, the first at the Portola Valley home of Vinod Khosla, a billionaire Silicon Valley venture capitalist, followed immediately by a second in Palo Alto hosted by the former chief executive of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer.

Tickets to the fund-raiser hosted by Mr. Khosla were being offered for $6,600 to $100,000 each, according to reporting by Puck. A reporter from the White House press pool traveling with the president estimated that taken together, more than 100 people attended the two events.

Mr. Khosla has been a vocal supporter of Mr. Biden and has donated heavily to Democrats during the current election cycle. Mr. Biden is expected to make two more appearances in the Seattle area on Friday evening and on Saturday, with senior staff at Microsoft and Amazon among the hosts mentioned on invitations sent by the Biden campaign for the Saturday event.

The trip comes as the Biden campaign has sought to press its financial advantage over former President Donald J. Trump’s campaign, and recently announced a $14 million ad buy this month targeting Black and Latino voters in a number of battleground states.

Mr. Trump, facing a mounting cash disadvantage, has pursued wealthy donors more aggressively and made increasingly blunt overtures to them in recent weeks. At a gathering of oil executives hosted by the oil and gas magnate Harold Hamm last month, Mr. Trump encouraged them to donate $1 billion to his presidential campaign, while pledging to roll back environmental regulations on the oil industry.

Another dinner hosted by the billionaire John Paulson that also drew a number of billionaires netted the Trump campaign more than $50 million in April.

Despite meeting with donors who may be among the largest contributors to his campaign, Mr. Biden sought on Friday to emphasize his efforts to raise money from small donors.

At the event hosted by Ms. Mayer, Mr. Biden told attendees that of the 1.6 million people who had donated to his campaign, 97 percent had given less than $200.

He added that his campaign had opened 150 offices across various battleground states while Mr. Trump had “opened zero offices — and it’s not just because he’s on trial.”

The trip this weekend, in which Mr. Biden scheduled no public appearances, offered the latest chance to tap support in some of the wealthiest and most heavily Democratic parts of the West Coast. Mr. Biden made a similar trip to California in February with stops in Santa Monica and Mountain View, and events hosted by powerful figures in Hollywood including Haim Saban.

California has far outpaced other states in donations to the Biden campaign, with nearly $21 million coming from California donors alone through March, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.

Our Coverage of the 2024 Election

Presidential Race

President Biden and Donald Trump have agreed to two debates  on June 27 on CNN and Sept. 10 on ABC News, raising the likelihood of the earliest general-election debate  in modern history. Here’s how each of them might try to win the debates .

Trump’s search for a running mate is still in its early stages, but he is said to be leaning toward more experienced options  who can help the ticket without seizing his precious spotlight.

Biden commemorated the 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, meeting with plaintiffs and their families at the White House as he tries to shore up support among Black Americans , who helped deliver him the White House in 2020.

As Trump’s criminal trial winds down, a center-left group is trying to goad him into testifying through an ad . Trump instead is visiting Minnesota, where his campaign says it can broaden the electoral battlefield with a play for the state  that always disappoints Republicans.

A Remarkable Pivot:  Larry Hogan, the former two-term Republican governor of Maryland who won his party’s nomination for the state’s open Senate seat, said that he supports legislation to codify abortion rights  in federal law.

Gavin Newsom Accuses Trump:  The California governor, speaking at the Vatican, used sharp language to describe the former president’s  appeal to fossil fuel executives for campaign donations, calling it “open corruption.”

How Rich Candidates Burned Cash:  It is a time-honored tradition in U.S. politics: wealthy people burning through their fortunes  to ultimately lose an election.

Montana’s Senate Race:  Republicans are trying to paint Senator Jon Tester as a Washington sellout, while their own candidate, Tim Sheehy, faces scrutiny over his credibility and how he sustained a gunshot wound. It all comes down to the question of trust.
