Our editors' favourite travel gift ideas
By Lauren Burvill
If you're set to give a gift to someone who loves travel or is planning a big trip, then consider this your cue to forgo a generic voucher gift and give something with a practical or travel-inspired twist. From must-haves for plane travel to inspiring books and time-saving gadgets, the following are our top picks of the best travel gifts to give in 2024.
The gift of stress-free travel
For all the joy a holiday can bring, the actual travel element can be rife with stress, from lost luggage to misplaced passports and navigating busy airports. As frequent flyers ourselves, our editors have navigated a multitude of bumps on our travels, and found that the below buys are great for making the journey a lot smoother.
For the loved one who’s a frequent flyer, Antler’s zippy hard shell Clifton cabin bag is a winner. The durable yet lightweight polycarbonate case features a twist-grip handle, making it very easy to wheel it around the airport at speed. A favourite of our editors, this case is both a great size and quality, and also looks smart, with seven subdued shades to choose from.
Aspinal of London’s travel collection makes for a classic gift to give any travel lover. Including a passport holder, luggage tags and travel wallet, the collection is made from full-grain leather and comes in six elegant shades and finishes. The brand also offers a personalisation option, so you can add the recipient's initials for a special personalised touch.
Anya Hindmarch’s in-flight travel bag is a game changer when it comes to staying organised on the go. Designed with air travel in mind, the carry-on bag has an array of clever features including a sleeve designed to sit over the bag of a luggage trolley and a clear removable pouch to store liquids. We also love the numerous internal and external organisational pockets, each with its own embossed label covering all of the travel essentials like ‘passport’ ‘keys’ ‘glasses,’ ‘headphones’ and ‘water.’
Since its release in 2021, Apple’s Bluetooth AirTag has become a must-have for frequent travellers or anyone prone to misplacing their keys. Simply attach the small button-shaped AirTag to your suitcase and connect to your iPad or iPhone via Bluetooth. Once connected you can find your item via the built-in speaker when it’s nearby or via the Precision Finding function on the app when it’s further away.
Finished, naturally, in beautifully soft Nappa leather, Mulberry’s passport cover has a soft grain effect and comes in a selection of chic colours to match your handbag. There are three slip pockets inside for all your docs along with four card slots. A must-have companion for keeping all your important travel documents together safely.
There's nothing like a dead battery to slow down a trip. Keep all your accessories charged up with a power bank. Anker is our favourite – it weighs just over 300 grams (or as little as a can as soup) but can charge an iPhone 8 almost seven times, the Galaxy S8 five times, or the iPad mini 4 twice.
A travel wash bag is key to staying organised — and avoiding spills in your luggage. We like this option from Away for its water-resistant materials and ample space for your toothbrush and toothpaste, razor, soaps, and more. A hanging bag also allows you to keep items tidy and off the bathroom counter.
For international travel, a power adapter is a must to make sure you can get devices charged up in the airport and your hotel room. Apple's World Travel Adapter Kit comes with seven AC plugs with prongs that fit into different electrical outlets around the world, and each one is labelled with the regions they are compatible with.
This is a fun idea for the friend who likes to be organised. Papier’s travel journals have pages for planning and memorialising six special trips, with space for noting down budgets, itineraries, packing lists and other important details. Long flight? There are travel games at the back, along with pages for journalling and scrapbooking.
The gift of sleeping on a plane
Standing down the hours of a long haul flight is made all the more easier with a gift that doubles as a travel hack. When it comes to feeling comfortable and getting some shut eye, the littlest luxuries can make a huge difference.
Trtl has revamped its clever wrap-style neck pillow to accommodate people of all heights more comfortably. The latest iteration is adjustable, to better suit your particular requirements, and the pillow section itself has been given a high-density foam makeover. Trtl’s offering is a lot smaller than standard U-shaped pillows, and weighs a petite 225 grams, so it won’t take up precious space in your hand luggage – or you could use the included clip to attach it to your rucksack .
Neal's Yard products make a lovely treat, whether you're travelling or not. This mini travel kit comprises all the skincare routine you'll need – bar SPF – for a 10 to 14 day trip, in a hand luggage-friendly size. This particular set is from the brand's Rose range, which uses highly fragrant roses grown and distilled in Bulgaria, farming co-operatives in Turkey and at high altitude on Mount Lebanon. Something globetrotters will surely appreciate.
When it comes to what to wear on a long flight , an oversized hoodie is hard to beat. Team it with a pair of comfortable leggings or a matching jogger, add a cashmere blanket and get ready to drift off. For a hoodie that makes a great gift, we love this elevated organic cotton style, embroidered with the Vogue logo for the ultimate fashion stamp of approval.
Skip the in-flight blankets provided by airlines – not only are they wasteful but also made from scratchy polyester. A much more luxurious alternative is a cashmere blanket, which not only feels softer but has an insulation capacity that's three times higher than wool, ideal for maintaining body temperature during a long flight.
Elizabeth Scarlett’s signature delicate embroidered designs features here on a 100 per cent cotton eye mask, helping travellers claw back a few precious hours’ shuteye while en route. Cleverly, the mask is filled with a sweet lavender blend to maximise the relaxation in use – a real treat.
The gift of jet-set style
Airport style had a big moment in 2023, with travellers walking the line between classic style and total comfort, and a subtle nod to celebrity paparazzi photos. The outfit formula is all about a designer loungewear set in a muted shade, teamed with comfortable trainers, a cap, sunglasses and a hardshell suitcase in a classic neutral shade .
German designer luggage brand Rimowa has some of the slickest suitcases on the market, with their classic aluminium cases proving the envy of all frequent flyers.
Merch fans will love the latest collaboration between designer denim brand Frame and legendary hotel the Ritz Paris. This Cashmere knit, embroidered with the hotelier's iconic logo, is the epitome of jet-set chic.
For a designer luggage tag that doesn't take itself too seriously, this cheerful lobster tag is part of a collaboration between cult cool-brand Loewe and the irreverent Paula's Ibiza. It's made in Italy from 100% leather and embossed with the brand's signature Anagram logo. It also comes with a dustbag, to keep him safe when not on his travels
Gucci has elevated the humble souvenir sticker with their ultra-stylish set of retro-logo luggage stickers. Perfect for personalising a suitcase, or adding to any travel accessory – travel wallet or luggage tag – these stickers are a playful way to add personality to any journey.
A secret beauty weapon for well-heeled travellers, this thick, creamy and super-hydrating mask is the key to caring for skin while in-transit. The mask features chestnut extract exfoliates to take away dullness, allowing for deeper penetration of Vitamin C to brighten. Green tea soothes and calms redness, and niacinamide reduces pores and fine lines. You can wear it throughout a flight, overnight or as a 10-minute mask.
This portable all-in-one dressing table by Beautifect is a game changer for regular travellers – it might even replace your makeup bag at home. The easy-to-carry box features a table, adjustable mirror, and storage, as well as an impressive lighting system that offers five different environments including true daylight. We also love that the box is powered by a standard USB-C and can last up to a month on just one single charge.
The gift of avoiding baggage fees
Packing hacks were a big talking point this year, with the below buys ranking top of our list when it came to travelling carry on luggage only.
It might be called an overnight bag, but if you pack strategically Antler's Chelsea bag can easily work as a weekender bag. This is a worthy investment for frequent flyers – in addition to numerous internal and external pockets and compartments, including a laptop sleeve and a water bottle pouch, it also has an over-handle sleeve, making it an ideal option to take on a long-haul flight . The bag is made in a durable water-resistant nylon and comes in nine different colour options, which of course match their Chelsea suitcase range .
For a do-it-all tote bag, it’s easy to see why this style from July is a best seller. Firstly the size – the large tote has room for 22 litres, plenty of space for packing a whole weekend’s worth of items. Then there are the organisation options – a dedicated laptop sleeve, a drink bottle holder, a pocket for a phone and wallet, as well as a zip-up pocket ideal for storing a passport. There are two external pockets, one that’s hidden and secured with a magnet, as well as a sleeve to slip over a luggage handle, so it can easily sit safely on top of a suitcase.
Australian luggage brand July has developed the world’s lightest carry-on suitcase. Weighing in at a dainty 1.8kg, the July Carry On Light, £195, offers a 32L capacity, aerospace-grade polycarbonate shell, specially-designed noise-reducing wheels, and a lifetime guarantee. The case is available in nine colours and also offers a personalisation service as well.
Packing cubes are a game-changer for hand luggage aficionados, helping you squeeze more into your case in a way that’s pleasingly effective. This set of four gives you space to separate your clothes, underwear, electronics and toiletries, while the mesh windows ensure you can see what you need to grab at-a-glance.
Even travellers with a library full of books at home have to admit it: E-readers are an essential travel accessory for bookworms . They are so much lighter than even one paperback book, and let you bring as many options as you want along for the ride.
The gift of armchair travel
Our pick of the best transportive gifts that bring the essence of travel to your home.
Loewe's collaboration with Paula's Ibiza perfectly captures summer in Ibiza in a rainbow ombre bottle. The woody-meets-floral fragrance combines notes of citrusy orange flower, jasmine sambac, incense essential oil and frankincense, creating an evocative bohemian scent that any sun-worshipper will love.
Transport your gift recipient to the fragrant fields of Southern India via Diptyque's delicately scented tuberose candle. Inspired by visits to Indochina in the 1930s, the heady yet fresh and green scent is available in a dreamy oceanic blue jar as part of the limited edition Don Son collection , which draws upon the childhood memories of Yves Coueslant, one of the Maison's founders.
Cult favourite London restaurant BAO released its first recipe book earlier this year, offering up the secrets to 100 of its most beloved Taiwanese-inspired dishes. Keen cooks can now recreate their famous steamed buns at home, as well as Taiwanese fried chicken, beef noodles, snack-size xiao chi, and more.
Assouline’s much sought-after coffee table books make for the ultimate wanderlust-meets-decor gift. On the outside these beautiful hardcover travel books add a fun splash of colour to any room, while inside they feature dreamy imagery and inspiring stories from some of the world’s most beloved destinations.
The gift of adventure
Practical gift ideas for those who prefer a hike over a sun lounger.
With an impressive 42L capacity, this Stubble & Co carry-on travel backpack is ideal for hands-free travel on trips that last three-to-five days. It's packed with clever features, including a 16" laptop sleeve, a clamshell opening for easy packing, a hidden valuables compartment, and a reflective rain cover to ensure you stay visible and your gear stays dry in wet weather. Compression straps keep everything as compact as possible, and there's a passthrough band to attach it to your case as well.
When we asked Victoria Beckham , earlier this year, about her most beloved travel item, she name dropped Yeti. The popular American drinkwear brand is the ultimate go-to for any adventure traveller, especially for camping or hiking trips. Their classic Rambler bottle is a winner when it comes to travel; made from stainless steel and vacuum insulated, so your water will stay cold for hours.
Okay, yes – it’s a gift card. But no gift guide is complete without one option and, as far as stereotypical vouchers-as-presents go, this is a pretty good one to receive. With a feast of stunning properties available to book across the globe, from London to New York and beyond, the keys to a new Airbnb makes an ideal gift for a globetrotting loved one ready to tick off the next trip on their list.
The gift of distraction
For the little travellers in your life, these clever buys will help to ensure an easier journey. For more ideas, see our pick of the best travel toys .
It’s rare to take a trip to the airport without spotting at least one of Trunki’s cheery suitcases in the waiting room. The designs are practical and fun, with a roomy 18 litre storage capacity for toys, clothes and games. As a bonus, the cases have a saddle seat and tow strap, allowing for easy tot transportation from check-in desk to gate.
This made-for-kids tablet could be the key to a peaceful flight, car journey, ferry ride and more. It comes with 1 year of Amazon Kids+ content so your little one can watch all the Peppa Pig they want, and has a sturdy kid-proof case (available in three different coloured) to protect it against the inevitable drops and bumps.
The mini size of the popular Yoto audio player is perfect for travelling. Compact and easy-to-use for kids aged 3+, the collectable cards which play stories and interactive games are also easy to pack. It also doubles as a speaker and alarm clock and the extended battery life means it's a great companion for long journeys.
If the goal is to get maximum entertainment from just one toy, then busy boards are a miraculous invention for children from a few months to a few years old. The ARVRI Sensory Busy Board offers 15 different activities in a book-style carrying case that’s just a tiny bit larger than an A4 sheet of paper.

The best gifts for travellers that are sure to take flight
By Jessie Atkinson , Daphne Bugler and Thomas Barrie
From luxury luggage to toiletries, here are the best gifts for travellers who are always on the move.
Whether they’re always away on business, they have family abroad or half of their heart is in Havana, finding a gift for travellers often boils down to the same thing: what would make their lives easier or more exciting while on the road? It’s a question we’ve considered closely when compiling the following list of items that we think would delight any frequent flyer come their birthday or Valentine's Day.

Arket Duffle Bag
While the 72-hour in this product's name is more of a guideline than a hard upper limit, we agree that Arket’s duffle bag is best utilised for a long weekend away. Compact and hardy in nylon, it features several pockets for items including a laptop, passport, paperback and charger – as well as for whatever outfit you plan to wear around Milan/Copenhagen/Porto/Vienna (take your pick). £159. arket.com
Gymshark Joggers
Swim shorts , SPF and sandals aside, a pair of joggers may well be the most popular travel companion. Why? Well, first of all, there’s the plane journey. But there’s also those long, slow hours between pool and dinner time, when being comfortable in the hotel room is of utmost importance. We like Gymshark's for comfort and affordability. £36. gymshark.com

At awaytravel.com and amazon.co.uk

Liberty Lee Manor compact umbrella
You can never have too many umbrellas, not least Liberty print umbrellas which are ideal to throw into a suitcase or an overcoat pocket when the weather forecast for a city break is patchy. 111Skin De-Puffing Face Mask
There’s nothing quite as drying on your skin as aeroplane air. Thankfully, that also means that there’s little as satisfying as the moisturising you do as you prepare to land. What better time to use something suitably OTT than then? 111Skin’s hydrogel mask more than deserves a look-in. £20. At selfridges.com
Theragun Mini Massage Gun
Muscle soreness doesn’t dissipate just because they’re out of office, especially if they’re the type to frequent the hotel gym. For such an overachiever, we recommend a massage gun : in this miniature edition, Theragun presents a solution to lactic acid build-up and aeroplane neck that fits in their hand luggage. £194.99. amazon.co.uk
Coco & Eve Tan Boosting Oil
Tan-boosting and anti-ageing is a big claim, one that we’re sure your sun-happy giftee would be more than willing to test out. That Coco & Eve’s body oil is also imbued with SPF makes this a beauty buy essential for hols. £28. uk.cocoandeve.com
Sea to Summit dry bag
For outdoorsy types, a dry bag can be worth its weight in gold. Bad luck for them, then, that Sea To Summit’s versatile storage bag is actually extremely lightweight, coming in at a mere 84 grams. The good news is that it won’t weigh down a sea kayak or a rucksack even as it keeps vulnerable gear bone-dry in the rain (though be warned: it’s not for submersion!). £19. seatosummit.co.uk
Ostrichpillow Go Neck pillow
There are travel pillows and then there are Ostrichpillows. The former, either inflatable or filled with beans, tends to be picked up as an afterthought at the airport. Opt for an Ostrichpillow, however, and you’ve all the makings of some comfortable slumber, whatever your altitude, thanks to its memory foam and 360-degree design which offers complete neck support. The material also compresses to 60 per cent of its size so is easily stored in a travel bag when not in use. It sure takes some of the blow away from long-haul travel in economy, and you can't put a price on that. £69. ostrichpillow.com
Eurostar voucher
It’s a voucher to be redeemed on the Eurostar. Simple. Effective. You’re welcome. Up to £500. vouchers.eurostar.com
Nintendo Switch Lite
If you head over to our strictly tech-focused gift guide you’ll find us getting excited about the brand-new OLED Nintendo Switch. But while that’s undoubtedly the best version of Nintendo’s brilliant console, it’s not the most travel-friendly. The Switch Lite plays all the same games as its bigger brother, but in a more portable package. You lose the detachable Joy-Con controllers that enable big-screen play on the TV, so this is a strictly handheld device. But it’s a more comfortable handheld for it, not to mention a good deal cheaper than the standard model. £213. At amazon.co.uk
Anker 737 Power Bank
In the last ten years, power banks have become increasingly essential travel accessories, ensuring you don’t end up navigating an unfamiliar city with a dead phone no matter how many podcasts or TV series you consume on the plane. This from Anker, can fully charge an iPhone 13 nearly five times before it needs recharging itself. £134.99. anker.com & amazon.co.uk
Assouline Travel Series
Inspiration for their next trip won’t be lacking when they open Assouline’s Travel Series on the 25th, as each book focuses on a different destination, whether it be the Athens Riviera, Dubai or Miami Beach. If this won’t send them immediately packing for their next adventure, nothing will. From £81. assouline.com
LinkOn Ganius 136W international charger
Even less seasoned travellers probably already have a drawer with a bunch of plug adaptors knocking around, but none of them will come close to this. Capable of providing an impressive 136W through its USB-C and dual USB-A ports at the same time, it’ll quickly juice up your tech without breaking a sweat. The fact that it can blast out 100W through the USB-C port alone is incredibly impressive, meaning it’s more than capable of charging fully-fledged laptops at breakneck speed. Despite this technical wizardry, it’s compact in size, and the interchangeable US, UK and EU adaptors mean that you can travel lighter too. £61. At amazon.co.uk
Apple has no doubt stolen away some prospective Tile customers with its AirTags, but the original Bluetooth tracker is still a great buy for iOS and Android users alike. Attached to your valuable of choice, the Tile Mate will make a sound when you ring it from your phone (a godsend for serial keys misplacers), but if an item is properly lost or stolen you can track its location via the app and have fellow Tile users contact you when found. Nobody should travel without one. £19.99. At amazon.co.uk

Gifts Made in Britain: Gift Ideas for Travel Lovers
Last updated: December 3, 2023 . Written by Laurence Norah - 2 Comments
We love travel themed gifts, and we’ve already written a comprehensive guide to gifts for travellers . Today, we wanted to highlight some gifts made in the UK for travellers.
Buying a gift made in Britain can help to support local business and jobs, as well as reduce the carbon footprint of your purchase if you’re in the UK already.
You’ll also find some uniquely British items that you might not be able to find elsewhere!
Without further ado, here’s our list of some great gifts for travellers which are made and sold in the UK. To be included on our list, the products all have to be made in the UK, by a UK based company.
30+ Gift Ideas for Travellers that are Made in Britain
Our list includes gifts for travellers made in the UK, and includes items made in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
In terms of price range, we include budget friendly items like water bottles for under £10 and jewellery and luggage tags for under £20. We also include more luxury items like handmade luggage and cashmere travel scarves, as well as lots of items in between. We’ve definitely tried to include some British made gifts for all budgets!
It’s also worth bearing in mind that whilst all the products in this list are physically manufactured or assembled in the UK, the raw materials for some products might come from overseas. Not all raw materials are produced in the UK, so this is largely unavoidable.
One thing to watch out for when looking for gifts made in the UK are products that are “designed in the UK”. This phrase can be used to mask the reality that the products are actually manufactured overseas.
For this list, we have only included items that are physically manufactured in the UK by UK based companies. Where possible, we’ve tried to be specific about exactly where in the UK it is being made.
If you’re looking for more gift idea for travellers, see our ultimate travel gift guide , our guide to gifts for photographers , our guide to tech gifts for travellers and our guide to travel inspired jewellery gifts .
Travel Globe Necklace
London based jeweller Raniska makes a range of beautiful and well priced jewellery items. We think these world map designs in particular would make the perfect gift for a travel lover.
Raniska also has a number of other made in England jewellery items available, including rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Lots of options to choose from!
We have a number of other UK made travel jewellery ideas in this guide. We also have a guide to general travel jewellery gifts from around the world if you’re looking for inspiration from other countries.
Scratch Off Travel Map
Like many travellers, we love keeping track of where our travels have taken us. One way we have found do to that is with a scratch off travel map .
Water Bottle
Staying hydrated, whether we are are travelling or not, is of course important to us. When we travel, we always take a water bottle with us so as to cut down on the waste generated by single use plastic water bottles.
As such, we think that most travellers will definitely appreciate the gift of a high quality re-usable bottle for drinks. There are many of these on the market, however finding a water bottle which is actually manufactured in the UK can be a challenge.
The best option we found is this Eco-Bottle which is actually made in the UK from 100% recycled food grade plastic and can be re-used indefinitely. All their raw materials are sourced in the UK making this the perfect eco-friendly gift. The bottle is dishwasher safe and BPA free. Just be aware that it doesn’t have any insulation properties for keeping drinks hot or cold.
If you aren’t travelling, you can still make your home smell like an exotic destination with scented candles. Scent is a powerful way to evoke a memory of a location or occasion, and we love to use candles around our home to bring back memories of past adventures.
There are a number of UK based candle manufacturers. Some to consider include:
- Bearded Candle Co – based out of Belfast Northern Ireland. We have one of their candles and its lovely
- Above the Flame Candles – this company creates a range of scented soy wax candles from their location in Inverness, Scotland
- Lasair Candles – these candles makers make their candles in Dromore, Northern Ireland
- Jo Malone candles – this London based candle company has a range of premium candles and scents available
Socks are one of those quintessential gifts. Since everyone needs them, including travellers, we think you might as well invest in those which are made in Britain.
Corgi Socks , which have been made in Wales since 1892, started out as a manufacturer of hard-wearing socks for miners. They have since expanded, and it is said that even the Queen buys her socks from Corgi.
Corgi have a range of socks available in different materials, so we are sure you’ll find the perfect gift. They also have a range of other gifts and knitwear available, including scarves, cushions, blankets, hats, and cardigans!
Push Pin Balloon House
We love this tiny push pin balloon house from Clive Roddy and keep ours on our desk, although it can also be mounted to a wall, noticeboard or push pin map . It’s a fun reminder of the opportunities of travel, which also happens to be a functional pin holder!
Bath based Clive also has a number of other lovely products, including interesting wooden rings and other art. Check out his range of other items on his store .
Luggage Tags
One thing that all travellers have is luggage of some kind. So a thoughtful gift of handmade personalised luggage tags is one you know your recipient is going to use!
There are a range of luggage tags made in the UK, such as the following:
- These handmade personalised wooden luggage tags from Kent based store Snobs Gifts look like miniature boarding passes.
- These personalised handmade luggage tags from Hertfordshire based store Parker&Co are wonderfully stylish
All the above luggage tags are manufactured in the UK by locally owned businesses.
Scents and Perfumes
If you’d like some perfumes or scents which are made in the UK, check out luxury brand Penhaligons . All their fragrances are made in Hampshire, England (although packaging is made in Europe).
Scents make an excellent gift, and they are also a great addition to any toiletry bag for a trip!
Travel Prints and Artwork
A great gift for a traveller is a product that perhaps reminds them of a previous trip, or gets them excited about an upcoming trip. A piece of art that can be hung on a wall makes for a lovely gift.
Northscape Prints designs and prints all their products in Bangor, Northern Ireland. They have a range of prints, from photos through to illustrations of popular travel destinations, particularly those in the UK and Ireland. If you’re looking for a gift made in Northern Ireland, this is an excellent choice!
Good eye protection is important, and we think all travellers would benefit from a good pair of sunglasses. The good news is that you can actually buy high quality sunglasses that have been designed and made in the UK, and they are even available at an affordable price point!
Oxford based manufacturer Sunwise has been producing well made yet affordable eye-wear in the UK since 1996, and they have a range of award-winning products to choose from.
Shaving Kit
Staying clean shaven is of course important to some travellers, so putting together a gift of made in the UK shaving products might be a great option. UK company King of Shaves makes their products in the UK, and you can see their products here .
A Tour of the UK with a UK based Tour Operator
Not all travel themed gifts have to be a physical product. The gift of an experience that will be treasured for a lifetime is definitely one to consider.
One of our favourite UK based tour company is Rabbie’s . Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, the company now offers tours all across the UK and Ireland, with departures from major cities all around the UK and Ireland. Tours are available for a range of durations, from half a day to multiple weeks. All the tours feature groups of no more than 16 in very comfortable vehicles, and you can also book private tours.
We think everyone will find a tour to love with Rabbie’s. They offer everything from whisky tasting tours to tours of regions like the Cotswolds , Lake District and Scottish Highlands .
We’ve taken multiple tours with Rabbie’s, both day trips and longer multi-day tours. You can read our experience of a 5 day Scottish Highlands tour here to get a feel for what to expect.
Trove Wallet
Everyone needs somewhere to keep their cash and cards, and travellers are no different. Trove manufactures a range of wallets , coin purses, cable clips, and more from premium materials in their factory in England.
There are a wide range of styles, materials and colours to choose from including Italian leather and a vegan friendly leather. If you order direct from Trove, you can also custom print a wallet for that personal touch.
Map Themed Gifts made in the UK
Many travellers, us included, love maps. So a great gift for a traveller might be something that includes a map.
UK company Atlas and I produce a range of map themed gifts, from dog beds through to personalised prints, stationary, wine coolers, bags, and jigsaw puzzles.
The majority of their products are available direct from their online store, but they also sell some discounted products on their Etsy page .
Travel Photography Course
Do you know a traveler who wants to improve their photography skills? Then an online photography course, local photo workshop, or photography book would make a perfect gift.
As I am from the UK, I wanted sneak in my own online travel photography course in our UK made gift guide!
The course covers all the basics of photography that is perfect for those at any skill level and then goes into more advanced photography concepts and techniques. It also covers photography editing and even tips on how to sell your photos.
With over 60 lessons across 10 weeks, optional homework assignments, lifetime access, interviews with several professional photographers, we think the course is pretty amazing value for money. You can also do it at your own pace as you have lifetime access to the content.
You have direct access to Laurence for help and feedback with the homework and any other questions you have about photography. There is also an exclusive Facebook group where you can post questions and receive feedback from the other members of the course, and take part in regular fun photo challenges.
You can purchase the course as a gift to give to someone. Customizable gift certificates are offered at no additional charge for gift purchases and these can be customized for the person and special occasions (e.g., Christmas, birthday, gap year, graduation, etc.).
You can learn more about it here and read testimonials from some of the over 2,000 people who have already joined the course.
Actual Maps
Trunki Children’s Luggage
If you’re looking for a travel themed gift for children, then check out the awesome Trunki range of suitcases . These ride-on suitcases are perfect for getting kids to enjoy some of the less exciting parts of travel, like going through an airport.
Trunki is a Bristol based firm who have been manufacturing their product in the UK since 2012. It’s designed to be easy for kids to use (and ride on!), and makes for an excellent gift for kids who love to travel!
Picnic Blanket
If you know someone who enjoys dining in the great outdoors, then you might want to grab them a beautiful British manufactured picnic blanket for their outdoor dining adventures.
Family-owned UK company Anorak produces a range of products, with their picnic blankets all made in the UK. They’ve been making their designs in the UK since 2009, and currently around 30% of all their products are produced in the UK. They aim to increase this over time.
Anorak also have a number of charity partnerships, and like us, they work with the World Land Trust to offset their carbon emissions.
Another company to consider for picnic blankets is the British Blanket Company . This UK based company creates handmade blankets of all types, including picnic blankets, which are woven at traditional mills across the British Isles.
Travel Journal
If you know a traveller who loves to keep a journal of their adventures, then you might want to buy them a travel journal as a gift.
With this in mind, check out the awesome products from The Pink Pig . This Yorkshire-based company makes a lovely range of notebooks, scrapbooks and sketchbooks, perfect for the travelling writer in your life!
If you are looking for a more premium travel journal made in the UK, then take a look at this beautiful leather-bound journal from Billy Tannery.

Billy Tannery also have a range of other lovely items which are made in England with a focus on sustainability and supporting local enterprise. These include some gorgeous bags as well as wallets and other accessories .
There are a number of other options when it comes to travel journals made in the UK. Check out Oakden Designs and the Stamford Notebook Co. for more options.
Writing Gifts made in Britain
If you’re thinking of purchasing a travel journal, then a great companion gift might be a traditional calligraphy set.

Walking / Hiking Sticks
If you know someone who loves to hike, or just needs a walking stick in general, then check out this awesome collection of sticks from Northern Irish company Blackthorn Billy.
These sticks are handmade from Irish blackthorn and would make the perfect handmade gift for anyone who likes to travel with a walking or hiking stick that has a little bit of character.
Cycle Helmets made in the UK
If you know a traveller who likes to cycle, then you might want to gift them a UK made cycle helmet.
UK company Dashel manufactures a range of lightweight and good-looking cycle helmets in the UK, and they’ll even recycle them when they’re no longer wanted. Their helmets are all designed, manufactured and recycled in the UK, at locations in Devon, Leicestershire and Northern Ireland.
The helmets are lightweight, good looking, and most importantly for a cycling helmet, safety certified. An excellent gift for the cyclist in your life.
English Heritage Membership
If you know someone who loves to visit England’s beautiful heritage sites, then you might consider the gift of an annual English Heritage Membership .
Membership, which can be purchased as a gift for individuals, couples, or families, will give your recipient access for a whole year to over 400 historic properties across England, as well as free parking at many English heritage car parks.
Membership also grants half price admission at a range of properties in Wales and Scotland, as well as free entry to a number of properties in Ireland, the Isle of Man and New Zealand.
Another option would be a National Trust membership , which offers access to National Trust properties across the UK. That can also be purchased as a gift here .
Luxury Wash Bags
A wash bag is a must-have travel accessory, and we think these luxury washbags from English manufacturer Padfield would make for an excellent gift.
Padfield makes all of their products in Somerset, England, using British made materials. Their entire product line is sourced and crafted locally, and proudly made in England. As well as washbags, they offer a range of other products, including card cases and laptop covers.
Baby Travel Sling
If you or someone you know is planning to travel with a young one, then a baby travel sling might come in handy!
Edinburgh based company Oscha Slings produces a wide range of baby wraps, carriers and slings. They are all made from fabrics woven in the British Isles and then handcrafted in their Scottish workshop.
The workshop is 100% solar powered and the company is carbon neutral and zero waste. So lots of positives here!
Cashmere Travel Wrap
A travel accessory that Jess never leaves home without is a travel wrap . These versatile garments are great for keeping her warm when travelling, and can be used as a shawl, a scarf or even a travel blanket.
One of our favourite travel wrap brands is The TravelWrap , who also happen to be based in the UK. Their beautiful 100% knitted cashmere wraps are made in Scotland, and can be monogrammed as well for a personalized gift. They also come wrapped in lovely boxes to make for a truly luxurious gift.
Water Purification System
If you know someone who loves to get outdoors, or who simply cares about their environmental footprint when traveling, then a LifeSaver makes a perfect gift. This British company makes a range of water purification products, and we think their Liberty Water Purification and Pump would make a great gift for a traveller.
The product is great for environments where safe drinking water isn’t readily available. This might be on a multi-day hike in the wilderness, or in a country where the tap water isn’t potable. The bottle is effective for removing over 99.99% of virus, bacteria and protozoa (cysts).
It also works as a pump, which means you can fill other containers using the pump and supplied hose. This means that multiple containers can be filled with clean water to meet the needs of the day or days.
You can read more about water purification in our guide to safe drinking water when travelling , and we also have a round-up of our favourite water filters for travel .
Ghillie Kettle
If you know someone who loves to camp, then a handcrafted UK made Ghillie Kettle might make the perfect gift.
These portable kettles are basically a stove and kettle in one. All you have to do is gather small pieces of wood and place them in the stove area, and this quickly and efficiently heats up the water.
It’s great for camping, and my family and I actually used a variant of these when on a six-week RV trip around Europe many years ago. I remember it being both easy and fun to use.
Finding electrical items that are manufactured in the UK is definitely a challenge! However, it’s still possible as UK brand Cello actually makes their TVs in the UK.
As a travel gift, you might consider one of their 12 volt travel TVs . These would be ideal TV for a van, caravan, or motorhome.
Decorative Steamer Trunks
Travel Trunks are so evocative of a different age of travel, when steam trains and romantic transatlantic crossings were the norm.
Whilst these trunks from the English Trunk Company are designed for use around the home as storage, we think any traveller would love to receive one of these as a gift to keep the travel spirit alive in their home.
The English Trunk Company was founded in 2014, and all their trunks are hand made in Cambridgeshire in the UK. The fabrics used are also British made, and sourced from mills throughout the UK.
Custom Coastline Rings
If you’re looking for a stunning and unique piece of jewellery which is designed and made in Scotland, check out these options from Edinburgh based jeweller Hannah Louise Lamb.
Hannah has many lovely pieces of jewellery to choose from, but we really love her coastline series of rings like this one . These rings, which are available in a range of materials and are suitable for both men and women, feature a design which traces out a favourite piece of coastline.
So if you know a travel lover who is passionate about a particular part of the world, or perhaps you have a partner with whom you share a special memory of a particular location, you can have a map ring made to remember it.
This is definitely a unique one-of-a-kind gift!
Travel Luggage
An essential item that every traveller needs is a piece of luggage. If you really want to treat someone in your life and have a larger budget, you might consider an item of Globe-Trotter luggage.
This iconic brand has been manufacturing its hard-wearing and fantastically stylish handcrafted luggage in Hertfordshire since 1932. Their cases are tough yet beautiful, and are made by artisans using methods and machinery that dates back to the Victorian era.
Globe-Trotter cases have been a favourite among royalty, and British Prime Minsters – and even the fictional James Bond was known to have a Globe Trotter case!
British Food and Drink Gifts
The UK is home to some iconic food and drink brands and products, many of which make for a wonderful gift.
To start with, Scotland’s iconic drink – whisky – has to be produced and matured in Scotland. There’s a huge range of Scotch whisky to choose from at a range of price points.
If you’re looking for a gift idea though, then a whisky set might is a good option. These often come with items like glasses, bags or hip flasks, as well as different whiskies to try.
There are a great many more delicious British foods and drinks to choose from. We recommend perusing English Heritage’s online shop for some ideas. They have everything from fruit wines to condiments , jams and biscuits .

Hello Laurence!
What a wonderful and timely list you have put together. I live in the USA but have many family members residing in the UK and would very much like to send them more local products that don’t have to be shipped across the Atlantic.
I am very keen on some of the jewelry, the scratch maps, and the Scottish cashmere wrap. Also candles – do you know if there are any candles made in the UK that offer both lavender and some tropical fruit scents?
Thanks, Naomi

Great to hear from you and thanks very much. That sounds like an excellent idea 🙂
For the candles, from the stores that we suggest, for your specific scents I’d suggest Lasair Candles . They currently offer both a “Luxury Lavender” scent and several fruit flavored ones (including Starfruit & Mango, Caribbean, and Lemon Lime Splash). You can even personalize the labels on the candles for a more personal touch 🙂 They have excellent reviews and their candles are all handmade in Northern Ireland

The 55 Best Gifts for Travel Lovers in 2024
Peruse these practical and thoughtful gift ideas for every traveler on your list.
Travel + Leisure / Kristin Kempa
Shopping for your travel-loving friends and family can be tricky — after all, you’ll want to ensure you’re picking up something practical, but you also don’t want to gift them something they already have. It’s also worth considering that frequent travelers, especially digital nomads, tend to live a more minimalist life. This means practical gear will reign supreme over more frivolous items.
You’ll also want to take into account the kind of travel your favorite globetrotters or influencers are into. City explorers or luxury-leaning travelers, for example, probably won’t want the same gear as someone who spends their PTO hiking and trekking through the wilderness.
The following options were hand-picked by our team to suit every type of traveler and vacationer on your list. We’ve extensively researched (or personally tested) all of the following gifts to ensure your purchase will make a thoughtful and genuinely practical addition to your loved one’s travels. Here are the best gifts travelers will love — for all budgets and needs.
Paravel Passport Case
If your favorite travelers don’t already have a high-quality passport cover, you might want to consider the Paravel Cabana Passport Case. The elegant leather case can even be personalized with a hand-painted monogram or custom graphic to add another layer of elegance. We also like that this option has an abundance of pockets and card slots to make organization easier.
Boka Fresh on the Go
The Boka Fresh on the Go set was made for travelers who avoid checking a bag at all costs. It includes everything they’ll need to maintain good oral hygiene while on the go. The toothpaste is TSA-approved and the mouthwash — this is the best part — comes in the form of chewable tablets, so it won’t even count toward their liquid quota.
Jamaica Vibes
Jamaica Vibes is one of the latest in the Assouline coffee table book family — and possibly one of the most fun options to date. The stunning visual-first book will allow travelers to reminisce about any time spent in Jamaica (or dream about future trips) while the cover and spine of the book will add a dose of elegant and trendy style to coffee tables and bookshelves.
Contiki Tour
You can’t go wrong with the gift of travel itself. If you’re looking for a big-ticket experience gift for a younger traveler in your life, look no further than a Contiki tour. The pre-packaged trips will take them all over the world with like-minded young people and range from exploring the Garden Route in South Africa to road-tripping through the Balkans.
Epicka Universal Travel Adapter
Sure, a travel adapter might not immediately come off as the most exciting gift. But any traveler will tell you just how valuable a reliable one really is. The Epicka Universal Travel Adapter is the best travel adapter in our book; it works in more than 150 countries and it’s super compact and easy to pack thanks to the modular design. Plus, you can always pair it with a flashier item like a travel-themed phone case .
SereneLife Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
Amazon
The SereneLife Stand-up Paddle Board is an excellent option for anyone who wants to bring the spirit of resort life home. We tested out a variety of inflatable paddle boards and our team agrees that this is the best board on the market thanks to the lightweight, portable design and impressive stability in the water.
LARQ Bottle PureVis
The Larq Self-cleaning Water Bottle is a true game changer for all kinds of travelers. The smart bottle uses UV technology to not just disinfect itself but also to purify the water you’re drinking. This means the jetsetter you’re shopping for will be able to comfortably drink from most water sources without worrying about getting sick.
Tommy Bahama Backpack Beach Chair
The Tommy Bahama Backpack Beach Chair is simply the best beach chair around — and it makes a great gift for road-trippers and camping enthusiasts alike. It’s super easy to transport thanks to the folding backpack design, and is surprisingly comfortable due to the adjustable head pillow and elongated seat. We also like that the frame is rust-proof, meaning it’s perfect for using at the beach or in the rain.
Intelligent Change Inc. The Five Minute Journal
Sometimes, it can be hard to live in the moment and absorb all the magic that is travel — but a gratitude journal can help ensure your globetrotter stays centered on the go. The Five Minute Journal takes, as advertised, takes just five minutes of a traveler’s time; but jotting down their thoughts for those few minutes will help them remember and appreciate the most exciting parts of their day while traveling or at home.
Andobil Car Phone Holder Mount
The best car phone holder mount in our book is the Andobil Car Phone Holder Mount, and it’ll make a great gift for road trippers and car commuters. It’s super easy to install and, once set up, is incredibly stable and easy to use while on the go. There’s also space to plug in a charger so drivers won’t have to mess around with their phone just to get some juice.
Puffer Hug 418 Scarf
Think of the Puffer Hug 418 Scarf as a stylish and equally practical alternative to the fishing vest. Hear us out: this cozy accessory serves as a regular scarf but also has tons of pockets for things like a smartphone or passport. It’s great for wearing to the airport when you need to have documents at the ready but is equally sensible for wearing to explore a new city.
Slip Silk Skinny Scrunchies
The Slip Pure Silk 4-pack Skinny Scrunchies is a fail-safe gift for travelers who want to care for their hair while they're away. The silk design is gentle on the hair and is designed to not pull or cause breakage, even with regular use. We also really like the elegant patterns and colors of the scrunchies, which can easily double as cute arm candy among a stack of bracelets.
Vinarmour Travel Wine Carrier
Wine-loving travelers will flip for the Vinarmour Travel Wine Carrier. This stunning carrier is designed to transport a bottle of wine without any risk of breakage. It features sufficient padding to keep the bottle safe while in transit, but it’s also made from leak-proof material — so even if the bottle was already damaged and cracks while in cargo, it won’t spill on the rest of your luggage.
The Harmonist Travel Coffret
The Harmonist
The Harmonist Travel Coffret is a game-changer when it comes to feeling fresh and relaxed in transit. The set of three heavily-concentrated perfumes were designed to foster a sense of calmness and relaxation thanks to the various notes, including patchouli, pomelo, Bulgarian rose, and vanilla. It also comes with a striking travel case to keep the vials safe in transit.
Twelve South AirFly Pro
The Twelve South AirFly Pro is a T+L editor favorite and such an easy way to upgrade the economy experience. This handy little device allows travelers to use their own Bluetooth headphones or earbuds with the inflight entertainment system rather than having to use the sub-par freebies provided by the airline. The AirFly is super easy to use as well — all you have to do is plug it into the headphone jack on the plane and pair it with your headphones.
Four Seasons Velvet Slippers
Four Seasons
There’s something inherently luxurious about slipping into a pair of hotel slippers upon check in — and the Four Seasons Velvet Slippers amplify that feeling and bring it home. These stunning slippers are made in Italy from sleek velvet and cotton with the Four Seasons logo embroidered on the top. The elastic back and rubber sole make them appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use.
Birdie Personal Safety Alarm
Here’s one for the solo women travelers on your list. The She's Birdie Personal Safety Alarm is designed to fit incognito in her handbag or pocket — but if she finds herself in any kind of trouble, it’s easy to grab and sound the alarm to draw attention and deter an attack. All she has to do is pull off the top tab to activate the 130-decibel siren and flashing strobe light.
Dagne Dover Tech Organizer
Dagne Dover
Nobody thinks they need a tech organizer while traveling, but when you take into account all the cables and adapters required to make international travel smooth, having a specific spot to keep everything untangled is major. The Dagne Dover Arlo Tech Organizer is small enough to pop into a carry-on but has plenty of interior space to store everything a traveler needs.
Lindsay Albanese Toptote Leather Hat Holder
Traveling with a cute hat seems like a great idea, but in practice it can be a bit of a pain. The Lindsay Albanese Toptote Leather Hat Holder allows travelers to bring along a wide-brim hat without having to wear it the entire commute or risking it getting crushed in a suitcase. The clip attaches to the brim of a hat and the built-in carabiner lets you pop it onto a handbag or carry-on for a hands-free solution.
Diptyque Travel Cleansing & Moisturizing Set
This cleansing and moisturizing set will be a welcome addition to any routine whether at home or on the go. The decadent set includes both rinse-free and regular hand wash as well as a moisturizing hand lotion — all of which smell just like your favorite luxury hotel bath products. We also like that this option comes with a cute carrying case that makes it easy to store the items in a handbag or carry-on.
Vasco V4 Language Translator Device
World travelers always have a few favorite travel products they swear by. For traveling abroad, the Vasco V4 Language Translator Device makes the experience so much easier — not just on the traveler but on the locals as well. This genius device provides instant voice translation in 108 languages and comes with free lifetime internet to ensure it’ll always be functional anywhere in the world. The instant translations mean your traveling pal can have real-time conversations with people across the globe, even if there’s no common spoken language.
Pokoloko Harem Towel
The Pokoloko Harem Towel is handcrafted using 100 percent Turkish cotton by artisans in Turkey — and it’s the perfect beach bag essential. It’s very lightweight and rolls down much smaller than the average towel. However, it’s also incredibly absorbent and quick-drying, so travelers can pop it back into their beach bag at the end of the day without worrying about lugging home a soggy towel.
lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag 1L
It’s called the Everywhere Belt Bag for a reason! This Lululemon staple has quickly become a cult classic for travelers (it has quite literally been everywhere this year). The adjustable belt bag is super convenient for everything from hiking to exploring cities hands-free, and the durable nylon material means you won’t have to worry about potential spillage or getting stuck in the rain (it’ll wipe clean with a bit of water).
Longchamp Le Pliage Filet Mesh Bag
Regular travelers know the importance of throwing a decent-sized tote into their luggage. After all, you never know when you’ll need the extra bit of space while on the road. The Longchamp Le Pliage Filet L Mesh Bag offers a sophisticated take on the humble mesh tote complete with a snap closure and both a top handle and shoulder strap for added versatility.
Conair Travel Garment Dual Voltage Steamer
The Conair Power Steam Handheld Travel Garment Steamer makes looking and feeling put together on the road a snap. The compact steamer is small enough to slip into a carry-on bag and pull out as needed while traveling. It boasts a 35-second heat-up time so the traveler in your life can power away wrinkles and creases in no time at all.
YETI Roadie 24 Cooler
The Yeti Roadie 24 Hard Cooler will be well received by the road trip warriors and beach bums on your list. Not only is it super aesthetically pleasing, but it can also actually fit an incredible amount in such a compact space — we’re talking up to 33 cans, 26 pounds of ice, and even full-sized bottles of wine.
Loop Quiet Ear Plugs
You don’t quite realize how high-quality the Loop Quiet earplugs are until you really need them. The surprisingly stylish earplugs were designed to be comfortable while sleeping and will serve as a major blessing the next time your gift recipient has been put in a hotel room next to a crying baby or bachelorette party.
Paravel Mini Fold-up Backpack
The Paravel Mini Fold-Up Backpack earned the top spot in our books as the best mini backpack of 2024 , and it’s easy to see why. It’s easy to fit all the essentials — think a tablet, a wallet, sunscreen, and shoes — but it also folds down into the size of a wallet when not in use, which makes it great for tucking into a carry-on bag in case of emergencies. We also love that this bag has the option to be monogrammed, making your gift all the more thoughtful.
Béis The Cosmetic Case
We love Béis for its cheeky and innovative take on travel accessories — and the Cosmetic Case in particular is one of our top picks of the year for best makeup cases . We love that this option is highly durable but still elegant in design and also has a generous-sized built-in mirror that makes it easy to do makeup or skincare while on the go. It’s also worth noting that this case is available in eight different colorways, so you can choose one that’ll best suit their specific style.
Paravel Aviator Carry-on Plus
If the traveler on your list is in need of a new carry-on, you’ll want to consider the Paravel Aviator Carry-on Plus. This innovative carry-on bag earned top marks in our books as the best piece of luxury luggage thanks to its super sturdy build and variety of organization options within the luggage. It’s also worth noting that all carriers are ethically produced — which makes this a great gift for conscious travelers as well.
Baggu Nylon Crescent Bag
We love a crossbody bag for travel — and the Baggu Nylon Crest Bag is definitely the top crossbody bag of the year in our books. We love just how versatile this bag is and how easily it can be packed into a suitcase without adding any bulk or weight. The crossbody bag is also highly durable and even machine washable, which is a huge perk for travelers who don’t want to have to baby their accessories while on the go.
Awake Caffeinated Chocolate Energy Bar
Frequent flyers know the perils of trying to get a good cup of coffee on an airplane or in an airport — which is why the Awake Caffeinated Chocolate Energy Bites are such a game changer for caffeine-loving travelers. The tasty chocolate bites have the caffeine equivalent of half a cup of coffee, and also offer a sweet sugar kick that’ll help them get through everything from red-eye flights to long layovers.
Nitecore MT21C Flashlight
You might not immediately think of a flashlight as a standout gift for a traveler — but a rechargeable flashlight is a packing essential for travelers who do any kind of adventure or outdoor traveling. The Nitecore MT21C Flashlight is one T+L editors swear by thanks to its compact size, impressive brightness, and longevity (it has a maximum output of 1000 lumens and a peak beam distance of 201 yards). It’s also adjustable by 90 degrees which can be highly practical for getting into tight spaces.
Moon Dissolving Whitening Strips
There’s something about indulging in a self-care routine while flying that can make an economy seat feel like you’re sitting in first class — and what could be more luxurious than whitening your teeth while on the go? The MOON Teeth Whitening Strips were designed to be used while traveling, the strips work the same as your classic Crest variety, but all you have to do is stick them on and wait for them to dissolve — no sink or rinsing required.
Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet
Sure — most airplanes have built-in in-flight entertainment, but boy does it suck when you board a flight only to realize there’s no screen on the seat back. The Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet will let them download all their favorite shows and movies to watch on the flight. It’s also great for reading e-books or checking into social media while in transit.
Aer Travel Weekender
Aer
The Aer Travel Weekender is our favorite carry-on duffel bag right now thanks to its versatility and durable design. We like that this bag can easily be used as a top-handle tote, but that it also has a built-in strap that makes it easy to use as a duffel bag while on the go. It’s worth noting that the bag also has a 16-inch padded laptop sleeve, which means they’ll be able to keep their laptop or tablet safe and secure while traveling.
Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3
A portable speaker makes a great addition to any traveler’s packing list. Not only does it ensure the vibes will be good no matter where they find themselves, it’s also a great tool for playing white noise and making it easier to fall asleep in unfamiliar places. We highly recommend the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3; this one is super easy to connect to any phone and is both waterproof and dustproof — so they won’t have to be precious with it while traveling.
nCamp Café Portable Coffee Maker
If you’ve got a coffee lover on your list, the nCamp Café Portable Coffee Maker is going to be a game changer in terms of the quality of their morning joe. This compact coffee maker is especially great to bring on camping trips because it crafts espresso-style coffee without any power source. The only thing they’ll need is a hot water source and they’ll have cafe-quality brew wherever they go (which, let’s be honest, will also save them a ton of money on morning coffee).
Nintendo Switch
Travel can be endlessly thrilling and entertaining — but there’s a lot of downtime that comes with it as well. A Nintendo Switch is going to make a great gift for the gamers on your list (or those traveling with little ones). The beauty of the Switch is that they’ll be able to use it as a handheld to pass the time at airports or train stations, but it can also be set up television-style to play party games at the hotel room or Airbnb.
Infinity Pillow Travel Pillow
Infinity Pillow
Unless you’re lucky enough to get a miraculous upgrade to business class, sleeping on a plane can be a struggle. That’s where the Infinity Pillow Travel Pillow comes in. This innovative pillow was designed with neck support and can be adapted to work whether they’re in the window, aisle, or even the middle seat. It’s also temperature regulating, so it won’t make them sweaty mid-flight, and doubles as an eye mask.
Call You When I Land: A Memoir
Travel writer and author Nikki Vargas spares no detail in her evocative memoir Call You When I Land , which follows Vargas as she relentlessly pursues her dream career, and in turn, dream lifestyle. The juicy travelogue is ideal for fans of Eat Pray Love or What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding . Oh — and there’s a love story and murder mystery baked into it as well. Can you say beach read?
Nimble Champ Portable Charger
It doesn’t matter how streamlined their travel is — every traveler struggles with having juice for all their devices while on the go. Sometimes it’s a lack of adequate adapters, and sometimes it’s long excursions with no charging outlet in sight. Either way, a decent portable charger just makes things easier. We love the Nimble Champ Portable Charger in particular. It’s compact and durable, but it’s also eco-friendly having been crafted in part from recycled water bottles.
Slip Lovely Lashes Contour Sleep Mask
Traveling without a sleep mask sucks — especially if you’re sensitive to light or plan to sleep on the plane. The Slip Lovely Lashes Contour Sleep Mask in particular is an awesome gift and great alternative to the classic eye mask model. It’s crafted from real silk, so it won’t pull or mess up their hair. It also has a contoured eye area so it won’t squish their eyes or lashes, even if they use it all night long.
Away The Insider Packing Cubes
Away The Insider Packing Cubes are a game changer for travelers who want to pack light and travelers who like to pack more than they might need. For starers, these packing cubes allow them to organize their clothing by categories, which allows them to have a better grasp on exactly what they have. The cubes also gently compress clothing which makes it easy to fit everything into a carry-on or smaller-sized suitcase as needed.
Skyborne iTravel Folio 4.0
Staying organized and on the ball on travel days makes the whole experience go much smoother — and that’s why we love the Skyborne iTravel Folio 4.0. This sleek travel wallet is designed to fit all their travel documents (including passport, smartphone, AirPods, and more) in one stylish zippered wallet. It also has built-in charging capabilities to keep their electronics juiced up, no matter where they are.
Rewined Bordeaux Candle
If they’re always waxing poetic about their trip to wine country, why not gift them an olfactory memory of their time? The Bordeaux Candle by Rewined comes as an homage to the French countryside with notes of Maritime Pine, Crushed Herbs, and Cypress that are designed to transport them right back to the vineyards of Bordeaux. Rewined’s candles are also beautifully made and will look just as good as they smell on a coffee table or kitchen counter.
Pocket Tripod Universal Kit
Pocket Tripod
Let’s be honest: no matter how cool we think we are, everyone wants to get some good photos to share on social media (or to look back on) while traveling. The Pocket Tripod Universal Kit is a super compact and discreet alternative to the larger tripods on the market. It’s about the size of a credit card and is easy to pop onto a smartphone for an instant tripod, wherever they find themselves.
Foreo Luna Mini 2 Facial Cleansing Brush
Traveling can wreak some serious havoc on the skin — which is why skincare-loving travelers (and really anyone who likes a clean face!) will flip for the FOREO LUNA Mini. This innovative skincare tool uses T-sonic pulsations to clean the skin, brushing away any traces of makeup, dirt, or acne-causing bacteria that might be lurking on their face after a long flight or day of exploration.
Audible Membership
If you’re shopping for a traveler who is big on podcasts or listening to audio books while on the go, a subscription to Audible is pretty much a no-brainer. This subscription will get them one free audiobook per month and allow them to listen to all kinds of different books at their own pace while traveling. It’s also a great alternative to packing various books or having to remember an e-reader; all their audiobooks will be accessible right on their smartphone or tablet!
The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine
The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine by wine writer and author Andrea Lemieux is the only English-language anthology you’ll find sharing the ins and outs of Turkish wine. Turkey is one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world, and Lemieux’s comprehensive guide will inspire them to book a trip to the wine trail of Turkey thanks to her captivating (and comprehensive) descriptions and gorgeous illustrations and visuals to match.
Riemot Luggage Cup Holder
It would be nice to have another set of hands when rolling through the airport, wouldn’t it? Well, that’s where the Riemot Luggage Travel Cup Holder comes in. This handy attachment can fit onto any rolling suitcase or carry-on. It not only accommodates a beverage, but also easily fits a wallet or passport and most smartphones. There’s nothing better than being hands-free without having to dig through a handbag or backpack to get out the essentials.
BasicConcepts Airplane Foot Hammock
Sure — it might look a little cheesy at first glance… but they will be incredibly grateful for this whimsical gift when they’re on hour five of their next red-eye flight. The Basic Concepts Airplane Foot Hammock attaches underneath the tray table, providing them with instant relief of aches and pains that might crop up after sitting upright for hours on end. It can adjust to three different positions as well, so they’ll be able to continue to change their position throughout the flight for added comfort.
Steamline Luggage The Palm Cosmetics Set
Steamline Luggage
Frequent flyers are always on the hunt for streamlined packing accessories — and this cosmetics set from Steamline Luggage is a standout option. It ranks number one in our best travel pouch of 2024 thanks to its charming tropical-inspired prints and the fact that the pouches are crafted from recycled water bottles. The pouches can easily fit inside of one another when not in use and lay flat, which makes them easy to pack and store.
1,000 Places to See Before You Die
1,000 Places to See Before You Die is one of our favorite travel-focused reference books. The anthology is a veritable bucket list that is just as good for armchair travel as it is for reference when planning a trip. We also love flipping through this book to reflect on all the places we’ve been — the intriguing descriptions and photography evoke memories while also seeing even the most popular tourist destinations and monuments in a refreshing new light.
Native Union Universal Sling
The Native Union Universal Sling is designed to pop onto smartphones like a phone case — but it comes with a built-in strap that allows travelers to wear their phone like a crossbody bag or around their neck like a lanyard. It’s available in a variety of colorways and is made from recycled material for a more sustainable approach. It’s perfect for travel as it’s more secure than throwing a phone in a pocket or bag as well.

2024 Update: We’ve checked that all of these fabulous travel gifts for women are still available and we’ve replaced some gifts with others where needed. As for what’s new this year, we found this shop on Etsy that specialises in candles inspired by travel destinations around the world. Very cool! Speaking of candles, we’re loving this surprise trip candle , which can be personalised with the date and location of your trip, as well as a cute message. Also, if you’re struggling to find the Travel Hack Tote Bag we’ve recommended previously, then this one from the same company is very similar.
Travel-Inspired Stocking Fillers Under £15
Whether you’re loading up on stocking fillers or you simply don’t want to break the bank, take a look at these travel gifts for women under £15, which she is sure to love!
Who doesn’t love opening cute little gifts found inside stockings or hiding among Christmas tree branches? An enamel pin is perfect for this and there are so many travel-inspired designs to choose from like this cute ‘Wild & Free’ pin , these fun instant photo pins and this pin with a wanderlust mountain scene on it .
Handmade HopeForExcel Gifts (currently unavailable)
We’ve recently discovered this local seller on Etsy who makes beautiful African-inspired greeting cards and jewellery – with all profits going to a charity that supports five primary schools in the poorest parts of Nairobi. So at the same time as buying a unique travel-inspired stocking filler, you’ll also be supporting a great cause! You can find her cards and gifts on Etsy , or read more about this project here .
2024 Update: The HopeForExcel shop is currently “taking a break”, but we still wanted to include it in our gift guide as the owner may reopen her shop again soon. Let’s hope so!
Help the chic traveller in your life ditch the one-off plastic bags used in airport security by buying them a clear cosmetics bag that they can use time and time again. Not only is this better for the environment, but it also means they won’t have to waste precious time at the airport transferring their toiletries into a plastic bag. They’ll be security-ready before they’ve even left the house!
Take a look at these ones, which are pretty and useful:
- 3-pack pink cosmetics bags
- Black & gold cosmetics case
- 3-pi ece marble cosmetics bags
Bonus Gift Idea: Scott and I have also recently bought this set of colourful travel bottles , which are good quality and already come inside a clear cosmetics bag that can be used over and over again. We definitely recommend them as a useful stocking filler!
Oh, how times have changed since I first started travelling! Today, you can buy makeup travel mirrors like this pretty rose gold one , which fold up oh-so-neatly and even have little LED beauty spotlights inside them. Useful, pretty, and perfect as a stocking filler for travel lovers!
Okay, they’ve got a clear cosmetics bag and makeup travel mirror; now they need their favourite toiletries and cosmetics! If the travel lover in your life has a favourite beauty brand, find out whether their products come in bottles of less than 100ml ( like Sanctuary Spa’s products inside this kit ) – and just like that, you’ve got a whole bunch of stocking fillers she can use on her next getaway.
Whether she’s travelling this year, next year or beyond, you can never go wrong with an in-flight essentials kit. Especially these days, a lot of us are more safety-conscious than before and we don’t leave the house without hand sanitiser. So, a kit like this is sure to be a hit! You could put everything together yourself, or you can buy ready-made kits like the ones from Pinch Provisions .
Shampoo bars are a fabulous travel gift for women ( and men, actually! ) for two reasons. They help to reduce plastic waste and they don’t count towards your 100ml liquid allowance if travelling hand luggage only. There are lots of cosmetics brands to choose from, but if you’re not sure which to go for, then I’d either go with something from Lush or this orange and ginger one from Amazon .
A collapsible water bottle is another stocking filler we recommend for travel lovers as they help you to drink more, save a bit of money and roll up into a small size when they’re empty, so you’re not taking up unnecessary space in your suitcase or backpack. Check out this one on Amazon as it’s got great reviews and won’t bust the bank!
Personalised Leather Luggage Tags
For an oh-so-charming stocking filler, you can’t go wrong with personalised luggage tags. Sadly, the shop where I originally bought mine from is marked as “taking a break” on Etsy, but these ones are a great alternative. Their design is simple and pretty and the luggage tags are in high demand!
Why not also buy her a personalised passport holder to match her new luggage tags? Or you could go for a completely fresh look like this pretty floral design or this fun travel quote design . The choices are endless!
What kind of stocking doesn’t also have a few novelty gifts thrown in amongst all the practical ones? Here’s an idea for travel lovers: candles that smell like places! There are websites like Homesick and shops on Etsy like WanderlustCandleCoUK that specialise in these kinds of candles. For example, transport them to Hawaii with candles that smell like pineapple or coconut (or both!), or to Canada with maple syrup candles , or to Indonesia with lemongrass and ginger candles . And if they’re feeling homesick for the UK? Try a fruity concoction inspired by our autumnal hedgerows .
Speaking of travel-inspired candles, if you’re planning on surprising her with a trip, then why not let her know through a “surprise trip” candle like this one ? You can choose the scent and personalise the design to show where you’re going and when. You can even leave her a little personalised note on the candle. I love it!
Packing cubes are a great budget travel gift if you know she doesn’t have any already, or if she’s clearly struggling with the concept of “packing light”! Plus, compression packing cubes are well worth the extra bit of money as you can fit loads more clothes in them than standard packing cubes. Check out these pretty pink and gold ones , which are useful and oh-so-chic at the same time!
Okay, so you may struggle with fitting a travel pillow inside her stocking (unless it’s a big one!), but they’re a great gift under £15 all the same. Go for an ultra-soft travel pillow to give her some added luxury during her flight like this soft memory foam one or one of these cute Kawaii-inspired ones .
Cute little travel jewellery boxes like these ones on Etsy are great stocking fillers! They’re pretty, personalised and practical. What more could you want?! I especially like the ones that have pretty cursive writing on the top as they’re so chic and feminine. We won’t tell if you want to buy one for yourself either, they’re hard to resist!
Does she love trips to Disney World or Disneyland? Awesome, she’s our kind of people! Why not transport her (virtually!) or get her ready for her next Disney trip by buying her something Disney-inspired? You could buy her a fun Disney t-shirt or vest top , some Disney-inspired jewellery or even some Minnie Mouse ears , which she can wear now and on her next Disney trip! Sorted.
Chic Jetsetter Gift Guide: Affordable Travel Gifts For Women Under £50
And now for our Chic Jetsetter Gift Guide! Most of these travel gifts for women are on the cheaper end of the scale (most of them are around £30), so they still won’t break the bank! You’re welcome.
If your favourite travel lover is also a travel blogger like me, then she’ll need somewhere to jot down blog ideas during her trips. And if she’s not a travel blogger, then a travel journal is still a great idea as she can use it like a scrapbook or diary when she’s away travelling! Why not make this gift even more special by getting her a personalised travel journal? We love th is cute pastel blue one and this faux leather journal , which is perfect for outdoor lovers and adventurers!
We book all our day tours through Get Your Guide as it’s easy to do online and they have a super generous 24-hour cancellation policy! So why not buy your loved one a Get Your Guide gift card and let her pick from over 35,000 incredible experiences, day trips and tours from all over the world?!
Help your favourite travel lover travel in style during their next trip with a fashionable travel backpack. We’ve scoured the interwebs and found a whole bunch of great ones, which you can see in this blog post . But if we had to choose just one for female travellers, it would be the Travel Hack Backpack , which is stylish in black and rose gold and practical with lots of pockets and compartments! Check prices on Amazon or read my full review here .
Who doesn’t love a bit of travel-inspired decor dotted around their home? Throw pillows are an affordable gift, but because there are so many different styles to choose from, it’s also a unique gift. We particularly like this fun destination pillow , this sweet “Follow Your Dreams” pillow and this cute “We Are Happy Campers” pillow .
Get your favourite travel lover ready for their next weekend jaunt to the coast or epic road trip with a chic weekend bag or holdall. We think she’ll like this gorgeous nautical-inspired set , this practical grey one and this pretty floral patterned one .
Insta-Famous Travel Books
We’re big fans of pretty coffee table travel books as they’re a great way to escape virtually from the comfort of your sofa and they make great decor items! Here are a few that I’ve personally loved reading and that are big hits with other female travellers too:
- World of Wanderlust
- Pretty City London: Discovering London’s Beautiful Places
- Pretty City New York: Discovering New York’s Beautiful Places
- How To Be Parisian: Wherever You Are
Not all hotels offer hairdryers when you arrive. Hostels certainly don’t. And if they do, they’re usually cheap ones that take ages to dry long hair anyway. So, why not treat your favourite travel lover to her very own pint-sized hairdryer? This BaByliss one is pretty great – and especially for the price!
If you know she travels with a fair bit of makeup and toiletries during her trips, then definitely check out hanging cosmetics bags like this one . They come in a range of colours and designs and you can fit a fair amount inside them. You can also hang them up on the back of the door or cupboard to stop everything from getting wet.
I don’t know a single woman who doesn’t love receiving jewellery as gifts, and when they’re travel lovers, there are so many different designs to choose from! Here are a few of my favourites, which I’m sure she’ll like too:
- World Map Necklace
- Explorer Heart Bracelet
- Compass Necklace
- Personalised St Christopher Pendant
- The Jetsetter Bracelet Pack
I could never be without my travel organiser as it makes finding my passport, boarding pass and other travel documents a breeze (even when I’m using a large handbag or cabin bag!) But, you can also go one step further and get an RFID travel organiser to help protect her documents. I adore this pretty-in-pink one from Amazon .
We were gifted some Tesalate beach towels a couple of years ago and we’ve used them on all of our trips since. Why? They’ve got fantastic vibrant patterns on them, they’re fast-drying, and are made of a different kind of material, which is designed to leave sand on the beach. And they really work! When you know she already has everything she could possibly need for travelling, help make her next trip an even more memorable one by giving her a unique travel experience. You could buy a specific experience from somewhere like Virgin Experience Days or BuyAGift . But we’ve also recently heard about Tinggly , which is another travel gift experience company – but with two major differences. First, there’s no expiration date on the experience! And second, each gift box allows your favourite traveller to choose their own experience in countries all over the world! Cool, huh?!

Give Her Serenity in a Tube
We pride ourselves on our ability to sniff out the best gift ideas. Here in Gift of the Day, we’re sharing picks in partnership with some of our favorite brands — all of which have been vetted by our editors.
We switch up the picks on the Strategist 100 every six months, booting some stuff off when something better or newer comes along. However, there are some products that have kept their place ever since the list’s inception — for example, the Scentered Aromatherapy Sleep Well Balm .
It’s a $25 lavender-scented essential-oil stick about the size of a tube of lipstick. Contributor Sara Gaynes Levy likens it to “Ambien, but without the side effects.” There are a few ways to use it. You can inhale it like Levy did or rub it on your pulse points. The stick has a similar texture to lip balm and is made from nourishing shea butter, so if your mom chooses to rub the scent into her skin, she’ll be doing a bit of moisturizing too.
And if lavender doesn’t appeal, there are other scents to choose from, like De-Stress (a chamomile, neroli, and mandarin blend) or Happy, which smells of grapefruit, lemon myrtle, and spearmint.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments , rolling luggage , pillows for side sleepers , natural anxiety remedies , and bath towels . We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
