New Global Campaign for Tourism in Israel starring British TV host Sian Welby

Following the successful “Two Cities One Break” campaign we created for the Israeli ministry of tourism last year, a new global campaign was recently launched based on a concept we created: “Two Sunny Cities. One Break.”

We collaborated once more with last year’s beloved presenter Shir Elmaliach and teamed her up with famous British TV host Sian Welby.

The video, directed by Tal Zagreba, uses Instagram’s stories aesthetics as it follows the two when they travel together in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In order to attract potential tourists from cold and grey Europe, the main theme in the campaign is the Israeli sun, with Boney M’s “Sunny” played in the background.

The video will be promoted on TV and online across Europe.

‘White Night’ campaign by Tel Aviv Global & Tourism

' src=

Tel Aviv Global & Tourism’s “White Night” Campaign marks the 20th anniversary of Tel  Aviv being designated the “White City” by UNESCO. The “White Night” is regarded as one  of the city’s largest cultural events. The all-night celebration features performances, music  shows from dusk until dawn, all-night museum access, yoga at sunrise, and much more.

Launched on June 17 through digital platforms, the “ White Night” campaign, produced by  Tel Aviv Global & Tourism, draws inspiration from the popular social media trend of  emulating Wes Anderson’s distinctive cinematic style. Anderson, known for his unique eccentricity, visual finesse, and narrative style, serves as a creative influence for the  campaign, to attract art aficionados and culture connoisseurs to the city and the “White  Night” festival. The promotional video shows the campaign’s protagonist navigating  through the iconic “White City” of Tel Aviv, adorned with stunning Bauhaus architecture.  The video also displays Anderson-esque elements, such as meticulous symmetry, precise  camera movements, and signature colour palettes reminiscent of his films.

The tradition of the “White Night” celebration originated in July 2003 when UNESCO  recognized Tel Aviv as the “White City,” an urban treasure blending historical significance  and architectural uniqueness, earning it the status of a World Heritage Site. Tel Aviv’s city  centre houses the world’s largest collection of Bauhaus buildings, solidifying its distinct  position in the realm of modern architecture. This heritage distinction intertwined with Tel  Aviv’s reputation as the “Non-stop city”, combined to give rise to the all-night celebration  that has become known as “White Night”.

This year, “White Night” will happen on June 29 th as Tel Aviv proudly  commemorates 20 years since receiving the UNESCO designation. Explore the  campaign

According to Sammy Yahia, “White Night”, one of the biggest and most cherished cultural  events in the city, celebrates its 20 th year this year. With its all-night events comprising of  concerts, music shows, yoga at dawn and much more, it is a celebration that really  highlights Tel Aviv’s notoriety as the city that does not stop. It is a celebration that does, in  fact, highlight the uniqueness of the city.”

Sammy Yahia Director of Tourism India and Philippines said: “Israel is a country with a rich cultural, historical, and religious heritage, and is home to a  variety of attractions that offer something for everyone. Whether you are interested in  history, culture, nature, or just looking for a unique experience, Israel is a destination that is  sure to deliver”.

A new TV advert designed to encourage travel to Israel is to be screened from this week.

The £2 million Israel Ministry of Tourism campaign includes TV, video on demand and online spend.

The 40-second advert will run this week until March 18, on channels including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky among others.

The promotional push builds upon a Two Cities One Break campaign, with the aim of encouraging tourists to visit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in one trip.

The advert follows TV and radio presenter Sian Welby as she experiences the beaches of Tel Aviv to the historic sites of Jerusalem in an Instagram stories-style format.

UK director of the Israel Government Tourist Office, Sharon Bershadsky, said: “We’re very excited to announce our new TV ad is set to hit your living rooms.

“Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are incredible cities, with such different cultures, giving people the ultimate long weekend getaway for an unforgettable experience.”

Tel Aviv & Jerusalem

Where else can you have fun in the sun, enjoy a world-class culture scene and step into events that have driven human history?

Tel Aviv, a bustling a highly modern metropolis, boasts beaches with fine golden sand, a hip atmosphere and ample opportunities for fun infused with authentic Middle Eastern flavor, not to mention great food and coffee. Just forty minutes away, experience an entirely different beat and pulse: Jerusalem, a city of such unparalleled beauty, it will be easy to understand why for millennia it has been so inspirational for so many. While both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are two busy, vital and intriguing cities that offer a multitude of must-see attractions, they couldn’t be more different. Despite their geographic proximity, they have entirely different landscapes, scents and flavors. Where else could you so easily combine the ultimate beach destination with one of the most ancient and holiest cities in history? So here’s a sample menu of what you can do on a vacation in both cities.

visit tel aviv advert

Tel Aviv – the city that never sleeps

So you’ve landed in Tel Aviv… Experience all the excitement the first Hebrew city dishes up. Discover the stunning azure hues of the Mediterranean, the quaint spots in the White City, its markets, restaurants, special flavors and scintillating night life. Catch a few waves and see exactly why Tel Aviv is known as the non-stop city, living and breathing vitality, 24 hours a day. So let’s go.

Neve Tzedek

Discover the magic of this spectacular and beautifully renovated neighborhood, located on the southern end of the Tel Aviv Promenade, next to Jaffa. Start your morning with a culinary experience that includes a typical Israeli breakfast: delicious baked goods, eggs, cheeses and dips, green salad or chopped salad, orange juice and, of course, excellent coffee. The recommended tour of Neve Zedek takes you to historical landmarks and small, wonderful museums.

After recharging, go visit Hatachana, which is close by. There you can visit renovated Templar buildings, as well as Jaffa’s old train station, completely redone. The site tells the tale of the train station, with its Jaffa-Jerusalem line, that operated here from 1892-1948.

Next, take a walk along the stunning Tel Aviv beach promenade to Jaffa. We recommend visiting Jaffa Port, considered to be one of the world’s most ancient ports. Lounge at one of the many cafes that dot the wharf, and watch the fisherman at work. Then, continue towards the colorful flea market, where you can treat yourself to a vintage item, Armenian ceramics, a hamsa or any of a multitude of souvenirs. At night, the area transforms itself into a hopping bar and restaurant scene.

Pedal down the beach

Tel Aviv is known as Israel’s bicycle capital. On a nice day, those of you with a sporty spirit can rent a bike at a one of the Tel-O-Fun stations or any other rental spot around town. Biking from Neve Zedek to Tel Baruch beach in the northern part of the city is a phenomenally fun experience.

Eretz Israel Museum

If you find yourself in the northern section of town, we suggest you visit the Eretz Israel Museum. It is a multidisciplinary museum that focuses on the history and culture of Israel through permanent and temporary exhibits dedicated to archeology, ethnography, post and philately, folklore, Judaica, traditional crafts, popular art, cultural history and local identity.

Rothschild Boulevard

Looking for an inviting location where you can enjoy a great meal? Try eating at one of the fine restaurants on or around Rothschild Boulevard, right in the heart of the city, it is one of the three zones that make up the White City, recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. This street, which perfectly defines the essence of Tel Aviv, offers you a prime opportunity for people watching. You can also take a stroll and take in the impressive Bauhaus architecture, the old kiosk and the small museums that relate the fascinating story of Tel Aviv and its first neighborhood, Ahuzat Bayit.

If you plan on staying in the city, you can opt to take a room at one of the big hotels located on the beach, near the promenade, or at one of the lovely boutique hotels. And if you’re still energized and raring to go, now’s the time to enjoy yourself at one of the popular bars, nightclubs, the Opera House, a dance performance or any of the many events and festivals in Tel Aviv. Done sampling the good life in Tel Aviv? Now enjoy the best of both worlds by heading out to Jerusalem. It’s only 40 minutes away! The Holy City awaits you!

Jerusalem – the world’s most beautiful city

Discover the city most sacred to three religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. Visit the historic sites, breathe in the dizzying scents, taste the special dishes, inhale the clean mountain air and have fun at the many entertainment hot spots around the city.

Even before reaching the city, you can visit the picturesque neighborhood of Ein Kerem. Just a 20-minute drive from the city center, it is known for its idyllic character. Nestled in greenery, Ein Kerem brings you breathtaking views, charming stone houses, churches and mosques, fascinating historical sites, enchanting alleys, galleries and special boutique shops, cafes and fine restaurants, as well as exquisite hotels, both old and new.

Bloomfield Science Museum

Jerusalem’s science museum is a magical kingdom for adults and children alike, filled with moving objects, optical illusions, electrical experiments and everything that has made our world a user-friendly place.

The Old City

At the top of any Jerusalem itinerary! The Old City of Jerusalem is, simply put, an ancient treasure trove of discovery and delight. The true essence of Jerusalem is hidden in the narrow, winding alleyways of the Old City: the special atmosphere, fascinating history and secrets are revealed among its ancient stones. Visit the Western Wall to be moved by the sanctity of the remains of the Temple and to place a note with a request to the Holy One between the stones.

Follow in the footsteps of Jesus, down the Via Dolorosa, to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – home to the two holiest sites of Christianity: the site where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and the empty tomb, from which he is believed to have resurrected. Continue to Mount Zion, where you can visit the Cenacle (also known as the Upper Room), traditionally held to be the site of the Last Supper. Then, as Jesus did frequently, visit the Mount of Olives for a moment of meditation at Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed and his disciples slept the night before the crucifixion. And, ascend to the rooftop of the Austrian Hospice of the Holy Family for a truly magnificent view of Jerusalem and the Old City. To immerse you even deeper into the roots of ancient Jerusalem, tour the Western Wall tunnels, visit the Dome of the Rock, the holy site where Muhammad is believed to have ascended to Heaven, and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, home to one of the most beautiful organs in Israel.

Machane Yehuda Market

You’ve been busy today. Starting to feel hungry? Now you can visit Machane Yehuda Market – Jerusalem’s bustling and vibrant open air market. Alongside the market’s well-known stands, many cafes and upscale food shops have sprung up in recent years.

Shopping in Jerusalem

Ready for some shopping and souvenirs? Buy Armenian ceramics or Judaica in the special and beautiful stores in the Old City. You will also find stores selling a plethora of souvenirs from Israel in the city center. You’ll find numerous clothing stores located on the Ben-Yehuda Promenade. And don’t forget to check out the second hand shops if you want to purchase something a little more authentic. What’s more, don’t miss a visit to the upscale Mamila mall, considered one of the city’s most active shopping centers. So diverse, so distinct and any yet just a short commute apart, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv make the perfect destination package. Together, they bring you history and modernity, ancient artifacts and modern arts, fun in the sun and the most spiritual journey of your life. It doesn’t get any better than that! So what are you waiting for? Book your vacation now!

In welcome move for israel travel, delta and virgin atlantic announce return to tel aviv.

The decision by two of the world’s major airlines is a vote of confidence in the country.

Anthony Grant/The New York Sun

More flights to Israel: It is both a welcome development for travelers to the Middle East and an elbow to Israel’s armchair vilifiers as the country steels itself against the economic fallout of its war against Hamas.

Following the outbreak of hostilities last October, and again following Iranian strikes against Israel in April, several major airlines suspended service to Tel Aviv. Yet the world’s largest airline by revenue, Delta, as well as a codeshare partner, Virgin Atlantic, will soon be resuming their flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport.

Delta’s nonstop daily service to Tel Aviv from New York’s JFK will resume on June 7. Separately, in a press statement on Monday, Virgin Atlantic confirmed that on September 5, it “will resume flying between London Heathrow and Tel Aviv, for the first time since October 11, 2023,” and that “flights will operate daily on board the airline’s Airbus A330 aircraft, offering connections through Heathrow from 11 US cities with optimal connectivity from key US hubs including New York (JFK).”

In addition, Delta recently announced a new codeshare agreement with El Al, and Virgin Atlantic on Monday announced a similar pact with Israel’s flag carrier.

According to a press release, “the two airlines will place codes on their respective London Heathrow and Tel Aviv services, allowing customers greater flexibility, frequencies with up to four daily flights, and choice when selecting travel” between America and Israel. The launch and on sale date of the Virgin Atlantic code on El Al is June 10.

Delta’s equipment on the JFK-Tel Aviv route will be the Airbus A330-900neo, with the resumption of service meaning an addition of nearly 2,000 seats weekly between New York City and Israel. According to a press statement, the decision to resume the route on June 7 followed an extensive security risk assessment by the airline. The statement added that “Delta continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel in conjunction with government and private-sector partners.”

In a statement, Virgin Atlantic’s chief commercial officer, Juha Jarvinen, said that “as we celebrate our 40th anniversary this month, we know that giving our customers more choice and award-winning service in the skies is what fuels our success, alongside working with the best partners. Our return to Tel Aviv on September 5 will be welcome news for our customers who have enjoyed our service since 2019, and this time round it’ll be strengthened further by our new codeshare partnership with EL AL.”

Aviation aficionados have long appreciated Virgin Atlantic’s innovative, often brash approach to air travel and Virgin Atlantic’s CEO, Shai Weiss, is one of the most articulate and respected executives in the industry.

Travel, and the ease of it or lack thereof, is often a bellwether of the economic or political health of a given country or destination, and Israel has in recent months and for well-known reasons been experiencing severe turbulence on both the economic and political fronts. Investments in Israel are in an increasingly precarious state — and that is happening as more and more countries are lining up to recognize a Palestinian state.

There is also a growing danger of economic boycotts of Israel extending to individual travelers. The Maldives, for one, has just “resolved to impose a ban on Israeli passports,” according to that island nation’s president . The decision poses definite risks to both Israeli citizens and those with dual Israeli and American citizenship.

In that respect, the decision by two of the world’s major airlines to restore service to Israel, even as it grapples with unresolved strategic issues, is a vote of confidence in the country.

Bruno Mars’s cancellation of his Tel Aviv concert last October may now seem like a distant memory, and Israel in the summer of 2024 is a changed country. Yet more flights going in and out means more mobility and economic activity, plus more cold water for Israel’s detractors.

Mr. Grant, a California native who has written for many major newspapers including France-Soir and the New York Times and worked in television at Paris (France24) and Tel Aviv (i24news), is now based in Athens as a staff reporter and editor of The New York Sun.

Delta Air Lines to Resume Flights to Tel Aviv This Week

The airline's route from New York will resume on Friday.

Delta Air Lines will resume flights to Tel Aviv this week, becoming the latest airline to relaunch its route.

The carrier will restart flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on June 7, Delta announced. The route will operate daily on an Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

“The decision to resume the route on June 7, 2024, which was temporarily suspended in October 2023, follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline,” Delta wrote in a statement. “Delta continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel in conjunction with government and private-sector partners.”

Like most airlines around the world, Delta paused its service to Israel in October 2023 following the start of the war in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

The decision to restart service to the country comes months after United Airlines did the same from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in March. However, in April, United once again temporarily suspended flights to the country following security concerns between Israel and Iran, Reuters reported .

A spokesperson for United confirmed to Travel + Leisure the airline will once again resume flights on June 6.

While Delta has not flown to Israel, its codeshare partner, EL AL Israel Airlines , has continued to operate between the country and the United States.

The U.S. Department of State, which designates Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization , has issued an advisory for U.S. citizens to “reconsider travel” to both Israel and the West Bank due to “terrorism and civil unrest,” and to not travel to Gaza “due to terrorism and armed conflict.”

“The security situation remains unpredictable, and U.S. citizens are reminded to remain vigilant and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness as security incidents, including mortar and rocket fire, often take place without warning,” the State Department wrote about travel to Israel.

The State Department added the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to conduct “large-scale military operations in Gaza” and the “U.S. government is unable to provide routine or emergency consular services to U.S. citizens in Gaza as U.S. government employees are prohibited from traveling there.”

Delta will resume daily nonstop service to Tel Aviv (TLV) from New York-JFK this summer, operating the route on an Airbus A330-900neo that will provide customers with nearly 2,000 weekly seats from New York to Israel.

The decision to resume the route on June 7, 2024, which was temporarily suspended in October 2023, follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline. Delta continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel in conjunction with government and private-sector partners.

In recent months, Delta has strengthened its presence in Israel through a codeshare arrangement with EL AL Israel Airlines. Delta customers have access to EL AL’s direct services to Tel Aviv from major U.S. cities like New York-JFK, New York-Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. With the reinstatement of Delta’s New York-JFK service this summer, customers have additional travel choices connecting North America and Israel.

Delta Air Lines to resume flights from New York to Tel Aviv

( NewsNation ) — Delta announced it would be resuming flights to Israel starting Friday, making it the second U.S. airline to do so after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants on Israel.

“The decision to resume the route on June 7, 2024, which was temporarily suspended in October 2023, follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline. Delta continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel in conjunction with government and private-sector partners,” the company said in a news release .

Delta is set to resume daily, nonstop service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Tel Aviv (TLV) on Friday.

Customers will also have access to Israeli EL AL’s direct service to Tel Aviv from major U.S. cities including, New York-Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Delta first announced it would resume flights to Israel on March 13. United Airlines restarted its service from Newark, New Jersey, to Tel Aviv on March 6. This came after Germany’s Lufthansa decided to resume flights to Israel.

Restarting U.S. carrier flights to Tel Aviv signals a potential turning point for travel to Israel, after tourism dried up on security fears following the Hamas rampage and subsequent Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

Before Oct. 7, United had four direct flights daily to Tel Aviv from Newark, San Francisco, Washington and Chicago. The airline said the flights where service has not yet resumed “will be evaluated for resumption beginning in the fall.”

Reuters contributed to this report.

I canceled my airline tickets months ago, so where’s my money?

After john bernath canceled his flight from amman, jordan, to tel aviv, israel, a booking.com representative promised him a full refund. so, why hasn’t he received anything.

After John Bernath canceled his flight from Amman, Jordan, to Tel Aviv, Israel, a Booking.com representative promised him a full refund.

Q. Last year, I bought two round-trip flights from Amman to Tel Aviv through Booking.com . The tickets on Royal Jordanian Airlines were refundable. In November, I called to cancel my tickets and spoke with a Booking.com representative, who said I would get my money back — minus a cancellation fee of about $16 — in about two weeks.

Two weeks later, there was no sign of the money. I called Royal Jordanian Airlines, and they referred me back to Booking.com . I called back and reached out to someone on the “advanced” support team. A representative promised to call me back within 72 hours, but I never heard from anyone.

I called a month later and spoke with another representative who gave me a different reference number to contact their customer service by phone. But it failed to get me access to Booking.com . Without the correct number, you can’t even gain access to an agent or an operator.

The Booking.com website showed my tickets as “canceled” with a refund due of $16. But I paid $589 for them. After 11 weeks of contacting both Royal Jordanian Airlines and Booking.com , I’m still no closer to receiving a refund. Can you help me get my money back?

JOHN BERNATH, Lake Worth, Fla.

A. You should have had your refund months ago. So, what’s going on?

My first clue was the refund status from Booking.com . It suggested that you were only due a $16 refund — what appears to be a cancellation fee — on your ticket. I thought you had misread the terms of your ticket and that it was nonrefundable.

But then you showed me the ticket, and indeed, it was refundable.

I’ve seen this before. I call it “the crisis refund problem.” When there’s a big incident that triggers a wave of cancellations — 9/11, a pandemic, or an armed conflict — an airline will get overwhelmed with cancellation and refund requests. These delays can be extended for months or even years. Your delays appear to have been caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

Is there a way to expedite a refund? Yes. You can reach out to the executive contacts at Royal Jordanian Airlines or Booking.com . (I publish both on my consumer advocacy site, Elliott.org .) The Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority has consumer protection provisions that are similar to Europe’s, but I could find no requirement stating that the airline needs to issue a refund within a certain amount of time. In other words, it’s up to you to keep the pressure on the airline and its travel agent, Booking.com .

Even with a deluge of cancellations, Royal Jordanian should have been able to process your refund within 11 weeks. And even if it didn’t, you were doing business with Booking.com , so it should have stepped up and returned your money.

My advocacy team contacted Booking.com on your behalf. A representative got back to me and said that it had processed a refund. “The funds should appear in the customer’s account within three to five business days,” she added. And sure enough, they did.
