Answered: How Much Does a Carnival Cruise Cost?

When it comes to cruising, Carnival Cruise Line is among the lowest-priced options in the industry. Whether you’re wanting a quick getaway or you want to go on a longer trip, you’ll find that the cruise line has some of the best fares you’ll find.

Carnival ship sailing from Miami

So how much does a Carnival cruise cost? What you’ll pay will vary widely depending on the specifics of your cruise. Cruise for a week on the newest ship in the fleet? Obviously, you should expect to pay more than a quick 3-day getaway on an older ship.

Even so, we have some data on what you can expect to pay no matter which cruise you select to give you a better idea of what you’ll pay to sail with Carnival.

What Goes Into the Cost to Cruise With Carnival

Before we get into the actual prices that you will pay, it’s helpful to understand what goes into the price of your cruise. These factors can drastically alter what you pay by hundreds of even thousands of dollars.

Of course, the type of cabin that you sail on Carnival will have a big impact on what you pay. Interior cabins — which sit on the inside of the ship and have no windows — are the least expensive rooms that you will find. From there, the prices rise for oceanview, balcony rooms, and suites. So you can pay thousands more for the exact same cruise if you sail in the nicest rooms compared to the least expensive.

But Carnival has more than four different room options. Newer ships have a number of special cabin types like Cloud 9 cabins (near the spa) and Havana staterooms. These rooms will have special décor and features like access to exclusive areas such as private pools. They will also carry a higher price tag.

Just like cabins, cruise ships will also see different costs. As a rule of thumb, the newer the ship, the higher the price you can expect to pay. However, that doesn’t mean every trip aboard that newer ship will be more expensive than every trip on an older one.

Still, in general, if you’re wanting to sail on the newest ships that also have the most to do, then expect to pay a bit more.

For example, take a July 2023 cruise aboard Carnival Celebration (the line’s newest ship) from Miami. Here, the cruise fare for a six-day trip in an interior cabin runs $759 per person.

A trip 6-day trip aboard Carnival Horizon (a ship built in 2017), leaving the same time of year from the exact same port costs $679 per person for an interior cabin — or about $80 less.

Time of Year

Finally, the last major factor in what you’ll pay to cruise on Carnival is the time of year you sail. The same trip departing at different points of the year will have drastically different prices.

The easy rule of thumb is that Carnival’s prices are cheaper when school is in session and more expensive during breaks in the school year. As a family-oriented cruise line, more demand when school is out means higher prices.

Let’s take that same trip aboard Carnival Celebration that departs for six days. If you sail in July, then the cost for an interior cabin starts at $759 per person. But the exact same itinerary costs just $449 per person if sailing in September. That’s $310 per person less.

Other Costs to Consider

7 day cruise carnival

While the cost of your cruise will vary widely based on the ship, time of year, and the cabin you choose, there are also some more costs that you should keep in mind. These costs won’t vary as much from cruise to cruise, but they still impact your bottom line.

Port Fees/Taxes

One considerable expense on your cruise will be the fees and taxes that are tacked onto the cruise fare. These will vary based on the cost of your trip and also the ports you sail from and visit. However, for most cruises they run between $100-$200 per person. Unfortunately, there isn’t any way that you can avoid these fees; they are added in with your cruise fare that you pay.

Onboard Spending

One area that you do have a lot of power over what you spend is with onboard spending. This category includes everything from drinks onboard to casino gambling to spa services and more. Technically you could sail the entire cruise and not spend a dime on the ship, but that’s not realistic for most people. Still, what’s spent on the ship will vary widely from person to person. On average, Carnival Corporation (the parent of Carnival Cruise Line, Princess and others) reports that a passenger spends about $100 per person, per day on their ships.

In cruising, gratuities are a fact of life. Yes, technically they are optional in that you can go down to Guest Services and have them removed from you account if there is a problem with service. However, for the vast majority of people, the gratuity charges — which go to people like the waitstaff and your room steward — are just a fact of life. Carnival charges $14.50 per person per day for gratuities on its trips ($16.50 per person per day for suites).

Getting to Port

Finally, don’t forget to factor in the cost it takes to get to port to set sail on your cruise. If you are flying in, then you’ll have to purchase airfare, plus a hotel if flying in the night before. As well, don’t forget to factor in transportation to the cruise port. Driving in for your cruise? It’s definitely more convenient, but don’t forget that you’ll have to pay for parking while you’re gone.

With all these items in mind, what can you expect to pay to sail on Carnival? We have a cost breakdown below…

What You Can Expect to Pay to Sail Carnival

As mentioned, your cost to sail on Carnival (or any cruise line) can vary widely based on your trip specifics. That’s why we’ve broken down the cost to sail on Carnival into three different categories — a budget cruise, an average cruise, and a high-end trip. This will give you a better idea of what you’ll pay based on your specifics.

Cost of a Budget Cruise on Carnival

For a budget cruise, we assume you are taking a cruise during the off-season for 3-5 days and staying in an interior cabin on an older ship. This gets you on the ship and having a fun vacation for a more affordable price than what many will spend.

One example cruise we found a 4-day cruise aboard Carnival Radiance , departing Long Beach in late February . It offers the following pricing for an interior cabin and is a good representation of what you can expect when looking for an inexpensive cruise aboard Carnival:

Keep in mind this estimate doesn’t include your transportation to the port. But it gives you a good idea of what you’d spend to cruise on a budget. Here, the cost works out to about $140 per person, per day with all the costs included.

Cost of an Average Cruise on Carnival

While there is no such thing as an “average” cruise given all the variables, for this mid-tier vacation, we’re assuming a 7-day trip in a balcony cabin aboard a newer (but not the newest) ship in the fleet during the summer. As well, we assume that you spend a little more on board than someone would on a budget vacation.

The pricing below is for a 7-day cruise aboard Carnival Vista in a balcony cabin , sailing from Galveston in April .

Here with the upgrade to the balcony cabin, a longer cruise, and a newer ship, you can see that the cost of the cruise jumps considerably. But one thing to keep in mind is that a large portion of this estimate is onboard spending where you have the most control over what you’ll spend.

Cost of a High-End Cruise on Carnival

Finally, let’s consider what you’d pay for a high-end cruise on Carnival. Here, we are assuming a passenger staying in a suite aboard the newest ship and sailing at the peak of the summer season. As well, we assume a higher level of onboard spending on things like drinks, specialty restaurants and the spa.

The pricing below is for a 7-day cruise aboard Carnival Celebration in a suite cabin , leaving in July from Miami .

Here, the price jumps considerably with a new ship, higher-tier cabin, and sailing in the peak of the summer season. For that more luxurious experience, you end up paying about $425 per person, per day.

How Much Does a Carnival Cruise Cost?

As you can see, there is no set cost on what you can pay to cruise. Want to cruise for cheap and only spend a few hundred per person? That’s possible. Want to go all out, stay in the nicest cabins on the newest ships? It will cost considerably more.

In general, however, we think you’re best off estimating around $200-$300 per person, per day for a cruise on Carnival when all expenses are factored in.

In fact, in public investment filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Carnival Corporation (which encompasses Carnival and other cruise lines) shows an average cruise fare per day of around $150 per person and average onboard spending of around $100 per day — for a total of roughly $250 per day.

But it should be clear that what you pay can vary widely around that average depending on the sort of cruise you want to take.

What about sales on Carnival?

Head to the Carnival website, and you’ll no doubt see that they are running a special sale. That’s because these sales go year-round. And while they might be tweaked occasionally, it usually doesn’t lead to big swings in the price for the cruise. So it’s unlikely that you’ll look one day and see a price that’s drastically less (or more) than the day before.

That said, yes, occasionally there are special offers or prices — especially if you’re a VIFP member (Carnival’s loyalty program) with high status. But in general, we suggest not letting sale offers dictate when you decide to buy.

What about the cost of third or fourth passengers?

Sailing with a family? Then the pricing gets a little different. Above, we’ve accounted for two passengers in the cabin. In that case, both passengers pay the same cruise fare. Add a third or fourth person to the room and it’s slightly different.

In this case, the fare for the third person is drastically reduced — sometimes up to 70-80% the fare paid by the first two passengers. Still, they will have to pay the full share of port fees and gratuities.

Even so, sailing with a third or fourth passengers is among the best deals in travel.

Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or a first-timer, knowing what to pack is essential to make the most out of your trip. From clothing to toiletries, medications to travel documents, there are a multitude of items to consider bringing along. In this article, we will guide you through the packing process and provide you with essential tips on what to pack for your 7-day Carnival Cruise.

Before you start packing, it’s important to check the weather forecast for your destination and plan accordingly. Consider the climate and activities you’ll be engaging in during your cruise. From beach days to formal nights, you’ll need a variety of clothing and accessories to suit different occasions. Comfort is key, so pack versatile items that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits.

Next, let’s dive into the different categories of items you’ll need to pack. We’ll cover clothing, shoes and accessories, toiletries and personal care items, medications and first aid, entertainment and electronics, travel documents and money, and miscellaneous items. By the end of this article, you’ll have a comprehensive packing list that ensures you’re prepared for a memorable 7-day Carnival Cruise.

When it comes to clothing for your 7-day Carnival Cruise, it’s essential to pack a mix of casual and formal attire to suit different occasions. Here’s a breakdown of the clothing items you should include:

  • Swimwear: Pack a few swimsuits so you can enjoy the ship’s pools and visit beautiful beaches at the ports of call. Don’t forget to bring a cover-up or sarong.
  • Casual wear: Pack comfortable clothes such as shorts, lightweight pants, t-shirts, tank tops, and sundresses for exploring the ship and enjoying casual activities.
  • Formal wear: Most Carnival Cruises host formal nights where you can dress up for special events and dinners. Bring formal attire such as dresses, suits, or dress shirts and slacks.
  • Layering pieces: It’s a good idea to pack a few light layers such as cardigans or jackets to accommodate varying temperatures on the ship and during shore excursions.
  • Active wear: If you plan to participate in fitness activities or sports on the ship, pack comfortable workout clothes, athletic shoes, and swimwear for water-based activities like snorkeling.
  • Shoes: Bring comfortable walking shoes or sandals for exploring ports of call, as well as dress shoes for formal events and evenings.

Remember to pack extra undergarments, socks, and sleepwear as well. Keep in mind that laundry facilities are available on most Carnival Cruises, so you can pack fewer items and do laundry if needed. Additionally, consider the length of your cruise and pack enough clothing for each day, including any extra outfits you may need for specific activities.

Lastly, don’t forget to check the dress code guidelines provided by Carnival Cruises for any specific requirements or restrictions on clothing. By packing a well-rounded selection of clothing, you’ll be prepared for any occasion during your 7-day Carnival Cruise.

Shoes and Accessories

When it comes to shoes and accessories for your 7-day Carnival Cruise, it’s important to strike a balance between style and comfort. Here are the essential items to include:

  • Comfortable walking shoes: Pack a pair of comfortable walking shoes for exploring the ship and walking during shore excursions.
  • Flip flops or sandals: These are perfect for lounging by the pool, visiting the spa, or heading to the beach.
  • Dress shoes: It’s essential to pack dress shoes for formal events and evenings on the ship.
  • Sneakers or athletic shoes: If you plan to participate in sports or fitness activities on the ship, bring a pair of sneakers or athletic shoes.
  • Hat or cap: Protect yourself from the sun by packing a hat or cap.
  • Sunglasses: Don’t forget to bring sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun’s rays while lounging on the deck or exploring port cities.
  • Jewelry: Pack a few versatile pieces of jewelry to add some flair to your outfits.
  • Watch: A watch is handy for keeping track of time, especially when disembarking at different ports of call.
  • Evening bag: A small clutch or evening bag is perfect for carrying essentials during formal nights or special events.

Remember to consider the activities you’ll be participating in and the destinations you’ll be visiting when selecting your accessories. Choose items that are versatile enough to complement different outfits and comfortable enough to wear for extended periods. Packing the right combination of shoes and accessories will ensure you’re both stylish and prepared for your 7-day Carnival Cruise adventure.

Toiletries and Personal Care Items

When it comes to toiletries and personal care items, it’s important to pack the essentials while keeping in mind any restrictions or regulations set by the cruise line. Here’s a list of items to consider including:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste: Don’t forget the basics for maintaining oral hygiene.
  • Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash: Most cruise ships provide these items, but if you have specific preferences, pack travel-sized bottles.
  • Facial cleanser and moisturizer: Take care of your skin by packing your favorite facial cleanser and moisturizer.
  • Deodorant: Keep fresh throughout your cruise by packing your preferred deodorant.
  • Hairbrush or comb: Tame your locks by packing a hairbrush or comb.
  • Hair styling tools: If you rely on a hairdryer, straightener, or curling iron, check if your cruise ship provides them. If not, pack them accordingly.
  • Razors and shaving cream: If you prefer a close shave, make sure to pack razors and shaving cream.
  • Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun’s rays by packing sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • Medicated skin care: If you have any specific skin care needs, such as acne medication or eczema creams, pack them accordingly.
  • Feminine hygiene products: If needed, pack an ample supply of feminine hygiene products.
  • Prescription medication: If you take any prescription medications, ensure you have enough for the duration of the cruise and bring them in their original containers.

Remember, most cruise ships have limited storage space in cabins, so opt for travel-sized containers or purchase travel-sized products to maximize space. Additionally, consider any customs regulations related to specific personal care items, especially if you’re visiting international ports of call.

By packing the essential toiletries and personal care items, you’ll ensure you’re prepared for a comfortable and enjoyable 7-day Carnival Cruise experience.

Medications and First Aid

When it comes to medications and first aid, it’s crucial to be prepared for any potential health issues that may arise during your 7-day Carnival Cruise. Here’s what you should pack:

  • Prescription medications: If you take any prescribed medications, ensure you have enough for the duration of the cruise and bring them in their original containers.
  • Over-the-counter medications: It’s a good idea to pack a small supply of common over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers, antacids, motion sickness medication, and any personal medications you may need.
  • First aid kit: Bring a basic first aid kit that includes adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, tweezers, and any essential medical supplies you may require.
  • Prescription glasses or contacts: If you wear prescription glasses or contacts, don’t forget to pack them, along with any necessary cleaning solutions.
  • Medical insurance information: Keep a copy of your medical insurance information or any relevant health-related documentation in case of emergencies.

It’s important to note that while cruise ships have medical facilities and doctors on board, it’s vital to have your medications and necessary medical supplies readily available. Also, consult with your healthcare provider before the cruise to ensure you have all the necessary medications and to address any specific medical concerns.

By being proactive and packing the right medications and first aid supplies, you’ll have peace of mind and be prepared in the event of any health-related issues during your 7-day Carnival Cruise.

Entertainment and Electronics

When it comes to entertainment and electronics, having the right devices and accessories can help enhance your overall experience during your 7-day Carnival Cruise. Here are the items to consider packing:

  • Smartphone or tablet: These devices can serve multiple purposes, including communication, taking photos, accessing entertainment apps, and staying connected with loved ones back home.
  • Chargers and adapters: Ensure you have the necessary chargers and adapters for your electronic devices.
  • Power bank: A power bank can come in handy for charging your devices on-the-go, especially during shore excursions.
  • E-reader or books: If you’re an avid reader, consider bringing an e-reader or books to enjoy during your leisure time on the cruise.
  • Headphones or earphones: Pack a pair of headphones or earphones to enjoy music, podcasts, or movies without disturbing others.
  • Camera: Capture memorable moments by packing a camera or a high-quality smartphone with a good camera.
  • Portable speakers: If you enjoy listening to music in your cabin or while lounging by the pool, consider packing portable speakers.
  • Travel journal or notebook: Document your cruise experience or jot down important information in a travel journal or notebook.
  • Playing cards or games: Pack a deck of playing cards or small travel-sized games for entertainment during downtime.

While Carnival Cruise ships offer a range of entertainment options, it’s always nice to have your own devices for additional entertainment and personal enjoyment. However, it’s important to strike a balance and not rely solely on electronics, as cruises provide ample opportunities for socializing and immersing in the onboard activities.

By packing the right entertainment and electronic items, you’ll be well-equipped to relax, capture memories, and enjoy your 7-day Carnival Cruise to the fullest.

Travel Documents and Money

When preparing for your 7-day Carnival Cruise, it’s crucial to ensure you have all the necessary travel documents and money to ensure a smooth journey. Here’s a checklist of what you’ll need to bring:

  • Passport or ID: Check the passport requirements for your destination and make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your cruise dates. If traveling within your country, bring a valid ID.
  • Cruise booking confirmations: Print out or have electronic copies of your cruise booking confirmations, including any pre-booked excursions or activities.
  • Visas: Depending on your destination, you may need a visa. Check the visa requirements and arrange them well in advance of your cruise.
  • Health insurance card: Bring a copy of your health insurance card or any necessary medical information in case of emergencies.
  • Credit cards and cash: Bring a mix of credit cards and cash for onboard purchases, tips, and any expenses during shore excursions or at port cities.
  • Travel insurance: Consider purchasing travel insurance to protect yourself against unforeseen events or emergencies.
  • Driver’s license or international driving permit: If you plan to rent a car or participate in land-based activities that require driving, bring your driver’s license or an international driving permit.
  • Contact information: Keep a list of emergency contact numbers, including the cruise line’s customer service and any important phone numbers for your destination.

Organize these documents in a secure folder or travel wallet to keep them easily accessible and safe throughout your trip. It’s also a good idea to make digital copies of all important documents and store them securely online or on a cloud-based storage platform as a backup.

Finally, familiarize yourself with any customs regulations regarding cash limits or currency exchange. It’s always useful to carry some local currency for small expenses or markets at port cities, but make sure to keep your belongings secure at all times.

By having your travel documents in order and ample money for expenses, you’ll be well-prepared for a hassle-free 7-day Carnival Cruise adventure.

Miscellaneous Items

When packing for your 7-day Carnival Cruise, don’t forget to include these miscellaneous items that can enhance your overall experience:

  • Reusable water bottle: Staying hydrated is essential, so don’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle to refill and carry with you throughout the ship and during shore excursions.
  • Snacks: Pack some of your favorite snacks to enjoy during the cruise, especially for days spent exploring port cities or as a late-night treat in your cabin.
  • Travel-sized laundry detergent: If you plan on doing laundry during the cruise, bring a travel-sized laundry detergent for convenience.
  • Binoculars: Binoculars can be handy for wildlife spotting and enjoying the scenic views during the cruise.
  • Travel adapter: Depending on your destination, you may need a travel adapter to charge your devices or use electrical appliances.
  • Ziplock bags: Pack a few resealable bags for organizing small items, storing wet clothes, or protecting important documents from water damage.
  • Small umbrella or rain jacket: Be prepared for unexpected rain showers during shore excursions or while exploring port cities.
  • Travel-sized sewing kit: Pack a small sewing kit with basic supplies in case of any wardrobe mishaps or minor repairs.
  • Travel pillow and blanket: A travel pillow and blanket can make your journey more comfortable, especially during long flights or bus rides to the cruise port.
  • Portable phone charger: A portable phone charger can be a lifesaver when your device is running low on battery during shore excursions.

While these items might seem small or insignificant, they can greatly enhance your comfort and convenience during the cruise. Packing these miscellaneous items ensures you’re prepared for various scenarios and unexpected situations that may arise.

Remember, it’s always a good idea to review any specific guidelines or restrictions provided by Carnival Cruises regarding the items allowed onboard. By including these miscellaneous items in your packing list, you’ll be ready for any adventure that comes your way during your 7-day Carnival Cruise.

As you prepare for your 7-day Carnival Cruise, packing the right items can greatly enhance your experience and ensure a stress-free journey. By considering the clothing, shoes, toiletries, medications, entertainment and electronics, travel documents and money, and miscellaneous items we’ve discussed in this article, you’ll be well-prepared for a memorable vacation.

Remember to pack a mix of casual and formal clothing, along with comfortable shoes and accessories to suit different occasions and activities. Don’t forget to bring essential toiletries, medications, and a first aid kit to stay healthy during your cruise.

Additionally, pack electronic devices and entertainment options to keep yourself entertained while onboard. Ensure you have all necessary travel documents and sufficient money for expenses. Finally, don’t forget about miscellaneous items like reusable water bottles, snacks, and travel adapters that can add convenience and comfort to your trip.

By having a comprehensive packing list and being well-prepared, you can embark on your 7-day Carnival Cruise with peace of mind and enjoy every moment of your adventure. Bon voyage!

Carnival Radiance

Carnival Radiance (previously Carnival Victory) set sail in December 2021 after a full transformation. The ship, which holds 2,984 guests and 1,108 crew members, boasts plenty of fun indoors and outdoors for cruisers of all ages.

Carnival Radiance features a ropes course, waterslides, a mini-golf course, dive-in movies in the evening and a sports area for activities like soccer, basketball, volleyball and boxing. The ship also offers a kids club for youths ages 2 to 17. The pool is surrounded by lounge chairs – perfect for relaxing – and those seeking additional quiet space can spend some time at the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat. Inside, the spa, the piano bar, the comedy club and the performance event venue, which features musicals, concerts and more, round out some of Carnival Radiance's most popular offerings. Dining options (14 eateries in total, including a Chef's Table experience) abound on this ship as well: Cruisers can enjoy casual fare at Big Chicken or Guy's Burger Joint, or sit down for a more upscale meal at Cucina del Capitano, Bonsai Sushi or the Steakhouse.

Staterooms aboard the ship include Interior (porthole and picture window choices are available), Ocean View, Balcony and Suite category options. Carnival Radiance sets sail from Los Angeles to destinations in Hawaii and Mexico .

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Panorama

A member of Carnival Cruise Line's Vista class, the Carnival Panorama debuted in December 2019 as the first new Carnival ship homeported on the West Coast in 20 years. With a capacity of 4,008 guests and 1,450 crew, Panorama is one of Carnival's largest ships.

Among the ship's standout amenities is the Sky Zone – a trampoline park that offers dodgeball and basketball games, toddler bounce sessions and more. Other unique Carnival amenities found on the ship include a suspended bicycle in the air called SkyRide, a sprawling water park, the Cloud 9 Spa and an open-air recreation area and ropes course.

Dining options on board are just as diverse. In fact, there are more than a dozen dining venues aboard Carnival Panorama, including multiple Guy Fieri eateries, a sushi restaurant, a steakhouse, a seafood eatery and more.

Carnival Panorama offers the line's typical range of accommodation classes (Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite) along with Family Harbor and Havana staterooms and suites. Havana Cabana Suites feature rain showers and patios equipped with hammock chairs, along with exclusive access to the Havana Bar & Pool. Meanwhile, Family Harbor accommodations are located next to the ship's Family Harbor Lounge and afford guests special perks, such as a free evening of babysitting and complimentary kids meals in the onboard specialty restaurants.

Sailing from Los Angeles , the ship cruises to destinations in Mexico, including Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas . It also departs from Singapore for transpacific voyages.

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Mardi Gras

There's a good reason why Carnival named one of its newest ships Mardi Gras. The ship – which launched in July 2021 – is not only named after the first Carnival ship that entered service in 1972, but also features amenities and activities that keep guests entertained and the atmosphere energized. Carnival designed the ship with six different zones, each with a unique flair. Kids can play all day in the Ultimate Playground, which features WaterWorks (the onboard water park), SkyCourse (a ropes course) and Bolt: Ultimate Sea Coaster, an onboard roller coaster that travels up to 40 mph. Meanwhile, adults can take advantage of Lido, where the RedFrog Tiki Bar flanks one of the ship's pools. Additional activities include a comedy club, a casino, Family Feud Live (yes – it looks like the famous show's set) and a spa.

As you might expect from its large-scale amenities, Mardi Gras is sizeable: It accommodates up to 6,465 passengers and 1,745 crew members. To keep up with demand, the ship offers close to 20 different dining venues serving everything from sushi to burgers to fried chicken. When travelers need refreshments or a nightcap, they can visit one of seven bars and lounges.

Following a full day of fun, cruisers will need a quiet retreat to rest their heads. Staterooms feature Carnival Comfort Collection linens, TVs and a dedicated room steward. Upgraded rooms may include perks like exclusive access to ship amenities, bottles of water, in-room coffee makers and priority check-in and disembarkation. Rooms range in size from 158 square feet for interior staterooms to the massive 1,120-square-foot Carnival Excel Presidential Suite.

Catch Mardi Gras in Caribbean locales like San Juan, Puerto Rico ; Cozumel and Grand Turk .

U.S. News Insider Tip: To dine at Bonsai Teppanyaki (available on Celebration , Horizon , Panorama , Venezia and Mardi Gras), make your reservation as soon as possible. The restaurant only seats 16 people at a time, so reservations go fast. –  Karon Warren , Contributor

Carnival Celebration

Carnival Celebration debuted in early November 2022 and boasts a Las Vegas -style theater, a casino, an arcade, a saltwater pool and a top-of-the-line rooftop rollercoaster – the first one of its kind at sea. Complete with six separate zones to explore, including a summer-themed zone and a playground-themed zone, the 1,130-foot-long cruise ship has something for everyone. Celebration can hold up to 5,374 passengers and 1,735 crew members, and it features more than 20 dining venues, including a barbecue smokehouse and a full-service sushi restaurant.

Staterooms are comfortable with plush bedding, vanity mirrors and built-in reading lights, but for additional perks, guests can opt for a room with a balcony or ocean views. If you don't mind splurging a little, the Carnival Excel Suite offers upgrades like concierge service and complimentary admission to Loft 19, the ship's exclusive lounge fitted with infinity whirlpools and shaded cabanas.

Carnival Celebration explores an array of picturesque destinations, including Cozumel, Mexico ; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Maarten and more. It sails out of Miami .

At night, the whole family can enjoy live performances.

Onboard dining options are also plentiful, with 11 eateries that serve everything from steaks to Italian classics to burgers. Carnival Horizon was the first in Carnival's fleet to offer a teppanyaki-style restaurant and Guy Fieri's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse and Brewhouse.

The ship has a variety of cabins for passengers to choose from, ranging from budget-friendly Interior staterooms to specialty suites with spa, nautical and Havana themes. Each comes with modern conveniences like a minibar, a flat-screen TV and a Carnival Comfort bed.

Carnival Horizon departs from  Miami  for voyages throughout the Caribbean.

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Miracle

Like other Carnival ships, the 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle boasts activities and entertainment geared toward travelers of all ages. Thanks to a renovation in 2020, the ship features upgrades like Guy's Burger Joint, WaterWorks, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Cantina and more. The ship also received a minor refresh to interior and exterior spaces in 2022.

Even with the added venues, a nearly 2-to-1 guest-to-crew ratio ensures service is a priority. And compared to other Carnival ships, Miracle offers a higher percentage of cabins with ocean views. While Interior staterooms provide more wallet-friendly digs, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite category cabins offer more space and scenery. All cabins come equipped with flat-screen TVs and 24-hour room service.

During days at sea, grown-ups can enjoy poolside lounging or the adults-only Serenity Retreat, while kids ages 2 to 17 can play at age-specific programs.  There are also entertainment options like the Punchliner Comedy Club, the SkyBox Sports Bar and the Seuss at Sea program. Once the family works up an appetite, they'll have their pick of the main dining room, the Lido buffet, a specialty steakhouse (for an extra fee) and more.

Carnival Miracle departs from Galveston, Texas ;  Los Angeles  and  San Francisco  to destinations in the Caribbean, the Panama Canal,  Hawaii , Mexico , and Alaska .

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Luminosa

Formerly a Costa Cruises  ship, Luminosa joined the Carnival fleet in November 2022. This 2,260-passenger, 926-crew member cruise ship includes highlights such as a casino, a spa, an adults-only retreat and a comedy club.

There are plenty of ways to occupy your time on board, from deck parties and art seminars to karaoke and martini tastings. Plus, Luminosa offers a slew of amenities geared toward kids, including story time, supervised camps, a video arcade and a teens-only hangout space. When hunger strikes, this Carnival cruise ship offers around 10 eateries serving staples like sushi, steak and pizza.

Interior staterooms come equipped with a flat-screen TV, climate control, an in-room safe and a dedicated stateroom attendant. If you'd prefer accommodations with windows, consider upgrading to an ocean-view room or a cabin with a balcony. Guests seeking even more luxury can opt for a suite, which features exclusive perks like priority check-in; boarding and dining assignments; bathrobes and a pillow-top mattress. Cruisers looking for extra relaxation should consider a Cloud 9 Spa stateroom or suite, which includes a welcome ritual, two complimentary fitness classes, unlimited use of the thermal suites and hydrotherapy pool, priority spa reservations and more.

Carnival Luminosa departs from Seattle, Washington , and the Australian cities of Brisbane and Sydney . It sails to destinations in Alaska and the South Pacific, among others.

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Breeze

The 3,690-passenger Carnival Breeze was introduced in 2012 and last updated in 2017. On board, cruisers will find outdoor activities like a water park and a SportsSquare with games like mini-golf, as well as supervised (and free) age-appropriate programs for kids and teens. While the younger passengers play, adults can relax at the adults-only Serenity retreat, get treatments at the Cloud 9 Spa and sip cocktails at one of the ship's bars.

As far as dining goes, cruisers can choose between several food options, including sushi, Indian, 24/7 pizza and more. Guy's Burger Joint and Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, in partnership with celebrity chef Guy Fieri, are passenger favorites. Nighttime entertainment ranges from karaoke to shows at the Punchliner Comedy Club.

Carnival Breeze offers a variety of cabin categories, all of which include flat-screen TVs and 24-hour room service. The ship maintains a nearly 1-to-3 crew-to-guest ratio. While some recent cruisers appreciated the family atmosphere, others were disappointed by long lines and wait times during dinner service.

Carnival Breeze cruises to the Caribbean from Galveston, Texas .

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Conquest

Last revamped in 2022, Carnival Conquest features cosmetic enhancements to select staterooms, as well as upgrades like new carpeting and lighting in public areas. Still, some felt Conquest showed its age despite these upgrades and could use a more major refurbishment. The ship appeals to a wide range of travelers and budgets, with amenities like Seuss at Sea, The Punchliner Comedy Club and the Alchemy Bar. It also includes "Fun Ship 2.0" features like Guy's Burger Joint and an outdoor movie theater, as well as signature bars BlueIguana Tequila Bar and RedFrog Rum Bar.

The ship carries 2,980 passengers and 1,150 crew members. Accommodations, ranging from Interior staterooms to Grand Suites, offer standard amenities such as flat-screen TVs and 24-hour room service. Those looking for more space should consider splurging on a Suite category room, which includes a large balcony, a walk-in closet and a whirlpool tub.

Along with signature line amenities, including a full-service spa, a casino and an expansive pool deck, the ship provides supervised programs and entertainment for cruisers ages 2 to 17, with various activities geared toward specific age groups.

Conquest departs from Miami  for sailings in the Bahamas , the Caribbean and the Panama Canal.

7 day cruise carnival

Carnival Vista

Introduced in mid-2016, Carnival Vista welcomes up to 3,934 passengers and 1,450 crew members. The ship offers unique dining, entertainment and cabin options not found on other ships in the fleet. In addition to staples like kids clubs, an adults-only retreat and a waterpark, new activities include the SkyRide suspended bike course, the first IMAX theater at sea and a Dr. Seuss-inspired library. The ship's next refurbishment is scheduled for early 2024.

Recent passengers were most impressed with the accommodations. Typical cabin categories (Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite) are available, but cruisers recommend splurging on the Family Harbor or Havana staterooms and suites. Those who select Family Harbor cabins receive exclusive 24-hour lounge access with free breakfast and kid-friendly movies and games. Plus, children staying in these rooms enjoy free meals at most specialty restaurants and a free night of babysitting. Havana category rooms cater to adults, with access to a private bar and pool, as well as extra-large outdoor spaces and rainfall showers in suites.

Dining options are just as diverse. While the Lido buffet offers everything from pasta to stir-fry to salad, other complimentary venues include BlueIguana Cantina and Guy's Burger Joint. A number of specialty restaurants are also available for an extra fee, such as JiJi Asian Kitchen and Cucina del Capitano.

Carnival Vista departs from Galveston  and Orlando for sailings in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Carnival Dinner Menus, Updated November 2022

These Carnival 7-day dinner menus reflect a few very minor changes since the prior versions (which I posted HERE in May). Coffee and tea pricing has increased and you’ll notice “Cucina del Capitano,” next to items featured from Carnival’s Italian specialty restaurant. The menu featuring lobster tails has also been moved to the second elegant night. Many of us are eager for a complete overhaul to the dinner menus – no word yet on when that’s coming. I’ll keep you posted!

I haven’t cruised Carnival since 2019 so I only had the old old brunch menu but Tomato soup was amazing so I’d gladly give up all those other things I never tried to have the tomato soup back

' src=

I love the tomato soup too. So tasty!

Hello, what is the menu for 3-day cruise?

I don’t have the current 3-day lineup. If I can get them, I’ll post. Hopefully someone else has them too and can help out.

A whole bunch of items have *. Is this an extra charge or a sauce choice? Also Steakhouse Selection items- are those at the fancier steakhouse only or also in the dining room for additional charge?

Hi there! The * is next to items that require the standard public health warning about raw or undercooked meats. The steakhouse selections are available in the dining room for an additional charge. Happy cruising!

Is the 10 day menu just the 7 day plus days 1-3 again?

No, they will be different menus.

Good morning. Is there a way to download the 8-day menu??

The 8 day menu can be found here: https://profcruise.com/carnival-8-day-dinner-menus-updated/

To download it, select “print” on your browser. When the printing options box comes up, select “save as PDF” instead of a printer. This will download it as a PDF. Hope that helps! Happy cruising!

7 day cruise carnival

If you aren't careful, your Carnival cruise could quickly become as expensive as an Oceania one.

Peruse any of the "US' most budget-friendly cruise lines" lists, and you're sure to find Carnival somewhere near the top. In 2024, its most affordable itinerary is $164 per person for a four-night sailing from Miami — more than $20 cheaper than Royal Caribbean and Norwegian's least expensive ones.

That's about $40 a day for food, accommodations, onboard entertainment, and the ability to see several destinations in one vacation.

Sounds like a steal, right?

7 day cruise carnival

Well, not quite.

You'll be met with a flurry of tempting up-charged amenities the moment you board Carnival's ships . So, if you're prone to giving into these little luxuries, you can kiss your budget goodbye.

I went on my first Carnival cruise in mid-May: a four-night sailing from Long Beach, California, on Carnival Firenze.

7 day cruise carnival

I paid $735 for a solo interior cabin, including optional gratuities.

If that sounds relatively expensive, you'd be right. Carnival Firenze is the company's latest vessel, and newer cruise ships generally command a pricing premium.

It's also worth noting that I had booked it less than 10 days before embarkation. Oops.

I thought I knew what to expect when it came to the cruise industry's 'pay-to-play' game.

7 day cruise carnival

Mass-market cruise lines have been increasingly slapping fees on on-board amenities and activities. I knew excesses like alcohol, WiFi, and specialty dining would cost extra, as is typical across the industry.

The only one I fell for was WiFi, of which the premium package cost me $85 for all four nights. I was there for work, after all.

7 day cruise carnival

Cocktails were generally about $13, while beers and seltzers were about $9 each. Specialty restaurants like teppanyaki and Italian cost about $40 per person, while the steakhouse was $49.

None of these were surprising. Even premium cruise lines charge extra for higher-end restaurants and beverages.

But on Carnival, it felt like almost everything beyond the bare minimum carried an additional fee.

7 day cruise carnival

Even complimentary dining venues dangled tempting dollar sign-afflicted dishes — including the buffet, where guests had to pay for chicken wings.

Want an empanada? The Empanadas and Pie kiosk sold them for $1.50 apiece.

7 day cruise carnival

Craving a lobster roll? The dinnertime Seafood Shack booth (which otherwise has free breakfast and lunch options) sells one for $18.

Looking for some pizza? You could grab a free pepperoni slice at the pizza stand — or pay $6 for the fancier Korean barbecue steak pie.

That darn dollar sign symbol tormented me morning to night, on and off the ship.

7 day cruise carnival

I had been craving a juice for breakfast. Too bad it was $5 (in the complimentary main dining room, no less).

I would've loved some popcorn during the evening movie showings. A bag costs $4.

During our second stop in Ensenada, Mexico, I briefly considered taking the shuttle from the port to downtown. However, that would've been another $4.

But the most egregious 'incident' came during afternoon tea.

7 day cruise carnival

The daily schedule denoted pay-to-play events with a small dollar sign symbol. "Tea Time" didn't have one, so off I scurried, excited for some free mid-afternoon caffeine and sweet treats.

You can probably guess where this story is headed.

After I took my seat, a waitperson arrived at my table with an organized box of tea bags, giving me just enough time to review my options before announcing they were $1.50 each. On principle, I declined.

A few minutes later, he returned to my table to let me know that he did, in fact, have some free options stashed behind the up-charged bags. They were the same as those available in the buffet: Lipton and Bigelow's green tea.

During breakfast, one of the servers joked that my croissant and Lipton tea would cost $20 each.

7 day cruise carnival

I knew he was kidding, but for a split second, I was worried he wasn't. At that point, I expected almost everything I wanted to come with a price tag.

Carnival, I get it. Get that bag, sis!

7 day cruise carnival

But not being immediately upfront about the $1.50 tea bag and otherwise free options felt unecessarily deceitful.

In the company's defense, not everything had a price tag. Fun activities like the mini-golf course, waterslides, and fear-of-height-inducing ropes course were complimentary and great for forgetting how annoyed I was about "tea gate."

Carnival is just following the industry trend.

7 day cruise carnival

There's a reason onboard spending has skyrocketed over the last year. Mass-market cruise lines have been increasingly adopting a model reminiscent of budget airlines: offer a low base fare and present a slew of irresistible amenities at an additional price.

Competitors like Norwegian and Royal Caribbean are repeat offenders, too.

7 day cruise carnival

On Norwegian Prima , mini-golf costs $10 per person, while the VR arcade sets guests back $29 for one hour.

On Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas , mini-golf is free! But walk slow if you decide to spend money on the ship's part-agility, part-ziplining course. It costs $49 to participate — and could be completed in a minute or so.

So yes, going on an ultra-cheap Carnival cruise is possible if you’re like me, stubbornly unwilling to spend extra.

7 day cruise carnival

But if you're a pushover who easily gives into temptation, be sure to develop a backbone before you cruise with Carnival .

If you don't, mai tais and movie popcorn costs could add up quicker than expected.

P&O Cruises to retire its brand in Australia, fold operations into Carnival Cruise Line

A large white cruise ship is parked at a berth.

P&O Cruises Australia has announced its fleet will soon be sailing to its final berth, ceasing its operations in 2025 after more than 90 years on the water.

The Australian travel brand will fold its operations into parent company Carnival Cruise Line from March 2025.

P&O's Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships and workforce will be rebranded and transferred to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, while the Pacific Explorer, previously known as the Dawn Princess, will be retired.

Passengers set to cruise in 2024 will not be affected, while customers who had cruises booked on the Pacific Explorer after March 2, 2025 will have the option of a refund or credit for Carnival with extra onboard spending money.

It is the end of an era for the popular brand, which first sailed from Sydney on December 23, 1932, on a seven-day itinerary calling at Brisbane and Norfolk Island.

The company's first permanent ship in Australia, the Fairstar — heavily promoted as "the fun ship" — was part of the fleet for nine years until 1997.

P&O Cruises Australia issued its surprise notice to customers on Tuesday.

"As a result, all itineraries on Pacific Explorer scheduled to sail after 2nd March 2025 are being cancelled," it said.

"If you are booked on one of these itineraries you will be contacted by guest services in the coming days with refund details.

"We are all immensely proud of P&O Cruises Australia's 90-year heritage of dedicated operations in the region, and Carnival Cruise Line are honoured to carry forward its storied legacy and continue to deliver the same onboard experiences and itineraries."

Crews on the Pacific Explorer were expected to be redeployed to other ships, but a small number of workers in the P&O Australia head office would lose their jobs, a spokeswoman said.

Acting P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Australia lead Peter Little will be retained under the new title of country manager.

The side of a large white cruise ship with a skyscraper in the background.

Carnival Cruise chief executive Josh Weinstein hailed P&O Cruises as a storied brand with an amazing team and lauded its accomplishments in Australia and the broader region.

"However, given the strategic reality of the South Pacific's small population and significantly higher operating and regulatory costs, we're adjusting our approach," he said.

The Carnival brand will see its fleet boosted by eight ships after also acquiring vessels from sister line Costa Cruises and ordering new ships to come into operation in 2027 and 2028.

Under the changes, Carnival will continue to be the largest cruise operator in the region with 19 ships, representing almost 60 per cent of the market.

The P&O ships will have technology upgrades, including an ordering app and loyalty program, but will retain the "familiar feel and much of the same experiences" for Australian guests, Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said.

Who owns P&O Cruises?

P&O Cruises is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc.

Carnival Corporation & plc owns a number of different brands including Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises.

What does P&O stand for?

The initials P and O stand for "Peninsular and Oriental", an abbreviation of The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company.

Carnival Firenze ™

Long Beach is fun, but it isn't known as a hotspot of Italian culture… yet! In spring 2024, Carnival Firenze will debut, setting sail from this homeport towards south-of-the-border fun along Mexico's Pacific coast! So, Long Beach, you're wondering what to expect from Fun Italian Style ™ ? Grab your movie star sunglasses and throw on a scarf — just for style — as you make your entrance at Piazza Duomo , named for Florence's iconic domed cathedral. To get a taste for onboard flavor and flair, check out spots like the elegant three-course Michelangelo and Medici Restaurants , traditional Italian foods, cocktails and more at Il Viaggio , plus Italian street food spot La Strada Grill ™ . You're even going to find an Italian market, Il Mercato , featuring faves like sauced-up meatballs, sandwiches with inspiration from Italy and beyond, plus sausages and salads. And since we're always authentic… most of the time, you can enjoy the fusion-y goodness of Mexican-Italian Tomodoro ™ plus Guy's Burger Joint , which now features classics and burgers with Italian twists. For refreshment served up in a glass, look to cocktail bar Amari ™ , frozen drinks with a bit of attitude at Rococó ™ , Frizzante ™ with its three specialties (bubbly drinks, snacks and coffee!), plus classic Italian cocktails and martinis with surprising and fashionable twists (and live music too!) at Moda Bar and Lounge ™ . Even more spots for entertainment include the classic-theater vibe of Teatro Rosso featuring Playlist Productions shows, and Tuscan Lounge paying tribute to Florence's iconic home region. Let's not forget Terrazza staterooms — we could never! — which give you a stylish, comfy place to unwind from all the fun… near a private deck featuring exclusive amenities like all-day lounging at Terrazza Moda home to great views, drinks, entertainment, whirlpools and more. While we're excited about the Italian side of this ship, it's not the whole story. Carnival has some true fan-favorites we knew folks would be asking for. ( ) That's why Carnival Firenze also includes familiar flavors like Bonsai Teppanyaki ™ and Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse ™ . Places to celebrate absolutely anything (or just nothing!) include Piano Bar 88 and Serenity Bar , while you can seriously kick back at Cloud 9 Spa ™ and Serenity Adult-Only Retreat ™ . Kids are going to love Camp Ocean ™ , Circle “C” ® and Club O2 ® — each one is perfectly designed for a different age group. And if active/splashy fun is your thing, that's honestly a great thing and we can tell you're going to be spending time at WaterWorks ™ and SportSquare ™ , home to a ropes course, jogging track, mini golf course and outdoor fitness center. Long Beach! Carnival Firenze is sailing now from your sweet shores. Andiamo!
