What people love about amalfi coast tours from rome.
Best decision if you're travelling alone and open to meeting new people. Our tour guide, Giovanni was the best - you can tell he enjoys what he's doing. He was really helpful and inclusive. The Amalfi coast, Sorrento, and Capri was the best part. Opted for the extra package with the Capri chairlift and Sorrento dinner which is so worth it.
Very good trip. Pick ups all on time. Hotel exceptional
I really enjoyed the trip to Italy. I think Joel was a great tour guide and especially with Adam they made a great team! I liked the program and enjoyed meeting all the nice people. The hotels were good, only in Naples the accommodation could have been cleaner.

Tour description
Spend the perfect day on the amalfi coast on a carefully curated tour from rome..
Most Amalfi Coast tours from Rome stick to the roads, seeing the crystal-clear waters of the coastline from above but hardly glimpsing its cliffside towns at all. This tour is different. You’ll take in the breathtaking coast from both land and sea for the most complete experience possible! Touring the Amalfi Coast on the water, you’ll have perfect views of the coastline’s most famous asset: its colorful towns. Along the way, you'll step onto dry land for an authentic limoncello tasting in a pretty orchard with stunning views. You’ll also explore the idyllic streets of both Amalfi Town and Positano with plenty of opportunities to go sightseeing, do a bit of shopping, and maybe even splash in the sea if the mood takes you.
Carefully balancing the value and expertise of a guided tour with free time to explore and shop at your own pace, our full-day Amalfi Coast tour from Rome offers you the perfect day in paradise without the hassle of organizing your own trains, cars, and ferry rides.
Head from Rome to the Amalfi Coast by train with a guide by your side.
Your Amalfi Coast tour from Rome meets early in the morning at Termini train station. Meet your friendly English-speaking guide and set off on a comfortable 90-minute journey by high-speed train. After arriving in Salerno, you’ll board a small ferry and relax as you watch the stunning Amalfi coastline stretch out before you, giving you a panoramic snapshot of the sights to come.
Go boat-hopping and taste homemade limoncello for an authentic Amalfi experience.
Now it’s time for a little touring on foot. Climbing ashore at Amalfi town, you’ll slip away from the crowds as you follow your guide uphill to a beautiful cliffside lemon orchard run by the same family for six generations. You'll walk through groves of fragrant lemon trees on this nature excursion just for your tour group as you learn what makes lemons from the Amalfi coast unique. With the coast and sea spread out below you, you’ll enjoy a demonstration and tasting of one of the region's most beloved products: sweet, tangy limoncello. Made right on the farm, there's nothing better. From there, you'll head back down to the streets of Amalfi with plenty of time to do a little strolling, shopping and snacking.
Putter around the picturesque town of Positano.
After more time spent cruising the water, the next port of call on your Amalfi Coast tour is Positano!
Following an orientation walk with your guide, you’ll have approximately two and a half hours of free time to explore the charming fishing village, a popular haunt among Hollywood’s biggest and brightest. Sample fresh seafood at a beachfront restaurant, shop the stylish boutiques, or simply slip into the sea for a quick splash!
As the afternoon draws to a close, you’ll meet your guide and board the boat one last time for a scenic cruise back to Salerno. Hop on a train for your return to Rome—you'll be back in the Eternal City just in time for dinner!
Please note: In the rare event of rough seas where it is impossible to travel by ferry, we will provide a private bus to take you up and down the coast so you won't miss a thing!
Please note that this description is an example and your experience may vary depending on the season, day of the week, and group size. Regardless of where your tour goes, you always have an excellent experience.

We are so very glad we did this tour! The lemon farm was a unique experience and we loved it. It is a tough climb but there is a break about one third of the way up. The Amalfi coast is breathtaking! Our tour guide Antonina was a delight! If I could change one thing it would be more time at Amalfi and less at positano.

Wow! Visiting the Amalfi Coast for a day after spending time in Rome was like another world! Our guide Roberta was knowledgeable and engaging. The hike to the top of the limoncello farm was difficult (200 large steps up), but worth it in the end, just take your time. The views at the top were incredible. We had a perfect amount of free time for lunch and exploring/shopping. The train/ferry were seamless thanks to Roberta. Would absolutely recommend this day trip to anyone staying in Rome looking for a unique experience and visit to the gorgeous Amalfi Coast!

Planning a day trip to Italy’s most celebrated coastline? Check out the very best Amalfi Coast Tours from Rome to visit the top sights of the region.
Renowned for its staggering coastline and colorful villages, the Amalfi Coast is considered one of the gems of Southern Italy. And it’s also one of the most coveted holiday destinations for both locals and tourists.
I was born and raised in Bologna , a city a few hours north of the Amalfi Coast, yet somehow I only visited this region for the first time a few years ago. And now I can see why everyone’s obsessed with it!
![amalfi coast tours from rome Picture of the Amalfi Coast, with the blue waters of the Gulf of Naples on the right](https://www.everysteph.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Amalfi-Coast-Tours-from-Rome-1024x713.jpg)
I always recommend spending at least 2-3 nights on the Amalfi Coast to explore it properly. It truly has a lot in store to offer its visitors.
However, I know that many people just can’t add extra days to their vacation – yet, they don’t want to leave Italy without visiting the famous coastline. Understandable!
If you’re planning a trip to Rome, have limited time, and want to explore this breathtaking region, a day tour is a perfect way to do it. In fact, I do NOT recommend going on a day trip from Rome on your own .
You can theoretically do it, but it will be a logistical nightmare and you’ll end up spending the vast majority of your time in trains, buses or ferries.
Our list of Amalfi Coast day tours is super comprehensive, offering excursions that include visits to Pompeii and Capri as well. This way, you can make the most of your time in the area!
Whether you’re interested in history, culture, or simply soaking up the beauty of the coastline, there’s a tour on this list that’s perfect for you . So sit back, relax, and let us guide you through the best Amalfi Coast tours from Rome.
I use Viator and Get Your Guide to book tours around the world, and I especially recommend them because of their cancellation policy. Both platforms allow you to cancel most activities up to 24 hours in advance and receive a full refund.
Limited time? These are the best tours

Begin your trip with a 3-night sojourn in Florence, the 'Cradle of the Renaissance'. Your Extension includes 2 walking tours, one focusing on Florence's iconic monuments and the other focusing on the Left Bank district, the Oltrarno. Enjoy ample free time to explore Florence's charms or pay a visit to Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Museum before transferring to Rome aboard a high-speed train or choose a pre night in Rome. Hosted You’re accompanied by a Tour Manager part of the time, for some guided excursions. The rest of the time, you’re at leisure to explore the destination your own way.
- Overnight Flight
- You are on your way to Florence, the ‘Cradle of the Renaissance.’
- Florence, Italy - Tour Begins
- Get settled into Florence for your 3-night stay. Take time to get acquainted with the area on your own.
- Start your morning with a locally guided walking tour of Florence’s cultural treasures, passing by the Duomo, the Baptistery, the Palazzo Vecchio, and the Piazza della Signoria. The afternoon is yours to browse the shops of via Tornabuoni, or perhaps visit one of the city’s great museums* such as the Uffizi or the Accademia, which houses Michelangelo’s statue of David.
- Explore Florence’s bohemian Oltrarno district during a guided walking tour of the city’s Left Bank. Oltrarno literally means "on the other side of the Arno," the river which runs through Florence. Grasp the spirit of this “Florence of the Florentines:” here the last craftsmen, the market stalls, the gardens and churches, the typical restaurants and cafés still move at the gentle rhythm of everyday life, away from the hustle and bustle of Florence’s more famous monuments. The Oltrarno was so dear to the Medici family – Florence’s great rulers – that they made it their home by establishing themselves in the Pitti Palace. The remainder of the day is yours to explore more of Florence. Perhaps you’ll venture up to Piazzale Michelangelo, a panoramic terrace offering charming views over the city’s towers and domes.
- Florence - Rome
- Your Florentine sojourn comes to a close today. Say Arrivederci! as you transfer to Rome by high-speed train** to begin your tour.

A special ride along the funicular takes you back toward the Marina Grande to board your boat for the return to the mainland.
The Vatican Museums are not only home to one of the world’s greatest collections of art, but also to the world-famous Sistine Chapel. Priceless artifacts from ancient Egypt, Etruscan Italy and cultures around the world are preserved in the Vatican’s palaces, galleries, halls and rooms. Follow a local expert guide on a three hour, in-depth visit through this vast collection. Highlights include the Gallery of Maps, the Gallery of Tapestries and, of course, a visit to the Sistine Chapel. The chapel’s famous ceiling frescoes took Michelangelo four years to complete. His brilliant Last Judgment, which rests on the altar wall, was a topic of controversy for centuries. Other walls feature paintings by Pietro Perugino, Sandro Botticelli, Cosimo Rosselli and Domenico Ghirlandaio. Your final stop will be at St. Peter’s Basilica, one of the most important churches in Christendom, and until recently, the largest in the world.
Follow your expert guide on an engaging tour of Rome’s more epicurean side. Your culinary journey takes place in the bohemian Trastevere district, where medieval architecture meets ivy-clung houses and the lively chatter from the many eateries sprinkled through the neighborhood echoes off the cobblestoned streets. Partake in the local tradition of aperitivo (pre-dinner drink) before tasting your way through Rome’s most representative street food, such as supplì (fried rice ball) and pastas. Top off your culinary exploration with a taste of artisanal gelato and learn how to tell a good one from a factory-made, ensuring you never eat a bad one again!

These three sites are some of the most sought-after locations for tourists visiting Italy, and they are all UNSECO World Heritage sites!
From Rome to Pompeii
Tick these amazing locations off your bucket list with the help of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide, with you for the whole day. Meet them in the center of Rome and head to a comfortable and air-conditioned coach to start your adventure - sit back, relax and get excited as you escape the hustle and bustle of the Eternal City.
The first stop is Pompeii, and thanks to our Skip-the-Line tickets you’ll head straight in - no waiting in line to experience this amazing glimpse into the ancient Roman world. You’ll meet another guide here, a Pompeii expert who will help you make the most of this fantastic experience. They’ll show you hidden gems and regale you with stories of this city frozen in time, and the discoveries historians have made. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans themselves, taking in the graffiti and the well-preserved villas, the baths and the brothel and so much more!
You’ll have some free time to snap all the photographs you want and then eat your lunch before we head to stop number two: the Amalfi Coast! You’ll drive south to the seaside, along beautiful roads surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery. These coastlines with their dramatic mountains and colorful little villages really are picture-perfect, and everything you could want Italy to be!
Picturesque Positano
Last but not least you’ll head straight to one of these villages: pretty Positano. Spend your time here however you like - shop for souvenirs, wander the cobbled streets, relax with a limoncello (a local specialty)... whatever you do in this seaside village, you’ll fall slightly in love with it. Think pink flowers and higgeldy-piggeldy colorful houses, and you’ll have half an idea of how lovely Positano is.
This can’t-be-missed tour provides the perfect getaway from the chaos of Rome, and lets you experience ancient Rome, the seaside and the beauty of nature all in one day.
