Audley hires swindlers as tour guides who overcharge you for services others are providing and force you to go to stores and tell you to buy things and won't take no for an answer

We booked with Audley and they were fantastic until they had our money. However, one third of our trip was AWFUL and they literally had a tour guide for us for our four days in Hoi An who tried to (and succeeded) in ripping us off, upcharging us for services that he wasn't providing (merely translating), and essentially holding us captive and forcing us to go to a pottery village and wouldn't let us leave despite us saying we had no interest ...

We booked with Audley and they were fantastic until they had our money. However, one third of our trip was AWFUL and they literally had a tour guide for us for our four days in Hoi An who tried to (and succeeded) in ripping us off, upcharging us for services that he wasn't providing (merely translating), and essentially holding us captive and forcing us to go to a pottery village and wouldn't let us leave despite us saying we had no interest and didn't want to spend our money there. He forced us to go into at least six shops in that village alone telling us to buy something. Entirely unprofessional. We also almost missed our flight out of Hoi An because he insisted we didn't have to leave as early as everyone else said to leave (you could tell from his hungover face and Facebook pictures it was because he wanted to party the night before). Anyways, we didn't have our AIRLINE TICKETS until SIX minutes before boarding began and then he left us to fend for ourselves. We had to do our best to communicate with people in the security line to ask to go ahead of others so we wouldn't miss our flight. We raised these (among other) concerns with Audley Travel and were told that they would follow up and their local company would be reaching out. It's been three weeks, we have been back in the States for two weeks, and we have heard nothing. I suppose after getting $10k from you and us having no recourse they don't really care to follow-through or to ensure that we have a positive experience on our trip. I was in the early stages of planning a trip through Audley for my parents but notified them we will not be using them for that trip, and that we would be cautioning everyone else we know against using such an unprofessional company.

See the review above. With respect to Audley, I'm most disappointed in the lack of follow through in correcting or dealing with the unprofessional tour guide that we were stuck with for four days of our trip.

Beautiful holiday in Hawaii

Booked a 16-day trip to Hawaii covering three islands, self-drive. Included numerous tours, I.e. helicopter tour, snorkel and sail tour, etc.

Used Audley Travel for a two-week trip to Hawaii. The agent was very knowledgeable about the destination and booked us on some very unique experiences that I would not have found on my own. While there were some issues, everything was either rectified or we were compensated for them.

In the time of COVID, utilizing a reputable tour operator is crucial!

We were unable to proceed with our holiday due to COVID closures and canceled our trip.

When Sweden closed to Americans, Audley offered credit. After cajoling and complaining, they refunded our money in full, hence I am editing my previously negative comments here. Consumers should be aware that travel insurance will not refund your money in the event an airline or tour operator offers credit for flights, hotels, tour plans, etc. even due to COVID. Whether or not one can use that credit is irrelevant to the travel insurance company because from their perspective, if credit is offered then the consumer has not incurred a loss. It is, therefore, imperative that one deal with a highly reputable tour operator, and in the end, Audley was that kind of tour operator. As a result, I would consider using them again in the future.

South African Adventure

Simply Incredible! We had an amazing trip organized and executed by the Audley team through out South Africa. We started our adventure in Cape Town, then made our way through the wine country (Stellenbosch and Franschhoek), and on to Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, and finished off the southern itinerary on safari in East Cape. We then flew up to Mala Mala, stayed in Rattray's Camp, and had one of our best safari adventures ...

Simply Incredible! We had an amazing trip organized and executed by the Audley team through out South Africa. We started our adventure in Cape Town, then made our way through the wine country (Stellenbosch and Franschhoek), and on to Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, and finished off the southern itinerary on safari in East Cape. We then headed back to Cape Town for some beach time in Clifton/Camps Bay, and some amazing food, before flying home. We have been to South Africa, as well as to several other countries in Africa over the years but this trip was so well organized, and enabled us to really soak in all that the people, culture, landscape, and animals were offering us. They get a five for half right!

I returned last month from Japan and Vietnam. The Itinerary was Huge for twelve days. It was full of useless information, but lacking in facts that I needed. Japan was hit or miss, but Vietnam was great. In Japan, I was sent to a Ryokan in Hakone for fifteen hours. This was a three train, two bus trip each way. The place was Awful. This was two days wasted of a twelve day trip. I wrote them a three page letter that was never acknowledged. ...

I'm giving it average, because I enjoyed Vietnam. Japan was poorly organized. I have traveled most of the world in the last twenty years. There are much better people out there. I have also planned my own trips.

We are so sorry that you didn't find the value in our service. In this case, it sounds like perhaps the services we offer were not a great fit for you as an independent and experienced traveler. New Zealand and Australia with Audley Travel

My husband and I recently used Audley Travel for a trip to Australia and New Zealand. The destination is great.

Regarding Audley, the hotels and most excursions were fine. However, you choose a travel agency for help with the logistics--easy directions, smooth travel, etc. This is not the case in our experience with Audley. First, Audley did not have us fly in a day ahead so that if any of the 4 flights to our initial destination was delayed, then we had a cushion. In fact the first flight was delayed. Any company that has been in this business as long as Audley should not have made this logistical mistake. In addition, it is extremely difficult to follow the directions Audley includes in their travel packet: key information is buried in non-essential information about the area, you have to flip back and forth in their book to find where you are supposed to be when. Critical information about hotels or transportation for example was spread out over multiple documents. For their prices, there is no excuse for this. As a point of information, both my husband and I are PhDs and we are comfortable dealing with complex information. Audley's documents are really bad, and this is s systemic issue. In other words, it is not the fault of one bad travel agent at Audley. It is the fault of the Audley process as a whole. At one of the hotels Audley uses, the person at the desk who was helping me with a very confusing Audley-booked excursion mentioned that about half the Audley clients had problems. The word she used for that half was "a disaster." I would highly recommend going with someone else who can make the logistics clear and easy to use. No travel agency gets credit for a great destination (no travel agency created the beauty of New Zealand or Australia). A good agency at minimum handle logistics well. Audley does not in my experience.

First Class Holiday

We have just returned from a First Class holiday to Vietnam organised by Audley Travel. Hayley Ryan organised it for us and delivered what she said she would. She even arranged a local sim for our phone just in case we needed to contact our guides. Hotels and tours were all excellent and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Thank You Hayley for an excellent trip, we will remember it for a long time to come.

Audley Travel. Hayley Ryan was our tour adviser. She organised a wonderful holiday for us with fantastic hotels and tours nothing was too much bother for her. She kept in touch regularly with us and was very helpful in explaining everything.

We visited Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.

We hired Audley Travel to assist of with planning our trip to Thailand. The agent assigned to us for the most part put together a good itinerary with a few notable exceptions: 1) he failed to inform us that each of our planned excursions from the hotel averaged 11/2 travel hours or more in each direction 2) he didn’t make the effort to secure requested seating on flights and 3) made multitlple clearical mistakes in the intinerary. We requested the best hotels and they were all very good. However, for the fees paid the trip felt “packaged” and not custom.

Extremely Disappointed with Swiss Travel

We saved up for our dream holiday to Costa Rica. After lots of research we chose Audley Travel to book our holiday through, they tailor make each holiday package to suit the individuals requirements, the holiday was well arranged by Audley Travel with good communications, staying at 5 different locations which all looked amazing. The problems all started when we arrived at San Jose Airport, we met the Swiss Travel Rep who led us to a mini van. The Rep stayed on the bus for all of 5 minutes while he gave us a quick explanation of what was going to happen..We were told the transfer time to the first location would take around 2 hours, it took over 4 hours which was totally unacceptable after an 11 hour flight, we arrived at La Selva Biological Station at about 10pm. When we woke up in the morning, we found out the lodge was about a mile walk away from the reception and breakfast area. We had zero communications from Swiss Travel during the whole holiday, we had an itinerary on an App that showed us which days we would be transferring to the next location but no one from Swiss Travel ever told us what time we were being collected, this happened at every location and was quite stressful. On the last day we had an internal flight shown on our itinerary App from Puerto Jiménez Airport to San Jose Airport. We were led to the small 10 seater plane and were pleased we made it after not knowing what time we were being collected from the last Lodge. We were sitting on the plane then an official looking person boarded and told us to get off because the flight hadn’t been paid for. This was unbelievable considering how much money we had paid for this holiday. After a long discussion between Swiss Travel and the flight officials were allowed back on the plane, 
We will NEVER use Audley Travel again if we know swiss Travel are involved, considering the amount of money we handed over for such a poor experience, we could have arranged this holiday ourselves for half the price and less stress. We would definitely NOT recommend anyone to use Audley Travel for an expensive holiday to Costa Rica if Swiss Travel are involved.

Botswana 2024

We have just returned from our third safari trip to Botswana, each organised through Audley Travel, and felt it was time we wrote a review in order to let others know what a fantastic company they are but also to sing the praises of the specialist we used Alex Cooke. Alex’s knowledge of, not only Botswana itself, but its camps and wildlife cannot be faulted and can be totally relied upon. He is keen to hear about your expectations, wants and needs and works to ensure that these are met at every level. From the booking process right up to the day of departure Alex kept in touch with us to ensure that everything was going to plan and such contact was greatly received and was never intrusive. On our return from trips he is always keen to hear about all of our experiences, receive photos etc and it is always a great pleasure to share these with him. We can fully recommend Audley Travel ( who we have used on 5 previous occasions) and especially their specialist Alex Cooke. Yes…we have booked to return to Botswana in 2025 too!

A supper service - again

We used Audley for a rearranged 20th wedding anniversary trip. Arrangements were made last year for travel this year (2024). It's not the first time we have used Adley to arrange a significant trip and once again they were incredibly helpful, attentive to our needs, and invaluable in helping us when we had to rearrange our travel dates. Our agent, Sophie, was brilliant at keeping us informed and managing all of our needs. A first class customer experience

Adventures in South Africa

A wonderful holiday with Audley Travel

From our first contact with Audley Travel to our return home, every aspect of our holiday was excellent. Our New Zealand specialist, Keshia, took on board all our requirements and put together a wonderful itinerary for us. We felt listened to the whole time, and were provided with plenty of information for our trip. Eg, travel routes, restaurant recommendations and suggested activities. Our flights and hotels were excellent and our booked activities just right. The Audley representatives in New Zealand contacted us within a few days of our arrival, but fortunately we did not need them. We loved every aspect of our four weeks in New Zealand, and did not want to come home! We cannot think of anything that could have been done better. Brilliant Holiday Company

Alison worked closely with us designing our dream holiday to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. 6 Week New Zealand and Australia Holiday

We’ve been on an amazing 6 week trip to New Zealand and Australia, arranged by Amy Waters, who has been brilliant from our first telephone conversation to our catch up call after our trip and all the emails and phone calls in between, all our flights, hotels, various trips, car hire and transfers have been exceptional, we wanted a trip to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and my 60th birthday, and this was a trip of a lifetime, Amy listened to what we do and don’t like from a holiday and tailored it perfectly to us. Costa Rica holiday

We chose to go to Audley again after they organised a great trip for us to the US 4 years ago. Will began with a chat with us to get a good idea of what sort of holiday we were looking for and then he put together a perfect trip for us in Costa Rica. The team has excellent insider knowledge of the places we visited and of the hotels and they gave us hints and tips, including restaurant recommendations and ideas of what to pack, to get the best out of our stay. Will was easy to contact when we needed to. The webinar chat before going away was also useful. Once there, the accommodation was generally as was described, although some exceeded our expectations. Quality and Care

We have just come back from a two week holiday of a lifetime - in the southern states of America - planned as a treat for my 91 year old mother! Audley Travel gave us a travel experience I have never had in all of my 70 years! From the initial suggested itinerary, to the communication from start to finish, and the attention to detail in every aspect of our holiday, we felt looked after. 'Quality and care' are two words I'd use as an overall description. And their pricing was surprisingly less than I had anticipated, having conducted my research beforehand. We dealt with Charlotte Callin the Malaysia and Borneo specialist. She was very professional and not pushy at all when we were considering booking our Malaysia trip. Superb in every way

We used Audley for our trip to New Zealand and Malaysia and we are so pleased with our decision. Planning calls were fun, informative and resulted in a perfect itinerary. On the trip itself the logistics were faultless. Pre booked tours were always on time all the staff on the ground were friendly and reliable. However where Audley really excelled was their response to an issue we had at Auckland airport. I am an amputee and my prosthesis broke whilst we waiting to board our flight to Malaysia. We contacted the local rep who organised support for the flight and notified the team in Kuala Lumpur. On our arrival we were informed by our guide that an appointment had been booked for me at a clinic the next morning. I was picked up from the hotel and within an hour was back walking again and able to carry on with our amazing trip. The sense of security and support provided by Audley was a real comfort at a worrying time and the speed of resolution truly amazing. To summarise we will definitely be using Audley for our next trip and I would recommend them to anyone who was planning a trip of a lifetime.

An excellent travel company to trust with your holiday plans

Keshia, at Audley, created a truly memorable holiday for us to New Zealand. The whole experience was very simple and easy for us. Audley were extremely quick to reply to our initial enquiry, arranging a video call to understand our requirements, and they produced an itinerary that matched those requirements. Keshia kept us well informed on the progress of all bookings and was quick to come back with any questions over the options available to us, clearly setting out pros and cons. The online portal hosting our travel details was easy to use and very comprehensive, as was the folder provided for those who prefer a paper-based solution. NBA admits missing Tyrese Maxey's travel before four-point play against Knicks in Game 5

The NBA released their two-minute report Wednesday evening and revealed they missed a crucial call on Tyrese Maxey in the Knicks ’ Game 5 loss to the 76ers .

With the 76ers down six with 28 seconds to go, Maxey went over a Joel Embiid screen to take a three-point shot. Mitchell Robinson switched over to defend but fouled the Philadelphia guard, giving the 76ers life.

However, the NBA refs say they missed the travel after looking at the tape.

“Maxey gathers the ball on his left foot, takes two legal steps, and then moves his right foot again just before he is fouled on his shot,” the report read.

After the Game 5 loss, Robinson owned up to his mistake saying “I’ll just take it like a man, I f----ed up.”

Regardless, the refs’ two-minute report has become one storyline in this Knicks-76ers series. A lot was made of the Knicks’ improbable comeback in Game 2, which was aided by some missed calls, especially when Josh Hart stole the ball from Maxey on the inbound pass that resulted in the three from Donte DiVincenzo that gave the Knicks the lead, and eventually the win.

Game 5's two-minute report revealed four incorrect calls, including the missed travel. One was the stoppage of time after Jalen Brunson ’s final shot in regulation was blocked. The Knicks should have had .04 seconds remaining.

The other two was a non-call on Nicolas Batum being hooked by Brunson with 1:27 remaining, and Hart was incorrectly called out of bounds when he tried to save a ball. That occurred with 41.5 seconds remaining.

Game 6 between the Knicks and 76ers will happen at 9 p.m. on Thursday. Game 7 will occur on Saturday evening at Madison Square Garden, if necessary.

NBA: Officials missed Tyrese Maxey travel at end of regulation

According to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report from Game 5 of the instant classic first-round series between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks , Tyrese Maxey 's heroics never should've happened.

That's because the league said the game's refereeing crew missed a Maxey travel on his 3-pointer with 25.4 seconds to go, on which he was fouled by Knicks center Mitchell Robinson and made the free throw, beginning Philadelphia's remarkable comeback from down 6 with 28.9 seconds remaining in regulation to eventually win 112-106 in overtime and keep the 76ers' season alive.

There were three other calls that were deemed incorrect: there should have been 0.4 seconds left in regulation, and Knicks ball, after Nicolas Batum blocked Jalen Brunson 's potential game-tying shot out of bounds (the clock instead ran out, sending the game to overtime); Brunson should've been called for an offensive foul in overtime on the play that ultimately became a flagrant foul on Joel Embiid for hitting Brunson in the head; and Josh Hart was not actually out of bounds with 41.5 seconds to go.

It is another way in which Philadelphia's Game 5 miracle mirrors New York's doing the same thing to the Sixers in Game 2, as there were multiple officiating errors in New York's favor as part of that comeback in the Last Two Minute Report from that game.
