Björk Announces 2022 Cornucopia Tour Dates

Björk is reviving her Cornucopia performance for a total of five dates early next year. She will perform the concert at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, as well as the Chase Center in San Francisco. Tickets for both the Los Angeles and San Francisco shows will go on sale October 15. Find the full list of dates, as well as the rescheduled dates for her previously announced orchestral performances in Reykjavík, Iceland, below.

Cornucopia is based off of Björk’s 2017 album Utopia , and originally featured the seven-piece female Icelandic flute ensemble who appeared on the album. The original Cornucopia performances debuted in spring 2019. The show is directed by Lucrecia Martel and Björk with co-creative director James Merry.

Björk Orchestral will take place in Reykjavík over four nights starting next week. The intimate tour will feature Björk’s orchestral arrangements played by members of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, flute septet Viibra, the Hamrahlid Choir and special guests. The performances will also be streamed live online, with a portion of the sales donated in support of women’s charities worldwide.

Björk announces 2023 European ‘Cornucopia’ tour

Tickets for the shows go on sale later this week

Björk has today (January 30) announced details of an upcoming ‘Cornucopia’ tour in Europe later this year.

The Icelandic musician first premiered the show in a New York residency featuring a 50-person choir and the flute group Viibra.

“Cornucopia was always intended to be a world for both ‘Utopia’ and the album after that, which is now out there called ‘ Fossora’ , ” she wrote in a statement. “i am truly excited to premier those 2 worlds colliding, this autumn in southern Europe.”

Last week, Björk shared details of her upcoming performance at this year’s Coachella , revealing that her set will feature a local orchestra and span her three-decade discography. 

“We are so excited to bring björk orkestral to [Coachella], the singer wrote on Twitter (January 25). “We will bring on the stage a local orkestra and play arrangements from 30 years”. The announcement was accompanied by the dates Björk is due to perform at Coachella, which are slated across the festival’s two weekends on April 16 and April 23.

Spanning the singer’s 10-album catalogue, it will include songs from latest album ‘Forrossa’, which NME described as “heavier – and more hopeful – than anything before” in a  four-star review . “​​There’s a lot of pleasure in the album,” Björk said of ‘Forrossa’ in an  interview with  NME   last year. “It’s about enjoying that space.”

Björk’s orchestral set will mark her first appearance at Coachella since 2007 when she headlined the Californian event  alongside  Red Hot Chilli Peppers  and  Rage Against The Machine . For this year’s line-up, the singer is billed beneath  Frank Ocean , who will headline Coachella 2023 with  Bad Bunny  and  BLACKPINK .

Björk Announces 2021 Orchestral Livestreams, 2022 ‘Cornucopia’ US Dates

On Thursday,  Björk  announced a string of livestream performances from Björk Orchestral , as well as a series of dates for the critically-acclaimed production, Cornucopia .

The upcoming Björk Orchestral livestreams will feature four shows over five weeks, beginning on Monday, October 11th. The intimate tour featuring Björk’s orchestral arrangements will all take place at  Reykjavik Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland—the singer, songwriter, and artist’s hometown. All shows will see her arrangements played by members of the  Iceland Symphony Orchestra , flute septet  Viibra , the  Hamrahlid Choir , and special guests. Björk will donate a portion of the proceeds from these shows to women’s charities around the world.

Along with news of these orchestral livestreams, Björk also announced a stretch of shows for her Cornucopia  production, which will take place in the United States starting early next year. Directed by Björk and Lucrecia Martel , along with co-creative director  James Merry ,  Cornucopia  features a stunning stage display of lights and graphics from stage designer Chiara Stephenson , and music based on Björk’s 2017 album, Utopia .

Originally premiering in 2019 at The Shed in New York City, Björk will bring the production to Los Angeles, CA’s  Shrine Auditorium  starting on January 26th. She will then continue at Shrine Auditorium on January 29th and February 1st before heading to  Chase Center in San Francisco, CA for two shows on February 5th and February 8th to close out the tour.

Björk Lets Hundreds of Drones Loose at Coachella: Video + Setlist

The Icelandic songstress performs her hits with a full orchestra

Björk offered a career-spanning performance to the crowd at Coachella 2023 with support from the Hollywood String Ensemble in a unique reprisal of her recently-concluded “Orkestral” concerts. To make the appearance extra special, she used more than 800 drones to create a light show above the stage.

During Björk’s set, the singer played songs ranging from the newer “Freefall” to classics like “Isobel” and “Jóga” to the Oscar-nominated “I’ve Seen It All.” She was accompanied by touring conductor Bjarni Frímann as the hundreds of drones floated above. Though the performance was pulled from the YouTube livestream at the last minute, you can still watch the fan-shot footage and see the full setlist below.

“I wanted to share with you excitedly that i was joined with 864 drones tonight !!!” Björk wrote on Instagram after her appearance. “The show tonight was orkestral which is me, all about simplicity, [with] only conductor @bjarnifrimann and [an] orchestra playing a selection of my songs… so in honour of @coachella magnificent festival (i played here first 21 years ago pregnant) i asked a drone company, studio drift, to join us. i have always been very interested in digital notation and the abstraction of tonality being visual so hopefully the audience got slashes of synesthesia while watching.”

Björk previously hosted two headlining performances at the long-running Indio, California event in 2002 and 2007, and was only listed below Frank Ocean for her third appearance on Sunday.

The “Björk Orkestral” stage production has been an endeavor that the celebrated Icelandic singer-songwriter has tinkered with since it was announced in early 2020 and initially performed virtually in late 2021. She extended the engagement through 2022, with a South American trek later in the year serving as the first shows following the release of her tenth album, Fossora . The two-weekend stint at Coachella currently stands as the final run for the elaborate, symphonic setup.

Meanwhile, Björk has split her time on the road with the concurrent “Cornucopia” world tour , which showcases the massive stage act that the enigmatic artist first debuted in 2019, then revived in 2022. Outside of the live space, Björk has supported her latest LP with an “Ovule” remix featuring Shygirl and Sega Bodega as well as unsurprisingly stellar music videos for “Sorrowful Soil” and “fossora.” She also released a remix of Shygirl’s “Woe” in March.

The PGA Tour is back in the Lone Star State for the third time this year.

The 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson is set to get underway Thursday from TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The title sponsor, CJ Cup is new, replacing AT&T, but this is the same tournament that was established in 1940.

Jason Day is the defending champion, and he’ll look for his first win since last year in Texas at the 7,414-yard, par-71 layout. Joining Day in the field are Dallas residents Jordan Spieth and Tom Kim, among others.

The purse at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson is $9.5 million with $1.71 million going to the winner. The winner will also receive 500 FedEx Cup points.
