Bruce Springsteen is bringing his tour to NC in 2023. Here’s where and how to buy tickets

Bruce Springsteen has scheduled a tour stop in Greensboro in 2023, just over seven years after he canceled a show there because of North Carolina’s House Bill 2.

Springsteen and The E Street Band announced Tuesday that their 2023 international tour will kick off Feb. 1, in Tampa, Fla. Their North Carolina stop at the Greensboro Coliseum is scheduled March 25. Tickets go on sale July 22 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.

A news release notes that it’s Springsteen’s first tour in North America since 2016 and their first tour dates since February 2017. It’s also their first concert in North Carolina since 2014, when he played PNC Arena in Raleigh.

He was expected to bring his top-selling tour to the Greensboro Coliseum on April 10, 2016, but the rocker nixed the concert two days before the show, citing the controversial HB2 law. On April 8, he said he would cancel the concert because doing so “is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.” Over 15,000 tickets had been sold , The News & Observer reported at the time.

House Bill 2, often referred to as the Bathroom Bill, had been enacted on March 23. Among other things, it required people to use the bathroom that corresponded to the gender on their birth certificate and prevented municipalities from enacting non-discrimination ordinances.

“Some things are more important than a rock show, and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them,” Springsteen wrote to explain the cancellation.

Springsteen wasn’t alone. HB2 prompted several high-profile entertainers, productions and athletic events to halt business in the state, including Cirque du Soleil , Ringo Starr and Pearl Jam.

Springsteen’s 2016-2017 tour was still a hit and was “named 2016’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar,” according to a news release.

Flash-forward to the present. HB2 has been repealed, and Springsteen is ready to return to North Carolina.

His most recent album, “Letter to You,” was released in 2020 and was the first time he and the E Street Band had recorded live together in many years.

How to buy tickets

Due to expected high demand, ticket-goers must register through Ticketmaster Verified Fan by 11:59 p.m. EST Sunday, July 17, to buy tickets. Those who are verified will be “equally eligible” to get a code to buy tickets. The website is at verifiedfan.ticketmaster.com/springsteen .

Ticketmaster said getting a code does not guarantee a ticket code, and thus the ability to buy tickets. But the ticket outlet said it prevents bots out of the ticket buying process.

Tickets will be available for purchase between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. If tickets remain, general on-sale tickets will be sold at 3 p.m. with no code required.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band announce Greensboro stop on 2023 tour

bruce springsteen tour greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — "The Boss" is taking a drive down "Thunder Road" and has Greensboro mapped out as a prime pit stop on the route.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced Tuesday they are kicking off their first tour dates since February 2017 and will play 31 shows -- including one at the Greensboro Coliseum Saturday, March 25, 2023.

This will be Springsteen's first planned stop in Greensboro since 2016, when he backed out of a show amid political controversy in the state. North Carolina was in the national spotlight over the since-overturned House Bill 2, dubbed the 'Bathroom Bill,' which required people to use public restrooms corresponding to the sex on their birth certificates. Proponents cited privacy protection. Opponents, including lgbtq+ advocacy groups, argued it was discriminatory.

Tickets for the March 25 Greensboro show will go on sale Friday, July 22 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan platform. After that sale, any tickets remaining will be available on Ticketmaster, without the Verified Fan access codes, at 3 p.m.

The tour comes two years after Springsteen and E Street Band released their studio album 'Letter To You,' marking their first time recording live together in decades.

After Greensboro, the tour will head to Washington, D.C., Detroit and New York. The tour will wrap up in Newark, NJ April 14.

BOSS BACK IN THE ‘BORO AFTER 2016 CANCELLATION

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Bruce Springsteen pointed to the general admission pit fronting the stage after the E Street Band’s outstanding six-song encore Saturday night and laughed. In particular, he singled out one female superfan that he allowed to scream into his microphone twice during the show.

It was more of a banshee’s wail than a whoop and holler, which had Springsteen shaking his head in wonderment. The fan’s outburst provided one more intimate snapshot of a devoted crowd that’s grown up with Springsteen over the past 50 years, cheering an artist that forges extended connections with his audience, whether they’re standing in the front row or perched in the upper deck behind the stage.

Yes, it was a joyous occasion at Greensboro Coliseum, considering Springsteen canceled a 2016 date at the arena over North Carolina’s controversial bathroom bill that prohibited transgender people from using bathrooms apart from their assigned gender at birth. The law was overturned one year later and Greensboro Coliseum now has a gender-neutral restroom on the main concourse.

Fast forward to 2023 and a total of 20,043 packed the coliseum, tied to a manifest with few seat kills, somewhat unusual for an end stage production, but certainly do-able given the stage layout was open in the back, providing 360-degree views. For Springsteen, playing the coliseum for the ninth time in his career dating to 1981, the concert produced the 11th largest concert crowd in the coliseum’s 64-year-old history. All told, Springsteen now holds three of the 20 highest attended events in coliseum annals, arena officials said.

“Best concert I may have ever seen,” said Scott Johnson, Greensboro Coliseum’s deputy director for 32 years, who could be seen walking the floor during the show, capping off a busy day that saw a swim meet, home show and a G League game on campus, plus Skid Row and Buckcherry at Piedmont Hall, a smaller concert venue that’s part of the complex.

You can bet lots of beer was consumed between the two shows: Springsteen generated a $16.08 per cap on food and drink, while the metal concert across the parking lot produced an average spend of $22.73. OVG Hospitality runs the food at all venues within the complex.

The 20,000-plus were treated to a lengthy, two hours and 45 minutes of hits and a few rarities. Yeah, it’s down from the 3 hours and 30 minutes the E Street Band was historically known for performing, but we’ll give a pass to the 73-year-old Boss and the elder statesmen and women making up about half of the current E Street Band lineup. To be honest, Springsteen probably could have played all night, given his peak physical condition. At one point late in the show, he ripped open his black buttoned down shirt, baring a physique more in line with a man half his age.

Considering the frenetic pace of the show, the E Street Band’s stamina was amazing. For the most part, they ripped through the 26-song set without pause. The one substantial break came midway through the concert for Springsteen’s solo acoustic performance of “Last Man Standing,” a poignant tune about Bruce becoming the final survivor of his first band, The Castiles, formed in 1965.

The content itself showed the band’s staying power, most notably Kitty’s Back, a lengthy, 15-minute jam that Springsteen recorded in 1973, and gives individual members an opportunity to shine, most notably Roy Bittan, known as “The Professor,” and a key piece of the group dating to the release of “Born to Run” in 1975.

The current tour repertoire showcases “Nightshift,” the Commodores’ 1985 hit that Springsteen covered on his newest album, “Only the Strong Survive,” a collection of R&B/soul songs originally performed by Jerry Butler, Frankie Valli, the Four Tops, the Temptations and Ben E. King, among others.

For baby boomers, “Because the Night” struck a familiar chord. Co-written by Springsteen and Patti Smith, who at the time leaned more to punk rock, the tune became a top 15 hit for the Patti Smith Group in 1978.

“Wrecking Ball,” played toward the end of the night, peels back a layer of Springsteen’s persona that shows a Jersey guy who remains a venue geek at heart. It was written in 2009 before the E Street Band played a series of five shows at old Giants Stadium, as an ode to the Meadowlands facility that was later torn down to make way for MetLife Stadium, which opened in 2010.

The six-song flourish to the finish started with Thunder Road, flowing into Born To Run, Rosalita, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark and Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. The house lights were turned on for those half-dozen tunes, a nice touch that lent a dramatic finality to the night and gave Bruce some additional safety as he maneuvered the crowd to sing “Freeze-Out” on a platform splitting the pit from floor seats.

The song added heartfelt memories of saxophonist Clarence Clemons and keyboardist Danny Federici through images flashed on the two videboards of them from past performances. Both were longtime members of the E Street Band dating to 1972. Federici died in 2008 and Clemons passed three years later.

BIG MAN REDUX :  Jake Clemons, nephew of the late Clarence Clemons, shines on sax for the E Street Band. (Getty Images)

Jake Clemons, Clarence’s nephew, has made his uncle proud by filling his shoes through his immense talent on sax. Jake joined the E Street gang in 2012. Multiple times in Greensboro, he strode alongside Springsteen at the front of the stage to toot his horn with the same authority and flash that was his the Big Man’s trademark.

The show closed with Springsteen going solo for a second time on the song “I’ll See You in My Dreams,” a single released in 2020 as a dedication to the late Michael Gudinski, an Australian independent music executive and a good friend of Springsteen.

Overall, the sound was impeccable and the video was crisp and timely, with close-ups of guitarist Stevie Van Zandt, the band’s consigliere, making a bold fashion statement as usual with his incredibly pointy boots, straight out of a fairy tale.

On the main concourse before the show, there were pinch points in traffic flow as fans swarmed the swag stand to gobble up $50 T-shirts and $90 hoodies. It’s one more example of how the escalation in concert merchandise pricing since the pandemic has not affected consumer buying habits, driving record per caps in some cases. The merchandise per cap was $16.36, certainly not Harry Styles territory, but still stronger than most concerts at the coliseum, Johnson said. Doing the math, gross sales were about $328,000.

The swarm gave some folks second thoughts that may have wanted to buy merch but didn’t want to get caught up in the tidal wave. Maybe it’s time for arenas and stadiums to huddle up with concessionaires and touring acts to develop a grab-and-go marketplace for concert retail. On the food side, those concepts stand among the highest revenue-producing spaces across sports and entertainment due to speed of service and convenience.

The Boss, the guy that stays loyal to buildings that have stuck with him over time regardless of the issues, would concur.

'Classic Bruce': Springsteen delivers in Greensboro with a rousing performance

Fans talk about Springsteen before Greensboro concert

Trim, toned and dressed in no-nonsense black and gray, Bruce Springsteen stepped onto the stage of the Greensboro Coliseum at 7:43 p.m. Saturday, his famous beat-up Telecaster guitar slung behind his back, twirled his right hand in the air a few times and launched into “No Surrender,” kicking off a nearly three-hour concert of sing-a-longs, fist pumps and nonstop groove-busting that surely had thousands of Baby Boomers and Gen X-ers reaching for their Ibuprofen after the show.

E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren, left, and Bruce Springsteen come down the runway to play for the crowd, Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

In an arena that has been host to so much basketball over the last three weeks, Springsteen’s show was a rim-rattling slam dunk, proving that at 73, Springsteen remains an age-defying, transcendent performer, who has apparently decided to flip the bird to Father Time.

It was the kind of soul-lifting concert that twin sisters Bridget Raber and Margaret Casey-Kruger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., had hoped for.

The twins were among the thousands of fans who gathered in the parking lot on a sun-soaked afternoon, priming themselves for the show.

Self-described “New Jersey girls,” the sisters were celebrating their 60th birthday. Last week, a friend, unable to attend the show, asked them if they wanted his second-row tickets for free.

“Are you freakin’ kidding me?” Raber asked.

Twin sisters Bridget Raber, left and Margaret Casey-Kruger, who are originally from Bordentown, N.J. tailgate before the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum. The two were celebrating their 60th birthdays.

Raber and Casey-Kruger grew up in central New Jersey and feel a kinship with Springsteen, whose working-class Jersey roots are central to his identity.

“We grew up with him,” Casey-Kruger said.

Springsteen’s music, they said, reflects the lives of waitresses, factory workers and working people trying to get by.

“It’s real life,” Raber said. “It’s America.”

Her sister chimed in: “It’s not divisive. It’s, ‘Let’s celebrate our journey.’”

The convivial atmosphere that Springsteen creates in his shows was evident all over the parking lot on Saturday, with folks blasting his music, playing cornhole and sipping on drinks.

On one end of the parking lot, another pair of fans from Jersey — Barbara Frycz and her daughter, Courtney, 23, — sat under a shade tree before the show. Courtney was dressed in one of her mom’s vintage Springsteen concert T-shirts.

Courtney Frycz wears one of her mom, Barbara's original Bruce Springsteen concert shirts as they tailgate before Springsteen's concert.

“I grew up on Bruce Springsteen,” said Courtney, who now lives in Raleigh. Saturday’s Springsteen was her first.

Barbara saw her first Springsteen show in Princeton, N.J., in 1978, when she was 15. Taking her daughter to see a Springsteen show is a rite of passage, she said.

Greensboro has been a regular stop on Springsteen tours for years, but this was his first since 2012. He was last scheduled to play the coliseum in 2016 but canceled the show in protest of what has been called the “Bathroom Bill,” which prohibited transgender people from using restrooms aligned with their identity.

A pair of Bruce Springsteen fans are enthralled in the moment during the song "Prove It All Night", Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Saturday’s show brought people together from around the Southeast and points beyond.

Sipping a white Russian from a Yeti tumbler before the show, Mike Cleary of Apex said he first saw Springsteen in 1985. He has seen him several times since and referred to him as his “soulful older brother.”

“It’s a rock-and-roll gospel show. It’s like a religious experience,” he said. “He brings it and there’s nothing like a Bruce Springsteen show.”

His wife Maureen nodded: “Nothing.”

E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons, left, and Bruce Springsteen come down the runway to play for the crowd Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Springsteen’s setlist covered the breadth of recording career including the big hits — “Dancing in the Dark” and “Glory Days” — the satisfying fan favorites — “The Promised Land,” “Badlands” and “Backstreets” to name a few — and expected anthems — “The Rising” and “Born to Run.”

He also played songs from his newer albums, including a soulful reading of the Commodores’ 1985 hit, “Nightshift.” The song is among several R&B hits that Springsteen covered in his latest album, “Only the Strong Survive.”

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform Saturday.

The eight-member E Street Band, a four-man horn section and four backup singers added the punch while Springsteen strutted the stage like a tent-revival preacher.

Though this version of Springsteen doesn’t slide across the stage on his knees, jump off drum risers or bend backward while clinging to the mic stand, he regularly strolled one runway that spanned the length of the stage and another shorter one that jutted into the front of the stage where he slapped hands with fans and tossed a few harmonicas into the crowd. A flip of his hand could whip a whole section of the coliseum into a frenzy.

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt perform "Prove It All Night", Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

His 26-song set covered themes of friendship, community and love, threads that run through much of his music. The lights came on during “Born to Run” and stayed on for the next five songs, so that everyone could see up close the joy of being together in that moment.

Rich Jones of Charlotte walked back to his car raving about the show.

“That was classic Bruce,” he said. “That at 73 he can still do this, is amazing.”

Ticket prices for Springsteen's concerts, including one in Greensboro, spark ire

  • Jul 29, 2022

GREENSBORO — The working-class heroes about whom Bruce Springsteen sings couldn’t afford these concert tickets.

Even if they and other fans can, many have balked at the ticket prices for Springsteen’s 2023 international tour with the E Street Band, including a March 25 stop at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The week-long uproar about ticket access and costs spread to several cities where one of the world’s popular and best-selling musical artists will perform.

Fans who registered online for the chance to buy tickets last week found some seats reaching $4,000 to $5,000 when their turn came to buy.

Bruce Springsteen has performed in Greensboro many times. In this 2009 photo, Springsteen and the E Street Band perform at the Greensboro Coliseum. Springsteen is set to return to the coliseum on March 25.

That resulted from Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing,” allowing a company that sells goods or services over the internet to adjust prices on the fly in response to demand — much the way that airlines and hotels do.

Within hours of the sale’s start for the Greensboro show, few except “verified resale” tickets were available. Little red dots mark those seats on the Ticketmaster site .

The coliseum does not set ticket prices for concerts, said Andrew Brown, its director of public relations and communications.

Nor does it determine whether a tour or artist implements dynamic pricing for its event, Brown said.

Greensboro had one of the largest numbers of “Verified Fan” sign-up requests for this tour, with more than 19,900, Brown said.

Verified Fans could buy up to four tickets in the coliseum, where the capacity will be more than 20,000 — “meaning demand far exceeded availability,” Brown said.

Janet Villas of Greensboro ended up not buying tickets for the Boss’s coliseum concert.

Online on July 22, Villas was offered tickets in three sections “in front the stage and the lowest price was $2,450 each,” she said via email. “It was even more to stand for the whole concert and Bruce does famously long concerts.”

She went to the online ticket exchange and resale site StubHub.com . There, she said, she found tickets as low as $140, behind the stage and up in the “nosebleed section.”

“To actually get a side view of Bruce, you would have to pay $400 and again, this is up in the rarified air,” Villas said.

On Sunday, Ticketmaster released statistics saying that the majority of Springsteen and E Street Band fans in the U.S. who bought concert tickets last week bought them at face value.

Just over 88% of the tickets were sold at face value, according to Ticketmaster. The prices for arena shows ranged from $59.50 to $399 before service fees.

On Tuesday, Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau said that ticket prices are fair.

Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" was released in 1974.

“In pricing tickets for this tour, we looked carefully at what our peers have been doing,” Landau said in a statement to the New York Times . “We chose prices that are lower than some and on par with others.”

Landau said that a modest number of tickets sold for $1,000 or more, and that the true average ticket price for seats that went on sale last week was in the mid-$200 range.

“I believe that in today’s environment, that is a fair price to see someone universally regarded as among the greatest artists of his generation,” Landau said.

Some buyers reported on Twitter that they were happy with their purchase.

“Just got two Springsteen tickets for Greensboro for $205 including fees,” one fan posted. “I’m in the very back, but I don’t care. At least I’ll be there and didn’t have to sell my car to afford a ticket.”

Another posted: “...managed to score 2 #Springsteen tickets to #Greensboro for $305. Seats aren’t great, and I was fully prepared to say peace out to this experience if prices were insane but was thoroughly surprised.”

Another fan posted on Twitter what the prices looked like at one point in time for “Official Platinum” seats — premium tickets and not resale tickets.

A Section 116, Row JJ seat was selling for $775 each, and Section 122, Row GG for $613.75 each. Section 211 Row E carried an official platinum price of $618 each.

Bruce Springsteen is seen here performing in 2021. He’ll be touring with the E Street band in 2023, including a stop at the Greensboro Coliseum.

As of Friday, some Verified Resale tickets could be bought for less than $200, according to the Ticketmaster site for the Greensboro concert .

Nancy Halloran described her experience in an email.

“When the 2023 concert was announced, I registered as a Verified Bruce Fan and followed all the instructions to sign on to Ticketmaster to buy two tickets when they went on sale,” the Greensboro woman said via email.

“When I logged in on Friday (July 22),” Halloran said, “I was put in the ‘waiting room’ before 10 a.m. At around 10:03, I received notice that I was in the queue and there were 2000+ people ahead of me.”

“I was given the opportunity to buy tickets at 10:30,” Halloran said. “I clicked on section 108 and was displayed tickets in that section for less than $300, our target price. I clicked to buy the seats and seconds later received notice that those seats had been bought by someone else.

“From that point on, I tried to find two tickets for $300 or less for at least an hour. Tickets were going for varying prices, all over $1,200 each. I logged out and back in several times until 2 p.m. when the sale closed.”

“Tickets in the upper arena and many sections of the lower arena were not accessible until a couple of hours later,” she said. “At one point I was shown tickets in the Upper Arena BEHIND THE STAGE. Even those tickets were more than $300.”

“We gave up and decided we would not be attending this concert,” Halloran said.

Jim Riddle of High Point bought tickets for his family — he, his wife and their two teenage children.

“His music has been a part of our lives since my wife and I started dating,” Riddle said via email. “Told her I would marry her to “Should I Fall Behind” at the coliseum. Proposed to that song. First dance at our wedding.”

“If not for this possibly being the last tour, we wouldn’t have spent $1,744,” Riddle said. “As much as we love him and his music, we’re disappointed as well. If there is a farewell tour after this, I feel I can say with certainty we won’t be going because it just won’t be feasible to justify whatever that will eventually cost. $350 a ticket was a one-time deal. Never again at that cost or more.”

They ended up in Section 123, Row HH.

For Riddle and others, Ticketmaster didn’t gain many new fans.

“Ticketmaster is claiming that the majority of tickets were bought at face value,” Halloran said. “LOL — they don’t advertise ticket prices anymore ahead of the on sale date. So what is ‘face value?’”

Said Riddle: “So, when you log on, even as a “Verified Fan” you have no way of knowing how much tickets will be.”

“You have an allotted amount of time to get your ticket so it can quickly turn into an all or nothing decision,” Riddle said. “$350 bucks for one ticket, better decide quick because the seat(s) you clicked on got bought before you could check out or take a moment to decide if you want to spend that kind of money.”

Added Villas: “I still love Bruce. I still hate Ticketmaster,” she said. “I really want people to make money doing this, but it is all too much for me.”

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Over 20,000 people showed up to see Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform at the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday night.

The 20,043-person crowd was the 11th largest crowd at any event in the history of the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Triad always flocks to see the legendary artist perform as Springsteen now boasts three of the top 20 largest crowds in Greensboro Coliseum history to his name.

Over 19,000 people came to see him perform in Greensboro in 2002 and over 18,000 people did so in 2009.

Springsteen is no stranger to the Triad either as Saturday’s concert marked his ninth performance in Greensboro, including a two-night stand in 1985 that brought out over 30,000 fans.

Springsteen At The Rhino – The Authorized Version

Posted by John Hammer | Mar 24, 2023 | Editorials , News

Springsteen At The Rhino – The Authorized Version

With Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band playing at the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday night, there are bound to be tales told about the night The Boss played at The Rhinoceros Club in downtown Greensboro.

A host of people of a certain age claim to have been in that small club in 1985 when Springsteen took the stage.  Most of them weren’t, but I was and remember it pretty well.

John Rudy, the owner of the Rhino Club, had booked the Del Fuegos for that Thursday night, and at the time they were a hot, up-and-coming band.  Bruce Springsteen and his band were playing to a sold-out crowd at the 20,000 seat Greensboro Coliseum the next night.

As one would expect, the E Street Band are into bands, but what might not be expected is that they are also an unpretentious and polite group.  They wanted to see the Del Fuegos but had been told that the Rhino was a private club, and members of the band called several times during the afternoon to make sure they could get in.

I was working the door that night and had been told that the E Street Band said they were coming, but there was no mention of Bruce Springsteen.   I was looking out for a limousine or a tour bus, but the guys in the band, including Springsteen, walked over from their hotel.

They arrived early and played pool at the back of the club for a couple of hours before the Del Fuegos took the stage.  The Boss was drinking Moosehead and, as one might expect, there was a sudden run on Moosehead that night and we ran out.

Once the band started playing, Springsteen went to sit in a booth.  Even without the advantage of cell phones, the word had gone out that Bruce Springsteen was at the Rhino and the crowd was somewhat larger than usual. Because the statute of limitations has run out, I might add “way above legal capacity,” or you might say packed in like sardines.  Because of the crowd, even though the E Street guys had arrived early and commandeered a good booth, they couldn’t see the stage, so Bruce climbed up to sit on top of the booth and watch the band.

One of Rudy’s rules was that nobody sat on top of his booths, and nobody, including band members, ever put a foot on his bar.  One of my jobs was to tell people they couldn’t sit on top of the booths, but, well, that was Bruce Springsteen, so my executive decision was that The Boss could sit wherever he wanted.

Let me add that, at this point, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band had been in the Rhino Club, drinking beer, shooting pool and generally hanging out for about three hours.

After Bruce had been sitting on top of the booth for a while, Rudy called me over and said, “Don’t you see that guy sitting on my booth?”

I said, “Rudy, do you know who that is?”

Rudy looked across the room at Bruce Sprinsteen and said, “No idea.”

I said, “That’s Bruce Springsteen.”

Rudy said, “He’s not really here.  That’s just a rumor you and Paul started to fill the place up.”

I said, “No, that’s Bruce in the flesh.  He’s been here all afternoon.”

I started to add, and you’ve served him at least three beers, but didn’t.

Rudy said, “Do you think Bruce is going to be a regular?”

I said, “I doubt it.”

Rudy said, “Then go tell him to get off of my booth.”

I went over and, on my best behavior, said, “Bruce, we don’t let people sit on top of the booths.”

He said, “I can’t see anything from down there.”

I said, “I know, but if we let you sit up here pretty soon people will be on top of everything.

He said, “OK,” and got down.

A little while later, Bruce and some members of the E Street Band took the stage and played three songs, and for what is said to be the only time in the history of the Rhino Club, Rudy allowed people to sit and stand on the booths and even stand on his bar.  Of course, at that point the place was so packed there really wasn’t anywhere else to stand and the guy who was supposed to be at door keeping people out was himself standing on top of a booth.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Great story, john hammer!!’

Sounds great–now maybe I can forgive ‘The Boss’ for sacking his scheduled concert back when the ‘Fit hit the shan’ over the bathroom debacle; Bruce was one of the first to sanctimoniously jump on the ‘Boycott North Carolina’ bandwagon, doing immense harm to a LOT of folks–not only the concert ticket holders, but the Coliseum vendors, hotels, restaurants–the city of Greensboro, itself, since beaucoups of $$$ were NOT going to be spent come concert time. Of course, Bruce also set a precedent for a bunch of self-righteous defenders of males going into women’s bathrooms, to follow his lead while they made sure the media bathed them in praise for their ‘principles’. So, yeah, this tale is a good ‘un, but the Bruce? I’ll have to think about it.

Include me in on this one. I don’t care what entertainers political beliefs are, I just want to enjoy their work. If they choose to shove their political opinions at me, that’s their privilege in this country; but, I don’t have to encourage them, do I? So most entertainers are now on my s*&t list. I don’t need any of them. I am not that weak.

We had five seats for Circe de Soliel a while back. They canceled their concert because of NC politics. They have been here since – I missed it.

For what it’s worth “for what is said to be the only time in the history of the Rhino Club, Rudy allowed people to sit and stand on the booths and even stand on his bar.” isn’t entirely accurate. On June 26, 1993, John Rudy allowed Mrs. Sandy Glenn (bride of John Glenn) to stand on the Rhino’s bar during her reception. Check Rhino Tiimes Vol III No 28 and see the evidence here https://photos.app.goo.gl/5S2RcpxZJRTu4BQg6 .

Thanks! jwg

They were gentlemanly and well behaved, not arrogant and rude like so many “stars”. Good for them! And Moosehead is the best Canadian beer.

I remember you were not even allowed to have your feet on the booths. So miss that bar.

Bruce Springsteen’s recording career spans over 40 years, beginning with 1973's ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). He has released 18 studio albums, garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor, and was MusiCares’ 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen’s memoir ‘Born to Run’ (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album ‘Chapter and Verse’ were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November last year. Springsteen’s The River Tour 2016 was named the year’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar. ‘Born to Run’ will be issued in paperback by Simon & Schuster this September.

Columbus 4/21/24

Excellent show! It was over 3 hours of awesome talent! My husband is the Springsteen fan…and now I am! What a legend. We are looking to see him again when he comes back to the states in the fall!

Non-stop entertainment from start to finish

I just read a review from someone saying it was awful at the Columbus Show. Not sure we were at the same event. I guess Bruce didn't play something they wanted him to play. This was my 31st Springsteen concert, that's pales in comparison to others I know. In the last nine months I have attended 12 live music events from Jackson Browne to God Smack to name a couple. Non of them played exactly what I was hoping for. But I was still entertain and found joy in all of them. But to say they were awful because of it, is wrong. I was in awe and entertained from begining to end. Thank you Bruce and E Street. I hope to see you again, down the road.

Bruce did not disappoint!!

I have been to a number of Bruce’s concerts over the past 40 years. The show in Syracuse on 4/18/24 may be my favorite. The atmosphere reminded me of the Born in the USA tour … it was electric. I truly enjoyed every moment of the show. Set list was great. Bruce Springsteen has provided the musical backdrop for my entire life and I felt I had to be there for what may be the last time. Thanks for the memories Bruce !

Columbus, OH show awful

Ive been to several Bruce shows that were phenomenal. The show on 4/21 in Columbus was awful. Set list stunk. No GloryDays or Born in the USA??? Awful

Saw Bruce at MVP on April 16. The whole night from the moment he came on the stage was electric. Most amazing concert I have seen. Hungry Heart began and the whole arena was so in tune with singing a quarter of the song before Bruce began. Best night ever!

Unbelievable experience

Saw Bruce at MVP arena in Albany last night unbelievable experience . He had the 17,500 sold out arena mesmerized with his performance. Pay whatever you have to it’s an experience of a lifetime. FYI im not a plant just a huge fan of Bruce

The Boss Does Not Disappoint

I saw Bruce Springsteen last year at the C, and man…That was a show. Never in my life have I see the level of devotion and love as I saw at that concert. Bruce was great, and his live shows are second to none…It really did feel like a crusade! The price was high, but worth the cost

Born to Run

Ive seen Bruce 5 times since 2012.hopefully 6 in Aug.my favorite song Born to Run. When he hits that stage, starts playing his guitar, starts singing, then looks out at the audience and smiles.my heart melts.hes that magnet to his folliwers, pulling them in .

I've been to 33

September 1980 We were stunned walking 2 miles back to our car in silence. 32 times after. I was there opening the Staple Center next to a couple who flew in for the show from Germany. Last time in 2013. Had to go to 2 or 3 shows because I couldn't not be there. I'm 77 now and I'm going one more time. He never comes to Vegas and I'm done going to Phoenix or LA for a concert. He is a small remnant of the 1980 version but his there even if the energy is less.

The band and Bruce sound amazing. What a great show!!
