Guide provided in Agra; we had one of the few female guides in the industry who was lovely and a guide provided at the location on the way back. Only suggestion would be for the company to have Delhi based driver or provide the driver with accommodation prior and after pick up of guests.

Taj Mahal, Tiger and Pink City

The tour allows you to see lot of India in short time and gives you a great start to the country. The itinerary was very varied. Our driver was always happy, cheerful as well as professional. All the hotels were nice with a great variety of breakfast included. For me the trip was fantastic everything was extremely well organised and was the perfect mix of cultural immersion, nature and other activities. Overall very very happy.

Emperor Babur, the First Mughal Emperor of India, had built a series of 11 gardens in the eastern floodplains of the River Yamuna. The first of these gardens being the Ram Bagh and the last being the Mehtab Bagh.

The Crescent shaped garden was discovered to be the perfect viewing point for the Taj Mahal by Emperor Shah Jahan and then was reconstructed as the Mehtab Bagh or the Moonlight garden. It was then, that the garden was also installed with walkways, pools, pavilions, fountains and fruit trees.

Ironically, the garden itself posed a threat to the maintenance of the Taj Mahal after its condition deteriorated, as sands from the garden’s ground used to fly towards the mausoleum with wind.

3. Red Fort, Agra

Mughal Emperor Akbar, the greatest Mughal ruler of India, had constructed this red sandstone structure over the ruins of Badalgarh. The fort existed before Emperor Akbar, but it was renovated into a red sandstone structure by him.

Agra was the administrative capital of the Mughal Empire, and this fort got its importance from there. The fort not only housed the royal family but also became the administrative and the military centre.

The fort which is spread over the area of 97 acres is believed to have around 5000 buildings built by Emperor Akbar in Gujarati and Bengali style of architecture. However, very few of these buildings survived through time, as each successive ruler changed the elements of the fort according to their needs and choice.

Emperor Shah Jahan built many marble palaces in the fort, including three marble mosques, namely, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid and Mina Masjid and can be visited with the 1 Day Agra & Fatehpur Sikri private Tour.

The fort has many more stories to tell, like that of imprisonment of Emperor Shah Jahan in the Musamman Burj by his own son, Emperor Aurangzeb.

Itimad-Ud-Daulah is also a mausoleum, just like the Taj Mahal, which is often referred to as ‘Baby Taj’ or ‘a draft of the Taj’ because of their similar architecture and design.

It too is made of white marble and has beautifully carved walls, jewelled with semi-precious stones. It is also called ‘jewel box’ because of the semi-precious stones its walls are laden with. It is the first Mughal monument to be made up from white marble.

Itimad-Ud-Daulah was the title of Mirza Ghiyas Beg who was Nur Jahan’s father. Nur Jahan was Emperor Jahangir’s wife and was the one who got the mausoleum built.

It is a place that not many people are able to reach and thus, remains largely unexplored. With a lesser crowd and a more enchanting history, it is definitely a must visit in our day trip.

5. Fatehpur Sikri, Agra

India's Generations x are called trendy conservatives. They dress fashionably and listen to the latest western pop music, but few are able to break out of parental control. In Rajasthan the most visible group are the Rajputs — the warriors representing different noble houses — like the Kachhawahas of Jaipur, the Rathods of Jodhpur and the Sisodias of Mewar. Together with the brahmins they constitute less than a tenth of Rajasthan's population. At a distance of 1 km from Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station, Buland Darwaza or the Gate of Magnificence serves as the main entrance to the Jama Masjid Complex Fort in Fatehpur Sikri of Uttar Pradesh. This massive gate is the highest gateway in the world and it was built in 1576 AD by Akbar to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. Buland Darwaza is an astounding example of the Mughal architecture. It is made of red and buff sandstone, decorated by white and black marble. One needs to climb a flight of 42 steps in order to reach the gateway, which stands tall at a height of 40 m. At a distance of 1 km from Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station, Jama Masjid or Jami Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India and situated on the highest point of the ridge in Fatehpur Sikri Complex. This Palace was constructed by Akbar for his favorite wife, Jodha Bai who was a Rajput Princess. According to history, after Akbar conquered Malwa he faced strong resistances from the Rajput kings. Akbar dealt with the problem diplomatically, allowing them to keep their kingdoms and getting into marriage alliances with the princess of the Rajput clan. 5 Panch Mahal

At a distance of 1 km from Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station, Panch Mahal is five-storey architectural monument located on the northeast direction of Jodha Bai's palace inside the Fatehpur Sikri Fort Complex of Uttar Pradesh. Panch Mahal was built by Emperor Akbar primarily used as a recreational and pleasure palace by the queens and the other ladies of the court. This is also known as badgir or the wind tower. This pillared pavilion is made of red sand stone comprising of five pavilions, each of which is connected to the next floor by a flight of stairs. The ground floor of the building is made up of 84 pillars that supports the entire structure. As one climbs up the Panch Mahal, the size of the pavilions becomes smaller and the number of pillars supporting the upper floor decreases in number. At a distance of 1 km from Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station, Hiran Minar is located close to Caravanserai in Fatehpur Sikri Fort. It is believed that Akbar built Hiran Tower in the memory of his favorite elephant, Hiran. Alternatively, it is also believed that this tower served as a mile post and a light house for the night travelers. With a height of 21.34 m, Hiran Minar is octagonal at the ground level and circular to the rest of the tower. This is built over an octagonal platform, which in turn stands on a square base. This tower is decorated with an alternate row of hexagons and six point stars. Earlier, elephant tusks were placed emerging from the center of each star, which are now replaced with stone tusks. The tower is entered through a flat-topped door bordered by sand stone panel and flanked by closed arched panels. There are 53 steps leading to the top inside the tower. At a distance of 1.5 km from Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station, Archaeological Museum is situated about 100 m from Diwan-i-Am in Fatehpur Sikri Fort. The structure housing the Archaeological Museum is known as Treasury Building, a centrally protected monument. It was built during Akbar's period. It was in a dilapidated condition and Archaeological Survey of India restored it extensively during 2002-04. The Museum showcases both pre-Mughal and Mughal artifacts excavated at Fatehpur Sikri.
