Taylor Swift's daily routine

Updated Jan. 25, 2023

Taylor Swift Daily Routine

Whether you’re her No. 1 fan or the sound of her voice makes you cringe, there’s one thing you have to admit: Taylor Swift is a very accomplished lady. A singer, songwriter, successful entrepreneur, and health and wellness guru, Tay Tay (one of the star's nicknames) has made a name for herself.

At 15, Taylor signed her first record deal. She’s won a total of 10 Grammy Awards (certainly no small feat), and to date, she has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, making her one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. In addition, eight of her songs have reached the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100, and her concert tours are among the highest-grossing in history.

There’s no denying that Taylor Swift has achieved great success — and immense wealth — but it’s important to note that this success wasn’t handed to her on a silver platter.

Tay Tay has worked her tail off to get where she is today. In the early days of her career, when she was just a teen, Taylor would meet with accomplished songwriters, like Liz Rose, every Tuesday for songwriting sessions, which would last for about two hours − after attending a full day of school.

She’s as hard-working and dedicated today as she was back then, and she doesn’t seem to show any signs of stopping.

Needless to say, Taylor Swift leads a hectic life. From performing in front of sold-out crowds to jet-setting with celebrity buddies, she’s constantly on the go. So, wondering how she does it all? Here’s a day in the life of one of the most famous pop singers, business owners, and fitness influencers.

Coming up next

Coming up next

Taylor wakes at 7 a.m. This is typical for the average adult (even though her life is anything but “average”).

Immediately after she rises, she makes herself a cup of tea and toast and spends time bonding and playing with her beloved kitties, Olivia and Meredith. Usually, Swift is out all evening and into the night and often doesn’t return until the wee hours of the morning.

Because her feline friends are left alone for quite a while (they are very well cared for, of course), Taylor prioritizes spending time with each of them to ensure they know how loved they are.

After breakfast and a kitty cuddle sesh, Taylor gets into workout mode. Exercise is vital to her, so she makes sure that she always makes room in her schedule to get to the gym and that has enough time to get back to her New York apartment to get cleaned up and look presentable before she heads out for the day. Then, when she’s ready, Swift usually grabs lunch with some friends.

People haven't always been there for me, but music always has. ~Taylor Swift

In the afternoons, Taylor Swift gets down to business. She has many obligations to attend to, and this is the time of the day when she deals with a lot of the red tape, meeting with studio execs to discuss themes and song choices for new albums, concerts, etc.

After handling business matters, Taylor often meets up with friends – both in-person and digitally (she’s known to use Skype).

In the afternoons, she often dedicates time to baking. Believe it or not, she’s a big baking fan and loves whipping up batches of goodies and delivering them to neighbors and strangers when she gets the chance.

The evening hours are Taylor's busiest time of the day, as many of her concerts take place at night.

Before hitting the stage — if she's performing that night — she does a sound-check with a few songs, practices her moves, and gears up for her performance.

After rehearsal, she makes sure to grab a bite to eat, so she’s energized for the upcoming show. Then, it’s on to singing and dancing for enormous crowds in some of the world's biggest arenas and concert venues.

When the show’s over, Swift always makes a point of meeting a few lucky fans, inviting them to come backstage and hang out with her. Then, after meet-and-greets and signing autographs, Taylor heads home, unwinds for a while, posts photos on social media, and by around 1:30 am, she calls it a night.

A Look Inside Taylor Swift’s Philly Weekend: Where She Stayed, Where She Dined & More

  • Print this page

Philadelphia was Swift City this weekend, as the pop star performed three sold-out shows.

But -- there's no way Taylor only performed while she was in town, and we think that we've FINALLY pieced together everything about Taylor's time back home in Pennsylvania.

Like: where did she stay? Where did she eat?

Plus, what A-Listers visited Philly for the concerts? We did our best to find it all out.

Friday, May 12 - Taylor Swift Arrives in Philadelphia

It sounds like Taylor Swift arrived in Philly via a private jet around 1 p.m. on Friday. She arrived on the jet with her parents and boyfriend Matty Healy. That exclusive info came from the incredible PhillyChitChat, who always seems to know what's going on around town.

PhillyChitChat reported that the "Karma" singer went immediately to the stadium for a soundcheck, where she stayed for the duration of the evening.

STARS COME OUT FOR TAYLOR SWIFT IN PHILLY

There was an internet rumor that said she ordered cheesesteaks for the production crew following Friday night's concert, but that appears to have been false. We have not been able to confirm those screenshots that were circulating on the web.

Swift's concert wrapped around 11:15 p.m. She checked into the  Ritz-Carlton Hotel early Saturday morning (around 2 AM) . We tried our best to find out where Swift may have eaten dinner Friday night, but that also was not immediately clear.

SURPRISE SONGS: All of the Taylor Swift Philly Surprises

It is, however, probably safe to assume that Taylor did something after the show given the fact that she checked into her hotel so late. The show wrapped at 11 p.m.

One of her best friends Blake Lively was in the crowd (with her kids) so perhaps they met up after the show? In fact, Taylor was seen leaving the stage area shortly after the concert with Blake and the girls:

It's not clear where they went after departing the stage.

Saturday, May 13 - Taylor Swift Stays at the Ritz Carlton

Meanwhile, after Saturday night's show Taylor had dinner at Jean-George's, which is located on the 59th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel inside the Comcast Center.

Curious about what Taylor ate? You can  view their usual menu here and guess for yourself.

It is not clear who Taylor had dinner with, but it sounds like the "Cruel Summer" singer received a police escort for the meal. Sources say that Swift returned to her hotel around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, PhillyChitChat reports.

The Ritz Carlton is located on Broad Street in Center City Philadelphia.

Sunday, May 14 - Taylor Swift Leaves Philadelphia

As for Sunday, PhillyChitChat's sources say that Taylor checked out of the hotel around 2 p.m. That's when she headed to the Linc for her final sold-out show.

Immediately following the concert, Taylor flew back to New York City via a private jet,  PhillyChitChat reports . However, It was unclear if anyone accompanied her on the trip out of Philadelphia (like Matty Healy, her parents, etc).

Thanks PhillyChitChat for keeping us in the know!

Are you ready for it? 10 tips for navigating Taylor Swift's Eras Tour like a travel pro

Just after successfully unifying an NFL stadium full of Swifties in scream-singing the bridge to "Cruel Summer" – and slightly before launching into a strummed version of "Lover" on her teal guitar – Taylor Alison Swift paused to pose a question to the crowd in Arlington, Texas .

“How many of you had to travel to be here?”

A roar erupted from the stadium.

“That was everybody,” Taylor joked to the sold-out AT&T stadium, normally home to the Dallas Cowboys football team. “Every single person here put in a large amount of effort to be in this room.”

GettyImages-1478625484.jpg

While Visit Arlington told me figures on the full economic impact of “concert tourism” to see Taylor in Texas are not in, the city does know that it generated a record-breaking attendance weekend for the stadium. Three nights of sold-out shows brought more than 210,000 fans to the stadium, an average of 70,000 each night.

I’m one of those fans – having traveled two weekends hoping to see "Out of the Woods" performed live. My first choice when I entered the certified fan program for Taylor Swift tickets was the closest stadium to my home: Glendale, Arizona . I was lucky enough to receive a presale code…for Las Vegas, Nevada .

My reaction? 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... let’s go ... Taylor. (This is a family publication.)

Taylor herself recognizes all too well that her record-breaking crowds for The Eras Tour are made possible by her fans' willingness to travel. She made a similar announcement at her Las Vegas show, spending a few moments thanking fans not only for fighting through the great Ticketmaster debacle of 2022, but also for their dedication to follow her wherever their tickets might go.

So, if you’ve made several friendship bracelets and bedazzled a jean jacket, as well as planned your outfit to match your favorite era, this concert travel guide is dedicated to you (including and especially for those of you coming from outside the US).

GettyImages-1476134561.jpg

I offer these credentials beyond being an editor at Lonely Planet. My Spotify wrapped once put me in the top 5% of Taylor Swift streams, and I’ve traveled to two concerts, sitting in both the worst seat (hi, obstructed view in Allegiant stadium thanks to the non-information on Ticketmaster’s website) and the poshest (thank you to Visit Arlington for the invite to sit in a box) in the stadium.

arlington_texas_taylormelissamaggie.jpg

I can tell you no matter where you sit – the show is thrilling. It's a nonstop singalong for 3.5 hours, and even if you are a moderate fan, you’ll leave the show with the utmost respect for her performance and sheer athleticism, awed by how she can do that spectacular of a performance several nights in a row.

Here’s what I’ve learned from my experience to help you travel like a pro for this already-legendary tour. Are you ready for it?

How far in advance should you get there?

Having done both a 5-day visit to Vegas and a quick 36-hour turnaround to Arlington, I’d say the happy medium is getting there at least a day in advance. You’ll have time to hit up the merch truck (more on that later) before the show, but also you’ll have time to experience the city beyond Taylor.

Go out on the town and see what it has to offer. Make reservations at a local restaurant and check out the area's cultural offerings, nightlife and shopping. For me, that ranged from Mayfair Supper Club in Vegas to Tiki bars and speakeasies in Arlington.

lasvegas_nevada_taylorobstructedview.jpg

Where to stay

Robust public transit is hard to find in American cities – especially that far west of the Mississippi. So, when 60-80,0000 people exit a stadium, be forewarned it is a massive traffic jam requiring patience, whether you drive yourself or use a ride-sharing service.

In Las Vegas, we stayed at Park MGM which is a 1.7-mile walk (2.7 km) from Allegiant Stadium. In Arlington, we stayed at Live by Loews which is .9 miles (1.4 km)  from AT&T stadium. In both instances, the traffic was so bad after the concert that even though we had initially planned to grab a ride back, we decided instead to walk, and it was much faster.

Though walking in the US can sometimes be challenging safety-wise, in Las Vegas, the city closed the street to car traffic for the concert, making it easy for crowds of fans to make it back to their respective hotels.  In Arlington, our accommodations were close enough to the stadium that we were able to weave our way through the parking lot and onto a pathway straight to the hotel.

lasvegas_nevada_taylorcrowdsafter.jpg

How to get to the stadium

Some cities have shuttles and/or public transit to the stadium, but often people are arriving by car.

If you ride share, most of the stadiums limit pick-off and drop-off to one central location. There are TikTok videos of people at the Glendale, Arizona concert waiting at the Carl’s Jr fast food restaurant across the street from the stadium for hours waiting for an Uber or Lyft.

In short, it is a mess. That’s why I think it’s key if you can swing it, book a hotel close enough to walk.

Arlington_texas_fanswalktohotel.jpg

What to pack (Taylor’s version)

Taylor performs 44 songs over a span of 3.5 hours and part of the time she is in custom Christian Louboutin crystal heels that some on TikTok speculated could cost upward of $10,000. To me, singing for that long while dancing the length of a football field in heels is further proof she is not mortal.

And, though I know you want your Eras fit to look perfect, let me encourage you to be sensible about your footwear.

I saw a parade of people struggling after the show. Some ditched their shoes and walked barefoot home along the Vegas strip. I think of them to this day. I hope they are ok and don’t have some weird, unidentifiable foot fungus.

My suggestion if you don’t want to go out of style: bring socks/flip flops in your clear bag so you can change into them when the show starts. Then change back at the end. Your feet are saved and you still look amazing.

Know the clear bag policy

And speaking of clear bags, if you’re traveling from outside the United States, let me flag this for you: read the stadium bag policy before you go in.

Most stadiums require bags to comply with the NFL clear bag policy. That means, your bag must be clear plastic or else an obscenely small size (typically a clutch measuring 4 x 6 inches (10 x 15 centimeters).

You can purchase one of these on Amazon (here’s the one I have ) or box stores like Target and Walmart – just make sure it is clear and it is NFL stadium approved (meaning it falls under the approved dimensions of NFL stadiums which are typically 12 x 6 x 12 inches (30 x 15 x 30 centimeters).

Yes, I know these bags are ugly and there are (many) arguments to be made about the sexism/ableism involved with the policy. But no matter how much you want to –  don’t decorate the bag either – or you may be headed back to the car or worse, dumping it in the trash.

Check the stadium policy for what you are allowed to bring in as well

Again, make sure you read your respective stadium policies. Some allow external charges for cell phones – some do not. Some will let you bring in a bottle of water, some will not. Check the policy on the website for the stadium you are attending.

Lots of people are making friendship bracelets to trade. That seems to be ok but I’d be careful how many you plan to take in (limit to the size of your clear bag). I saw this TikTok from a woman in Australia who planned to bring little stuffed koalas to hand out and my first thought was – super cute but I wonder if they’ll let her in the stadium with those?

Overall–less is more when it comes to packing your bag for the show.

Digital is king for this show – bring your phone and a credit card.

In order to prevent scammers, you have to download the Ticketmaster app and produce your ticket from there. Screenshots of your ticket will not work. If you’re traveling with a group of people – make sure everyone has the app on their phone and you transfer the ticket to them in case you get separated.

For those of you traveling from overseas, know that to pay for things in the stadium you’ll likely need to use a credit card. Cash is rarely accepted.

My advice on the lengthy merch line

The lines for merch before the concert are epic. In Las Vegas, the line snaked almost a mile long with people telling us they had been waiting since 6am when we showed up at 2pm.

lasvegas_nevada_taylormerch2.jpg

I would say 90% of the merch I saw at the show was available online on Taylor’s website save a couple of unique hoodies (which of course was the one I wanted).

If you don’t have patience for this – wait until after the show, Taylor’s team sends out an online code for 15% off good for 24 hours. You can get what you want and have it shipped to your home.

Be a mastermind to score tickets while savoring a new city

While tickets were scooped up quickly when they went on sale, it's not impossible to get tickets on the second-hand market -- especially if you are willing to wait days, hours or even minutes before the show starts.

And don't rule out heading to a lesser-known city. It’s easy and exciting to go to a place like Chicago or Los Angeles for one of the shows, but I love some of the second-tier cities for a fun weekend getaway.

For instance, Taylor closes out her US tour with multiple concert dates at Los Angeles’ impressive SoFi stadium starting August 3, but I also love the idea of Minneapolis which is always a spectacular summer destination with June 23 & 24 concert dates. Cincinnati (June 30 & July 1), Detroit (June 9 & 10) and Pittsburgh (June 16 & 17) might also be some fun new places to check out where the visit of a big star like Taylor might set the city abuzz.

Start plotting for a European tour

The show is pure theater, filled with so much joy and energy between Taylor and her fans, and in my opinion, completely worth the steep price of admission. It's clear Taylor's team realizes that this is a memorable moment for her fans, and the show meets that moment.

With rumors swirling that Taylor could announce her European tour dates soon, I'm already mentally doing the budget to see if I could swing a hop across the pond. With a new excuse to travel and see Taylor with my European friends, I can't wait to see what cities and dates are announced.

Taylor Swift 'doesn't leave her bed for a full day' to recover from Eras Tour shows

Taylor Swift has been named Time's " Person of the Year ," and in her in-depth interview for the magazine, she detailed her life on the road for her extremely popular Eras Tour .

The now billionaire performer thanked her fans for their devotion as she closed out the first year of the tour, which has seen her play 66 shows already.

Swift kicked off her sixth headlining tour in March with a North American leg that included 53 concerts in 18 states.

In the second leg, the Bad Blood singer headed south for sold-out shows in Mexico , Argentina and Brazil , where the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer even dressed up for the occasion .

Swift's 2023 Eras Tour wrapped with back-to-back shows in São Paulo.

However, when Swift wasn't jumping from city to city and taking to the stage for three hours, she was holed up in bed, barely moving.

The Eras Tour serves as a retrospective of Swift's nearly 20-year career.

Each concert features Swift performing a whopping 44 songs.

Fans are in love but exhausted once it's all over. Imagine how Swift feels, and she has to do it every weekend.

To withstand it all mentally and physically, Swift needed to prepare well before she even hit the road.

In her Person of the Year interview, the songwriter opened up about her arduous preparations for the shows.

Before the tour started, Swift would sing through the entire set list while on a treadmill every day for six months.

"Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs," she explained.

Three months out, she started working on her dancing. "I wanted to get it in my bones," she said, admitting that "learning choreography is not my strong suit."

On the tour, she gave up drinking completely, adding: "I don't want to know that world," referring to performing a show hungover.

Swift also admitted she used to perform "like a frat guy," but knew training would pay off for the Eras Tour.

"I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans and not lose my train of thought," she said.

After a weekend of shows is over, recovery quickly began and was never missed.

"I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there," Swift said of the day after. "It's a dream scenario. I can barely speak because I've been singing for three shows straight.

"Every time I take a step, my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels," she added.

Then, for the rest of the week leading up to the next shows, she started her workouts.

In her message to fans on Instagram, Swift wrote: "Bringing a tour to Brazil has been something I've dreamt of for years, and those fans blew my expectations away.

"We've officially wrapped up the 2023 Eras Tour and we got to end the year with 6 shows in Rio and São Paulo, with the most magical crowds."

The singer-songwriter went on to express her gratitude to her team for their hard work and spoke excitdly about what's to come next year.

She concluded: "Really just feeling so proud and moved by what I got to be a part of. See you in 2024."

There's no keeping up with Swift now that she's on a roll.

Here’s How Taylor Swift Got in Shape for Her Absolutely Grueling Eras Tour

By Jenna Ryu

Taylor Swift performing at Eras Tour

There’s no way you can watch footage of Taylor Swift’s electrifying Eras Tour —where she performs for roughly three straight hours per show—and not wonder how on earth she managed to pull off such an impressive feat of physical and mental endurance. Now we have our answer: She recently revealed the details of a strategic workout (and self-care) routine that’s pure Taylor.

In an interview with Time magazine published Wednesday, Swift described how exactly she prepared to sing, dance, and jump around for hours on end. Six months ahead of her first Eras Tour performance, she started running on the treadmill every day while singing the entire 40-plus-songs set list—“fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs,” she explained. Her gym, Dogpound, also created a special program—just for her—that incorporated strength, conditioning, and weight exercises. “Then I had three months of dance training, because I wanted to get it in my bones,” she added.

Another change she made: “I stopped drinking for a couple months before the show,” Swift said, with the exception of Grammys night. (“I gave myself a fun night for that one,” she added.) Swift kept up the no-alcohol commitment throughout the entire 2023 tour too, she said, because “doing that show with a hangover…I don’t want to know that world.”

As essential as Swift’s pre-tour boot camp was, her post-show rest period was just as crucial. With performances often scheduled back-to-back for three days in a row, she said she cherished what she called her “dead day”: a full 24 hours to give her body a much-needed break by, yep, doing nothing . “I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there,” she said, calling it a “dream scenario.”

Ultimately, it seems like this balance of training and recovery allows her to keep bringing her A-game for fans. “I know I’m going on that stage whether I’m sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable, or stressed,” explained Swift, who’s now preparing for the 2024 international shows. “That’s part of my identity as a human being now.”

The luxurious hotels Taylor Swift frequents on tour

Katie Skelly

This week, Taylor Swift kicked off her Reputation Tour, which will see her perform 51 shows around the world. So, in which hotels will the megastar stay?

You can be sure there was no sleeping in cramped buses. During previous tours, T-Swizzle opted for opulence and grandeur, and this time around is likely to be no different.

As Taylor Swift kicks off her tour in Arizona, we look back on some of her more decadent hotel stays.

Hotel de Crillon

First built in 1758, Hôtel de Crillon boasts an unrivalled position overlooking Place de la Concorde in picturesque Paris.

Since it was originally designed by the architect behind the Palace of Versailles, the hotel closed for refurbishment and reopened as a grand, opulent and truly spectacular manor in 2017 after a $US200 million renovation.

The Hotel de Crillon underwent a huge renovation before reopening in 2017.

Amenities include a full spa and indoor pool, a hair salon, and an intimate dining area with a menu curated by Michelin-star chef, Christopher Hache.

Fancy an aperitif? Enjoy a tipple in the Bar Les Ambassadeurs and take your pick from any of the 213 types of Champagne under a restored, hand-painted ceiling.

Bubbles look better here.

The hotel boasts a handful of suites, each one more extravagant than the last. There’s Les Grands Appartements – two apartments designed by Karl Lagerfeld and  complete with views of Paris landmarks ($US38,000 per night).

The Marie Antoinette suite, named after the decadent French Queen who once took piano lessons in the very same room, is the most expensive of the suites, and will set the guest back $US56,000 per night. Oh, and did we mention that each room comes with a personal butler?

Don’t mind if we do!

Hotel de Russie

This Roman retreat sits just moments away from the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, one of the most popular spots in the Eternal City.

Though the best of Rome sits on the doorstep of this lush hotel, guests typically enjoy spending time in the hotel’s romantic and impeccably-groomed gardens.

We can see why celebs love hanging out here in the gardens.

You see, the Hotel de Russie is known to be a favoured by countless high-profile guests, including Taylor Swift, so you can understand how they would enjoy the privacy on offer.

Those seeking a bit of R&R will be content with the facilities, which include a wellness centre, sauna, Turkish bath and salt-water hydromassage pool.

The Spanish Steps sit on the doorstep of this stunning hotel.

When it comes time to call it a night, a slew of suites will provide you with your best and most stylish night’s sleep yet.

One preferred suite is named after the famed artist Pablo Picasso, who  stayed at Hotel de Russie for three months in 1917.

The Picasso suite’s former occupant will make you feel like you’re sitting among history.

InterContinental Sydney

With sweeping views over the harbour, the Intercontinental offers guests a chance to stay in one of Sydney’s most coveted spots.

The hotel, once the Treasury Building of 1851, is rich in history and even rumoured to maintain secret underground tunnels.

Original detailing bring history to the hotel lobby.

Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, Mel Gibson, Frank Sinatra, Cher and James Bond (well, Daniel Craig) have all stayed here in the luxurious Australia Suite.

The room, which lies on the 29th floor, boasts all the fixings of a five star hotel, but is made extra special by the grand piano (we imagine Taylor found time to bust out a few tunes here).

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to this view?

5 Things To Know Before Seeing Taylor Swift At “The Eras Tour”

Byline photo of Brady Snyder

Taylor Swift is touring for the first time since 2018 and has released four studio albums — Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights — in the five years that followed her Reputation Stadium Tour. Swift announced The Eras Tour on Nov. 1, 2022, just weeks following the announcement of Midnights, her tenth studio album.

The timing of the announcements led some to believe that The Eras Tour would essentially become a Midnights-centric tour, but that wasn’t the case. Swift opened the tour on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona with a 44-track set list that spanned much of her discography to date.

Since a showing of The Eras Tour is a long concert bringing unprecedented fan turnout, you’ll have to consider different things than other concerts when preparing to see Swift on tour.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

The Eras Tour can extend beyond five hours in length when you consider openers, intermissions and Swift’s lengthy performance. Though exact total times will vary based on the openers and final set list at each venue, Swift’s typical set list runs roughly three hours and 13 minutes.

At the March 17 show in Glendale, fans remained on their feet for the entirety of the show, and other showings to date have displayed the same fan involvement. That’ll mean attendees will need to stand up to catch a glimpse of Swift for hours straight, most likely standing on concrete stadiums. To stay comfortable and avoid missing out, wear running shoes, quality sneakers or other sturdy shoes to the concert.

Don’t Stand In Line For The Merch Truck

The Eras Tour has brought incredible demand for tour merchandise, and some items have sold out at showings within minutes of gates opening. Though some merchandise items are available on Swift’s online store , others — like the highly-sought blue crewneck — are exclusive to the tour.

Gates typically open for 6:30 p.m. showings two hours before the scheduled start times. A large merchandise truck usually opens at noon, with lines forming even before that. Though people have suggested standing in line for the merch truck hours before entering the venue, that isn’t the best way to be successful.

Instead, wait in line after passing through the security checkpoint in front of the stadium’s gates. There are a multitude of merchandise stands inside the venue that have stock of all the most popular merchandise items. Waiting in front of the stadium gates will allow you to be the first to enter the venue, all but guaranteeing access to merchandise.

However, keep in mind that not all merchandise stands have the same items available. Be sure to glance at the red tapestry showcasing available items before getting in line to wait.

Bring Earplugs. Seriously.

A ton of people have suggested that concert-goers wear protective earplugs to The Eras Tour shows, and it’s easy to dismiss the idea. Of course, after paying hundreds of dollars to see Swift, attendees want to make sure they are enjoying the atmosphere to the fullest.

Regardless, people going to The Eras Tour should seriously consider wearing earplugs to the concert. It’s not necessarily to protect the wearer’s ears from the sound of Swift’s music — that sound level is about the same as other stadium concerts.

But not many other concerts have more than 70,000 people scream-singing lyrics at the top of their lungs for hours straight. Ever experienced ear pain because someone was screaming in your ear? That’s essentially what The Eras Tour can be, at times.

And yes, you’ll still be able to hear all of Swift’s stunning vocals while wearing ear protection.

Make A Clear Bag Plan Before You Go

Most people attending The Eras Tour will be going to stadiums near their home, and may have attended those venues previously. However, Swift has enacted her own bag policies that may differ from the stadium’s typical policies.

Generally, The Eras Tour has a stringent bag policy that requires all bags to be clear and not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” dimensions. A detailed list of prohibited items for Swift’s showing at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan can be found here , but check with your venue for the exact policy.

To make sure your items are in compliance, make a plan before leaving to ensure nothing gets thrown away at the security checkpoint. It’s important to purchase a clear bag in advance, because prices will be higher at and around the stadium on the day of the showing.

Ready Your Smartphone

The length of Eras Tour shows poses another problem, this time for your phone. Since the concert is upwards of five hours long — and attendees might have to travel before and after with their device — battery is a concern. To combat this, make sure phones are fully charged, low power mode is enabled and brightness is down when possible.

Consider purchasing a portable charger for the event and remember to bring the right cables for your device. This could extend a phone’s life by hours, depending on the portable charger.

For people that plan to record a lot of photos and videos of the concert, check how much storage is left on your smartphone. A photo can take up as many as 25 megabytes of storage, with videos taking up gigabytes of space based on their length. To free up space, upload media to the cloud, save it to a computer or delete unnecessary apps for the time being.

If you’re really in a pinch for space, Android users can utilize expanded storage with a microSD card or a USB-C flash drive. For iPhone users, the Sandisk iXpand flash drive can add up to 256 gigabytes of extra storage.

Enjoy The Show

After fighting tooth-and-nail for concert tickets, you’ve gotten the chance to see The Eras Tour, so follow these tips for the best experience.

Taylor Swift's private jets have spent over 166 hours crisscrossing the US during the singer's colossal Eras tour

  • Taylor Swift's jets spent nearly seven days worth of time in the air during her Eras tour , JetSpy data shows.
  • The singer's jets often flew to Nashville late at night after her concerts wrapped up.
  • Swift has faced backlash in the past from her jet usage, but she appears to have cut back this year.

Insider Today

Gone are the days of old-school tour buses and living on the road. Now, pop stars like Taylor Swift are likely to fly straight home after a concert.

Swift and her two private jets have spent the last several months crisscrossing the US throughout the first leg of her colossal Eras Tour .

The singer has two multi-million dollar planes: a Dassault Falcon 7X, registered N621MM under Island Jet Inc, and a Dassault Falcon 900, registered N898TS under SATA LLC. Both companies are registered to the same address as Taylor Swift Productions in Nashville, according to Tennessee Secretary of State documents.

The Dassault 900 jet can carry up to 12 passengers and requires a two-person crew. The Dassault 7X has a slightly larger cabin, carrying up to 16 passengers, and is designed for longer flights.

Swift appears to have bought both aircraft several years ago. The planes were registered to her holding companies in 2009 and 2018, respectively, according to FAA data. Today, a new Dassault 7X is estimated to cost about $54 million, while a new Dassault 900 has a list price of $44 million, according to Business Jet Traveler.

Since March, the planes have spent nearly seven days worth of time, or about 166 hours, flying to and from Swift's concerts, according to data from aircraft-tracking website JetSpy.

JetSpy aggregates its flight information using ADS-B data that is transmitted from several vendors and networks. ADS-B is a public surveillance technology that broadcasts information like GPS location and altitude from one aircraft to another and to ground stations. The technology made headlines last year when it was used to broadcast Elon Musk's flight data on social media.

Here's a closer look at the flight activity of Swift's jets during the first five months of her Eras tour.

Swift's jets have taken 103 flights this year

Swift's jets have taken a combined 103 flights so far this year — 86 of which have taken place since massive Eras tour kicked off in March.

A spokesperson for Swift told Insider the singer has worked to offset her jets' carbon emissions.

"Before the tour kicked off in March of 2023, Taylor purchased more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel," the spokesperson said. Insider was not able to independently verify this.

Related stories

In 2023, carbon credits cost between $40 to $80 per metric ton of CO2, according to Terrapass , a company that provides carbon offsetting products. Earlier this year, The Washington Post reported that some experts believe the majority of carbon credit programs overestimate their emission reductions.

There is no way of knowing the jets' passengers for any of the flights. Both jets appear to have primarily followed locations along the singer's tour route, which kicked off in Glendale, Arizona, on March 17.

The average flight during the tour has been just under two hours. The shortest flight was an eight-minute hop from a small airport in Van Nuys, California, to Burbank, California, on March 26. (This could have been a pilot repositioning the plane.)

The longest flight was on July 2, when Swift's Dassault 7X jet flew from Groton New London Airport in Connecticut to Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.

The roughly 5-hour flight appeared to be part of a return trip from an airport near one of Swift's houses in Rhode Island.

Swift's jets often made red-eye flights out of concert locations

On multiple occasions, both of Swift's jets made duplicate flights in one day or flew from different locations to the same destination. Swift's Dassault 900 jet typically flew to concerts from her adopted hometown of Nashville, Tennessee — and would head back after the show.

The singer has homes in cities including Nashville, New York, and Beverly Hills, according to The Wall Street Journal .

Throughout the tour, Swift's N898TS jet often departed from tour locations late at night — typically taking off between the hours of 11 p.m. to midnight and landing in Nashville as early as 4:38 a.m. the next day. Most of the late-night flights landed between the hours of midnight and 1:30. a.m.

The second jet — N621MM — mostly followed N898TS, though it also took detours to places like Burbank; Tampa, Florida; and a New Jersey airport located about an hour's drive outside of New York City. Meanwhile, N898TS rarely deviated from the tour schedule.

Swift's tour is far from over

While the first leg of Swift's marathon Eras tour is complete, her days of jet-setting are far from over. The singer has already started touring in Mexico and one of her jets has already made a red-eye flight from Mexico City to Nashville, according to JetSpy data. She will also bring Eras to Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. More recently, Swift announced she would return to the US for another leg of the tour later next year.

Swift is one of the world's highest-paid artists and her tour is set to bring in over $1 billion in sales — making it the highest-grossing tour of all time, according to concert data tracker Pollstar .

While the lengthy tour may excite fans, her jet usage could ignite some criticism.

Last year, data from digital marketing firm Yard found the singer's Dassault 7X private jet emitted over 8,293 metric tons of CO2 in 2022 — or nearly 1,200 times the average person's total yearly emissions, according to the study.

At the time, Swift's spokesperson said that she regularly lent the jets out .

"To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect," the spokesperson told E! News.

It appears Swift has cut back on flights this year. According to the data from JetSpy, her two planes took a combined 138 flights between January 2022 and August 2022, when she wasn't on tour. That compares to the 103 total flights as of August 29 this year.

What Taylor Swift Demands On Tour

Taylor Swift performing

When you're Taylor Swift, selling out stadiums night after night on the Easter Egg-packed "Eras Tour" (and bringing in an eye-watering $13 million per performance in the process), you can certainly make a few demands when it comes to what you need backstage to make you feel comfortable. And, it sounds like Swift is making the most of her star power.

Ahead of Swift's wildly successful "Eras" shows heading down under in February 2024, one Australian journalist shared her backstage requests, known as a rider, with the world. And you may be a little surprised at some of the things she asked for. Showbiz reporter Dean McCarthy told 7News that one of the "Love Story" hitmaker's biggest asks when she's on the road is for an iced Americano from Starbucks to be brought to her every day around 11 a.m. McCarthy also claimed Swift asks for at least one chauffeured silver SUV to drive her around and sometimes even has a decoy car in her entourage to divert attention. As for what she asks for in her dressing room before a show? McCarthy shared that Swift apparently likes to have Red Bull and some macaroni and cheese on hand.

Taylor Swift's rider has changed some since the beginning of her career

Dean McCarthy claimed on 7News that Taylor Swift's show rider is a little more extravagant now than earlier in her career. "[Swift] used to be really humble and chill—she used to just have edamame [beans] and some water and some snacks," he said. "Now, she's gone to another level."

However, we know that's maybe not strictly true. That's because Swift has had a few requests on her rider for a while now. The Smoking Gun posted what it claimed was Swift's rider from back in 2008, which likely would have been used during her "Fearless Tour." The list had quite a collection of different items on it, including at least two things she still asks for today: mac and cheese and Red Bull. Swift also asked for cottage cheese, shredded lettuce, red licorice Twizzlers, and two kinds of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. When it comes to her drink requests before a show, Swift's list included Smart Water, Corona beer, and Diet Coke. She also reportedly slurped on chocolate milk and grape juice.

Flowers and cushions have also been amongst Taylor Swift's dressing room demands

As for what else Taylor Swift has been reported to have asked for in preparation for her shows? Flowers and cushions. Metro claimed that when the star was across the pond in London for Capital FM's Summertime Ball in 2013, she had the biggest dressing room at the venue for her entourage of 16 people (via Digital Spy ). The outlet reported that Swift, or at least her team, had requested white lilies, seemingly to make the dressing room feel a little more like home, as well as cushions emblazoned with the Union Jack flag. Though we're guessing she may forgo those now following her split from Brit Joe Alwyn in 2023.

But Swift herself has admitted that she's actually pretty easy to please when it comes to her backstage requests. When asked by Kiss UK in 2015 what she likes to have behind the scenes at her shows, Swift gave a pretty easy answer. "Fried chicken? That's good to have. I'd pick that. I have water and Diet Coke," she said (via Express ). And that makes total sense, seeing as chicken tenders are the one food she wishes she could eat every single day . If that's what it takes for Swift to put on such a sensational show, we're sure everyone is more than eager to give her anything she wants.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ route explained

The ‘midnights’ singer has mapped out a very specific string of tour locations and dates for her ‘eras tour’..

JL Hodgson

Taylor Swift’s long-awaited ‘Eras Tour’ is well underway, having kicked off March 17, and one fan, who goes by the Twitter handle @theonethatikeep, has posted a map of the singer’s tour stops and an analysis as per Swift’s location and travel choices.

The ‘Eras Tour’ marks the return to the spotlight for Swift, as the singer has taken more than four years away from touring to focus on herself and her art.

Why did Swift schedule her tour like that?

According to the fan, Swift’s choices are attributed to the logistics of stage set-up , while leaving room for unpredictable weather.

The Twitter user posted a comment on Swift’s tour locations and dates, acknowledging the skepticism some fans have had about its coherency, before breaking down the choices in a series of five separate posts.

“Why the order of the tour dates makes sense: At first glance, the stops on the Eras Tour appear to involve a lot of back and forth and look like a logistical nightmare,” @theonethatikeep posted. “The secret is...”

“There are two stages & teams! Let’s call them Stage A and Stage B,” she continued. “They both are being set up, moved, or taken down at any given time, allowing her to perform *every* weekend and give the crew enough time to safely move everything to the next destination.”

The detail is in the map

According to the fan’s analyses, if the tour were mapped any other way, it would be unproductive.

“*If* there were only one stage,” she declared, “this is what the path of the logistics team would look like for the first half of the tour (aghhhhh!). Lots of backtracking and not enough time to move everything while people get enough sleep to safely drive & operate heavy equipment!”

The fan even went so far as posting maps to illustrate the logistics of Swift’s tour choices.

“Here is what the maps look like if you have stage A (left) and stage B (right),” the fan wrote. “The routes make much more sense, and the teams have ~10 days between stops to move everything safely!”

With one more thing to consider – the weather.

“If you add in weather as a factor, you can also see that both teams are in the southern US for the first part of the tour in March/April and are not in the north until May, when the odds of inclement weather are much lower!!” she explained. “Hope that all makes more sense now!”

Taylor Swift fans have reportedly lined up for five months ahead of Argentina shows

Pitchfork reports that hundreds of fans are sharing tents on a meticulously planned schedule to ensure they get the best spot when doors open next week

After a whirlwind excursion around the US that has generated billions of dollars in income and broken records for crowd size and seismic activity , Taylor Swift is taking her Eras tour to South America – and fans have reportedly been lining up for five months.

In Buenos Aires, a cadre of Swifties has been sleeping in tents outside River Plate Stadium, where Swift is set to open her Latin American leg with three shows from 9-11 November.

According to a Pitchfork report , there are four tents and hundreds of fans, with each member taking part in a meticulously planned schedule of rotations to ensure the spaces are occupied at all times. Most fans have secured general admission tickets to the show; the aim is to get as close to the stage as possible when doors open.

“An internal spreadsheet, created by two organizers and updated by assigned administrators, keeps track of around 60 folks per tent,” Pitchfork reports. “Most of them are young women, but no one under 18 is allowed.”

The system includes a set of rules that were leaked online when camping began in June.

Members are required to spend at least one overnight shift in the tents, as well as a minimum 60-hour commitment a month. “No one is mandated to drop their responsibilities altogether” to staff the tents, Pitchfork writes, though fans who have dedicated the most time are more likely to secure better spots at the show.

“We’ve been in this tent for five months,” a 21-year-old Swiftie told the music publication. “I usually tell my dad I’m at a park … or visiting a friend of mine who lives near the stadium.” She requested anonymity to avoid being identified by her father.

Another fan told Pitchfork that her mother was aware of the camping and allowed her to participate as long as she passed her college exams. “The fact that there are so many people makes things easier,” she said. “We all have different schedules, and you fit yours amongst them.”

The group has received harassment and criticism from passersby. “People are very upset with us camping for some reason,” one fan called Carmen told Pitchfork. “Sometimes you’re lying down, and you hear someone scream ‘Go to work!’ at 2am. It’s like, ‘You’re the one who’s outside of a tent shouting … aren’t you supposed to work tomorrow?’”

As a fanbase, Swifties are famously organised: last December, a group of US fans filed a class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster over what they called a “disastrous” experience trying to secure tickets for the Eras tour. The fanbase have also launched campaigns against fashion brands , music critics and Swift’s former partners .

The Eras tour began in March this year and continues through 2024 after its Latin American leg concludes this year.

A concert film released in October – spliced together from three live recordings at Swift’s Los Angeles shows – became the highest-grossing concert film of all time in the US after just one weekend.

Taylor Swift Fans Are Theorizing That Her Song “The Albatross” Is Actually About All That Backlash She And Travis Kelce Faced At The Start Of Their Relationship — Here’s A Full Explainer

“‘You were sleeping soundly when they dragged you from your bed.’ Travis had to move out of his house when they started dating. She still thinks she brings down all her romantic partners and is a burden,” one fan speculated.

Leyla Mohammed

BuzzFeed Staff

Ever since Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department , dropped on April 19, Swifties across the globe have continued speculating who each song is about.

Closeup of Taylor Swift in a sequined dress

If you didn’t know, Taylor famously encourages her fans to figure out who the subjects of her songs are by leaving hints and Easter eggs .

Despite this, lyrical analysis is entirely subjective, and there’s no way of actually confirming who Taylor is singing about in her songs — unless she reveals the info herself. That being said, one particular fan theory amid the release of TTPD has picked up steam online over the weekend.

Fans are speculating that Track 19, “The Albatross,” is not necessarily just about Taylor’s ex Joe Alwyn , as many had initially speculated , but also about her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce .

Taylor dated Joe for almost seven years, with news of their split being made public last April. Months later, after being briefly romantically linked to Matty Healy , Taylor began dating Kansas City Chiefs player Travis.

Taylor and Joe have never publicly acknowledged their breakup , but at the time, a source purportedly told People that he’d struggled with her heightened level of superstardom following the start of her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Fans speculated that some of the lyrics in “The Albatross” nodded toward Joe’s apparent dislike of the limelight . For example, Taylor sings , “You were sleeping soundly / When they dragged you from your bed / And I tried to warn you about them.”

She also sings, “Wise men once read fake news / And they believed it,” which may be a reference to the viral false rumor that she and Joe had secretly gotten married.

However, fans have since theorized that Taylor is actually singing about the backlash she and Travis faced at the start of their relationship.

Taylor and Travis went public with their relationship last September when the singer attended one of his football games. But sadly, the pair found themselves at the center of attention — not all positive — when the world learned that they were an item.

Taylor’s attendance at Travis’s games garnered widespread attention — not just from her fans but also from the NFL itself . After a while, people sadly began criticizing Taylor for simply attending the games, with some football fans even booing the singer at a Chiefs game in December.

During an interview with Time magazine that same month, Taylor acknowledged the immense attention — and scrutiny — that her attendance at Travis’s games had sparked. She said, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Meanwhile, Travis has publicly revealed that he and Taylor have had conversations about the “outside noise” surrounding their relationship.

“The only thing we’ve talked about is, as long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise,” he said during a press conference in January. “That’s all that matters.”

A month later, Travis’s brother, Jason Kelce , revealed that the Chiefs player was forced to move houses due to “safety” concerns, explaining that while the pair have always been popular “in the football world,” Travis dating Taylor had introduced a bunch more fans who were on a “whole different level.”

While speaking of the increased attention on Travis in recent months, Jason said, “He had to completely move out of his house, right? People just staying by his house. I mean safety reasons. And the first day he moved into the new house, a gated community, somebody knocks on the back window of the house.”

With all of this in mind, several Swifties have since theorized that Taylor is singing about how Travis was hounded with newfound negative attention at the beginning of their relationship.

Taylor sings , “Cautions issued, he stood / Shooting the messengers / They tried to warn him about her.” She adds, “She's the albatross / She is here to destroy you.”

“You were sleeping soundly / When they dragged you from your bed / And I tried to warn you about them,” she sings, with fans speculating that this is in reference to Travis having to move from his home.

In a popular TikTok video , one user questioned, “Why is no one talking about how 'The Albatross' is also a Travis song? … Everybody was telling Travis, ‘Be careful, don’t get with her. She’ll ruin your career.’”

“Everybody was so pissed when they saw her on their screen,” the user said, referring to the backlash over Taylor’s attendance at Travis’s games. “They were saying, ‘She’s gonna destroy you.’”

“I think the albatross is about Taylor and Travis and him being warned off of her but her chose her,” someone agreed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I might be crazy but…why does the albatross feel like her writing about what people were saying to Travis when they first started,” another person guessed .

“Ok on the Albatross she [says], ‘you were sleeping soundly when they dragged you from your bed.’ Travis had to move out of his house when they started dating. She still thinks she brings down all her romantic partners and is a burden,” one more user said .

Again, this theory is purely speculation, and Taylor has not given any explicit information on who the song is about.

Bus driver thankful to be alive after being ejected in crash caused by blowout

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) - A bus driver who was transporting South Carolina college students says she is thankful for every new day after a crash caused by a blowout ejected her through the windshield.

Tina Wilson is recovering in the burn unit at New Orleans’ University Medical Center. She was transporting University of South Carolina students to the city April 5 when the bus crashed on Interstate 10 in Hancock County near the state line. Despite not yet knowing a discharge date, she is incredibly optimistic and counting her blessings.

“I’m thankful to be here,” Wilson told WVUE . “So, I don’t have any complaints about anything, not even the hospital food.”

For two weeks and counting, Wilson has been healing from burns and fractures.

“Left arm, my left back, my breast and my toe have road burn,” Wilson said. “I have a couple of fractures: clavicle, vertebrae and the fibula on my right foot. But those are checkmarks on a list. The doctors keep records of my injuries, but all in all, I am in amazing shape.”

Police say the crash happened when one of the bus’ tires blew out. The bus lifted onto two wheels, and Wilson stood up to try and keep control. When the bus landed hard, the windshield broke, and she was ejected, acccording to police.

“I thank God that I don’t have that memory,” Wilson said. “I don’t know what happened. The things I know, people have filled them in for me, but I don’t remember any of that. I’m peaceful with myself, and I’m able to sleep. I wake up in a wonderful mood because I don’t have to replay that.”

In all, 56 students from Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, who were en route to a formal, were onboard the bus at the time of the crash. One of them took over steering after Wilson was ejected and stopped the bus. Ten students were injured, but everyone survived.

Wilson credits God and a couple on the interstate for saving her.

“She thought that I was decapitated and dead,” she said. “They rode by, and her husband looked in the mirror and said, ‘She’s alive. I see her feet moving.’ They stopped, came back and aided me until rescue got there.”

After more than 20 years professionally behind the wheel, Wilson does not believe she will ever drive a bus or car again.

“God told me to stop, listen, pivot and get ready for the next step,” she said. “I don’t know what that will be, but I will be physically and mentally ready. I don’t feel like I’m grinding to a halt here after this injury.”

Wilson is looking forward to returning home to South Carolina, but she said in the meantime, she is thankful for the care and support she is receiving at UMC.
