Quinta da Pacheca

Welcome to Portugal! Upon arrival at Porto Airport, our local representative will meet you at arrivals and drive you to Quinta do Ventozelo in the Douro Valley, your first hotel and where you'll have a welcome briefing. The drive takes approx. 2 hours.

ventozelo-hotel-amp-quinta-gallerylf-ventozelo.outubro-120

Located in Ervedosa do Douro, Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta provides accommodation with an infinity swimming pool boasting incredible views over the Douro Valley, and a garden with a terrace. Some rooms have a balcony with mountain views. At the hotel you will find a restaurant and bar serving seasonal cuisine using ingrediants from local farms and producers. We love their farm-to-table approach, and staying in an elegant quinta like this really is a unique experience.

Today's loop ride is your first day of riding, exploring the beautiful area of Pinhão, famous for its incredible views and beautiful, historic train station. Surrounded by vines, this small town is placed in a beautiful landscape, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. It's one of the most beautiful places in this wine-growing zone and certainly worth a stop to explore the town. You'll pass through villages and the Nossa Senhorade Fátima Chapel. If you feel like doing a wine-tasting today, Quinta do Bonfim is nearby and located by the river, and considered to be one of the best wineries in the region. We have also recommended other wine experiences for your ride, which is included in your Information Pack.

Ascent/Descent - 785m/785m

You'll head north and leave the Douro Valley towards a municipality with the largest area of vineyards, as well as port wine production. Along the way, several historic villages can be discovered. Several viewpoints offer stunning panoramic views of the Douro and Tua rivers. A famous viewpoint in the area is Miradouro de Casal de Loivos, a tiny village perched on a hill overlooking the small but popular village of Pinhão in the heart of the Douro Valley. The BBC declared the views from this spot to be among the 6 best views in the world. From the miradouro terrace, you can see wave after wave of hills beyond the wide expanse of the Douro River, where you'll spot boats gliding towards the quayside at Pinhão. The slope between the river and where you stand is decorated with geometrical vineyards, rows of olive trees, vegetable plots and houses.

Continue on to the village of Favaios, located in one of the most beautiful plateaus in the Douro region. The village offers mouth-watering cuisine and one of the two only places in Portugal (besides Setúbal), where a different fortified wine called Moscatel is produced. It's also home to a distinctive four-cornered loaf made with locally produced wheat and baked in a wood-fired oven. Many locals pop to the bakery for a fresh loaf on a daily basis. Be sure to try the famous bread in a traditional bakery. Finally, you'll arrive in Alijó, with opportunities to taste local wines.

Ascent/Descent - 790m/525m

pousada-alijo-exterior1

Located in the village of Alijó, this restored historical building is surrounded by the large estate of one of the area’s famous Port wine houses. The hotel is named after Joseph James Forrester, an English wine merchant who was one of the great names in Port wine history. Enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and the onsite garden, sun terrace, bar and restaurant, serving local dishes and wines from around the region. Guests can tour the local vineyards, which produce the famous Port wines.

The scenery today is full of olive trees and vines on historic terraces as you make your way to your wine hotel (another quinta!) in Vilarinho São Romão, where a wine tasting awaits in the afternoon. Cycling through small villages and vineyards, you'll get a real flavour of the Douro region. As you cross the plateau, some of your ride will be on old roads, taking you from small villages to the breathtaking landscapes of the vineyards and then on to Vilarinho São Romão. You'll pass the town of Sabrosa enroute. The majority of the settlements in Sabrosa date back to the Middle Ages. Many of these settlements were established prior to 1143 (the establishment of the Kingdom of Portugal), such as Provesende, and have scattered paleo-Christian structures from this period. You'll have plenty of opportunities to admire the beautiful colours of the Douro Valley.

Ascent/Descent - 615m/650m

CasadasPipas

Located on the Quinta do Portal vineyard in the wine-producing Douro Valley, Casa das Pipas boasts fabulous views of vineyards and rolling green countryside. Enjoy the quinta's selection of fine wines and farm-to-table food at the restaurant, as well as the outdoor swimming pool. This family-run vineyard is a producer of some of the finest Douro wines, Port Wines, fortified Moscatel wines and olive oil. Indulging in the food and wine at this fabulous award-winning quinta is an experience in itself.

Today you'll cycle towards your last destination in the Douro Valley, to immerse yourself in vineyards once more. You'll get a flavour of the local life today, with traditional homes scattered across the land. Finish the day in Peso da Régua, another important town on the Douro riverside, full of history and traditions of wine production and celebrations. Situated on the banks of the Douro River, it played a fundamental role in the production and sale of Port wine, and it was from here that the barrels were transported in the special boats, known as barcos rabelos, to Vila Nova de Gaia, where the wine was left to age in the local wine lodges. In this region, the vines are grown on terraced slopes leading down to the river, providing visitors with a series of spectacular views, which are best admired from the area's many viewpoints, such as São Leonardo at Galafura, and Santo António do Loureiro. To end your day, there is no better place than Quinta da Pacheca as your hotel for the evening, one of the best wine estates and hotels in the region. Relax in the hotel and enjoy the sunset by the pool.

Ascent/Descent - 550m/1035m

Quinta da Pacheca

The Wine House Hotel (otherwise known as Quinta da Pacheca) is a beautifully restored 18th-century house on a 36-hectare wine estate, surrounded by vineyards and overlooking the Douro Valley. The luxurious boutique property is located just outside of Peso da Regua in Lamego, and is known to be one of the best estates in the Douro region due its world-class wine tasting. It was one of the first properties in the Douro Valley to bottle wine under its own label, and has its very own acclaimed restaurant, serving excellent wine and seasonal food throughout the year. Quinta da Pacheca has the feel of being on a working elegant wine estate, with the buildings surrounding the main manor house still being used for making wine and port.

Your last ride! Nearly half of the route today will be alongside the Douro River, where you can take your time to appreciate the views. From Peso da Régua, you'll cross the wine country of the Douro via its hilly slopes. The landscape along the way will be pleasant, with stunning viewpoints throughout. Crossing the plateau, the vineyard scenery is superb and the old roads will lead you back to your hotel via small villages. The ride will take you via Lamego, an ancient city rich in history since its founding dates back to the Roman ages. It was an important city even in Visigothic times. It features an 11th-century cathedral and was ruled by the Arabs from the 6th century until the 11th century. Lamego is defintiely worth a stop, and we have included some suggestions on historical sites to visit in our Information Pack. If you want to challenge yourself for the final day, a longer ride is available (48km). To finish your ride, another wine tasting is included today on your return at Quinta da Pacheca, to celebrate.

Ascent/Descent - 740m/740m (long version)

Ascent/Descent - 515m/510m (short version)

A beautiful 6 hour cruise will take you from the Douro Valley to Porto along the Douro River, with 14 locks and 35m of climbing via the dams. Observe the stunning views of the valley from the river, and enjoy a lunch on board, which is included. Upon arrival in Porto you will be transferred to your hotel where you can spend your last evening exploring the cobbled winding streets of the old quarter, with plenty of rooftop bars, coffee shops and restaurants to choose from.

RSPV-NH-collection-porto-batalha

Located in a newly renovated 18th-century palace, the hotel is in the heart of Porto. Once the home of a prominent wine-producing family, and most recently the city's main Post Office, the hotel has the feel of old Porto, from its historic façade to the elegant décor. It is also within easy reach of everything that makes this city a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a fully-equipped gym that’s open 24/7, unwind in the spa or relax in the indoor swimming pool.

Your journey comes to an end today, or why not book an extra night in Porto so that you can explore this historic bustling city.

In early March the trees of the almond groves start to blossom with delicate white flowers. While in mid to late September the grape harvest begins and the normally slow pace of life in the Douro Valley kicks up a gear. Please note that the Douro River Cruise cannot be guaranteed until May due to the water levels. May through to October sees full operation. A private transfer by car will replace the cruise should you travel outside the cruise season.

NOTE : September and October are now extremely busy for this tour and we recommend getting booked up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment if you would like to travel in these months.

Generally you'll find that the spring and autumn are the best times for cycling in Portugal, with temperatures from 15-20 degrees Celsius (increasing to 25 as you enter June) and the added bonus of less summer tourists. However, being in northern Portugal, and therefore cooler than the south, this trip is possible in the summer months, although it will be hotter and you must be prepared for cycling in hotter weather. Summer temperatures vary from 20-30 degrees Celsius on average, but enters into the high 30s on occasion during a heat wave. Rainfall is generally low with a monthly average of no more than 12 mm between March and November. May to September tend to be the driest months of the year.

Porto Airport   (or Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport) is the most convenient airport for beginning this trip, and is served by many airlines. You can also reach Porto from Lisbon Airport.

From   Lisbon Airport   take an airport shuttle bus to the Santa Apolonia Train Station and then a train to Porto, which takes around two and a half hours. Lisbon is served by many airlines in the UK and from many other gateways in Europe and USA.

A private transfer from Porto Airport to your first accommodation in the Douro Valley is included in the price of the trip. The drive to São João da Pesqueira is approximately 2 hours. Your specialist will request your flight arrival details nearer the travel date to arrange your transfer.

Porto Airport is approximately 11km from the city centre. From Porto, you can use the metro, bus, shuttle or taxi to reach Porto Airport terminal. If you're flying home from Lisbon Airport, take  a train from Porto (approx. 2.5 hours) to Santa Apolonia Train Station in Lisbon, then  an airport shuttle bus, metro or taxi from there. Macs Adventure can also arrange private transfers to Porto or Lisbon Airport. Please contact your Destination & Adventure Specialist for details.

Your luggage transfers between overnight locations are included in the tour. We request that you have only one piece of luggage per person and it should weigh approximately 20 kg.

Hybrid, Road & E-Bike Hire

Included with bike hire is a pannier rack, 1 pannier per bike,  handlebar bag , a  lock , t oolkit , pun cture repair k it, pump,   spare inner tube ,   and use of a helmet (please note that a pannie rack and bag ar enot provided on a road bike). W e recommend that you bring your own helmet for your own comfort.

For some battery-powered assistance on longer days and to get up hills we recomend hiring an e-bike. The rechargeable battery on your bike will be your reliable riding partner, getting you to the top of hills or to your final destination with more energy in the tank for an afternoon swim or simply for exploring your destination. You can request a  Ghost Yamaha E-Bike Touring bike at the time of booking. E-bikes are growing rapidly in popularity so please make sure to request at the time of booking so we can secure availability for your trip and avoid disappointment.

Hire of a hybrid, road or e-bike is not included in the tour package as standard, but we can arrange hire of high quality bikes for you. Included with bike hire as standard is a pannier rack, 1 pannier per bike, handlebar bag, a lock, toolkit, puncture repair kit, pump, spare inner tube, and use of a helmet.

Things to know.

Embark on a self-guided cycling odyssey, designed for a tailor-crafted and adaptable getaway on two wheels, unveiling wonders at your own pace while having the freedom to alter your itinerary or path as needed. Our dedicated team meticulously handles all facets, encompassing lodging arrangements, thorough planning, GPS navigational aid, and continuous support, to gift you a tranquil and engrossing journey. This venture champions autonomy, personal expression, and genuine cultural engagements.

Our tours are segmented into three tiers of difficulty: Leisurely , Moderate , and Challenging , categorized by the usual daily routine, although there may be variations in difficulty throughout the trip.

Leisurely tours are ideal for those in pursuit of a relaxed adventure amidst stunning landscapes, without the challenge of covering long distances or tackling rough terrains. These journeys typically cover 30-50 km each day, with an elevation gain of up to 500m. This allows plenty of pauses to relish the scenic vistas, enjoy local delicacies, and explore charming villages and towns along the way.

Moderate bike tours are tailored for those seeking a beautiful blend of scenic trails and a dash of challenge. Generally covering 50-80 km daily with an elevation gain of up to 1000m, these tours traverse enchanting landscapes and delightful villages, featuring a mix of flat and rolling terrains. They not only provide ample chances to stop and explore but also ensure a satisfying cycling workout.

Challenging bike tours are meant for experienced cyclists eager to push their limits. Spanning 80-120 km daily with an elevation gain of up to 2000m, these tours entail tackling steep ascents and demanding terrains. Though these tours require a high level of fitness and endurance, the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment at the end of each day, coupled with breathtaking views, makes the endeavor thoroughly rewarding.

We are devoted to discovering the ideal match for you. We collaborate with numerous lodging providers who meet our standards, although their availability may fluctuate, especially during peak demand times. Furthermore, we can customize your vacation to align with your preferences and budget, ensuring we identify the most fitting choice for your needs.

We advise booking your tour at the earliest opportunity, especially for popular tourist destinations with limited lodging availability. Prime choices often get snapped up for the summer before spring even arrives.

Addressing dietary preferences can vary based on their complexity. In Portugal, vegetarian options are generally available, but finding vegan meals might be more challenging in rural areas or smaller towns. Notably, lunch stops are often at traditional eateries which may not cater to special dietary needs beyond their standard menu. Keep this in consideration as you plan your adventure.

The ideal cycling season in Portugal stretches from mid-April to mid-October. In elevated regions like the Serra da Estrela, it’s preferable to cycle from mid-May to September.

Tours in Portugal can continue in light rain with the appropriate clothing. Summer frequently witnesses afternoon thunderstorms, making early tour starts recommended. If challenging weather conditions are expected, we’ll strive to adjust the tour beforehand.

Happiness Promise

There are hundreds of thousands of guides and tour operators around the world. Figuring out who to trust is stressful and hard.

That’s why we started 10Adventures Tours, we’re here to make it easy to find a great guide or tour operator. We handpick the best local guides and tour operators for 10Adventures, working to ensure you have great guides and a great trip.

We know it sucks to show up in a different country and find out the tents are junk, the guide incompetent or the route different from what we thought we were getting.

We want to give our users peace of mind that you’ll have a great trip and offer a guarantee that we will work with you to make it right.

How does this work? Well, if you feel that something about your trip didn’t’ meet your expectations, let us know. We will then work to gather the details and figure out where things went wrong. If something indeed wasn’t as described, or went wrong with your trip, and the problem was within the control of either oursleves, the guide or the tour company, we will then work out a refund with you that’s proportional to the scale of the problem.

Obviously the best way to make a great trip is to tell your local guide or tour operator and give them the chance to fix the solution while you are on your trip. Most things can be solved by telling your guide when the issue develops. If that doesn’t solve it, then email us right away. Please don’t wait to voice your concerns until the trip is over, as it’s much harder to solve issues after the fact.

We work hard to make sure you have a great trip. If something isn’t right, please email  [email protected]  and we will get to work right away.

Biking the douro valley tour details, overview for biking the douro valley.

There are few places more fit for an exciting cycling tour than the stunning Douro Valley, an area famous for its gorgeous scenery and fantastic wines. You can spend the day cruising through lush green valleys under the Portuguese sun and evenings tasting incredible wine and food from the comfort of your historic guesthouses.

Tailor your rides to suit your energy level, lingering where the scenery is just right. You’ll pass the farms and groves where local olive oil, almonds, and wine are made while you ride. Then, ride through Douro Natural Park, teeming with wildlife. Park your bike for a while to appreciate the UNESCO-recognized wine region from the best vantage points along the route. Wine, food, cycling- what more could the Biking the Douro Valley tour offer?

Itinerary for Biking the Douro Valley

Arrive in miranda do douro.

Arrive at Miranda do Douro. Take in the lovely scenery on the way and then spend the evening taking a stroll through town.

Quiet Ride through Douro Nature Reserve

Your first bike ride of the trip will take you across the plateau of the International Douro Nature Reserve. The peace of the wilderness will likely only be disturbed by the occasional wildlife. Residents of the park include wild boar, goats, cattle, over 170 species of birds, and the rare Iberian wolf!

Cycle to Ancient Torre de Moncorvo

The trail today follows an old railway line through forests and across agricultural fields. Ride through olive groves and almond trees into the medieval town of Torre de Moncorvo.

Once you arrive, grab a coffee and take a walk through this town straight out of a storybook.

Cycle the Douro River

Today you’ll be cycling along the magnificent Douro River. You’ll enjoy beautiful views and a peaceful ride through the olive groves.

Tonight you’ll be staying in a quinta, which is the local term for the home that grows and produces olive oil. You’ll be treated to an incredible dinner featuring local cuisine with homemade cheeses, sausages, and of course, their homemade olive oil and wine!

Ride through Wine Country and Rabelo Ride to Pinhão

Set out on your bike to explore the Alto Douro wine region. This area is famous for producing port wine and wines from the Touriga grape. Notice the incredible man-made vine-covered terraces and wine estates along your route.

When you reach the river you’ll be taking a rabelo boat to Pinhão. These traditional boats have been used for centuries to transport wine down the river. When you disembark, you’ll be met by a transfer that will take you to the 17th-century house where you’ll spend the night.

Ride the River Valley to Peso da Régua

Today will sadly be the last ride of your biking adventure. You’ll follow the country roads back into the Douro Valley, enjoying the gorgeous scenery one last time. You’ll finish up your ride at another quinta in Peso da Régua.

Tonight, you have the option to share a cooking experience with your host, followed by a celebration glass of wine on the terrace.

From the Coast to the Interior

Welcome to Portugal! Your guides will meet you in Oporto for a transfer to the UNESCO town of Guimarães. On a guided tour, learn about the major events that took place here in the 12th century and lead to the birth of an independent nation, as evidenced by the inscription “ Aqui nasceu Portugal ” (“Portugal was born here”), which can still be seen in the city’s old wall. Then it’s off to our hotel for a light lunch followed by a bike fitting and safety talk. Our first ride will take us through Vidago’s verdant countryside before we return to the hotel for dinner in the Grand Ballroom restaurant.

Meals:  Lunch / Dinner Destinations:  Oporto, Guimarães, Vidago Accomplished: 13 miles / 21 km, elevation gain: 1,010 feet / 308 meters Longer Option: 15 miles / 24 km, elevation gain: 1,574 feet / 480 meters Accommodations:  Vidago Palace Hotel

Taking It Up a Notch to Chaves

Breakfast will power us up for today’s ride to the town of Chaves, just south of the Spanish Galicia border. Pedal into the heart of Trás-Os-Montes, which translates to “Behind the Mountains”—an area that was long isolated from the rest of Portugal and still remains largely unknown to foreign visitors. With the option to hop in the van for this morning’s first section, set out from our hotel for a climb shaded by century-old sycamore trees. We’ll stop in the charming mountain town of Boticas, then continue past small valley hamlets and family farm plots. Descend into Chaves, once the frontline of the Portuguese defense against Spanish incursion, and enjoy lunch in the city’s historic downtown. Ride or shuttle back to our hotel where the afternoon is yours to lay out by the pool or enjoy the spa. Tonight we dine at a boutique winery with our friend Nuno and his wife, where we’ll enjoy a sampling of barbecued meats, fish, and veggies and wines from the estate.

Meals:  Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Destinations: Boticas, Chaves, Loivos, Souto Velho Accomplished: 40 miles / 65 km, elevation gain: 3,559 feet / 1,085 meters Shorter Option: 19 miles / 30 km, elevation gain: 1,092 feet / 333 meters Accommodations:  Vidago Palace Hotel

From Behind the Mountains to the River Below

Today we ride south towards the Douro Valley and our destination in the riverside wine town of Pinhão. Whether you choose to begin pedaling from our hotel or start further out from the mineral-water village of Pedras Salgadas, the destination is the same: we’ll reach the town of Vila Real, home to Casa de Mateus, a Baroque 18th-century palace famously depicted on bottles of locally produced rosé wine of the same name. After lunch, cut across the northern ridge of the upper Douro before an exhilarating descent through charming hamlets and hillsides rippled with terraced vineyards. Our final stretch brings us to the majestic Douro River and our hotel for the night, located right on its banks. This afternoon, choose to lounge by the pool or head into town to shop for wine at the local boutiques. Tonight we’ll dine at our favorite historic quinta , a Portuguese wine estate. Our meal is paired with voluptuous red table wines and finished with the estate’s own vintage Port.

Meals:  Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Destinations:  Pedras Salgadas, Casa de Mateus, Pinhão Accomplished: 43 miles / 69 km, elevation gain: 2,755 feet / 840 meters Longer Option: 50 miles / 81 km, elevation gain: 3,690 feet / 1,125 meters Accommodations:  Vintage House Douro

Let the Douro Lead the Way

This morning we step straight from our hotel grounds aboard a traditional Rabelo boat and embark on a river cruise up the Douro. Mother nature has done her part in this UNESCO-protected valley, providing an exceptional climate for ideal wine growing conditions. But the human element of engineering is impossible to ignore, with vineyards hand-carved out of the schist over hundreds of years. After lunch on dry land, it’s time for an afternoon spin along the Douro’s riverbank to the town of Peso da Régua and our magnificent hotel for the next two nights. This evening you’re free to dine on your own; choose a trendy wine bar or a tasquinha (tavern restaurant) in town, depending on your mood.

Meals:  Breakfast / Lunch Destinations:  Pinhão, Peso da Régua Accomplished:  17 miles / 27 km, elevation gain: 1,273 feet / 388 meters Longer Option: 25 miles / 41 km, elevation gain: 2,703 feet / 824 meters Accommodations:  Six Senses Douro Valley

The Making of a King

Today’s ride promises to be our most challenging—but not without its rewards (or the option to fall back on the support van). Pedal to the city of Lamego, first following the upper banks of the Douro overlooking the river below. Tackle a steep section, then turn inland for a gradual climb up sinuous vineyard-sided roads above the river valley. It was here in Lamego that the Bishop of Braga crowned the first King of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, in 1140. Pause for coffee and a light snack at a local pastelaria before we visit the ornate Lamego Cathedral, Our Lady of Assumption. Prepare for a rewarding descent toward our lunch spot at a local family-run winery, where the flavorful menu pulls from seasonal produce and is paired with wines of the estate. Our final evening begins with an aperitif, followed by a gastronomic dinner to remember at our hotel’s contemporary restaurant.

Meals:  Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Destinations:  Lamego Accomplished: 29 miles / 47 km, elevation gain: 3,254 feet / 992 meters Longer Option: 35 miles / 57 km, elevation gain: 4,271 feet / 1,302 meters Accommodations:  Six Senses Douro Valley

Obrigado for Everything, Oporto!

Our adventure has come to an end. Extend your journey a little longer with a night or two downriver in Oporto, or our guides will transfer you to the Oporto airport to continue your travels.

Pyatnitskaya street - the Tretyakov Gallery - Luzhkov Bridge - the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the Gogolevsky Boulevard - the Nikitsky Boulevard - the Tverskoy boulevard - Teatralnaya street - the Bolshoi Theatre – the Kitai - Gorod - Red Square and GUM store - the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge

This route is the best one if you want to see the heart of Moscow. It goes right through the major places of interest and touches upon the most exciting and vibrant areas of Moscow such as part of the Boulevard Ring, which is absolutely loved by everyone.

Cozy streets of Zamoskvorechye will never leave you indifferent. This district has a long and vivid history and is full of old baroque houses along with Stalinist buildings. It includes three theatres, three museums and sixteen churches.

Back in the 18 th century Zamoskvorechye was known as a quiet, country-like land of single-storey houses and conservative businessmen. It remained country-like and is much more filled with business than before, as this area is just right in the city centre.

You’ll learn:

  • what was previously on the site of the Novokuznetskaya metro-station;
  • names of four abandoned metro stations and how to find these stations;
  • what is the oldest bridge among all the bridges in Moscow;
  • how old was Pavel Tretyakov when he decided to collect paintings, that are now exhibited in the Tretyakov gallery;
  • what does the real form of the Boulevard Ring in Moscow look like;
  • what tricks did the Russian government used to save the houses and buildings from bombing during the World War II;
  • what unofficial name the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky bridge has

The best way to explore Moscow!

The cycling tour was definitely the highlight of our visit of Moscow. Vado was an excellent guide. His English is very good, he knows a lot about the city and everything's there's to see, not only the most touristy places. He is perfectly able to improvise and customise the tour to whatever you want to see or know about. As we had already seen the Red Square and its surroundings, he showed us some spots that you wouldn't normally get to see on a first visit of the city. Especially the parks were great to cycle through. He is very concerned about your safety and well-being. As we were enjoying it so much, he made the tour even much longer than was indicated on the website. We made some welcome stops for coffee, lunch and icecream. If you want, he also takes pictures of you throughout the tour (free of charge!), which is a very nice plus. I would recommend Moscow Bike Tours to anyone visiting the city, be it for the first time or not!

We had such a great time with Vado on our bike tour. He was super knowledgable of the city and had such interesting facts about things we would never even know to ask about. He took us on a private tour and we were able to customize it to what we liked. He always was conscious of our safety and did not ride too fast or too slow. I especially liked how he took pictures throughout our travel. We would love to do another bike tour with him and explore other gems Moscow has to offer.

This tour was fun, adjusted to our needs and wishes - several times actually on the tour. The guide Vado was very knowledgeable on various subjects, very willing to share it, answer questions and just a very likeable guy. He helped us finding a taxi at a reasonable rate (lot's of different rates for taxi's) and not reading the Cyrillic alphabet and since this is not a big company with a big logo (which is part of their quality) we do recommend taking a taxi to their location. We did find their bikes in the driveway and a very discreet label with their phone number. We can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed the tour and can recommend it.

From booking this trip through to getting the photos after, Vado, with his perfect English, was a superstar, certainly not letting us down on the day with his insightful, informative and exciting bike tour around Moscow. I really do believe that this is the best (and certainly most healthy) way of seeing the busy city. You not only see the main sites, but all those small places that you would never get to see otherwise, allowing you to interact with the people and places, which would otherwise be impossible on a bus tour. Vado ensured that we went at a pace we were comfortable with and stayed safe on the roads. I was incredibly impressed with the work the local mayor is overseeing to make it a bike friendly city. This is a big thumbs up from my wife and I.

douro valley day bike tour

I spent a week in Moscow with a friend and we wanted to get a good overview of the city on the first stay, which we got with the bike tour. The tour was worth every penny we paid for it. We started at midday right on time and the tour ended at about 7 pm with a lunch break. We got to see the main sights of the city and since we booked a private tour we could stop anywhere we wanted, to take pictures, to visit a couple of monasteries... Our guide, Nadia, was very nice, she knew many stories about many things we got to see, recommended more things we could do during our stay, restaurants we could go to, good Russian or Soviet movies we should watch... We had a great time. I would highly recommend this tour.

The tour was everyting and more than what we expected. Vado is a very frienly and knowledgeable person. He speaks fluent english with a lot of humor. We covered the whole city in 6 hours, had a lovely lunch at an old soviet diner. I would definately advice any person who visits Moscow to do the cycling tour on their first or second day. Thanks Vado for a great day well spend!
