5 of the Best Austin Bike & Electric Bike Tours
As the host of a variety of film, culture and music festivals throughout the year, most notably SXSW, Austin, Texas is a key beacon of culture in the United States. The city almost single-handedly subverts the engrained, outmoded image of the Lone Star state, which many non-Texans often associate with cowboys, gun-totin’ and oil. Well set that limited view aside for a moment, because Austin is a very different type of place. The city is a joy to explore on foot or, better yet, on two wheels.
You can take many different types of tour of Downtown Austin and along the banks of the Colorado River by bike or electric bike. Tours follow a broad array of itineraries and departure times, durations and narrations, so it really comes down to what appeals to you most. Here are five of the best Austin bicycle and e-bike tours, taking into account additional factors too, like the quality of the bikes, the reviews of previous guests, and the value for money, so you can find the right tour for you.

This tour was awesome!!!!! Sean, Regan, and Joe are amazing and so helpful. Tour takes all around Austin with various stops to check out the sites. This is not to be missed!!
Signed up for this as a way to see Austin and do a good tour. After some patient training we took off. Tyler, our guide, was excellent, and safety was always a priority! We signed up for the food truck tour and were a bit surprised that we didn’t visit more and the one visit was optional. I think there could be more clarity in what the tour is and is not. Overall, we would highly recommend this as an option to see the city!!
An absolute must if you're in Austin. Tyler are guide made the trip fun and interesting and just a real great time. The bikes really made it adventurous. Highly recommend

Captain Edge lead us on an adventure through the city & surrounding areas of Austin. A great ride & Edge made it an awesome experience. We booked a tour of the Warren Wildlife Museum only because of this tour. What a great addition to our trip. We definitely recommend Austin Biker Gang & Warren Wildlife Museum!!! Book it and have a great time!
So much fun and we did it in the pouring rain! Captain Morpheus did an amazing job providing us with information about Austin while giving us the best sight seeing tour you can get here in this city. If you like to ride e-bikes and get a good laugh, I highly recommend stopping by and becoming apart of the gang.
did the Ebike tour around Austin and at first I was a little nervous riding these bikes but after a few minutes of practice I got the hang of it! Had such a good time and a lot of that was because of our amazing tour guide Joker. He played music while riding around town and provided us with interesting information about each location we visited. I felt safe and comfortable all while having a really enjoyable experience on Joker's tour. Absolutely recommend!
Captain Edge !!!!! what an amazing experience, gracious and safe ride that was educational and full of photo ops ! First time "bike tour" and I'd do it in every city if I could . The speakers with the narrated guided fun facts from our tour guide was the best!!! Easy to hear the music and the fun facts through the whole ride , Captain edge loves his town and now so do I ! I'll be back to Austin for sure!!
Austin is a sprawling metropolis. It is not a friendly city to explore when it comes to walking around. Go to Your Biker Gang to get a tour of the city in two hours. We recently had a corporate tour of the city. We had a tour by two people who put us at ease riding electric bicycles. The bicycles can be peadled or use a throttle to run on electric power. Very easy to use. Our tour guide and sweep who was at the end to make sure the team was together and did not separate was well thought out. We saw quite a bit of downtown and alot of hidden gems that are off the beaten path. I have been to Austin over a dozen times on business but this was the first time I really got to see several sides of Austin. I highly recommend Your Biker Gang! Come on over.
Fun time and a great way to see Austin, Texas. Our gang leader was Captain Kid, and he shared some great history on the city as we rode all over Austin. What a cool city. Be sure to sunscreen and drink water. My wife and I loved it.
Rooster rocked as a fun loving trivia spouting guide for our run around Austin. The bikes were well maintained and in good shape for all riders. Safety precautions were taken and the route was pretty fun. I would have liked to learn more about the city of Austin and less about the animal murdereding ass hole living in a big mansion with a giraffe statue, but the stops were fun photo ops and our guide Rooster made the day for us. Mucho recommended.
A great time.
Joker(charley) was an amazing host loved the ride and really took us through the best spots! Definitely recommend!!!!
Shout out to Joker! Beyond having a really cool perspective on Austin, and helping us see so much of the city in a unique fun way, was a huge help when I wasn't feeling well (those 100+ degree days)! Had electrolytes packets ready to go, and somehow juggled all of us like it was nothing. Fun bonus is you get to pick your own adventure on what interests you about the city.
Excellent adventure! Scrappy was our tour guide and did an amazing job. Highly recommend to people of all ages and fitness levels. The E bike does all the work.

- O4898OPisabellas 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A Fabulous Way to See Downtown Although we hit Austin during a cold front, we put on our coats and still headed out for a great e bike tour, which was probably our favorite activity of the trip. What a fabulous way to see downtown Austin and South Congress. We may never do a walking tour ever again! Our family of 3 adults had our own tour guide to ourselves and she was so fun! A resident of 30+ years in Austin, she had a plethora of information, fun facts, cool history and many stories to tell about this fun city. We also ate amazing food along the way, at food trucks and restaurants. Since it was cold and there were only 4 of us, we toured the library, which is so cool! A fun side stop (we needed for warmth!). I would highly recommend this tour, especially if your visiting the first time, like we were. Austin is an amazing place, and with a fun guide to show you the ins and outs, you can't go wrong on this tour. Read more Written March 22, 2023

- Desert__Duo03 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing experience We did the e-bike tour and had an amazing experience with Chris and Kate. They had different route options and asked us where we wanted to go. And, that's where we went. It was exactly want we wanted. The e-bikes are in excellent condition and they took their time to make sure we knew how to operate the bikes before we ventured off. On our way to the bike trail, they showed us peacocks in the neighborhood.....yes, live peacocks just hanging out. They ensured that we were safe and that we had fun during our ride. My friend is not as confident on a bike and the guides accommodated her needs without making her feel uncomfortable. They suggested an alternate route that was better for her. We appreciated the extra attention to details. We also did a walking food tour with another company and this e-bike tour was so much better. Read more Written January 25, 2023

We are vegans, so he found restaurants that we would like. Since my daughter and I were the only ones on the tour he made sure that we saw things we hadn’t yet seen. We went on a small tour through the Capitol and rode through the fun streets of Austin. Chris was hilarious and we laughed the entire time. Highly recommend this tour! It is such an authentic trip - and is perfect for all adult ages and abilities. The weather and the trail system is great.....and would be hard to find on your own. We highly recommend this option. Great value for your money, but more importantly, a great value in learning about this community. A+++ Read more Written November 6, 2022
- Q3772LMscottg 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Literally the best tour ever! I have been on many “cookie cutter” tours and I can tell you the Austin E-Bike Brunch Tour is definetly not one of them! And I say that in the most positive way! From the moment my husband and I and our 2 other couple friends arrived for our 3 hour tour, Faith made us feel completely welcome. She set up our bikes quickly and taught us how to use them. Then, I thought she was going to take us to a few “pre-planned” places to sample food. But, instead, she asked us what we liked to eat and what kind of food we wanted to sample. She curated the trip to our exact liking! Our first stop was at a charming Tex-Mex restaurant where she explained the menu, made suggestions and ordered what we wanted. The huevos rancheros was one of the best egg dishes I have ever tasted, the salsa was to die for and the mole was like nothing any of us had ever tasted. We were absolutely stuffed and so we set off on the bikes through Lady Bird Park which was stunning. She pointed out historic buildings and told interesting stories along the way. Then, she led us into a neighborhood and asked us if we wanted to see an artist’s home. We said yes and the home turned out to be hers!!! She actually welcomed us into her backyard and we met her husband and 2 dogs and she showed us her creative sculptures that were dotted all across her front and back lawn. We really could not believe her hospitality! We almost thought she was going to ask us to stay for dinner, lol! After that, we rode to a roadside bbq joint and enjoyed brisket, sausage and ribs that were out of this world! At this point our 3 hours were drawing to a close but told us if we were interested, instead of going back she would take us to a famous lake area. (I forget the name). We said sure and we followed her to this enormous lake where hundreds of people were just lounging in and around the lake, eating, drinking, listening to music and relaxing on kayaks and floats. It was literally a “sea” of people, dogs, turtles, swans all swimming and co-existing. What a crazy scene! Faith suggested we all take off our shoes and climb in and we did - it was so much fun! After that we headed back to our starting point - our 3 hour tour was more like 4.5 hours and we enjoyed every minute of it. Faith went above and beyond and you can tell she really enjoys what she does. So happy we booked this tour - it was definelty the highlight of our trip! If you are in Austin I would say this is a must do!!! Read more Written June 7, 2022

20 Best Hotels In Austin, Texas, For Your Next Lone Star Trip
F rom retro motor courts and relaxing spa resorts to walkable downtown hotels and hip new boutique stays, here's where to stay in Austin.
Austin, Texas, is a city that isn't short on things to do , places to see, tacos to eat , live music to be heard, and outdoor activities to be enjoyed. You can take a dip in the natural swimming hole Barton Springs Pool, kayak on Lady Bird Lake, catch an up-and-coming musician at Continental Club or Antone's, pick up a pair of boots on South Congress Avenue, tour the state capitol building, attend a football game at the University of Texas, and so much more. Basically, you might as well stay a few days.
Luckily, Austin is a growing city with historic, highly rated, and new hotels alike. You can choose from many unique options befitting your travel goals, including walkable high-rise hotels downtown, relaxing spa resorts outside the city, retro motor courts with modern flair, and trendy boutique hotels with major personalities. Here are the best hotels in Austin to book for your next trip.
The LINE Austin
With downtown Austin on one side and Lady Bird Lake on the other, The LINE Austin is a great option for those who want maximum walkability to everything downtown has to offer. Since it also sits at the end of the South Congress Bridge, you can easily go for a stroll on the waterside Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail, as well as over the bridge to the artsy retail-and-restaurant district, South Congress.
The LINE Austin also has a rooftop bar, P6, for epic sunset views, and some of the city’s best breakfast tacos can be found downstairs at Veracruz All Natural.

Hotel San José
This circa-1930s motor court was given a hip new makeover by designer Liz Lambert, which helped kickstart the revitalization of the entire South Congress strip, which is now bustling with shops, restaurants, and music venues—all within just steps of your room. The 40-room bungalow-style hotel is centered around a retro-inspired courtyard, accompanied by a popular hidden-away bar, where you can sip on Texas Ranch Waters .
Typewriters and Polaroid cameras can be borrowed from the front desk, and the hotel is also pet-friendly with dog bowls and beds available to be borrowed from the front desk as well.

Commodore Perry Estate
Although it’s only 10 minutes from downtown Austin, this restored mansion-turned-hotel feels more like a secluded retreat far from any city. Formerly the country home of Commodore Edgar Perry, the 1928 original home and three-story newly-built Inn sits on 10 acres, and the in-house restaurant Lutie’s, named after the Commodore’s wife, is one of the hardest reservations to get in town.
The Commodore Perry Estate hosts many events monthly, such as cooking classes, movie nights, palm readings, and more.

The Loren opened in late 2022 and has maintained an air of novelty that makes it an exciting stay. Featuring 108 guest rooms and suites, all with lake and city views, it is convenient to both downtown and South Congress areas, and the in-house restaurant Nido offers breathtaking skyline views at sunset. There’s even a 5,000-square-foot spa for pampering.
Guests can easily explore the city via the pedestrian bridge across the street from the hotel. Ask about the complimentary e-bikes available upon request.

Hotel Magdalena
This tucked-away 89-room hotel is located on the appropriately named Music Lane, just off South Congress Avenue, which means you are able to walk to any of the shops, restaurants, and music venues. However, you can stay on the property for tunes at the newly opened Equipment Room, which is an audiophile’s dream. The small, moody bar features a high-fidelity sound system and a ceiling lined with two-inch-thick acoustic foam panels and specialty tiles, making it an ideal space to listen to vinyl records.
The Equipment Room boasts a collection of more than 1,200 vinyl albums that includes reggae, rock, soul, and more, as well as a snack and cocktail menu.

Austin Proper Hotel
Everything about this stylish urban hotel in downtown Austin just oozes cool. Acclaimed designer Kelly Wearstler is to thank for that, including the Texas-sourced materials, furnishings, and palette. Despite being within walking distance of some of the best restaurants, many guests would rather stick around at the rooftop restaurant, La Piscina, which offers wood-fired Oaxacan plates and a raw bar.
The lobby bar is where you’ll see some of the hippest locals. Order a Mexican martini as you wait for a table at the main hotel restaurant, Peacock Mediterranean Grill, which offers a mix of Greek, Israeli, and North African cuisines.

Carpenter Hotel
You’d almost miss this hotel—a one-story brick building in South Austin—if you didn’t know it was there. The hotel was retro-fitted from a space built in 1948 to house Austin's carpenters union. The original meeting hall has been reimagined as the front desk, cafe, and restaurant; and much of the original interior and exterior materials have been restored. The rooms are purposefully minimalist, and each has a balcony. You’re just a short walk or bike ride away from Zilker Park, the city’s 351-acre outdoor oasis.
Next door, stop into one of the city’s most popular local wine bars, House Wine, for a French courtyard feeling with funky Austin flair.

Hotel Saint Cecilia
Lushly landscaped enough to hide away, despite being only a block off bustling South Congress Avenue, this boutique hideout is home to only five suites in a white-clapboard Victorian house, three studios, six poolside bungalows, and six garden bungalows. The moody on-site lounge is only open for guests and private club members, and bathrooms are outfitted with custom kimono bathrobes and Grown Alchemist bath products.
Named for the patron saint of music, Hotel Saint Cecilia includes a record player in each room, along with a small collection of records, with additional choices in the lobby. There’s even a curated monthly playlist available for listening.

Lake Austin Spa Resort
This all-inclusive destination spa offers a dose of wellness by the water. Hugging the shoreline of the Colorado River, the resort’s 19 waterfront acres will have you feeling immersed in Hill Country serenity, despite being just miles outside of downtown Austin. Amongst many spa offerings, you can relax away from hustle and bustle, and healthy meals are included in the pricing.
After relaxing with a “Tour of Texas” treatment, take a yoga class on the dock or end the day with an astrologer-led stargazing experience.

Miraval Austin Resort & Spa
If you’re looking for a quieter retreat, this 220-acre resort and spa overlooks a lake and two nature reserves. From the grounds, you’re easily able to explore Cypress Creek Farm, kayak on Lake Travis, or hike in the Balcones Canyonland Preserve, where you may see diverse wildlife such as roadrunners, turkeys, deer, and many different bird species. Stick closer to the hotel to relax at one of two stunning infinity pools.
As a digital device-free resort, Miraval gives guests permission to unplug. Using technology is only permitted in designated areas.

South Congress Hotel
Taking up an entire block on South Congress Avenue, it’s hard to find a better location for those wanting quick walkable access to shops, restaurants, and some of Austin’s most popular landmarks, such as the photo-worthy mural on the side of the Jo’s Coffee building. The lobby feels like a cozy mid-century lounge, branching off into various nooks and attractions, including six restaurant bars.
Every first Thursday of the month, the South Congress Hotel hosts a signature monthly event with a live performance by an up-and-coming local act, DJs throughout the spaces, drink specials, pop-up activations and more.

The Driskill
This hotel stands out from the rest of downtown's stays at first glance, thanks to its historic 1880s-era grand dame facade. You’ll see nods to Texas everywhere, from cowhide bar stools to well-worn leather couches. Since it’s located close to the Texas State Capitol building, it historically has been a meeting place for many politicians. Nowadays, tourists stop by to listen to live jazz musicians at The Driskill Bar and take photos in front of the massive Christmas tree in the lobby each holiday season.
The Driskill is also known as a “haunted” landmark in Austin. Learn more about the hotel’s storied history at one of the daily history tours that are free for guests.

Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa
Around 20 minutes away from downtown Austin, this Hill Country resort offers a dose of the outdoors while still being accessible to city comforts. In addition to the extensive program of outdoor activities and spa services, it is also a prime golf destination, thanks to its access to four different courses. Make sure to enjoy s’mores by the fire pit on the resort’s Lady Bird Lawn.
Take a drive through Texas Hill Country to see wildflowers or wander through the many wineries and distilleries nearby.

Fairmont Austin
This 37-story hotel balances over downtown Austin and the lush Waller Creek Greenbelt Trail. With over 1,000 rooms, it is a popular choice for conferences and events, especially due to its proximity to the Austin Convention Center. Choose from six different dining concepts, including farm-to-table Garrison and Rules & Regs, a rooftop cocktail bar with Latin-inspired bites.
There is a reservations-only, semi-private champagne and caviar bar, Room 725, tucked away on the 7th floor.

Lone Star Court
If you want a unique place to stay while visiting Austin, the Lone Star Court is a modern take on a retro-ranch-style motor court. It’s conveniently located up north of downtown in The Domain, a shopping district known for its high-end retail and upscale dining. Revel in the vintage-modern feel while hanging at the pool or getting a table at the Hill Country-inspired restaurant, Water Trough.
You’re just steps away from The Domain, a shopping district with over 100 retail stores, dozens of dining concepts, movie theater, bowling alley, and more.

Austin Motel
The impossibly retro-cool Austin Motel sits just south of the Colorado River and downtown, within walking distance to the famous bat bridge and within view of the State Capitol. Located in the South Congress neighborhood, the motel was renovated by designer Liz Lambert in 2017, maintaining its original motor court layout, but freshened up with a funky vintage aesthetic.
The motor court-style pool is a popular hangout for locals, who take advantage of pool passes during the summer. There are events thrown in the pool area year-round, so make sure to check the calendar.

Thompson Austin
Newly opened in 2022, this upscale downtown hotel welcomes guests with a design-centric lobby and rooms that are modern and sleek, except with Texan elements. The in-house restaurants are spearheaded by James Beard-nominated chef Mashama Bailey. Get a taste of her specialty cuisine at The Grey Market, The Diner Bar, and in-room dining.
On the fourth floor, Wax Myrtle’s is an indoor-outdoor concept where you can lounge by the pool, grab cocktails, or eat dinner. It also offers pool day passes for non-guests.

Take a step back in time by staying at this hotel housed in a Greek Revival-style mansion near the University of Texas in Austin campus. In 1878, one of the founders of the University of Texas purchased the land on which the hotel now sits. The mansion underwent an extensive renovation in 2013 and is now available for overnight guests in 47 guest rooms, some of which offer dreamy columned balconies to match the exterior.
Popular for game weekends and parents' weekends at the University of Texas, this historic hotel offers afternoon tea, pool passes, and happy hour specials.

Named for singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt, a country music legend, it pays homage to the Live Music Capital of the World with musical design touches throughout the lobby, common areas, and rooms.
