How to get tickets for the europa league final.

The 2024 Europa League Final could see Bayer Leverkusen go the entire season unbeaten.

  • The Europa League final, taking place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, is set to be one of the best matches of the year.
  • Ticket allocation is limited, with each club receiving 12,000 tickets and prices ranging from £34 to £128.
  • There are hospitality options, like Skybox packages, that offer luxury experiences but come at a high price.

Anticipation is building for the 2024 Europa League final. Some may see it as the second-tier of European competitions, but - to those competing - it means far more than that. It's the opportunity of winning a UEFA competition. A chance of history. A chance to walk into the record books.

That doesn't come around often — and when Liverpool were knocked out by Atalanta in the quarter-finals , there was immense disappointment. Jurgen Klopp 's farewell tour will not be stopping off in Dublin before Arne Slot likely takes over . However, for the four teams remaining - Bayer Leverkusen , Roma , Atalanta and Marseille - they can dream of glory.

Taking place at the Aviva Stadium, named the Dublin Stadium by UEFA, the Europa League final is set to be a spectacle. On the 22nd May, 51,700 will be watching at the iconic stadium in the capital city of the country. Tickets are always hard to come by for major European finals, but here is everything you need to know to watch the match with your very own eyes.

How to Buy Euro 2024 Tickets

Ticket ballot.

Even though the Europa League finalis not as prestigious as the Champions League final, which is widely seen as the biggest match of the year , tickets are still immensely popular, particularly in a country that rarely hosts the best matches. The number of tickets available through the UEFA ballot is unclear. Each club gets 12,000 each - nearly half of the capacity - with the rest available to corporate partners, the press and a small general ballot. Your chances are always slim in it.

The ticket application window for the general public opened at the start of April 2024 and it closed on the 16th April 2024 . Therefore, it means if you missed out, you are no longer able to submit applications to buy tickets. Applicants who applied, regardless of which teams reach the final, will receive an email notification with the outcome of their application by the beginning of May 2024 at the latest. After the semi-final matches, another lottery will be run among those who decided to apply only if their team qualifies.

If you're one of the fans who are successful in winning a 'Golden Ticket', you will receive an email to buy tickets. There will be a specific deadline to buy them, not yet disclosed by UEFA, before they are moved onto other fans. Fans who can attend the biggest match of the season will be able to buy four tickets together in the seat category they applied for. They will be sat together as long as they were part of the same order.

Tickets via the Finalists

Each club at the final gets given just 12,000 tickets each. It has drawn criticism across the footballing world, with the Football Supporters' Association saying : “It is extremely disappointing that the UEFA Europa League Final in Dublin will represent such a step backwards."

It will only make the tickets harder to come by. Each club can plan how they sell their tickets individually, but it is likely they will do it via a loyalty system. Therefore, fans that have attended the most matches in recent years will be given priority, before they work their way down through season ticket holders and members. Due to UEFA's 'Fans First' policy, all tickets are £34 for fans of each club, making it more affordable for everyone travelling.

If Bayer Leverkusen make the final, it is expected that their fans will travel in vast numbers, knowing there is a possibility it could see them go the entire season unbeaten. UEFA drew up contingency plans in case Liverpool or Rangers made the final, but both have been knocked out, making the organisation's plans with smaller fanbases easier.

Top 10 Goal-Scorers in Europa League History

Ticket prices.

Compared to ticket prices for the Champions League final, the Europa League final is far more affordable. The most expensive non-hospitality ticket is £128, allowing most people to afford it for a major occasion. The unusual shape means one team will get all of one side where it is just one-tier, whilst the rest is separated by different price categories.

Category 1 seats are £128 and they are located mostly on the lower main and opposite stands. Category 2 seats are £86 and they are located in the corners, behind the goals closer to the pitch, or on the main and opposite stands, above the Category 1 seats. Finally, Category 3 seats, the cheapest for the general public, are £56 and are located on the main and opposite stands above Category 2, or in the corners and behind the goals, further away from the pitch than Category 2 seats.

Ticket Resale Platform

Unlike most major matches across Europe, there is no ticket resale platform for fans. They can't be released to other members of the public to buy, so you receive your money back. UEFA states all sales are final, so tickets ' cannot be cancelled or returned ', whilst their terms and conditions strictly state that they can not be sold to third parties or ticketing websites. However, this won't prevent people from selling their tickets to touts.

However, if the worst happens, and you are unable to attend the final, you can transfer your ticket to a friend or family member through the dedicated mobile app. It will be up to you to arrange payment, but it does provide a sense of security if something prevents you from attending the match in Dublin.

Europa League Power Rankings (2023/24)

Hospitality.

Hospitality is a common site at major football matches now. With corporate partners continually getting given more seats, some have argued it is harder for the 'typical' fan to attend matches. However, if you've failed to get tickets from the previous two options, this could be the best option for you if you have the financial freedom.

All options at the Europa League final come with a prolonged hospitality service starting three hours prior and 90 minutes post-match. This is part of their high-end catering, which has a selection of local and international dishes. Finally, all arrivals are treated with a welcome drink and a matchday programme.

Shared Skybox Platinum

The first, and most expensive, option is the shared skybox platinum. This involves the most central skyboxes, located on the main and opposite stands. They have 50 seats in total. It is available as one package, including a match ticket, seated dinner during and after the match and - remarkably - an official Europa League Final match ball. It's one of the most prestigious options in world football, but - unfortunately - it comes at a price of over £900.

Private Skybox Gold

This option is slightly smaller with just 24 seats instead of 50, but it could be just as good. As part of it, you get a match ticket for your skybox seat, world-class cuisine before, during and after the match, as well as a Europa League final match ball. It is slightly cheaper than the previous option as well at £760, but you still need financial freedom to be able to afford it.

Finally, The Club is a more informal and shared lounge, which allows you still to get a football feel in a more relaxed environment. With this, you get access to the Havelock Lounge, located behind the goal with a pitch view. Coupled with a match ticket for a seat located in front of the lounge, pre- and post-match food and refreshments at half-time, The Club provides yet another option to watch one of the best matches on the sporting calendar.

Europa League final 2023 tickets: Prices for Budapest decider & where to buy

By james cormack | mar 29, 2023.

The 2023 Europa League final will be held in Budapest at the end of May

The Europa League final may not be a bucket list event that, say, the Champions League or World Cup finals are, but UEFA's secondary club competition will mean a whole lot to those supporters whose sides progress into the showpiece event.

Just eight teams remain in this season's iteration of the competition with several European behemoths of yesteryear still going strong. Manchester United , Juventus , and AS Roma sit among the favourites to at least reach the final in Budapest.

While the final at the Puskas Arena is still some time away yet, tickets for the event are set to go on sale soon.

Here's everything you need to know about purchasing tickets for the 2023 Europa League final

How much are 2023 Europa League final tickets?

There's little information to access regarding 2023 Europa League final tickets right now, with more details expected to be released later this month.

Thus, exact ticket prices for the final in Budapest are not yet known. These were the prices for last season's final between Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville:

  • Category 4:  €40
  • Category 3:  €65
  • Category 2:  €100
  • Category 1:  €150

When do 2023 Europa League final tickets go on sale?

A release date has not yet been revealed for 2023 Europa League final tickets. In 2022, tickets went on general sale on 20 April.

Where to buy 2023 Europa League final tickets?

Supporters will be able to purchase 2023 Europa League final tickets via UEFA's ticket portal once they go on general sale.

2023 Europa League final hospitality packages

There are three different hospitality packages for the 2023 Europa League final, but all are sold out on UEFA's website.

The most expensive of these packages - Private Suite Gold - costs €890 per person. UEFA's Private Suite Silver package is €200 cheaper at €690, with the main difference between these two options being where the suites are located. Silver suites are behind the goal, while gold suites are in the main or opposite stand.

Customers in both suites will also receive a match ball.

The Club package also costs €690 per person which grants access to UEFA's Sky Club lounge.

All packages include prolonged hospitality service before and after the match, world-class catering, a live TV feed, a parking pass, and, most importantly, a match programme.

When is the 2023 Europa League final?

The 2022/23 Europa League final is scheduled for 31 May and will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

Atalanta vs Bayer Leverkusen live stream: How to watch Europa League final online

T he Atalanta vs Bayer Leverkusen live stream is a Europa League final that has all the hallmarks of a classic. Seeking to end a 61-year major trophy drought, La Dea are in their first European showpiece, while Die Werkself are still unbeaten in 2023/24 and chasing history — and you can watch it live from anywhere with a VPN and potentially for free!

Atalanta have already secured Champions League football next season, but the Europa League final is about much more than qualification to the continent's biggest tournament next term. La Dea haven't lifted a major trophy since the Coppa Italia in 1963 and failed to end that final hex with a 1-0 defeat to Juventus in the final of the same tournament a week ago. Gian Piero Gasperini's attacking side have knocked out Sporting, Liverpool and Marseille en route to Dublin and much will depend on Gianluca Scamacca and midfielder Teun Koopmeiners if they're to cause the upset.

Bayer Leverkusen are chasing history. Die Werkself are now 51 games unbeaten in 2023/24 and just two matches from securing a so-called 'Invincible Treble'. Xabi Alonso's bright young side wrapped up the Bundesliga at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat of Augsburg and now have the Europa League and German Cup finals to come. Two-nil down with eight minutes to go of the semi-final second leg against Roma, Leverkusen somehow snatched a draw to remain unbeaten. With Florian Wirtz the creative genius and Victor Boniface top scorer, Alonso has built a fearsome side.

Champions League final: The Athletic’s guide to Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid

LONDON, ENGLAND - MAY 30: Branding around the stadium ahead of the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 final match between Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid CF at Wembley Stadium on May 30, 2024 in London, England. (Photo by Brendan Moran - Sportsfile/UEFA via Getty Images)

Welcome to matchday. The Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund kicks off at Wembley Stadium in London at 8pm local time (3pm ET) tonight.

Madrid, one of the game’s most decorated clubs and a powerhouse on the elite stage, take on Dortmund, this season’s fifth-best side in Germany who have punched above their weight to get here. The winners will be crowned champions of Europe.

Wherever you are in the world, we’ve got you covered. In this piece, you will find everything you need to know about the biggest fixture in club football, from tactical talking points to deals with the devil.

Let’s dive in…

Will the ‘Kings of Europe’ add another crown?

Victory at Wembley would secure a 15th European Cup/Champions League title for Madrid. They are the competition’s most successful club by quite some margin ( AC Milan are next with seven titles) and their special hold on the trophy has been a hot topic across The Athletic this week.

Just how do they do it?

The club’s die-hard fans will tell you what it’s all about: the irresistible power of their love story with continental-level glory. Banners at the Santiago Bernabeu hail the ‘Kings of Europe’.

The nature of some of their recent results — comeback after comeback, late goal after late goal — certainly gives oxygen to that claim. There is an oft-repeated half-joke even among more analytical observers that it’s simply impossible to explain Madrid’s success, that all attempts at inquiry will be rendered futile, or worse, by an inevitable stoppage-time turnaround or some other bolt from the blue. Like this one:

Super-sub Joselu wins it ⚽️ #UCL pic.twitter.com/R1AnNKU9nj — UEFA Champions League (@ChampionsLeague) May 9, 2024

Ahmed Walid, Mark Carey and John Muller answered the burning question: are Madrid really impossible to analyse?

Jacob Whitehead and Guillermo Rai took a different approach: a deep dive that includes encounters with the club’s devout and superstitious fanbase — as well as the musings of mystics. Is there some kind of higher power at work?

Dermot Corrigan reminded us that before the miracle of ‘La Decima’ — their 10th European Cup, won in supremely dramatic circumstances — the storytelling around Madrid was really quite different. Tension around achieving the elusive landmark reached feverish fury during years of failure that saw several managers fall.

So Dortmund don’t have a chance?

Faustian bargains aside, there is one clear reason why Madrid are favourites: they have the stronger squad.

The ratings above, based on a model devised by sports intelligence firm Twenty First Group, help show Madrid’s upper hand.

But football is a sport that often springs surprises — especially in knockout tournaments. Just look at Dortmund’s semi-final victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

In the first leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho was sensational, and not for the first time since returning to his former club.

Sancho this season 🤤 @Sanchooo10 || #UCLfinal pic.twitter.com/kNMr6OBoZM — UEFA Champions League (@ChampionsLeague) May 30, 2024

Sancho, along with Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen , provides the pace to complement Niclas Fullkrug in Dortmund’s attack — a centre-forward Alan Shearer admires. They have had great success playing on the break, but their run to the final has been grounded in defensive solidity.

The German side have conceded just nine goals in their 12 matches and kept six clean sheets — their most in the Champions League since 1997-98, when they were defending their European title and got to the semi-finals before losing to… Real Madrid.

That 1997 victory is Dortmund’s only Champions League success. They were runners-up in 2013 against Bayern Munich — and that final was also held at Wembley.

Not many fancy them to pull off an upset, but they have already defied the odds to get here.

What to look out for — Madrid’s left wing

Dortmund did cause a shock by knocking out PSG — who missed chance after chance in the return leg in Paris — but Madrid will be a different proposition.

As we’ve touched on, even though Madrid do seem to thrive in moments of suffering and often score goals against the run of play, there is still a method behind the mayhem.

Ancelotti’s use of a 4-4-2 diamond in possession has allowed plenty of rotations at the top end of the field. These are generally skewed towards the left flank.

In the Champions League this season, 42 per cent of Madrid’s attacking touches have been channelled down their left third of the pitch, where Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo have been taking it in turns to torment the opposition full-back.

They have also opened up a new world for Jude Bellingham .

The €103million (£80m; $111m) summer signing — he joined from Dortmund and that initial fee could rise to a club record with variables — has slowed his scoring somewhat of late, but still none of his team-mates have scored more (with 23, he is level with Vinicius Jr in all competitions).

You probably don’t need us to tell you to keep an eye on Bellingham. The 20-year-old’s transfer market value was recently estimated at a world-leading €280million by the CIES Football Observatory, a Swiss research group. But you might not be as familiar with him as our La Liga writers, who recently shared what they’ve learned from his debut season.

All this firepower up front, with Endrick already signed and Kylian Mbappe expected to join him…

The managers in charge

Let’s mention Carlo Ancelotti first. When he leads Madrid out at Wembley to face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, it will be his sixth Champions League final as a manager and his 1,324th game in the dugout across his career.

He already holds the record for most Champions League trophies won as a manager (four). It will be his 204th match in charge of the competition — another record.

And yet, despite all this, as Dermot Corrigan wrote recently, there remains an idea that the 64-year-old is not really a top coach. Does he get the credit he deserves?

Dortmund boss Edin Terzic, 41, was born in the local region to a Bosnian father and Croatian mother who settled after arriving as ‘gastarbeiters’ (guestworkers). He grew up as a Dortmund fan and this is the only team he has managed in a senior position.

One year ago, he cried in front of the team’s Yellow Wall block of fans as they just missed out on winning the league title. This season, he came close to losing his job, twice. He has faced opposition from his own supporters and, at different times, from two of his most senior players.

But Dortmund have still beaten teams they were never supposed to on their way to tonight’s meeting with Madrid.

The path to the final

New La Liga champions Madrid qualified for the knockout stage ahead of Napoli , SC Braga and Union Berlin. Dortmund, who finished fifth in the German top flight, came through the ‘group of death’, finishing above PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle .

In the last 16, Madrid beat RB Leipzig 2-1 on aggregate, while Dortmund saw off PSV Eindhoven with a 3-1 aggregate win. Then the path to the final was set.

Dortmund will be the nominal ‘home’ team at Wembley and will play in their usual yellow and black kit. Madrid will wear their famous all-white.

How to watch

According to UEFA, the game will be shown in more than 200 territories and will reach 450million people worldwide, with an estimated global average viewership of around 145m.

The final will be broadcast in the United States on CBS/Paramount+. TNT Sports’ deal with UEFA means the broadcaster has to make the Champions League final free to view in the UK.

Auf wiedersehen and adios

Let’s say goodbye — or see you later — with a final word on two departing club legends.

Toni Kroos will play his last match for Real Madrid in Saturday’s showpiece, bringing an end to 10 remarkable years at the club, always lived on his terms.  He is still going strong, but has decided to retire from football after playing for Germany at this summer’s home 2024 European Championship.

Kroos, 34, is one of four Madrid players (along with Nacho , Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal ) who could win a joint-record sixth Champions League medal.

That would bring them level with Paco Gento. Nobody has more than the former Madrid winger, who died aged 88 in 2022. He was a key part of the side that claimed the first five editions of the competition (when it was the European Cup) from 1956-1960, adding another in 1966.

Like Kroos, Marco Reus will also be bowing out at Wembley. The 35-year-old Dortmund legend fittingly scored a free kick in his final home match earlier this month, his 170th goal for the club in 12 years.

Reus played in that 2013 final defeat by Bayern, which was Kroos’ first taste of success in the competition.

Finally winning the club game’s biggest prize would be some send off, before he perhaps moves on to MLS.
