The complete guide to searching award space on Roame.travel

There's a new tool for searching flight award space .

Launched in March 2023, the site Roame.travel allows travelers to quickly search for award flights across many airlines and loyalty programs.

In addition to showing you an airline's award pricing on a particular route, the site also makes recommendations on transfers from credit card rewards programs and takes active transfer bonuses into account.

Perhaps most notably, the site is fast, displaying search results across an array of airlines and frequent flyer programs in a matter of seconds.

How Roame.travel started

The site's co-founder, Tim Qin, says his inspiration for the site came from years of reading TPG and from the dozens of hours it took him and his co-founder to find first-class award space to Asia last year.

"We wanted to save ourselves the time in the future when we planned to do this again," Qin told TPG. "Instead of us searching on all the different airline websites, checking day in, day out, we wanted to create a product for ourselves that was both fast, real-time and able to search multiple programs."

This "passion project," Qin explained, is built around speed. Roame searches are returned in an average of 12 seconds, the company claims.

While free for users, the site also offers paid options with higher caliber features from which the site primarily makes its money currently.

Which programs are covered by Roame.travel?

The site conducts its searches across more than a dozen airline loyalty programs.

Factoring in airline alliances, Roame takes 122 airlines into account, including ones linked to:

How does Roame.travel work?

Here's what the Roame.travel homepage looks like.

You can search for free without creating an account or logging in. However, you'll need to create a free account to fully use the site.

Much like a booking site, you'll start by plugging in your flight origin and destination — whether it's two cities, airports or regions. Then, you'll add your intended travel date(s) and the number of travelers. After you input your desired travel information, the site will display results, the points or miles price and the best options to transfer points for optimum value redemption.

Keep in mind that the site only analyzes one-way flights, so to search for award space for a round-trip itinerary, you must separately search the outbound and return flights.

What are the premium options for Roame.travel?

If you're interested in additional flexibility when conducting searches, Roame.travel offers a couple of paid account options.

The least expensive paid option, the Friends of Roame package, costs $9.16 per month or $109.99 per year. It includes its SkyView program, which makes it so members can enjoy wider date ranges for searches, plus the ability to set flight alerts. You can also search flights between broader regions, such as a trip from the U.S. to Asia, and then see which cities currently have the best redemption options, similar to searching cash deals using the Google Flights Explore tool . This can be helpful if you're searching for harder-to-find redemptions, such as a premium economy or business-class seat to a coveted destination.

A business plan for up to 20 users is also available starting at $291.66 per month or $3,499.99 per year.

How to find an award with Roame.travel

The following are a couple of examples to help you better understand how to use Roame.travel to find an award.

Searching for an economy award

Let's say you want to book an award flight from Newark to Paris in coach for late February.

Once you plug in your details, click the magnifying glass search button on the right side.

The results will quickly populate as the site searches various airlines. Be sure to wait until the progress bar (below) hits 100%.

When the results appear, you can change the filters and sort the results to only show your preferred frequent flyer programs.

You can do the same with credit card programs. For example, if you're not a Capital One member, it probably wouldn't make sense to see recommendations on transferring Capital One miles.

You can also sort results by schedule, travel time, layovers and price.

Once the results finished populating, you'll see the best option displayed at the top of the list of results — in this case, that's a one-way Air France-operated flight for 9,231 points through Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

To book the flight at the listed award rate, Roame.travel recommends transferring 9,231 points from American Express or Chase Ultimate Rewards to take advantage of 30% transfer bonuses some users currently have (but remember, transfer bonuses can be targeted and are not always available to all cardmembers).

As for the return trip, the same deal is available for 9,231 points one-way.

If you decided to book both options with the 30% transfer bonus Roame.travel is factoring into the price, the round-trip total would come out to 18,462 points.

To continue the booking process, you can click on the American Express or Chase logo next to the price for more information on making the transfer.

Once you find the flight you want, go to the recommended airline loyalty program website and search for that itinerary and redemption. If it shows up — in this case, it does for 24,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points (the amount required to take advantage of the 30% credit card portal transfer bonus) plus $372 in taxes and fees — book it.

Searching for a business-class award

To search for a premium cabin award, you'll follow similar steps to the economy award process, though note that you may need to be more flexible with your search to generate results.

For example, if you want to fly from New York to the Maldives at some point in January 2024 but are not tied to a particular date, you would start by searching various dates. If there's no availability on the dates you try, you'll run into this message about a lack of awards available that fit Roame.travel's criteria for a good value redemption.

To increase your odds of finding availability, you can try searching seven-day periods through the site's paid version. Once you find an option, such as this one from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Velana International Airport (MLE) in the Maldives, you'll see a similar breakdown of points required and how to book the flight.

For this business-class itinerary on German leisure carrier Condor, you'd book through the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan . There would be stopovers in Frankfurt in each direction, and the cost would be 65,000 miles each way.

Like the Virgin Atlantic option noted above, your next step for booking this award flight would be to go to Alaska Airlines' website to see if the deal is available there. In this case, it is for 110,000 Mileage Plan miles plus $329 in taxes and fees, so you'd then follow the prompts to complete the booking process.

Things to keep in mind when using Roame.travel

There are a few factors to consider when searching for award space on Roame.travel or similar sites.

Bookings are not made within Roame.travel

Roame.travel helps you search for award availability, but you do not book directly on the site. Instead, you'll need to book somewhere else — typically directly with an airline.

Listed transfer amounts may require some extra attention

When considering credit card transfers for your award booking, it's important to fully understand how Roame.travel got to its displayed price.

In some cases, the site will show you how many of your credit card points are needed after a credit card transfer bonus is factored in, so you'll want to be sure you're eligible for the bonus and follow the appropriate steps for using it to achieve the redemption rate Roame.travel advertises.

There are some limitations to the site

Roame.travel doesn't tap into every airline loyalty program, so know that there may be more options than the site displays, especially for Europe-to-Asia itineraries.

For some of the 122 airlines it covers, the site also warns that its data may be incomplete.

Additionally, the site currently lacks the option to sort by the fees you pay on an award ticket, so you may need to pay hundreds of dollars in fees on some round-trip fares the site displays. This is particularly true for carriers like British Airways. Qin does, however, hope to add this sort feature to the site in the future.

Bottom line

Roame.travel is another tool travelers can use when searching for award flights , as it offers fast search results. However, with enhancements still on the horizon, it may not provide a completely comprehensive look at the redemptions available with every airline loyalty program just yet.

Still, Roame.travel is a great time-saving option for travelers. It can help you find redemption avenues you may not have thought of and even make it easier for you to leverage airline loyalty programs, alliances, partnerships and credit card transfers .

Amazing :) Above and beyond

Amazing :) Karen at friendship travel couldn't have been more helpful. We received emails with information on everything we could possibly need. She was very patient with me when i struggled to check in on the Ryanair app & went above any beyond to sort out alternative flights when Ryanair decided to cancel our original ones. Casa Rosa, where we stayed was perfect. The staff were so friendly and attentive, we didn't want for anything. Our painting tutor was far more than just a painting instructor, she told us so much about the area and helped us in every aspect of our holiday from booking restaurants to arranging a private boat tour, so we could truly relax.

Winter holiday in Fuerteventura

I had a great holiday at Hotel Dunas in Fuerteventura in February. It was good to have some winter sunshine! The host, Colin, was excellent and arranged trips and outings for us. He was also on hand to help if anyone needed it and really made the group gel. The hotel was quiet and peaceful as it was 'Adults only' and not far from the beach. We were not far from the nightlife with a variety of bars and restaurants and 'Music Square'

I spent Xmas & New Year at St Lucia-my first FT holiday, & had an amazing time. I recently had 2 weeks in Cape Verde, again booked with FT & had fun again. The service & help when booking, from FT staff, was excellent, as was both holidays. Indeed, so good, I've again booked with FT, to spend next Xmas & NY at St Lucia. On the holiday to Cape Verde, Boa Vista, our FT Rep was Emma Wilson. In years of holidays, the Reps have been excellent, good, average...'why were they there?'....etc etc. Emma stood out as by far the best Rep I've ever met. Unquestionably, she's most enthusiastic about her job, highly motivated & keen to ensure everyone was having fun! We saw her daily, numerous times, always checking we were OK. We had the special FT table for taking meals, & she ate with us. I'm sum, well done to FT, & also to Emma Wilson! Thank you! X😎

Benalmadena, Spain

Easy and friendly booking service, flight arrived early and met by Friendship rep at airport, then taxi to Hotel. The representative was very helpful and organized trips out and entertainment. Only downside was the Hotel. poor quality food, and often lukewarm. Bathroom not cleaned thoroughly with mould showing between bath and shower screen.

Relaxing and enjoyable week in the winter sun…

Relaxing and enjoyable week in the sun and light of the Costa del Sol in February is much needed after a long dark UK winter with its constant winds and frequent storms and rain. The hotel was OK and close to the sea, and bus routes. However the hotel food was disappointing and was usually warmish rather than hot. Jayne the host was helpful, positive and attentive. Except for the problem of the food it was a good value break.

My trip to Kenya Safari and beach was amazing. Loved every minute and everything was great. Traveling in the jeeps was long. But this is Africa and the transport system not like UK. Also heavy traffic on the ferrys Nort a fault of Friendship travel. The Papillion Hotel was of good standard and staff were wonderful. The company was great.

Forever hotel

Lovely little family run hotel close to hisaronu. Family look after you and rep is always around to answer any questions. Plenty to do by way of excursions in the area, did the jeep safari which was an experience you won't forget. Take a coat, you will get wet, arm yourself with a water pistol to take your revenge on the other jeeps in the convoy. Boat trip is a not too be missed trip either, nothing beats having a lazy day sailing around the coast in your own private boat, stopping to swim in warm bays. Highlight was the lunch which was plentiful with different choices of food on offer. Drinks you have to pay for but are reasonably priced.

Asked for ski holiday quote excluding flights as I was coming from Australia; I emailed I'd meet the group in Geneva, which the website specified as the destination ex-Gatwick for Tignes. Was provided this; tried to book and was then informed (after I've booked my flights) that they fly into Grenoble. No explanation. I ask for coverage of extra transfer - hear nothing for 3-days, then the holiday price has gone up by more than 50%, from GBS985 to GBS1445 - bunch of con artists.

Thanks for your review. I am sorry you had a bad experience with us. Due to the time difference between the UK and Australia we had time lapses in communicating with you , when you were arranging your own flights from Australia to Europe for this ski trip. When we spoke to your after the initial booking and looked to change to a different resort, the room we had were all sold and to buy in another room the hotel charged a higher price. I am sorry this happened. We would advise guests from outside the UK to never book international flights to the UK, until we have everything confirmed in writing from a hotel.

What makes a great holiday is the company you keep. When I book these type of holidays I always ask age profile and gender mix as I would prefer company of people similar to myself. Friendship refuse to reveal age profiles of other travellers on the trip. Had an awful holiday last year with OAP's who through no fault of their own have a different agenda. Get real guys as I cannot be alone with this bad experience. You have lost my custom including 3 holidays this year from me. To reply to Calum, I am not asking for exact ages or names - indicative profiling of those already booked only, which is not breaking any laws.

Hi JDK, I am sorry but Friendship Travel do not keep the ages of guests who travel with us, so we have no way of telling you the ages of people booked. In our 22 years of business we have never been able to give clients the ages of guests booked on a departure. Forever Hotel

Just returned from my second stay at the Forever Hotel. As on my previous stay the owners and their family members could not do enough for you and the rooms, pool, gardens and food/drink are more than you would expect for a 3* hotel. Absolutely brilliant

Absolutely brilliant holiday with Friendship travel in Cape Verde!!! Monica the rep was lovely, and nothing was too much trouble for her, including morning cups of coffee and a massage. The group ‘gelled’ very well, and there was a great deal of fun and laughter both at meal times and in the bar. Travelling as a lone female does have issues, but everything was fine and in place. I’ve recommended Friendship travel to all my single female friends, and I will certainly use them again!!!

Super holiday!

An excellent week at the lovely H10 Ocean Dunas in Correlejo, Fuerteventura. My 3rd visit to an H10 in this area & my 2nd visit to this particular hotel - all with Friendship Travel. Superb location, good food, lovely rooms & very friendly & helpful staff - nothing is too much trouble. The Friendship hosts have always been excellent - Colin who was very helpful & organised when we went into lockdown just over 2 years ago in Fuerteventura & Anita on my recent holiday - very caring, helpful & fun! A great group each time helped of course. Would thoroughly recommend Friendship Travel holidays & definitely the H10 Hotel Ocean Dunas in Fuerteventura!

IT'S NONE OF YOUR FU*KING BUSINESS !

Went to Forever Hotel Olu Deniz. Turkey Pub crawl first night at hotel.. A woman danced with one of our party and her partner was fuming so I quietly informed Jean the rep so she was aware of the worrying situation as she had a lot to drink and was dancing, She screamed 'KEEP YOUR FU*KING NOSE OUT OF IT' , 'IT'S NONE OF YOUR FU*KING BUSINESS !' right in my face - I left the bar. Returned 15 mins later to be abused again so left the group to try to find my way back. Naturally this really messed up the singles holiday . Colum (MD) gave platitudes but did not take it seriously. I'm sure Colum with come with a long explanation BUT when I told the hotel owner Oz , he laughed and said 'that's Jean for you' so the company have accepted this behaviour for a long time.

Hotel Apollon Zante Friendship Travel

I had a similar experience to Deborah Weadock's review at the Hotel Apollon in Zante almost a year later. The hotel is marketed as House Party Hotel and I booked it as I thought it would be a good choice for my first holiday abroad as a single female traveller. However I was verbally abused by large drunken male guest in an unprovoked act of aggression. I complained to the company who closed down my complaint. I was not advised of the company's processes in relation to such inappropriate behaviour. I spent the second week of my holiday feeling very vulnerable and alone miles from home and trying to avoid the guest and any further confrontation from him. Ironic when I had chosen this type of holiday as a single woman to feel safe and in company.

Friendship Travel & Cape Verde

I have recently returned from Cape Verde with Friendship Travel. I have to say they were excellent from booking through to the end of the holiday. I travelled alone from Birmingham airport & was met at the airport by a taxi driver with my name clearly written & taken directly to the hotel where I was met by the UK rep Monica. Whilst Cape Verde itself is quite underdeveloped, the hotel was fab & Monica ( such an enthusiastic & energetic lady, but not overwhelming) accompanied the group (approx 16 of us) on excursions & visits to the local town & a few local bars. Fab weather also helped make the holiday ! I’ve been travelling with FT for 6 years now as a single female & have always felt welcome & safe with this friendly company. Looking forward to another trip with them later in the year 😎😎

Very disappointed.

Recently returned from a short break in Morocco and can honestly say it was the worst trip I have ever been on. The accommodation was basic to say the least and the amenities and food were extremely poor. At least the staff were nice and helpful and I enjoyed a couple of days of sunshine. Will not use this company again as I feel that their description of the break was very misleading.

Memories Hotel, Lindos. Having just returned from 3 weeks holiday there, I think it speaks for itself that I cannot get enough of this hotel as this was the 8th time I have stayed there. Friendship Travel are a very professional firm who go the extra mile to ensure your holiday runs smoothly. The hotel itself is brilliant - from its rooms, location right on the beach, food and entertainment, but mostly because of its competent/enthusiastic staff who make the holiday memorable. I booked a holiday with this company…

I booked a holiday with this company going to Casa Rosa Villa, Olhao, Portugal, going on what the website in November said and also their brochure. On checking later for my holiday in June I found certain facts to be wrong. The “half board” was only 4 evening meals plus breakfast and the 7 minute walk to the “sea front view”, was a marina view! I cancelled the holiday and was only given 40% refund of the holiday price and less flight price. The agent in an email asked if I had checked the latest recently updated website, which was much too late in my case. In the brochure I received from this company “Winter 2022/Summer 2023”it clearly states half board. I can email a photo if anyone would like this. Also an agent from the company confirmed there is a marina view after the 7 minute walk. After making the booking in November 2022 certain facts have been changed on the website.

Hi Janice, further to your 1 star review I tried to call you and discuss the details but you have not returned my call. I am sorry you felt we provided a 1 star service and you needed to cancel. Normally 95% of our guests are happy with the service we provide and if you look on G oogle reviews or F eefo reviews we score 4.5 or higher out of 5 for most reviews. We are all human and do make mistakes from time to time and when we do we put our 'hands up' and try our best to put things right. In the case of your booking, you booked in November 2022 and clearly from your posting and comments to our team you researched the holiday in great detail. Casa Rosa Hotel ( which gets 4 1/2 reviews and up from all clients) has always been located a short walk from the sea front - harbour area. It also has always provided 4 dinners per week in the package, plus excursions plus some lunches. Casa Rosa has always been a short walk from the sea - the harbour sea area - the marina sea area - the port sea area. I am not sure what your point is here, perhaps you might return my call so we can try and figure this out in terms of the sea and the view. Our brochure page says half board ( but does not state how many dinners or lunches included)- on page 9 of our brochure states the exact number of meals will be provided to you. On your invoice it states this. You received a invoice on more than 1 occasion before April 2023. In your package you are receiving 7 breakfasts, 4 dinners with wine and 2 lunches. For me this is half board, I am sorry if you feel it is not half board. It states very very clearly on your invoices that only 4 dinners are included. I am sorry you thought Friendship Travel 'changed' items but this is 100% not the case, Anyone reading this now can look at our printed brochure or web site and see what is clearly stated. Why would someone cancel a holiday and loose 60% of their monies because of the above items .... I am sorry Janice but at Friendship Travel we are baffled... This is a SCAM.

This is a SCAM. The agent posed to be from Emirates Reservations (I dialed their number mistaking that with Emirates, as it popped up in Google search). The number is 1-888-994-0203. He was forcing me to pay for the seats, which were already appearing on my reservation saying that those row numbers (20) does not exist in the plane. He further stated that the travel agent cannot book your seats and if you buy the seats at the airport each seat will cost $250. I got suspicious and asked to talk to his supervisor, which he declined saying the supervisor will give you the same info and no supervisor is available. When I insisted he said this is the reservation number if you want talk to the customer service number and then provided the number. When I called Emirates he confirmed the seats have already been assigned and there is never a charge for this. Do not deal with these guys, they are scammers.

This place is scary

This place is scary , even if they do end up sending you a ticket you can actually use and in time for your flight it's a horrible experience. They never answered my calls it would ring once and sound like a dropped call every time and then 30 min later they return call , purposely I didn't answer just to call right back and guess what ? One ring and dropped call . So fake or real (I didn't do business with them after my bank flagged it ) , it's just way too much of a bad experience over the little money they claim to save you . Stay away

Scam. False advertising. Untrustworthy

"Booked" a flight to NYC, great deal. They called the next day claiming my card payment had been declined, security code was 1 digit off but now the flight offer was no longer available so was going to cost another £400!! No thank you. Cancelled. Suspicious payments followed, had to cancel card. I'm convinced this is just a scam to obtain your personal details. AVOID.

I got a call back within 24hrs to verify my purchase but unfortunately my husband & I were no longer able to fly out on those dates and weren't sure when we could next. This is a follow up on my August 2020…

This is a follow up on my August 2020 review (14 months ago). Just yesterday Friendztravel followed up on my Trust Pilot review asking for details!!! They have a County Court judgement against their name that I successfully brought against them. Fortunately my credit card provider made good the loss I suffered through dealing with these people. Friendz however still need to recompence the Court costs, legal fees and interest loss before we can show the judgement settled. The interest is still climbing day by day over 16 months.

Exceptional customer service

Faced by confusing flight information for a trip to the USA from the UK, my searches mostly getting flights which did not allow checked luggage ( WHO goes to the USA for a month WITHOUT a suitcase??) So far so good

So far so good. Fare was equal to taxes if I had used Avios so I was able to keep those for another adventure, the booking was easy, and each of my flights loaded to the respective carriers websites so I could go on them and reserve seats. Fares even included check in baggage. At present I am very happy and expect to use them again in the future.

For our Stagecoach trip, we selected a luxe, 43-foot, fifth wheel camper , that came with a full kitchen, sitting room, two bathrooms and enough room to comfortably sleep six (no, seriously). While RVs often (unfairly) have a reputation of being pedestrian and basic, this was glamping at its finest, and we were spoiled with more space and amenities that we could have imagined (think working electric fireplace, massage chairs and a master bathroom with his-and-her sinks).

Our RV was owned by Al, who drove the motorhome up from Temecula, a small town about 60 miles north of San Diego. Super friendly and accommodating, Al was quick to walk us through the trailer settings and help us get settled in. While you can correspond with the owners by messaging them on the RVshare site, we felt comfortable enough to give Al our number, and he texted throughout the weekend to make sure we were okay.

We knew we would have a good time at Stagecoach but we were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked our RV too. Coupled with the amenities and activities at the RV resort (think everything from a brand new pickleball court to an outdoor pool and sundeck), it was almost a bonus attraction for our stay. Of course, most of our weekend was spent at the actual festival, where we jammed out to Post Malone and Miranda Lambert, but the experience was enough to make us want to book an RV again for a proper road trip or staycation. As Lambert sang on stage about her “Hell on Wheels,” we were reminded that our RV was anything but. And the only thing better than staying there, was knowing we were just a few clicks away from doing it all again soon.

A new Fantasyland? Peek inside Tokyo DisneySea’s new Fantasy Springs

We’ve come a long way from the “Tangled”-themed restrooms at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

For years, Fantasyland’s picturesque facilities were about as close as fans could get to experiencing the film in person. That’s about to change on June 6th with the opening of Fantasy Springs , Tokyo Disney Resort’s largest expansion since Tokyo DisneySea debuted in 2001.

“ Tokyo Disney Resort is a fantastic, must-visit destination with a truly innovative approach to storytelling. And Fantasy Springs, our breathtaking new port at Tokyo DisneySea, builds on that legacy, giving guests the feeling that they have just stepped into their favorite Disney stories of Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan,'" Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said in a statement to USA TODAY. "We know our guests from around the world appreciate quality experiences and rich detail that only Disney can create, which is why we continue to challenge ourselves with creative storytelling techniques. Fantasy Springs absolutely delivers on that ambition.”

That’s significant for Disney World and Disneyland fans too, because as D’Amaro previously told USA TODAY , “Every time we make an advancement in the way that we bring a ride to life or the way that we bring animatronics to life, all of that gets then used to make every single place that we make even better than the last one.” 

USA TODAY got an early peek at Fantasy Springs. Here are five things fans can expect.

A gorgeous new Fantasyland

“Essentially, what we were trying to do was create a Fantasyland for Tokyo DisneySea,” said Daniel Jue with Walt Disney Imagineering. “Like every Fantasyland, Fantasy Springs celebrates the stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios.”

Fantasyland is one of Disney’s most popular lands across its parks worldwide. (Lands are called ports at Tokyo DisneySea.) 

In Fantasy Springs, characters from films like “Bambi,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “The Little Mermaid” are literally carved into the landscape in larger-than-life rockwork adorned by lush greenery and vibrant flowers in full bloom. Meanwhile, “Tangled, “Frozen” and “Peter Pan” are fully fleshed out in what are essentially mini lands with the larger port.

Disney’s first 'Tangled'-inspired attraction

There are four rides in Fantasy Springs unlike any elsewhere. Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival is the first “Tangled”-inspired attraction at any Disney park. 

It follows the budding romance of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and builds up to the iconic lantern scene from the film. Scores of magnificent lanterns appear to float midair, casting a soft glow on fluid audio-animatronics of Rapunzel and Flynn as they hold hands and sing “I See the Light." They may be singing in Japanese, but “Tangled” fans from anywhere will recognize the tune while gently gliding by in boats.

“This is the most romantic attraction,” Jue said.

Peter Pan and his friends like you’ve never seen before

Peter Pan and the gang were first brought to life in 2-D, but they pop off the screen in the new 3-D attraction Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, which Walt Disney Animation Studios illustrated for Fantasy Springs.

“This attraction is almost like a feature film,” Jue said.

Guests take on the role of Lost Kids joining Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy and little Michael Darling on a mission to rescue John Darling from Captain Hook. A little Pixie Dust paired with the latest ride technology and surround sound makes guests feel like they're really flying along. The ride itself feels long in the best way, clocking in at six minutes, more than twice as long as Peter Pan’s Flight, one of the most popular rides across Disney parks.

On nearby Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies, everything is oversized to make guests feel like they’ve shrunk down to Tinker Bell’s size for a quick buggy ride through the seasons of Pixie Hollow. Don't blink because this attraction is much shorter than the others in Fantasy Springs, but it's filled with rich details like towering flowers, painted butterflies and in one section, the fragrant aroma of honey.

An emotional roller coaster with 'Frozen'

Fantasy Springs’ "Frozen" attraction is no repeat of EPCOT and Hong Kong Disneyland’s Frozen Ever After. Instead, Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey retells key points from the first “Frozen” film, focusing on the relationship between the two sisters. 

“Our guests in Japan really respond to having an emotional connection to our attractions. It’s very, very important,” Jue said. Imagineers thought the best way to nurture that connection was with the film’s iconic music and matching ride movement. 

For instance, when young Anna asks Elsa if she wants to build a snowman and Elsa tells her to go away, the boat reverses to reflect that isolation. “That is such a sad moment and backing out of that and dropping down, I mean, your heart sinks as you physically sink out of that scene,” said Emily “Emo” O’Brien with Walt Disney Imagineering.

The attraction's high tech audio-animatronics are also moving. When true love thaws Anna’s frozen heart, she really appears to unfreeze.

A taste of the films

Fantasy Springs' three mini lands are called Frozen Kingdom, Peter Pan’s Never Land, and Rapunzel’s Forest. Each has a themed counter-service dining venue for guests who want an actual taste of the films. 

Frozen Kingdom’s eatery is set inside Arendelle Castle and called Royal Banquet of Arendelle. There’s also a walk-up venue called Oaken’s OK Foods. Lookout Cookout is a Lost Kids themed counter-service restaurant in Peter Pan’s Never Land. The restaurant in Rapunzel’s Forest is right out of “Tangled.” Fans will want to make sure to walk through each room of The Snuggly Duckling to take in the Easter eggs.

For fans who really want to stay in the stories, there’s also a new Fantasy Springs-themed hotel adjacent to the new port called Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel with its own park entrance. It's primarily a deluxe hotel, but there are more than 50 luxury rooms with balconies overlooking Fantasy Springs.

"There is no other hotel that even Disney has built that has these views, where you really feel you are immersed in the entire land," Jue said.

Animal Well Review: "One of the Most Impressive Metroidvania Titles of Recent Years"

In Animal Well , it is possible to travel fast, but players will find it a slightly more obscure method than in traditional games. Players cannot fast travel by moving from checkpoint to checkpoint, such as in games like Dead Cells , but there are ways to fast travel once you have unlocked a certain number of hidden items . This will make it easier to move around the map and make the latter half of the game a little less tedious.

Animal Well has many Metroidvanian features , and it has heavily puzzle-focused gameplay. This includes finding items that open up new routes and new ways to do things, such as with the Frisbee disc . There is a heavy amount to find, and one of these things will be hidden eggs , which are crucial for players who wish to fast travel.

Animal Well is a fantastic 2D puzzle platformer, using the Metroidvania structure to create a mysterious world full of secrets to discover.

Finding Hidden Easter Eggs

Players who want to fast travel must first find eight hidden eggs - it doesn’t matter what order or which eight you find. These eggs are hidden in black chests throughout the map and are often protected . Players may have to solve a puzzle or uncover a false wall, or even in one of them, but they must do so to find the hidden eggs.

There are 64 hidden eggs, some of which cannot be found until you get more items. However, players should be able to easily find the first eight. If you need help, nocaps has found all the hidden eggs in the above video, which you can reference.

Once found, these eggs will appear in an “ Egg Shrine ” within Animal Well with a series of doors and multiple shelves. You will unlock the first door when eight eggs have been found, leading you to the Animal Flute . This is the item players will need to be able to fast travel throughout the game.

Play A Sweet Melody For Your Animal Friends

After you pick up the Animal Flute, head to the top right exit in the room. There will be sleeping chinchillas; you can wake up by playing your flute to get to the door. Once there, you will find a Crow with a gleam in its eye . Play the Animal Flute for it, and it will open its mouth, allowing you to jump in. This will transport you to the fast travel room .

Once you enter the room, you will see the heads of animals on the walls throughout the massive maze . Feel free to explore the room, as there is much to see. When you activate the obelisk by playing your flute again, some animal heads will open, revealing shortcuts to areas you have already visited . Hop in any of these animal heads to take the shortcut to another part of the map.

As you venture through Animal Well , you will uncover more fast travel points, and more animal heads will open.

A More Complicated Melody

A lot of steps were involved in making it to the fast travel room the first time, and you won’t find yourself wanting to go through the Egg Room every time you want to fast travel somewhere else. Luckily, there is another way to get to the fast travel room . This also involves the Animal Flute, and you should not leave the fast travel room the first time until you have figured this mechanic out.

There is a ladder descending from the fast travel room into a room below, where a fish is popping in and out of a pond . This code for using the Animal Flute will inform players how to return to the fast travel room. The fish faces certain directions in a regular rhythm, and by matching his rhythm, you can play the same notes on your Animal Flute .

The rhythm is Right, Right, Left, Left, Down, Down, Up, Up . Entering the notes on your flute this way will instantly return you to the fast travel room from anywhere on the map . This will allow you to pop into any animal head you have uncovered and travel elsewhere. You will be able to see where the fast travel spots on the map are, as they appear as little white dots on the map, much like in some of the other best Metroidvanias like Animal Well .

Finding The Right Wand For The Job

Another method of travel in Animal Well can lead you in new directions. These are the fish pipes that can be found throughout the map . You will need to find and unlock the B. Wand (or the Bubble Wand) to use these pipes. These are often used to solve puzzles, but they can also shoot you across the map quickly if you need to go in that same general direction.

To find the B. Wand, you must find the Seahorse puzzle and go through its room in what amounts to a boss fight. If you make your way past the Seahorse, unlock the path in the left corner of the room, and platform through it, you will find yourself in a new room that allows you to unlock a chest holding the Bubble Wand . Then, you can use whatever fish pipes you want to solve puzzles and occasionally zoom across the map.

While the fish pipes may not be a traditional fast travel option, they still have their uses. This, combined with the power of the Animal Flute, should allow you to get across the map quickly in whatever direction you want. This will help you collect the rest of the eggs and find the true ending of Animal Well .
