It’s been a decade since Gospel Music legend Bill Gaither assembled the celebrated Homecoming family of artists for a videotaping before a live audience; however this summer Gaither reunites the Homecoming friends for an exciting two-day two-concert musical event at Tulsa’s Mabee Center. Since 1992 when Gaither first began his Homecoming DVD & CD series nearly every volume has been certified gold or platinum. For three decades Gaither took the prestigious Homecoming Tour to cities nationwide with collective attendance figures exceeding 1.1 million. Named ASCAP’s Songwriters of the Century Bill and his wife Gloria have written more than 700 popular Gospel songs throughout their career and have collectively received eight Grammy Awards and more than a dozen nominations as well as two dozen Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association. Bill and Gloria Gaither Bring An Oklahoma Homecoming to Tulsa in 2-Day Concert Taping

On August 19 & 20, Gospel Music legends Bill & Gloria Gaither will present the Oklahoma Homecoming at the Mabee Center in Tulsa. Over the course of two days, more than a dozen Homecoming friends will gather for the first live concert video-taping in more than a decade. Tickets for this exciting event are on sale now!

After decades of unprecedented musical success, in 1992 two former school teachers turned songwriters were on the verge of retirement. An avid fan of Gospel quartets throughout his childhood, Bill Gaither founded his first group, The Bill Gaither Trio in 1956 while in college. A few years later he would meet his future wife, Gloria Sickal. The two would marry in 1962 and go on to become arguably the most successful Gospel songwriting team in history, collectively penning more than 700 songs and becoming ASCAP Songwriters of the Century.

Before retiring, Gaither gathered his multi-talented quartet, The Gaither Vocal Band, and a few of his long-time heroes like Jake Hess, Hovie Lister, Eva Mae LeFevre, Howard and Vestal Goodman, James Blackwood, Glen Payne, George Younce and JD Sumner to record the classic song, Where Could I Go. “The plan was to go in that morning, record the song, eat some fried chicken and go home,” Gaither remembers. “We had a camera guy in the room video taping, really just for my own personal pleasure, and we decided to take a picture before everyone left. After we took the picture, Eva Mae was sitting at the piano and someone said, ‘Hey Eva Mae, play this’…then everyone started singing. About four hours later, we were still sitting around, singing, sharing stories, laughing and crying, and no one wanted to leave. We had lost all track of time.”

When Gaither got the video footage home, he showed it to his wife, Gloria, and the two decided it was something that needed to be shared with the world. Now, 30 years later the Homecoming music collection has become a phenomenon that has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. The series gave birth to the Gaither Homecoming concert tour, which has taken place in cities worldwide with collective attendance figures exceeding more than 1.1 million, while nearly every volume in the the DVD & CD series has certified gold or platinum.

Excitement permeates as Gaither talks about creating another Homecoming event and his return to the Mabee Center for this two-day summer music spectacular. “We definitely want all our friends to mark their calendar and be a part of this event. We love going to the Mabee Center. It’s one of our favorite places. It can get hot in August, so we can all come in from the heat into a wonderful, air-conditioned, recently renovated facility and enjoy a great weekend of music.”

“For almost 45 years, the Gaithers have entertained Tulsa audiences with their incredible style of Southern Gospel,” Tony Winters, Mabee Center General Manager shares. “The Gaithers have performed at the Mabee Center more times than any other artist in our history and we are extremely excited to have them back for this wonderful Homecoming event.”

One of the reasons the connection between the Gaither organization and the Mabee Center has worked so well for nearly five decades, is the phenomenal staff at the Center, as well as the ideal location of the city of Tulsa. “Tulsa is a short drive for our friends throughout Oklahoma, as well as states like Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and even Louisiana,” Gaither states.

The Oklahoma Homecoming brings together more than 20 artists on one stage for a weekend that has the promise of being quite historical. “When we started talking about doing this event, many people asked if this was going to be my last Homecoming,” Gaither says with a chuckle. “I must confess, I don’t know. It could be my last, to be honest, who knows, but I do know that while I still have the opportunity I certainly don’t want to miss out on the privilege of bringing many of my Homecoming friends back together for a weekend that I know will be something really special.”

This special weekend will feature Gaither’s own Vocal Band, consisting of Wes Hampton, Reggie Smith, Adam Crabb and Todd Suttles, as well as Gaither alum Mark Lowry, Grammy-winner Jason Crabb, Grand Ole Opry members The Isaacs, Gospel Music Hall of Fame members The Nelons, as well as popular multi-award winning groups like The Hoppers, The Sound, and Jeff and Sheri Easter. Additionally, popular Homecoming artists set to appear include Lynda Randle, Bradley Walker, Joy Gardner, Ladye Love Smith, Charlotte Ritchie, Gene McDonald, Wesley Pritchard, Ann Downing, Angie Primm, Woody Wright and maybe even a few special surprises which Gaither always seems to bring to events.

This band is so blessed with incredible talent and uses it to worship our Lord and spread the good news about Jesus. It was an awesome worship experience. You could feel God’s presence in the sanctuary. I would highly recommend going to hear them. They also add humor to the performance that was very enjoyable.

We had an INCREDIBLE time!!! By FAR the best concert I've EVER been to!!!! It was well worth every cent we spent for the tickets and travel expenses!!!!

The concert lasted 4 hours, but I would've stayed longer if they'd have kept singing!!!! We sang,laughed, cried and worshipped! What an amazing evening!

If you love gospel music, this is the concert to spend your hard earned money on!

Bill & Gloria Gaither Release Two New Homecoming Series Recordings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2023) Gospel music icons Bill and Gloria Gaither are back with two new Homecoming Series recordings, Power In The Blood and Hallelujah Homecoming (Gaither Music Group), out now.

The Gaithers and their Homecoming Friends gathered in Tulsa, OK, at the Mabee Center, for a weekend of sweet fellowship, inspiring messages and LIVE performances resulting in the creation of these two new audio and DVD recordings.

“We had a wonderful time at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, OK, recording new videos,” stated the event’s founder and three-time Gospel Music Association Hall of Famer Bill Gaither, who was honored by the Mabee Center during the weekend’s events for holding the record for the most performances of all time at the arena with a total of 40. “It is always a joy to fellowship with so many lifelong friends. We revisited some Gospel classics and were honored to have veteran artists on stage who have been recording with us for many decades. In addition, we enjoyed performances from some newer faces to the Homecoming stage, and it is thrilling to see these what these young folks are doing. The spirit in the room was a special one, and we think you are going to enjoy getting to experience all of this right where you are.”

Power In The Blood showcases 15 new recordings including Gospel classics “The Love of God,” “I’ve Never Been This Homesick,” “Revive Us Again,” “If That Isn’t Love,” and “Power In The Blood” with performances by Homecoming favorites Lynda Randle, Jason Crabb, The Nelons, the Gaither Vocal Band and more.

Hallelujah Homecoming features more than 15 favorite songs such as “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “The Baptism of Jesse Taylor,” “Because He Lives” and “Give It Away” with performances by Mark Lowry, Jeff & Sheri Easter, The Isaacs, Marshall Hall, the Gaither Vocal Band and more special reunion performances.

Power In The Blood and Hallelujah Homecoming is now airing as a TV special, hosted by Bill Gaither, on networks including PBS, DISH TV, DirecTV, TBN, RFD -TV, GaitherTV, FamilyNet, CTN, GMC, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT and TLN. It will air in Canada on Vision TV, CTS, The Miracle Channel and Hope TV.

Over the course of the two-day event, more than a dozen of Gospel Music’s most popular artists will be featured. Tickets go on sale May 3 to the general public!

Bill and Gloria Gaither have become arguably the most successful Gospel songwriting team in history, collectively penning more than 900 songs and becoming ASCAP Christian Songwriters of the Century. Over 30 years ago the two produced the very first Homecoming CD and Video. Now, three decades later the Homecoming music collection has become a phenomenon that has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. The series gave birth to the Gaither Homecoming concert tour, which has taken place in cities worldwide with collective attendance figures exceeding more than 1.1 million, while nearly every volume in the DVD & CD series has certified gold or platinum.

This Gaither Homecoming event unites Gospel music’s finest on stage for two exciting afternoons that are sure to delight attendees of all ages. The event will feature multi-Grammy Award winning recording artist The Gaither Vocal Band, as well as Grammy winner Jason Crabb and popular comedian Mark Lowry. Other artists scheduled to appear include The Hoppers, The Nelons, The Sound, Angela Primm, Chris Blue, Joseph Habedank, Jeff & Sheri Easter and many others.

There are approximately 3,500 parking spaces on a lighted surface lot adjacent to the Family Arena. Handicapped parking is available in the southwest corner of the arena lot. Parking fees can vary based on event needs and are specified on each event listing on our site. Please see the event page for show specific information.

VIP Parking - $30

VIP parking is located on the south side of the arena across from the main entrance. VIP parking is an additional fee. Guests wishing to be dropped off or picked up before or after an event should use the South parking entrance. A separate two-lane drive with a turn-around lane allows guests to be easily picked up or dropped off. This area also provides temporary parking for purchases at the ticket office.
