Robinsongs are delighted to announce three fantastic Lakeside albums on a Double CD release, "Shot Of Love", "Rough Riders" and "Fantastic Voyage" plus bonus tracks. Lakeside were described as "The Rolling Stones Of Funk" by lead vocalist Thomas Shelby in a recent interview with Funk Chronicles: "We didn't have a ton of major hits, but nobody wanted to come on after us. But the hits they did have all became funk anthems". "Shot Of Love" was originally released in late 1978, and charted on the Billboard album chart the following year. The album contained the hits 'It's All The Way Live', a Top 5 R&B single, and 'Given In To Love'. The 'It's All The Way Live' single version is available as a bonus track on this package. "Rough Riders" was released in 1979 and contained the singles 'Pull My Strings' and 'From 9:00 Until' and again those versions are available on this release as bonus tracks. To finish the set "Fantastic Voyage" was Lakeside's biggest album, which was a Top 20 Pop album and featured the No. 1 R&B single of the same name, and the follow up 'Your Love Is On The One', another Top 20 R&B Hit. Package contains sleeve notes by Christian John Wikane a New York based writer and music essayist and contributing Editor for PopMatters.

One or two slow ballads on an album is fine, but this one has 3 (really 3.5 out of 8) which is a bit too much, especially considering all the songs (except the last short one) are 4.5 to 6+ minutes long. Nothing bad here, but with a bit of trimming and adding just 1 or 2 more strong funk tracks, this could have been a great album instead of merely a good one. Regardless, it will be a timeless classic just for having Fantastic Voyage on it. Best tracks: Fantastic Voyage, Your Love Is On The One, Strung Out, Eveready Man
