10th International Tourism Fair “Place2go” in Zagreb

place2go international tourism fair

Between 24th and 26th March, 2023, Zagreb hosted the 10th International Tourism Fair “Place2go” which is the largest fair of its kind in all Croatia. The event each year hosts around 620 exhibitors from 36 countries. As part of the "Programme for the Promotion of the Economic Basis of the Hungarian National Community", we, the representatives of the Pomurje Hungarian Self-Governing National Community, participated at the event for the first time.

The event lasted for three days and gave a chance for exhibitors and visitors to connect. Our participation was very successful because, for the first time, we could present to Croatian and foreign visitors the natural and cultural sights of Prekmurje, its possibilities for adventures, its events that aim to preserve old customs and its culinary richness. We also provided visitors with interesting and versatile promotional material: publications for children and adults, our map with cycle routes, travel diaries, leaflets and other small and practical merchandise items.

PLACE2GO Tourism Fair: More than 200 exhibitors from 17 countries from various fields of tourism will be presented.

It is our only tourist fair..

Author  HrTurizam.hr

At today's press conference, the program of the jubilee, 10th international tourism fair PLACE2GO which will take place in Arena Zagreb from March 24 to 26 .

As announced, more than 200 exhibitors from 17 countries from various fields of tourism will present themselves to the audience this year.

"This year's 10th PLACE2GO fair is more challenging than any before. Ten years should be justified by the quality, but also by the quantity in the number of exhibitors and visitors. In previous years, exhibitors have accompanied and supported us in our mission to create a tourist fair that Croatia as a tourist destination will not be ashamed of. The interaction between us as organizers, exhibitors, business visitors and the audience helps us to be on the right track. This year's fair brings us some new destinations that have not exhibited at our fair until now, primarily Algeria as a partner country, but also exhibitors from Albania and Bulgaria, for whom this is their first appearance at the Croatian tourism fair. Some exhibitors are returning to us after many years, and an increasing number of exhibitors are coming to us from the immediate neighborhood, as well as Lipe naše", pointed out Damjana Domanovac, director of the fair.

Algeria as a partner country: "We want to use your expertise, but also show you what we offer"

As Domanovac pointed out, the fair has a partner country every year, and this year for the first time it will be Algeria. " This fair is a great opportunity for deepening bilateral relations between Algeria and Croatia, for bringing Algeria closer to Croatian citizens, but also for mutual exchange of knowledge between two countries that have numerous tourism potentials. Algeria is the largest country in Africa, which is full of historical sights, seven of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Algerian Sahara desert is a phenomenon in itself, and many tourists are surprised by the fact that we also have a 1200 km long coast on the Mediterranean Sea. " said the ambassador of Algeria in Croatia, N. E. Mokhtar Amine Khelif .

It was also announced that at the PLACE2GO fair, Croatia and Algeria will sign a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two Mediterranean countries and increasing the number of mutual tourist trips.

In addition to the unknown Algeria, visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to get to know other exotic locations such as Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, but also the newly discovered destinations of Albania and Bulgaria and the war-affected Ukraine. Among the exhibitors are well-known destinations such as Austria, the Netherlands and Italy, as well as neighboring countries - Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The anniversary edition brings famous B2B panelists and influencers

The tourism fair PLACE2GO - more challenging than any before

  • 20.03.2023.

The jubilee 10th tourism fair PLACE2GO brings us a lot of exhibitors, but also a lot of exciting things. In addition to the countries exhibiting for the first time, this year Algeria will be introduced for the first time, which is also a partner country. But, of course, that's not all...

According to its organisers, this year's 10th international tourism fair, PLACE2GO will be more challenging than any before. Primarily because it brings some new destinations that have not been introduced so far.      The program of the 10th PLACE2GO fair was presented recently, and the fair will be held from March 24 to 26 in Arena Zagreb . Among the more than 200 exhibitors at the fair, three new participating countries will appear - Algeria as a partner country and exhibitors from Albania and Bulgaria, who will present their tourist offer for the first time at the Croatian tourism fair.

The jubilee PLACE2GO fair is an opportunity to deepen relations

This year, at the 10th anniversary fair, Algeria was selected as a partner country. The organisers see the fair as an excellent opportunity to further deepen relations with this largest African country . It is an opportunity to bring Algeria closer to us and exchange knowledge between two countries with huge tourism potential.       On March 24, a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism is planned to be signed at the fair, which aims to strengthen cooperation between Croatia and Algeria, two Mediterranean countries, and increase the number of mutual tourist trips.      In addition to little-known Algeria, visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to get to know other exotic locations such as Malaysia, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates, but also newly discovered destinations such as Albania and Bulgaria and the war-affected Ukraine.      Among the exhibitors are well-known destinations such as Austria, the Netherlands and Italy, as well as neighbouring countries - Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The most important trends in tourism on three panels

The PLACE2GO jubilee fair not only presents new destinations, but also significant names in the tourism industry . Namely, this year several interesting B2B panels will be held where the future of tourism in Croatia and abroad will be discussed.      The fair wants to focus on the B2B aspect of tourism in order to further encourage cooperation and the development of tourism products. As part of this year's fair, three panels will be organised, which will deal with essential trends in tourism:      Panel "AI - the new virtual revolution": is intended to discuss artificial intelligence and its impact on tourism. Panellists will discuss the application of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector, such as personalised experiences, chatbots and other forms of automation.      Panel "Sustainability in tourism - from theory to realisation": intends to discuss examples of sustainability in tourism that have already been realised in practice. Panellists will present concrete examples of sustainability in tourism, from tourist destinations to carriers and hotels.      Panel Nautica 240+: panel on the potential of Croatia for the development of year-round nautical tourism intends to discuss the possibilities of the development of year-round nautical tourism in Croatia. Panellists will discuss various aspects of this type of tourism, from infrastructure to necessary promotional activities.

Panel Nautica 240+ - pushing the boundaries of seasonality

The Nautica 240+ panel at this year's PLACE2GO fair aims to highlight Croatia's potential for developing year-round nautical tourism . At the same time, we would like to encourage discussion on the possibilities of developing and improving infrastructure and promoting and improving the quality of services in this tourism branch.      The panellists will focus on the importance of the year-round availability of nautical infrastructure and especially on solving challenges in winter when the tourist season declines.      Selma Čmelik , founder of the čarter.hr platform, will also attend this panel, moderate the discussion and present her experiences on nautical tourism in Croatia. In addition, the panellists will discuss the needs and wishes of guests in the nautical charter and how to provide quality service throughout the year. The promotion of Croatia as an attractive nautical destination on a global level will also be discussed.      The panel aims to highlight the importance of developing year-round nautical tourism as one of the essential branches of tourism in Croatia and how to improve the existing offer to attract new guests and stimulate further tourist consumption.      In addition to the founder of the charter.hr platform Selma Čmelik, some of the panel participants will be: Aco Momčilović (Global AI Ethics Institute), Vedran Srhoj-Egekher (JellyRide), Zoran Pejović (Jadranka turizam), Todor Bobev (CEO TouchMenu), Marina Komarić (Expedia), Goran Rihelj (HrTurizam), Luka Kalember (Ban Tours), Danijela Podhraški (Danyelle Yachting) and Maja Ban (MYS Yachting), Rudi Grula (Director of TZ Međimurje County), Nuša Korotaj (CEO Terme Sveti Martin), Luka Jureško (COO Submarine Burger), Marina Komarić (Expedia group).

PLACE2GO presents various exhibits and brings famous influencers

During the weekend, the PLACE2GO fair will be dedicated to travel enthusiasts . Except from the exhibitors' perspective, customs, flavours, costumes, and culture of the world will be presented to the visitors by various lecturers and influencers .      Attractive stands with unexpected contents will be exhibited at the fair, which will give visitors an insight into novelties and trends in tourism , such as a prefabricated glamping tent, which will represent a new trend in the tourist offer.      Numerous exhibitors also prepare valuable prizes for visitors, including round-trip plane tickets to various destinations. Croatia Airlines, as the general sponsor of this year's fair, emphasises that PLACE2GO will be an excellent opportunity to push the boundaries in tourism.      At the PLACE2GO fair, our well-known influencers will reveal how the love for travel started and share tricks on choosing a destination, booking a flight and accommodation, and preparing for the trip. Some will explain in more detail what happens when travel becomes a business.      Dejan Nemčić, "the best professor in the world", and Ribafish ", the best gastro blogger among professors", will reveal how the world can be interactively discovered even from the classroom. Tips on creating content will be shared by Putoholičari, and the "Putoklinci" platform will reveal all the secrets of travelling with little ones to parents. World traveller and musician Ida Prester will lead the program again this year.

Presentation of Croatia through the lens of visitors

The organisers of the PLACE2GO fair, in cooperation with HTZ, launched an initiative to show Croatia through the lens of visitors #ljepotaHRVATSKE . Therefore, they are looking for 20 of the most beautiful photos to adorn the fair screens and show our country in all its glory. This is the most authentic way of presenting the country's natural beauty , architecture, gastronomy, flora and fauna to numerous foreign exhibitors.      Each person can submit a maximum of three photos, and the jury will choose twenty of the most beautiful to be part of the fair. This is an excellent opportunity for all lovers of photography who have the chance to present their works to the public.      The director of the PLACE2GO fair, Damjana Domanovac , expressed her satisfaction that visitors will have the opportunity to see the beauty of Croatia from different perspectives and thus contribute to the promotion of tourism in the country.      The patrons of this year's 10th anniversary fair are the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Croatian Tourist Board, the City of Zagreb, and the City of Zagreb Tourist Board. Moscow Presents Its Tourism Potential at the SATTE 2024 International Exhibition in India

New Delhi [India], February 24: Moscow Tourism is taking part in the largest international travel and tourism trade fair SATTE ( South Asia's Travel & Tourism Exchange ) that is taking place in Greater Noida , NCR, India from February 22-24. The delegation is one of the largest at the event: it includes representatives of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, the Made in Moscow project team, and other representatives of the city's tourism industry.

Representatives of the Moscow City Tourism Committee took part in several business sessions and presented the capital's flagship projects during the first day of the event on February 22. For example, during the discussion on cultural heritage, the tourism committee highlighted about the Moscow Estates festival, which has already gained popularity among foreign tourists last summer and this winter.

Moscow is among the world leaders in terms of the number of historical mansions. More than two thousand architectural monuments have been restored in Moscow over 12 years. The festival allows guests to immerse themselves in the history of manors through theatrical tours, master classes and other unusual events. This interactive format of studying cultural heritage is especially suitable for children and young people. Visitors to the festival, including tourists, appreciate the recreated atmosphere and the opportunity to take beautiful photographs.

Another flagship project of the capital is Moscow Tea Time. At Moscow exhibition stand guests can taste tea blends and learn about the Moscow tea traditions. The project takes place right now in Moscow hotels and restaurants. Every day from 16:00 to 19:00, visitors can try different tea time sets, offering a variety of jams and pastries.

"Moscow hosts over 350 colourful cultural and entertainment events every day, which are suitable for both young people and families with children. Business travellers are united through international forums and congresses. For Indian tourists, Moscow is not only a city of impressions, but also a convenient metropolis for travelling. We have more than 19,000 gastronomic establishments, including restaurants serving Indian cuisine. Hotels are developing offers specifically for guests from India, and tourist navigation is duplicated in foreign languages, which makes the trip even more comfortable," said Evgeny Kozlov, First Deputy Head of the Office of the Mayor and the Government of Moscow, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee.

As part of the SATTE business programme, interregional routes of the "Moscow +" project were presented. Foreign travellers, including guests from India, often seek to combine visits to several cities in one trip. That is why the capital as a transport hub, from where travellers most often start their journeys around the country, demonstrated ready-made tourist offers combining Moscow and other regions: St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Moscow Region. Russian tour operators - participants of the project -discussed their package offers for the Indian tourist market.

Moscow is a recognised centre of commerce and offers a wide range of shops and brands. At the exhibition, the city presented a rich assortment of traditional souvenirs made by participants of the "Made in Moscow" project. Sixteen Moscow entrepreneurs brought goods in various categories: grooming cosmetics, home fragrances, HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering/Cafe), children's products, accessories, as well as vegetarian and vegan products, which were of particular interest to Indian consumers.

Cooperation between Moscow and India is developing rapidly -both in the sphere of classic tourist trips and business tourism. Business visits have become one of the most popular purposes of trips from India to Moscow. Representatives of the Moscow City Tourism Committee talked about the opportunities of Moscow within the framework of business tourism. For example, the Moscow City Tourism Committee shared the successful experience of organising the international conference Meet Global MICE Congress in the field of business tourism in the Russian capital.

The Gzhel theatre, which is rightfully a visiting card of Moscow, also performed at the exhibition. It is a unique dance company that combines folk and ballroom dance, as well as classical ballet in its repertoire. "Gzhel" successfully tours all over the world, introducing the audience to the bright folk traditions.

Moscow is one of the main tourist destinations in Russia. In 2023, the capital was visited by 24.5 million tourists from different regions and countries - this is 37% more than in 2022. Today there are almost 2,000 hotels in Moscow. Thanks to the wide choice, every tourist will find a suitable accommodation option. Hotels are most in demand during holidays and major city events.

There are thousands of cultural sites in the capital: theatres, museums, libraries and others. The city preserves its rich cultural heritage and creates new points of attraction. In recent years, iconic historical and cultural sites and entire territories have been renovated and reconstructed - for example, the country's main exhibition, VDNKh. The Northern and Southern River stations have been reopened. These are not only important transport hubs of the city, but also places of recreation, new tourist attractions.

There are 19 thousand food industry enterprises in the city -from world-famous restaurants to accessible Moscow gastroclusters. If you had breakfast, lunch and dinner at a new establishment every day, it would take 19 years to try them all.

The capital is a city of panoramas. You can admire the views from a cabin of the Moscow cable car over the river, from the highest skyscrapers, from the soaring bridge in Zaryadye, from observation platforms in the city centre and other districts of the city, not counting the view restaurants that guests traditionally include in their travel plans. In summer, residents and tourists can relax on beaches and swim in outdoor pools, walk along eco-trails in natural areas, and play sports on specially equipped platforms in parks. Also, over the last 10 years, 40 embankments have been built in Moscow: walking along them, one can take 86.5 thousand steps.

Moscow offers many opportunities for child and family holidays. The city has many points of attraction for family tourists that do not depend on the season: for example, the Moscow Zoo, one of Europe's largest oceanariums, Russia's first indoor amusement park Dream Island, and others. The capital has more than 400 museums and more than 1000 excursions available - including walk-quests for parents and children. In 2023, the city was named the Capital of Children's Tourism, as well as the Youth Capital for 2024.

Moscow City Tourism Committee organizes conference for Indian MICE market stakeholders

New Delhi [India], April 24 (ANI): Recognising market demand, the Moscow City Tourism Committee organized a conference for representatives of the Indian MICE industry, to introduce them to the tourism strengths of the Russian capital.

MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, and is a type of tourism in which large groups, usually plan things well in advance.

The event took place on April 19 in Delhi and brought together over 100 participants from MICE agencies of both countries, corporate customers, representatives of the travel industry in Moscow, Aeroflot and the Indian branches of Sberbank.

Business tourism is one of the most promising directions for Moscow.

In 2023, the capital was visited by 3.7 million business tourists – 7 per cent more than in 2022. And India remains one of the leaders among visitors from non-CIS countries in terms of the number of business travellers.

“The Russian capital as a centre of business tourism and corporate events is already an established and a strong brand in the international arena,” commented Anastasia Popova, Deputy General Director for International and Industry Cooperation of Project Office for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality in Moscow.

“Now our task is to demonstrate to our Indian partners all the possibilities of organizing high-value MICE events in Moscow in combination with already proven tourist programs,” said Popova.

At the Shaping MICE Future Conference, industry experts from Russia and India pronounced statements and speeches on the future of MICE events in these two countries, a presentation of the MICE potential of Moscow was showcased, and an analytical report on the state of the outbound MICE market in India was presented to the visitors.

During the panel discussion, participants assessed the current status and interaction peculiarities with the MICE market in India and developed recommendations for the MICE industry in Moscow during the general brainstorming session.

Representatives of the Indian MICE industry participated in B2B negotiations to find new cross-partners in the Moscow business environment and among representatives of the hospitality industry.

Representatives of the MICE industry took part in the event from Moscow.

Among them were DMC (Grand Rus, Academservice, Headed Goose, Satguru Travel, Isba Rus, Hug the Bear, Mellenium Group) as well as representatives of other partners interested in the development of MICE cooperation between Russia and India: Global transfers provider i’way and hotels Edge Seligerskaya and Edge Vinogradovo Moscow by Rotana.

“In 2024, we have witnessed a significant surge (more than quadruple) in the demand for transfers by Russians visiting India, both for business and leisure purposes. Muscovites are leading the trend, with 80 per cent of transfer bookings originating from the capital since the beginning of the year. Additionally, we observe a growing interest from Indian tourism agencies in exploring Russia, resulting in a substantial increase in our collaboration,” commented Dmitriy Saraykin, co-founder of Global Transfer Provider i’way.

The Shaping MICE Future conference allowed the Moscow City Tourism Committee to form a pool of MICE industry representatives in Moscow to prioritize incoming requests for events and clarify India’s requirements for business and corporate events to build mutually effective work. Indian colleagues received up-to-date information about Moscow as a safe and attractive MICE destination and were able to find potential partners among representatives of the MICE industry of the Russian capital and were able to present the MICE market in India.

“The event served as a remarkable platform for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration within the tourism industry. The event provided us with invaluable opportunities to engage with key stakeholders from the tourism department, as well as tour operators and service providers. The insights gained during the event underscored the Moscow City Tourism Committee’s keen interest in the Indian outbound market, and we are optimistic about the promising prospects for Moscow as a destination, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape. We firmly believe that with concerted efforts and strategic initiatives, Moscow has the potential to emerge as a top-choice destination for Indian tourists,” said Mudit Mathur, director of Tours Delite India, representing Academ Service – Russia in India.

The conference also assessed the solutions to foreign demand for non-standard venues and elements in MICE programs, such as museums, parks, theaters and others. Holding MICE events at offbeat locations, such as the State Historical Museum, the Moscow Planetarium and Khudozhestvenny Cinema, is becoming popular.

This helps to attract conference organizers and creates a unique experience for the participants. Working in this format, many visitors who come to Moscow on a business trip want to return with their families and spend time as regular tourists. (ANI)
