Customer testimonials.

Thank you McLean Scotland for creating and delivering the Tour of a Lifetime!!

I HIGHLY and STRONGLY recommend this company for your Scotch tour!!

This comment might seem strange, but to be honest, we didn’t really believe the quote we got for Liz and Paul. It was around 5-6k. We actually replied, 5k per person, right? We were surprised to find that was the total. The going rate for a week(ish) tour with big box (non-bespoke) companies in 2021 were 3-4k per person. If the price seems too low, it might raise red flags. It did with us, which is why we asked Liz and Paul to video chat to make sure it was real! I’m not suggesting that you jack up prices, but maybe address your pricing philosophy face up?

Hi Paul. Back in Sweden and delighted to find my wonderful lab still recognises me (as does my wife). I think we had a brilliant tour, in fact the best ever, and as always it's a pleasure being on the roads with you. Apart from being a great companion, you share so much about Scottish history and culture which you know I'm always keen to learn more about.

I liked in particular the scenery going from Ballachulish to Tyndrum in Glencoe – a road I'd never travelled before. The best views I've ever had in Scotland. I think we have a solid plan for next year so let´s keep in touch about that.

First time we used MCLEANSCOTLAND.  They were honest about what we would be able to see. It truly was a vacation of a lifetime. It was everything we dreamed about! And we saw as much of Scotland that we could possibly fit in 10 days. Forward five years – we decided to do a whisky tour with them.

They did all the driving, so many distilleries, so many laughs, drank so much whisky and had the time of our lives. Our whole trip was truly magical!  There are not enough stars to give them rating they deserve.

MCLEANSCOTLAND are an absolute joy to communicate with. Professional, knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, and awesome with communication. The way they communicate is vastly different from the other 7 companies that I contacted for the tour. The tour schedule was WOW!! So detailed, well planned, organised and thought out.

You guys truly listened and tried your hardest to schedule events tailored to our wants and it definitely showed! Once again, totally different from the 7 other companies I contacted. The price was great! You scheduled an incredible tour to the budget that I gave.

Your long experience was evident and we very much enjoyed stories about Scotland such as details about the clans and other information he provided along the way. One hotel you chose was fantastic for us. Quirky and fun, the host seemed very energetic. The dining room and bar were surprisingly busy for mid-week and the food was excellent. It was nice to take a bit of a rest in such a peaceful place and we stood in a field looking at stars for a good hour. Breakfast was excellent. We loved every bit of Islay.  Our walk on the beach was wonderful. We were happy to catch the standing stones on the mainland, definitely worth the stop at least for us. After switching drivers we were able to make a detour to the Glen Coe area and stopped at a pull-in to take some pictures...a highlight of the trip for us...it was quite impressive.  Overall, we had an absolutely incredible time and made a ton of new memories. I would write more about it how wonderful it was, but I have to be off to work now!!! Thanks again, and we really are excited about our next trip...which would have to include the Isle of Skye.

Go on a small group tour complete with a distillery visit

If you’d like an introduction to whisky, join a guided small group tour that includes a visit to a distillery.

You’ll soon find out that this honey-hued tipple is more than just a drink to the Scots. In fact, it’s been an important part of Scotland’s culture for centuries. Although the oldest licensed distilleries here date from the late 1700s, the locals have been producing whisky from malted barley since the 15th century.

During your distillery visit, a local tour guide will show you how Scotland’s malt whiskies are made and talk you through a tasting experience.

Throughout the rest of your tour, you’ll explore Scotland’s stunning landscapes, historic sites, and top attractions with your knowledgeable guide. Plus, in a group of no more than 15 guests, you’ll get to know your fellow travellers and have opportunities to ask your guide questions.

As well as being an unforgettable way to uncover Scotland without taking the wheel yourself, small group tours are perfect if you’re travelling solo . So why not embark on a tasting adventure with like-minded whisky lovers from around the world?

All guided small group tours in Scotland include: • Stays in handpicked accommodation • Transport in a comfortable minibus • Professional English-speaking guide • Daily breakfast and some meals • Welcome pack with our Scotland travel guide • Your own detailed itinerary and a map of Scotland

Add a whisky-tasting or distillery tour to your travel package

If you’d like to discover Scotland differently, there are other ways to appreciate the local whisky. For instance, you could add a visit to the highly recommended Scotch Whisky Experience to your tour package as an optional extra.

For the freedom to go at your own pace, opt for a self-drive tour of Scotland . Being able to stop whenever you like means you could check out distilleries you pass along the way.

Do bear in mind that Scotland’s drink-drive limit is zero. So, if you plan to do more travelling that day, make sure to ask the distillery you’re visiting if you can get a takeaway tasting pack. This will let the designated driver try the warming whisky samples once you get to your accommodation.

Head out on a road trip of a lifetime. Uncover scenic routes and iconic sights in this round-up of the best road trips in Scotland .

On the other hand, pick a Scotland private tour , and you’ll benefit from the services of your own driver-guide. If you have a favourite whisky, they'll advise you on the best itinerary that incorporates the distillery. Plus, with someone else at the wheel, you can sit back and listen to local insights as you soak up the beautiful scenery.

Alternatively, base yourself in Edinburgh on one of these multi-day trips in Scotland , where you’ll take day tours into the countryside. With a combination of handpicked excursions and free time in Edinburgh, they’re ideal for getting a flavour of Scotland.

Discover the capital city of Scotland. Make your visit unforgettable with this curated list of the top things to do in Edinburgh .

Scotland’s whisky regions

In Scotland, distilleries are everywhere. Or that’s what it feels like once you know there are over 130 active distilleries. You’ll find them dotted throughout the country’s 5 whisky regions: Speyside, the Lowlands, the Highlands, Islay and Campbeltown.

On these guided small group trips, your whisky-tasting tour in Scotland will be at either a Lowland or Speyside distillery. If you’d like to visit other areas for a Scotch tour, Scotland self-drive packages give you opportunities to stop at whisky distilleries in the Highlands as well. This includes iconic west coast distilleries such as Talisker on the Isle of Skye.

If you already know a little about whisky, you’ve probably heard that each region is known for its characteristic flavours. But go on a Scotland distillery tour, and you’ll soon find out that there’s also lots of variation between brands.

Venture to Speyside – home to the Malt Whisky Trail – and you could try whiskies with light, fruity or rich sherry notes. Tour Highland distilleries and you can expect spicy or maritime drams.

Then there’s Islay, where some of the world’s most famous whiskies come from. Here, you’ll find peaty, smoky single malts from distilleries like Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Bowmore.

Get a taste of Scottish cuisine

If you’re interested in Scottish whisky, there’s a chance you’ll also want to delve into the local food scene . Scotland has plenty of top-notch eateries dishing up mouthwatering plates.

Look for refined tasting menus at Michelin guide-listed restaurants, noteworthy seafood shacks, and cosy cafés with platters of delicious home baking. Not to mention the traditional pub serving hearty favourites like haggis, along with a selection of ales and well-stocked whisky shelves.

Plus, with restaurant picks from Nordic Visitor's travel consultants, you’ll sample the best local cuisine along the way.

Well-organised tour

Great communication, well-organised, very knowledgeable and personable guide, overall a great tour with no negatives whatsoever!

We were in good hands

As first-time visitors to Edinburgh, and senior citizens, our choice to use Nordic Visitor was an excellent one. The welcome package we received at the hotel was really helpful, with our tour vouchers, maps and restaurant recommendations. We would not have known what hotel to select and the one selected for us was perfect. The choice of tours offered was perfect for a 5-day visit. So glad to learn about the Royal Mile and visit the castle. The trip through the Highlands and Loch Ness was beautiful. Our travel agent, Rebecca, always quickly responded to email questions prior to departure. Thank you! Nordic Visitor made our trip easy and rewarding. We were in good hands.

Our guide was exceptional

Our overall experience was very good, minus some accommodation that we did not like as much as the others. What made the tour exceptional was our guide, Dave. His knowledge of Scotland and professionalism made the trip. He was awesome about tailoring each day's itinerary to our likes and taking us off the beaten path to experiences and sights that we would never have found on our own.

The tour package materials were top notch. Spiral bound itinerary, recommended activities, restaurant recommendations and the large-scale road map of Scotland were a nice touch. Magdalena, our Nordic Visitor representative, responded promptly to our questions. Accomodation was all great.

One of the best trips we have ever taken

The entire experience was excellent. Nordic Visitor made it easy for us, although we are amateur travellers. Our guide was the absolute best, we couldn't have asked for a better person. He was able to convey his experience and amazing knowledge to make the trip both fun and educational. One of the best trips we have ever taken, thank you!

Our travel consultant was a delight to work with

Rebecca was always prompt with responses to questions and always informative, always patient. We're first time (and older) travellers and her professional manner was a delight to work with.

Our experience was so special

Airport transfers were excellent. Drivers were on time and friendly. Accommodation was all good. You couldn't have paired our family with a better guide/driver than Dave. He made our Scotland experience so special by taking us off the beaten path and showing us some of the most beautiful natural sites and places in Scotland. We covered 1000 miles in distance in our 7 days. We learned so much from Dave.

We loved every day!

This was our first travel outside of North America and we loved every day! We toured around Scotland, starting in Edinburgh, to the Highlands, Isle of Skye and finishing in Glasgow. It was a busy tour, and we didn't see all of Scotland, but we saw so many interesting places, met a lot of wonderful people, ate haggis, drank whisky and had such a fantastic time that we did not want to leave. We are already saving for our next trip!

The most magical trip!

From communicating with Nordic Visitor, booking my trip, arriving at the airport and be welcomed by our driver Paul, each hotel, every meal, our amazing tour guide, Anita, our drivers, Gary and Stevie… everything was so perfect! It was the most magical trip!

Seamless process

We did a self-drive tour including the Orkney islands. The entire process from booking to flying home was seamless. Our accommodation was all amazing, especially the B&Bs. Our daily itineraries were great starting points for activities, and none of our days felt rushed or slow. We also appreciated the restaurant and travel guides. Scotland is amazing, and Nordic Visitor made the entire vacation worry-free.

Enjoyed my tour so much!

I enjoyed my tour of Scotland so much! Booking with Nordic Visitor was so easy. Their itinerary showcased highlights across the country, so I feel like I experienced the best of the best! The communication from our tour consultant, Duncan, was prompt and detailed. It was so comforting knowing that Nordic Visitor was only a phone call away 24/7.

Our private tour guide, Pete, was phenomenal, and all of our accommodation was great! My husband is disabled and Nordic Visitor took every needed step to ensure our B&Bs could take care of his needs.

You will then visit Glen Scotia  distillery. Although one of the smallest distilleries in the country, Glen Scotia punches well above its weight and its fine single malt is highly regarded amongst whisky connoisseurs.

You can also catch a glimpse of the Jacobite steam train from the  Glenfinnan Viaduct Viewpoint  and take in the ‘must see’  Glenfinnan Monument .

For lunch today you will be tucking into some delights at Crannog , a pretty, red-roofed seafood restaurant serving fresh seafood and allowing wonderful views over Loch Linnhe.

You will then be taken to the  Ben Nevis Distillery . Nestled at the foot of the famous Ben Nevis, this is an impressive setting indeed for a distillery. You will embark on a guided tour of the distillery, visiting the old warehouse (dating back to 1862) and enjoy a special audio-visual presentation. You will then visit the production areas with your Ben Nevis Distillery guide. Finally, of course, your whisky tour would not be complete without tasting a few delicious Ben Nevis drams.

You will then travel around the glorious banks of Loch Ness . We suggest having your camera at the ready, as the glistening waters at Loch Ness are hard to beat.

The roads around Loch Ness will eventually lead you to  Urquhart castle . Urquhart Castle was built in the 13 th  century and played a key role in throughout the wars of Scottish history. We suggest walking up the Grant Tower and enjoying the breath taking view of Loch Ness and beyond. Tucked at the bottom of the castle is the ghastly prison cell which held many a man captive back in the day.

From there you will be driven to Inverness and your accommodation, the Ness Walk Hotel , which sits right on the banks of the River Ness and enjoys an oasis of calm in Inverness, an otherwise busy city, as it is surrounded by a huge canopy of trees. Here, beautiful period features combine with sleek modern features to deliver an ambiance that oozes sophistication.

You can also sample some of the whisky and if you like what you taste there’s a gift shop to buy for yourself, or as a gift for friends and family perhaps.

The tour will end with a tasting of some delicious Glenmorangie highland single malts.

Day seven ends with a visit to Chanonry Point (Gaelic: Gob na Cananaich) on the Black Isle, widely acclaimed as the best place in the UK to see bottlenose dolphins from the land. Also, keep an eye out for seals, porpoises, and otters. The lighthouse at the tip of Chanonry Point is still active and was first lit back in 1846.

From there you will be taken back to Ness Walk for the evening and be dining once more in the fantastic Torrish .

Day 8 – Cairngorms & Perthshire

Accommodation: Fonab Castle, Pitlochry (1 Night) Distilleries: Dalwhinnie.    Dinner: Sandeman’s Restaurant

Your first stop today is Dalwhinnie Distillery . Surrounded by the freshest spring water and peat from local bogs, Dalwhinnie is a whisky making mecca. The single malt crafted at Dalwhinnie has many of the classic traits of a Speyside malt: sweet, slightly tangy, and notes of vanilla. You will tour the distillery and learn about the art of scotch whisky production. At the end of the tour, you will be treated to a complimentary whisky and chocolate tasting.

Next, you will visit The House of Bruar where you will enjoy a spot of lunch and do some shopping. This upmarket shopping centre has a huge range of tweed clothing and outdoor wear, as well as many items for your home or perhaps a gift for friends and family.

Remember to save some room after lunch because you’re in for a treat at the next stop, The Highland Chocolatier . Master Chocolatier Iain Burnett crafts premium chocolates that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Only the finest and freshest natural ingredients are used, such as the single-origin cocoa sourced from São Tomé, an island in the South Atlantic. Here you will experience a guided tasting session which will teach you all about becoming a Master Chocolatier, how such premium chocolate is made, and, of course, sample some of Iain’s world-famous velvet truffles. If you have a special someone you want to buy a gift for, this is the spot as Iain’s truffles have not once but twice been voted the best in world.

Having no doubt stocked up on chocolates, you will be driven to your accommodation for the night, Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa . This 5-star hotel and spa has been restored to the highest standards and enjoys picture perfect views across the Perthshire countryside and the river Tummel.

In the evening you will enjoy exquisite fine dining in the 3 AA Rosette Sandeman’s Restauran t. Surrounded by wood-panelled walls and ornate furniture, tuck into the seven-course tasting menu full of classic dishes with an extra twist.

Day 9 – Lowlands

Accommodation: The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh (2 Nights) Distilleries: Lindores Abbey.    Dinner: Johnnie Walker Blue Room (JWPS)

In the morning you will travel to Lindores Abbey Distillery . You will embark on a private tour, learning all about the history of their 12th century site and of course the barley to bottle production process. Finishing with a private tasting in their Legacy Tasting Room.

Your next destination is the famous town of St Andrews , the ‘Home of Golf’ and Scotland’s oldest university. Here you can explore the historic streets, particularly Market Street, which are littered with fascinating shops full of souvenirs and gifts.

For lunch you will dine at Forgan’s , a restaurant with a quite marvellous dining space. High ceilings with windows provide lots of natural light, while the décor provides an up-market but laidback feel. The staff at Forgan’s are truly special and will ensure you are properly looked after. If you are so lucky to be there on a Sunday, their Sunday roast specials are certainly not to be missed. After lunch, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along West Sands Beach, an idyllic spot.

You will then drive over the Forth Road Bridge, making your way to The Balmoral , Edinburgh’s most prestigious hotel.

In the evening you will have dinner and drinks at the Johnnie Walker rooftop bar and restaurant which commands unrivalled views over the Edinburgh skyline.

Day 10 – Edinburgh

Accommodation: The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh Distilleries: Holyrood.    Dinner: Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar

After a relaxing breakfast, you will be met by a private guide who will take you on a walking tour of Edinburgh . You will get to see many of Edinburgh’s most cherished attractions and landmarks. You will begin by strolling along Princes Street Gardens, the dividing line between Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns. This area of the city was previously a loch, which was notoriously used as a site for “witch ducking”, as well as dumping waste. However, in 1820 the loch was drained, and the most beautiful gardens were created in its place. You will then visit the Scott Monument, a huge and elaborate monument to one of Scotland’s most famous and prolific writers and public figures, Sir Walter Scott. Taking great pride in our literary legends, this is the second largest monument for a writer in the world.

From there you will head up to Calton Hill, a fantastic viewing point for taking in both the cityscape of Edinburgh, as well as Arthur’s Seat and the Pentland Hills further off in the distance.

You will stroll up the historic Royal Mile, passing traditional pubs, souvenir shops, and street performers. If you fancy something to drink, we recommend visiting the Jolly Judge, a little hidden gem which provides a warm Scottish welcome and a cold pint to cure your thirst. Your next stop will be St Giles Cathedral. The church was formed in the 1120’s and is known as the ‘Cradle of Presbyterianism’. The architecture and design are breath-taking, though the highlight has to be the beautiful stained-glass windows.

Your final stop on your walking tour will be Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle was voted Scotland’s best paid tourist attraction and for good reason. The castle is steeped in history with the oldest part of the building dating back to the 12th century. The castle houses the famous Crown Jewels, The Stone of Destiny, and Mons Meg — the huge cannon which could fire a 150kg stone.

For lunch you will be sampling the delightful menu of Holyrood 9a , a cosy little pub in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town offering a huge range of salads, burgers, steaks, venison, and, since you’re in Scotland, a haggis burger.

You will then get a chance to enjoy a tour of Holyrood distillery , one of Scotland’s newer distilleries. Here you will learn all about the creative ways that the team at Holyrood are crafting exciting and unique whiskies. The tour rounds off with a tasting of four Holyrood drams.

You will then head to the Scotch Whisky Experience to take part in the Gold Tour Experience. This is a tour like no other. You begin by going on their whisky barrel ride which whisks you through the production process of Scottish whisky. You are then tutored on the various aromas that can be found in whisky, before viewing the largest collection of Scottish whisky in the world. And of course, you get to try four distinct regional malts, giving you an idea of what your favourite type of dram is. You even get to keep a crystal tasting glass.

Sadly, this will be your last whisky stop of the trip before you dine in the luxurious Amber Restaurant in the evening. However, don’t worry, its full name is the Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar, so there will be plenty more opportunity for a dram or two. Tuck into venison, baked seabass, roast squash risotto, or sirloin steak.

From there you will retire to The Balmoral once more for a final restful night before heading home in the morning.

Whisky Tours & Breaks

Whisky tours & breaks.

Uisge beatha…water of life…whisky…savour a dram or several of Scotland's national drink on a tailor-made whisky tour.

In Scotland it is whisky, in Ireland whiskey. Whichever spelling you prefer, every distillery has its own twist or take on what makes their liquid extra special. Whether you consider yourself a single malt whisky connoisseur or would simply like to discover more, why not devote yourself to our “amber nectar” on a whisky (or whiskey) tour?

Tailor-Made Whisky Breaks

We know the best places to stay close to the finest distilleries, and we even know where you can bottle and label your own personalised malt. Our range of Scotch whisky tours and holidays is limited only by the number of distilleries in Scotland! Whether you wish to sample the delights of Speyside, the peaty aromas of Islay whisky, or head off the beaten track to Talisker on Skye , Highland Park on Orkney or Springbank in Campbeltown, we can design a tailormade Scottish whisky break to suit.

For those who wish to stick to the mainland, Speyside – regarded as Scotland’s whisky country – is a must visit. With over 50 distilleries to choose from, you are sure to discover your new favourite tipple! Simply breathing in the air will give you a flavour of the spirit maturing slowly in casks within the towering warehouses of the many distilleries. Spot the black lichen clinging to exterior walls – a sure sign of the vapours from within. Not to mention the surrounding area is the centre of Scotland’s castle trail, so there is more to discover than distilleries. The cosy hotels are sure to have a cosy fire and extensive bar – the perfect place to end each day – and sample a dram or two, of course.

In some places, you can visit two or three distilleries in a day, if your aim is to compare or contrast. If you are seeking a trip that includes some island-hopping or maybe a round or two of golf, just let us know when you enquire, and we will prepare a custom-designed proposal for you.

Whisky Tours for Bespoke Groups

If you are travelling in a small group of six or more, we can design a trip just for you and include the services of a driver/guide. For an example, take a look at the  Whisky Explorer Escorted Journey . As part of your journey, enjoy dinner at Edinburgh’s Scotch Whisky Experience and view the world’s largest private whisky collection ( pictured above ).

At McKinlay Kidd we know Scotland intimately – we have stayed at, eaten in, driven through and sailed across everywhere we recommend. We may have sampled a few drams over the years too! This means we can advise on the special places and the quirky corners as well as famous destinations. So do take a look at the holiday ideas on this page. Remember, we can also tailor-make a holiday in Scotland with a whisky theme, so just let us know what you would be interested in.

We can also plan a holiday or vacation for you that combines both Scotland and Ireland .

Edinburgh is filled with tempting nooks that urge you forward to explore the depths of the city. The narrow lanes feel like a labyrinth until they wind back to a familiar avenue. Old storefronts are filled with modern shops and world-class restaurants. The cobblestone streets provide cacophonous echoes that bounce off old walls made of stone. The urban village of Cramond sits near the mouth of the River Almond and creates a bright picture perfect area that combines landscape, charm, and history; from the Romans in the 2nd Century AD to a Bronze Age settlement dating back to 8,500 BC. The nearby riverfront is decorated with ruined mills and roman relics. Your private guide meets you at the airport and escorts you to your hotel located in central Edinburgh. The aroma of smoky wood and malt is never far away and settles you into the luxuries of the city and the soon to come flavors of Scotland.

What's Included:

The First of Many Flavors

The capital of Scotland is filled with an unmistakable energy that loops through the streets. You see the powerful image of Edinburgh Castle standing on the Castle Rock. The ramparts wrap around the cliff’s edge and the cobblestone streets lead to neighborhood of Old Town. Your introduction to the fine history and historic flavors of Scotch whisky begins at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre. The center is located on the Royal Mile, which was the road that leads from the castle entrance to Holyrood Palace.

In actuality the mile runs around 321 feet. You find the center located in a traditional two-story building with bright windows. When you enter the building you are greeted with the alluring aroma of charred wood with a hint of caramelized sugar. Venture through the entire distilling experience. A short presentation offers you insight into the five regions of Scotland known for their techniques and flavorful concoctions. You are handed a card that offers you a scratch-and-sniff recreation of the aromas of each drink for you to immediately understand the differences.

The deeper you venture into the distillery the more you see, from the copper stills to the oak barrels. At the end of the tour you find a bar with a collection of hundreds of Scotch whiskies from around the country. Let your guide take you on another journey through the aromas and flavors of the various labels, dissecting each taste into its specific herbaceous, floral, or fruity scent. The day is young and your time in Scotland has just begun.

Beginning Distillation

Today you venture northbound outside of Edinburgh. The cobblestone streets and towering Edinburgh Castle change to undulating hillsides and verdant grasslands. Arrive in Perthshire and find a distinct variety of scenery. Uncultivated tracks lead into narrow winding lakes. Villages stand beneath unimaginable forests. Five distilleries are located in Perthshire that represent some of the smallest and oldest distilleries in the country. After you visit the 17th Century Palace of the Stuart Kings you will arrive at Edradour Distillery, established in the first quarter of the 19th century. The distillery buildings look like a village. The exterior walls are painted white and the roofing resembles quaint thatched roofs.

The doors shine red against the white walls. You are greeted like an old friend and encouraged to walk around the grounds. Edradour is known for its handmade single malt whisky. You follow your guide and are quickly enticed by the fresh aroma of malt. The sounds of fizzing water emanates from the buildings. You are given an in-depth whisky tasting to experience the great variety of characteristics that comes with age and region. When you sample Edradour 10, a single malt aged 10 years, you catch drift of the fruity and vanilla aromas. You taste a bit of rum-sweetness and toasted almonds that finish on a smooth and pleasant note.

Castles and Royal Appointments

Pass over calm streaming rivers and stone arched bridges in the stunning countryside around Royal Deeside. En route, you pass over the highest main road in Britain at 2,182 feet above sea level. The mountains are brawny but the fields are lush. Balmoral Castle was constructed in the mid 1800s for Queen Victoria and continues to grace the region in both structure and spirit. The white stone edifice is decorated with lush vines. The grass looks like an effervescent field. The grounds cover around 50,000 acres. The castle resembles a classicist’s dream, providing a fairytale structure surrounded by storybook landscape. The ballroom is elegant in its display of Landseer paintings. The royal silver decorates the tabletops and glints in the room’s natural light. Royal Lochnager Distillery is situated next to Balmoral Castle grounds. The aromas of light toffee and planed wood beckon you closer for a day’s tasting.

Touching Celebrity

The silvery-gray granite of Aberdeen calls to you in the early light. The city ripe with wealth and grew from the stone of the Rubislaw Quarry. The sunlight shimmers off of the gray stone buildings and provides a lively shimmer to the day. Today you will embark on a wave of the toffee colored libation that the Scots call “Water of Life.” Your trail takes you beyond the bustling shopping center of Union Street, away from the early morning visit to Aberdeen, into the fertile landscape of Moray County, and visiting the famed distilleries of Glendfiddich, Glenlivet, and Macallan. The stone building of Glenlivet sits in an open field. The countryside is lush and open.

The hills roll in the distance against the horizon of blue sky. The newer tourist center is made of glass and allows you to see into the copper stills. The staff is knowledgeable about the distillation method and the history of the Glenlivet. The remote location in both altitude and distance provides unadulterated flowing water and the clarity of a pure product. The aroma of the whisky filters through the scent of lush grass, farmland, and sweet marshy riverbanks. When you taste the Glenlivet aged 12 years you find notes of apple and elements of creamy citrus that blend perfectly with the area’s boundless nature.

Coastland to Highland

The Moray coastline is enrapturing in its raw power and beauty. Crags have been shaped by wind, rain, and waves. The strong stones have been carved out and left with incredible holes that look like giant doorways. Travel along the roadway for a scenic drive that offers views of the cobalt sea. The beaches range from white sand to waves of spikey rocks. Near Bow Fiddle Rock, named for its resemblance to a bow fiddle, the grassland blossoms with purple and pink flowers, breaking up a bit of the lush greenery that leads to the pebbled shore. Off the coast you may see dolphin pods leaping out of the water.

You can join a tour and make your way on the water to view the dolphins and whales in their natural habitats. Dolphins love to play in the wakes of boats. Whales breach the water and splash down in the distance. Venture inland to Inverness and stop at Culloden Battlefield. The plain contains stones that mark various regiments to help commemorate the battle and the lost. The battle took place in the 18th century and was the last battle to take place on British soil. Each stone commemorates a specific clan. The small stone tower towards the tree line is a memorial for the English.

The Greatest Heights

The banks of the River Spay are quiet and calm in the morning. The sunrise pierces through the thin layer of early mist that brushes over the hillside like a thin veil. People wade into the waters upstream from the hustle of Grantown on Sprey village and fly-fish. Their lines arch and angle in the air before gracefully plopping into the river. The water courses around the fishermen. The area is filled with a variety of distilleries and stunning walks, including through Rothiemurchus Forest. The Caledonian trees stretch from the riverbanks to the plateau along Cairngorms National Park. Much of the landscape has belonged to the Grant family since the 16th century.

The scenery undulates between towering trees, open grassland, and posturing mountaintops. Capercaillie, a fowl, which looks similar to a turkey, but is also known as the wood goose, roams freely in the forest. They can grow up to a 33 inches in length with a wingspan 49 inches. Dalwhinnie Distillery is located 1,164 feet above sea level and is one of the highest distilleries in the country. You can see the golden coloration of the single malt whisky before you arrive at the distillery, sparkling like a treasure. The smooth texture and hints of honey provide a lingering satisfaction that turns the pleasurable journey transcendent.

Another Taste of Scotland

You leave behind the high mountain plateau of the highlands and wind through the Trossachs. The stunning beauty of the landscape rises out of the grassy hillsides and expansive lake. Small, lush islands rise out of the cobalt waters. The hills are thickly forested away from the waterway and have been a popular and romantic getaway for the British since the 19th century. Nearby is Stirling Castle. The stronghold was built atop a large cliff that overlooks the flatland. The rock is solid and steady. The stone edifice is equally stoic and impressive. Trees rise up a portion of the cliff. The castle as it currently stands was constructed in the 14th century. The stronghold has always been thought of as the key to holding Scotland.

Six rooms were constructed by order of James V, three for the king and three for the queen. The suites are flush with color and elegant fireplaces. It took years to hand weave the tapestries that hang in the royal chambers that depict an entourage hunting a unicorn. The exuberance of the landscape illuminates the opulence of the castle. The aromas of the historic stone lift in the slight breeze. In the surrounding buildings hold battle history and original murals that date back to the 17th century. Old letters from the 19th century provide insight into the mindset of noble soldiers during World War I and World War II.

Drifting Aromas

In the distant hills around Stirling the sun spotlights the monument of William Wallace. The single tower rises over the trees atop the summit known as Abbey Craig. The tower was constructed in the 19th century and stands 220 feet tall. The sandstone provides a strong exterior against the vivacious scenery. The sounds of people walking on cobblestone streets and the picturesque Edinburgh Castle overtake the memories of Stirling County. Your private transfer escorts you to the airport for your flight home. You can imagine the way each castle and glen looks today. You can hear the free roaming creaks and streams rushing through the hillsides. You remember the layers of aromas that filtered out of each glass in every distillery you visited.

Detailed Description

The wonders of Scotland can be experienced in so many ways. Whisky here is more than a drink; it's a birthright. This 9-day Scotland tour  is meant for Scotch connoisseurs and whisky enthusiasts, landscape lovers and castle seekers, and the just plain curious and spirited. Each distillery offers an assortment of flavors and history bottled and packaged, meant to be enjoyed. You will find elegance in palaces and exuberance around Loch Ness. You will be guided through cities, the wilderness, villages and a wealth of tastes that you never knew existed.

Your journey begins with your arrival in Edinburgh. The city is home to an historic castle and ancient villages, cobblestone streets and hidden alleyways. Explore the city and find the beauty of its old façade filled with modern culture. Spend time in the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre to begin your journey of the different flavors of the five whisky producing regions of Scotland. Outside of the city, you will come to Perthshire and the palace of the Stuart Kings.

Visit a local distillery known for producing its single malt by hand. The lakeside view provides peaceful glistening water and flowing grassland. Follow the road to Royal Deeside to visit Queen Victoria’s royal palace and the distillery located right next door - just another reason why it’s good to be the queen. The nearby Cairngorms Mountains fill the horizon. The large city of Aberdeen has a silvery glow. Explore the secluded distilleries of the county, which include Glenfiddich, Glen Grant, and Macallan.

Take time to view the exceptional Moray Coast. Step aboard a local boat and enjoy the sea air as you search for dolphins and whales. Grantown on Spey leads you into a collection of woodland walks that wind through Rothiemurchus Forest. Brave the distance and altitude to visit one of Scotland’s highest distilleries. On your way back to Edinburgh you can explore the Trossachs woodland area and tour the lavish Stirling Castle. After your return to Edinburgh, your private transfer will escort you to the airport for your flight home.

Edinburgh to Oban

Depart at 10:00am from 242 Morrison Street, Malones Pub, Edinburgh.

On our way to Islay, we make the journey from Edinburgh to Oban. On the way to Oban, we drive through and past the world-famous Loch Lomond and Trossachs national park.

Although this is an Islay Whisky Tour, we know that Highland distilleries provide a great introduction to traditional whisky distilling.

Our usual lunch stop is the Drover’s Inn. With over 300 years’ worth of visitors, the walls of the Drover’s Inn could certainly tell a tale. This historic and well-known building has welcomed hundreds of thousands of people, including Rob Roy and Gerard Butler! Other places, we use for lunch are Deanston distillery, Glenturret distillery and the Tyndrum Green Welly.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is a national park in Scotland centred on Loch Lomond and the hills and glens of the Trossachs, along with several other ranges of hills. It was the first of the two national parks established by the Scottish Parliament in 2002, the second being the Cairngorms National Park.

The Park consists of many mountains and lochs, and the principal attractions are scenery, walking, and wildlife.

When we arrive in Oban, we will visit the Oban distillery.

Most people agree that the best way to travel to Islay on an Islay Whisky Tour is to break up the travel time with a stop in the Highlands. The time in Oban includes: a fantastic distillery tour and tasting at Oban distillery. Time to visit Oban town, have a meal and relax before we travel to Islay on day two. The small and historic Oban distillery is located in the charming coastal town of Oban.

Oban distillery takes its name from the town where the Highland mainland meets the Islands and nestles below the steep cliff that overlooks Oban. This coastal location is said to be reflected by the character of the Oban 14-year-old single malt whisky.

Duration: 7 hours. No meals included on this day. Accommodation included: Overnight B&B or Guesthouse stay at a local accommodation in Oban.

We use well-reviewed accommodation such as the Whisky Vaults.

A firm favourite among locals and international whisky fans. The Lagavulin tour is a great way to start your tour on Islay!

After we visit Lagavulin, we move to Ardbeg for a whisky tasting and time for lunch.

At least four whiskies are included along with a tutored tasting from the bar staff. Lunch is excellent at Ardbeg.

The restaurant is frequented by whisky fans and locals because of the quality of food and experience.

One of the most popular stops on our Islay Whisky Tour is the tour and tasting at Laphroaig distillery. Two or three whiskies included. The distillery is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd, a holding company owned by Japanese drinks company Suntory. The hotel stock a good range of beers and lagers. However, the 700 malt whiskies, mostly from Islay are what brings the majority of people to the most famous whisky bar on the island. This hotel is a fond meeting place for many whisky enthusiasts on an Islay Whisky Tour.

Tasting at Bunnahabhain – Very picturesque part of the Island. The Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig. The Bunnahabhain whisky is one of the milder single malt Islay whiskies available and its taste varies greatly from other spirits to be found on the island of Islay. The majority of its spirit is unpeated. Great selection of rare casks and styles to be found here.

Shop visit and a quick tasting at Caol Ila distillery, the new home of Johnnie Walker on the Island and a must visit.

Tour at Ardnahoe distillery – Ardnahoe prides itself on being a modern distillery, set beautifully in a stunning location, which employs rigorously traditional methods and values. The spirit being produced is sweet, smoky and smooth yet peaty and spicy – unique and dynamic to its very core.

  • Explore Scotland’s ancient past in Kilmartin Glen

You escape the city of Edinburgh and head straight for the Highlands. Your first stop of the day is in the Trossachs National Park. Here, you can admire Scotland’s scenic beauty and enjoy some local delicacies.

Your driver-guide may regale you with tales from Scottish folklore as you travel through the mountainous landscapes of the Western Highlands to Oban.

This port town was once the strategic heartland of great feuding clans. But today, Oban is famous for seafood sourced fresh off the boats. It also boasts its own distillery where you can sample whisky that’s been perfected for 200 years. Here, you will have time to enjoy a dram and indulge in delicious local seafood for lunch.

You then venture through the Kilmartin Glen where you see standing stones and strongholds that are over 1,500 years old.

At Kennacraig, you catch the evening ferry to Islay. The sail is around two hours; and if you peek out to the ocean, you may see the Paps of Jura. These mountains mark the way to Islay, Queen of the Hebrides.

Once you’ve arrived on the island, you settle into your accommodation in Bowmore.

  • Sample Scotland’s most heavily-peated whiskies
  • Admire Islay’s rugged coastline
  • Explore the town of Bowmore

We know whisky tasting can be hard work, so you begin the day with a little sleep in.

After you’ve had an ample amount of breakfast, you enjoy a tour of Bowmore Distillery*, one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. You have time for a tour and a whisky tasting here before you continue exploring the island.

Next, your driver-guide takes you to Kilchoman Distillery for a tour and a lunch of local treats. Kilchoman is known as Islay's only Single Farm Single Match Scotch Whisky, reviving traditional farm distilling of barley to bottle, making their whisky 100% Islay.

After trying local larder, you travel through the beautiful countryside to the third distillery of the day. On Thursday and Saturday, you visit Bruichladdich, the progressive distillery specialising in unpeated whisky. On Tuesday, you taste the unpeated and salty notes of Bunnahabhain in the most remote distillery on Islay.

You head back to Bowmore where you can either stumble back to your room for the night or relax and explore the village.

*Please note that Bowmore Distillery is observing their Silent Season between 11th July and 12th August 2024. Guests will be offered a digital tour instead, with a cask tasting experience in the warehouse.

  • Discover the Island’s ancient religious past
  • Taste the most famous whiskies of the island

Today you explore the southern side of the island, home to a few of the most famous whiskies in all of Scotland: Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg*.

After you’ve made it out of bed and eaten your breakfast, you visit Ardbeg*. You stay here for a tour, tasting, and lunch*. The restaurant here is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy fine Scottish produce as you sip upon delightful drams.

You then visit Laphroaig**. This 200-year-old whisky distiller is a favourite with the British royal family and bears the seal of the Prince of Wales to prove it.

Throughout the day, your driver-guide takes you to historical spots such as the ruins of Kildalton church and Dunyvaig Castle. And you can also stop at Lagavulin for some intensively flavoured, rich and smoky whisky.

You return to Bowmore for your last evening of the trip.

*Please note that if your tour departs before 1st May, your lunch today will be at Ardbeg Distillery. However, if your tour departs after 1st May 2024, lunch will be either at an outdoor food truck at Ardbeg (weather dependent) or in Port Ellen.

*Please note that Ardbeg Distillery is observing their Silent Season between 10th June and 8th July 2024. Guests will be offered a more in-depth tasting with a guide from the distillery, who will discuss the history of the distillery and the process.

**Please note that Laphroaig Distillery will be observing their Silent Season from 13th July to 5th August 2024. Guests will be offered a walk around the Laphroaig Museum, and a sensory tasting in the bar with several drams.

  • Get a sense of the old history of Inveraray
  • Wander along the banks of Loch Lomond

This morning, you take the ferry back to the mainland and replace the intoxicating fumes of whisky with the replenishing fresh air of Scotland’s West Highlands.

You travel through coastal scenery to the beautiful village of Inveraray on the banks of Loch Fyne. The town is adorned with historic buildings, old boats, and a great whisky shop.

Your trip continues to Loch Lomond where you have a chance to admire Great Britain’s largest body of water by surface area.

You arrive in Edinburgh in the early evening.

*Itinerary and distillery visits are subject to change.

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.

What are your cancellation policies?

For one-day tours: You'll receive a full refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before the tour departure

For tours of between two and nine days: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 15 or more days before the tour departure

For tours of 10 or more days: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 21 or more days before the tour departure

For all European packaged tours: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 42 days before the tour departure.

If you cancel inside these notice periods, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.

To cancel your booking, email [email protected] as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.

Can Itineraries change?

Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.

How to get Morgan Wallen tickets: 2024 concert tour dates and prices compared

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Country star Morgan Wallen is continuing his tour throughout 2024, and tickets to his upcoming concert dates are getting snatched up quickly. While the One Night at a Time tour is already well underway, there are still a few avenues to check when it comes to how to get Morgan Wallen tickets for his 2024 concerts.

Morgan Wallen began the 2024 branch of his One Night at a Time World Tour, which includes 29 shows across North America, back in April. This leg of the tour was already extended from his hit 2023 concert series of the same name, which saw the country star perform 57 shows across five countries. Now, Wallen is extending his 2024 One Night at a Time tour with six new dates added for the European leg, bringing the total to 25 shows for this year's concert tour extension.

Given Morgan Wallen's recently released new track with Post Malone, "I Had Some Help," the setlist for his remaining 2024 concert dates could be a bit different from his 2023 shows. Of course, the various setlists for his One Night at a Time 2024 tour will likely still include hits such as "Whiskey Glasses," "One Thing at a Time," and "You Proof."

We've got you covered if you're looking for ways to buy tickets to Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour. Here's our breakdown of the One Night at a Time 2024 tour schedule, purchasing details, and price comparisons for original and resale tickets. You can also browse ticket and concert specifics at your leisure on Vivid Seats and StubHub .

Morgan Wallen 2024 tour schedule

Morgan Wallen has 28 concert dates still remaining on his 2024 world tour. While 21 of these shows will take him across more cities in North America, seven of them will occur in Europe. As of right now, Wallen will take his final bow of the One Night at a Time 2024 World Tour in Dublin, Ireland, on September 24. The table below shows the cheapest available tickets on Vivid Seats and StubHub at the time of writing. All concert times are listed in local time zones.

How to buy tickets for Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour

You can purchase original tickets to Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour on Ticketmaster. However, original tickets to his remaining shows in North America are now limited.

Tickets to Morgan Wallen's One Night at a Time 2024 tour are also available from verified resale vendors such as Vivid Seats and StubHub . With a dwindling number of standard original tickets, you may find better luck with seating variety and price options on these resale sites.

Tickets to Morgan Wallen's six new European tour dates in 2024 go on sale on May 16 at 11:00 a.m. GMT on Ticketmaster. However, the presale for his Glasgow and Dublin shows started on May 14 at 11:00 a.m. GMT, with the general sale scheduled to begin on May 16. Ticketmaster is limiting the number of tickets one can purchase at a time to six tickets per person.

How much are Morgan Wallen tickets?

Compared to similar acts currently touring, Morgan Wallen tickets are relatively expensive. Of course, ticket prices for Morgan Wallen's 2024 tour vary depending on date, location, and demand for each show. The cheapest available standard original tickets for Morgan Wallen start at $116 for his July 19 show in Charlotte, NC. However, verified resale tickets to see the country star are typically comparable or less expensive than standard original tickets.

On StubHub , the least expensive tickets for Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour range from $75 in Ridgedale, MO, on May 25 to $224 for a general admission ticket to his Gulf Coast Jam festival show in Panama City Beach on June 2. Vivid Seats offers similar prices, with the cheapest available tickets beginning from $74 to $224 for the same concert dates.

There are also four VIP packages being offered for various dates at Morgan Wallen's 2024 One Night at a Time tour. These include the Premium VIP Lounge Package (starting at $1,300), the VIP Lounge Package (starting at $806), the Party Pit Package (starting at $950), and the Hot Seat Package (starting at $556).
