AMISH HERITAGE TOURS of Amish Country Ohio

QUILTING LASTING MEMORIES OF REAL AMISH EXPERIENCES

IN OHIO'S AMISH COUNTRY

A MESSAGE FROM AMISH HERITAGE TOURS

As spring begins to bloom all around us, and summer approaches, we want to encourage you to stop, take a deep breath of fresh air, and let a few rays of sunshine warm your face. “Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat” (Laura Ingalls Wilder). “From the end spring new beginnings” (Pliny The Elder).

This is not our first storm. Our culture’s 495-year-old history has shown that as a community we are resilient. Our way of life is all about hope. We always have been, and always will be, tranquil, peaceful, and beautiful. We’re a clean, caring, friendly, affordable community. It’s our way of life. You can find hope here. We have wholesome values of Amish heritage, culture, customs, and traditions. Ohio Amish Country virtues have not changed. Our local family values and local family-owned businesses have not changed. Our culture, our customs, our traditions, our great food, our cheeses, our bakeries, our backroad artisans, our high-quality lodging, our premier musicals, and your great experiences are still here. You’ll find a serene, relaxing vibe the moment you arrive.

Holmes County truism’s such as hard working, never quitting, entrepreneurial spirit, being flexible, creative, and adaptable are what we are made of. We want to share these truisms with you. We did not elect the current path, but together we made the path our own, and we will leave the path in better condition than when we traveled upon it. We adapt where needed and will continue to be a safe and comfortable choice. One thing not changed is our commitment to give authentic Amish experiences.

In closing, we spread and share positivity. You will feel connected here. The peak of our positivity comes from the present, not the past or the future. When you feel safe and are ready, come and spend your present here. Take a step back to our core values. Let us guide your safe and enjoyable experiences of Ohio’s Amish Country in Holmes County, Ohio.

Experience the history of the Amish & Mennonites

A different kind of attraction... A 10 foot by 265 foot circular mural, called Behalt.

Since the beginning of the Reformation in the early 1500s, the people who later came to be known as Amish and Mennonites have been a puzzle to the rest of the world.

Who were these people who upset the European religious community, both Catholic and Protestant, by teaching about adult baptism? Why, in the face of trials and persecution, did they choose non-violence as a response?

A unique educational experience awaits you at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center. Witness the history of the Amish, Mennonites and Hutterites on Behalt - one of four cycloramas in North America.

Behalt is a 10 foot by 265 foot circular mural. The painted oil-on-canvas cyclorama uses unique artistic techniques of line and color to illustrate multiple stories within a vast time-line. The name Behalt, means "to keep, hold, remember."

Experience the martyrs' final moments. It is astonishing to find that the history of the Amish and Mennonites - known as "the gentle people" and "the quiet in the land" - is laced with persecution and martyrdom. Struggling to live out their beliefs in a peaceful manner, they were forced to migrate across Europe, some into Russia, and across the Atlantic to North America. Through the mural you will come to a deeper understanding of the precepts that formed their beliefs and led to a quest for a simple, peaceful lifestyle.

    Cricket Hill Cabins

Located in the heart of Amish country, Cricket Hill Cabins has three standalone cabins nestled in the woods. While each of these cabins is secluded enough to spark romance, we recommend the Grapevine Cabin . The Grapevine Cabin is set back in the woods and overlooks a wooded ravine, perfect for taking in the sunrise. Visitors park and take a short walk across a bridge and up a small hill, following the gravel path to the cabin.

The cozy bed is tucked away in an upstairs loft, and there is a plush couch that sits in front of a fireplace. Guests can enjoy a fire ring and outdoor hot tub, an indoor bathtub big enough for 2, a fully functional kitchen, and rocking chairs on the front porch that add to the rustic charm.

A cabin tucked away from the world sets the scene for romance.

    Donna’s Premier Cabin Lodging

Donna’s is known for its intimate wedding package, so it’s no surprise that these cabins inspire romance. The most romantic? The aptly named Romancing the Stone Cabin has a luxurious Jacuzzi room. The heart-shaped tub is located in an alcove where couples can enjoy nearby waterfalls cascading over large rocks and ferns. Then, cuddle in front of a huge stone-heart fireplace.  Plus, there are tons of romantic add-ons to make guests’ getaway special, including chocolate-covered strawberries, his and her bath robes, couples massages, and more.

Listen to the soothing sounds of a waterfall while relaxing in the Jacuzzi.

Dansville is less than 90 minutes from Columbus, with attractions like the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens , Colombus Zoo and Aquarium , escape rooms, and upcoming events like Disney on Ice, professional hockey, or concerts at Nationwide Arena .

    Sunset Ridge Log Cabins

Sunset Ridge is often called “the one with a view” because of its location high on the hillside and, of course, the view. Looking around the photo gallery, it’s clear that no matter the season, the view will be a part of the memory. There are three cabins at Sunset Ridge, each of them designed to sleep two and inspire romance. Each cabin has a propane fireplace, outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit, and a Jacuzzi on a covered back porch. What better way to enjoy the spectacular view than to take it in from the Jacuzzi, glass of wine in hand?

When lovebirds aren’t wrapped up in each other, they can enjoy local wine in the outdoor hot tub.

Sunset Ridge Cabins are also a great choice for couples who enjoy outdoor adventures, scenic drives, and beautiful surroundings. It’s a short drive to Honey Run Highlands Park and the Bridge of Dreams . Visitors can also spend a full day exploring Wolf Run Regional Park to the west or head north to Mohican State Park .

    Tranquil Acres Cabins

Tranquil Acres has several private log cabins in the perfect place to kick off a romantic weekend. For couples that want to enjoy a hot tub, we recommend the Cozy Bear and Cozy Pine cabins. Plus, these cabins have a bedroom on the first floor for more room and a gas fireplace.

We also love the Sleepy Bear Cabin for older couples, especially those without a lot of mobility. There is a single step going into the cabin with a single-floor layout, a fireplace, and a 2-person Whirlpool tub, a standard feature in most Tranquil Acres Cabins.

Experiences views like these all over Amish Country!
