Great private tour for 2, total of 19 days from North to South. Hanoi, Halong cruise, Hoi An, Phu Quoc and Saigon. Flawless communication throughout. I arranged some accommodation, they did some, as well as arranging all the transfers, internal flights and tours. Accommodated my request for late starts each day of touring, which was a huge deal for us. Safe, comfortable cars and knowledgeable guides, all of whom spoke excellent English. Vietnam is charming and far exceeded our expectations, in large part because of the terrific tour put together by Hoi An Express. Highly recommended.

Vietnam Highlights - 11 Days

Danny is excellent at responding to our questions. Overall the experience was good. We were disappointed that the guide did not take us to visit Ho Chi Minh's house, we didn't know why. We planned the trip to arrive at Hoi An for the lantern festival but there was a change in the travel, not sure why the flight was canceled and we did not arrive for the full-moon lantern festival. That was disappointing since we will not likely be in that place again. Our guide, Troy in Hue was very friendly and accommodating and we had time to dip in the ocean. It was wonderful.

We travelled CroisiEurope from Hanoi (Halong Bay) to Ho Chi Min then crusing the Mekong River to Siam Reap. We have done several river and ocean cruises and this was up there with the best! Great food, great boat and facilities, great tours with flexibility. We were impressed that at each stop we had local tour guides, one each for english, spanish and french speaking guests. All the staff, guides and directors were great and happy to help with any issues. How good is a Halong Bay sunset?! Would definitely recommend CroisiEurope and TourRadar - the online support tool for TourRadar means that you get a response to the smallest of queries within 24 hours. We'll be back.

From a value perspective, overall it was about average. Also, sine I booked a premium cabin on the Scenic Spirit, I was expecting all ground transport to be of equal quality. One of the buses options used a few times was quite old and run-down.

Incredible Thailand and Laos by Train

Most days were wonderful. Many great experiences and comfortable accommodations, but some differences between itinerary information and expectations. Particularly for a group of 50 - 80 year olds, some things were not made clear. The biggest complaint was the 2nd class sleeper car. It only says sleeper train, which given other accommodations, one would expect 1st class sleeping compartments. I even enquired before booking and was told a private compartment with my single supplement. One does have to read the category of this trip as well. It is an Explorer trip, so some things were slightly more strenuous. Given that, the guide, Chai was wonderful about making adjustments for some travelers. There is no mention of biking at Sukothai in the itinerary, so he arranged a tuk tuk for some of us. Some hotels were changed and in less convenient locations. The creatively written itinerary really draws you in to book and get excited but some crucial information, particularly for older travelers, is missing.

The communication and respect provided by Legend Tours was exceptional. I ask a lot of questions. I received timely responses every time. I made changes 3 times to my itinerary and each time was seamless, and without judgement. Eventually, I had to switch companies due to adding another country Legend doesn’t cover. Again, I was treated with the utmost respect. I plan to to use Legend Tour in the future because of the stellar customer service!

10. Douro Cruise

The Douro River may not be as well known or as popular as some other European cruise destinations, but it’s not because it’s an unworthy destination. This wonderful little cruise, which takes travelers through Portugal and Spain, winds past picturesque vineyards and Medieval villages.

This cruise is especially perfect for anyone who loves to venture off the beaten track. A Douro River cruise trip itinerary normally starts at the river’s outlet in Porto and could include visits to local vineyards, castles and cathedrals.

The Mighty Mississippi, the fourth longest river in the world, cuts through the heart of America and through some of this country’s most beautiful scenery. For many, a Danube River cruise is a dream come true. The Danube, which is the second longest river in Europe, passes through nine different countries, Austria, Bulgaria Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Romania Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine.

Depending on the itinerary, which can last from one day to a week or longer, a trip along the majestic Danube River can take a traveler past castles and imposing fortresses and through some of Europe’s most beautiful cities. The Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world as well as the longest in Asia. It travels past some of China’s most interesting and famous sites, including the stunning Three Gorges (Qutang, Wu and Xiling Gorge).

On a Yangtze River cruise, travelers will sail through some of this immense country’s most gorgeous landscapes and may also have the option of taking shore excursions to various interesting sites, including to ancient temples and old ghost towns. The Yangtze River is also home for a number of this country’s endangered species, including the Chinese alligator and river dolphin. Yangtze river cruise trip lengths typically run between four and thirteen days.

The wild and untamed Amazon River has long captivated explorers who have longed to discover the secrets hidden in the dense jungles that line its banks. In the past, only the most adventurous souls would have dared to enter the Amazon Basin, but, fortunately, this secretive world is much easier for travelers to visit today.

A number of cruise boats rove the Amazon. Accommodations on these boats range from modest to luxurious. Some boats feature cabins that even boast large picture windows so that travelers can view their surroundings from the comforts of their air-conditioned room.

Though the Amazon river spans eight South American countries, most larger vessels’ itineraries are limited to sections between the Brazilian ports of Manaus and Belém. Smaller cruise ships, however can also venture further upriver to Iquitos in Peru, incorporating stops in more undeveloped regions of the Peruvian Amazon.

Because Egypt basically grew up on the banks of the Nile, a cruise is one of the best ways to experience Egypt and all of its glorious ancient sites, including the pyramids and the Sphinx.
