Port Kusadasi cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Kusadasi, Ephesus, Turkey. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

Kusadasi is a cruise port and resort town on Turkey's central Aegean Sea coast, and located south of Izmir . Kusadasi is also a major ferry port and serves as seaport for Ephesus (ancient Greek city in Turkey's in Ä°zmir Province).

From the cruise ship pier in Kusadasi's harbour the town looks very attractive and passengers can walk to the promenade cafes and shops and then climb to Kale district where, inside the old city walls, there's a mosque, a bazaar and some fine traditional houses. Across the causeway linking it to mainland is Pigeon Island (Guvercin Adasi) where there is a little Genoese fortress. There are pretty beaches in the region - the small Town Beach is 500 m beyond the causeway to Guvercin Adasi but the better Paradise and Ladies Beaches are to the south and you'll need a taxi to get there; also have in mind they're often crowded.

The first to settle in Kusadasi were the Aeolians from northern Greece. A harbor was established here by the Genoese and Venetians when the Ephesus harbor became silted up. Even now for cruisers it's mainly a city that is the gateway to Ephesus, one of world's largest and most important ancient archaeological and religious sites. From Kusadasi, you can also visit Didyma, Priene and Miletus.

In 2019, the cruise port handled around 200,000 tourists (passengers and crew). Port Kusadasi is managed by Global Ports Holding Plc (GPH) - currently ranked world's largest cruise port terminal operator with lease agreements in the regions of Europe-Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asia-Pacific.

Kusadasi cruise terminal

As cruise port, Kusadasi has 8 dedicated berths (ship docking structures) and handles around 600 cruise ship calls annually. The UNESCO site Ephesus is visited as a shore shore excursion option (ranging between 4-10 hours). Bus travel time from the cruise terminal is just 20 min. As a tourism destination,  Ephesus is visited by 1,5+ million travelers annually.

Cruise Port Guide Kuşadası – Turkey: docked

The Kuşadası cruise terminal, also known as Scala Nuova, is right in front of the centre of town. It is a huge facility where you will find all kind of services. At the port you will find tourist information, duty-free souvenir shops, wi-fi, cafe’s, tour operators and taxis. Once you exit the cruise terminal and port you are right in front of the city centre, which is best to be explored by foot.

Shuttle service

The cruise terminal is a small walk to the city centre. Alternatively you can find rickshaws on the cruise dock that can take you to the city centre for +/- 2 euro.

Taxis of Kuşadası

There are taxis available at the exit of the port. There are usually regular size and vans available. You will recognise the official taxis by their yellow colour and taxi sign. Find the approximate taxi prices underneath: Didyma: 70 euro Aphrodisias: 140 euro Ephesus: 45 euro one way. Anybody going to Ephesus gets dropped off at the entrance. You walk through the historical sight and you get picked up at the other end. Try to arrange this with your taxi as well.

Public Transport to Ephesus

There is a public bus service from Kuşadası to Ephesus. Take into mind that the public transport system here is somewhat different than it might be back home: be flexible. The Turks call this public bus the Dolmus. They are 15-seat minivans. They depart from the bus terminal Sueyman Demirel Boulevard. See map above for its exact location. It is roughly a 20 minute walk from the cruise terminal, through the city centre to the bus station. There are several services per hour throughout the day, but their might be less during 12noon and 3 pm. Check this while you are there. The ride takes about 15 minutes. Most services stop at the end of the entry road to Ephesus. From here it is roughly about 10 minutes walk to Ephesus.

Excursions to Ephesus

Ephesus can be reached by public transport or taxi and visited independently, but keep in mind that it might be worth your while to take an excursion to this sight. If you arrive and you are looking at rocks it is hard to imagine what is actually was. Therefore going by excursion might be worth while because your guide is able to make this ruin come to life with the stories and knowledge that he has. Usually the ships price isn’t that bad. You can also book the excursion the cruise terminal (see photo to the left) starting at 40 euro per person.

There are no beaches in the city centre of Kusadasi. Taxis and the Dolmus (public transport busses) are able to bring you to the beaches just out of town. Ladies beach is 2 miles north of Kusadasi. Reach this beach by Dolmus or taxi. This beach has sun beds, umbrellas etc. Pamucak is 7 miles north of Kusadasi. Reach this beach by Dolmus or taxi. Find all kinds of high end resorts here.

We recommend visiting Ephesus with a shore excursion or guide to ensure you know what you are looking at when you are there. Virgin Mary’s House

Whatever happened to Virgin Mary after the death of Jesus Christ? The rest of her life remains a mystery, but is believed that John took Maria to Ephesus in the year 37 where se spent the last years of her life. The house is open for visitors and it has become an important pilgrim destination. If you are planning to visit the house, make sure to bring pen, paper and an empty bottle. Attach your paper to the wall and fill your empty bottle of water from the Fountain of the Virgin. Virgin Mary’s House lies 27 km north east of Kusadasi in the same direction as Ephesus.

When you are al the cruise terminal you can spot a hill with a big statue on it. This is the statue of Ataturk, one of the most iconic figures of Turkish history, also known as father of the nation. Most visitors will have tried sis kebab (grilled meat on a skewer) and doner kebab (meat shaved from a vertical skewer) before arriving in Turkey. Lamb is popular for both. Be sure to try kofte , spiced lamb or beef meatballs served with yogurt dipping sauce. Have a few meze (appetizers) to get your vegetable fix — great options include grilled eggplant salad and cicek dolmasi , fried squash flowers stuffed with raisins and rice.

Sightseeing:

Just 30 years ago Kusadasi was a sleepy, traditional Turkish seaside village, dependent for its living on fish, farming and honey production. Since then, though, the double-edged sword of mass tourism has brought wealth (its main street sidewalks are now finished in marble!, which can slippery when wet) and, with that, mass commercialization.

Thronged with traffic and lined with ever more expensive carpet and jewelry shops, you can still find pockets of old-style Turkey amidst the narrow, winding streets of its old town, which house vibrant markets and traditional Turkish baths, and offer a chance to bargain for Oriental carpets.

Just head along the shop-lined and pedestrian main street (Barbaros Hayrettin Caddesi), and when you reach the top it's easy to get directions to the main market and the ancient Kaleici neighborhood, a network of narrow streets crammed with bars, restaurants and atmosphere.

"Kaleici" means inside the castle grounds in Turkish. Kaleici is the oldest part of the town. It is a historical area, with old houses in which many restaurants, shops and some night clubs are situated. You can find also some turkish baths (hammam) in this area.

The tiny Güvercin Adasi (Pigeon Island) is connected to the mainland with a causeway. Its romantic setting includes a well-maintained flower garden which surrounds the restored 14th or 15th century fortress housing a restaurant and an open air café. It is about an half hour walk from port.

Tours Excursions Transportation:

Kusadasi is very walkable.

In town, a taxi is cheap, and the fares are regulated. They are easy to find. For long journeys, however, drivers can charge more than the meter reads. So negotiate the fare in advance. The most unusual transportation in Turkey is called Dolmus for routes that buses don't take. The word actually means "To Fill"; thus, the dolumus leaves when it is full! They are usually a minibus, a jeep, or a van so they fill quickly. A bonus is that they will drop you off along the route.

It pays to compare your cruise line tours here

Nearby Places:

Ephesus is one of the best-preserved ancient classical cities in the eastern Mediterranean. Ephesus was an important seaport as early as 600 BC, but over many centuries silt filled the harbor, and today the city is a few miles inland. Ephesus is best reached with a ship organized tour.

Cruise ships use Kusadasi, about 8 miles away, as a gateway to Ephesus . Ephesus gets very hot in the summer afternoons, so most shore excursions visit the ancient city in the morning, which also makes it very crowded in the summer.

Coaches drop visitors off on one side of the city, and they walk down a gradual hill to the pick up point on the other side. Guides describe the amazing mosaics and architectural and engineering marvels of the extensive site.

Plan to spend at least a half day at Ephesus, and be sure to wear good walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and take water.

Other interesting sites near Ephesus include the frescoes at the Church of St. John the Apostle, the celebrated House of the Virgin Mary, and the excellent Ephesus Museum.

Often included in tours to Ephesus and definitely not worth missing is a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary, located atop Nightingale Mountain (Bulbul). It's a humble, one-story brick house that by myth is supposed to be the place where she spent her last years. Discovered in 1880 by a German nun with a vision, the house has been visited by countless folks on pilgrimages -- including two popes.

By public transportation Ephesus is difficult to reach, a ship or otherwise organized tour is recommended.

If you elect to take a taxi make the same arrangements as the busses do, by picking you up at the other side. A short taxi tour will cost about 50 Euro. Entrance fee is 7 Euro per person. Certainly recommended in hot weather.

A cheaper option is dolmuses, or public minibuses, which are comfortable enough and depart very frequently from Kusadasi to the ruins at Ephesus for about 1 Euro per person one-way. Near the cruise terminal, take dolmus #5 tell the dolmus driver you are going to to Selcuk, and he will tell you when you get off From there take the dolmus to Ephesus. At the Ephesus stop, take a taxi (22 lira) to the upper gate or walk to the lower gate.

If you are travelling with kids Adaland Aquapark It features numerous water slides, children's pool, Jacuzzi pool, wave pool, activity pool, ocean pool, lazy river, rafting river (extra charge), jumping towers, trampolines, etc. Adaland is located around 8 km (5 mi) north of Kusadasi port, approximately a 15-minute drive. A taxi costs between 20-25 USD (4 people).

Shopping and Food

Grand and Orient Bazaars are the most important shopping centers at Kusadasi. They are most visited shopping centers because of being close to the Kusadasi harbor.

Traditional handicrafts such as carpets, copper goods, painted ceramics and jewelry are popular buys, along with a good selection of leather goods, sandals and beachwear which can be found in most of the larger resorts.

You can find many fake brands such as Lacoste, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein in most stores.

In souvenir shops and stalls, it's always worth trying a spot of haggling. For food shopping, local mini markets provide basic essentials, whilst the supermarkets found near the larger resorts are similar to those we are used to at home.

Along the Kusadasi's waterfront you will find plenty of (fish) restaurants.

Turkey's currency is the Turkish Lira. Many shops and restaurants in the coastal resorts and big cities accept payment in foreign currency. But if you are planning to travel to other parts of the country, it is advisable to take some Turkish Lira.

With a credit or debit card you can withdraw local currency from cash machines which are found in convenient locations in cities, towns and resorts.

Communication:

Many restaurants and cafes in town offer free WiFi.

Emergency Ambulance: 112 (all over Turkey) Police: 155 (all over Turkey)

Opening Hours and Holidays:

In tourist and coastal areas, opening hours are quite flexible and during the summer many shops stay open until late in the evening, seven days a week, leaving tourists to browse at their leisure and escape the heat of the day.

Kusadasi Port Guide

Kusadasi cruise port is conveniently located in the center of the town, only a 5-minute walk from the shopping area. It consists of two parallel piers that can accommodate 4 cruise ships simultaneously. Upon getting off the ship, you will need to walk to the end of the pier to exit the terminal.

Normally you will find some locals offering wheelchair assistance for guests with walking difficulties. The tourist information desk is located right outside the terminal building, next to the parking lot.

Getting Around Port Kusadasi

  • If you decide to stay in Kusadasi town, you can easily explore it on foot as the waterfront promenade, main attractions and beaches are located within a short walking distance. On the other hand, if you decide to explore outside of the city, I suggest booking an organized shore excursion or hiring an official taxi with an English-speaking driver.
  • The official currency in Turkey is the Turkish Lira (TL) but Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas. It’s advisable to bring small bills.
  • Public transport may be an option if you are adventurous and want to feel local. This transportation is called “ dolmuş ” and they look like minibusses. These are shared taxis that run set routes and will take you between the towns. You can typically get on and off anywhere you want, you just need to “wave” to the bus and inform the driver. The single ticket price is very cheap and varies based on the final destination. Dolmuses depart from the main road of Kusadasi as you exit the cruise terminal area and they run every 15-20 minutes.
  • Taxis are also available in Kusadasi. They are reasonably priced and easy to get, however, if you want to take a long journey I suggest negotiating the price in advance to avoid inconveniences. You should inquire about the official taxi prices at the tourist information desk at the cruise terminal.
  • Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is the closest airport and it is located in Izmir, around 67 km/42 miles (a 1-hour drive) north of Kusadasi cruise port.

1. Ephesus Archeological Site

Ephesus is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive ancient city was once the most important trading center in the Mediterranean region. Ephesus boasts several constructions that attract a lot of attention, both for their historical and archeological importance and for the state of conservation they present.

The most attractive structure is the Library of Celsus built by Galius Julius Aquila in honor of his father. The Celsus Library was the third richest library in ancient times after the Alexandra and Pergamum, holding over 12.000 scrolls. The Great Theatre of Ephesus could accommodate 20.000 people and was used for plays, concerts, fights and political or religious meetings.

Celsus Library Ephesus, Turkey

The best way to explore the ancient city of Ephesus is definitely with a knowledgeable guide who will provide you with all historical facts, local stories and anecdotes. Make sure you get there early because it can get crowded. During the peak summer months it can get really hot, so bring water with you and wear comfortable footwear and clothing.

While exploring Ephesus you also have the option to visit the Terrace Houses , which were owned by the richest Ephesians (extra fee applies). Even though the site is still in excavation, you will be able to admire the beautiful wall decoration and designs. Terrace Houses are located on a hill, so please take into consideration that you will need to climb several sets of staircases up and down. You can also visit the Ephesus Museum where you will see lots of statues, columns, decorations, and many more interesting items that were found in the ancient city.

Ephesus is partially wheelchair accessible. Guests with wheelchairs should have a companion.

The entrance fee to Ephesus costs 700 TL per person (approx. 21.50€); Terrace Houses cost 320 TL (approx. 10€); Ephesus Museum costs 220 TL (approx. 6.5€). (prices updated in January 2024)

Terrace Houses, Ephesus, Turkey

The Ruins of Ephesus are located near the town of Selçuk, approximately 20 km/12.5 miles from Kusadasi. It takes around a 30-minute drive from the port of Kusadasi. If you are adventurous, you can try to get the public bus or dolmus from the closest stop at the cruise port. You will need the one with Selçuk as a final destination. Upon getting off in Ephesus, you’ll still need to walk for about 15 minutes to the entrance of the archaeological site (or take a taxi).

2. Kusadasi Town

If you decide to skip a shore excursion to Ephesus and stay in the town of Kusadasi, these are the things you should see and do:

  • Kusadasi Castle – This beautiful castle was built between the 14th and 19th centuries and is the iconic landmark of Kusadasi. It is also known as the “Pirate Castle” as it defended the Kusadasi harbour from pirates back in the past.
  • The castle sits on Pigeon Island (Güvercinada) which is connected to mainland Kusadasi via a man-made narrow causeway. You can visit the castle’s museum, enjoy gorgeous panoramic views, or delight in the specialties from one of the island’s restaurants. Admission is free, and it’s located 10 minutes walk from the cruise terminal.
  • Ladies Beach – This beach is located less than a 10-minute drive from Kusadasi cruise port. It is a beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear waters, however, it can get very crowded during the peak season. It is filled with restaurants, bars and you can find all sorts of amenities including sunbeds and umbrellas.
  • Kusadasi Old Town (Kusadasi Kaleiçi) – Only a 5-minute walk from the exit of the cruise terminal, you’ll come across the Old Town, filled with old traditional Turkish houses that are home to quaint cafes, souvenir shops and little taverns. In the heart of the Old Town stands Kaleiçi Camii – A beautiful Ottoman-style mosque with painted windows and walls.
  • Kuşadası Bazaar – Only 5 minutes walk from the port, you’ll come across this traditional colorful market where you can find leather jackets, belts, jewelry, local handicrafts, ceramics, and a lot more.
  • You can shop, walk around the lively Kusadasi streets, indulge in Turkish delicacies and enjoy a beautiful view of the harbour.

3. House of Virgin Mary

Drive through “Bulbul” mountain to the Catholic and Muslim shrine, where it is said the Virgin Mary spent her last days after the crucifixion of Jesus. Even though the Catholic Church has never confirmed its authenticity, the House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi in Turkish) is considered a major holy place that has been visited by several popes throughout history.

Hundreds of tourists visit this place every day and pilgrims believe the natural spring next to the house has healing properties. It is a common sight to see visitors drinking the water or taking some as a souvenir in a little clay container that can be purchased at the site. You will also see visitors tying their intentions at the wishing wall.

House of Virgin Mary, Turkey

The House of the Virgin Mary is located in Selçuk, around 26 km (16 mi) or a 35-minute drive from Kusadasi cruise port (and only a 10-minute drive from Ephesus). The entrance fee is 400 TL per person (12.50€). This site is almost 100 % wheelchair-friendly.

Check out the House of Virgin Mary tours and activities

4. Temple of Apollo

Take a trip to the Sanctuary of Didyma and visit the Temple of Apollo, home to the second oracle in the Greek world, after Delphi. Thousands of pilgrims arrived here looking for answers and they did not hesitate to pay a good price for them or leave large gifts and offerings.

This sacred enclosure was supported by 122 Ionic columns almost 20 meters high and two meters in diameter at its base. Even though only three columns remain standing today, one feels tiny in front of its imposing measurements.

Temple of Apollo Didyma, Turkey

Driving time to Didyma and Temple of Apollo is approximately 70 minutes one way (the distance is 80 km/50 mi), and the best way to get there is definitely on an organized shore excursion. Some tour options include stops at the ancient towns of Miletus and Ephesus. The entrance fee is 15 TL per person (0.70€). The Temple of Apollo is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties.

5. Sirince Village

Once a Greek Orthodox village, Şirince is one of the most scenic villages on the coast of the Aegean Sea that has become a popular tourist destination in the last few years. Apart from its characteristic architecture that mainly consists of old, traditional Greek white houses, the village is situated in lush nature surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.

Sirince Village, Turkey

The village is known for a centuries-old winemaking tradition of producing unique fruit wines, which you can taste in the many shops scattered around the town where the vendors will encourage you to enter. You can also visit St John the Baptist Church and admire frescoes dating from the Byzantine era. According to locals, the church’s basement was used to ripen wines.

Sirince is located near Selçuk, approximately 20 km (12.5 mi) from Kusadasi. The best way to get there is on an organized shore excursion or by hiring a taxi as public transport does not run often. The village is hilly and the streets are cobblestone, so it is recommended to wear comfortable footwear . This village is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties.

6. Adaland Aquapark

Adaland Aquapark is considered one the biggest aqua parks in Europe and is rated as one of the top 10 water parks in the world! How to go from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus?

  • Transportation

Celsus Library in Ephesus

Kusadasi’s cruise ship port is conveniently located in the heart of the town, allowing passengers to step off the ship and reach the town center in just two minutes. But if you are planning to visit the Ancient City of Ephesus it may take longer. Let’s explore together the available transportation options for traveling from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus.

Where do cruise ships dock for Ephesus?

Kusadasi Cruise Port

Situated on Turkey’s central Aegean Sea coast, south of Izmir, Kusadasi is a resort town and bustling cruise port. As a major ferry port, it also serves as the gateway to Ephesus, the ancient Greek city located in Turkey’s Izmir Province. The cruise port is located in Scala Nuova Shopping Center in Kusadasi.

How far is Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus?

How far is Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus

The distance from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus is approximately 19 kilometers (12 miles), and the driving time is about 25 minutes , depending on traffic conditions. However, if you’re traveling by public transportation, the journey may take around 40-45 minutes longer as you may need to transfer from one mode of transportation to another.

How long does it take to visit Ephesus and return to the port?

The time it takes to visit Ephesus and return to the port depends on several factors, such as the mode of transportation, the time spent at Ephesus, and the distance from the port. Typically, most tours to Ephesus from the port take between 3 to 8 hours, depending on the itinerary and the tour operator. It is essential to plan your visit carefully and consider the time of your cruise ship’s departure.

How do I get from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus?

Ancient city of Ephesus

There are several transportation options available; the most common ways to travel from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus are by taking a minibus (dolmuş), hiring a taxi , or joining a guided tour .

Transportation from the port to Ephesus by Minibus

Inside of Great Theatre in Ephesus

You can go to Ephesus from the port by minibus. It is a shared transportation option and is relatively inexpensive compared to other transportation methods. Since there is no direct minibus from the port to the ancient city, you must use two total minibusses by transfer. Let’s examine step by step how you can reach by minibus.

Exiting from the port and going to the minibus stop

Exiting from the port and taking a city minibus 2

To catch a bus to Ephesus’s main inter-county bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 4 minutes from the Kusadasi Cruise Port premises to the first bus stop. Exit from the Scala Nuova Shopping Centre and walk straight ahead until you see the sign “D” indicating the bus stop. Once you reach the bus stop, wait for the “ Number 5 ” bus to arrive. Prior to leaving the port premises, you can access ATMs and restrooms for your convenience. Additionally, there is an exchange office near the bus stop where you will be waiting, providing the opportunity to obtain Turkish Lira to pay the minibus fee.

Taking the number 5 minibus

Dolmus in Kusadasi scaled 1

Here it comes our Number 5 Minibus, which is supposed to take us to the Main Town Center Bus Stop where inter-county busses are located. We get into Number 5 and say ‘cellchouck’ (sounding – meaning ‘SELCUK’ in Turkish) is the name of the town we should be going to for Ephesus. So our driver on Number 5 knows where he is dropping us off. The ride from Kusadasi Cruise Port to the town’s center must take 10 minutes. And we pay straight to the driver; it should cost 50C. euros. Don’t worry if you do not carry Turkish Lira; you can pay minibus drivers in Euros.

Going to the town center and taking the Ephesus minibus

Selcuk Ephesus Kusadasi Minibus Transport from to Kusadasi

Once Minibus Number 5 drops us off at the roundabout where the inter-county Bus stop is, we need to locate our second minibus with ‘SELCUK’ written on its front. We must cross the street to get to the buses bound for Selcuk. In winter, minibusses to Selcuk run every 20-25 minutes, while in summer, they run almost every 10-15 minutes. However, there might be some confusion as several lines also stop at the same location. To avoid any confusion, we must look for the minibus with ‘SELCUK’ written on it. Once we find the right minibus, we can board it for our journey from Kusadasi Town Center to Selcuk, which should take approximately 20 minutes. The minibus will make stops at some of the hotels on the coast just outside Kusadasi. We should prepare around 1.5 Euros to hand over to the driver and say ‘EPHESUS’ or ‘EFES’ to indicate our destination.

Reaching Ephesus minibus stop

Minibus Stop to Ephesus

When the driver arrives at the Efes stop, he will shout, “Ephesus”. We have to get off the minibus at this stop. When we get off the minibus, we will see a taxi stand. Ephesus has a total of two gates , the lower and upper gates. The lower gate is about 12 minutes away on foot, while the upper gate takes 43 minutes. You can walk to the lower gate or take a taxi from your stop. Here we can continue our step, assuming that you will walk to the nearest gate, the lower gate.

Walking to the lower entrance gate of Ephesus

Ephesus Walking Way

From here, you can walk approximately 12 minutes to the lower entrance gate of Ephesus from the side of the road.

Reaching and entering Ephesus

Lower Gate of Ephesus

After reaching the lower gate, you can enter Ephesus by passing through the security control and toll booths. You can pay the Ephesus Archeological Site entrance fee of 40 Euros (2024) with cash or a credit card. Since there is no toilet in Ephesus, you can use the public toilets after entering. Have a nice trip!

Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus by Taxi

Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus by

You can reach Ephesus Ancient City by taxi from the taxi stop located at the exit gate of Scala Nuova Shopping Center, where Kusadasi Port is located.

How much is a taxi from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus?

Kusadasi Yellow

The cost of transportation from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus Ancient City by taxi varies depending on the season, but it is about 60 euros in winter and 120 euros in summer. Before getting into the taxi, you can negotiate and agree on the price by talking to the driver.

Visiting Ephesus with a tour from the port

Ephesus Group Tour Ephesian Tourism

If you’re planning to visit the Ephesus Ancient City from the port, it’s recommended that you opt for a Private Ephesus Tour from Kusadasi Cruise Port instead of going on your own. These tours offer a more comprehensive and hassle-free experience while being cost-effective compared to taxi fares. With an Ephesus Tour , you’ll get to explore not only the Ephesus Ancient City but also the House of Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis (Diana) if you choose an eight-hour excursion that depends on your cruise schedule.

Public Health Operational Inspections

Inspecting cruise ship operations is one of the core ways we help address acute gastroenteritis (AGE) onboard. We inspect cruise ship operations for their compliance with public health standards.

Cruise ship inspector conducting an inspection.

Why we inspect cruise ships

Our Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) inspectors conduct operational sanitation inspections.

  • These inspections determine how well ships are operating and maintaining sanitation standards in accordance with the current VSP Operations Manual .
  • During these inspections, we provide public health guidance to cruise ship staff when items are out of compliance.

About our inspections

Inspections are done while a ship is in a U.S. port. The number of inspectors varies depending on ship size. Inspectors see if conditions on the ship comply with the public health standards found in the current VSP Operations Manual .

Inspections usually take 6-8 hours, depending on the number of inspectors, ship size, amount of time the ship is in port, and issues identified during the inspection. These inspections are periodic and unannounced.

Cruise ships under our jurisdiction are subject to two inspections each year. If a ship sails outside of the United States for an extended period, it may not be inspected twice a year, but it will be inspected again when it returns to the United States.

Clarke Schmidt cruises, Aaron Judge stays hot in Yankees' 5-0 win over Twins

The Yankees finished off a sweep of the Minnesota Twins , winning by a score of 5-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Here are the key takeaways...

-A day after a four-hit night that included three doubles and a home run, Aaron Judge stayed hot. After walking in the first inning, Judge ripped a double his next time up, then flew out to deep center in his third at-bat. In the seventh, Judge slammed another double off the fence in left center, his sixth extra-base hit in his last two games (a career best).

- Anthony Volpe got things started with a bang, quite literally. The shortstop led off the game by blasting a solo home run to left field off of Joe Ryan , extending his hitting steak to nine games in the process.

A Gleyber Torres RBI double off Alex Kirilloff ’s glove and an Anthony Rizzo RBI groundout quickly put three runs on the board before Clarke Schmidt even took the mound.

-Given three runs of support before he stepped foot on the rubber, Schmidt made the most out of the early run support. The right-hander held the Twins scoreless for 8.0 innings, completing the seventh frame for the first time in his career. With 94 pitches, Schmidt came back out to start the eighth, finishing the inning and ending his day with just three hits allowed, eight strikeouts, and no walks.

-It was a good day up and down the lineup. Volpe, Judge and Torres all had multi-hit games, with Austin Wells also adding an RBI single. One exception was the slumping Juan Soto , who is now 3-for-27 in his last seven games.

Who was the game MVP?

Schmidt, who pitched the best game of his major league career.

Upcoming Schedule

The Yankees return home on Friday, beginning a seven-game homestand with a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox .

Nestor Cortes will take on Mike Clevinger on Friday night, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.

Share All sharing options for: Gagarin Cup Preview: Atlant vs. Salavat Yulaev

Gagarin cup (khl) finals:  atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.

Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final.  While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut.  Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so.  But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd.

This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime.  Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30).  Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date.  Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles:  Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30.  In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans:  Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.

For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship.  The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize.  The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it.  Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that.

The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth.  There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat.  Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role.

I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games.  They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL.  They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.

  • Atlant @ Ufa, Friday Apr 8 (3:00 PM CET/10:00 PM EST)
  • Atlant @ Ufa, Sunday Apr 10 (1:00 PM CET/8:00 AM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Tuesday Apr 12 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Thursday Apr 14 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)

Games 5-7 are as yet unscheduled, but every second day is the KHL standard, so expect Game 5 to be on Saturday, like an early start.

Thailand Open 2024 badminton: Chirag-Satwik cruise into quarter-finals; Meiraba Maisnam’s run continues

While Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy downed Chinese opponents in the second round of doubles, Maisnam upset Denmark’s Mads Christophersen in singles.

Indian men's doubles players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Asian Games 2023

Indian Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy stormed into the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Thailand Open 2024 badminton tournament while Meiraba Maisnam continued his giant-killing spree in Bangkok on Thursday.

Chirag and Satwik, the world No. 3 pair, took just 38 minutes to beat the People’s Republic of China’s Xie Hao Nan and Zeng Wei Han 21-16, 21-11 in their Round of 16 clash at the Nimibutr Stadium in the Thai capital.

The Indian badminton players , who won the BWF Super 500 event back in 2019, will face off against Arif Junaidi and Yap Roy King of Malaysia for a spot in the semis.

Meanwhile, Meiraba Maisnam, who caused a stir by defeating compatriot and world no. 9 HS Prannoy on Tuesday, pulled off another upset victory in the second round.

Maisnam, 84th in the badminton rankings , beat Denmark’s Mads Christophersen, ranked 30 places better, by a 21-14, 22-20 scoreline to set up a top-eight clash against Thai shuttler Kunlavut Vitidsarn - the world No. 8 and reigning world champion.

Paris 2024 Olympics -bound women’s doubles pair Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa also advanced after beating Chinese Taipei’s Hung En-Tzu and Lin Yu-Pei 21-19, 21-17. The Indian duo, seeded fourth, had received a bye in the first round.

India’s campaign in women’s singles wrapped up after Ashmita Chaliha’s second round exit. The 51st-ranked Indian shuttler, however, put up a valiant fight against world No.7 Han Yue and stretched the top-seeded Chinese player to three games before succumbing 21-15, 12-21, 21-12 in a 48-minute encounter.

Rutaparna and Swetaparna Panda also bowed out following a 21-16, 21-13 defeat at the hands of Japanese second seeds Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi in the women’s doubles second round.

In mixed doubles, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath lost 21-19, 21-17 to the in-form Indonesian pair of Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, who won the Spain Masters title together earlier this year.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
