Great transfer service in Costa Rica

We used Swiss Travel as our transfer service between the airport and our hotel in Fortuna and then back to our hotel on the beach and then back to the airport. I was nervous about meeting up with them at the airport, but no worries - Dennis was there. He was the BEST! We had a driver and then Dennis as the transfer guide. He went way above and beyond. We had a 3 1/2 + hour drive to our hotel. He asked if we needed to stop for snacks/water and when we said yes, he suggested Wal-Mart! He even went in with us and acted as our interpreter and helped us find everything we needed. IN FACT - when he found out that I get motion sickness and I was going to take Dramamine - he suggested a motion sickness medicine that they have in Costa Rica that does not make you drowsy. He even took me to the pharmacy and helped me buy it which as it turns out was a Godsend! The roads are really curvy and this med worked perfectly. Then he and the driver loaded all of our goods. He was very informative about Costa Rica and even spotted Toucans on our way and stopped and got out his binoculars so we could all see them. The driver was very careful about how he was driving so I did not get carsick. The van was nice and roomy for us and all our luggage and comfortable. Dennis was a pleasure. Then another team picked us up and took us back 5 days later to the beach. Again, they stopped at a nice spot for us to grab a snack and do a little souvenir shopping and did not rush us at all. They picked us up 4 days later to go back to the airport and even let us push our pickup time back a little bit. Every trip was in a very comfortable, cool, room van. Every driver was professional and pleasant. Every guide was knowledgeable, helpful and nice to be around. They were always on time and we felt safe. If you need transportation in Costa Rica - I would definitely recommend this company.

Way longer than 14 hours. Boat ride was okay - got some cool shots of the volcano. Which is the ONLY reason I’m giving this 2 stars. The rainforest walk was so corny. Prob would be awesome for a 5 year old. The hot springs were basically hot tubs and no you don’t get to see the volcano at dinner. Overall - just not worth it. Find a private tour guide and skip this tourist trap snoozefest.

Rose Gomez at the Dreams Las Mareas Hotel recommended the Combo Day Trip. We were not disappointed. 3 of the 4 of us had a blast on the ziplining - not scary, just breathtaking, and the 4th of us walked on the suspension bridge across the canyon. It was a nice opportunity to question our guide about Costa Rican trees and wildlife. The horseback riding was fun, hadn't ridden a horse since childhood. The sauna and mudbaths were a blast. You were required to shower off the mud in cold water, but then you could soak in one of the divine hot spring pools. An unforgettable day.

Two great tours from Westin

We took the ATV tour and the Nicaragua day tour from Swiss Travel while staying at the Westin Playa Conchal. The ATV tour they subcontract to a local vendor. The Honda Atvs were well maintained. The guide made sure we understood how to operate the vehicles and took us on a great tour of the area. The tour was $75 each for 1 1/2 hour tour. The Nicaragua tour began with a 5AM pick up at the Westin. They picked up for several day tours and took us to their headquarters for breakfast and loading for our bus for the trip. Sixteen tourists took the trip. We had one tour guide for the Costa Rica side and picked up a Nicaraguan tour guide at the order. We visited several sites for sightseeing and some shopping. We took a horse drawn carriage ride in Granada and a boat trip on Lake Nicaragua. Lunch at a local restaurant was also provided. They offer several stops for photo opportunities. It's a long day but an enjoyable one. We returned to the Westin about 9 PM. The trip was $170 each. Swiss Travel is a professional tour group which I would not hesitate to use again.

This company offers absolutely no flexibility. Our flight was delayed almost 3 hours and we wanted a later pick up at the hotel. They wouldn't budge so we ended up waiting 5 hours at the airport.

Christian was an excellent guide. He was very funny and very knowledgeable about the customs, economy, wildlife and plants of the Costa Rican areas. The coffee tour was superb with great sights, tastes and info. The river tour was amazing! They got us great views of crocodiles, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys and many many beautiful birds! I definitely would recommend this excursion to anyone! A special thanks to Christian for an awesome adventure!

We booked a private tour with Swiss Travel to experience Pure Adrenaline combo at Cañón de la Vieja. A big thanks to Leni at Swiss Travel who set up our tour for us at our resort (The Westin Playa Conchal) The Pure Adrenaline tour is a full day and includes Ziplining, Repelling, Tarzan Swing, Tubing and Horseback riding. Lunch is included. We loved having our own private transportation, guide and activities as it was nice to experience the day and activities with just our small group. Our group was 6 people aged 11 to 72! We’d like to give a special thanks to WALTER, our tour guide. Walter exemplifies the kindness and generosity that Costa Rica embodies. He was so helpful and gracious to all of us. We loved spending the day with him to learn about Costa Rica and the incredible offerings of this peaceful and beautiful country. Walter, thank you for making our day Pura Vida! All of us hope to see you again when we return! We started our day at 8am where we were picked up at our resort – The Westin Playa Conchal. The drive was a little over 90 minutes in our own private shuttle. When we arrived, the crew was waiting for us. They were very friendly and managed our activities exceptionally. They took care of every detail and made sure all of us were having an amazing experience. We started with Tubing – this is awesome and highly recommended. We felt it was much better than white water rafting. With white water rafting – you have to do a lot of the work. But with tubing, you move with the flow of the water. It’s perfect for people of all ages – our 11 year old loved it as much as my 72 year old mother in law. We found it to be very safe. There are several drops- nothing too steep – just enough to have some great plunges and a lot of fun! Everyone in our group loved it! We can’t wait to do it again. Ziplining was next. There are 9 ziplines. It was extremely safe and the team helping us was extremely thorough. Having Ziplined in various parts of the world, we felt some of the runs were a little short but we still appreciated the natural setting. It didn’t feel commercial at all – it was quite lovely and each zipline offered something different. There was one repel and one tarzan swing both over water with a great view. Both were very safe and easily executed. Lunch was up next – it was a buffet with a true Costa Rican menu that all of us enjoyed. Our last activity was horseback riding. The horses were all very relaxed and tranquil. All of the horses know the trail and follow each other in a single line. We rode our horses to a beautiful water fall where many of us decided to swim. The water was crystal clear. It was beautiful. After spending some time swimming, we rode our horses back and then boarded our private transportation back to our resort. After the 90 minute drive, we arrived close to 6pm exhausted after an absolutely awesome day! Thank you again to Walter who made our tour exceptional and Leni at The Westin who I worked with to book our private tour. We are so grateful to have had such an amazing experience and cannot wait to return. Pura Vida!!

We went on a private (for 4) tour and had a very enjoyable day, saw so much of Costa Rica and learned so much because of our knowledgeable and friendly guide - Walter. He accompanied us through the whole tour and especially in the rain forest helped us identify Toucans, sloths, lizards and many more. The rainforest is so beautiful! We did not go to the top of the volcano and due to cloud cover really only saw 1/3 to 1/2 of it - but it was still a beautiful sight. The hot springs were so relaxing and beautiful We also enjoyed the history and stories of Costa Rica that he shared! Pura Vida Walter - thank you for an amazing day.

we left the resort before 8:00 am and returned almost 11 pm, although it sounds long, was def worth the trip from liberia. the swiss travel team took very good care of us. nice big bus, frequent stops with plenty of scenery. food stops were really nice and better then we had expected on such a trip. Boat ride through the Arenal lake was peaceful and educational, the Skytrack and tram was really exciting, hot spring to "cool down" was relaxing, and the dinner was great!
