Kefalonia is an island located in the Ionian Sea off the western coast of Greece. It is the largest of the Ionian Islands, and is known for its stunningly beautiful beaches, lush forests, and picturesque villages. In the Middle Ages, the island was part of the Byzantine Empire, and in the 15th century, it was part of the Venetian Republic. During the Second World War, Kefalonia was occupied by the Italians and the Germans. The occupation ended in 1943, when the British liberated the island. After the war, the island was ruled by Greece, and it has since become a popular tourist destination. Kefalonia is known for its stunningly beautiful beaches, lush forests, and picturesque villages. Friday:  Poros - swim stop - Fiscardo - Beach BBQ - Poros   

Let’s do the Fiskardo cruise differently! This year we have a new program on the Fiskardo cruise. Firstly we will sail towards Fiskardo with one swim stop on the way at Agia Sofia beach.  On arrival at the cosmopolitan Fiskardo you will have approximately 1 hr to discover the small Saint Tropez of the Ionian islands, as it is called. Enough time for a coffee, snack and walk. The town is one of Kefalonia’s most beautiful places, with small leafy streets, postcard views across the harbour. 

ZAKYNTHOS CRUISES

This island is known for its most amazing beach - Shipwreck Beach (Navajo) and sea turtles Caretta-Caretta. Cruise directly to Navajo where we stop for about 1 hour. Then on way to the port of Agios Nikolaos spot ruins of Saint Andreas monastery and admire the wild part of Zakynthos as well as the enchanting Blue Caves at Skinari (photo stop). Time for lunch and swim for 2 hrs at Agios Nikolaos port.

We booked a day tour to Ithaca. We were picked up from Poros port. We visited Vathi and Kioni. Both places are amazing. We also had a swim stop. The boat is nice and clean.  Staff is very friendly, kind and helpful. Highly recommended!

It’s a slower life here, especially since the town had to rebuild itself from the ground up following a 1953 earthquake that devastated the area. 

When you arrive on the island of Kefalonia, which the locals pronounce as “Cephalonia,” from an Adriatic cruise , you’ll be struck by how charming the town is despite the sadness of its earthquake-ridden past. There’s beauty here in spades, particularly when you stop in at the Kefalonia Botanic Garden or the Korgialenio History and Folklore Museum. Argostoli is the capital of the island of Kefalonia and has a modest population of less than 10,000 residents. Because of the 1953 earthquake that devastated the town, much of Argostoli has been slowly rebuilt. As a result, the town has an entirely different, perhaps even more resilient, spirit than other Greek towns. Kefalonia and Argostoli have a rich history of human contact and life on the island dating back hundreds of years, and most of these records can be found at local museums.

Luckily for cruise passengers, this Grecian paradise is pretty walkable and not as hilly as destinations like Santorini.
