Maui Recovery

As relief efforts are underway due to the tragic and extensive damage caused by wildfires in Maui, we wanted to share that Westcoast Connection has made a donation to SBP, a national disaster recovery and resilience organization that we’ve volunteered with in the past, dedicated to shrinking the time between disaster and recovery. If you too would like to donate, please  visit SBP . For those looking at these programs for summer 2024, please rest assured that we will modify our itineraries as needed in the coming months.

Senior Trips to Hawaii

There's much to do, as you may know, in the archipelago of Hawaii state. Natural wonders , eco-tours, underwater adventures, ancient civilizations, historic sites, and cultural attractions abound on the six major islands. Hawaii also makes for an amazing senior trip destination and if you're looking at America's only island state for your graduation, class, or student trip , here are some ideas on what you can find on each of the Hawaiian islands.

Diversity on The Big Island Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Home to two of the world's most active volcanoes, Hawaii island is constantly growing from the incessant lava flows. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was built around this fascinating feature, highlighting Hawaii's rare and very visible construction. Either drive up through Crater Rim Drive or hike and view active lava flows up close while immersing yourself in the natural landscape of Hawaii.

Historic Temples

Though today the historic temples, or heiaus, are mostly in ruins, Hawaii island has preserved and maintained many of these historic sites for visitors. Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Puukohola Heaiu National Historic Site, and Historic Kailua Village all have sites of religious and historic significance that uphold the legacy of ancient Hawaiians as well as spotlight the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Coffee Plantations

pearl-harbor-81247_1280

Pearl Harbor Pixabay Public Domain

Kona coffee, pure Kona, is rare and only grown on the Big Island. Several plantations open to visitors include Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation, Kona Coffee Living History Farm, and the Hilo Coffee Mill among others. Tour the farms, see their process for making delicious coffee beans and then sample some of their signature products without the cost of the high-end coffee shops.

Paradise on Oahu Pearl Harbor Memorial

Located in central Oahu is the site of the terrible attack on Pearl Harbor and five historic memorials that commemorate those who lost their lives. Visit the USS Arizona Memorial, a floating memorial built atop the sunken hull of the battleship, and tour the Battleship Missouri Memorial upon the decks where General MacArthur accepted the Japanese surrender. Also see the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, the Pacific Aviation Museum, and the USS Oklahoma Memorial.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

One of the top attractions in all of Hawaii, the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve was once a volcanic crater and now a preserve dedicated to returning the landscape to its former glory. Take a tour of the Marine Education Center, spend a day on the beach, or swim out in the intense blue waters to experience some of the best diving in the world.

Dole Pineapple Plantation

Like the coffee plantations, Hawaii's agricultural industry brings in revenue from its pineapple production. Opened to the public in 1989, Oahu's pineapple paradise brings in thousands of visitors every year looking for a glimpse into the Dole institution. Taste the delicious pineapples grown on-site, tour the world's largest maze and explore the plantation garden tour among the other Dole experiences available.

Undeveloped Molokai Kalaupapa National Park

The site of a former leper colony, Kalaupapa National Park is administered by both the Department of Health and the National Parks Service, educating the public on the history of the colony as well as preserving the natural beauty of the land. Visit the collection of buildings, homes, museums, and cemeteries existing as reminders to the isolated community and take an eco-tour excursion into the rolling green hills, sea cliffs, and view the abundance of wildlife living just off the coast.

Gardens of Kauai Waimea Canyon

Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea Canyon is a gorgeous maze of colorful charms, red and green cliffs, and natural beauty. Roughly ten miles long and up to 3,000 feet deep, Waimea was cut over the course of the millennium by the Waimea River, so named for the red-colored waters. The park itself contains several scenic hiking trails as well as observation points, fishing areas, and more.

PS: Also visit the Na Pali Coast via helicopter ride. Much of the island is impassable by foot or car so air or sea travel is the best way to experience the scenery.

Activity on Maui Haleakala National Park

Originally created as part of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Haleakala became a park in its own right in 1961, attracting visitors with its dormant Haleakala Volcano and beautiful landscapes. Travel to the top of the crater's summit and perhaps see the tranquil sunrise or sunset from the height. You can also visit the park's second section, Kipahulu, where there's an abundance of lush tropical forests, waterfalls, and exotic non-native flora and fauna in the fertile volcanic land.

Waipio Valley

Waipio Valley Shutterstock

Nature of Lanai Garden of the Gods

Not to be confused with the Garden of the Gods in Colorado, Lanai's own rocky, barren landscape is an unusual but scenic attraction with historical significance. According to legend, the strange landscape was created in a magical battle between two Hawaiian priests who strove to keep their own fire burning, eating up all of the vegetation in the area which accounts for its barrenness today. See rock spires, eroded formations, and even the islands of Molokai and Oahu on clear days.

Hulopoe Bay

Once named America' s best beach, Hulopoe Bay is a pristine paradise of white sands, crystal clear blue waters, and palm frond shade. Complete with large tidal pools, excellent snorkeling in the summer months, abundant protected marine life, and scenic hiking trails, Hulopoe Bay is the perfect relaxing destination on Lanai.

Speaking of water-based excursions, some of the best snorkeling and diving to be had in Hawaii can be found on Lanai's coast including spots like First Cathedral, Fishrock, Armchair, Monolith, and No Name Paradise. The clear waters, abundant wildlife, and underwater architecture make absolutely stunning underwater experiences.

Hawaiian Sunset on Big Island Anaehoomalu Bay

There isn't enough room to give due credit to all of what you can find in Hawaii. If you enjoy activity, the great outdoors, learning new things, seeing new sights, and meeting fun, new people, then Hawaii is definitely the place for you. Let us at Adventure Student Travel build your perfect senior trip vacation and customize it to your wishes.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: depart from los angeles (lax), days 1-5: honolulu > pearl harbor > waikiki.

Oahu is the perfect island for a little bit of adventure! We will take a surf lesson on the famous shores of Waikiki with professional instructors who will have you riding waves in no time. Our hotel is just steps away from the beach, so we will have plenty of time to relax, swim, and enjoy some quality time in the summer sun! For a truly unique experience, we’ll hike through a lava tunnel to the top of Diamond Head Crater for breathtaking views of the island, as well as visit the breathtaking Manoa Falls.

No visit to Oahu would be complete without a journey to the past in order to pay respects at the USS Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor Memorials. Accessible only by boat, this memorial is one of several sites in Hawaii commemorating the attack on Pearl Harbor and honoring those who lost their lives as well as the few remaining survivors.

An optional activity of scuba diving gives you the chance to explore the bustling, vibrant underwater world!

DAYS 5-8: KAUAI

Kauai is often considered the most beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands. Known as the Garden Island for its lush vegetation, this island is home to thousands of waterfalls, pristine beaches, an abundance of marine life, and the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” Waimea Canyon. During our time here we will explore everything this island has to offer and discover why it is often compared to Jurassic Park!

We’ll enjoy sailing on a catamaran to swim and snorkel along the Napali Coast, one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. The dramatic cliffs jutting out of the turquoise water, scattered with waterfalls and caves, is something you will never forget! Pods of dolphins are guaranteed to accompany you as you gaze across this stunning coast.

We will also take a trip through Waimea Canyon, where we will stop at the best lookout spots for photo opportunities and to admire the breathtaking views.

Kauai is a perfect island for adventures, so we will paddle kayaks down a peaceful river to enjoy the views before hiking through the jungle to a secret waterfall where we can enjoy a refreshing swim. We will glide through the lush jungle and wide valleys on an endorphin-fueling ziplining tour!

DAYS 8-16: MAUI

Maui is truly a Hawaiian paradise with pristine white sand beaches, colorful coral reefs, lush vegetation, and turquoise ocean. Our hotel is right across the street from some of the best beaches on the island! We can hop over any time we like for beach volleyball, relaxation, and a refreshing swim. We will also enjoy a sunset dinner cruise.

While on Maui, we’ll work with a local ecology organization to learn about sea turtle conservation! We partner with a local organization dedicated to protecting and researching this endangered species. At the Center, we will work first-hand with injured turtle patients–tending to wounds, taking fluids, and whatever else these gentle friends need on their road to recovery. We will also address the global trash crisis that is polluting our oceans. Throughout our years of volunteering in Hawaii, TFT groups alone have cleared over 2,000 pounds of garbage from Maui’s delicate shores!

Our service work will be complemented with plenty of fun activities, including snorkeling, ziplining through the jungle, hiking, and a sunset dinner cruise.

There will also be an optional excursion to catch the sunrise from the top of Haleakala Volcano and take a nature tour down through the clouds. For those who don’t feel comfortable biking, don’t worry, there is the option to ride down in a vehicle too.

DAYS 16-21: KONA

Our last stop on our Hawaiian journey is the Big Island! This island has an abundance of healthy coral, exotic marine life, and plenty of sea turtles! We will participate in a hands-on service project working closely with marine biologists for three days and at the end of our project, we will be certified reef instructors! We’ll snorkel, collect ocean data, survey reefs, and educate others about Hawaii’s marine life.

We’ll have plenty of adventures on the Big Island! Take a day trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to wander through lava tubes and hike the rim of an active volcano. We’ll spend an early morning and afternoon cruising on a boat and spotting dolphin pods and even snorkel at night with giant manta rays. We’ll spend a morning on the beautiful slopes of the active Hualālai volcano on the sacred land of a local Hawaiian family for a truly unique cultural experience.

We will have the option to take a journey to the top of 13,000-foot Mauna Kea to watch the sunset and experience incredible stargazing in some of the clearest night skies on earth! You’ll also go horseback riding in the lush Waipio Valley, visit a monk seal hospital and an octopus farm that researches and cares for these intelligent creatures.

Our time in Hawaii will be topped off with an authentic Hawaiian luau, complete with amazing performances and delicious food! We’ll celebrate the past three weeks and reminisce about our incredible adventures under the Hawaiian sun.

DAYS 21: RETURN FLIGHT TO LOS ANGELES (LAX)

An important message about the maui wildfires.

Travel For Teens has been sending travelers to Hawaii for the past seven years and our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by the Maui wildfires. We have many relationships with people living on Maui, including vendors, friends, and even former travelers and staff members.

To continue showing our love and support we have set up a GoFundMe to donate directly to the organizations our local non profit partners have determined will have the greatest impact on the island’s recovery.

If you would like to share your love and support for Hawaii please donate here .

100% of the proceeds will directly go to organizations on Maui including the Maui Humane Society, Maui Food Bank, and Hawaii Community Foundation.

Thank you and we appreciate all of our TFT families and the support our community has already shown.

Travel For Teens intends to run our Hawaii programs for summer 2024 but will adapt the itineraries and service projects as needed to ensure we are best assisting the local community. Please contact us for additional information.

"Thank you, Kevin! She was really hesitant to try something like this before the trip, so we are so happy she participated and delighted she managed it well. Thank you again for your leadership and for doing such a thoughtful and wholehearted job!" Laura S. New York, NY
"Totally blown away! From day 1 to day 11! Breisen and Kristina are two amazing people. I don’t know how else to express my complete gratitude to & for them. I am just blown away and have been since the beginning. The funny thing is, from the get go, I saw it in the pictures that were posted on Waldo. They were amazing, fabulous, wonderful pictures that really told a story (as far as I am concerned). What I saw was a group of strangers that truly appeared comfortable, respectful of each other and appeared to really get along with each other. Part of that is just the group itself but the main reason, I believe, is that these amazing people made that happen & ARE TRULY EXPERTS AND AMAZING IN DOING WHAT THEY DO! They nailed it! I had basically no fear throughout this trip and when I did have a concern, there was an explanation immediately. All I can say is that I would send my children on a trip, (almost) anywhere in the world, with Breisen and Kristina! Throughout the morning at the LAX airport they happily and enthusiastically got every child either safely on their flight or at the very least, safely to their gate destination. I saw it! That is a HUGE feat! I flew into LAX because I was just nervous about my daughter in LAX by herself but I TOTALLY didn’t need to do that. This is one happy momma!!" Judi C. Plymouth Meeting, PA
"With this being Owen's first time away from home in quite some time, we have been so grateful for the level of care and attention that you and the team put into every single detail of the trip. Even with the flight issues at the beginning you managed everything smoothly and ensured they had the time of their lives. It was so great to be well informed every day with emails and photos so we didn't even feel like we had to text Owen at all during the trip. I know he appreciated this independence! Owen had an unforgettable trip to Hawaii, met new people and had new experiences, and for that we can't thank you enough!" Julie F. Dobbs Ferry, NY

Frequently Asked Questions

See All FAQs

What kind of teen typically participates in this program? What are the requirements to join?

Teens from all over the world join this program! Typically, our participants are culturally curious  individuals who are excited to make new friends, experience something unique, and interested in stepping out of their comfort zones and expanding their horizons.

This program is exclusively for students who are currently in grades 9th through 12th and approximately 14 to 18 years old. Students living outside of the USA are welcome to join!

Where do we stay?

Our hotels are chosen specifically in safe areas and are well suited to facilitating group supervision. We stay in centrally located accommodations, usually within walking distance of the main attractions. We do not use large, impersonal chain hotels on the outskirts of cities; we prefer to select smaller, family-run hotels where we establish personal relationships with the owners.

In Oahu, we stay at a great hotel right in the center of vibrant Waikiki that is walking distance to all of the shops, restaurants, and best of all, just a few blocks from Waikiki Beach! In Maui, we stay at a centralized hotel next to the beach. In Kauai, our hotel is in the charming local town Kapaa, also right on the beach. There is a boardwalk we can bike along as well as plenty of boutique shops and restaurants to explore. On the Big Island, we stay at an amenity-packed hotel in Kona. The location is right next to a small bay, perfect for swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and right in the heart of Kona’s many shops. There are swimming pools at all four of our hotels, perfect for cooling off after a fun day spent under the sun!

For safety reasons, we do not publish the names of the accommodations we use. We do not feel it is safe to publish the name of a hotel where a group of teenagers is staying abroad. After registering, participants and parents are given access to our secure parent website where you will be able to see the names of all of the accommodations for the program.

Do most travelers go on their own?

Yes! In fact, over 75% of students who travel with us choose to come independently. This encourages teens to step further outside their comfort zone and make new friends. We believe that one of the most rewarding and exciting elements of travel is the new friendships that form along the way. When we travel by ourselves, we are bound to make new friends from all over the country and even the world. The best part is, you can travel again with your new friends on another TFT program the next summer!

If you are thinking about joining a TFT program by yourself but you are feeling unsure, please let us know! We have plenty of references from solo travelers who had great experiences and would be happy to chat with you about it.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! We ask that if you do come with a friend, you and your friend(s) maintain openness to meeting new people and sharing this special experience with the entire group.

What do students like most about the Hawaii Ultimate Adventure & Service trip?

Students love the insight they gain from experiencing the “real Hawaii” off the tourist track through the unique service on this program. On Hawaii Ultimate Adventure & Service, participants will experience the varying cultures and spectacular sights each vastly different island has to offer.

In addition to the service component, students love the exciting mix of activities that make each day a new adventure!

What is unique about the Hawaii Ultimate Adventure & Service trip?

Hawaii Ultimate Adventure & Service provides a variety of meaningful service projects and thrilling adventures across four incredible Hawaiian islands.

Having a wide variety of service projects allows students to explore different types of service and gain a deeper connection with Hawaiian culture. Working with animals, children, marine life, and coral reef is the perfect way for students to discover the many ways they can give back to the beautiful state of Hawaii.

The group flight is usually chaperoned by a TFT staff member, and it also offers an opportunity for the students to get to know one another prior to the start of the program. Parents are responsible for coordinating transport to the departure airport – however, the logistics team will send out instructions detailing the exact meeting spot and airport point person. For additional information about flights, visit our dedicated flight page.

Who leads the program?

Our staff is a cut above the rest! We seek out two main characteristics in our counselors – extensive knowledge of and experience in our destinations, and a passion for working with teens. Our staff’s backgrounds include living abroad and working in summer camps or other educational settings. Team members are proven leaders and role models, who connect easily with others and form genuine friendships with each student – all while bringing each destination to life.

We celebrate diversity! Our staff represents 49 different nationalities, speak a combined total of 21 languages, and visited 142 countries. Additionally, 80% of our staff lived or worked abroad in their lives. With so many unique experiences to share, you are sure to gain a global perspective.

Our average minimum ratios are one staff member to every seven participants. Each program has one Trip Director with several support staff, depending on the group size. Directors must be at least 25 years old within the calendar year and have prior experience working with TFT.

What are the safety qualifications for our staff?

Our staff members undergo a rigorous hiring process. They receive the same background check as school educators, an extensive training process to go over all safety precautions and protocols, and are required to be certified in CPR and First Aid.  We exclusively hire responsible, multi-talented individuals who are safety-minded and are as passionate about teen travel as we are.

What is the average group size?

We pride ourselves on small group sizes to create a more authentic and personalized experience. Our group sizes fall between 13 and 24 students – the perfect size to facilitate new friendships without feeling lost in a crowd! We believe smaller groups eliminate the likelihood of cliques, and allows for a well-rounded, healthy group dynamic.

How does this program connect to other programs?

Our program dates are designed specifically so that participants can opt to combine trips throughout the summer.  When connecting to another program, your counselor will escort you to the airport on the last day of the program and assist you in meeting your next group at your new destination.

What is the food like on this program?

In a word – delicious! At TFT, we believe food should be an integral part of the travel experience and always make an effort to eat at authentic establishments when we can. What better way to immerse yourself in the culture of a place than by sampling the local delicacies, and we encourage students to do so whenever possible! Just as we stay away from Americanized hotel chains, we try to avoid restaurants with menus that cater only to tourists because every good traveler knows the best food is found wherever the locals are eating!

The food in Hawaii involves plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and of course, seafood! Some typical foods we will have the chance to try are poke bowls, acai bowls, poi, and breadfruit.

Of course, we are always willing and able to accommodate vegetarians, vegans, gluten allergies, and other dietary restrictions.

Do we ever get time to go off on our own?

Our staff and teens are nearly always together, but we do provide the opportunity to break up into smaller groups to allow for flexibility and customization within the itinerary.

We offer free time in defined safe areas – for example, shopping in a market or exploring a museum. During these times, students remain in groups of at least two and are given no more than an hour. Of course, the counselors remain nearby and available. Additionally, a lifeguard-certified counselor supervises the campers any time they are involved in water activities.

Do I need any vaccinations for this program?

We recommend checking with your family doctor regarding vaccinations and medical advice for the destination you are visiting. For more information, please check the World Health Organization’s website . Upon registration, we provide a list of recommended vaccinations that can be discussed further with your doctor. For Specific questions pertaining to the COVID-19 vaccine, click here .

What kind of visa do you need for this trip?

US citizens do not need passport or visa for this program, but a form of government-issued identification is needed for airport security.

When joining a TFT trip from outside of the US, please be sure to check your country’s specific visa requirements.

Experiential Education in Hawaii

Experiential education is the essence of our teen adventure tours, student travel, and Hawaii summer programs for high-school and middle-school students . Experiential learning emphasizes learning through real-life, hands-on experiences. Rather than learning about the world by simply reading from a text book, the learning process is accelerated and reinforced by being immersed in the actual experience.

Personal experience motivates and enhances learning in ways not possible in conventional teaching. Experiential learning, or learning by doing, accelerates the learning process by using critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in the teaching module. Students retain far more information, and can reproduce what they have learned with greater success, when they are able to experience what they are being taught, rather than simply reading about it. They are, in essence, living the lesson.

Group work promotes healthy personal and social development, contributing to a greater awareness of, and appreciation for, the needs and contributions of others. Cooperation is key as students learn to effectively problem solve.

Skills-focused learning, group problem solving, team building, and residential living foster an optimistic sense of both interdependence and self-reliance, and motivate leadership development. Students develop effective communication and decision making skills, learning to tap into their personal strengths, identify opportunities for growth, and clarify a life purpose.

Experiential Education in the Outdoors

"for the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them."   -aristotle.

Outdoor adventure has numerous educational benefits. Participation in enjoyable activities in the outdoors with peers and supportive leaders contributes to a positive attitude toward education. Being personally involved in their own experience (and the resulting outcomes) motivates curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. Participants are more engaged as active learners as they work together to complete scenarios that simulate real-life situations.

Successful completion of appropriate challenges in the outdoors teaches students to manage risk and overcome personal fears and apprehensions, thus increasing confidence and self-esteem. There is a further intrinsic satisfaction of enjoying these activities away from the familiarity of family and school.

Immersion in the rich outdoor environment of Hawaii’s Big Island makes a significant contribution toward a student being excited about learning. Opportunities abound for the study of earth sciences, environmental education, biological evolution and diversity, history, language, culture and other curriculum areas.

Hawaii Island teen travel adventures

Focused reflection is another key component of experiential learning. Exploring together, students address real world issues, followed by immediate reflection that includes directed discussions and dialogue of the day’s lessons and events. This fosters sensitivity to the environment and a global sense of responsibility as students learn to better manage real life issues. Daily journaling reinforces the learning process.

For most students, this experience will prove to be the catalyst that inspires them to dream, and to take action on fulfilling those dreams. They will begin seeing doors opening to opportunities far beyond anything they might have imagined possible.

Please join us  in exploring the Big Island! It will change your life.

high school hawaii trip

Welcome, Linda!

+ Always count your nights, not your days.

+ Pick up a good travel guidebook or two ... and a good map of Oahu. You all need to familiarize yourselves with your options on Oahu before moving ahead. I am assuming that Oahu is your only real option.

+ There is no such thing as "best" - Nothing is "best" to do, and there is no "best" place to stay. It's all personal preference. SO ...

... again, the guidebooks and maps will help

... go to the OAHU Forum and start reading. We talk about activities and accommodations all the time. Also, to the right-hand side of the screen are the "Top Questions" for Oahu.

... establish a nightly accommodations budget, and then post your questions about hotels on the Oahu Forum.

+ Consider flying them direct from NYC to Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines. They'll love it!

BLBL - looks like they are in California. :)

Thanks, coalminer. We've been answering alot of these lately!

OK ... Hawaiian Airlines out of LAX or SDiego.

The big problem will be their ages, especially the 17 yo without a parent or guardian. A hotel with a mini-bar in the room, won't allow either to check in. The other hotels I looked at have a minimum age of 18.

Oh, give me a break. When I graduated from high school, my parents sent me to summer school !

They will have a ball !!

How Do Summer Programs Impact Your College Chances?

Some summer programs are more competitive, requiring letters of recommendation and standardized test scores, while others are open to all students within a particular grade level. Consequently, some programs are given more weight in college admissions than others.

The 4 tiers of extracurricular activities are a good way to understand how colleges value activities outside of the classroom, such as summer programs. The most impressive, prestigious, rare, and influential activities are placed in the top two tiers. When it comes to summer programs, these are ones that tend to be offered by universities, have an application to apply, and are at no- or little-cost.

Lower-tier extracurricular activities don’t hold the same sway with admissions officers, but they are often still valuable. Less selective and esteemed programs still show off your interests to potential colleges while highlighting your desire to pursue your passions. Many field-specific activities also help build the skills needed to ace everything you’ll encounter in the college application process, from essays to interviews.

Curious how the summer program you’re participating in affects your odds of college admission? CollegeVine can help! Our free chancing calculator uses a variety of factors including grades, test scores, and extracurriculars to estimate your odds of getting into over 1600 colleges and universities while also providing insight into how you can improve your profile.

Greenheart Trips in Hawaii

Greenheart Trips in Hawaii

By: Mieczyslaw, 2016-17 F-1 High School Program Participant

I was waiting for it for such a long time. I’ve heard about the Hawaii trip immediately after I came to the United States. At the beginning, I wasn’t convinced about attending it but my parents told me that it was going to be a wonderful adventure and I’ll enjoy it a lot.  as I later realized, they were right once again. In the past I attended many other camps and I liked them all.  Although I appreciated all of these experiences I was never so in love with them as I was with the Greenheart Trip to Hawaii. It was just a week, but it didn’t matter because it was enough for me to learn so many new things.

At the beginning everyone was a little bit shy and didn’t want to talk much. That changed very quickly. After we were picked up from the airport, we went to our YMCA Camp Erdman on Oahu’s North Shore. It was the first time when I saw the beauty of the Hawaiian landscape. On this trip we’ve done so many amazing things like we went to Papahana Kuaola, It’s a very nice and magic place, As well as, Hanauma Bay Park where we could go snorkeling or if you want you can just lie on the beach and take happiness from the sun. We went to the institute of human services. We’ve learned there about homeless people and how can we help them. That was a very good experience to get a little bit closer to this people and understand what they had to go through. When we had some free time we’ve decided to go hiking! It was amazing. The breathtaking views were amazing.

The thing I personally was waiting the most was the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. It was incredible. After that we went to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. It is the best place to buy some awesome souvenirs and ask some sellers about their small businesses.  One whole day we spent it in the Polynesian Cultural Center. We’ve learned so many new things about Hawaiian culture and how they lived in the past. We were even able to see a wonderful spectacle telling us even more about it.

We’ve done so many thing during this week that I would have to write a whole book to tell you everything about it. We liked everything from surfing lessons on Diamondhead Beach through Catamaran cruise where we even saw a sea turtle! We had a little bit of free time in Waikiki which gave us opportunities to experience the life of people living there and we could go shopping or see the part of the city. Unfortunately everything what’s good has to end one day.  Our closing ceremony was out of this world. We sat down in a circle and  talked about everything that we liked and that we will miss. We wrote small notes to everyone so we would have something to read in the plane. It was very emotional. At the end, we had a happy opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of our camp mates. We sang “Happy Birthday” with true smiles on our faces. That was the other moment which I will never forget.

The whole trip was an amazing experience and it had unforgettable moments which none of us will ever forget. We made strong connections of friendship which will last forever.  My friends and I want to thank everyone who somehow helped with organizing this trip for us. We also wanted to thank the people of Hawaii who showed us the beauty of hard work. But especially we wanted to thank two people who created this camp and organized our time in Hawaii. They were teaching us so many new things as well as taking care of us. Ashley and Elyse, because of you, this trip was excellent in every minor detail. You created this trip for us. By making every day so unforgettable. You taught us this small thing which will last in us for ever: “Every day is as good as you are going to make it!” We will try to share this knowledge with others. So once again, thank you for making these six days the best days of our lives!

Aloha from Hawaii!

high school hawaii trip

A few weeks ago, I, Annika, packed my suitcase and flew from Las Vegas to Honolulu, Hawaii. I flew alone, but as soon as I arrived, I made new friends with all the other exchange students in my Hawaii trip.

The first thing you hear when you arrive is‚ “Aloha!”, doesn’t that sound like a dream coming true? We were about 60 exchange students, from all around the world, all going through the same things, and all super excited to finally relax on the beautiful beach in Hawaii.

BeloUSA works with ICES together, and they offer a bunch of different trips. If you want to know more you can just ask your Local Coordinator, they’ll give you more information!

My favorite was definitely kayaking, because we basically paddled out to our own private island! It was unbelievably beautiful. The water in Hawaii is crystal clear, you see everything below you, and if you’re lucky, you might even see sea turtles! I also saw a few whales on my trip, which was definitely one of the top things on my bucket list!

high school hawaii trip

We had a lot of free time and beach days, where we could just explore the city on our own, or lay on the most beautiful beach in the world. And yes, we went to the #1 most beautiful beach in the world! At least that’s what our tour guides told us, but it really was unbelievably beautiful.

Hawaii in general is just breathtaking, believe me. You are literally in paradise. Imagine living on an island with crystal clear blue water, a super clean beach, all the people are generally nice to you, and you can just relax, relax and relax. That’s what is was like being in Hawaii. I also want to thank the tour guides, because they were just so cool and open minded with us. I definitely became friends with them, too.

For example, a student who has never tried rock climbing may discover a love for it during a school trip to a climbing gym.

  • Confronting Fears: Trips can be a great opportunity for students to push their comfort zones and confront their fears. For example, a student who is afraid of trying new foods may be more willing to try something unusual while on a trip with their classmates. This can help students build confidence and resilience, and become more comfortable with taking risks and stepping out of their comfort zones.
  • Building Connections: Trips can provide an informal and relaxed environment for students to interact with their peers and teachers. This can lead to stronger relationships and a greater sense of community within the school. Additionally, shared experiences on trips can create memories and bonds that last a lifetime.
  • Amusing Stories: Lastly, trips can be a source of unique and amusing stories to share with friends and family for years to come. These memories can serve as a source of laughter and reminiscing and provide a fun and quirky perspective on the student’s high school experience. Furthermore, this can be a great show-and-tell activity for high schoolers too.

In conclusion, high school trips are a fantastic opportunity to break away from the routine and embrace the quirky. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump used a day off from his hush money trial Friday to headline a Republican fundraiser in Minnesota, a traditionally Democratic state that he boasts he can carry in November.

Trump took the stage late as he headlined the state GOP’s annual Lincoln Reagan dinner in St. Paul after attending his son Barron’s high school graduation in Florida.

Declaring his appearance to be “an official expansion” of the electoral map of states that could be competitive in November, Trump said, “We’re going to win this state.”

“This November the people of Minnesota are going to tell Crooked Joe Biden — right? ‘The Apprentice’? ’You’re fired!’” Trump said, referencing his former reality television show and the catchphrase he used on it.

Trump boasted that the steep tariffs he imposed on foreign steel while serving as president bought the Iron Range, the iron mining area of northeastern Minnesota, “roaring back to life.” The area, with a heavy population of blue-collar workers and union workers, used to be solidly Democratic, but the region has been trending Republican in recent elections.

He also made a profane attack on President Joe Biden, calling him “a horrible president” who is “destroying our country” and then adding, “He’s a horrible human being too.”

Trump then shifted to calling the president a “non-athlete” and attacked his golf game, accusing him of inflating his golfing abilities and making other misrepresentations before using an expletive that drew loud laughs and sustained applause.

Trump was using part of the day granted by the trial judge for the graduation to campaign in Minnesota, a state he argues he can win in the November rematch with Biden. No Republican presidential candidate has won Minnesota since Richard Nixon in 1972, but Trump came close to flipping the state in 2016, when he fell 1.5 percentage points short of Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump returned to Minnesota several times in 2020, when Biden beat him by more than 7 percentage points.

“I think this is something Trump wants to do. He believes this is a state he can win. We believe that’s the case as well,” David Hann, the chairman of the Republican Party of Minnesota, said in an interview.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Tina Smith of Minnesota, a Biden ally, said the Trump campaign is “grasping at straws” if it thinks he can win the state.

“The Biden campaign is going to work hard for every vote,” Smith said in an interview. “We’re going to engage with voters all over the state. But I think Minnesota voters are going to choose President Biden.”

AP AUDIO: Trump heads to Minnesota to campaign after attending his son Barron’s Florida high school graduation

AP correspondent Julie Walker reports the Trump trial is off today so the former President can attend his son’s graduation.

Hann co-hosted Friday’s dinner along with Trump’s state campaign chair, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer , who represents a central Minnesota district. Hann said Emmer was instrumental in bringing the former president to Minnesota.

The dinner coincided with the party’s state convention and the roughly 1,400 attendees included former U.S. Sen. Rudy Boschwitz and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, who has been a prominent promoter of false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.

Tickets started at $500, ranging up to $100,000 for a VIP table for 10 with three photo opportunities with Trump. Hann declined to say how much money he expects it will raise, but he anticipates a full house of around 1,400 people.

All the money from the dinner tickets will go to the state party, Hann said, though he added that some money from photo opportunities may go to the Trump campaign. Ahead of Trump’s remarks Friday night, Emmer and Hann told the crowd that thanks to the fundraiser, the state party was out of debt for the first time in 10 years.

“No sham trial is going to keep President Trump off the campaign trail. And it’s definitely not going to stop us from turning Minnesota red in November,” Emmer said in his remarks.

Experts are split on whether Minnesota really will be competitive this time, given its history and the strong Democratic Party ground game in the state. But Hann said there’s “great dissatisfaction with President Biden” in the state, noting that nearly 19% of Democratic voters in its Super Tuesday primary marked their ballots for “uncommitted.” That was at least partly due to a protest-vote movement over Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war that has spread to several states.

Trump on Friday night repeated a false claim that he won Minnesota in the 2020 election, wrongly declaring he won “a landslide in your state.”

There’s no evidence that there were any serious irregularities in the state.

Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, graduated Friday morning from the private Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. The former president, who attended the graduation with his wife, Melania Trump, and her father, Viktor Knavs, had long complained Judge Juan M. Merchan would not let him attend the graduation before Merchan agreed not to hold court Friday.
