The Best Small Camper Vans in Australia | 2024

Posted on Published: February 13, 2024

White campervan in front of mountain, with text overlay: Best small campervans Australia 2023.

I love looking for the best small camper vans here in Australia, and as I see bigger and bigger motorhomes and caravans on the roads, it makes me even more determined that I would opt for a campervan rather than a large motorhome or caravan.

I’d travel around Australia indefinitely, just going wherever the weather is not too hot or cold, and taking my whole house with me wherever I go.

While I do love small camper vans, I do feel like it wouldn’t be great to live in it full-time as a couple .

But IF I were by myself, I think one of the smallest camper vans (but still with a bathroom!) would suit me just perfectly.

I’d have an electric bike on the back though, so I could head off to the shops or do a little bit of sightseeing, without having to pack everything up.

As a couple, I think a camper van would be great for just holidays, not to live in all the time.

So I’ve scoured the internet for campervan manufacturers here in Australia. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at just how many manufacturers there are.

I’ve collated my favourite vans in this list, and only included new camper vans that you could buy now.

No motorhomes or truck campers, and no one-off van conversions either.

Just to be clear, you may see camper vans referred to as a Class B. That’s the North American phrasing, and it means the same thing.

Oh, and I’ve only included models that have a bathroom.

Let’s get stuck in!

Looking for the perfect camper van?

Get our free campervan comparison spreadsheet to help you find the right van for you, all terrain campervan – by jayco, applause – by avan, bondi – by winnebago, escape – by avida, jabiru – by trakka, kruiswagon – by kimberley kampers, otway – by windsor, wattle – by horizon motorhomes.

It can be a bit overwhelming trying to find the campervan that best suits your needs. So I’ve created a spreadsheet with ALL the campervans and base vans (i.e. non-converted) that can be bought new in Australia.

It includes the exterior dimensions, interior height, base price, seating and bed layout, bathroom, solar and air conditioning; with links to each one.

Just enter your name and email address and I’ll send you the spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet includes all make/models of campervans and base vans manufactured, or sold new, in Australia.

Includes dimensions, specs like berths, solar & aircon, as well as base price and URLs.

Front left view of the Jayco All Terrain Campervan.

Of the 3 campervan models that Jayco manufacture (All Terrain, Optimum & JRV), the All Terrain is the only 4WD model, and this layout is also available in the other two models. (However, they’re 2WD and $20-30k cheaper. :-O)

Jayco must be one of the biggest manufacturers of caravans here in Australia, but they’re not nearly so well known for their motorhome and camper van range.

However, their popular name and huge dealer network for the caravans probably helps them get these campers out there.

The main thing I like about the Applause by Avan, is the rather nice bathroom. I have to admit that the shower does look a bit squishy, but the bathroom isn’t all practical, with no style.

Other than that, the Avan looks like a good standard camper van layout. I certainly have a preference for these layouts where you don’t have to choose between a seat or a bed, so this one fits the bill.

Front left view of the Winnebago Bondi 2S FB campervan.

I didn’t realise that Winnebago have their own manufacturing plant here in Australia. And so we’re producing our own camper vans with model names based on some of our iconic beaches (like Bondi).

The Winnebago Bondi looks pretty similar to many other camper vans available here in Australia. Except with Winnebago, it’s backed by that very well-known brand name and decades of experience.

Check out the Winnebago Bondi here .

Grey Avida Escape campervan with orange highlights

The electric roll down bed is a game-changer for me.

Previously, the idea of having to lower a table (well, first clean the table), play tetris with the cushions, make the whole bed from scratch (fitted sheets and all) and then get to sleep on a higglety-pigglety mattress with seams going every which way, did not appeal to me.

Having the bed (already made!) lower down from the roof, takes away all that annoyance.

Check out the Avida website for more info on the Escape . They’ve also got a good 3D walkthrough.

Price: from $156,000

White Trakka Jabiru campervan in a wooded setting, with the awning out and side door open.

It’s so refreshing to come across a camper van that has some unique features, that no one else has… yet.

The Trakka range of campervans is exactly that.

In this Jabiru they’ve got a really nice twin bed setup, a second fridge that swivels to the outside, a workbench that can be attached to the outside of the sliding door, and other neat tricks.

Totally worth checking out if you’re after something luxury AND unique.

Below is their promo video, but it shows all the cool features that can be a bit hard to find on the website.

And this article by Roam Magazine is somewhat gushing… but I think this particular camper van is worthy of it. You can read the article on Time to Roam here.

I totally recommend checking out their website. Even if you’re not actually in the market for a camper van. But you just love looking at RVs that have some new and innovative ideas. Click here for the Trakka Jabiru website.

Exterior view of the Kimberley Kampers Kruiswagen campervan parked on rocky ground.

Kimberley Kampers brought out their first motorised RV (they’re well known for their unique caravans) in 2023. And they’re off to a flying start!

The Kruiswagen is built on the Mercedes Sprinter 419 LWB AWD (Yay!) and it has some great features like the drop-down electric bed, waterless toilet and induction cooktop.

You can see all the details on video:

See the Kimberley Kampers Kruiswagen here .

Price: from $189,063

Exterior view of the Windsor Otway campervan parked in a grassy field.

Windsor are most well known for their caravans, but in the last few years have jumped into the driveable RVs with a small range of motorhomes.

And now their newest offering is the Otway campervan.

I think this might be the only Australian campervan I’ve seen that utilises the garage conversion bed set up. So during the day you can lift up the centre portion of the bed allowing you to transport larger items (like bikes) but then easily convert it back to a bed at night.

See the Windsor Otway here.

Price: from $134,990

Side view of a white Horizon Motorhomes Wattle campervan with the side door open.

Built on the Mercedes Sprinter LWB, this campervan has plenty of room for a couple. With the option of single beds on either side of the van, or a queen with a walkway down one side; it’s also got a slightly bigger bathroom as well as captains chairs that swivel around to make a comfy seating area.

And yep, it comes with optional 4WD.

I follow the Horizon Instagram page, so I see the pictures that they show of Horizon camper van owners out and about in the Australian landscape, just enjoying all the beauty on offer.

It totally makes me want to be out there… preferably in one of their motorhome / camper vans!

If this post has convinced you that a camper van is not your thing (!) then I’ve put together posts on small caravans,   fifth wheels and a small motorhome which may be the type of RV that is better suited to you.

What do you think of these small camper vans?

Would travel around Australia in one of these small RV campers, or do you need something a little bit bigger? Tell us in the comments.

These are too damn big! Where is something genuinely small and innovative? They have them in Europe and Asia - 5.5 metres or less and easy to drive, park and store. Australians deserve better choices.

Monday 24th of January 2022

I wouldnt class these as "small" Campervans based on VW Transporter and HiAce would be more in line with smaller campervans.

Tuesday 25th of January 2022

That's true. But unfortunately, neither of those are big enough to fit a bathroom.

Michelle I have a garage with roller slide door. What brand campervan you recommend to look for that would fit? I want to be a grey nomad so do not need big

Sunday 31st of January 2021

Hi Meg, Well it depends how tall your garage door is, but I suspect that you'll be limited to the smaller, pop-top type of campervans. I'm thinking something like the Trakkadu from Trakka https://trakka.com.au/models/trakkadu But download the spec sheet to check for dimensions. Good luck with your search! :-)

Saturday 23rd of January 2021

Have you looked at the Trakka Jabiru J2M? I am considering this with the possibility of attaching a motorbike carrier (to carry a Harley Davidson Street 500) that attaches to the tow hitch. I will be doing some firetrail driving but not hard-core 4wd.

Oh yes, it's actually my favourite model of them all! But with a 6'2" husband that east-west bed would be a bit too short, I think. Have you downloaded the spec sheet from the Trakka website? It has all the technical specs like payload. I think that would be your biggest concern, is how much weight you'd be adding to the van. But a motorbike to do all your sightseeing and errands, sounds awesome!

17 Best Camper Vans 2024 (New Class B RVs Available!)

Our 2020 leisure travel vans wonder rtb – complete walkthrough and review, welcome to the complete reveal and walkthrough of our  2020 leisure travel vans wonder rtb model, an rv that jennifer and i have totally fallen in love with.

  • 1.1 Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #1: Rear Twin Beds
  • 1.2 Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #2 – The “Garage”
  • 1.3 Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #3 – The Ford Transit AWD chassis
  • 1.4 Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #4 – A standup dry shower
  • 1.5.1 10 Other things we like about our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB
  • 2.1 Mike and Jennifer's Summer T-Shirts for your next adventure

Over the eight years, we’ve bought and used a bunch of different Class B and B+ RVs. But this one – marketed as a Class B+ but legally for titling and insurance purposes a Class C motorhome – is the one that pushes more of our most-wanted RV features than any other coach we have had.

Photo of our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the road

We just released a mega-video walkthrough tour on our RV Lifestyle YouTube channel.

The video is almost 32 minutes long but we tried to cover every major feature of our new home on wheels.

In this article – meant to be a companion read – I’ll offer some other details about the things we show and tell in the video, specifically focussing in on 5 things that persuaded us to buy the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB.

For starters, here’s the video.

Now, let’s talk about our most-wanted features that we found in the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB.

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #1: Rear Twin Beds

leisure travel vans rear twin beds

Rear Twin Bed is what RTB stands for. After years of converting a sofa into a bed and, most recently, setting up and taking down a Murphy bed on our previous LTV Unity FX model, the idea of having two beds in the rear of our unit all made up and ready was something we both really wanted. Those twins, by the way, can easily be pushed together into a Queen, as seen in the video .

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #2 – The “Garage”

The garage on the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder can hold two bicycles

We like small motorhomes because they are small. Meaning maneuverable. But all of our previous RVs just did not have enough storage space to bring along all the things we wanted. I'm not talking about a crazy amount of stuff. I'm talking a couple of gravity-style lounge chairs.  Maybe some inflatable kayaks. Golf clubs. Cross country skis and poles.

Jennifer shows off the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder garage

Our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB model has a huge pass-through storage area in the rear that we call “the garage.” It can hold up to 500 pounds of cargo! I can even get a couple of bicycles in there.  (The RTB model is the only LTV Wonder model that has the garage.)

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #3 – The Ford Transit AWD chassis

Photo of the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder parked

I wrote a detailed blog post that you can read about why we chose Ford Transit chassis versus the Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis that our other RVs were built on. You can read that HERE . But let me just say that as an RV journalist, I feel I need to know and experience the Ford Transit as an RV because it is becoming so popular in the industry.

Add to that All Wheel Drive, which assures great traction on snow and ice (we love winter camping) and navigation over backcountry two-tracks (we love boondocking), and you can see why we jumped at the chance to get a Leisure Travel Vans Wonder with AWD.

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #4 – A standup dry shower

Look at the video and you'll see how the self-contained, standup dry shower in our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder can accommodate someone 6'2″.  It even has a sunroof to let in lots of natural light. The RV comes with the Truma Aqua Go instant hot water heater which means water is always hot and you don't waste by having to leave it running to warm up.

Turn it on and it's instantly warm, and because the shower is totally separate from the rest of the RV, there's nothing that needs to be toweled off and dried. Except you, of course. The “wet” showers on the Class B RVs we used to have always required more time to dry the bathroom than it took to shower.

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #5 – Separate areas for sleeping, working, eating and lounging

The door on the shower has a double function. It can be used to seal the bedroom area at the rear of the coach from the front galley and lounge area. I'm an early riser. I get up about 5:30 AM. Jennifer (and Bo) like to sleep till around 7.

I can block off the back ( check the video to see how that works) and make my morning coffee, read, work, and putz around the front of the RV without disturbing them.

10 Other things we like about our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder picnic table

You'll have to check the video but they include:

  • The stowaway picnic table
  • The two 100 amp lithium batteries
  • The 400 watts of solar panels
  • The 2,000-watt inverter
  • The touchscreen Firefly control center
  • The massive inside storage under the beds
  • The large bathroom
  • The rooftop Winegard ConnecT2 Wifi Extender and 4G LTE antenna
  • Being prewired for satellite TV
  • The heater to warm the lithium batteries in cold weather

Finally, I know a lot of you are curious about how much the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the Ford Transit chassis costs. It starts at $119,210. Options are extra. If you want to price out one with the options you'd like, go to https://leisurevans.com/build/wonder/

Hi guys – Great video! We are in the beginning stages of shopping for our first RV, and the Wonder RTB really caught our eye, mostly for the floorplan. Loved seeing a little bit of how you’re organizing, and see yourselves using the space. Very helpful for us, as we have no RV experience to go from. Looking forward to watching and reading more!

The 15 Best Camper Vans for Getting Away From It All in Style

The first years of this decade have already provided ample evidence that it’s important to get away from our daily lives from time to time.  And you don’t have to suffer the airport hordes or step foot on a plane to do so. We currently find ourselves in something of a golden age for luxury trailers, which has made it easier than ever to take your life on the road without sacrificing many, and in some cases any, of the comforts of home. And now, there are plenty of manufacturers and dedicated conversion shops giving the same treatment to vans and other similar vehicles. They may not be able to sleep as many people as their hulking cousins—with one key exception—but these all-in-one wonders come loaded with perks such as high-end kitchens, Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia systems, and plush beds. Plus, their relatively smaller size means they are more agile, off-road friendly, and easier to park. Below are 15 campers that will let you experience #vanlife in comfort and style.

Our Best Camper Van Picks

Best overall: airstream interstate 24x, best for off-roading: jayco terrain, best for weekend getaways: mercedes-benz eqt marco polo, best for off-the-grid trips: winnebago solis, best for cyclists: outside van tails, best for camping (anywhere): storyteller overland beast mode 4×4, best to live in: loki expeditions discovery series, best all-electric option: tonke eqv.

  • Best for G-Wagen Lovers: Terracamper Tecrawl

Best With a Bathroom and Shower: Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary

Best for $50,000: caravan outfitter free bird, best for families: winnebago boldt, best for winter road trips: sportsmobile sprinter 4×4, best conversion: boho old faithful, best for diy couples: ford transit trail.

Airstream Interstate 24X

Airstream. Thankfully, the company isn’t afraid to branch out. Just look at the  Interstate 24X , the trailer maker’s attempt to take the camper van to new heights. Built on the bones of a  Mercedes-Benz  Sprinter—like a lot of the models on this list—the vehicle has everything you need to rough it in comfort. Airstream has done a lot to maximize space in its climate-controlled cabin. A modular dining table doubles as a desk, and it can be easily converted into the largest sleeping area in a Class B Motorhome. There’s also a full mini kitchen and bathroom. You can take the van off-roading, too. In addition to a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 engine that churns out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque, it also comes equipped with four-wheel drive, a height-adjustable suspension and all-terrain tires. Pricing for the all-around beast starts at $213,850.

Inside the Airstream Interstate 24X

Special Features: —A climate-controlled living area that has been designed to maximize available space. —A modular dinner table, a mini-kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet.

Jayco Terrain

Jayco is best known for its hulking travel trailers, but like Airstream, it can do compact, too (well, compact enough to fit in a parking space, that is). The US company’s new  Terrain  model, which starts at $192,000, is an adventure van designed for those who like to veer from the beaten path. As the name suggests, it’s designed for off-roading, with a turbo-diesel V-6, Koni shocks, a rear stabilizer and a rear hitch strong enough to tow an additional trailer if you need more room. Inside, it’s a little spartan compared to some other options on this list, but its kitchenette can be converted into a sleeping area with room for a full-size bed, as well as plenty of storage space beneath. There’s even a built-in awning when you need some shade in the summer months.

Special Features: —Equipped with Koni shocks, a rear stabilizer and a heavy-duty tow hitch. —Kitchenette can be converted into a spacious sleeping area with room for a full-size bed.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT Marco Polo from the side The Concept EQT Marco Polo

Mercedes-Benz clearly doesn’t want to relinquish its title as the go-to van maker for outdoor lovers. At last year’s Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, the German marque showed off a prototype based on its upcoming all-electric EQT van called the Marco Polo. The stylish EV has everything you need for a weekend at the campground and is more compact than the ubiquitous Sprinter. When the van’s rear seats are folded down, the back can be used as either a sleeping area with room for a double bed or a cooking and entertaining space. The kitchen doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the other entries on this list, but it does have a pull-out stove, fridge and sink. There’s also a pop-up, roof-mounted tent if your travel party includes more than two. The Marco Polo is a concept, but Mercedes will sell a module that will allow you to turn any EQT into a camper van when the $51,500 EV goes on sale in the spring.

Inside the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT Marco Polo The Concept EQT Marco Polo

Special Features: —All-electric power train, so you don’t have to worry about doing too much damage to nature while you explore it. —Its  camping  gear—from the bed to the kitchenette—is part of a module that can be fully removed when you need more cargo room.

Winnebago Solis Pocket 36B

The Winnebago Solis is for adventurers who don’t want to be confined to the campground. The van is available with an optional power kit that has everything a group of up to four adults needs to spend a few days off-the-grid. The setup, which includes an inverter, a shore battery converter, a battery energy converter, a solar energy converter and an alternator energy optimizer, can produce enough power to keep the van and all its features running for up to 72 hours. On top of that, the van features a kitchenette, a convertible entertainment area with room for a double bed, and a full-width wet bath.

The Winnebago Solis Pocket 36B's dinette can be converted into a full-size bed

Special Features: —A unique power kit that can provide enough power to spend up to 72 hours off the grid. —Still has all the features you’d expect from a luxe camper van, including a full-width wet bath.

The Outside Van Tails next to a cyclist

If you like to mix biking and camping, Outside Van has the vehicle for you. The Portland brand’s  Tails  model is a camper van designed with cyclists in mind. The van, which is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, has everything you need for a few days away from home, including a kitchenette, a roll-over sofa and a convertible mattress. But what really sets it apart is the rear of the vehicle that’s basically an on-the-go bicycle repair shop, with a fold-down work table, an air compressor and Molle panels to hang all your tools. If that wasn’t enough, it somehow has room for six bikes, even when the bed is laid out for the night.

The interior of the Outside Van Tails

Special Features: —The back of the van is basically a bicycle-repair shop with a fold-down table, an air compressor and plenty of storage space for tools. —Has room for six bikes, even when its convertible sleeping area is out.

Storyteller Overland Beast Mode 4x4

This latest offering from Storyteller Overland, based in Birmingham, Ala., is a true adventure van. The  Beast Mode 4×4  is the outfit’s most feature-packed model yet and was designed specifically for overlanding (as you may have guessed from the company’s name). It’s a true 4×4 powered by a 188 hp turbodiesel V-6 that’s strong enough to tow an additional 5,000 pounds. Its slick retro-style livery is offset with loads of useful off-roading gear, too, such as an LED light package, a roof rack and a side ladder and custom wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich K02 tires. Inside, you’ll find everything you need to relax after a day of exploring, including a cushy lounge that can be converted to a full-size sleeping area. There’s even a climate-control system to ensure you’re comfortable no matter the weather outside. It’s priced at a flat $198,746, for everything listed above.

Inside the Storyteller Overland Beast Mode 4x4

Special Features: —Turbodiesel V-6 sends 188 hp of power to all four wheels and is strong enough to tow 5,000 extra pounds. —Surprisingly cushy lounge for an off-roading beast.

The Loki Expedition Discovery Series Expedition Vehicle

Let’s get this out of the way: the Loki Expeditions Discovery Series isn’t technically a camper van. It’s a giant expedition vehicle, but because its cabin is installed directly onto a heavy-duty truck chassis you also don’t need anything to tow it. The vehicle’s cabin is what separates it from anything else on this list. Loki Expeditions has turned a shipping container—yes, you read that right—into a full-featured living space that has all the amenities you’d expect to find in a luxury apartment, including a full kitchen with a large fridge, an entertainment area with a U-shaped banquet, and a wet bath with a cassette toilet. It’s also big enough to sleep six adults, with room for two in the dedicated bedroom and four in the entertainment area. And because the heavy-duty vehicle, which starts at $550,000, has all-wheel drive, you can take it practically anywhere.

The Loki Expedition Discovery Series's living area and kitchenette

Special Features: —Cabin has all the features you’d expect to find in a well-appointed apartment and can sleep six adults. —Built on a burly heavy-duty truck chassis that gives you the freedom to venture off the beaten path.

The Tonke Mercedes-Benz EQV Touring with its pop-up tent opened

Looking for an EV you can take to the campground. The upcoming EQV just might fit the bill. Despite its relatively compact size—it’s smaller than the ever-popular Sprinter—Dutch camping outfit Tonke has managed to outfit it with everything you need to spend some time communing with nature. It has an entertainment area that doubles as a workspace along with a kitchenette, both of which can be converted into a two-person sleeping area with a simple flip of a bench (a roof-mounted, pop-up tent means it can sleep two more, too). Best of all, there are two variants available—the Touring, which is designed for long road trips, and the Adventure, which is aimed at casual campers.

Inside the Tonke Mercedes-Benz EQV Touring

Special Features: —Fully electronic power train means you won’t have to worry about filling up the tank (though the battery is another story). —Can sleep up to four even despite its relatively compact size.

Best for G-Wagen Lovers: Terracamper Tecrawl

The Terracamper Tecrawl with its awning and kitchenette out

The Tecrawl isn’t a camper van per se, but it’s hard to leave something this cool off a list like this. Terracamper’s latest offering is based on one of Mercedes-Benz’s most legendary vehicles, the G-Wagen . The German shop has dreamed up a modular accessory kit for the luxury 4×4, that starts at $11,900 and includes a roof-mounted tent, a convertible sofa, and a pull-out kitchenette with a fridge box. Thanks to the ingenious setup, the boxy SUV can sleep up to three and act as your home base next time you want to rough it for the weekend. And because it’s a G-Wagen you can take it as far off-road as you want.

Inside the Terracamper Tecrawl's rear cargo area

Special Features: —A G-Wagen but has room for up to three people to sleep. —Packs a brawny powertrain that’s well-suited for off-road adventures.

Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary

Thor Motor Coach makes camper vans for those uninterested in making sacrifices. With the  Sanctuary , the company has taken Mercedes-Benz’s already excellent Sprinter 2500 4×4 and turned it into something you could easily live on—on or off the grid. The off-road-ready vehicle comes in two configurations—the 19P ($148,680), which features a back bench that converts into a bed, or the 19L ($151,060), which has a fixed double bed. Even with the bed there’s still plenty of room for other creature comforts, including a bathroom, an entertainment area with a TV and a kitchen with a sink, a dual-burner cooktop, a convection microwave oven and a fridge. An Onan 2500 LP generator keeps everything up and running, too, including an A/C system you can leave on for eight hours at a time. There’s also retractable power awning when you want to spend some time outdoors.

Inside the Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary

Special Features: —Full-featured bathroom has a sink, a shower and a toilet. —Available with your choice of either a convertible or a fixed bed.

The Caravan Outfitter Free Bird from the side

Caravan Outfitter’s third-generation Free Bird isn’t the most feature-laden camper van out there, but it has everything you and the family need to spend a weekend (or more) at the campground. The van, which starts at $50,810, is built on the relatively compact Ford Transit Connect platform but still has room for a full-size bed, a multi-purpose table that can be used as a dinette or workstation, and a pull-out kitchenette with a sink. Because it’s smaller than other options on this list, it only has room to sleep two, but there are several enticing add-ons, including roof- and rear-mounted capsule tents, in case you’re traveling group includes more people.

Inside the Caravan Outfitter Free Bird

Special Features: —It’s the rare camper van that’s small enough to be comfortably parked inside your garage. —Caravan Outfitters offers several intriguing add-ons so you customize it to your liking.

Winnebago Boldt

Airstream isn’t the only famous RV maker that’s gotten into the camper van game. Winnebago actually sells several, and our favorite is the luxe  Boldt . Despite being nowhere near as long as one of its campers—it caps out at 22 feet in length—the $230,276 van has everything you’d expect from the larger vehicle, including dedicated living and sleeping areas, a fully functional kitchen and a bathroom equipped with a shower. You also have several interior decor options to choose from, each of which delivers an updated take on classic Winnebago style. The Boldt is designed for paved roads and campgrounds, but if you want a more rugged ride, the brand also offers the off-road-ready  Revel.

Inside the Winnebago Boldt

Special Features: —Stretches 22 feet bumper to bumper, meaning there’s plenty of room for you and yours. —Enough space for dedicated entertaining and sleeping areas.

Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4

Take one look at  Sportsmobile’s Sprinter 4×4  and it’s clear what its designers had in mind: off-roading. Whether you go with the 12- or 14-foot configuration, the Texas outfit’s stripped-down take on Mercedes’s ultra-popular van comes equipped with a 3.0-liter BlueTec V-6 connected to a five-speed automatic transmission and pumps out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque. That should be more than enough to tackle even the toughest terrain. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living area with a full-featured kitchen. If you want even more room, you can also opt for a pop-up sleeping area that’ll make it that much easier to lounge in comfort.

Inside the Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4

Special Features: —Well insulated throughout, but also has space for a propane furnace or heater. — 3.0-liter BlueTec V-6 and four-wheel drive mean it can take on any terrain.

The Boho Old Faithful from the side

Struggling to find a camper van that’s just right? Boho might be able to help. The Arizona-based company specializes in conversions and will work with you to create the vehicle of your dreams. The company offers several 20- to 24-foot layouts—of which the most popular is the appropriately named Old Faithful—that can be further tailored to meet your needs, whether your priority is multi-season versatility, lots of cooking space, or spending serious amounts of time on the road. The company also offers plenty of cool add-ons too, like wood paneling and flooring.

Inside the Boho Old Faithful

Special Features: —Versatile layouts that can be further customized so that you’re getting the exact van you want. —The wooden interior option looks better than it has any right to.

The 2023 Ford Transit Trail from the side

Ford’s ready to knock the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter off its perch. The Detroit giant unveiled its own camper van, the Transit Trail, last fall. The adventure-ready vehicle is based on its uber-popular commercial van but is taller, wider and outfitted with protective body cladding. It’s also powered by a potent V-6 that sends 310 horses and 400 ft lbs to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Right now, Ford seems content to let the $65,975 vehicle be the base for the camper van of your dreams, but it comes loaded with a slew of features that will come in handy at the campground, including a drillable wall you can use to install shelves, a kitchenette or furniture, along with a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a back-up camera. It also available in three body configurations—medium-roof, standard length; high-roof, standard length; and high-roof, extended length—one of which should fit your needs.

Inside the 2023 Ford Transit Trail

Special Features: —It’s basically a blank slate for you and your partner to create your own dream camper. —Still comes with premium features such as a 12-inch infotainment screen and a back-up camera.

Insider Today

Leisure Travel Vans has created a 2021 version of its Unity RV starting at $138,460.

Leisure Travel Vans specializes in creating Class C RVs on two ever-popular camper van chassis : the Ford Transits and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The Unity specifically is built on a 170-inch Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis that is powered by a three-liter V6 BlueTEC diesel engine, allowing the tiny home on wheels to achieve 16 to 18 miles-per-gallon.

According to Leisure Vans , Unity's exterior was made to look "clean, stylish, and aerodynamic", which is achieved through several design details of the van, such as its frameless windows. This crisp appearance is also carried into the interior, which has a modern look and semi-customizable complimentary colors.

While there are minimal aesthetic changes between the 2020 and 2021 Unity build, the 2021 refreshment has several new standard features, such as a flip-down towel bar in the shower, latches on the exterior storage compartments, a magnetic accessory strip, and new dinette seats that make room for an optional inflatable bed.

Keep scrolling to learn about the 2021 Unity, which is paired with the 2020 photos due to the small number of aesthetic changes:

The van has a width of seven feet, 11 inches, and a height of 10 feet, 6 inches including the air conditioning unit.

The body of the vehicle itself is comprised of aluminum walls, insulated floors, and fiberglass roof.

leisure travel vans australia

All six of the 2021 Unity floor plans come with a dry bathroom setup that includes a shower, sink, and toilet.

leisure travel vans australia

Entertainment options onboard include a bluetooth-capable sound bar and several television screens around the tiny home on wheels.

leisure travel vans australia

For cooking on the road, Unity's kitchen comes equipped with a refrigerator-freezer, sink, cooktop and several storage cabinets.

leisure travel vans australia

There's also an optional exterior table that allows passengers to dine on the Unity kitchen-made meals outside of the van.

leisure travel vans australia

The RV comes equipped with LED and accent lights to brighten up the interior.

leisure travel vans australia

All of this is powered by a 2,000-watt inverter, two 6-volt coach batteries, and a water filtration system.

leisure travel vans australia

The driver and passenger seats are both heated and can swivel to face the interior of the van, allowing them to serve as extra seats at the dining table for certain floor plans.

leisure travel vans australia

Its makers also included "upgraded" safety features, like lane-keep and active brake assistance.

leisure travel vans australia

Leisure Travel Vans offers different upholstery and cabinet colors that allow the interior to be semi-customizable.

leisure travel vans australia

For example, clients can pick between Cherry, Espresso Brown, or Sierra Maple colored wood cabinets for all of the Unity floor plans …

leisure travel vans australia

… except for the Rear Lounge layout, which has either Cashmere or Natural Rift colored cabinets.

leisure travel vans australia

The exterior paint color can also be changed to colors like Glacier, Denim, and Europe Sport, to name a few options.

leisure travel vans australia

The van has six different floor plans with varying specs, amenities, and bed sizes and locations.

leisure travel vans australia

The first floor plan, the $138,460 Island Bed, offers a 58-inch by 74-inch bed by the rear of the RV lined that's lined with storage units and wardrobes.

leisure travel vans australia

The Island Bed layout can seat four people and sleep up to two while still offering up to 63 cubic feet of exterior storage.

leisure travel vans australia

The layout also includes details like a pass-through storage compartment that has both interior and exterior access, and a chaise lounge by the front of the RV that can also be used as the dining area.

leisure travel vans australia

The $138,915 Twin Bed floor plan unsurprisingly has two 34-inch by 76-inch twin beds with under-bed storage.

leisure travel vans australia

The two beds can also be combined into an 88-inch by 76-inch king bed, allowing the build to seat four and sleep two.

leisure travel vans australia

Like the Island Bed floor plan, the Twin Bed has pass-through storage and the chaise lounge.

leisure travel vans australia

The $141,385 Corner Bed layout can seat and sleep four people with its 52-inch by 76-inch bed and dinette area that can convert into a second slumber spot.

leisure travel vans australia

It also has 36 cubic feet of exterior storage space.

leisure travel vans australia

The $146,065 Murphy Bed floor plan has, of course, a 68-inch by 76-inch Murphy bed and a daybed.

leisure travel vans australia

There's also a subwoofer to accompany the standard soundbar.

leisure travel vans australia

The dual seat and table lounge system, which is accessible when the Murphy bed isn't in use, can be configured into six different layouts

leisure travel vans australia

The $143,725 FX takes a different approach with its floor plan by including a 68-inch by 76-inch Murphy bed, lounge seating that can convert into a daybed, and a couch in the rear with an ottoman that can be extended upwards to create a desk.

leisure travel vans australia

This allows the van to sleep and seat up to two people while still including 34 cubic feet of exterior storage.

leisure travel vans australia

The $142,935 Rear Lounge comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, an optional inflatable bed by the front of the RV …

leisure travel vans australia

… and a rear lounge area with a sectional sofa that can turn into the bedroom when the 57-inch by 75-inch Murphy bed is lowered.

leisure travel vans australia

This allows the unit to sleep and seat four people, but also offers the least amount of exterior storage: 30 cubic feet.

Wow! Do yourself a favour and take some time out to enjoy a break in one of the amazing caravans from Leisure Hire Qld. Simple, streamlined booking process and an immaculate caravan with everything you need for an incredible holiday. We just had the BEST HOLIDAY EVER and will definitely be back to re-book. Thanks Steph and Richard for making it so easy and enjoyable for us - we couldn’t be happier!  James Berkeley
This was one of the best experiences we have ever had when it comes to hiring equipment from people (let along private owners). The van was immaculate, clean and very comfortable. Stephanie and Richard went to every effort ensuring we had everything we needed for our first camping trip as a family. They were fabulous with the pick up making themselves available at pretty much anytime we could be there, spent as much time as we needed showing us how to set up and operate everything in the van and then the thoughtful things like an emergency pack of the usual "forgotten things". The van towed extremely well and has been very well looked after (everything is like new).  We can't thankyou enough Stephanie and Richard for providing us with everything we needed for an unforgettable few days away on our first camping trip as a family. We'd love the opportunity to hire it again and will definitely be back again. James Hinton
Best holiday ever. Thank so much for the Franklin, we had a great time. Booking was very easy and great communication from Steph and Richard. The van was perfectly clean and had everything in it as advertised. We will certainly be coming back again for our next holiday. Thanks Leisure Caravans.   Michael Jeynes
Richard and Steph truly care about my family's holiday.  It's not often that someone is so happy and willing to share their experiences and wisdom in order to make sure you have a great time.  Thanks for taking the time guys! Carmel Wooding
