USA adventure

Recently returned from a trip of a lifetime to Vegas, Hawaii & San Francisco. This is the 4th holiday that Karen Thornton has organised for my family, with the 5th holiday only 90 days away. The hotels were lovely and the pre booked excursions all ran smoothly. It’s great being able to trust someone to put a package together from start to finish and it turn out just like I imagined it would.

Suzi is a very knowledgeable consultant as she recommended a hotel that she has been to herself. She has given us lots of useful tips and fully explained the booking process. I will definitely be using her again and recommending her to my friends and family.

Amazing honeymoon- Thailand

We used Helen (Walker) to help build and book our honeymoon. I have used Helen previously before for trips such as New York & Italy and she did such an amazing job then we knew we needed her help when it came to booking our honeymoon. The best thing about going with Helen is you know she is going to do such a detailed job but also you can contact her before/ during the trip with any questions or queries and she will sort it out and go above and beyond. Helen put together multiple quotes for us until we were happy with the perfect one and she listened to what we wanted from the trip and put together the honeymoon of dreams. We also used the travel counsellors honeymoon pot which was a great way for our guests to know their wedding gift was going towards making memories on our honeymoon. Thank you Helen (Walker) if you are in doubt I would always recommend using her in any trips you are wanting to get booked.

Tour of South America

We used Pam Fells from Travel Counsellors to book our tour of South America. We gave Pam a list of places that we wanted to go and things we wanted to see. Pam provided us with five different tour options and we selected a tour with Cox and Kings. Pam was really helpful in making the booking and contacting Cox and Kings on our behalf with our questions and queries, through to checking us in for our international flights and sending our boarding passes. Pam made everything really easy and we would definitely book with her again.

Dual centre Kuala Lumpur and Bali

Our first time using a travel agent in a long time. Vanessa Couper was amazing, putting together a number of itineraries for us to choose from. She kept us informed of all requirements for entry and changes to our flights when they occurred. Cannot recommend enough!!!

Excellent booking experience with Jayne Lomax

We booked a holiday to Tenerife with Jayne Lomax and the service provided was excellent. We were in a room advertised as for 4 people but the hotel told her that our party of 5 would be fine. She checked this twice more before our arrival just to make sure! There was a little note in our room from her wishing us a happy holiday – such a wonderful touch as it made us feel very special. We did have a problem with the transfer from the airport but Jayne was only a text away and responded immediately to get everything sorted. Then for our return transfer she confirmed it numerous times and, as she was due to be on a flight herself at the time, put us in touch with another travel counsellor who would be able to help if the worst happened. It was all fine but it was good to know we still had support if needed. It’s really great to know that support is so close, and that we can trust Jayne to make things right on the odd occasion there is a mishap. We had a fabulous holiday and will definitely book with Jayne again and highly recommend her!

Mauritius booked with Gemma

We used Gemma to book our holiday to Mauritius. Gemma found us 2 hotels as we wanted to split our holiday by staying in 2 different locations. It was also our honeymoon, so Gemma arranged the honeymoon package in both hotels where we received dinner on the beach and bubbly in our room. The holiday was easy to book through Gemma and took the stress away. We always knew that if we had any problems that Gemma would be at the end of the phone and in the lead up she was able to answer any questions we had. Both hotels were lovely and the transfers Gemma arranged were great, with no problems at all.

Hayley Bass has helped book several of our holidays over the years. Hayley has been flexible with my often varied ideas on holidays. Always delivers with what I am looking for. Using travel counsellors takes the admin hassle away, price is competitive often cheaper than the big players. Looking forward to many more holidays that Hayley can help us with.

Takes so much holiday stress away...

I rarely travel abroad however the last couple of times have been via highly knowledgeable and friendly Travel Counsellors. Jade Hawkins sent myself and my family away to the Azores in 2019 and I recently travelled with Hayley and Carla to Iceland in November 2023. I'm not the most experienced traveller so it was perfect to know that amazing people were always at the end of a message or a phone call away. Not sure where we may go next, but I'm sure we will be using an amazing Travel Counsellor either way!

Best personal service

I used Grant Bowles from Travel Counsellors to help me book a Florida trip next year with the in-laws and my kids. From the onset, Grant was very keen to get us the best possible package with the least amount of hassle. Grant demonstrated extensive knowledge of his trade and one can tell that he has spent years in the travel industry. The service from start to finish was smooth as butter and I now have a "go-to" for all my travel queries. Would highly recommend Grant as you will not be dissapointed.

Amazing trip to Prague with Victoria Costello

We booked a three night trip to Prague with Victoria Costello who was amazing every step of the way! Victoria put together the perfect trip for us and took all the pressure off booking flights and hotel and even booked us transfers to and from the airport while we were there which was a huge help. I couldn't recommend Victoria enough and we will definitely be booking with her again!

Excellent service from Claire Stow

We have had a fantastic trip to Oman organised by Claire Stow. Claire organised the trip based on what we knew we wanted. She was able to give us several quotes with different options for hotel deals and choice of rooms until we got the package we were happy with. It was very easy to contact Claire on WhatsApp or email and she always responded quickly when we had questions. It was lovely to let Claire make all our arrangements and all for a reasonable price.

My husband and I have recently returned from a trip to Antarctica. Having booked the trip via a third party agent we discovered they did not provide a flight booking service. Our travel counsellor, did a great job of booking all of our flights from UK to Ushuaia, and return, with stops in Buenos Aires, at a very good price (much less than I'd been able to find myself), and despite numerous changes of flight, and even departure airport in Buenos Aires (by the airline), we were always kept up to date with the situation and were provided with all documentation within hours. She arranged all our transfers and hotels (which we were happy with apart from one, and that purely as they did not provide facilities for tea and coffee making - what I think European travellers expect nowadays). I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone planning a trip.

I have booked travel arrangements with my Travel Counsellor for about 20 years. The advisor I deal with always provides exceptional service and researches hotels that are great value for money and have excellent transport link's. Having recently returned from a holiday in Munich I was informed that the flight home was cancelled. My advisor immediately arranged another flight home. My advisor is extremely knowledgeable and her expertise is admiral.

I lost £400 with one of your so called reps! All because I wanted to move a holiday date so they said I had to cancel the holiday and lose my deposit of £400! I always go with tui but not no more! I have booked with jet2

Booked a holiday spending £18,000 for 8 of us in Disney for 2 weeks at Easter. Despite all of the assurances on the website that refunds will be issued in full within 14 days this is not the case. Misleading & scandalous. Definetely troubled times but it is for everyone and other companies are keeping to heir promises. Will never ever book with them again

“Left out travel insurance costing us €5000”

Hi, I am writing this review to warn people of the lack of service received from this company. I booked my honeymoon €5115 in January and was asked if I wanted travel insurance- extra €90- obviously I said yes for it to be added in. As time was getting closer to wedding and honeymoon I rang in July just to ask about baggage on internal flights and was asked again if I wanted travel insurance? To which j responded we got this in January. I was told no we didnt, I said yes we will take it but the lady was unable to take payment at this time. I rang back Monday and paid. Unfortunately, my dad was admitted to hospital unexpectedly at the weekend and died on the wens night/thurs morning- day before the wedding. I went through claims process to be told my insurance was taken out too late. I contacted head office in relation to phone calls being recorded, I was informed that are, I emailed the travel counsellor in relation to this, received a phonecall from head office stating “ I refused insurance at time of booking”, and basically it’s my word against travel counsellor and suddenly in Ireland only some calls recorded. Nowhere on documentation does it say I refused, terms and conditions highlight how they want customers to have travel insurance- multiple flaws in this that would take me forever to continue with. So disgusted that despite my dad passing away, this lady causing extra stress by not telling the truth, had not put through travel insurance initially and costing us full honeymoon. Really it has been a disaster, I’m awaiting phonecall from head office again this week in relation to this not an easy situation to deal with at present. Customer service disgraceful and employee negligent in her work.

I used the travel councellers a few times the last one I used was a female, what can I say awful just awful l, from start to finish her service was just diabolical, and that's when I could get hold of her. She ruined my dream holiday with just one after the other errors she made to my holiday, giving the money I spent her attitude was just disgusting when I complained , they are a Mickey Mouse outfit and they should be massively embarrassed by such an employee!

Booked an individual trip of a lifetime to Cuba part was tailor made and part of the trip was organised through a well known travel package company. The latter part of the trip was perfect unfortunately the individually sourced by travel counsellors part of the trip and went seriously wrong. We were left in Cuba to sort it out for ourselves despite contacting them there and then and our own extra cost and distress . On return a formal complaint was made and their customer service department were shocking. They denied any responsibility or recompense yet alone any customer caring . Beware ! your money or holiday is not safe with this company, they do not offer any cover or assistance as advertised . We were left out of pocket and without the holiday promised.

My son and his 2 friends were planning a 3 month holiday in America but didn’t really know where to start. A friend recommended Travel Counsellors and I can’t speak highly enough about the exceptional, personal service the advisor gave us. From a very sketchy initial outline of where they wanted to go he helped the boys to plan the trip and then booking everything for them. He listened to what they wanted and was happy to make as many changes as necessary to give them the tailor-made holiday of their dreams. His attention to detail and extensive knowledge meant that he was able to suggest things they hadn’t even contemplated and, as a result, the trip was undoubtedly a million times better than we could have organised ourselves. Before they set off he provided a comprehensive itinerary detailing every flight, hotel, transfer, park ticket, car hire, and train journey with numbered vouchers for each item. That’s not where his personal service ended though, he has helped out with a couple of unforeseen hitches along the way and has been keen to know how the holiday was going. It was incredibly reassuring to know that we could count on his help to sort things out if necessary. We are incredibly grateful to him for making our son’s trip truly the holiday of a lifetime and would have no hesitation in highly recommending him to anyone looking for more than a standard package holiday (although he does those too)!

“No clarity on costs OR charges”

Contacted them for advice/help with 2-week business multi-location trip, long haul, Business Class. After initial enquiry which went well, several weeks of silence from their end. Resumed contact. They sprang into action with suggested itinerary. Hours of my own research resulted in all but one location on their itinerary being rejected: too far to pointlessly travel away from the main route. After that I found my own hotels and booked them. All results were shunted through to TC and put into my own spreadsheet. Eventually I got an itinerary which left out one hotel (the most expensive one) and a total which was £500 higher than I had already researched, including air tickets. There would have been another £100 charge for paying them by credit card. I queried this, and the total mysteriously went down by £200, despite assurances that they can achieve great deals on hotels and airline tickets because of their great buying power. They bang on and on about your money being safe: what this means is that they will take a £4,000 deposit and not disappear with it. But to pay that £4,000 deposit by credit card they charge another £100. In essence, you will pay £100 for the guarantee that whilst you now have no contract with the credit card provider (since you are paying a 3rd party), it's ok, your money is safe with us. The final "bill" was the last straw. It was, frankly, pathetic. At that point I realised that I was dealing with someone who made up figures as they went along. I cancelled, politely, and resumed booking everything myself, thus saving £600 from the intial quotation. The only point in using this company is if you are not prepared to do any internet research yourself, are prepared to pay massive credit card charges, and want some mysterious confirmation that they will be there to help you 24/7 should need arise on your trip. Since I could hardly ever get hold of the TC in person, I even doubted that.

Having used Travel Counsellors in the past without any issue and a great experience i have in the last 6 weeks been totally ignored, no response to emails to plan and book a 3 week multi-stop holiday not even an email to say thank you for getting in touch! Either they no longer want repeat / returning business or the staff that made the company have all left and now no one cares! Can't describe how disappointed me and my wife are. we will no longer use them and will go elsewhere!

Did you call the Travel Counsellor at all? Maybe your email went awol? A quick phone call would easily have resolved the matter. I'm not defending Travel Counsellors as I work for a rival company, but the matter could have easily been resovled with a quick call.

Our Travel Counsellor has booked our cruise holidays for many years. A first class Cruise Specialist there is nothing she doesn't know about cruise holidays. Nothing is too much trouble and with her wealth of knowledge and experience we can sit back knowing our cruise will be planned to perfection. Everything is professionally and expertly managed and we are always made to feel special and as if our holiday is the most important thing in the world. We would never book our cruises with anyone but Travel Counsellors and we recommend them to all our clients and friends. Oh.....and their prices are excellent!

I am very disappointed with Travel Counsellors. We were booked to go to Portugal and 2 days before departure they told us it was overbooked. We were give the choice of cancellation or going to other accomodation which we accepted. The alternative accomodation was very poor with broken lifts, unclean rooms, broken parasols, broken tables and much more. Now they are refusing to offer us any compensation. A bad experience - dont ever book with Travel Counsellors.

My Travel Counsellor is classed now as a family friend and if you want to book any personal holidays or travel I would STRONGLY recommend contacting her what she doesn’t know and hasn’t experienced about holidays, resorts, and travel in general isn’t probably worth knowing. Just give her your dates and requirements and she will find you the perfect holiday, and always at the best price, efficiently and professionally managed and booked. I wouldn’t book a holiday any other way and my holidays booked through my Travel Counsellor as they have been perfect!

I have booked holidays with Travel Counsellors on two occasions and have been provided with an excellent and very personalised service. I first discovered Travel Counsellors at a wedding fair and I am so glad I did! My husband and I were quite vague about what we wanted to do for honeymoon and my Travel Counsellor, Joanne Kemp, went to so much effort suggesting ideas for destinations and resorts of which she was very knowledgeable. We finally settled on The Maldives and Jo took care of every last detail from booking seats on the flight, arranging lounge passes at the airport and even sending us a guide book! Having had such a great experience last year I contacted Jo again to arrange a city break to New York this year and once again a fabulous service from the start! What sets Travel Counsellors apart is the outstanding customer service they offer, and that it doesn't end after booking! Jo is always on the end of the telephone to answer any questions and in the run up to my city break she has often emailed with ideas of places to visit, helping us to plan our trip. All of these personal touches really do make a difference and makes booking a holiday a very easy and pleasant experience. The cost of both of the holidays with Travel Counsellors were no more expensive than booking through other well know high street or internet travel agents - Travel Counsellors offer this level of customer service as standard!! I would not hesitate to book through Travel Counsellors again in the future and I always recommend them to my family and friends!!

Recently we booked our holiday with Leighann and from start to finish she was nothing but fantastic. Her whole service was always with a smile. Nothing was a problem l left her a huge list of things l would like to do and my budget and that very night she came back to myself and my wife with the dream holiday. We cannot thank her enough nor can we recommend her and Travel Counsellors enough to all our friends and family. We will definately be coming back to her for ever more. She is now not just our own personal travel counsellor but a very good friend.

Our travel counsellor always has spent time chatting to us and knows exactly what we like in a holiday or trip. We are always treated personally and genuinely feel that she would do anything to ensure we have a wonderful time - every time! ~ I leave my 'Thoughts' with her and she comes back with suggestions and itineraries - Wonderful! You do not get that from the internet or when you sit for hours in a high street shop! Paperwork is always efficient - and again personal - wouldn't go anywhere else now!

Our experience with Travel Counsellors... Where do I start? - Started process... 1st counsellor disappeared, turned out he left company. Were told weeks later by letter. - His prices were useless, too high. Dream hotel was out of budget. Found out cheaper deal - 2nd counsellor managed to find same deal £500 cheaper, which sounded good at first, but we realised we could've paid more for the same thing with the 1st guy. In the end however she was a really rude and unco-operative person. - Also realised she could've gotten us dream hotel within budget. Could've done, but by then it was fully booked. - Wanted a hotel in centre of the city, they booked one 20 mins outside. - Tried to make payment online via site, failed twice. When I told counsellor about it, she told me I should've paid by phone (even though the payment letter said either by phone or online). - Customer services also rude, putting up a massive fight - it's like they have no contingency if something DOES go wrong and can't believe that anything can go wrong. - Only compensated me when I threatened cancellation (which would've meant I lost money overall) - obviously don't care about you unless you risk being unprofitable. - Honeymoon contribution wasn't worth it either, turns out there's a charge, which TC profit from (as if profiting from the holiday isn't enough) so many guests just gave us cash and cheques instead. - Oh and after the closing date, no info of getting the honeymoon site anywhere. Had to ask counsellor, who had to call me 3 times to get the correct bank details from me in the end. My advice? AVOID! We had a great honeymoon but they nearly ruined it for us. They're utterly, utterly useless, over-priced and rude.

Gave the agents plenty of notice of what I wanted, they came back with a great fare and told me what he needed for me to pay tc etc. Sounded Great. Agent then disappeared, would not answer emails and the bargain mysteriously vanished. We have ended up £700 out of pocket for the same trip from a different agent. Would not go near them again. I advise caution - this may have just been a bad egg, but enough of a one for me not to consider them again.

It is amazing that you finally find a company who offers the most amazing customer service and I don't feel like all they want it my money. I always book through Travel counsellors, they are always there when you need then offer impartial and fantastic advise and source out the best deal as they are independent. Any travel plans I have from car parking, theatre break, my family holiday or my business trips I will always use Travel Counsellors Everyone should have their own Travel Counsellor, that is my advise for the day!

I'm looking to book with him and like the others say, he is really getting to know our requirements and coming out with some great ideas...

They are a company that use homeworkers, so not a walk in travel agency. It is a franchise and many of the Travel Counsellors will have worked for major travel gents, but now prefer to work from home. All above board and legit.
