Darren Hayes announces massive UK tour to mark Savage Garden's 25th anniversary

The former Savage Garden frontman will celebrate his old band's anniversary on his upcoming tour.

Darren Hayes's career went from strength to strength since Savage Garden split way back in 2001, but his fans always had a soft spot for his former duo with producer Daniel Jones.

The group scored massive hits in the 1990s with songs including 'To the Moon and Back', 'Truly Madly Deeply', 'Affirmation', 'I Want You' 'The Animal Song' and 'I Knew I Loved You'.

After winning success as a solo star with a clutch of albums, Hayes has been on break for the past ten years, instead focusing on a career in stand-up, sketch comedy and podcasts.

He returned to music in January 2022 with the single 'Let's Try Being in Love', following it up with the songs 'Do You Remember' and 'Poison Blood'.

Hayes still clearly has plenty of affection for his former partnership, as he's dedicating his 2023 UK tour to the 25th anniversary of Savage Garden.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Thursday, June 30 at 9am.

"You never know how much you love something until it's taken away from you," Hayes said.

"After almost a decade out of the spotlight and all this time in lockdown I found myself really missing the electric feeling that only a live audience can bring."

He added: "After 25 years in the music industry, I feel like we've grown up together.

"To sing these songs again after all we've been through is going to feel like a family reunion. I'm beyond excited to return."

As one half of Savage Garden - one of the biggest pop acts of the nineties, both in their native Australia and around the globe - there’s no real question that Darren Hayes knows all about commercial success; the band’s self-titled album went to number one around the world in 1997, spawning the massively successful singles ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ and ‘To the Moon and Back’ and putting Hayes’ firmly on the map as a singer-songwriter of quite prodigious talent. All of that isn’t to say, though, that Hayes is in the music business just for all of the trappings he enjoyed during his Savage Garden heyday; he’s one of those songwriters who seems compelled to release material for no other reason than his own catharsis, and since the dissolution of the group in 2001, he’s continued to write and record, putting out five albums since, with the most recent, Secret Codes and Battleships, making the top ten in Australia and top thirty in the UK. He continues to play live, too, and in recent years has begun to make a habit - well, every other year, at least - of playing exclusive, intimate live shows on New Year’s Eve here in the UK. One such gig came on December 31st, 2011, when he delivered a stirring, sold-out set to a feverish crowd that saw him drop Savage Garden classics and choice solo cuts whilst backed by a full band.

Darren Hayes Announces Savage Garden Hits Tour

Hayes returns to the live stage for the first time in over a decade.

One-time Savage Garden   frontman and king of this year's Mardi Gras Darren Hayes has announced his first Australian tour in over a decade today with six big dates around Australia. 

Titled 'Do You Remember - 25 Years of Savage Garden, Solo Hits & More', the shows will be an amazing nostalgia trip through the Brisbane band's biggest hits including To The Moon & Back , Truly Madly Deeply , I Knew I Loved You , I Want You and so many more. Hayes will also break out his lesser hit, but equally banging solo material including Pop!ular and Insatiable . 

Easily one of the country's most decorated artists of all time, since the world first uttered 'chicka cherry cola' Savage Garden and Hayes have clocked up 30 million albums sold globally, 2x chart-topping singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, 14x ARIA Awards, 10x APRA songwriting awards, 5x Top 10 albums and 9x Top 10 singles.

Darren Hayes , one of the greatest singer-songwriter/performers this country has ever produced, will return to Australian stages for the first time in over a decade in January/February 2023 with his ‘ Do You Remember?’ Tour – 25 Years of Savage Garden, Solo Hits And More! The six-city national tour will showcase Darren’s extraordinary catalogue of smash hits, which span a remarkable four decades.

Darren’s return to the stage is sure to remind Australian audiences that this national treasure is not only a prolific hitmaker, but also a consummate performer. With a setlist honouring a quarter-century of hits, Darren will perform a mix of classic fan favourites and new solo material and celebrate the 25th anniversary of Savage Garden’s chart-topping, self-titled debut album in a pop show specifically designed to bring crowds to their feet.

The ‘Do You Remember?’ Tour production was created by U2’s legendary show director Willie Williams and will see Darren reuniting with members of his original touring band from 1996.

Fans will embark on a journey from the first time they ever heard the phrase “Chica Cherry Cola” all the way through to the present day. And Darren promises to deliver the perfect mix of nostalgia and modernity, performing his songs with the emotional depth and theatricality they so richly deserve.

Joining Darren on the tour will be the one and only Bachelor Girl .

The HYMN World Tour is coming to Crocus City Hall in the exciting city of Moscow, Russia on October 29th!

Moscow is also home to the Moscow Kremlin, a fortified complex in the center of the city overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west. It is the best known of the Russian citadels and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers.
