As I meandered through its crowded streets, lined with colonial-era buildings, I couldn’t help but feel like I was in an old-fashioned English village. My favourite part of the Kasauli trip was the Christ Church – a magnificent structure, hot coffee in cold weather and a quiet and peaceful walk along the Gilbert Trail. Indeed Kasauli’s peaceful ambience and unhurried pace will always stay in my memory forever. And always gonna be must-visit tourist places near Chandigarh on weekends. My first stop in Solan was the Shoolini Temple, Next on my list was the Jatoli Shiv Temple, which sits on a hilltop. Furthermore, the temple offered a bird’s eye view of Solan and the surrounding hills. One of the highlights of my trip to this hill station was a picnic by the creek. Finally, I spend my evening in  Mohan Park, a perfect spot for capturing the sunset. 

And I set off on my road trip towards Barog, a small but scenic hill station. yet another terrific spot for a one-day trip from Chandigarh, and must-visit tourist places near Chandigarh on weekends. Definitely, it’s the best Hill Station near Chandigarh for a one-day trip .

A peculiar fact behind the name of the place is that it was named so because a number of people working in CBRE died whilst trying to cross this treacherous stretch. Owing to its splendid natural beauty, Rohtang Pass is a favourite among the community of film directors. Many blockbusters ranging from 'Jab We Met' to 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' have been shot here.  In order to travel up to or beyond Rohtang, a mandatory Rohtang Pass permit is required by all visitors. You will need to show a confirmation voucher or a proof of hotel booking at one of your destinations. The pass costs INR 500 per head with an additional INR 50 which is charged as a congestion fee that is imposed by the National Green Tribunal on all the vehicles that travel here. The permits are also of two kinds, one is for up to Rohtang Pass only while the other is for travelling beyond this point. Online permit for travelling to Rohtang is available and can be booked here . In case you want to book your permits offline, you can do so on a first-come-first-serve basis from the Tourist and Information centre on all days from 10:00 AM  to 8:00 PM. You can either take a four wheeler or bike your way to the pass as well.
