Right around the turn of the millennium, compact discs went from the main source of listening to music, to almost obsolete.

They took a tumble from the top, but two decades on, CDs – and portable CD players – are clawing their way to an unlikely comeback among a growing niche of listeners, much like vinyls have done. Younger fans who were raised on streaming and digital are discovering how much better their favorite albums sound when played off a physical disc, and older fans are eager to dust off their collection of discs to try out in new players.

But these aren’t just clones of the same CD players from 20 years ago though. Thanks to the vast improvements, the best portable CD players have integrated new tech to fix some of the problems of the past.

One of the biggest was skipping, which wasn’t only irritating, but also incredibly limiting too, always having to make sure you were keeping the player steady and from getting knocked around. Taking your favorite tunes around with you didn’t mean much if the disc was being jostled with every step or bump in the road. Many of today’s CD players have found remedies and workarounds for this, so you can freely move about or drive over potholes without missing a beat. New players actually read the disc data faster than you’re listening to it by buffering it, then committing a little of the song ahead to RAM memory. Once it’s in there, the disc can even stop spinning entirely while your song is intact and uninterrupted.

Bluetooth is another feature to welcome CD players back into the new era. Wired connections can also be done with an AUX hookup, and are especially great for the car, bringing better-sounding playlists than streaming into your long drives.

Another area where these are beneficial is airplanes. When internet and phone service isn’t available or allowed, and you’ll be stuck in the same spot for hours, a CD player can really come in handy – especially with audiobooks on disc.

When portable music players come to mind, it’s hard not to think of the Sony Walkman.

This is what started it all, back in 1979, with the invention of the portable cassette player, eventually evolving in the CD-playing “DiscMan” (which, then confusingly, was renamed back to the Walkman).

Bells and whistles are at a minimum here. There’s no remote, no Bluetooth, and no USB connection. It still takes AA batteries, and really hasn’t changed much since the last time you actually bought a CD.

But when it comes to the sound quality itself, it’s hard to beat this classic. And this kit, complete with earphones and car adapters, keeps your CD collection alive, whether it’s an old classic or one you burned yourself.

Many of the once high-end features on CD players are now available at budget-friendly prices. CD players and their spinning disks are vulnerable to the negative effects of sudden movement, which poses a real problem for those who want to take their CDs with them jogging or to the gym. It also has a rubberized exterior which makes it easier to hold with sweaty hands.

Additionally, the GPX PC807BMP3U comes with earbuds and can use either AA batteries or a 12V car adapter for power. Unfortunately, there is no “last memory” function, nor is there a built-in radio, and customers report units arriving DOA. Fortunately, GPX offers a 90-day warranty to cover manufacturing defects and DOA CD players. 

What to Look for in a Portable CD Player

Rechargeable batteries.

One key differentiating factor for CD players is how they get their power to function. The early portable CD players used DC adapters (requiring you to be tethered to a wall) or AA batteries (for listening on the go). Many CD players still use interchangeable batteries, but an upgrade feature is the presence of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

MP3 Playability

Most modern CD players can play CDs with MP3s as stored files rather than traditionally formatted playback CDs. While many portable players feature this option by default, not all do.

Modern Features

Portable devices have come a long way, in general. CD players now incorporate a variety of modern functions like backlit displays, onboard speakers to bypass the need for separate headphones/speakers, and Bluetooth connectivity. Opting for a CD player with these functions will add more bang for your buck.

MP3-compatible players can store MP3s as files onto a disc and have your player read/play those files back on the go—just like a thumb drive on a laptop.

While some modern portable CD players come with built-in speaker modules for playback without any accessories, the default is that you need to plug speakers or headphones into CD players via the auxiliary (AUX) output. Look for a CD player with built-in speakers if you'd prefer all-in-one playback.

Because CD players use infrared lasers to read the etchings in a CD, jostling the device can cause that skipping. Luckily, most modern CD players offer solid 100-second skip protection. Skipping can still happen, but this safeguard will make the CD player largely listenable even with light workouts. A lower second count on the skip protection will yield less reliability during more vigorous activities.

Who needs streaming and randomised playlists? For some, nothing can beat putting on a CD and listening to a great album in full, and the best CD players allow you to enjoy that musical journey to the max.

While online streaming undoubtedly has the convenience factor compared to physical media, many of us still prefer owning a physical object – something that digital files can't replicate. CD players haven't quite increased in demand in the way turntables have, but there are manufacturers who still produce dedicated disc spinners (at both budget and high-end prices) for CD fans and audiophiles alike.

CDs are also enjoying a resurgence for the first time in over 15 years. According to data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), CD sales rose by 11 per cent to $537 million in 2023 . It's still shy of the billion discs sold in 2000, and vinyl (and streaming of course) currently outstrip CD sales by far, but it's nice to know that those of us who never replaced our disc collection aren't alone.

A slimline, no-frills CD player that’s more than listenable at this budget price.

The latest in a long line of excellent Marantz CD players, the CD6007 might look familiar but it still sounds superb.

One of the best digital source components around, the Marantz SA-10 is built like a tank and the way it sounds will blow you away.

Much more than just a CD player, this brilliant just-add-speakers system can also stream from a variety of sources. 

If you already own a decent DAC, the Cambridge Audio CXC is a well-built CD transport that sounds absolutely brilliant.

I have been testing and reviewing at What Hi-Fi? for over 10 years, including CD players. It may not be as popular or an abundant category in recent years, but many hi-fi brands are still manufacturing CD players with regularity for audiophiles and those of us who never managed to let go of our CD (and SACD) collections. When testing CD players, it is important to assess the build quality and the disc loading mechanism to ensure they're sturdy, and check it has the connectivity you require in your system. Of course, we also test how good the sound quality is for the money. I've listened to and tested the players on this list and every recommendation fits this brief – so you can be assured you're getting the best advice.

There hasn’t been a seriously good, seriously capable, and seriously fun CD player of this level in a very long time. The newly crowned Arcam CD5 changes things. It's a tremendously talented player that deserves an audition if you’re still holding on to your beloved CDs and want to give them a new lease of life.

It's a great mid-range entry and does one thing well – playing CDs with finesse. There's composure and fluidity to the music that has us hooked from the start, with a nimble and snappy sense of rhythm that keeps our toes tapping without ever over-analysing the wealth of detail it retrieves. Deep basslines are delivered with a satisfying mix of solidity and muscle, while the CD5 deals with shifting dynamics with ease and subtlety – it takes us through the emotional rollercoaster with songs while keeping an even balance across the frequencies. 

The CD5 looks smart and is built to a pleasingly high level, and while the player's menus could be more intuitive to access, the display is large enough to read and the player itself is easy to use.

If you're looking for a greater level of clarity and refinement than what this excellent CD player offers, then you’ll have to spend more than double the money on the likes of the top-notch, Award-winning Cyrus CDi . As a new entrant into a category that isn't flourishing as it once used to, the Arcam CD5 is a solid buy for any CD fan.

The best budget CD player

2. Cambridge Audio AXC35

The AX Series is Cambridge Audio’s most affordable range of separates, and while the AXC35 makes a couple of compromises to keep the price down, there are still plenty of reasons to recommend it.

For starters there’s the classy, understated design. The front panel is uncluttered, with just six buttons and a simple LED display under the disc drive, while the slimline build of the chassis gives it a contemporary feel and makes it look much more expensive than it is. The minimalist vibe carries through to the remote, which is perfectly functional but feels like an exercise in corner-cutting. Connections are also limited to just line outputs and a coax digital output – there’s no USB or optical here.

What it lacks in features, though, it makes up for with its very listenable performance that isn’t afraid to go big. The ACX35 is dynamically adept across the frequencies, keeping its cool with faster time signatures and delivering a sparkling, percussive rhythm through the treble. Instruments are easily distinguishable alongside textured voices in the mid-range. 

At this price, it’s a perfectly capable player, but if you’re really counting the pennies the NAD C 538 is an even cheaper alternative.

The best mid-range CD player

3. Marantz CD6007

The Marantz CD6000 series has been a winning option for many years, in various versions, and while the CD6007 is business as usual on the outside (with typically excellent build quality, we're happy to report), it's on the inside where Marantz has made big improvements.

For starters, the CD6007 has a quieter power supply and improved HDAM amplifier modules. These are helped by a sprinkling of higher quality internal components, not least of which is the change of DAC chip to an AKM 4490. That chip allows the CD6007 to process high-resolution files through USB-A on the front socket, supporting PCM music up to 24-bit/192kHz and  DSD128 .

What does all that mean? Great sound. It's full of rhythm and drive. It's precise, clean and delivers dynamics at every inch of the spectrum. Stereo imaging is focused yet expansive, and there are even a few digital filters to tweak the sound to your tastes.

Owners of the CD6006 needn't rush to change their player, but the CD6007 is most definitely an excellent choice for first-time buyers at this end of the market.

The best premium CD player

4. Marantz SA-10

When Marantz launches a new premium CD spinner it tends to be worth paying attention – and six years after it was originally reviewed, this premium SA-10 still performs just as brilliantly as when it was first released.

Weighing in at 18kg, it’s pretty clear it means business before you even open the box, and that feeling of authority continues with the impressive casework. It’s immensely rigid, well damped and superbly finished, with buttons that are satisfying to press and a disc drawer that glides in and out with grace. Even the remote feels luxurious.

The sound is also suitably refined, with a wonderfully clean presentation, smooth tonality, and a stunning amount of detail that’s organized with care and composure. There’s plenty in the way of scale and authority, but it never sounds cluttered or stressed, and stereo imaging is also impressive.

Those who like to tweak will welcome the ability to adjust the amount of dither added to the signal during digital-to-analogue conversion, alter the type of noise shaping applied, and change the digital filter used, plus there are a wealth of connectivity options around the back, including balanced XLRs and USB.

It all adds up to yet another Marantz CD player that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding connoisseurs.

The best CD streaming system

5. Technics SA-C600

The Technics SA-C600 is an elegant all-in-one system with built-in amplifier, extensive streaming and connectivity (even an MM phono stage) that you just have to add speakers to – and it also has a talented CD player.

We like the tactility of the swivelling transparent CD cover on the top; it’s made of toughened acrylic and feels good to use. The SA-C600 proves an admirably consistent performer across the board, producing musically compelling results with CD as well as high-res files across our network. 

It’s an expressive and punchy performer that builds its performance around a solid framework of surefooted rhythmic drive and expressive dynamics. Details levels are good, but it is the confident way this unit organises that information into a cohesive and musical whole that really impresses.

If all you're after is a CD player, then you might want to choose something more dedicated in this list that puts all its eggs in the audio basket. But if versatility is required and you want to stream your music services over wi-fi as well as spin records - and why not - then this Technics is worth your attention.

The best budget CD transport

6. Cambridge Audio CXC

The Cambridge Audio CXC is a transport, meaning you'll have to supply your own DAC, but with many amplifiers and active speakers now having a DAC built in, this could be an efficient way of adding a disc-spinner into your system.

This Cambridge CD transport simply reads the data using its single-speed transport and S3 Servo, and using this separate bit of kit to do one specific job makes for better sound quality. There’s a real musicality here that can get lost on lesser players, with an organic, fluid interplay between instruments. It's punchy and agile, with ample detail retrieved in the wide, spacious soundstage. There's a good rhythm to songs, although we wouldn't mind a tad more subtlety to the detail and dynamic contrast. Paired with the CXA61 amplifier, the CXC delivers an enjoyable, friendly presentation.

It's a nicely made bit of kit too, with a machined metal chassis that feels solid and a design that matches the rest of Cambridge's impressive CX range.

If you already own an external DAC (or there is a good-quality DAC integrated in your system) we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Cambridge CXC over a standalone CD player at this price. You’d have to spend a good deal more – leap up towards the Arcam CD5, for instance – to better the sound quality it offers.

Cyrus CDi : This long-running CD player has won a What Hi-Fi? Best Buy Award for ten years in a row – such is its talent that no other player has come close to toppling it from its perch. Its looks are dated and the disc loading mechanism whirrs noisily, but this half-width chassis player times brilliantly. Songs are relayed with a high level of detail and clarity, with an agility and accuracy to notes and rhythm that are undeniably exciting and faithful. Engaging dynamics and a neutral balance further cement this Cyrus player's legacy and unerring ability to play CDs with utmost talent.

TEAC VRDS-701 : This premium TEAC player needs a similarly capable and partnering system to match, but give it the care it needs and it will deliver a stunningly authoritative sound. It is terrifically detailed, composed and controlled, and sounds as musical as it is informative. It's brilliantly engineered, too, with TEAC's proprietary VRDS transport mechanism that allows the disc to be read more accurately, and a build quality that's sturdy and long-lasting.

How to choose the best CD player for you

What should you consider before purchasing a CD player? It's worth taking into account factors like DAC functionality, ease of use, controls and of course audio performance when making your choice.

More premium players will have better DAC chips and internal components, fewer errors and also support different optical disc formats (SACD alongside standard CD, CD-R, CD-RW, for instance). Some CD players even pack in wireless and streaming tech to turn your CD player into an all-in-one media hub, and include a USB port so you can play 24-bit high-resolution files. It's up to you whether you want the extra features (which can be more expensive) or stick with a solid disc spinner that will do the job well.

The other thing to consider is if you need an integrated CD player (one with a DAC built-in) or a CD transport (no DAC inside). Transports such as the Cambridge Audio CXC will need to use either a standalone DAC or the one in your stereo amplifier to handle the digital-to-analogue conversion before the sound reaches your speakers . The upshot of a CD transport? It puts all its concentration and skills on reading the CD disc. The downside is you'll need to make sure you buy or already have an appropriately skilled DAC to connect it to.

Or you can simply pick the player that's most closely aligned with your budget, system and preferred functionality. Do you prefer slot-loading or a disc tray? Does it have a display that can be read easily at a distance? Do you need Bluetooth, or do you have a large collection of SACDs that needs some love? Remember to set your budget according to the demands of the rest of your system.

Accordingly, we compare all products we review against similarly-priced class leaders to help us settle on the most accurate rating.

Are older CD players better than new ones?

This depends on the build quality and reputation of that original CD player. An older CD player that was built and engineered carefully will likely perform better than any cheaply-made player, although there is more chance of something not working if the player hasn't been used regularly or in a very long while. Any old player would benefit from servicing, while newer models tend to be in tip-top working order, and come with newer, more technically capable DACs.

While the CD technology hasn't changed drastically over the decades, some manufacturers use their own proprietary technology and mechanisms that are designed to read the CD disc more accurately (and therefore result in better sound overall). More premium or high-end players that are built to this high standard can last longer than cheaply made options (both old and new), where you might find issues with the disc-loading mechanism or errors in the laser that reads the disc or the laser mechanism simply stops working.

Are CD players being phased out?

The advent of streaming and digital music files has meant that CD's popularity has nose-dived in the last couple of decades, and that decrease of demand has meant that fewer CD players are being manufactured compared to its hey-day in the '80s and '90s. We imagine plenty of you went ahead and ripped your CDs into WAV or FLAC files to create a more efficient, space-saving system; but there are still plenty of us that held on to our physical CD collection, and musicians today are still bringing out CDs of new albums (alongside vinyl records).

While CD player production isn't as widespread as before, many hi-fi companies (such as Marantz, Cambridge Audio, Arcam, Naim, TEAC and more) are still manufacturing CD players to cater to audiophiles and music fans to whom CDs (and even SACDs) are still one of their main ways of listening to music.

• Sclafonz I paid $600 for a Marantz CD player and after 9 years it stopped reading CDs. The USB input still works great. I didn't expect the CD player to last forever, but at least 10 years. I didn't abuse it either. Once it was set up it never moved. It really wasn't used that often. A few times a week. I tried cleaning the laser, but no luck. Based on this experience I wouldn't buy a Marantz CD player. Perhaps it was just my unit and not a design flaw, but I wouldn't take the chance. Reply

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2. The virus spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets and small particles produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. The virus spreads easily in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor settings.

People with COVID-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms   – ranging from no or mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2–14 days after exposure to the virus. Possible symptoms include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, new loss of taste and smell, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Anyone can get COVID-19. However, some people are more likely than others to get very sick if they get COVID-19. These include people who are older, are  immunocompromised , or have certain  disabilities , or have  underlying health conditions .  Vaccination, past infection, and timely access to testing and treatment can help protect you from getting very sick from COVID-19.

Yes, you can travel once you have ended isolation . Check CDC guidance for additional precautions, including testing and wearing a mask around others. If you recently had COVID-19 and are recommended to wear a mask, do not travel on public transportation such as airplanes, buses, and trains if you are unable to wear a mask whenever around others.

Get  up to date  with your COVID-19 vaccines before you travel and take steps to protect yourself and others . Consider wearing a mask in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor areas, including on public transportation and in transportation hubs. Take additional precautions if you were recently exposed to a person with COVID-19. Don’t travel while sick.

If you have a  weakened immune system  or  are at increased risk for severe disease talk to a healthcare professional before you decide to travel.  If you travel, take multiple prevention steps to provide additional layers of protection from COVID-19, even if you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines. These include improving ventilation and spending more time outdoors, avoiding sick people, getting tested for COVID-19 if you develop symptoms, staying home if you have or think you have COVID-19, and seeking treatment if you have COVID-19.

Consider getting travel insurance in case you need medical care abroad .

Consider getting a COVID-19 test if you:

• Develop COVID-19 symptoms before, during, or after travel.
• Will be traveling to visit someone who is at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19.
• Were in a situation with a greater risk of exposure during travel (e.g., in an indoor, crowded space like an airport terminal while not wearing a mask).

If you traveled and feel sick, particularly if you have a fever, talk to a healthcare professional, and tell them about your recent travel.

Moscow Throws Putin Fanboy Scott Ritter Under the Bus

Former U.N. weapons inspector turned sex offender Scott Ritter has made a name for himself parroting Kremlin propaganda about the war against Ukraine.

But if he was hoping Moscow would back him up after he says he was barred from traveling to Russia because Washington is “afraid” of him appearing at a St. Petersburg economic forum, he was apparently sadly mistaken.

While Ritter and his supporters—including Russian media—have played up the notion that his passport was seized because he has the U.S. administration shaking in their boots, the Kremlin did not share in this hysteria.

Asked about the scandal Tuesday, Vladimir Putin ’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov played down Ritter’s claims. He told reporters the “details” about the situation were not clear and that there was nothing unusual about a former intelligence officer facing certain travel restrictions.

“This is practiced in almost all countries in relation to former intelligence officers,” he said.

He added, however, that if Ritter truly was thrown off the flight to stop him speaking in Russia then it was part of a “frenzied campaign to prevent U.S. citizens from establishing at least some contacts with Russia.”

Ritter famously visited Chechnya in January and delivered a pep talk in broken Russian to thousands of troops who’ve been waging war in Ukraine, so he’s already had plenty of “contacts” apparently even with Russian leaders sanctioned by the West.

The State Department has declined to comment on the “status” of Ritter’s passport. Ritter, who was convicted in an underage online sex sting in 2011, told Kremlin-controlled media on Monday that he was pulled off a flight on his way to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he was slated to speak.

“They took my passport. When asked why, they said ‘orders of the State Department,’” he told RT, later claiming that the real “purpose” of the move was to deprive Russia of his presence.

“They stuck it to the Russians,” he claimed.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday that there’s nothing Moscow can do to help Ritter.

“He’s not a Russian citizen,” he said.

Donald Trump is the first former president convicted of a crime and now he could be the first one sent to jail or prison.

Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, opening up the possibility that he could be incarcerated .

Not only is Trump the first former president be convicted of a crime, he is also the presumptive Republican nominee lined up for a likely rematch with President Joe Biden in November.

Even though jail time is on the table for his conviction, he is expected to appeal the jury's decision. Legal experts told USA TODAY any jail or prison sentence likely won't take effect until after his appeal plays out, pushing it past the November election.

Can Trump go to prison?

Yes. Each felony count of falsifying business records − elevated to a felony because prosecutors proved the purpose was to commit or conceal another crime − carries a maximum sentence of four years. However, New York caps such sentencing the type of felonies Trump faced – Class E felonies –  at 20 years .

Some New York litigators and legal experts told USA TODAY that Trump is likely to face only probation.

"With a defendant who has no prior criminal record, my absolute expectation would be a sentence of probation," Mitchell Epner, a New York litigator with decades of experience, said ahead of the trial.

Others said jail or prison time is very much on the table, but likely under four years and potentially limited to months.

Norman Eisen, a Brookings Institution senior fellow who served as special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during Trump's first impeachment, co-authored a report looking at sentencing for other defendants with no criminal history who were convicted of falsifying business records in New York.

Eisen noted one construction executive was sentenced in 2015 to spend two days per week in jail for a year for falsifying records to hide payments in a bribery scheme. In 2013, two corporate executives were sentenced to between four and six months of jail time for falsifying records to misclassify their salaries as expenses under their employer's larger bribery and fraud scheme.

"This is a case that does not involve any physical violence, and it doesn't – there's not sort of a 'named victim,' so to speak – and so the court is going to take that into consideration," Anna Cominsky, who directs the Criminal Defense Clinic at New York Law School, told USA TODAY.

Cominsky added, however, that it will "be very dependent on – and also very interesting to see – what the prosecutor asks for."

At a press conference following the verdict, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg declined to preview what he will recommend to the judge.

When will Trump be sentenced?

Judge Juan Merchan will issue Trump's sentence in a July 11 hearing. Merchan instructed Trump's defense team to file any post-conviction motions by June 13, and told the prosecution to respond by June 27. Those filings could include arguments from both sides about Trump's sentence.

Defendants are sometimes "remanded" pending sentencing, or kept in custody while they wait for their sentence.

But legal experts told USA TODAY that is unlikely in this case.

Can Trump bring the Secret Service to jail?

Even before the conviction, logistical questions about Trump going to jail came up when he repeatedly violated a gag order restricting his public comments on witnesses and jurors.

Among those questions is how the Secret Service will continue to work with Trump. He receives around-the-clock protection as a former president, which no judge has previously had to consider in a sentencing.

"If I were the judge − and I don't know what a judge would do in this case − I would reject out of hand the concept that because he was once president, and because as a matter of policy the Secret Service guards former presidents, that therefore he can't go to jail," said John Moscow, a New York lawyer who spent 30 years in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Moscow told USA TODAY ahead of the trial that the judge could get creative – for example, order the former president to stay in a hotel wing or military base.

Merchan previously threatened to jail Trump if he continued to violate a gag order in the case, even as the judge acknowledged concerns about Trump's Secret Service protection.

"There are many reasons why incarceration is truly a last resort," Merchan said on May 6 of the trial . While he said he didn't want to jail Trump over the gag order, he would "if necessary and appropriate."

Trump suggested he would have bombed Moscow for invading Ukraine, WP reports

Former U.S. President Donald Trump suggested at a fundraising event that he would have bombed Moscow in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Washington Post (WP) reported on May 28, citing several anonymous donors and advisers.

In a piece detailing some of the claims and demands the former U.S. president has made while on a fundraising drive for his current presidential bid, the paper also said he would attack Beijing if China invaded Taiwan on his watch.

According to WP, Trump's comments "surprised some of the donors."

Trump has not publicly threatened to bomb Moscow but, in a phone call leaked in March 2022, Trump told a friend he had privately made such a threat to Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.

Publicly, Trump described Putin as a " genius " in the days leading up to Russia's full-scale invasion when Moscow moved troops into eastern Ukraine.

He has also regularly claimed he could stop the war in Ukraine "in 24 hours" though he has never publicly stated how he would do this.

The Washington Post wrote on April 7, citing anonymous sources, that Trump had privately said he could end it by pressuring Ukraine to cede Crimea and Donbas to Moscow.

According to the Washington Post, Trump also said he believes that both Moscow and Kyiv "want to save face, they want a way out," claiming that Ukrainians in Russian-occupied territories would not object to being part of Russia ."

If the deal and the idea is simply to give our territories, then it is very primitive," President Volodymyr Zelensky said in response.

Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 U.S. presidential election, going up against incumbent President Joe Biden .

In a bid to raise the gigantic sums necessary to run a presidential campaign, WP also reports Trump as telling both new and regular donors they would have to significantly increase what they're offering.

One businessman who usually gave Republicans $2-3 million would have to give a $25 million or $50 million contribution or he would not be "very happy."

Throughout Vivid, guests will enjoy delicious plates inspired by the colour, creativity and energy of Vivid with its set menu priced at $125 per person. Some of the menu’s highlights include lightly cured kingfish with cultured cream, pomelo and verde cavatelli or the O’Connor tenderloin with unearthed mushrooms and kampot pepper sauce.

But make sure to leave room for dessert, which has been dubbed a “creative highlight” of the hotel’s menu.

The Valrhona 80 per cent komontu chocolate pudding with warm chocolate mousse was an absolute favourite for most. But guests cannot go past the Crimson Spin — a visual masterpiece on a plate embracing Vivid’s ‘Humanity’ theme. The dessert engages Leonardo da Vinci’s helicopter drawings and Damien Hirst’s spin paintings.

It really is a dessert to be hold — with flavours to match.

Sitting between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the location of the Park Hyatt is perhaps the best location possible during the event.
