Wonderful Egypt

Just recently returned from Egypt with the Travel Department.Wonderful and educational experience in every way! The highlight for Alma and me was our exceptional guide MINA - as a Egyptoligist and experienced excavation expert his knowledge was immense- however he didn't overload which was very clever. His brilliant personality and caring demeanour and kindness made him very special! If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide you will have a very special Egyptian experience!

Kept me informed regularly with all the relevant information, itenary and confirmation of payment and receipts. Was met on arrival before baggage collection by a Travel Dept rep. The whole holiday was well planned with a great guide Dodi who speaks English very well and knows the history of Egypt inside out and well presented with a bit of humour thrown in to make it interesting even more. Highly recommended.

Wen recently had the pleasure of a return trip to Egypt with the The Travel Dept. On our arrival in Cairo we were introduced to our guide whom we called 'Dodi' for ease of older brains, and he took great care of all the group from our arrival to our departure 12 days later. His knowledge and familiarity with the sites and history of ancient Egypt was superb and most important not over the top. He hit the right balance to allow us retain great memories of the wonders and history of ancient Egypt. I must also compliment the Travel Department for the overall structure of the trip and give them a thumbs up for a job well done. My only recommendations would be an extra day or even half day in Luxor if such could be included and perhaps visit a Mosque in Cairo rather than the 'Khan' as the smaller but nicer 'Bazzar' in Aswan is as good and there is free time available. Never say the star rating but deserves updated 5* Richie and Anne

The trip around ancient Turkey was extremely interesting and enjoyable. Our guide Murat was amazing, his knowledge of all the sights we visited and the manner in which he presented it provided us with incredible detail on the history of each place. His attention to detail and the desire to ensure that each of us enjoyed the holiday made this trip the most memorable one for my wife and I. We highly recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in Turkey and its history.

Malta Christmas Trip.

The guide Rita, was excellent, informative, personable and good humoured. I felt the lunches weren't necessary. I would have preferred to use that time to explore the towns and grab a coffee. We weren't informed of the entertainment in the foyer on Christmas eve.

Lovely holiday..

It was our first package holiday in 30yrs and being older and a little less mobile we wanted to see places without stress. It was a great experience. The hotel Catalonia Las Vegas in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife was brill and our guide was fantastic. The coach driver was so skilled. Already thinking of our next destination obviously using the Travel Department.

Bruges Christmas Markets

Having travel several times previously with TD always was wonderful. This experience a little disappointing. Hotel Academic was a lovely hotel but not 4 star hotel it should be classed as 4 star B&B no food/snacks available all day after breakfast (which was excellent), which was disappointing as we arrived around 10pm. The tour guide Ronald was not of the usual standard as ANY previous guides. One lady (travelling solo) misplaced her luggage in airport and he just sent her off to an upstairs information office without offering her any assistance. He smoked constantly when walking us to the bus collecting us and again on the walking tour next day this is very unprofessional (I'm a smoker so not anti smoking, but it was making the non smokers uncomfortable. Bruges is a gorgeous magical place actual Christmas markets are 95% food though there are many shops selling lovely Christmas goods which made up for the lack of such stalls in the actual markets.

Tour of Egypt including a 7 day cruise down the Nile. The experience was made by our first rate guide Dodi, who went the extra mile to ensure our trip was special.

Sicily 2023

Have just returned from Sicily with Travel Department. The island is beautiful and the hotel we stayed in and the trips planned were really great, There were some practical issues that caused some stress including not everyone managing to go on every trip, I think these issues could be resolved by looking at the planning of the itinerary and make this holiday a truly fabulous experience.

egro was extremely…

The trip to Montenegro was extremely well organised. Excellent guides and hotel could not be faulted. The excursions, including Albania, were well worthwhile. As stated in a previous commmunication, the lack of a "meet and greet" for the group-and no attempt to seat fellow travellers together in the hotel proved to be a problem . For the solo traveller it is daunting to enter a vast dining room for dinner on your first night and not know one single person. The fact that there couples within the group did not help. Solo friendly did not always apply and it took a while to befriend like minded people. On a minor issue- I am quite elderly and did have to to move to a room with a walk-in shower. The hotel were very helpful in moving me-I probably should gave requested this in advance. My sixth time travelling with you and overall, a very good experience. Hi have just returned from Vietnam…

Hi have just returned from Vietnam trip. We had a wonderful time. It's hard to believe that we saw so much in 12 days. Jimmy our guide was brilliant. He was so patient and kind nothing was too much for him. I believe that any escorted trip is only as good as its guide and in Jimmy's case we were not disappointed. Food and Accommodation was good. The trip really gives you a good flavour of Vietnam from top to bottom. I would highly recommend this trip. One suggestion l would have is the use of luggage labels even for hand luggage. There were a number of solo travellers on this trip including myself. It's very difficult on longhaul trips to get through airports if you don't know who you are travelling with. This is very stressful for solo travellers.

A fun geography lesson come to life. The Travel Dept made our recent trip to…

The Travel Dept made our recent trip to Iceland so easy and seemless. We had to think or worry about nothing. Play Air lovely smooth flight, landed and our travel guide Ragga met us at arrivals with a smile and a fabulous attitude. Brought then immediately to the Sky Lagoon which was AMAZING! Super relaxing. Then to hotel to chill and leave our luggage in clean comfy rooms, before being collected a little while later for a trip to (hopefully) view the northern lights. Ragga couldn’t have been more patient and we were blessed to get to see them after a few hours hoping and waiting. Wonderful experience! Another trip the next day guided again by Ragga and her knowledge of the main Reykjavík area. Monday’s excursion then was like a truly fascinating geography lesson come to life! Gullfoss waterfall, Geysers bubbling away, volcanic craters, North American plate - it was really fab! Nature at its most powerful. Iceland is a definite must visit and if you want stress free then book it with these guys. Brilliant.

Exceptional service and unforgettable experience a review of my trip to Egypt

I recently had the pleasure of booking a trip to Egypt through The Travel Dept and I cannot express enough how impressed I am with the service and unforgettable experience they provided. Our journey through Egypt was nothing short of magical and our fantastic Travel Dept guide ‘Dodi’ with his incredible knowledge provided insightful historical context which made the visits to iconic landmarks such as Pyramids,the Sphinx, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the kings all the more magical. Dodi was an excellent guide who looked after us all well. Overall I cannot recommend The Travel Dept and their Guide highly enough for anyone planning a trip to Egypt.

I recently travelled to Lake Como for…

I recently travelled to Lake Como for seven days with Travel Department. It was my first experience traveling with them. It was an unforgetable experience from beginning to end. We were met at the airport by our very professional guide. She was from the beginning of our holiday, to the end, supportive. She went as we would say ' the extra mile'. Lake Como and its surrounds were breath taking. It was more than I expected. Every aspect of the holiday was so perfectly planned, so as to have me feel, I could genuinely sit back and relax. The hotel overall was excellent. However, I wasn't completely satisfied with my room, I was on the third floor in a room without a view. My fellow traveller was in room next to mine without a view. My friend requested change of room, and was informed , that she would have to pay supplement in order to get room. Overall it was a holiday delight, and I'm already considering travelling with Travel Department again

Our Tour Guide was fantastic. She made every tour interesting with her knowledge and humour. The hotel was beautiful with lovely grounds and pools, easy access to the beach and good food. It made a change for us to have planned activities and not just lay on a beach for a week.

Martha - A Great Guide

During our holiday based in Estoril Portugal last May our Guide was Martha. As someone who works as a Guide here in Dublin I was really impressed as was my wife Bridie. Martha's knowledge and her ability to communicate it in such a clear and charming manner were excellent. She could not have been more helpful and really contributed to a great holiday. Disappointed travellers

Myself and three friends recently returned from a four day break to Malta. Malta is a beautiful island, the weather was perfect, food and drink excellent and very reasonable. However to say the Travel Department let us down badly is an understatement. Firstly we were off to a bad start when the rep wasn’t to be seen when we came into the arrivals area in the airport although she did turn up a few minutes later and claimed to have been there all the time! On the way to the hotel she offered some advice about the area but said she was too busy to come to the hotel the following morning when we had a free day. The 2nd day we were there the tour guide didn’t turn up at the hotel for our planned day out, we had the bus driver, who some of us believed was perhaps our tour guide but his English wasn’t good so after driving for a while one of our group asked him if he was our guide to which he said he was driving to pick her up. He did that successively and she was an excellent guide, full of advice and information but explained she couldn’t come to the hotel as she had to bring her child to school! Our full day out was condensed to a half day, our guide left us while we had lunch and then the bus driver didn’t turn up to bring us back to the hotel. We waited 50 minutes in 31degrees heat. The following day was no better though the bus driver was very good and had excellent English. However he had a job finding the tour guide for different reasons. Overall the holiday was a disaster as far as the Travel Department are concerned and although I’ve travelled frequently in the past and held them in very high regard, after this experience I’ll think seriously about travelling with them again.

Lovely relaxed trip from beginning to…

Lovely relaxed trip from beginning to end. Quality hotel, coach and driver. and lovely informative local guide. We were well informed on what was happening and had no issues. The group of 45 was a great mix of lovely people, mostly over 50, and everyone mingled well. Most seemed to be planning their next trip with the travel department and several were on their 4th or even fifth trip.

Holiday in Portugal

We had a great holiday, our guide Paula was terrific and very knowledgeable and the hotel was lovely with very helpful staff. We enjoyed the arranged tours, specially Sintra and Obidos (would have loved more time there). We stayed in Estoril, it's very quiet, would have preferred to stay Cascais, lots more shops, restaurants etc. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Fantastic trip

From the moment we arrived in Cochin we were taken great care of by Cleetis our guide, he managed every situation with good humour and grace, and went out of his way to give advice and accommodate every query. He had terrific local knowledge which give us great insights into beautiful Kerala and the lives of the people living there. The programme was very comprehensive, we saw a-lot but at no time did I feel we were being rushed around on a whistle stop tour. Lots of free time to relax, the few days in Goa at the end was a lovely chill out end to the trip. The driver and his helper were charming and together they made a great team. The minibus was spotless and very comfortable. All in all a great trip i would highly recommend it.

A perfect holiday with the perfect tour guide

It was the most amazing holiday ever our tour guide was outstanding he was so helpful stayed with us all of the time helped us the menus I was a solo travler so he always looked out for me if I wanted to go anywhere he would always come with me to the ATM and shops going for a walk to see the villages gave me good advice on what to buy and what not to buy I got bitten badly with mosquitos the trouble he went to help me if you were to pick a number one tour guide he would get 10 of of 10 DJ we called him

New Year in Andalucia

New Year in Andalucia Firstly we are frequent return customers with the travel department and have been travelling with the company for over 20 years long and short hall holidays, this year for the first time we decided to go away for the new year and this trip on paper looked the way to go,unfortunately it was the worst experience we’ve ever had with the travel department, the first three days we had a good experience,hotel in Granada was well situated for walking into the city plenty of restaurants and bars enjoyed the flamenco night, part two of the holiday 4 nights in Loja, The Hotel El Mirador is a nice Hotel Very clean,nice bedrooms,unfortunately it is in the middle of nowhere and nothing to do in the area, the food in the hotel is very scarce and not much variety, unfortunately we were stuck in this hotel and couldn’t even go out to eat as there was nothing in the area you couldn’t walk anywhere,we traveled two hours to Seville and two hours back on one of the days and the next trip to Cordoba to see the great mosque which is worth seeing but nearly the same travelling time again, on new years the dinner was terrible there was no live music absolutely no atmosphere,I definitely would not recommend this trip, Hotel el mirador way to isolated and bus journeys very long our guide was a very nice lady unfortunately she has an itinerary that is giving to her to follow.

I have always loved Travel Department…

I have always loved Travel Department holidays and go on them regularly. Recently I booked to go to London once again after a very successful trip in 2023 (see my review from then). I was told by one of the staff in TD when booking on line to tick the box on the side of the form as I need somebody to take my small case up into the aircraft. As I am coming up to my 80th birthday I cannot carry my small amount of luggage into the aircraft as there are steep steps up into the craft. To my amazement TD are now accusing me of having an ongoing illness and being under medical supervision all because I ticked the box I was told to by one of their staff. They now have me under investigation to see if I am fit to travel. It is unbelievable! I booked for Hungary during the Black Friday deals a few months ago and ticked the box like I was told to do without any problems. Nobody ever came back to me over that. TD has stressed me out completely all because I was given wrong information by one of their staff. If they check the booking for Hungary they will find that I ticked the box there also. I used to just ring OCS two days before departure to book help with my small suitcase without problems. However, Ryan Air interfered with that and now everything has to go through them. Quite frankly I would rather go with Aer Lingus as I know what I am dealing with there. This current experience has put me off ever travelling with TD in the future. No amount of telling them that I do not have an ongoing illness makes any difference. They have made up their mind. As you will see from my last review of TD in 2023 I gave them a glowing review. This is the same trip I was trying to book this year. I have just had the manager of TD on the phone about the above holiday. When I pointed out to him that I needed somebody to take my small cabin luggage on board he implied that I must have mobility issues otherwise I could take it on board myself. What 80 year old woman carries on her own cabin luggage? That was the end of the conversation as far as I was concerned as he lacked basic understanding of customer relations. It took 5 other staff to send me emails before he came on board. I told him if he doesn't want my custom then cancel the holiday and refund me my money. He then said you are not getting any money back for the holiday you have booked to Hungary in March. I never asked him for my money back nor did I ask him to cancel it! London was to be a very special holiday in which I was meeting my friends to celebrate my 80th birthday. After finally confirming my holiday booking to London yesterday, TD have now come back today in an effort to force me to cancel my booking to London. I initially left the decision up to them but since then the level of stress they put me under has destroyed my faith in the company. Following my call to the Aviation Authority I was assured that I was entitled to the help I asked for by EU Law EC1107 level WCHC. Ryan Air through TD have refused me that level of help so I have no choice but to cancel both holidays.TD has now agreed to give me a full refund of all monies paid in respect of Budapest and London holidays as they know I have the law on my side. In future I will travel independently with Aer Lingus in conjunction with OCS at Dublin airport. I have today booked my flight with Aer Lingus to London and have been assured of help from OCS with my cabin luggage. Amazing what a good airline can do to facilitate passengers. My decision not to travel again with Travel Department was forced on me by them continually trying to convince themselves that I was disabled. I am by no means disabled, I am fitter than most of their staff. I was discriminated against by TD, there is no question about it. The manager cannot understand why an 80 year old lady would need help to carry up her small suitcase up the steep steps of Ryan Air craft and into the the cabin. It beggars belief! Travel Department's comments to my complaint are ridiculous in view of the fact that it was they who forced me to cancel my booking. After 10 years of travelling with this company several times a year it is an appalling way to treat a repeat traveller.

Excellent New Year in Tuscany

Thoroughly enjoyed my first trip with the Travel Department...all aspects were really well organised....all I had to do was turn up at the airport then sit back and relax. Great hotel location, wonderful food and interesting excursions with great guides... would highly recommend.

Brilliant trip to Vietnam

Thanks to Hung our fantastic guide who revealed his country to us with his love for it and his vast knowledge our trip was memorable .He gave us a "taste" of Vietnam with its history and culture . He was well organised ,diligent and catering to every aspect of the trip , nothing was too much trouble and lead us along the coast of the Eastern Sea with good humour An asset to TheTravel Department . The Travel Dept Christmas Markets Vienna package was an excellent choice. Travel between airport and hotel both ways was really helpful, and a guided tour to get our bearings before having a day to wander by ourselves. Well-situated hotel near some nice restaurants and within walking distance to the underground train and Schonbrunn Palace.

Maybe your reps should relook at…

Maybe your reps should relook at calling it Bruges Xmas market. It was the worst Cmas Market have been to . Probably 70% stalls food . Very very disappointing. Call your tour Visit Bruges at Christmas but definitely not Christmas market Bruges so naturally beautiful little shops were very festive so made up for it.

An excellent experience

We were met as we stepped off the plane, our guide was with us at baggage reclaim and helping us through customs, so it really was stress-free from landing to take off. Our guide was an expert and imparted knowledge, bringing the history of the temples we visited alive. The hotels and boat were of high standard, the food was varied and excellent, even for vegetarians, and the staff and service throughout friendly and helpful. We packed so much in, it was a very hectic and whistle-stop tour, which we could not have done on our own without an escort.

Traveling Budva Montenegro

Traveling with the Travel Department is effortless, Flights, Coach journey, all is looked after. We went to Montenegro beautiful scenery, Hotel was perfect, food was amazing, The view from our room was so beautiful looking out at the sea..... If I had 1 negative comment it's the distance from Dubrovnik to Budva after the flight was long.....

Interesting and relaxing journey to Southern Spain.

Excellent hotel near to the beach and convenient to local shops, restaurants and cafes. Our tour guide looked after us very well and the bus driver was courteous and helpful. The trips were interesting and the guides were very knowledgeable. The only issue was with EasyJet as they did not have enough check-in staff at Faro airport which resulted in an hour long wait in a queue.

Highlights of Vietnam and Cambodia

What a great experience. Our guide Jimmy Chung was brilliant, patient and kind. He is a top class person that cares about his tour group and the travel department are privileged to have him. We were well looked after by Jimmy, nothing was too much trouble or impossible to organise. Food was fantastic and special requests catered for without issue. All the accommodation from north to south Vietnam were excellent and the organised tours gave a good insight to the history and culture of the Vietnamese people. We also enjoyed our Cambodia experience, it is well worth it to relax in beautiful surroundings after a hectic two weeks. Would highly recommend this tour. Dara and Suzanne Co. Meath

Fantastic 1st Travel Dept Trip to Canada

First time travelling with Travel Dept. We went on the Maple Leaf tour of Canada in October 2023. Everything was very professional. Our tour guide in Canada, Matt de Jong was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his knowledge was second to none. He is a real credit and ambassador for your company. Hotels in Kingston, Montreal and Quebec were fantastically central. Highlights- Niagara, tours in Montreal and Toronto. Hopefully, the first of other travel packages with Travel Dept.

The holiday was excellent. Architecturally Prague is stunning. Our guide Alena was very knowledgeable, engaging and patient. We bought 72 hour passes for travelling to and from our hotel which wasn't in the centre and walked the rest. We enjoyed the food, beer and atmosphere. We managed to see most of the things we had on our list including a Vivaldi concert at the the mirror chapel, Klementinum. There was no stress. The weather was nice for 2 out of 3 days as the cooler temperatures arrived by the 8th but we were glad it was less crowded by going in October.

Vietnam and Cambodia

Went to Vietnam and Cambodia with TD on the 7/10/23. It was a brilliant holiday. The hotels and transportation were top-class. The bus drivers are very experienced. Jimmy Chung is a fantastic guide. He was so kind and helpful to us all. Gave us an interesting insight into the history of his country. The group on the tour were very relaxed and great company. Thank you.

Did the trip to Iceland

Did the trip to Iceland, Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, Northern lights and Golden circle which had been on my bucket list . The trip was so well organised and timed and we had an excellent guide Martina , highly recommend Travel Department as from booking to going on the trip everything went so smoothly and we also were part of a lovely group of 22 people . I normally book independently but the value of the trip and having someone else do the planning was ideal for this trip. I would definitely use them again .

Another excellent trip with the travel department

Another excellent trip with the travel department. Great guides, drivers and hotels. I found seeing 3 countries in 7 days though a bit exhausting at times. Not really much time to relax but determined to go back to Slovenia and Croatia and see more of these beautiful countries. 26 people in the group and a lovely group.

Athens and so much more

The trip to Athens and Tolo was well organised and very enjoyable, the tour guide fantastic, very knowledgeable and full of interesting stories. Our driver was v professional. If I had a negative it would be that the bathrooms in both hotels were not of a 4star standard, the first hotel in Athens had mould around the bath and the hotel in Tolo had a leaky shower which went all over the bathroom floor. Everything else was so well planned out, which mad for a fab holiday.

Solo Danube River Cruise…

I was on the Solo Danube River Cruise last week. It was the best holiday I have ever had. Our Rep Sean met us in the airport and we all had a stress free holiday. He was very familiar with the places we visited and gave us great guidance on where to go. It was a comfort knowing if anything went wrong you had someone to turn to. Fabulous trip to Budapest.

Fabulous trip to Budapest.the architecture is stunning , and everywhere is spotless, Lazlo our guide who went over the top to inform us about the city and history of Hungary in general. He fully entered into the St Patrick’s Day spirit, donning green and orange cap at an impromptu wine and snacks picnic stop on our way to lunch, after viewing Basilica snd Bend of the Danube!!! Just back from an amazing trip to…

Just back from an amazing trip to Iceland. This country is like a school geography lesson come to life. What a fascinating place! We didn’t have to worry about a thing with very well organised tours. Between our trip to the Sky Lagoon, Thingviller national park to see the Northern lights (very lucky to have experienced same), tour of Reykjavík, golden circle tour - honestly everything was fabulous! And of course no tour would be complete without the guide and we definitely got the BEST guide - Ragga. Super knowledgeable, so friendly and personable with a great sense of humour. She was wonderful and super patient with questions and with waiting for some of us dawdlers. The hotel was clean and cosy and served a delicious breakfast each morning. Highly recommend travel dept and if you are going to Iceland then I hope you are lucky enough to get the same guide. The reason for one star less was the baggage allowance on the plane. Not the travel departments fault but the allowance is fairly miserable considering you’re going to a country where you’ll need layers. Otherwise it was all excellent.

Good opportunity to explore Berlin & its restaurants

It was a bit hard that our rooms were not ready for us until midafternoon, given we arrived in the morning. As it happened, we had made arrangements for where to go for lunch. The hotel was ideally situated for sightseeing and access to public transport. The rooms were perfectly designed to make best use of very limited space. The fact that there was no restaurant or room service did not matter too much, given its crntral location. The day tour was much appreciated, although it focused not on what we could see, but on what we would have seen pre-1989, pre-1945. The commentary provided reflected a strong commitment to democratic Germany.

A478881 - India - Splendours of Delhi, the Taj Mahal & Rajasthan including the Holi festival

I have just returned from my holiday to India with The Travel Department. It truly was an amazing experience. Anu, our tour guide played a major role in this. He couldn’t have been more helpful. He went out of his way to ensure all our needs and desires were met. He is extremely knowledgeable, and I feel I have learnt so much about the history of this wonderful country. Everything was organised so well, all one has to do is turn up! My only gripe is it wasn't long enough and in hindsight it would probably have been a good idea to add on the Goa extension as I would have liked some time just to relax in the beautiful weather. This is the first time I have travelled with The Travel Department, but it definitely won't be the last. I look forward to more amazing adventures with them in the future!

Great holiday, well organised

Used Travel Department for the first time and very impressed. Well organised and thought-out tour, hotels were good and the tour guide, Dimitra, was amazing. She was so interesting about the history and people of Greece and went the extra mile in suggesting extra activities she thought we might enjoy. Travelling alone, the group was very welcoming and I had a great time. The only downside was having to travel from Gatwick when I live in the Midlands.

Unforgettable tour of Vietnam

We had an amazing trip through the Highlights of Vietnam with the Travel Department. While the country was beautiful and fascinating, it was brought to life by our fantastic guide Chung (or Jimmy), whose deep knowledge, fastidious organisation and great good humour sustained us all through a hectic fortnight. He helped the group of 33 to gel so well, it didn’t matter who you sat beside or walked with, the chat was mighty! We’re all friends now and have a shared fund of great photos and more important, special memories of a great holiday. Highly recommended!

A superb trip. Well organised from start to finish with a fantastic guide Dodi. He guided, instructed, taught and socialised with us the whole trip. Quite inspiring. Our first organised trip which I approached with some trepidation but became a great experience

The hotel and location was 5star. 2 of the trips were focused on food markets which was of no interest given that we were not going to cook and flight weight restrictions deterred us buying goods. We were allocated 90 minute stops which is very little time to view the shops and get lunch. Service is slow in Portugal which is fine if one has vontrol of their time. We had long waits on all occasions to get our lunch and waited 40 minutes to get our food on one occasion and had 5 minutes to gulp it down, and then waited for to pay for it, creating a delay getting back to the bus. However I love the travel department holidays and will plan others in the future.

the hotel was great and the staff were very nice but xmas arrangements were not visable anywhere but at the receptiion area.We found that were was very little xmas atmosphere around the building.The weather almost made up for that ! It was beautiful and we were able to get out every day.but something should have been arranged for visitors at hotel to do or see over the holiday.Ssuch as some local people or kids singing in the evenings or a local event

A trip of a lifetime.

Recently returned from a fantastic trip of a lifetime to Egypt which included a 7 day cruise in the Nile from Luxor to Aswan and back. We cannot thank our guide Emad Fathy (Dodi) enough for making it a most interesting and memorable trip. Dodi's in-depth knowledge, passion and wit was superb. He even had a few words of Irish which were used to great effect. From start to finish everything went without a hitch and extremely well organized. My only slight disappointment was with the museum in Cairo which has had a large amount of artifacts moved to the new Grand Museum. Other than that I could not recommend this trip enough for anyone interested in the history of Egypt. We were a little concerned about our security before we left but we have never felt as safe as we did while we were there. Tom and Deirdre

Amazing tour of Vietnam

We had an amazing tour with a wonderful group of people guided by the fantastic Jimmy Chong. Chong was so good humoured, energetic and kind to all. He always had a plan B and had a great rapport with our group. We did all of the activities and enjoyed every minute. The set meals were a great way to try Vietnamese cuisine and for people to get to know each other.

Very well organised trip to Sorrento 28th September to 5th October

Very well organised trip to Sorrento . Punctuality was excellent on the part of drivers, guide and fellow travellers. Our guide Cinzia was not alone very well informed but also very caring and good humoured. Hotel Ascot was a very welcoming place to stay. Rachel and all the staff were very efficient and friendly(I don't have their names). A special word of thanks also to the staff for the takeaway breakfast they provided for our Group on our early morning departure. Finally Sorrento was a lovely place to visit and the day trips were most enjoyable. Pompeii was special.

Trip to Salzburg and Vienna

Everything was planned for us by the Travel Department and our guides were so knowledgeable.We still had time to explore on our own with helpful information on how to get there.I think it would be a good idea for the guides to have microphones as we couldn’t always hear one of them.We would love to get some recommendations for places to eat too as it was a bit hit and miss in Vienna.Otherwise we had an amazing holiday and we plan on travelling agin with the Travel Department in 2024.

Just an enjoyable holiday,the hotel was fab and food very good. I loved the swimming pools. Our guide Lisa went above and beyond giving us lots of information and very helpful. We had no problems during our trip and weather was lovely. Just one issue, would be lovely to make tea or coffee in our room but we had no kettle?

India Splendours of Delhi, The Taj Mahal and Rajasthan

We had an incredible holiday and all logistics went perfectly. The scenery, the people, the monuments, the culture, the sounds, the smells and the food make for a holiday of a lifetime. All the items that the Travel department have included in the itinerary make for a perfect and memorable experience of a lifetime. But what really added significantly to the whole experience was the detailed knowledge on everything, attention to detail, good humour and gentle kindness of our guide Anurag. He kept us safe, entertained and educated us on so many aspects of life in India, so much so that the it felt in addition to a holiday it was an immersion in Indian customs and culture. Anurag made the holiday significantly extra special and the whole trip went without any problem for all 28 people in our group. I would also like to give a special mention to the bus driver Malkeet for his kindness and patience and for his excellent driving and keeping us safe. I would also like to mention Chamkaurq who looked after us on the bus and handled all our luggage and assisted everyone on and off the bus and always had a smile for us. It was another really great Travel Department holiday for us and I would have no hesitation in recommending this excursion to anyone.

What an amazing two weeks in Vietnam

What an amazing two weeks in Vietnam. Would absolutely recommend this trip. The guides Moon in Hanoi and Cuan in Hoi An were absolutely amazing. They made our trip really special. Only one thing I would remove the floating markets in Can Tho and replace with an extra day in Hanoi or Ha Long Bay. Thanks for an amazing trip !

We had a wonderful guide. Extremely knowledgeable and kind. However on other trips we didn't have to buy water. WiFi was not free on cruise . Overall a wonderful experience. Thanks to our guide Dodi

Laszlo in Budapest. …

I have just returned from City Tour of Budapest as a solo traveller. I had a wonderful time and learned so much. Our tour Guide was Laszlo. He put his heart and soul into everything he did for us everyday. He was informative,he helped us and had endless patience. He created a party for us at the Danube Bend and told us many harmless funny jokes. Laszlo was wonderful and made the trip for us. Well done TD for employing a guide like Laszlo,he's gold. Venice, Lake Bled and Croatia.

On a recent trip to Venice, Lake Bled, and Croatia, I found the whole experience most enjoyable and hassle free. The guides were very knowledgeable and very helpful. The hotel choices were very good, and overall the Travel Department delivered once again, on this my third trip with them.

Istanbul and Ancient Turkey.

Our guide Meltem was excellent and did a wonderful job telling us about her country and its culture. I think that she was key in making this such an enjoyable and interesting trip. The accommodation and the bus driver were excellent also.
