Terrible update no digital railcard download

Paid to renew our digital railcard today, received a receipt and the digital download link. Every time I attempt to add the link to the app I receive an error message, ‘Oops something went wrong.’ Have uninstalled the app, restarted the phone, asked for a new download link and get the same error message. If you contact the Railcard support they say they will get back to you within 15 days, which is hardly the speedy response you were promised by opting for the digital download. We have therefore had to purchase two full price tickets for our journey today despite having paid for a railcard. The gentleman in the York ticket office was incredibly helpful but there was nothing he was able to do other than selling us another railcard. The other surprising thing about the app was why it would not let us renew our existing digital railcard, with existing photos, rather than having to go through the entire process again. This app could easily be a 5* one with a little more thought and bug testing, and speedier customer response time, it is a great concept.

At last sorted

I can’t be the only carer who had had to use 2 email addresses to get cards for both my husband and myself. It’s been such a complicated process to then - once my poor husband deteriorated beyond hope of recovery- have my card put onto my email address, so I can stop having to use an unnecessary extra email address. It’s taken numerous emails and phone calls to sort along with any number of failed online attempts as, being blind, I can’t see how many traffic lights CAPITA demands I identify. I had to book my next journey on Mega Bus as after 3 weeks of trying in vain to sort my rail card, it seemed such an impossible task that I had no confidence that it was going to be possible. My grateful thanks to Sajid Pradhan who managed to sort this for me. An end to my nightmare.

What a palaver!

It took me over an hour to renew my railcard. The details kept defaulting to my wife’s details (who is a Dr and I’m not) and eventually it renewed with my name but with title Dr so I just went with that. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t me that was causing the problem. You really need to sort the renewal process out to make it easy. My latest expired card didn’t appear on your website and when I asked it to transfer the card onto your website it said, Oops! There’s a problem etc I have always bought railcard for my wife and children so why it should suddenly have my wife as the main account holder I don’t know! As you can tell, I’m somewhat frustrated! Love the railcard though.

I believe it's legitimate, though I've never tried it myself. Looks there's a trip.com mobile app; their website claims you'll be able to show your railcard from the app under Account > My Cards. To link it to an oyster card, ask a staff member at a tube station; they'll do it for you using a staff-only option on the ticket machines.

Once you’ve decided on the Railcard that suits you, it can be purchased online at Trip.com and downloaded as a digital card to your smartphone or Railcard app. Just make sure you always have it with you on the journeys for which you’ve used it! Click to expand...

I've come across a passenger who has had problems with this. Apparently Trip.com railcards only "activate" when you make your first railcard-discounted purchase on their app. The bloke had bought his ticket elsewhere so the railcard didn't "activate". The app seems to have an awful interface in general, I'd steer clear of it, though it is legit.

Could you screen shot the card on trip.com and then use this image saved on your phone to show ticket inspectors? This would avoid the convoluted process to see it on the app and presumably if internet access is poor on the train you wouldn't be able to use the app at all.

Discounts and money off you can get by buying a Railcard in 2024

O ver 20 million Brits are eligible for a Railcard. Getting one can give you some major discounts and money off train fares as costs continues to rise. If you're a daily commuter or someone who travels regularly, getting a Railcard can be a great way to save money.

There are nine different types of cards available, and depending on where you live, your age and if you have a young family, you may be eligible for at least one. For some, getting a Railcard means benefitting from an enormous 60 per cent off train travel.

This is particularly useful in 2024 as on March 3 rail fares in England will rise by 4.9 per cent, 8.7 per cent in Scotland from April, while Wales and Northern Ireland are yet to make an announcement. The UK has one of the oldest rail networks in the entirety of Europe - and one of the most expensive per mile.

With millions of households looking for savings this year, we've got the official list of Railcards available to the public and how much they will discount fares by. If eligible, you can buy any of the Railcards below, by clicking here .

16-25 Railcard

For those aged 16-25, you can save a 1/3 off rail fares for days and nights out with friends, seeing family, going to school , college or university. Purchase a one-year 16-25 Railcard for just £30 or three years Railcard for £70.

16-17 Saver

For those aged 16 or 17, enjoy 50 per cent off standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Advance and Season tickets, for just £30 a year.

26-30 Railcard

Costing £30, those aged 26-30 years old can save 1/3 on most rail fares to travel across Britain for a year. The 26-30 Railcard is the first digital-only Railcard and it is available to buy online and download to the Railcard app on your smartphone.

Network Railcard

For those travelling in South East England and aged 16 or over, you can get an average annual saving of £191. The Network Railcard, £30 for a year, spans more than 16 counties in the South East including Greater London and in the area bounded by places as far afield as Exeter, Worcester, Northampton and Kings Lynn.

Family & Friends Railcard

Children aged 5-15 get 60 per cent discount on kids fares. Up to four adults and four children can travel on one card and it costs £30 a year (£70 for three) years, but you could easily save this on your first trip.

Senior Railcard

For those aged 60 and over, save a third off rail fares for days out, holidays, seeing family and friends or whatever you choose. A Senior Railcard costs £30 for one year and £70 for three.

Two Together Railcard

For two named people travelling together, you get an average annual saving of £129 plus special partner discounts. At just £30 a year - split the cost between you and it's £15 each.

Disabled Persons Railcard

If you have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult, you may qualify for a Disabled Persons Railcard. Just £20 for one year or £54 for three years, discounts are applicable on both peak and off-peak tickets and cover you and a travelling companion.

Veterans Railcard

If you are a veteran of the UK Armed Forces, you may qualify for a Veterans Railcard. You can save up to a third off fares and the card costs £30 for a year or £70 for three.

Waymo One is now open to everyone in San Francisco

The Waymo Team

trip app railcard

The wait is over. Starting today, anyone can hail a ride with Waymo in San Francisco. Rain, shine, or Karl the Fog, just download the app , and ride.

We’ve been operating in San Francisco for years now, deliberately scaling our service over time. With tens of thousands of weekly trips, our Waymo One service provides safe, sustainable, and reliable transportation to locals and visitors to the city alike.

Now it’s available to anyone.

Waymo rides for all, 24/7, across the city

San Franciscans are using Waymo to connect to the city’s social fabric, making fully autonomous rides part of their daily lives.

About 30% of Waymo rides in San Francisco are to local businesses. We’ve provided thousands of rides to and from individual restaurants, live music venues, bars, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, parks, and museums, boosting the local economy. In a recent survey, over half of our riders said they used Waymo in the past couple of months to or from medical appointments, highlighting the value of personal space during these trips. Additionally, 36% of our SF riders used Waymo to connect to other forms of transit, like BART or Muni. Some of our San Francisco riders even use Waymo to depart in style from their weddings .

“I'm thankful to be living in a city that embraces technology when it can improve our lives with convenient and safe modes of transit,” says Michelle Cusano, Executive Director at The Richmond Neighborhood Center.

Waymo’s fleet is all-electric and sources 100% renewable energy from the City’s CleanPowerSF program . Since the beginning of our commercial operations in August 2023, Waymo’s rides have helped curb carbon emissions by an estimated 570,000 kg , contributing to California’s ride hail emissions goals. This also empowers our riders to travel more sustainably — Waymo’s recent rider survey revealed that 53% of our San Francisco users feel that Waymo has helped them be more environmentally friendly.

Plus, more than half of Waymo riders in SF say that riding with Waymo has improved their sense of personal safety when getting around, according to the survey.

“I enjoy riding in Waymo cars and appreciate the ease of transportation,” says Charles Renfroe, Development Manager at Openhouse SF. “Members of our community, especially transgender and gender non-conforming folks, don’t have to worry about being verbally assaulted or discriminated against when riding with Waymo.”

In addition to improving mobility for locals, Waymo offers a unique way for visitors to experience the city. Thousands of tourists have enjoyed the sightseeing from Waymo vehicles, exploring San Francisco’s iconic landmarks from the Presidio to the Ferry Building. By supporting Spanish and Chinese languages through our app and in-car features, we ensure a more inclusive experience for a diverse group of local riders and visitors to the City by the Bay alike.

In total, nearly 300,000 people, including those who live, work, and visit San Francisco, have signed up to ride with Waymo since we first opened a waitlist — more than a quarter of the city’s population. We’ve been welcoming new riders to the service incrementally, and we are now excited to open it up to everyone.

Scaling our operations safely and responsibly

Safety leads everything we do at Waymo, and this step in our journey builds on over 15 years of experience building safe and convenient autonomous driving, ever since we took our first rides on the streets of Palo Alto back in 2009. With more than 20 million rider-only miles and nearly 2 million paid rider-only public trips under our belt, we’re now bringing the safety benefits of the Waymo Driver to more people in San Francisco.

Road safety is urgent. Thirty nine people were killed on San Francisco’s roads in 2022 and twenty five more in 2023, with thousands reporting injuries every year. Traffic violence kills around 40,000 people in the U.S. annually. The status quo on road safety doesn't serve the people of San Francisco, and the Waymo Driver can help change that.

"Drunk driving remains the leading cause of fatalities and injuries on American roads, claiming over 13,000 lives in 2021 alone. As drivers increasingly drive while impaired, the need for technological intervention becomes evident,” — says Patricia Rillera, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) California State Executive Director. “MADD proudly collaborates with autonomous vehicle leaders like Waymo, recognizing their potential to prevent tragedies caused by impaired, distracted, and drowsy driving."

Our track record for safe operations is unparalleled. We’ve been safely transporting passengers for over six years, now providing more than 50,000 rides a week across three major urban areas. Over more than 30 scientific papers, it’s become clear that the Waymo Driver is already improving road safety in the cities where we operate. The Waymo Driver avoids high-severity collisions better than even the most attentive human drivers, and the data shows that we have fewer insurance claims and injuries or police reports than human drivers.

Waymo's SF safety numbers

Our operations improve safety for other road users, too. Over the 3.8+ million rider-only miles we’ve driven in San Francisco through the end of March, the Waymo Driver was involved in 17 fewer crashes with injuries and 12 fewer police-reportable crashes compared to human drivers*.

We’re committed to growing our service gradually and responsibly. We work closely with city and state officials, first responders, and advocates for road safety to ensure our service helps local communities gain access to reliable, safe, environmentally friendly transportation and has a positive impact on mobility.

A huge thanks to our many riders, community partners, and the residents of San Francisco for their support on this journey. Together, we’re providing locals and visitors to San Francisco with a safe, clean and fun mobility experience, keeping the city on the forefront of technological innovation.

And if you’d like to experience full autonomy for yourself, download the Waymo One app on the App Store and Google Play and take a ride today.

*The comparison is informed by Waymo’s methodology introduced in December, 2023.

Passport concierge helps celebrities, lawmakers, Fortune 500 CEOs expedite travel documentation

Presidents, vice presidents and high-profile celebrities are just like us – they forget to renew their passports and visas, too.

David Alwadish, CEO and president of ItsEasy.com, a digital passport service that expedites proof of citizenship and identity to obtain travel approvals outside the U.S. , told FOX Business during a phone interview that Hollywood elites and former lawmakers connect for private delivery of their documents.

"I can't mention names," he said. "That's a policy that I have."

Alwadish said former vice presidents, attorneys general, Fortune 500 CEOs, celebrities and family members of high-ranking officials, among others, hired him to capture travel documentation quickly.

David Alwadish

"I'm recommended to them and in one particular case, there was a family member of an ex-president that needed a new passport," he said. "They don’t wait in the regular room. They go in the back and sit in the director's office and the passport is taken care of."

He added, "When I get it, everything is very, very safe and secure and I always put their passports in my safe at all times."

Alwadish and only one other colleague handle VIP passport and visa documentation, which they accord with "very, very special attention."

"At the end of the day, their passports expire," he said.

Most commonly, assistants, handlers and Secret Service personnel deliver information to Alwadish concerning elite bosses. Though, he said sometimes, much to the surprise of his employees, celebrities strut through the front doors of his New York City office themselves.

"I think they get more excited if I bring a movie star’s passport," he said of his staff.

Regarding the need for expedited passports or visas, Alwadish said most often, high-profile clients misread the expiration date on their passports or lack qualifications for the six-month U.S. Customs and Border Protection rule.

ONLINE PASSPORT RENEWAL IS BACK – HERE'S HOW TO DO IT

Itseasy.com

President and CEO of ItsEasy.com told FOX Business he does not charge for passport photos. (ItsEasy.com / Fox News)

Additionally, destination weddings, last-minute getaways, professional or personal emergencies, including a death in the family, send superstars his way.

"I feel very bad when that happens," he said.

While a host of A-list clientele appears in Alwadish’s Rolodex, the company caters to the average American, too.

ItsEasy.com, and similar companies, possess the golden ticket for daily appointments at various passport processing agencies in cities and states across the U.S. He said his employees drop off passports for travelers in dire need of documentation, and they operate a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days per year live call center.

"You’ll never have to leave the office or your home," Alwadish said.

ItsEasy.com offers in-app or online expedited services to consumers in which government forms are signed, and professional passport photographs are obtained virtually. Alwadish advises the passport renewal process can take within 2-2.5 weeks.

THESE ARE THE TOP-RATED AIRLINES FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

The U.S. Department of State also advises a two-week processing period on their website.

For renewal services, customers are required to pen government forms, including proof of a passport and travel, a letter of authorization and a photograph.

"Passport photos in my business are always complementary," Alwadish said. "They don’t feel like I’m trying to sell them photos because I don’t charge them for mine."

Alwadish added that the number one reason passports are rejected is due to the poor quality or nature of photos.

For individuals looking to obtain a passport for the first time, proof of citizenship, a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, a government form of identification, including a driver’s license or state ID, and an itinerary, among other documents, are required.

Alwadish said he reminds clients a year in advance to renew their passports.

"In part, I am trying to move away from the urgency," he said.

He added, "I also prepare people who are not in a rush for the Post Office," which he does to ensure customers avoid passport or visa rejection by government agencies.

Courting Latino voters, Kamala Harris to visit Las Vegas after Biden-Trump debate

trip app railcard

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to stump in Las Vegas the day after President Joe Biden's first debate with former President Donald Trump next week in a post-debate push targeting Latino voters .

Harris will discuss "the stakes of the election for Latino voters" during next Friday's campaign stop, the Biden campaign said. She will be making her fifth trip this year to Nevada, a crucial battleground state in the 2024 election, and her 13th as vice president.

Biden and Trump are taking part in their first televised debate of the election next Thursday on CNN. Biden is spending the coming days at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland with top White House aides preparing for the debate.

More: Can Biden count on Hispanic voters in a Trump rematch? Weakening support raises alarm for 2024.

Harris will be joined by second gentleman Doug Emhoff at the Nevada event. Ahead of the debate on Monday, Harris is set to visit Arizona, where she will target Hispanic voters on the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court decision that overturned the 50-year Roe v. Wade precedent protecting a constitutional right to an abortion.

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

Polling has shown Biden underperforming among Latino voters, a key Democratic constituency, compared to his 2020 victory against Trump. Exit polls found Biden won Hispanic voters by a 65%-32% margin over Trump in the 2020 election.

But in a Fox News poll released Wednesday that found Biden leading Trump 43%-42% nationally, Biden leads Trump 45%-40% among Hispanic voters, followed by independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 11%. Biden leads Trump 50%-48 in a head-to-head race with no third-party candidates, and Hispanic voters 53%-43%, the poll found.

Biden carried Nevada by less than 34,000 votes in the 2020 election, but Trump currently leads Biden in Nevada 5.7 percentage points, according to the Real Clear Politics average of polls.

Biden, amid criticism from Republicans over his handling of immigration, took executive action this month to prevent migrants from seeking asylum at the U.S-Mexico. border when border crossings surge, like presently. On Tuesday, Biden unveiled a program that seeks to protect people who are in the country illegally but are married to U.S. citizens from being deported.
