Nissan has been producing Midnight Edition variants across its lineup since the 2013 Juke, and for the second time in its history the Rogue gets one. 2023 Nissan Ariya: What’s New

The new Ariya electric is the size of a Rogue but with the interior space of a Murano courtesy of its flat, low floor. It's the first Nissan on the new CMF-EV dedicated electric vehicle architecture, which will underpin future EVs for the Nissan, Renault, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, and Alpine brands globally over the next decade.

The electric SUV is offered in 238-hp single-motor FWD and dual-motor 389-hp AWD configurations, each with an 87-kWh battery. (A version with a 66-kWh battery pack is also expected later.) The entry-level 2023 Ariya FWD also gets a 130-kW DC fast charge rate, putting the charging time from zero to 100 percent at just over 40 minutes and zero to 80 percent charge at just over 32 minutes. Base models deliver 304 miles of range and AWD versions about 216 miles of usable range.

Standard equipment on every 2023 Ariya includes powered front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, four USB charging ports, and Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. Higher trims add a panoramic moonroof, a power liftgate, and wireless device charging. The highest AWD model boasts a hands-free liftgate, power-tilting and -telescoping steering wheel, cooling and memory for the front seats, and a Bose Premium audio system with 10 speakers. With a base price just a couple thousand dollars less than fifty grand, the Ariya is going for a more upscale buyer than EVs like the Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, or even Hyundai Kona Electric.

2023 Nissan Armada: What’s New

The mighty Armada just received a midcycle refresh for 2021, when it added new technology, updated styling, and introduced a special edition. Last year's version of the full-size three-row SUV gained one-touch power-folding third-row seats, and the 2023 model remains status quo. A future hybrid model could help the Armada widen its appeal.

Nissan Rogue Sport: Discontinued 

Citing a prioritization of its core models, Nissan has elected to cease production of the U.S.-market Rogue Sport after the 2022 model. (However, the Qashqai model the Rogue Sport is based on will continue selling globally). We lauded the junior Rogue for its spacious passenger areas, comfortable ride, and generous set of standard active safety features. But the Sport also had an unrefined, anemic powertrain and was pricey for its class.
