Where can I park my car at the port?

If you decide to drive to your departure port you can rest assured that the process will be surprisingly simple and stress-free. At each departure port we have long term established relationships with dedicated parking providers.

You will be able to drive straight up to the cruise terminal where the luggage porters will assist with taking your bags from you, leaving you with your hand luggage, suit/dress carriers, cruise ticket and passports.

Each port operates slightly differently but there will be plenty of attendants on hand to guide and assist you with your car.

Rosyth and Newcastle (Port of Tyne)

Newcastle (Port of Tyne): The charge is from £16 per night and must be pre booked.

Rosyth: The charge is from £14.00 per night and must be pre booked.

Vehicle registration and make required at the time of booking. If you are a disabled guest, please advise at the time of booking. For camper vans/vans, or anything larger than a normal car, a 50% additional charge applies. Car parking at these ports is operated by the car registration, therefore there are no vouchers required.

(September 19, 2024) – The scenic island nation of Japan continues to be a hot destination for tourists who are inspired by architecture, local cuisine and natural landscapes, and this trend is expected to extend into 2026. Today, Princess Cruises – recognized as the leading North American cruise line in Japan – released its 2026 Japan cruise season, offering the most immersive and authentic experiences for the culturally curious traveler who wants to plan ahead.

The 2,670-guest Diamond Princess, built in Japan and designed for this great destination, returns to offer a longer season, from February through November 2026, with 50 departures ranging in length from seven to 28 days, on 35 unique itineraries visiting 38 destinations in three countries.

No matter the itinerary, Diamond Princess guests will take in legendary cities from Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima; temples and shrines like the Aomori’s Sannai-Maruyama ruins, Kochi Castle and Itsukushima Shrine, the most recognizable red torii ; arts, culture and tradition from baseball, Sumo wrestling, Kabuki theater and Zen gardens; natural wonders and landscapes with the celebrated cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji and Nagai Botanical Gardens in Osaka; to vivacious festivals, sake, seafood and celebrated cuisine.

10- and 11-day Spring Flowers cruises in March and April to all four main islands, following the predicted blooming season as it moves from south to north.
9- to 14-day Circle Japan Voyages circumnavigate the island of Japan, with stops including Nagasaki, Kanazawa and Maizuru (for Kyoto).
9-day Southern Islands itineraries call to Okinawa, Ishigaki in Japan, along with Taipei (Keelung) and Hualien on the island of Taiwan.

Norwegian unveiled plans for a new cruise ship — complete with a roller coaster waterslide and night club to take on Royal Caribbean

Norwegian Cruise Line says its 3,550-guest Norwegian Luna will debut in 2026.
The company's 21st vessel would have family-friendly amenities such as a roller coaster-like waterslide.
Luna could be a good option for families who prefer a new build but don't enjoy mega cruise ships .

If you're tired of only hearing about ultra-large cruise ships or ultra-expensive small ones, Norwegian Cruise Line has the answer.

On Wednesday, the popular cruise company unveiled details of Norwegian Luna, its next Prima Plus Class ship.

The upcoming vessel, Norwegian's 21st, would have family-friendly amenities like infinity pools, a high-tech sports court, and a cross between a roller coaster and waterslide.

The cruise liner is scheduled to kick off its maiden season in April 2026 with weeklong Caribbean cruises roundtrip from Miami.

At 1,056 feet long and 156,300 gross tons, Luna would be larger than the company's preceding Prima Class vessels but smaller than any ships its competitor, Royal Caribbean, has debuted over the last 15 years.

If you don't love giant cruise ships, Royal Caribbean's dazzling mega-ships could make for an overwhelming vacation.

The largest, Icon of the Seas, is 1,1960 feet long and 250,800 gross tons. It may be packed with family-friendly activities like a waterpark and an ice skating rink, but you'll have to share these amenities with another 7,599 guests.

Two of Royal Caribbean's less sizable cruise ships are also scheduled for Miami cruises in 2026. But by then, the newer of the two, Independence of the Seas, will already be 18 years old.

So, if you want to cruise out of Miami but prefer a new, large-but-not-too-large vessel, the 3,550-guest Norwegian Luna could be a great option for you and your family.

The ship is expected to be identical to Norwegian's upcoming Norwegian Aqua , scheduled to debut in March 2025. The pair of floating resorts won't have as many attractions as Icon of the Seas, but they would still hold their ground in the family-friendly cruise industry.

Like Aqua, Luna would have signature Norwegian amenities such as a 10-station food hall, a 10-story-tall dry slide, and Ocean Boulevard, an open-air walkway with restaurants, pools, and lounges.

Young children would have a water playground while adults have an al fresco lounge with infinity hot tubs.

Along with a new Thai restaurant, wine bar, and plant-based eatery, Aqua and Luna would also debut two firsts for the cruise line: the Aqua Slidecoaster and the Glow Court. Norwegian Luna's maiden season fares range from $1,400 per person for an interior cabin to $18,500 per person for the Owner's Suite. Not too steep compared to Icon of the Seas' cheapest 2026 itinerary, which comes in at about $1,710 per person for seven nights.

George Clooney is a known practical joker. The actor is almost as famous for some of his antics as he is for his films. His friends like Brad Pitt and Matt Damon have spoken often about some of the pranks that Clooney has pulled , but the actor recently told a story about pranking Tom Cruise that has to be one of the best we’ve heard.

Clooney has frequently used letters as the method for his pranks . It's been mentioned before that Clooney would write letters to people with Bill Clinton's stationery , but now we know exactly how he got it as well as stationery from other celebs he has used for pranks.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss Wolfs , his new movie with Brad Pitt , Clooney revealed that, it is thanks to Kimmel that he has stationary that came from the desk of former President Bill Clinton as well as other famous names. Kimmel explained the gift he gave to Clooney, saying…

I had received a letter from President Clinton, and I had that stationary duplicated. I’m not sure if that’s a crime or not. I had it duplicated at great expense, it’s a multi-color raised seal sort of situation and I gave it to you because I knew it would be in good hands and that you would have a lot of fun with it. The stationery was given by Kimmel because he knew Clooney would enjoy pranking his friends. And he has done so in spades. You've been booked for our next Crochet Cruises in Fall 2025. What's next? New cruisers may not be aware of our future procedures.

Sherry's communications are very direct and to the point. We are not the only group or people for whom she is scheduling travel. All communications need documentation, and you must email her first so she has a record of your request for changes on file. Each guest has their file with her. She will document communications as she is 'by the book' for travel.

We will have a private crochet cruise booklet closer to the cruise for the guidelines and much more about these cruises in spring 2025.

You were added to a private Facebook Group at the time of booking. You are either in Group 1 for the first cruise or Group 2 for the second cruise. Random people or strangers are not placed into these groups so that you get to know who is riding on the ship with you. Should a person cancel, they are automatically taken out of the group.

If you have a travelling companion who needs an invite, please get in touch with Sherry Leybovich to send an invite. We do not add family or friends who are not travelling with us to the group . Just email her at [email protected]

In The Future

Anything about your booking or financials needs to be handled privately with Sherry. Do not post on the group changes to your reservation, cancellations, add-ons, or anything that changes your booking. That's a private matter to be handled confidentially with Sherry.

At the Time of Booking

UPDATED: You were asked about travel insurance. You either accepted it or declined it. If you have not purchased travel insurance yet, you can still get it. Email Sherry immediately to have it added.

You were asked about your dietary needs. If that changes—email Sherry.
All evening dinners are with the group at the early seating. Go ahead if you decide to eat the buffet or at another restaurant on board. We don't need notice if you are not attending the arranged seating dinner.
Your cabin mates will sit at your table, and other crocheters from the group will be added in. Celebrity Cruise Lines arranges the seating, but they are informed to keep our group together.

All luggage is x-rayed when it boards the ship. Any alcohol that is smuggled and contraband that is found, such as steamers, irons, weapons that include firearms, knives, extension cords, and gawd knows whatever is in there, will be taken out before it arrives as your cabin and be given back to you at the end of the cruise.

Must be Pre-Arranged

If you need an extension cord for your CPAP, please let Sherry know. Celebrity will provide it. DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN ; it will be taken away from you and returned to you at the end of the cruise.
Do not bring any irons or steamers with you for your clothing. It will be taken away from you.
Sherry must arrange it beforehand if you need help walking up the long path and steep incline to the ship from the terminal. The vessel will assign pier assistance to you. You cannot request this service without it being documented on your cruise ticket. If you have a cane, struggle to walk or are in a wheelchair already, please email Sherry to have this noted on your ticket.
Sherry can assist in the rental services of medical equipment you may need, including scooters and other medical needs. Scooters, if rented, will be waiting for you at your cabin door. You cannot rent one on board, as it's a private firm that puts it on the ship for you.
Suppose you have a service dog that needs to be on board. A lot of paperwork must be done, and it must be pre-authorized to be on the ship. Email Sherry to get started on this. Pets are not allowed on board.

Communications Going Forward

If something major happens, Sherry will email you directly.

If there are notices such as excursions or a time to start booking other things, they will be on Facebook Groups to let you know.

Plane Tickets

When the time comes closer, you can purchase your tickets if needed. There is parking at the cruise terminal for people, and we will have more information about that.

If you are flying the same day of the cruise departure, ensure you get to Fort Lauderdale in the morning and factor in any possible delays.

When the cruise is finished, schedule your departure from Fort Lauderdale after 1 p.m. It would be best if you had time to get off the ship, and with the thousands of cruisers from multiple cruise ships, the airport will be bustling. Scheduling your departure before noon when the cruise is over risks you not making it on time and missing your flight. The flights out are usually sold out. There's no room for a mistake.

Strong Recommendation

Celebrity Cruise Lines will be offering plane tickets called Flights by Celebrity.

If the airline they have booked for you fails to connect, has weather issues or doesn't get to Fort Lauderdale on time, they will guarantee to take care of you by putting you up in a hotel and moving you to the first stop of the cruise ship. You really don't want this to happen, but if it does, Flights by Celebrity takes over and gets you moved.

If you opt to book your own and it fails to get you to the terminal on time, you'll have to figure out what's next. Sherry can advise, but you are responsible for the cost incurred and the next steps.

Pre and Post Cruise Hotel

The same hotel will be selected as the pre-cruise hotel for both cruises. Most people show up the day before the cruise, some two days before.

Sherry will assign the pre-cruise hotel for bookings in the Spring of 2025. The rates given are corporate rates as our party tends to be large. You will be paying for this hotel at a discounted rate.

Sherry will have an online form to complete, and the hotel will be ready for you. The bookings stay open for a limited time before the remaining rooms are given back to regular guests trying to book.
Check-ins open up around 3 pm. The hotel will be sold out.
You will be asked for us to Shuttle you to the cruise terminal at your expense on our private coaches. This includes everyone travelling to your party with you. If you opt not to do this service, please go direct to the cruise terminal.

The night before, you will be given your T-shirts, Swag, and more at the Pre-Cruise Hotel. If your plane hasn't yet arrived, we will have your name tag and swag with us in the morning before we depart from the hotel. We will be in the lobby.

If this is the second cruise, your lanyards will accompany Mikey. We will announce where we are sitting on the vessel if you want to slide by to pick them up.

If you are not going to the hotel at all, please see us on the ship. We will give you the same stuff and announce in the group where we are to pick everything up.

Things to Bring

Please bring any medications you need on board the ship. We are not dispensing medications. Should you need something like an aspirin, the gift shop on board will have it, but there is a big price difference that makes it worthwhile to bring it from home.

Medical On Board

For non-Americans, the Sick Bay is on board at the bottom of the ship. Should you need medical assistance, it's run like American health care; you pay to play, which means that a simple visit will cost you dearly. Seeking a doctor is USD 140; the bill will be higher for any other care.

Pack the medications you may need, including stomach, indigestion or diarrhea.

Crochet Things to Bring

We will announce this later on. The workshops are still in progress.

Final Note About Sherry

For ten years, we have used Sherry as our dedicated Crochet Cruise and Big Events outside of making Jimmy Beans Wool Retreats. Sherry also handles Daniel and I's personal travel.

Sherry will be aboard the cruise ship with us. Celebrities may overlook reservations that do not apply beverage packages and other conditions. Sherry carries a massive book of reservations and will fix things to match your order. We have yet to cruise, and some reservations are missing things like beverage packages.

Sherry doesn't get involved in the following:

Roommates or spouses that are fighting.
Foodservice that doesn't meet your needs.
The service of staff on board isn't meeting your expectations.
Billing discrepancies for anything you charge to your credit card while on board.

Sherry's advice will always be the same: go to customer service. They are equipped to deal with these complaints. Contact customer service if you see a billing issue midway through your cruise. The day before we finish a cruise, there is mayhem at customer service for anyone finding errors or thinking there are errors. Deal with them as they come.

Former President Donald Trump said he knows pilots better than Tom Cruise, as the former president was grilled about the existence of aliens.

Whether Trump knew the A-lister has a pilot’s license or the former president was referring to Cruise’s character in the Top Gun series is up for debate.

Trump made the remarks on Wednesday while appearing on Gutfeld! , a Fox News late-night talk show hosted by Greg Gutfeld. Fox News panelist Kat Timpf presented the former president with the line of questioning on the secretive military base .

“Can I please ask a question, just because I’m never gonna be allowed in a room with a president again?” she said during the president’s appearance. Gutfeld gestured for her to continue.

“Are there aliens at Area 51 ?” she said.

Trump responded: “I’ll tell you, it’s a funny thing because I think that might be a question that I get more than any question. It is the craziest thing.”

“I don’t think I’m a believer,” Trump continued. “But I have interviewed pilots that look – I like Tom Cruise – but better than Tom Cruise.”

Cruise is a licensed pilot, but one of his most famous roles is as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun . It's unclear if the Republican nominee for president was referring to the fictional fighter pilot or Cruise’s actual flying skills when making the comparison.

The actual pilots told him, Trump recounted, that: “’All I know, sir, is there was a round object that was going four times faster than my F-22,’ which is a very fast plane.” Trump added: “Four or five guys I’ve interviewed, solid people, great pilots for the US Air Force, etcetera, they’ve seen things that they cannot explain.”

Tyrus then asked the former president if he’d be willing to “put tariffs on them” on aliens, if they are real and visit from outer space. Trump replied: “Yes.”
