Dying Light 2 guide: Fast Travel and Metro Stations

Fast Travel in Dying Light 2 requires a little bit of work. A few Fast Travel locations will unlock automatically as part of the main story, but the rest require you to find a Metro Station Nighttime Activity .

In this Dying Light 2 Fast Travel and Metro Station guide, we’ll give you a map to every Metro Station and Fast Travel location. We’ll also explain what you’ll have to do when you get there.

There are 10 Fast Travel locations scattered around Old Villedor and the Central Loop. Two of them — Main Terminal Station in Quarry End and PK Floating Fortress in The Wharf unlock as you progress through the main story. The other eight require you to find them and complete each one’s Metro Station Nighttime Activity .

When you unlock the first Metro Station, you’ll get the Tunnel Entrance achievement or trophy . When you unlock every Metro Station, you’ll earn the Tube Map achievement or trophy .

Once a Fast Travel destination or Metro Station is unlocked, you’ll be able to Fast Travel to them from anywhere at any time (as long as you’re not actively in a story mission). Head to your Map , and hover over one of the icons with the three arrows. Hold down the prompt to Fast Travel.

Dying Light 2 guide: Fast Travel and Metro Stations

At the bottom of stairs in every Metro Station, there’s also a Metro map. If you approach this map, you’ll get another Fast Travel prompt. That will take you to the Map where you can choose your destination.

Metro Station Activity

Power up the metro station.

Dying Light 2 guide: Fast Travel and Metro Stations

When you first arrive at a Metro Station, it won’t be active. You’ll have to head down the stairs at night and clear out any enemies you find — Infected or, later, Renegades. Your goal is to “Power up the Metro Station” by finding a fuse box and throwing the switch.

Most of the time, though, this won’t finish the Activity.

Turn on the emergency generators

Dying Light 2 guide: Fast Travel and Metro Stations

After you throw the switch, you’ll get a new objective: “Turn on the emergency generators.” There will be four of them.

Metro Stations have the same general layout, so the process will be the same. You’ll head into the elevator, and then crawl beneath the elevator to drop the rest of the way down.

In the lowest level, you’ll need to navigate a Chemical Area that drains your Immunity while you jump around to flip the switches on the four generators marked on your HUD.

When a Metro Station is unlocked, you’ll get a Bed and a Stash in a Safe Zone . You’ll also find a(t least one) Inhibitor in that Safe Zone in every Metro Station

Dying Light 2 fast travel: How to unlock fast travel and all Metro Station locations in Dying Light 2

How to save your legs by catching a train.

Dying Light 2 takes place over the ruined cityscape of Villedor, and to get around it as quickly as possible, you'll want to know how to unlock fast travel as soon as you can.

Unfortunately, the actual act of unlocking fast travel is locked off until a set point in the story of Dying Light 2. It isn't a case of simply walking up to a point on the map and interacting with it, as you'll need to return power to Villedor before you can do anything with the Metro stations.

This page gives you an over view of Dying Light 2's fast travel system - including where you can and can't go - including how you can unlock Metro Stations to help you get around.

On this page:

How does Dying Light 2's fast travel work?

How to unlock fast travel in dying light 2, all metro station locations in dying light 2.

Cover image for YouTube video

At the very beginning of Dying Light 2, fast travel won't be unlocked for you. In fact, it's going to stay this way for right around 15 hours, until you make it to the Central Loop map area of the game as part of the story.

Up until that point, fast travel will be unavailable, because there isn't any power running through the city. So, if you were to walk up to a Metro Station and attempt to interact with it, it'll tell you that you can't because there isn't any power available to actually get the station itself back up and running.

dying light 2 travel between maps

Once you have eventually unlocked fast travel though - as we'll explain just below - you can fast travel from anywhere in the game. As long as you're not knee deep in infected or human bandits, you can simply open up your map by tabbing over to it from the inventory screen, and select any unlocked Metro Station to immediately teleport there.

It's important to remember that though you can fast travel from anywhere, you can only go to Metro Stations in Dying Light 2. You can't use fast travel to zip to windmills , power plants, or any other such landmarks, as instead you're confined entirely to using it to travel to the nearest Metro Station to your eventual destination.

dying light 2 travel between maps

To unlock fast travel in Dying Light 2, you need to make it to the Central Loop area of the city. You'll do this as part of the story, taking around 15 hours to reach - so if you're keen to make use of Metro Stations, then it's worth prioritising story missions.

In the first few hours of this new area, you're going to play through a mission where someone will deliberately use your GRE Access Key to return power to the whole city.

dying light 2 travel between maps

This mission will culminate in you and another character standing proud atop a skyscraper in the Central Loop, admiring the bright lights now shining across the city.

It's after this mission that power will permanently return to Villedor, and fast travel is subsequently unlocked for the rest of Dying Light 2.

Looking for more help? We have system explainers for crossplay and how to play co-op as well as how long it takes to beat Dying Light 2 . For upgrades, there are factions to consider, our recommendations for the best skills and how to get XP fast . As for things to find, there are Inhibitor locations , Windmill locations and our explainer on how to unlock fast travel . Finally, we also explain how to complete the early meet the people of the Bazaar objective and the various Dying Light 2 endings .

To unlock fast travel points, however, you're going to have to work a little harder. Scattered throughout Dying Light 2's map are Metro Stations, and it's these locations that you're going to have to interact with in order to unlock fast travel to specific points around the map.

The actual act of unlocking a Metro Stations involves descending underground into the bowels of the station, and clearing it of whatever nasties are waiting for you there.

dying light 2 travel between maps

This might mean taking out a group of infected, or slaying a group of Renegade bandits. You'll want to go into these locations heavily armed and prepared for anything, especially if you don't prefer sneaking around and taking everyone out by utilising stealth.

Once the enemies are cleared, you'll simply need to complete one of the electricity circuit puzzles with the cable that you'll have done countless times before by now, and the Metro Station is yours.

There are 12 Metro Stations in total to find, and we've composed several map screens showing where they are located spread throughout Dying Light 2's Old Villedor and Central Loop areas:

Here's how fast travel works in Dying Light 2

How do you fast travel in Dying Light 2? It's a pretty common question among new Dying Light 2 players, because the answer is not at all clear - at least, not at first. When you first begin your journey in the massive city of Villedor, it may not even appear to be possible to fast travel anywhere. But rest assured, fast travel is very much a possibility in Dying Light 2 - you just need to complete some tasks in order to unlock fast travel at particular locations.

Below we'll walk you through everything you need to know about fast travel in Dying Light 2, including how to unlock new fast travel points, the limitations of fast travel, and more.

Cover image for YouTube video

How to fast travel in Dying Light 2

Very few locations are available for fast travel in Dying Light 2. One such location is the PK's base of operations in the Central Loop. The good news is that you can add a few more fast travel locations over time, by clearing out Metro Stations scattered about the map.

The city's train stations have long since shut down by the time Dying Light 2 begins, and now they are home only to either bandits or Infected. Each Metro station is marked on your map when you discover it, and an activity is added to your quest log which involves you heading down into the Metro station at night, clearing out the intruders, and restarting the power. Doing this will turn the Metro station into a viable fast travel point - and you'll get a new rest and stash area to boot.

As with other internal locations such as Dark Hollows and Forsaken Stores, you'll have a much easier time dealing with Infected-ridden Metro stations if you head down there at night, while the Infected are all out roaming. Of course, if you want to go down during the day and earn more Infected Trophies , be our guest!

To activate a Metro station you'll need to reach and flip the main switch. With some stations there will be no power, so you'll need to activate each of the generators in the station before flipping the main switch. This can involve a fair bit of sneaking around and/or fighting enemies, so make sure you come prepared.

Once a Metro station or other location has become a fast travel point, you can open up your map and select that location's icon to fast travel there at any time (as long as you're not in the middle of a fight, the air, or certain quest sections). For those who like to avoid fast travel in open-world games, you can mostly do that here - although the two main portions of Dying Light 2's map - Old Villedor and the Central Loop - are not connected, so once you unlock the Central Loop, the only way to travel between those locations is by using fast travel.

Now that you know how to fast travel, you'll be able to traverse the city of Villedor much more quickly. But for those who want to take the manual route, I'd urge you to check out our guides on unlocking the Paraglider and the Grappling Hook to make exploration far swifter and more fun. With these tools and fast travel combined, you'll be able to dance around the map completing quests and collecting Dying Light 2 Inhibitors like there's no tomorrow.

Perfect parkour

Running from rooftop to rooftop is the best way to get around in Dying Light 2 , but sometimes you just want to fast travel .

Cover image for YouTube video

However, fast travel isn’t available from the start of the game, and there are some hoops you need to jump through to unlock it once it is.

Here’s everything you need to know.

How do you fast travel in Dying Light 2?

Fast travel first becomes available from when you reach the Central Loop in Dying Light 2.

dying light 2 travel between maps

To then fast travel in Dying Light 2, you will need to clear Metro Stations of either bandits or infected to unlock that location.

Then, from the map, you can hover over the Metro Station and hold down the button prompt to quickly transport yourself to that location.

When you first make your way from Old Villedor to the Central Loop, you unlock the Metro Station the PKs were using in Old Villedor as a fast travel point.

Additionally, as soon as you get control of Aiden in the Central Loop, it’s advisable to unlock the Metro Station at the base of the Fish Eye Canteen so you have a way to quickly return to this common location.

There are Metro Stations in the immediate vicinity of many of Dying Light 2’s main locations like the PK stronghold on The Wharf and The Bazaar.

dying light 2 travel between maps

However, despite the ubiquity of these Metro Stations throughout the city, you can quite happily just get away with using those two - the Fish Eye and Tunnel - then run and glide to where you need to go.

Make sure you do have a fast travel point in both zones on the map however, since some players have reported that if you return to Old Villedor before you unlock a Central Loop Metro Station, you can get pretty stuck without an easy way to get back to where you need to be.

For more on the best ways to experience Villedor, here is our full Dying Light 2 guide .

Dying Light 2: How to Unlock and Use Fast Travel

Image of Jonathan Moore

Dying Light 2 fast travel isn’t available from the start of the game. In fact, you’ll have to play through a good portion of the campaign before you can unlock it and start moving around the open world of Villedor without having to rely solely on your parkour traversal skills.

Fast travel is linked to Metro Stations spread across the map, as well as two Faction Hubs. Some territories and areas have them, while others don’t. Regardless of their locations, though, one is always nearby. This quick Dying Light 2 guide will tell you what you need to do to unlock the fast travel system.

Note: Because of how the fast travel system is related to the game’s story, some slight spoilers follow. For a complete list of Metro Stations, including a map, head over here for more.

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Dying Light 2

You unlock fast travel in Dying Light 2 after the main campaign mission A Place to Call Home . This happens after the power is restored in the Downtown area (southeast of Old Villedor) by activating the Electrical Station in the mission.

Once you arrive in the Central Loop, you’ll notice that the Trinity Metro Station, Downtown Metro Station, and Main Terminal Station (a PK Faction Hub) in Quarry End are highlighted green. That means they are now activated and available for fast travel. Eventually, you will also unlock two more Faction Hubs: one in the Wharf and one in New Dawn Park.

dying light 2 travel between maps

When you hover over the green Metro Station or Faction Hub icons on the Dying Light 2 map , a fast travel prompt will appear on the map itself . The prompt does not show up on the card that appears on the left side of the screen when you highlight the point of interest. You can also fast travel from the map terminals found in each Metro Station, though pulling up the primary map is easier.

You can fast travel from any location at any time save for the epilogue, which is the “point of no return” (don’t worry, you can still play after you beat the campaign).

How to Activate Metro Stations for Fast Travel

Before you can fast travel to different territories in Dying Light 2 , you’ll have to unlock Faction Hubs through the story automatically and other Metro Stations by traveling to them on foot or with the paraglider. Metro Stations are activated by restoring their power .

In boroughs that either do not have an Electrical Station or in which you haven’t yet activated the area’s Electrical Station, you must manually activate the power to each Metro .

There is always a terminal behind a locked door that must first be flipped, then generators in the Metro Station basement that must be powered on. These “puzzles” are straightforward and have objective markers to follow. Each basement is set up exactly the same way, just with the generators in slightly different locations. There will always be chemicals, so be careful!

Those fast travel locations marked with a blue moon symbol and say to come back at night contain zombies/Infected and act similarly to Dark Hollows and GRE Quarantine Zones. Any others are occupied by Renegades and can be taken during the day or night.

You can’t fast travel while in combat or when your immunity is low.

And that’s all you need to know about fast travel in Dying Light 2 . It’s a relatively uncomplicated process, but activating it takes time and isn’t available until almost halfway through the game. For more tips, consider heading over to our DL2 guides hub .

How to Fast Travel in Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 review

Wondering if you can fast travel in Dying Light 2 , and how to do it? Here’s everything you need to know.

Dying Light 2 ‘s world is so big that getting around on foot – no matter how fun parkour is – can be a chore. And so, the ability to quickly skip to from one area to another is a lifesaver. Thankfully, Dying Light 2 does have fast travel, but it’s fairly limited, you’ll have to work for it, and it doesn’t unlock until you’ve already put several hours into the game.

Fast travel in Dying Light 2 first becomes available when you leave Old Villedor for the city’s Central Loop. For us, that was around ten hours into the game. So, if you’re still in the early sections of Old Villedor, bad news; your only option is to keep jumping around on foot.

When fast travel does eventually unlock, it allows you to travel between Metro stations on the map. Instantly, you can travel between the Central Loop and Old Villedor, which is handy if you want to go back to complete any missions there.

To fast travel, then, simply open up your map by heading to the main menu (view on Xbox, touchpad on PlayStation) then toggling across to ‘Map’ with your left shoulder buttons. Any fast travel points will be marked on your map with a white “>>>” symbol. Select one and hold down A to fast travel to it.

If you want more fast travel points, you’ll have to unlock them. That means reclaiming Metro stations which are either overrun with zombies or being used by human enemies as a hideout. You’re going to have a fight on your hands either way.

Dying Light 2 Fast Travel: How And When You Can Start Using It

For an open-world game, you need to wait a surprising number of hours before fast travel is made available to you.

By Mark Delaney on February 2, 2022 at 4:48PM PST

Dying Light 2 is built on its foundation of parkour tricks and maneuvers that will have Aiden scaling skyscrapers in ways series fans have never seen before. But sometimes, you may want to skip all that in favor of fast travel. Open-world games like this can have such massive maps that even the fun of traversal can feel secondary to getting from mission to mission at times. Fast travel arrives later than you may anticipate in Dying Light 2, so here's when you can expect to start using it, as well as how to solve the platforming puzzles related to using it.

How to fast-travel in Dying Light 2

Maybe the next windmill, side quest, or Inhibitor would just be better off completed in a hurry, rather than you needing to stylishly shimmy over to it on the other side of Villedor. In those cases, you'll want to fast-travel to a Metro Station, as indicated on your map with a train symbol. The game is split into two massive maps, Old Villedor and Central Loop, and though you'll see Metro Stations around Old Villedor in the early hours, you can't use them until much late, once you get to Central Loop.

In a typical playthrough, you'll get to Central Loop about 10 hours into the game , though you could get there sooner if you stay on the critical path. Shortly after you arrive, you'll be given a mission to clear out the Metro Station near the Fish Eye--a public gathering space for Villedorians. This mission acts as the introduction to unlocking fast travel points.

Fast-traveling in Dying Light 2 comes later than you might expect and not without a test of your willpower.

In Dying Light 2, you can't just discover a Metro Station to make it a fast-travel point , you'll need to solve its dangerous puzzle before you can use it. Thankfully, each Metro Station follows a similar structure, so we'll use one example below to help you understand how they work.

First, descend into the subway and follow the on-screen marker (an orange circle) to the initial power box. You may first need to clear out some infected or renegades. Interact with it and you'll find several new icons on your UI, all pointing to a floor below you. Descend the nearby elevator shaft to head into the basement and prepare to swing, jump, and wall-run to each of these power boxes, interacting with each of them.

Note that the floor in these areas is often covered in the same yellow toxins that will quickly kill you above ground too, so be careful with that. The point is to treat Metro Stations like a game of Floor Is Lava, never hitting the ground if you can help it--these get much easier as you unlock more parkour skills.

Revitalize Villedor one dark, decrepit basement at a time.

Once you've flicked on all power boxes, you'll get one last prompt to signal the newly functional elevator. It'll bring you back upstairs to the initial power box and a message on-screen will warn you that turning it on will remove all unclaimed loot in that space, so use this time to open any other trash bins, backpacks, and lockboxes as needed. Once you activate that power box, the Metro Station will be up and running, permanently available as a fast-travel location.

With that, you can travel from A to B not so stylishly, but definitely much faster. Fast-travel in Dying Light 2 also doesn't simulate travel time, so if you're hoping to get someplace before the much scarier nighttime portion of the game, you need not calculate how much of your daylight fast travel will burn--it doesn't burn any! For more on Dying Light 2, here's how to upgrade weapons , and how to find the all-important Inhibitors .

Dying Light 2: How To Fast Travel

Getting around in Dying Light 2 is so much easier with the fast travel system, but first, you need to unlock it. Here's what you need to know.

Quick Links

How to unlock fast travel in dying light 2, how to fast travel, how to unlock metro stations.

While it's fun to parkour on rooftops and glide around in the massive open-world of Dying Light 2 , sometimes you just want to get to your destination fast. However, the ability to fast travel won’t be available right away as you’ll need to progress to a certain point in the story first . Luckily, you won’t have to do a lot of running back and forth between the quest locations within the first area of the map.

RELATED: Dying Light 2: How To Get A Bow

Depending on how you play the game, it may take you several hours before you get to the quest that unlocks Dying Light 2’s fast travel system . Having said that, you can't just open up the map and wish yourself to a random point on it. Have a look at our guide below and find out everything you need to know about Dying Light 2’s fast travel mechanics.

Be it day or night, there is always a constant threat of infected and other humans in Villedor, where the game takes place. The fast travel is unlocked once you reach The Central Loop and complete the quest "Let’s Waltz!" but at that point in the story, there’ll be only a limited number of places acting as fast travel spots.

You must capture the metro stations scattered throughout Villedor in order to unlock more locations for fast traveling . You can also fast travel to The Central Terminal, and The Peacekeeper’s main HQ . The game doesn't allow you to fast travel to safe houses or Nightrunner’s Hideouts.

Fast traveling in Dying Light 2 is pretty much identical to most other games. All you need to do is open your map, find a legend icon that has three white arrows pointing to the right, hover over the icon, and hold your fast travel button . There's no loading time if you’re playing the game on a next-gen console or a PC with an SSD.

It’s not always the smartest decision to make the journey on foot, and after you reach The Central Loop —the second area in the game— you’ll want to capture a few metro stations as soon as possible that act as fast travel locations. They appear as “?” icons on the map until you discover them , which can be done either by being near them or using your trusty binoculars.

You can find metro stations by climbing to a high spot with a clear view. From there, use your binoculars and look for a red metro sign . They’re usually easy to catch, plus, your binoculars can spot them even through buildings.

Metro stations are either controlled by bandits or they’re full of infected . You don’t have to kill enemies to capture these fast-travel locations. All you need to do is to find the main switch in the electrical room and turn it on , but keep in mind, some stations will require you to activate the emergency generators first.

Make sure to loot all you can first, once you capture a metro station, all the loot inside will disappear . It will be a riskier adventure, but there’s always some high-quality loot waiting for you in the most dangerous places of Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 How to Fast Travel – All Metro Station Locations

Learn where and how you can fast travel in Dying Light 2. Includes the locations of Metro Stations in the game.

Dying Light 2 features fast travel mechanics in its open world. However fast travel is something players will have to unlock. Learn how to fast travel in Dying Light 2.

The only way to fast travel in Dying Light 2 is by liberating Metro Stations scattered across The City. Unlike other open world games which let you fast travel by simply looking at a location in your map, you’ll have to find these subways in The City.

Early on in the game before you’ve infiltrated the Peacekeepers, you will not be able to access these subways. You’ll come across them on the open world but they’ll be boarded up until you progress enough into the story. In fact, it’ll be quite a few hours into the game before you can even access fast travel.

How to Fast Travel in Dying Light 2

To fast travel in Dying Light 2 open your map in the Player Menu and hover over the Metro Station located in every district of Villedor then press and hold square to fast travel. You can only fast travel to Metro Stations and nowhere else in the game.

  • Open the Player Menu via the Touchpad (PS4, PS5), View button (Xbox One, Xbox Series), or the corresponding button on PC.
  • Select the Map.
  • Choose which Metro Station you want to Fast Travel.
  • Press and hold Square (PS4, PS5), the X button (Xbox One, Xbox Series), or the corresponding button on PC.
  • After a short loading, you should appear in the Metro Station safe zone of your choice.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to fast travel in the beginning of Dying Light 2. You’ll have to finish the first portion of the game first. Check below for details on how to unlock fast travel in Dying Light 2.

After finishing the Let’s Waltz! story quest you can finally get inside Metro Stations by jumping over the entrance blockade. Here’s how to find all of them and how to liberate each.

Metro Hayward Square - Center of Saint Paul Island Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro Hayward Square – Center of Houndfield

You’ll have to power up this Metro Station. You may find it during free roam boarded up early in the game. But you can’t access it until after the Let’s Waltz! story quest.

Main Terminal Station - Center of Quarry End - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Main Terminal Station – Center of Quarry End

This is a Peacekeeper settlement. Part of the main story missions. You don’t need to power this up to use it for fast travel.

Metro Downtown Court - West of Downtown - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro Downtown Court – West of Downtown

Part of the main story, this is the very first Metro Station you unlock. You’ll unlock this fast travel location shortly after emerging from the Let’s Waltz! mission.

Metro Newalls Crossing - Center of New Dawn Park Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

The Metro Station is just under the Fish Eye Canteen settlement. Very convenient for quick access to a bed and supplies.

Metro Waterside is in the center of The Wharf just at the coast before you hit the ocean.

PK Floating Fortress - North of The Wharf Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

PK Floating Fortress – North of The Wharf

The flagship of the Peacekeepers. Unlike subways you don’t need to activate generators. You can automatically fast travel here after you’re invited by Jack Matt. It has its own metro station below which you’ll be given access to.

Metro King William Bridge - South of Muddy Grounds Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro King William Bridge – South of Muddy Grounds

You can find this Metro Station at the bottom of the region. Unlike other Metro Stations, King William Bridge doesn’t have any blockade at the entrance. Renegade forces are also occupying it instead of Infected.

Unlike other Metro Stations, you can safely raid this fast travel subway during the day.

Metro VNC Tower - West of Garrison Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro VNC Tower – West of Garrison

This Metro Station is guarded by Renegades. No need to individually turn on generators. Just defeat the Renegades and turn on the switch to unlock this as a fast travel location.

Metro Cathedral - Center of Saint Paul Island Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro Cathedral – Center of Saint Paul Island

Located to the right side of the cathedral in the center of the island this Fast Travel is infested with Infected this time and not Renegades.

Metro South Loop - Southwest of Lower Dam Ayre Map - Dying Light 2 Metro Stations Location

Metro South Loop – Southwest of Lower Dam Ayre

This Metro Station is populated by Renegades. Defeat them and turn on the power to unlock this fast travel location. You’ll have to turn on the emergency generators at the bottom first though.

For every Metro subway you unlock for fast travel you’ll be rewarded with an Inhibitor you can invest into your health and stamina. They’re usually found in GRE containers scattered all over The City in Dying Light 2. Check our guide for Dying Light GRE containers locations to find out where they are.

Dying Light 2: How To Fast Travel

Fast travel isn't available from the start in Dying Light 2, but here's how and when it unlocks.

As with its predecessor, Dying Light 2 Stay Human allows players to traverse its open world with the kind of fluidity and speed that's often lacking in open-world games like Far Cry. This is thanks to the game's Parkour mechanics and how well they work in conjunction with the environment. Even the paraglider that unlocks later on in the game makes traversal a breeze in Dying Light 2 .

RELATED: Dying Light 2: How To Play Co-Op And Invite Friends

However, even with this in mind, Dying Light 2 is a step up in every way, but it's a big game with a large map that provides the kind of verticality and density that compares to the classic Assassin's Creed series. Only this time the densely packed city is crawling with undead creatures that only get deadlier at night. So activating and making use of the game's fast travel feature will be high on the agenda.

Unlocking Fast Travel

Activating Dying Light 2 's fast travel feature won't be unlocked until the player reaches the Downtown area . This means that it won't unlock until around 8-12 hours into the game's main story mode.

The Downtown area contains Metro Stations and some will need to be cleared out of zombies before they can be activated.

There are 9 Metro Stations to unlock in total, but the first two stations called Holy Trinity and Downtown Court will unlock automatically after completing the " Let's Waltz " story quest.

This will allow the protagonist to travel between two districts with ease. Here are the steps to unlock the game's first Metro Stations:

  • Begin the "Let's Waltz" quest by going to the Dynamo Car Factory.
  • Complete the story of the mission without forgetting to collect the bow .
  • With the mission completed, Aiden will find himself in the Central Loop.
  • Open up the map and the Holy Trinity and the Downtown Courtroom will be available for fast travel.

Unlocking The First Station

With seven more Metro Stations to unlock, it can be a time-consuming endeavor. However, having as many fast travel points available as possible will make traversing the map so much easier.

The first station that one should unlock is the Hayward Square Metro . This can be found in Downtown Central Loop and is marked on the map in white. The entrance is boarded up, and the underground station is packed with zombies that need to be cleared out, but the rewards make it worthwhile.

It's up to the player if they want to make it their mission to clear out the stations first or unlock them as they go. But be prepared for quite a challenge as the undead will attack in large numbers causing problems within a confined space. Keep in mind, however, that Dying Light 2 is a game that's designed to be played with parkour being one of its biggest strengths . Don't overuse the fast travel feature and miss out on the make of the game's secrets.

Dying Light 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Dying Light 2 Nightrunners Hideout Safe Zone Metro Station Fast Travel Guide

Dying Light 2: Safe zones and fast travel guide

Image of Jason Rodriguez

Being able to fast travel in Dying Light 2 won’t be possible at the start, but you’ll unlock it eventually. As for safe zones, these tend to dot the landscape. The most common factor is that these will always have UV lamps, staving off Aiden’s infection and scaring away infected when it’s nighttime. Here’s our Dying Light 2 guide to help you with Metro Station fast travel locations, Nightrunner Hideouts, and other safe zones.

Note: For more information, check out our Dying Light 2 guides and features hub .

Dying Light 2 safe zones and fast travel guide – Nightrunner Hideouts and Metro Stations

Types of safe zones.

Nightrunner Hideouts are the most common safe zone in Dying Light 2 . You’ll find these on rooftops or inside abandoned buses. They’d normally have a player stash (which is somewhat useless), and a bed (so you heal up or switch between daytime and nighttime). However, before you can use these fixtures, you’ll need to activate the nearby generator by mashing the “F” key. Once that’s done, the UV lamp will be powered up. This spot will also act as a spawn point in case you die in a nearby location.

Note: Other types of safe zones include windmills (since they’d be controlled by a faction once you power them up), and infrastructure facilities (once they’ve been assigned to a faction). There are also regular bases that belong to a faction by default, as well as bandit camps that you’ve cleared.

Unlocking fast travel in Dying Light 2

To be clear, though, fast travel in Dying Light 2 is only possible from one Metro Station to another. This mechanic is unlocked at the start of A Place To Call Home, a main story mission that occurs once you’ve reached the Central Loop (i.e., the halfway point of the game). This mission gives you access to Metro: Downtown Court in the Downtown district. It will also unlock the Main Terminal Station (Quarry End), which you’ve been to before. Moreover, the PK Floating Fortress (The Wharf) and Holy Trinity (near The Bazaar) will become available later in the campaign.

Apart from the four examples I mentioned, you can find seven additional Metro Stations or fast travel points in Dying Light 2 . The difference is that you need to put in more effort to make the rest available for use.

Dying Light 2 Nightrunners Hideout Safe Zone Metro Station Fast Travel Guide 1a

Before you head over to those other subways, there are some key mechanics to consider:

  • These locations are populated by either Renegade bandits or undead zombies. If you’re facing the latter, you have to enter when it’s nighttime as it’s a Dark Zone. That means there will be a lot of infected during the day, but most of them will be dozing off at night.
  • In the subway area, you can either eliminate hostiles or sneak around to avoid them. Your goal is to reach the door that leads to the power room and open it with a lockpick .
  • Flip the switch, and you’d be tasked with jumping down the elevator shaft that leads to the basement.

Note: It’s possible for a Metro Station to get its power activated just by flipping the switch. But, this is a fairly rare occurrence. Most of the time, you’ll need to find the other generators (as detailed below).

Dying Light 2 Nightrunners Hideout Safe Zone Metro Station Fast Travel Guide 2

Once you’re in the basement, you’ll notice that the floor is covered in chemicals. Try to avoid wading at ground level or your character’s immunity will drop.

The goal now is to find the generator switches and interact with them (there are around four to five per location). Simply check your screen for the circular icons, and use your parkour skills to traverse the area.

When that’s done, go back to the elevator and ride it back to the terminal. You can then flip the switch to turn that place into a fast travel point in Dying Light 2 .

Dying Light 2 Nightrunners Hideout Safe Zone Metro Station Fast Travel Guide 3

Inhibitors in Metro Stations

Before you activate the switch, you’re warned that all the loot in the vicinity will disappear. However, you’ll always find at least one Inhibitor waiting for you in your newly-furnished safe zone/sleeping area. These Inhibitors are used to upgrade your health or stamina, so you can obtain better combat skills and parkour skills .

Dl2sth Fsfz Nhd Gd 2a

“Tickets, Please” achievement

One last thing, there’s an achievement called “Tickets, Please,” which requires you to use a Metro Station to fast travel in Dying Light 2 . Simply opening the world map won’t do. Instead, you should teleport to any subway and, upon spawning, you’ll find a map of the transit system. Press “F” to interact with it, then select a different subway terminal and hold “F” to travel there. This will net you the achievement.

how to fast travel

Dying Light 2: How to Fast Travel

Image of Alex Gibson

Techland’s new RPG perhaps isn’t the largest open world you will have played in terms of landmass, but the sheer density and scale of its verticality mean that moving from point to point on foot can take much longer than it would in other similar-sized maps. Here’s how to fast travel in Dying Light 2 if you’re unsure.

How to Fast Travel in Dying Light 2

dying light 2 fast travel

Dying Light 2’s parkour is super fun, and getting around quickly is made easy by a generally well-designed map that allows you to traverse smoothly. In combination with the paraglider you get later in the Downtown area, it’s not too strenuous to move long distances manually.

Still, as mentioned above, it can take a lot of time given how dense the world is. That’s where fast travel comes in handy; unfortunately, it isn’t unlocked until about 10 hours into the game when you arrive in Downtown. From then on you’ll discover that Metro Stations are used to move quickly from area to area.

There are a handful scattered around Downtown, and while some are available from the get-go, others require you to venture inside and activate manually by switching on several generators. Of course, these areas are typically full of zombies and renegades, so be prepared for a fight!

Once you have a fast travel location unlocked you simply open the map and select the location using the button prompt (as pictured above). You can fast travel from any location.

That’s everything you should need to know about how to fast travel in Dying Light 2 . For more tips and tricks on the game, do be sure to check out Twinfinite’s detailed wiki page . You should also see some related content below that may prove useful.

If you can’t find an answer to a specific question you have, though, always feel free to reach out in the comment section below and we’ll do our best to lend a hand.

Dying Light 2 How to Reach 2nd Map Central Loop

February 2, 2022 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Dying Light 2 Stay Human (DL2) is split into two maps: Old Villedor & Central Loop.

You start out in Old Villedor. You gain access to the world map after the prologue, until then the menu option for it will be grayed out. You will notice there’s a 2nd map when you scroll to the south-east (bottom right).

Here’s how you can reach the 2nd map “Central Loop”, which is where the skyscrapers are and you can fly around with the Paraglider there:

  • Finish the 10th Main Story Quest “Let’s Waltz”.
  • This will automatically bring you to the 2nd map “Central Loop”.

As part of the story you’ll be going through a tunnel section in the south of Old Villedor. This is closed off until the story makes you go there, can’t go there any earlier. This will then lead you to the 2nd map.

Use this Dying Light 2 Villedor map so that you can see what there is to explore

Dying Light 2 map

The Dying Light 2 map is pretty big, unsurprisingly, since it takes place in an entire city. However, you'll be several hours in before you see all the major areas of Villedor, or even longer depending on how much time you spend in the opening area. The Old Villedor starting location feels pretty big to begin with as it is, and has loads of things to do in it. However, when you reach a crucial point in the Dying Light 2 story you'll be able to leave this initial region and move on - opening up the full map, which more than doubles the size of your zombie-infested playground.

So, if you want to prepare yourself for the scale of what you're about to face, or just want to have a look, here's the full Dying Light 2 map. This is what the game looks like, post credits, with a good deal of side quests and activities done. I'm currently about 100-ish hours in, and there's still plenty to do. You might find that the Dying Light 2 length varies based on your playstyle.

Full Dying Light 2 map

dying light 2 map

At the start of the game, you'll be confined to the top left area of the Dying Light 2 map. Those four regions are full of activities and quests to find, and you can easily spend hours in there alone. However, you'll want to move on eventually as a lot of the best Dying Light 2 gear is unlocked in the second, bigger region. When you eventually reach this main area you'll unlock a paraglider, for example, so you can fly from roof to roof. There's also a grappling hook later on down the line.

In terms of differences, the main one is the start area only has two or three storey buildings. When you get to the second area you'll find skyscrapers thousands of feet high. Climb them and you can see for miles, and fly for as long as you can hold on with the paraglider. There's an in-game pair of binoculars as well, that you can use to scout the area and add markers to your map, which is one of a few good Dying Light 2 tips - it makes it easier to get a lay of the land and see what's out there, without having to discover everything manually.

There is also fast travel, helpfully, which is eventually unlocked once you're more settled in the world. It lets you travel between a few bases and some Metro stations that have to be unlocked first - you might have to turn some generators on, or remove enemies that have taken over, but before long you should have somewhere you can travel to in every area. Look at these Dying Light 2 fast travel and Metro locations to help you get access to fast travel points quickly.
