Grapeland Texas

The City of Grapeland is located in Houston County Texas on U.S. Highway 287, Texas Highway 19 and FM227, and is north of Crockett and south of Palestine .

Grapeland is centrally located and easily reached from Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. There is much to see and do year-round while enjoying the small town charm and hospitality.

The Grapeland area was originally settled about 1850, and the town was founded 1872 by International & Great Northern Railway investors. The Grapeland Post office opened on May 26, 1873.

Houston County Lake is located a short distance southwest of Grapeland. The lake covers about 1,500 acres and offers the opportunity for near-by camping, fishing, and boating. 

The Grapeland City Hall is located at 202 South Main Street. Phone 936.687.2115.

The Grapeland Safari features over 400 zebras, kangaroos, camels, turtles, emus and other animals roaming freely on 60 acres, all visible from the comfort and safety of your own vehicle.

The drive-thru safari is privately-owned, by the Herring family, and been in operation since 2005. There is also a petting zoo and gift shop.

The Safari is located at 13440 U.S. Highway 287 N, Grapeland, Texas, 75844, on the east side of the highway. Phone 936.687.5292.

Houston County’s biggest event each year is the Grapeland Peanut Festival, a fun-filled day of activities taking place throughout Grapeland. It is a harvest celebration in October to highlight Grapeland’s agricultural industry – past and present.

Coincident with the Grapeland Sandies’ homecoming football game the weekend is filled with sports, dancing, parade, festival, and the Queen’s Coronation and Pageant. This year October 20th marks the 62st celebration of this event. Come celebrate with a carnival, arts & crafts, and food.

Grapeland Drive Thru Safari on the northern edge of Grapeland is a must stop for the young and old alike. It features a drive through a fenced natural environment for many rare species. Open everyday 9 a.m. until dark.

NV obtains new photos and videos of the elimination of traitorous ex-MP Ilya Kyva near Moscow

Photos and videos of the elimination of pro-Russian ex-MP Ilya Kyva in a Moscow suburb were obtained by NV from sources in Ukraine’s SBU Security Service on Dec. 11.

This special operation was meticulously planned and successfully executed, the SBU informant confirmed.

In one imgae, Kyva's lifeless body can be seen in the snow surrounded by bloodstains. The location where “deserved punishment awaited the traitor” is near the place that Kyva filmed many anti-Ukrainian videos, sources say.

Kyva was a high-priority target, SBU said. His daily routines, movements, and habits were extensively studied in the operation. Despite strong security, the SBU managed to eliminate him just outside Moscow.

“This [Kyva’s elimination] serves as a signal to all traitors and military criminals who have sided with the enemy. Remember: Russia will not protect you. Death is the only prospect awaiting enemies of Ukraine,” SBU Chief Vasyl Malyuk said.

Ukraine’s SBU eliminated Kyva in a special operation in Moscow Oblast on Dec. 6, said NV sources in the intelligence service.

Kyva's “bloodied body”, discovered with a shot through the head, was found in the park of an elite club hotel in the Moscow region on Dec.6, Russian propaganda Telegram channels reported.

Kyva was shot with an unidentified firearm and died from the injuries on the scene, the Russian Investigative Committee claimed.

Kyva had fled to Spain ahead of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He then appeared in Russian propaganda broadcasts in Moscow, actively spreading lies about Ukraine. Kyva also sought “political asylum” and citizenship from the enemy aggressor.

The Ukrainian parliament stripped Kyva of his MP status in March 2022, charging him with treason. He was additionally charged with publicly calling for a violent change in the constitutional order and propaganda on behalf of the aggressor state in Aug. 2023.
