Moab Hummer Tours Reviews

Had a phenomenal hummer tour in moab with shad., hummer tours are "fun for everyone".

Hummers in Moab

Humvees and Slickrock

1983 is the year the "Humvee", or "High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles" were put into production - and 9 years later released to the public as "The Hummer". During that time the economy of Moab, Utah transitioned from busted uranium mining to bustling recreational tourism. You might say it was a different kind of rock that attracted the new crowd: Slickrock.

Slickrock, slippery to a horse's hooves, was found to be exceptionally "grippy" for rubber tires. First it was the "Fat Tires" of motorbikes & new-fangled mountain bikes, then the Hummer, and now all sorts of 4-wheeled "rock crawlers".

Frequently Asked Questions about Moab Hummer Tours

Our hummer safaris do not take place in either of the nearby national parks. Instead, you will be exploring the world-famous “Hell’s Revenge” off-road trail in the nearby Sand Flats Recreation area located just east of downtown Moab.

We highly recommend guests use our restrooms before departing on their hummer tour as there are no toilets available once on the trail.

This tour will include many large slickrock fins and several viewpoints over Moab and the Colorado River. Several of these fins and overlooks may have sudden drop-offs on either side. However, you are not required to exit the vehicle during the tour. If you are comfortable with heights while inside the vehicle, you should be just fine on our Hummer safaris.

Our hummer safaris are best described as slow moving roller coasters. While slow moving, they can still be quite bumpy. We don’t recommend hummer tours to guests with back issues. There will also be several stops to view scenic overlooks during the tour; however, you are not required to exit the vehicle during these stops.

THE EXPERIENCE

There’s a reason that the U.S. Army outfits its fleets with Humvees: They’re bold, they’re versatile, and they’re badass. The M998 Humvee is military-grade only, but the H1 Hummer is the closest a civilian can get. Our H1 Hummer Tours Phoenix / Scottsdale are perfect for the rough-and-tumble tourist who prefers an up close and personal experience. Mud, dirt, water, rocks—it’s all the same for the H1 Hummer. Coast along desert trails high above the ground, confident in the 4 x 4’s ability to conquer any terrain it encounters.

Apache legend claims that the entrance to the underworld lies somewhere in the Superstition Mountains. Other myths allege that deep in the heart of this craggy range lies a gold mine full of treasure. Come with us on one of our H1 Hummer Tours Phoenix / Scottsdale to find out whether that’s true on the Bulldog Canyon trail, which winds through the Sonoran Desert, offering panoramic views of the Superstition Mountains. The land in this part of Arizona is wild and untamed, but rugged landscape is no problem when you’re in the backseat of a H1 Hummer.

Sit down, buckle up, and hang on for nearly 20 miles of breathtaking desert vistas. One of the most beautiful characteristics of the Sonoran Desert is its versatility: One minute you’ll be hurtling along a dusty desert trail, only to find yourself fording a 2.5-foot-deep river the next. Don’t worry, the H1 Hummer isn’t afraid of a little water. Are you?

Explore iconic desert destinations at your own pace

Sit in the Driver’s Seat of the legendary Military Hummer

Turn heads on the Las Vegas Strip

Vegas Self-Guided Tour

If you're looking for an exciting adventure in Las Vegas, a full-day self-guided Hummer tour is a perfect choice. This self-guided tour allows you to explore Las Vegas and its incredible surrounding areas at your own pace in the driver's seat of a premium Hummer.

The Hummer is a legendary vehicle that’ll turn heads as you cruise underneath thousands of neon lights, taking in the many sights of Sin City , including some of the city's most iconic hotels, casinos, and attractions. Not to mention, you’ll have access to endless entertainment options, including everything from high-end restaurants and luxury shopping to popular shows and performances. However, When you want to step away from the glitz and glamor of The Strip, there are plenty of adventures to discover outside of Las Vegas Boulevard.

One popular option is Mount Charleston . Mount Charleston is a stunning mountain located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. With an elevation of over 11,900 feet, it is the highest peak in the area and offers visitors a chance to escape the heat of the desert and enjoy a cooler mountain climate. The mountain is home to a variety of hiking trails, campgrounds, and picnic areas, as well as the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, making it a popular year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

If you’ve got a taste for modern art, visiting the Seven Magic Mountains may be great for you and your party. Seven Magic Mountains is a breathtaking art installation located in the South Las Vegas desert. Created by renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, the installation consists of seven towering stacks of brightly colored boulders, each over 30 feet tall. The colorful rocks stand out starkly against the barren desert landscape, creating a stunning contrast of natural beauty and human creativity. The installation has become a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a unique and inspiring experience that is both visually striking and thought-provoking. As visitors explore the installation and contemplate its meaning, they are invited to reflect on the relationship between nature, art, and humanity and to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world around us.

These are just a few of the endless options you have with our full-day self-guided tour. However, no matter what you choose, our Hummers are guaranteed to get you to your destination so that you can expect a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Enjoy a relaxing Hummer tour as the sun moves over the Grand Canyon and the colors change throughout the day.

Take a full photo tour of the new electric Hummer, which costs $113,000, weighs 4.5 tons, and can drive sideways

  • The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a whole new kind of electric vehicle.
  • Much like the old gas-guzzling Hummer it's based on, it's big, brash, expensive, and flashy.
  • I drove the $113,000 electric pickup and saw all of its bold styling and interesting features firsthand.

Electric cars now come in all shapes and sizes — and you don't need to buy a slinky Tesla or an egg-shaped Nissan if you want to go green.

One new model exemplifies this new world better than any other: The 2022 GMC Hummer EV.

hummer car tour

The new pickup truck may run on clean electricity, but it's far from a rational, zero-emission choice like a Chevy Bolt or a Nissan Leaf.

It eats those cars for breakfast.

Instead, the new Hummer EV — like the old one — is huge, expensive, in-your-face, and not particularly efficient.

And then there's the front trunk, a cavernous bonus area perfect for anything you don't want to get rained on.

  • angelaward2021 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing Tour well worthwhile experience We were recommended to tour with Randy at Big Horn Tours. We were not disappointed!! Our young children also thoroughly enjoyed the day and took in all our tour guide had to tell us. The hummer was super cool and added to the experience. Would highly recommend and was definitely worth the money. We actually travelled January 2019. Read more Written March 12, 2023
  • Gordon W 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fond Memories From 2013 We visited June 2013 and it was an unforgettable experience. The host was superb and we had an great mix of tourists: us as Australians, a young German couple from Berlin and a couple from Chicago USA. We had ditched a flight from LV to the canyon in favour of a Hummer tour, and this proved to be far more exciting than a plane trip. The detour through the Mojave and the Joshua trees was one of a kind. If we're not mistaken our tour guide was Bill with a bottomless knowledge of the Lone Ranger TV series. We had so much in common. The stopover at the Hualapai ranch in 40C heat was fabulous. Can't recommend the Hummer tours highly enough. Read more Written August 12, 2022

Our tour guide/driver Brett was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable about the history of Las Vegas and made the trip to the Damn go by so quickly with all of his stories. He went out of his way to make everyone on the excursion feel comfortable and accommodated. I would highly recommend Big Horn Tours and I will def be using them again in the future! • Gabpt 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic Day at Hoover Dam Our tour started with Randy picking us up in the Hummer from our hotel. He was funny and knowledgable and just a great tour guide. We learned about Las Vegas, Boulder City, the dam and other interesting facts during our 45 minute drive to the Dam. Once there we had a really nice tour through the power plant and then had time to walk across the damn, take photos breathe and in the history of the place as well as the and beauty of Lake Mead and the mountains, On our ride back we stopped to take photos of big horn sheep that were grazing in a park, the Randy regaled us with more history on the way back to the hotel. A perfect day! We highly recommend the tour and Randy! Read more Written January 11, 2020

  • JayandAnnie W 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Dam was cool, tour could be better We spent a half-day traveling from Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam with Big Horn. The Dam was amazing and the views were spectacular. Our driver was just okay. He had a lot of knowledge about the dam and Las Vegas, but his talk was very canned and it felt like we were being talked to by a recording. At one point he got off track and repeated about five minutes of his talk, word for word. The 1 hour, 45 minutes at the dam is much to short to explore all the aspects of the site. We completely missed the museum near the memorial due to time constraints. While we would definitely recommend a visit to the dam, another tour company that allows more time at the dam would be a better option. Read more Written January 3, 2020

Alaska Hummer Adventures  Private car service - Indiana Jones Style!

The Alaska Hummer Adventures tour is one of my family's favorites in Ketchikan.  The hardest thing about it is how to describe it!  The down and dirty about the tour is....

YOU choose where you want to go, what you want to do, and how long you want to do it!

hummer car tour

It's...well...whatever you want it to be!  I guess I'll start at the beginning.  The standard Alaska Hummer Adventure Tour is 4 hours and includes the Hummer H2 and a guide.

The price you pay ($689 for 4 hours) is for the vehicle and guide , no matter how many people are in the Hummer, which can hold up to 5 passengers, and includes all park & entrance fees .

Our first impression was it was too expensive.  But after taking the tour, it is easily worth every penny - and more!

But the pricing is second to the incredible service you receive.  The guides are top-notch .  They know everything there is to know about anything you ask.

Trees, shrubs, wildlife, city history, native history, totem pole stories, flora & fauna, geology of the area, hotspots for taking photos , shopping, 'authentic' native or local items , the top spot for fresh Alaskan Salmon & Halibut to ship home, the best restaurants in town, you name it, they know all about it and can take you there!

Again, You choose where you want to go and what you want to do!  The flexibility on this tour is one of the best parts!

Do you want to go sightseeing for 3 hours, and shopping for 1? No Problem!  Have you ever been on a tour where when you get there you think to yourself...Oh, this does not interest me...but I still have to listen to this guy talk for another hour before we can leave.  Not on this tour!   Simply tell the guide you're done....and you can leave as fast as you can get the family (or friends) back into the car.  And that is just one benefit of the Alaska Hummer Adventure tour!

The same goes if it's cold, windy, rainy, sunny, etc.  If you simply want to drive around and see the sights - No problem!   Or on the flip side, do you want to go hiking for 4 hours?  No problem - there is an Alaska Hummer Adventure guide for you that can take you to some incredible hikes on the island.  Would you like to do some Geocaching while in Ketchikan?  There are guides who are avid geocachers!  Whatever your interest, there is a guide for you.

When you book a tour with Alaska Hummer Adventure you're given a Preference Sheet that lists several options such as:

  • Visiting the Totem Pole parks in town:   The tour can go to all of the Totem Pole parks in Ketchikan including Totem Bight State Park , Saxman Native Village , The Totem Heritage center , and (my personal favorite) Potlach Park where we met the local native carver , Brita, and got to see her carving a totem pole - up close and personal, we were able to see all of her tools (many handmade!), ask her questions , and pose for pictures with her!

Potlach Park Totem Park during our Alaska Hummer Adventure tour

  • Wildlife Viewing:  See Bears , Eagles, Eagles Nests, Deer, Sea stars, jumping Salmon , Birds, Sea lions, whales , and more!  The guides do their best to take you to the hottest wildlife viewing areas , at the best times, to find wildlife on the island.  We had a fabulous guide who took us to several spots around town for wildlife viewing.  We went down to the boat launch and were able to see many Eagles in the trees and on the break wall, amazing sea life , including 5 different sea stars and a sunflower starfish !  Then we went out to a different spot and saw bears chasing salmon and sea lions in the cove.  It was an incredible day!

Two eagles - photo taken during the Alaska Hummer Adventures tour in Ketchikan

  • Hikes & beach walks:   There are a ton of hiking opportunities around Ketchikan and the Alaska Hummer Adventure guides can take you on short walks through the rainforest & muskeg , on long strenuous hikes up to incredible lakes , out to the local beaches, or anything in between!  We chose to take a longer hike and were rewarded with incredible views of Silvis lake.  And our guide explained all of the trees, shrubs, berry bushes, geology, & flora & fauna along the way.  I was stunned that she knew so much!
  • Views of the stunning beauty of Ketchikan:   Visit an incredible waterfall , travel up over 1,000ft to Slide Mountain where you are rewarded with an awesome panoramic view of the Tongass Narrows , Guard Lighthouse, & surrounding islands, travel the back streets through town to see how we live in Ketchikan, or stop anywhere along the way.  We were driving along and saw a stunning view of the islands and asked if we could stop real quick - no problem!   Then we went up Slide Mountain and our guide made several stops along the way.  At one point we even got out and went berry picking for Salmonberries, Huckleberries, Blueberries, and even Thimbleberries!   Who knew there were so many berries here!  Up at the top we marveled at the view and our guide explained the history of logging in the area.

Carlanna Lake while on the Alaska Hummer Adventures tour in Ketchikan

  • Historic City Tour: Travel through town and stop along the way to discuss the history and culture in town.  We made several stops on the 'City Loop' and our guide took us to places other tours miss.  We stopped at Creek Street and walked Married Man's Trail, saw the baseball fields where the kids play ball on gravel (ouch!), stopped and wandered through beautiful City Park, drove down the back streets and saw first hand how a lot of Ketchikan is built OVER the water, viewed the many Totem Poles in the downtown area, drove through the world-famous tunnel, saw the many marinas around town, the Coast Guard Station, and a few parks around town.
  • And many more attractions and stops along the way:  You could even choose to go to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center , offering information about Alaska’s wilderness areas, ecosystems, wildlife, natural resources, public lands, and native cultures.   This center is both educational and entertaining.  All of the above attractions are included in the Alaska Hummer Adventures tour.

But did I mention the flexibility of the tour ?  If you want to stop for coffee, no problem.  How about lunch?  Or did you forget something and need to make a quick stop at Wal-mart....you guessed it - No problem!

OH!  And I forgot one important thing.  During the Alaska Hummer Adventures 4 hour tour, you are treated with cold bottled water as well as a wonderful light snack that is perfect to tie you over to your next meal on the ship.

Reservations for Alaska Hummer Adventures

 - Through your Cruise Ship Excursion Desk

 - Through their website!

Their rates are as follows: $689 for a 4-hour tour

This is one tour you definitely won't want to miss!   The company is family-owned and we found our guide absolutely loved her job, which showed on our tour.

They have 5 Hummers available; all different colors - white, yellow, red, silver & gunsmoke blue.  We were thrilled in the Yellow one and gladly gave up our 'golden ticket' so we could ride in it.  The inside of the Hummer is so plush!   There was plenty of room for 5 adults , all of our backpacks, our camera bags, & our purchases throughout the day, and we were told they can even take fold-up wheelchairs .

Umbrellas were provided when it started to rain and the seats had seat warmers!   They even dialed in our favorite music preference.  Doors were opened & closed for us.  This was a first-class tour all the way around.  We started out the day by meeting our guide but ended the day saying goodbye to a friend!

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us and ask about our experiences!  And please tell us about your experiences with the Alaska Hummer Adventures!

ABOUT THE TOUR

This is the best way to see wild ponies and discover some of the most unique sights the Outer Banks have to offer. With new, exclusive access to the Wild Horse Sanctuary, we take you through three distinct ecosystems in search of local wildlife and the Outer Banks Wild Spanish Mustangs on one of our open-air Hummers.

Our 13-passenger, open-air Hummer starts life as a Hummer H1. We then upgrade many of the mechanical components to the military spec equivalents, recondition the engine and drive-train, and extend the frame and body by 2 feet. Our Hummer H1 vehicles have been customized with your safety in mind. All designs have been over-engineered to build the safest and most comfortable ride possible.

  • Seats have seatbelts and restraint systems for child seats.
  • All seats are actual car seats — no boat-style bench seats or plastic bucket seats are used in our vehicles.

An additional upper windshield with a top made with a combination of fine mesh and clear plastic enables occupants a 360-degree view while also providing protection from UV rays and unexpected inclement weather.

After customization, the Hummer is capable of seating 13 passengers with more leg room than any standard SUV. Individual seats that are 21 inches wide (no bench seats), in a stadium seating configuration, offer ultimate comfort and visibility for all.

Please Note: Tour times are departure times. We request that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.

GMC Hummer EV Pickup

What's new for 2024.

Sometime this year GMC is expected to introduce a more affordable version of the Hummer pickup, which will likely still cost north of $85,000. While we await details about that model, the top-spec EV 3X has higher range estimates than the previous model year thanks to a newly available 24-module battery pack. GMC claims the $9995 option increases the truck's peak range per charge to 381 miles .

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup starts at $98,845 and goes up to $106,945 depending on the trim and options.

The Hummer EV 3X costs $8100 more than the EV 2X , but we'd spend that to almost double the horsepower as well as the Watts to Freedom launch-control mode that's sure to impress our friends by enabling rocketship-like takeoffs. The EPA estimates that tri-motor models with the standard battery and 22-inch wheels have a 314-mile range, but a new optional extended-range battery unlocks an estimated range of 381 miles. We'd pass on the bigger pack and instead choose the Extreme Off-Road package. That drops the range estimate to 298 miles but adds beadlock-capable 35-inch mud-terrain tires, beefier axles, locking differentials, added underbody armor, and more camera angles. The separate Off-Road Readiness package adds a full-size spare tire that matches the other wheels and a vertical bed-mounted carrier. To truly enjoy our outdoor adventures, we'd also choose the available removable roof panels.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The Hummer EV currently offers either two or three electric motors. Both configurations offer all-wheel drive; the dual-motor setup has 570 hp and the tri-motor version has 1000 hp. The Hummer EV Edition 1 we tested had the latter, and it rocketed to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds thanks to its Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control driving mode. That makes it one of the quickest pickups we've ever tested . While we were wowed by its acceleration, we were disappointed by its braking performance. Slowing the massive machine to a stop from 70 mph took an extra-long 211 feet, and repeated runs resulted in noticeable brake fade. Yikes. Maneuverability at low speeds is better than expected, a direct result of the rear-wheel-steering system, but once you're up and running the Hummer EV is as unwieldy to drive as other lifted brodozers.

2024 gmc hummer ev edition 1 pickup rear

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Hummer EV pickup's maximum towing capacity is a stout 12,000 pounds, but that requires going with the 570-hp dual-motor powertrain. That exceeds the ratings for the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T , which are rated at up to 10,000 and 11,000 pounds, respectively. However, Hummers with three motors have a towing capacity between 7500 and 8500 pounds. During our towing test pulling a 6100-pound double-axle camping trailer, the range of our Hummer EV dropped to just 140 miles at 70 mph.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The Hummer EV is available with two battery sizes. The standard 20-module pack provides an EPA-estimated driving range of 311 miles for the EV 2X and 314 miles for the EV 3X . The latter can be equipped with a 24-module battery that GMC claims provides up to 381 miles of range. Opting for the Extreme Off-Road package reduces that estimate to 359 miles. The Hummer EV Edition 1 we tested on our 75-mph highway route traveled 290 miles on a full charge. While it reached a peak charging rate of 287 kilowatts while connected to a DC fast-charger, it only averaged 98 kW, and it took more than two hours to charge its battery from 10 to 90 percent. GMC claims the Hummer EV pickup will add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes; we needed about twice as long.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

The Hummer truck's massive weight is the enemy of efficiency. The three-motor model with its standard 22-inch wheels has an EPA-rated 58 MPGe combined. Compare that with the most powerful version of the F-150 Lightning and R1T (both fitted with 22-inch wheels) that earn 66 and 68 MPGe, respectively. For more information about the Hummer EV's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Even though Hummers of yesteryear were mainly SUVs, the Hummer EV takes the form of a crew-cab pickup truck with a five-foot-long bed. Interior materials could be of higher quality considering the Hummer's price tag and its cabin isn't as spacious as GMC Sierra 1500 crew cabs . But the interior can be opened to the elements via optional removable roof panels that reintroduce a T-top–esque design popular in GM sports and muscle cars in the 1970s and 1980s. When in place, the transparent panels are akin to a normal panoramic glass sunroof, but lifting them off and stowing them in the Hummer's front trunk gives the truck a convertible vibe similar to that of the Jeep Gladiator . Inside, several moon-inspired touches—such as a moon-boot footprint on the dead pedal and speaker grilles that show the Sea of Tranquility—serve as not-so-subtle reminders of GM's connection to NASA astronauts and the electrically powered Apollo 15 lunar rover that the company helped engineer.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A large 13.4-inch display serves as the infotainment screen, and there's a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as well. GMC has contracted Epic Games—maker of the wildly popular Fortnite video game—to create the graphics for the Hummer EV's infotainment interface. The high-resolution screen and advanced graphics look great, but we noticed some pronounced lag that suggests the system doesn't have quite the processing power it needs to keep up with the software's capabilities. A host of connectivity features are standard, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and GM's OnStar telematics system.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving mode is a standard feature and we've found it works quite nicely. Less advanced features such as lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring are also included. For more information about the Hummer EV's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

The Hummer EV comes with a similar warranty to other General Motors products, which means three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage.

  • Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Hybrid components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for the first visit

Travel along the same trail the pioneers did on this expert-led tour

By southwest adventure tours | posted - may 5, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., (southwest adventure tours).

Estimated read time: 5-6 minutes

If you've ever wanted to travel the same path Utah pioneers walked and walked and walked, this expert-led tour is one you can't miss. Ride across the plains of the midwest as you listen to professional storytellers Glenn Rawson and Dennis Lyman give in-depth history of the saints as they trekked through the country.

The Mormon Pioneer Trail Tour focuses entirely on Latter-day Saint pioneer history, and your guides are a wealth of knowledge on the topic.

Rawson has spent 15 years immersed in pioneer history. He's made Church history documentaries, authored three (almost four) books, hosted a podcast for three years about pioneer stories and produced 500 to 600 full-production videos about pioneers on the trail as well.

He also knows all about the people who traversed this trail and died along the way. Every mile marks a burial of at least one pioneer — and he can tell you about all of them.

But don't worry — it's not a historical lecture. It's intended to be an edifying and spiritual lecture.

A few of the sites you'll see

The first tour will journey from Salt Lake City to Nauvoo by bus, stopping at all the major sites and landmarks along the trail until you reach Nauvoo. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to journey with two people who know the history of this trail inside and out.

Here's just a snapshot of some of the major sites you'll see on the tour:

  • Journey along the Mormon Trail
  • Fort Laramie National Historic Site
  • Scottsbluff National Monument
  • Chimney Rock National Monument
  • Tour the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters
  • Mark Twain Riverboat Cruise
  • Historic Liberty Jail

When it comes to digging into the history of early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rawson and Lyman are the go-to guys. You might have caught their shows, such as "History of The Saints" or "The Joseph Smith Papers," airing on KSL-TV and BYU-TV. They're all about bringing those early church stories to life for audiences everywhere.

They also happen to be pretty amazing teachers and speakers. These two have been sharing stories and insights for years, whether it's on the airwaves or at events like BYU Education Week. Their passion for storytelling makes history feel real and relatable.

The pioneer trail tour is a chance for you to learn about the settlers' history in an intimate setting. They invite you to join them as you stand in the ruts of the trail — literally and figuratively — while they regale you with stories of the people, places and events that made that part of history sacred.

What's included

Both the East Bound Mormon Trail tour and the West Bound Mormon Trail tour cost $2,360 per person when someone else books with you. To save even more, a group of three costs $2,230 and a group of four is $2,165. There are solo traveler options available, just visit the Southwest Adventure Tours website to learn more.

Here's what's included in the cost of the tour:

  • Comfortable transportation on a luxury bus
  • Six nights hotel accommodations
  • Six breakfasts, two lunches and four dinners
  • A Mark Twain Riverboat Dinner Cruise
  • Gratuities for included meals
  • Gratuities for the bus driver

Airfare is not included.

The East Bound Mormon Trail tour, which departs from Salt Lake and makes its way to Nauvoo, will be June 3-9 and September 14-20 this year. Should you prefer to make your way from Nauvoo back to Salt Lake instead, the West Bound tour is June 9-15 and September 20-26.

More about your guides

In addition to his podcasts and tv shows, Rawson's involvement in the history and teaching of Latter-day Saint history are widespread. With nearly two decades as a seminary and institute teacher, he's a natural educator and captivating fireside speaker. His expertise has graced platforms like BYU Education Week and Know Your Religion, while his stories have touched hearts through radio programs and beyond.

Lyman, Rawson's co-host is the visionary behind breathtaking documentaries on pioneer temples and the co-creator of "History of The Saints." With a rich broadcasting history and a lineage deeply rooted in Latter-day Saint heritage, Lyman brings stories to life through his lens, preserving legacies for generations to come.

Together, Rawson and Lyman weave tales of faith, history, and humanity, leaving an indelible mark on those who listen.

Enjoy an edifying and spiritual experience on the Pioneer Trail

This isn't just like any regular tour. Guided by fun, engaging and knowledgeable tour hosts, you'll walk the same path as those who came before you and hearing their stories will deepen your appreciation for them. There's a good chance you'll never be the same — and that's a good thing.

Short Track Weekly: Carson Kvapil Tops Frontstretch’s 2024 CARS Tour Power Rankings

The CARS Tour will take to the asphalt of Ace Speedway this weekend for its fifth event of the 17-race season. At the quarter-completion mark of the year, that makes this a good time to grade who’s standing out the most during the 2024 season to date.

But first, a few ground rules. The field is stacked with talent, but only mostly full-time drivers will be ranked. CARS Tour stats will weigh more than outside endeavors, which can help highlight someone’s talent but doesn’t affect what they have done within the league itself. Best finishes can also impact the rating, placing them over a higher-positioned driver in the actual points standings due to the perceived higher ceiling.

Honorable Mention:

One driver not included in the power rankings list due to the rules above but definitely showing promise is Connor Zilisch .

Zilisch won impressively at Hickory Motor Speedway in April. But he’s running a partial schedule and finished 15th in his second start of the 2024 season at Orange County Speedway. This would be where the outside success can help elevate a driver’s strength and talent. A win helps, but we need to see more from the young driver to overcome lack of starts, so he’s out of the rankings for now.

Now then, let’s get on to the rankings.

1. Carson Kvapil

Reigning 2023 champion Carson Kvapil tops the charts in the first power rankings of the 2024 season.

Kvapil won the season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park. Despite missing the race at Hickory to run in the Xfinity Series that weekend, the young JRM driver sits a comfortable sixth in the point standings, with two other top-fives in his starts this point.

The defending champ has two wins to his name at the next track on the schedule, Ace Speedway. Kvapil will be looking to add to that tally, build his resume and possibly compete for another championship as the season goes on.

2. Connor Hall

Connor Hall currently leads the point standings. He doesn’t have a win to show for his success just yet, but Hall’s consistency up front has made for a start to the season any driver would want, even with a lack of victories.

The Earle Hall driver hasn’t finished worse than fourth all season, doing so twice – most recently at Orange County despite starting 18th. He came home a season-best second behind Kvapil at Southern National and finished third at New River All American Speedway.

The consistency is there. We just need to see some victories. If Hall can snag his first win at Ace this weekend, he’ll position himself for a move to the top of these rankings.

3. Treyten Lapcevich

Treyten Lapcevich’s story is one of the most unique situations in the CARS Tour garage. He has already earned a NASCAR championship, having triumphed in Canada’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series. Lapcevich won the tour’s 2023 title before moving into the Late Model Stock division for 2024, where he hasn’t disappointed.

With no finishes thus far outside the top 10, the Canadian is up to fourth in points. He’s still searching for his first win, with a best finish of fourth at New River. But Lapcevich is showing he can race near the front and finish inside the top 10 with consistency.

That’s been enough to make him an early title threat and land him third on our list.

4. Brent Crews

Brent Crews is a promising young star and the most recent winner of the season, having triumphed at Orange County. It was his first-career win, a good bounce back after a pair of difficult runs in 2023.

But the highs have been balanced out with a low. Crews finished 16th at New River, a season worst that offset his other two top 10s to open the year. That’s why Crews sits second in the points standings, 15 points behind Hall.

The speed is there. If Crews can add more wins and avoid further setbacks, he could be there at the end to win a championship.

5. Bobby McCarty

Winning matters. That’s why Bobby McCarty has snuck into the top five of these rankings. McCarty got his first win of 2024 at New River after scoring back-to-back top 10’s to start the season.

He would be even further up this list, but McCarty suffered a setback of his own at Orange County, finishing 24th. He currently sits fifth in the standings, 22 points back from Hall.

The 12-time winner only won a single race in 2023, but his only finishes outside of the top-12 were due to various failures beyond his control. McCarty is a veteran of the series known for his consistency and is a threat to win each week.

The Best Of The Rest

6. Mini Tyrell : Points-Third, Best Finish-Second, Worst Finish-18th

7. Ryan Millington : Points-Eighth, Best Finish-Seventh, Worst Finish-22nd

8. Brenden ‘Butterbean’ Queen : Points-Seventh, Best Finish-Second, Worst Finish-19th

9. Katie Hettinger : Points-11th, Best Finish-Sixth, Worst Finish-21st

10. Deac McCaskill : Points- 12th, Best Finish- Third, Worst Finish-23rd

Up Next: The CARS Tour will race at Ace Speedway later today, May 3. Coverage will be available via FloRacing starting at 4:15 p.m. ET.
