Was macht Marilyn Manson 2024? Neues Album oder Tour?

marilyn manson tour deutschland

August in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Brian Hugh Warner, better known as Marliyn Manson is an American musician, songwriter and multimedia artist from Ohio who has worked in fields including music, film and art.

Manson's first exposure to the music industry came whilst he was studying a journalism degree at Broward Community College in Florida, to gain experience he got a job working for 25th Parallel Magazine. He met several musicians including Nine Inch Nails, The Perfect and Trent Reznor who went on to inspire his own musical stylings in the future. Manson began to make music with guitarist Scott Putesky under the name Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids, they later shortened it to just Marilyn Manson and continued to create demos and play small gigs.

In 1993, the band won the attention of Trent Reznor who agreed to release their first album on his label 'Portrait Of An American Family', it was not a commercial success at the time but has now sold over 600,000 copies in the US. This album gained the band a cult following when they toured it around the States. The follow up EP Smells Like Children and their first MTV hit in the form of a cover of Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)' increased their fan base dramatically ahead of their second album release. 'Antichrist Superstar' has sold over seven million copies worldwide to date and became the turning point in the band's career, the combination of Manson as an eccentric frontman and the warped lyrics found in their discography turned their live shows into a cult phenomena which toured all over the world.

Manson has also worked within the film industry, making his debut in 1997 'Lost Highway' that was directed by David Lynch and has had minor roles in a number of films during his career. He is known as a controversial figure in the mainstream media due to his gothic appearance and demonic lyrics which are said to have a negative effect on his young listeners.

I’m so bored with the rain at Red Rocks this year, but evidently it’s not quite done with me yet. The sky pissed down on us while we were tailgating. It pissed down on us while we were in line to get in. And it pissed on us sideways as Cage tried to warm thing up with a spitfire set of hostile hip-hop. God must have gotten on Mother Nature’s bad side though, because everything cleared up for the Antichrist Superstar. As the preacher preached about Satan, the wind removed the elaborate backdrop to expose the rocks behind. “Let me hear you Red Rocks!”, Manson demanded in a surprisingly strong voice against the current of air blowing toward the stage. “Deep Six”, from his best album in ages, kicked things off before Manson thanked Denver for staying loyal. I’ve seen Manson perform a few times since I’ve lived in Colorado and he really has a soft spot for the fans who stuck by him when the zealots were trying to crucify him over the Columbine High School massacre. Of course he had nothing to do with that tragedy, but that didn’t stop the death threats when he’d come through the state. “Disposable Teens” was written about that situation, so it was a fitting dedication to the growing crowd. “mOBSCENE”, “No Reflection” and “Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge” are all great songs as well, and the band performed the hell out of them, but it wasn’t Manson broke a bottle and cut himself with it that I thought the show might be slightly different than those I’ve seen since the Dead to the World Tour in ’96. Sure enough, after giving props to Cage and Twiggy, the stilts came out for “Sweet Dreams”, which was pretty cool, but when he gave flight to “Angel With The Scabbed Wings”, I knew we were going down the path of sweet destruction. - See more at: http://ilistensoyoudonthaveto.com/2015/07/15/the-end-times-tour-red-rocks-07-13-15/#sthash.tUiypQIB.dpuf

I'm aware how easy it would be to assume a "super fan" of Marilyn Manson might say what I'm about to say but, I began to get extremely (and I mean extremely) nervous to do this. Meet him, that is. I purchased VIP meet & greet bc I admire him as an artist but mainly for him as an individual. He's intelligent. He has opinions. He talks & makes music about things that actually matter. He uses his soapbox to say things people should hear. Point being is, I do idolize Marilyn Manson. I do consider him a role model. His music is not what makes me a fan (granted I am a fan of it) but it's who he presents himself to be and how he portrays it. After realizing I know this about myself I didn't know why I would allow myself to do this. Never meet your idols they say. They can let you down. I think Manson *seems* like a great dude but, he IS a rock star. What if he crushes my whole admiration for him by not living up to my expectations? Panic! Well let me tell you.. Marilyn Manson is one guy who is exactly who he says he is. I can shed a tear about how sincere he was and how personal he tried to be with his fans. He EXCEEDED everything I imagined. If it wasn't for management forcing me off of his tour bus, i don't think he would have asked me to leave. I feel so lucky that the person I have been crazy about for idk how many years was exactly "what you see is what you get" and literally left an imprint on me forever. Way to not let a fan down in ANY way, shape, or form, Marilyn Manson. Who would of thought I could be any bigger of a fan than I already was.

Marilyn Manson still rocking cultness and creativity. Though Marilyn Manson's concerts seem best fitted for a small to medium size venue, he nonetheless continues to deliver the goods. I have seen him multiple times in multiple venues and sizes of such, from GA/standing room only in the lobby of another theatre, to midway back in a moderate-sized arena and in the pit almost as close as the stage itself at a summer festival. Theatricality continues to be a vital and integral part of any given set. Not only that, but with something always in the bag of tricks and a campy wardrobe, Manson is never the same man twice. Depending on the theme of the album he tours in support of, he rocks duds to pair with the music in question and also utilises matching stage props. Still, Manson sings a healthy cross section of songs old and new, always with a dark ambiance as is evident in the instrumentation. His backup band has included numerous members coming and going along the way such as Madonna Wayne Gacy aka Pogo on keyboards, drummer Ginger Fish and guitarist John 5, the latter two of whom have also worked with Rob Zombie, and Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna. Regardless, Manson has always handpicked, toured and recorded with a truly star studded cast. Wailing, intricate guitar solos combine with electronics and thumping bass and drum beats, resulting in a satisfying performance!

What a show! As well as being a brilliant and talented artist, he's just such a performer as well. I have like Manson for a while, and I wanted to see him in concert. I expected it to be brilliant, but this exceeded all possible expectations! He began with 'Deep Six', a real belter in its own right. Then, soon after, he played 'mOBSCENE', which sounded fantastic, and was a highlight of the evening. After a few more great songs, came 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)', with Manson on stilts for the entire time- sounded just like the record, if not better. Later on came dope show, with Manson dressed in his typical celebrity outfit, which really rang with the Manson fans. Probably the absolute highlight was 'Anti-Christ Superstar', with Manson on his podium, with a burning book, and with the crowd infatuated with him. At some point in this period of time, Manson has also cut himself with a broken bottle, which was quite the spectacle. Then to finish, a few more songs were played, including 'The Beautiful People', which was both eerie and fantastic. Overall, I would recommend Manson as a performer and as an artist to anyone who likes that genre, and I can assure you, you are very unlikely to be disappointed!

Marilyn Manson is an artist known as much for his controversy as his creativity. A visual performer who has been involved in many forms of the media including music, film and art over his long career. His live show is something of cult legend these days so from the dark opening riffs of 'Angel With The Scabbed Wings', the audience know they are in for a visual experience more than a simple gig.

Manson is known for heavily involving theatrics into his live show and you are never quite prepare for what he'll have lurking in his bag of tricks. He also appears to dress to match the music or album that is promoting at the time. Playing a good mixture of new material, Manson stormed through these songs in quick succession.

Although it was his cult classics such as 'The Beautiful People' and 'The Dope Show' that achieved the greatest reaction from the rabbling crowd. His cover of Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams' was camp, twisted and eccentric, everything Manson is known for. Another great cover of Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus' wraps up a fast paced, but brilliant set.

Marilyn Manson was phenomenal. Not as energetic as the show I went to last year, but I can understand what touring can do in the long run. I was concerned about his health for he was looking rather weak and I was worried that his health problems may be acting up. Hopefully, after this tour, he can take a well deserved rest.

However, he didn't disappoint me when it came to his shock theatrics. From cutting himself to walking on stilts to screaming on the top of his Antichrist Superstar podium, he amazed me and never ceases to. The seat I had was great, and for his closing song (The Beautiful People), he came out into the crowd and he walked right by me and got a nice picture of him.

Despite not playing as many songs as the last show and mostly his metal songs, I will always try to make one show per year. Manson has always been one of my top favorite artists, and always will be. And even if he is in a wheelchair or crawling on the stage, gasping for air, but still singing his heart out and playing occasional instruments, I will always stay a devoted fan.

Having been a fan of Marilyn Manson now for 25 years I first saw Mr Manson at 'The Milton Keynes Bowl' UK big day out back in 1999 and he owned the stage blowing everyone else out of the water,he was on the same bill as 'Metallica' and was way better to be fair.

It was some time before I saw Manson again at 'The Wolverhampton Civic' UK in 2015 and for anyone who tells you that Marilyn's voice is not what it used to be its a out and out lie!

Believe me when I say that man can truly sing and has a rock voice gifted from the gods!,he was well and truly on form and totally rocked! I was in awe of his singing and showmanship, he definetely well and truly owned the stage and brought all his fans together old and young and didn't dissapoint me.

He even played some of the older stuff from the'Antichrist Superstar'era so I was 'hella happy'.

I would give him 1 million out of 10 in terms of a perforamce,go see him you won't be left dissapointed,in fact I was buzzing after his gig for months and can't wait until he plays in my area in the UK again.

Terrible, terrible gig. One of the worst, if not the worst, gig I have ever been to.

I'm a fan of Marilyn Manson's work, especially the last three albums. His live performance, however, leaves much to be desired. Main points below:

#1 Weak voice - raspy, but not in a good way

#2 Obvious animosity between Brian and his guitarist

#3 Pauses between songs, sometimes longer than the songs themselves.

If I'd sum up the pauses between the songs they would last longer than the sum of the songs performed.

#4 Dropping mic after EVERY song

#5 Only played "the best of" set list, pretty much "fan service" and again - not in the good way

#6 Ended abrubtly with no indication

#7 Almost no crowd interaction

Stone Sour was their support and they did a HELL of a job - it felt as though MM was THEIR support, only the perform order was mixed up for some reason. I wanted to see Marilyn Manson for quite a long time and after yesterday I am not willing to see them ever again live.

This was my first time seeing Manson and my first time going to the Rave, I'm not really a big Manson fan but my girlfriend is and we had always heard his shows were very theatrical, so we got VIP Balcony tickets.

Got there early to get a seat, we found some left center stage.

The acoustics of the building naturally make the music echo slightly, which made it difficult to hear when he was talking.

I was somewhat disappointed as to the lack of theatrics that I was expecting.

Weird note though, I took a few videos with my phone and when I got home, I could hear (and sometimes see) better on the video then I could when I was there live.

Glad we got to see him, not sure I'd see him again because I'm not that into it.

As far as The Rave venue, I probably would go if it was the right band to see.

I can see that louder bands in there would, in my opinion, be too loud for the room.

Marilyn Manson is a true rock star if there ever was one! I've been waiting 17 years to finally see him live and he did not disappoint. Yes, I should have seen him many times by now based on my love of his music and the fact that I dressed as him for Halloween when I was 14 years old, much to the dismay of my school teachers. However, it wasn't until last night that I finally saw him live. Good to see that he was able to deliver a great performance even after all of these years on the stage. He preformed many songs from the newest album, Pale Emperor, which I really love and he also preformed the classics. Every few songs the stage would change like acts of a play, as well as his clothes. Each time, representing the different versions of himself over the years based on each album. Screw Madonna, Marilyn Manson is the best at reinventing himself year after year.

This summer, Five Finger Death Punch are stacking up their calendar. In addition to more dates with Metallica, the band has confirmed a headlining tour featuring special guests Slaughter to Prevail. The trek also features the return of shock rock icon Marilyn Manson, who will serve as direct support. The tour begins on August 2 at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania and wraps up on September 19 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, Texas.

A VIP ticket pre-sale begins Monday, March 11 at 10am local time. General tickets go on sale Friday, March 15 at 10am. Fans can sign up for early access to tickets now.

Starting in May, Five Finger Death Punch will embark on a European tour. The headlining shows will coincide with their supporting slots with Metallica. The run begins on 23 May at the OVO Arena in London, United Kingdom and wraps up on 9 July at Barba Negra in Budapest, Hungary. Very special guests for the trek will be Ice Nine Kills.

In 2022, Five Finger Death Punch released their ninth studio album  AfterLife  through Better Noise Music. Produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Churko, three singles from the album – “AfterLife,” “Welcome to the Circus,” and “Times Like These,” all topped the Mainstream Rock Chart. The record hit No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums Chart.

Marilyn Manson hasn’t toured in five years. His last album, 2020’s We Are Chaos , performed well commercially, topping the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums chart and peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The record gave Manson his first No. 1 album in Australia since 1998’s Mechanical Animals . Drummer Gil Sharone, who performed on Manson’s previous two albums – The Pale Emperor (2015) and Heaven Upside Down (2017), left the group in 2019. He was replaced by Black Flag drummer Brandon Pertzborn.

Following the release of the album, Manson was subsequently dropped from his label, Loma Vista Recordings, following sexual abuse allegations from his former fiancé, actress Evan Rachel Wood ( True Blood , Westworld , Frozen II ). Wood, who was in a relationship with Manson from 2007 to 2010, alleged that Manson had “horrifically abused” her throughout the course of their relationship. The couple got engaged in January of 2010, but split a few months later. After Wood made allegations, several other women also came forward and revealed alleged similar experiences.

According to Rolling Stone , Manson filed lawsuits against Wood and another accuser, artist Ashley “Illma” Gore, for defamation and emotional distress, among other complaints. The lawsuits were dismissed, and Manson has been ordered to pay upwards of $500,000 in compensation to Wood and Gore.

Slaughter to Prevail recently unleashed a brand new single, “Conflict.” The track is the Russian deathcore upstart’s first new piece of material in two years. The group released their debut EP,  ‘Chapters Of Misery ‘ in 2016 and followed with their debut full-length album, ‘Misery Sermon’ in 2017. They released stand alone singles “ Agony ” and “ Demolisher ” in 2019 and 2020 respectively, followed by their second full-length,  Kostolom , released in 2021. The album spawned massive hit singles “Baba Yaga” and “Zavali Ebalo.”

They released anti-war anthem ‘1984’ in August of 2022 to oppose Russia’s war on Ukraine. The video for which has racked up 3.1 million views and over 13 million Spotify streams. They followed this with the release of track “ Viking ” in 2023 which was debuted on their US headline tour to much excitement and acclaim from fans. The video for the track currently has 5.8 milllion views and 10 million Spotify streams.

The band are one of the most popular and heavily featured bands within the YouTube ‘reacts’ community, on account of vocalist Alex Terrible’s insane vocal abilities and his own YouTube channel which has over 1.16 million subscribers. To date, the band have clocked up an impressive 971.1 million cross-platform streams.

MARILYN MANSON TOURS EUROPE WITH ENTEC

West london production rental company provides lighting and sound support to american metal icon.

MANSON TOURS EUROPE WITH ENTEC

It has been nearly 30 years since Ohio-born visionary Brian Warner invented his controversial alter ego Marilyn Manson, setting off on a career journey that would help define modern metal through albums including Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, The Golden Age Of Grotesque and Heaven Upside Down . The latter, his 10th and most recent full-length release, emerged halfway through his latest transatlantic tour.

It was the first to be supported by Entec, the west London rental company that provided a comprehensive lighting and sound package for the 20-date European leg, culminating in a show at Wembley’s SSE Arena where guitar-slinging Hollywood legend Johnny Depp made a guest appearance with the band.

Manson’s British fans were lucky to see him at all in December. Towards the end of American leg, after escaping a road crash in Moscow, Manson broke his ankle at a show in Pittsburgh but worse was to come the following night in New York when a 750kg stage prop fell on him, knocking him unconscious and breaking his fibula in two places. Miraculously, he was back on stage within five weeks and able to fulfil his European commitment despite still recovering.

“Although we had pared back a number of the visual gags in favour of a more musically-driven show than he’d had in previous years, Manson’s accident forced us to bring in a number of strategic props, notably the motorised wheelchair in which he starts the show,” explained production manager Matt Doherty. “It’s uncanny how good it looks. When we first brought the wheelchair into rehearsal it just looked like something a paraplegic would use so we got a props guy in L.A. to ‘trick’ it up with a church-style back to it and now it looks ridiculously good. He ‘plays’ it really skilfully and uses it for two songs only because he will never over-do a gag.”

The Heaven Upside Down production was designed by Manson in partnership with Doherty and lighting director Nico Riot of Nantes-based Chirac Design. “Manson is very involved,” insisted Doherty. “He’s a good artist in his own right and he’ll send us pictures of things that we’ll later turn into reality. It involves me running around Los Angeles, bringing back things for him to look at discussing ideas such as kabuki drops. We have 50-odd solenoids running up to seven drops, from simple velvet through to a UV design and one we call the ‘True Detective’ which is his own artwork of him with an automatic rifle.”

Doherty entered Manson’s world in April 2016 and later instigated some changes that took effect for last year’s European summer festival tour. One of those changes was to hire a package from Entec, a company with whom he had developed a relationship while working as Damon Albarn’s PM. He said: “Entec is a great fit for me. I get along with the people very well and maintaining relationships is what it’s all about. I’d spent 21 years running Big Day Out in Australia and wasn’t touring throughout that period. When that festival started to fall over, Craig Duffy threw me a bone by offering me a Damon tour, for which Entec was the provider.

“I’m a supporter of the independent; I really don’t like it when big companies get bigger by eating up smaller firms. Loyalty is a two-way street – if you’re good to your suppliers, they will be good to you, and Entec really have been. I really liked the idea of having lights and sound from a single source, and Entec do that so well.”

Nico Riot had been touring the world with French band Gojira for six years when he was asked to cover six Manson shows last summer, however, Doherty was keen for him to remain permanently. “I thought he was absolutely the man for the job,” the PM commented. “It was the first time that Manson hadn’t come offstage complaining about the lights. He was very happy with the way it all looked and it reinforced my hunch that Nico instinctively knew exactly what Manson needed.”

It was on the summer run that Riot first struck up a bond with Entec lighting crew chief Peter ‘Pepper’ Schofield. On this latest tour, they were joined by Tom Mumby and Darren Hatherley. “Manson is a very clever performer,” said Riot. “He doesn’t want a light show as such. Instead, he will use light as a prop, moving and weaving in and out of beams to create drama.

“This was quite difficult to understand at first because it was so against the grain of what is normally required of a rock’n’roll lighting guy, but I soon realised this is just one of many examples of Manson’s genius. I just have to get inside the song, appreciate what he’s saying, constantly observe what he’s doing and provide the kind of lighting that will complement his movement. If I’ve been using overhead light and then switch to the six [Thomas] PAR 64s on the floor, he will instinctively move towards them, put his face into the field of light and use it to look menacing.”

MANSON TOURS EUROPE WITH ENTEC

Twenty-two Claypaky Sharpys and 12 Philips Vari*Lite 3000 Spots were included on the spec although Riot’s spot use was minimal. “I tend to use the spots more as washes,” he said. “The Sharpys were more important to the design because Manson’s brief prohibits too much movement, so I needed a really good beam that will offered a range of powerful looks.

“Another fixture I love is the Claypaky A.leda B-Eye K20. I have 12 of them in this design; the zoom is brilliant and so is the richness of the colours. I’d used them before and I just had to use it on Manson. When the zoom narrows down, it goes from wash mode to a beam effect and you can control the elements of each of the 37 LEDs precisely. It’s an amazing tool. The show is about Manson, obviously, so the band are in darkness most of the time but I have [14] Martin MAC Aura XBs as side washes for pick-ups during some parts of the performance.”

As well as plenty of traditional Molefays for audience lighting and a battery of Martin Atomic 3000 strobes, an oddball addition to Riot’s spec was the request for a ‘fuzz’ working light that Manson held about his face during his cover of the Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’, against a UV-painted backdrop lit by Altman cannons.

Riot ran the show from a ChamSys MagicQ MQ500 Stadium console, supplied with a wing and a back-up. “I’ve been a ChamSys user for three years,” informed the LD. “MA desks were always the norm for me because so many French venues have them as standard, but when I was touring with Gojira, one of the venues had a ChamSys. I immediately liked its features and since then it’s what I’ve been requesting. It seems to generate interest from other LDs every time I use it on a festival.

“There are 200 universes onboard, you don’t need any nodes and it’s perfect for live busking, which is essential for me on this show. I program with Cue Stack but Manson can be so unpredictable that I have to maintain the freedom to immediately change things and the MQ500 is great for that.”

ON WITH D-SHOW

Since filling the role of FOH sound engineer in late 2006, George Chapman has been virtually glued to the full-size Avid Venue D-Show as his mixing desk of choice. “It was an easy decision because there was already a D-Show in place when I got the gig!” laughed Chapman. “The board accommodated the show very well, not least because at the time it offered the Eventide plug-ins that we needed for Marilyn’s voice. The rack units were getting harder to find in good working order although we currently have Eventide H3000 D/SE Ultra Harmonizers on the tour for the same application.

“Over the years I’ve used the board, I’ve found ways to manipulate it and make it sound the way it needs to for this show. Maybe in the next year or two, I’ll move on to something different but it continues to do a great job and it’s one of those boards you can pick one up anywhere, as well as parts. At the moment, I’m running 48 input channels so I’m close to needing another snake head or some more channels because the board is structured around banks of 48, but in the States, the drummer’s kit is a little smaller, so we might be OK in most situations. But it’s always nice to have a few extra channels. For instance, tonight we have a guest [Mr. Depp] coming on to play guitar and I need to accommodate him.”

The subsonic element of Manson’s sound can be physically intimidating at times, however, Chapman manages to preserve intelligibility. “The music relies so much on that sub energy,” he said, “but there’s a lot of high and high-mid going on, and I have to achieve clarity within that. It‘s a fine balance of knowing which instruments you can have in those lower frequencies and which ones you want to keep out of that area while trying to control your PA system within any given environment. In the end, proper use of gain structure and hi-pass filters, and knowing the music well, are key to the job in hand.”

While Chapman applies plenty of compression on the drum overheads and bass, the kick drums and toms only have gates over them. “Some of the backing tracks go a little further than I need them to in a live situation so I have to compress them quite a bit as well as vocals. The overall mix, however, is not compressed. I run it through a Midas XL42 analogue pre-amp to warm up the general sound of the show and trim a little of the system EQ.”

Also in the outboard rack, Chapman had a pair of Avalon processors for Manson’s vocal. “The EQ section and pre-amp help to give his vocal some presence. It gives me a quick go-to EQ knob so that when he’s talking between songs, I can duck the lower end of his voice so it’s not booming all over the room.”

MIXING MONITORS

An audio pro for 10 years, Sam Coy was brought in mid-tour to take over monitors although he had already racked up some previous Manson experience. In 2009, when the band booked in to rehearse at Swing House, an L.A. company at which Coy worked, he was hired for the sessions. “As time wore on, they kept calling me for more rehearsals, even when they moved to other studios,” he said. “On this tour, I came in for the Berlin date [November 25th] and I’ve been having a lot of fun – the band are fantastic.”

Although a long-time DiGiCo user, Coy has been mixing on Avid’s smaller Venue Profile console. “It’s the standard package and, like George, I inherited the Avid situation and, for now, I’m happy with it,” commented the engineer. “My predecessor ran a lot more plug-ins than I use. In monitor world, I find that keeping things fairly basic so that the console can function a little faster and I don’t have to worry about any glitches when I’m changing from page to page. So I keep it to the must-haves, such the C6 multi-band compressor on vocals just to level all my frequencies out before they hit the in-ears.”

Externally, Coy is almost mirroring Chapman’s Eventide outboard. “The slightly detuned flavour we get with it has been such a major part of the Manson sound on his recordings, so they won’t be going anywhere in the foreseeable future.”

In the universe that Manson inhabits, microphones are a means of expression as well as regarded as disposable assets, as Matt Doherty explained: “A number of custom mic props have been developed for Manson, from the knife and AK47 versions to others shaped like a video camera or a cross. They all form part of the artist’s iconography.”

On a more functional level, the tour carried Shure UR4D diversity receivers and hand-held transmitters with SM58 capsules, four of which were main mics on a switcher while another four acted as back-ups on the same frequencies. Coy grinned: “We have to apply some damage limitation because Manson can be rough on his mics, tossing them into the crowd or dropping them – mics go everywhere!”

With 2018 already looking busy with return visits to North America and Europe, Chapman stated that there are plans to upgrade to the Axient Digital system within the year. “I’m aware that Entec has invested in a good supply of that new Shure system. I’m confident that it’ll offer a lot of improvement and a bunch of new features including frequency switching on the fly.”

For Manson alone, Coy generates six separate mixes: a left/right mix into a pair of d&b M2 wedges either side of him, facing upward and “ripping his face off”. Said Coy: “Behind him we have four ‘butt fills’ because he comes in from the rear of the stage at the start of the gig. Guitarist Tyler Bates uses a single M2; Paul [Wiley] has a pair cranked up pretty hard and although drummer Gil Sharone has one M2, I’m only sending sub frequencies through it because he on hard-wired Shure in-ears as well as a buttkicker. The M2 is a very tight-sounding monitor – you don’t have to push to get a good top end and really move some air.

“My responsibility is to get it as loud onstage as I can… and then turn it up a little more! That’s been a consistent request from the artist. I’ve measured the SPL a few times without the vocal and averaged around 104dB, so in real terms it’s probably nearer 107dB. We are, after all, trying to get over the level of the backline, so we need that kind of firepower, and the reason we have so many [18] M2s is so I can deliver as much clarity as possible.”

ABOVE THE STAGE

For the European tour, the main PA was Entec’s trusty d&b J-Series, powered by D80 amps and containing main hangs of 14 J8 boxes each with two J12s underneath. While 10 V8s were rigged per side as outfills to cover the bleachers, there were nine J-SUBs in a flown sub-array and 20 B22 subs across the front. Onstage, eight J8 sidefills and a further two B22s per side reinforced Manson’s vocals as well as covering the top outer parts of the audience.

The system was ArrayProcessed to help achieve even coverage and, according to system technician Bertie Hunter, make the sound sparkle, as he explained: “I’m amazed at the difference it can make. You can sit anywhere, even in the top row at the back of the room, and still get a good representation of what it sounds like standing at the front. In the high mids, it’s incredibly smooth and it throws very well. You certainly feel the power of the snare drum 80 metres away with the same detail.”

Unlike crews in other situations, this team does not use a venue preset as a starting point for the set-up. Hunter: “George has a certain sound that he wants me to create from the system. Now that we are this advanced into the tour, I’ve increasingly understood his preferences and how to achieve them. I did the drawing for Wembley and then come in to simulate what I think the system will do. From there, I build five or six ArrayProcessing settings and George and I listen to each one in soundcheck to see which of them will work best for the room, bearing in mind it will inevitably change during the gig, depending on temperature and humidity.”

The onstage volume was incredibly loud at Wembley, although it didn’t seem to faze Chapman, who said: “When we’ve played some of the smaller venues, however, the challenge was about how to blend the stage sound into the PA and that could be quite tricky. The thing is, it’s Marilyn Manson so it’s going to be a loud show; the audience expects that and our responsibility to make it as loud as possible without hurting people’s ears.”

Accompanying Bertie Hunter in the audio crew were Entec senior technician Peter Eltringham and monitor tech Arthur Mazzer. “I like these guys,” commented a visually satisfied Chapman. “They’ve done a great job and the d&b rig sounds fantastic, thanks to Bertie’s help. It’s fun because you can literally make it sound as good as you want it. Isn’t that every engineer’s dream? We have some more European touring with Entec coming up and I’m really looking forward to getting back with them next year.

Matt Doherty, meanwhile, was mindful of a looming golden anniversary. “Entec is the oldest full service production company in Europe and you don’t get to 50 years without doing things right,” he said. “What an achievement for a company that hasn’t sold its soul! That really appeals to me as a client and working with Noreen [O’Riordan], Adam [Stevenson] and Jonny [Clark] has been a very rewarding experience. I’ve had good crew from them every time we’ve been out together and the service back-up is always solid. So whenever I have a client that suits the Entec model, I will remain with them.”

MARILYN MANSON announces first tour since 2019, supporting FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH

five finger manson split 1600x900

Five Finger Death Punch have announced a headlining tour with Marilyn Manson and Slaughter to Prevail as support.

Though his name sits in the middle of the bill, Manson's involvement is the bombshell. The shock rocker's career has been on ice since he was accused by numerous women of sexual abuse in early 2021, most notably Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood. Embroiled in a series of court battles, Manson hasn't played a show since 2019 or released any music since his 2020 album, We Are Chaos.

The tour with Five Finger Death Punch begins August 2nd and wraps up August 19th.

Tickets are on sale Friday March 15th at 10 a.m. local time, and you can see the dates below.

Last month, he abruptly ended a Long Island show early .

Marilyn Manson to Make Comeback on 2024 North American Tour With Five Finger Death Punch

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

The post Marilyn Manson to Make Comeback on 2024 North American Tour With Five Finger Death Punch appeared first on Consequence .

Embattled shock rocker Marilyn Manson will return to the stage on a 2024 North American tour supporting headliner Five Finger Death Punch . The dates will mark Manson’s first shows since a bevy of sexual assault accusations effectively put a halt to his career.

The 26-date outing, which also features Slaughter to Prevail, kicks off August 2nd in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and runs through a September 19th show in Houston, Texas.

A Live Nation pre-sale starts Wednesday, March 13th, at 10 a.m. local time using the code KEY , while artist pre-sales begin as early as Monday, March 11th. General sales start Friday, March 15th, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster . Fans can also look for deals or get tickets to sold-out dates via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

The inclusion of Manon on the bill comes as a major surprise, considering he was essentially “canceled” following accusations of abuse by his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and several other women beginning in February 2021. A number of lawsuits ensued, and have either been settled, dismissed, or are still ongoing. Manson has denied any wrongdoing in most of the cases.
