Audacy’s We Can Survive Moves to New York City Area for 10th Anniversary

Maroon 5, onerepublic, kelly clarkson and more to rock prudential center on october 14.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – August 14, 2023 – Audacy has announced its highly anticipated, star-studded concert, “We Can Survive,” will move to New York City area for the event’s 10 th anniversary on Saturday, October 14 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

The event, hosted by NEW 102.7 FM (WNEW-FM), will feature performances from Maroon 5, OneRepublic, Kelly Clarkson and more. Part of Audacy’s ongoing I’m Listening mental health initiative, the show celebrates music’s power to unite people, strengthening mental health in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

“We Can Survive has captivated audiences over the past decade with its unforgettable performances, chart-topping artists and unwavering commitment to uniting listeners through the power of music,” said Michael Martin, Senior Vice President of Programming and Head of Music Initiatives, Audacy. “The decision to move the concert from Los Angeles to the New York City area is a testament to the event’s growth and its goal of reaching a wider audience. We look forward to connecting with our fans on the East Coast in October.”

We Can Survive continues its support of I’m Listening, Audacy’s commitment to more mental health conversations, and follows the annual I’m Listening special, a live, national broadcast that brings together artists, athletes, medical experts and others with honest conversations about mental health through authentic, open dialogue led by some of the nation’s top influencers.

“We have made tremendous progress as a society in our understanding and openness surrounding mental health. However, many of us are still unsure about what to do when someone we know is struggling. It’s time we take the next step to help those who are struggling get the help they need. AFSP’s new Talk Away the Dark campaign is a powerful reminder that learning the warning signs and having real conversations can make all the difference. We can all help,” said Robert Gebbia, Chief Executive Officer, AFSP. “This is why we are excited to partner with Audacy this year to connect people through music and inspire open, honest, and direct conversations about suicide prevention.”

Past We Can Survive performers have included music’s biggest names, including Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Jonas Brothers, Alanis Morrisette, Harry Styles, and Shawn Mendes.

Listeners can also decide who the next big music superstar will be during Opening Act. The contest, going on now, will determine who will be the opening act at We Can Survive. Voting is live at OpeningActRadio.com . The winner, who will be announced in September, will take home $10,000 and take the stage before some of the hottest acts in music today.

Tickets go on sale Friday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. ET. For more information about the “10 th Annual We Can Survive,” including ticket information, please visit WeCanSurvive.com .

Kelly Brianne Clarkson born in Texas in America, on April 24th, 1982 is an American pop and rock singer and songwriter, whose music career began in 2002.

Interestingly, the beautiful, blonde, American singer primarily craved a career in marine biology, however was later apparently put off when she watched the famous shark attack film ‘Jaws”. The Texas born girl, is the youngest of three children, her brother, Jason, actually appeared in one of her music videos.

Kelly Clarkson performed in several musicals in her hometown school, Burleson High School, including, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ and, ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’. Additionally, she also impressively sang at her school talent show, to which she received a great response and was given lots of positive feedback. Subsequently this encouraged her to peruse singing lessons and classical training.

In 2002, Kelly’s primarily emerged on the public’s radar in 2002 through the talent show, American Idol, of which she won. This was her breakthrough and since, she has never looked back. Kelly became a worldwide pop symbol!

Since the show, Kelly has excitingly sold over 20 million albums internationally, achieving and astonishing 7 singles on the highly regarded, ‘Top 10’ on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Furthermore, she has released four powerful studio albums, with three of them going platinum.

Through all her success, Kelly has also achieved a whopping two American Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, two MTV Music Awards, and 11 Billboard Music Awards. Wow.

Live reviews

Delightfully quirky and ridiculously talented, Kelly Clarkson is a once in a lifetime artist. Her shows are high energy, but not overly produced with simple sets and a rockin’ band. From the second she steps on stage, it’s clear the audience is there for one reason and one reason alone: that voice. If you’re not there for the shear euphoria of listening to Kelly sing, you might feel a bit out of place with those around you. Be prepared to hoot and holler as she hits a high note or belts a verse to perfection.

Next to her voice, the best thing about Kelly is her “This is me. Take it or leave it” attitude. She is unapologetically herself. No drama, no frills. She has no problem letting the audience in on the Hair of the Dog sloshing around in her solo cup—a necessary evil to cure a night of drunk bicycle riding at a friend’s birthday party the night before. You might even get a story or two about group yoga sessions with the band. I watched her trip once at a show in Milwaukee and twist her ankle so badly roadies had to carry her off stage—but not before hilariously raising her hands in salute to Molly Shannon’s Mary Katherine Gallagher from Saturday Night Live. You know? “Superstar!”

Perhaps a throwback to her Idol days, Kelly tends to perform a lot of covers, but each one will blow you away. From haunting versions of Florence and the Machine’s “Heavy in Your Arms”, to soaring vocals on any number of Aretha Franklin tunes, to crowd pleasing radio hits like Fun’s “We are Young,” Kelly nails every note and every line with emotion and reverence.

Whether she’s the opening act or the main event, Kelly will bring it. She’s a must-see!

I'm 66 yrs old and have attended many concerts. I had seen Elvis on 2 occasions. Of all the concerts I've seen over my years there are only 2 entertainers that I wish the show would not end and that is Elvis and Kelly Clarkson! This show was so beautiful in so many ways. First of all her VOICE is second to none. Secondly she interacts with the audience with her sharp and funny wit and humor. Thirdly I thought it was wonderful that she brought her back-up singers out with her on the runways as well as the guitar and saxophone players. Fourth, she didn't have to have dancers in the background because she DIDN'T NEED BACKGROUND DANCERS!! They would have been a total distraction from her magnificent voice and personality.

To top it off, her emotions on "Piece By Piece" brought this old man to tears. My father left when I was 7 years old and I never heard from him again until I was 39 yrs old. I "felt" her emotions and I felt mine at the same time.

I cannot say enough about how this beautiful person singing to me touched my soul. Ok, this is getting mushy so I will quit but please tell Kelly thank you from the bottom of my heart - to hers.

Kelly Clarkson shot to fame after winning American Idol way back in 2002. She has since become one of the most successful talent show contestants ever, selling over an incredible 20 million albums. I saw her perform live at the O2 in London and, judging from the way she owned the stage and the confidence that oozed from her, you would never guess she came to fame through a talent show. She performs as if it were all she was ever trained to do. She is a natural performer and has an incredible voice live. Her vocals are incredibly powerful and emotive and she manages to hit some incredible notes. Her performance was so entertaining because many of her songs are very catchy and fun, and hence easy to dance to. Even her sadder songs are incredibly catchy. Furthermore, she has enough classics that almost everyone was able to sing along to every song. Hits such as ‘Stronger’, ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’, ‘Since You Been Gone’ and ‘Breakaway’ were all performed to the delight of the entire crowd.

There are very fews singers with the same universal appeal as Kelly Clarkson. Her melodic pop has made consistent appearances on charts on both sides of the Atlantic for the last decade and she has a number of modern 00's hits such as 'Since U Been Gone'.

The lady herself is also a wonderfully charismatic personality and this helps with the overall appeal as the whole audience cheers as one as she addresses them warmly. She is a vocal powerhouse onstage as she hits a whole variety of notes with ease and really throws herself into impassioned versions of 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and 'I Forgive You'. There is break in tempo for the downplayed 'Breakaway' which makes the whole venue suddenly feel very personal and Kelly's passionate manner make the performance rather moving. The pace is picked up though for a perfect finale of 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' which are two brilliant examples of pop done so right.

If you must know, I have a love-hate relationship with reality TV. American Idol was my first foray into an addictive series and I blame it all on Kelly Clarkson. In the 14 or so years since her season, I've loved everything she's released, yet never made the time to see her in concert. This year I righted that wrong.

We didn't come to see Kelly lip-sync while doing mediocre choreography, we came to here her SING, and she did just that. From her char-toppers to her current album's tracks, I sang everyone word for word. The hoarse voice the next day was well worth it just to be there to hear her ANNOUNCE HER SECOND BABY ON THE WAY!

Glad you waited for me to be there, Kelly. Twas an honor.

Kelly Clarkson is totally, absolutely, without question, a true TALENT. She has the vocal range to sing anything, and sing it wonderfully. I saw Kelly for the Meaning of Life tour because I really liked the album, but the real gems of the show apart from her bubbly personality and amazing voice is all the hit songs.

Kelly sang all her classics and they sound fantastic, it was really great. Plus she did a cover of idontwantobeyouanymore and it was really wonderful.

Kelly was really great, and I would see her again. Of all the pop-stars I've seen, Kelly completely blew me away with her voice, just so freaking great.

of course kelly was great but....

the show opened at 7 pm and she never hit the stage until 9-9:15...she was on till 11:00 but just tool long to sit for a night... why does everyone need a warm up for them.

The ticket is for kelly Clarkson not 2 hrs of unknowns...and Kelly needs a stylist for her outfits on stage - she is too beautiful to dress like she does on stage ...and the one girl in shorts

was dresssed so inappropriately for a stage act.

Where's the glitz and glamour. She looked like she was taking an afternoon walk in the park.

NO CLASS ....Kelly let me help you dress....

I thought that Kelly Clarkson was really good!! I liked how she sang some of her old songs and some of her newer songs. I also thought she was really engaging with the audience, and that is a really good quality to have. I also liked how she got emotional in the song Piece by Piece. It shows you how much that song means to her. So, overall I thought it was a fantastic show and I would definitely go again!!!

First time seeing her live...the lady is a phenomenal performer! She is and always be “American Idol’s, First Lady”!

She served a full plate of entertainment... I feel she could have omitted the moment with the wine, in light of the audience of impressionable young children who were among the fans.

Honda civic tour tickets, shoreline amphitheatre | mountain view, california.

The Fall might be approaching but nothing will keep you from feeling warm within as the 12th annual Honda Civic Tour presents a far-fetched night of music headlining Maroon 5 with special guest Kelly Clarkson. The soulfully charismatic  voice of Rozzi Crane will prime everyone for the overwhelming awesomeness that will be happening on 2nd of October 2013, 7:00 PM at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Since 2001, the Honda Motor Company has been conducting an annual concert tour in which the audiences have the chance to win a Honda Civic customized by the featured band. This year, pop rock luminaries Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson is set to hit the road for an enervated performance.

The Grammy-award winning quintet pop rockers Maroon 5 fronted by Adam Levine has been active in making number one hits since their debut album “Songs About Jane” released in 2002 spawning internationally famed singles “This Love”, “Harder to Breathe” and “She Will Be Loved”. With their latest album Overexposed” (2012), the band brought in the no. 1 single on UK Singles Chart and no. 2 on Billboard Hot 100 chart “Payphone” as well as the “One More Night” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 9 weeks.

After winning the first season of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has been dubbed as “The Original American Idol” and also became the runner-up of World Idol. Earning multi-platinum albums, smash hit singles and innumerable inventory of awards seemed to be so natural for this American pop rocker. Her 5th album “Stronger” released in 2011 has produced international hits “Mr. Know It All” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”. “Miss Independent”, “A Moment Like This” “Breakaway” and “Since U Been Gone” are also some of her greatest songs.

With a line-up like that, you couldn’t possibly ask for anything more! Get your tickets…HURRRYYY!

Maroon 5 plans tour with Kelly Clarkson, plots new album

By Lauren Moraski

April 1, 2013 / 9:51 AM EDT / CBS News

Two musical forces are teaming up for a late summer tour.

Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson will hit the road on a tour that's set to kick off in August and wrap in October. Tour openers will include PJ Morton, Rozzi Crane and Tony Lucca on select dates.

"We are very excited to team up with the Honda Civic Tour," said Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine in a statement. "Kelly, PJ, Rozzi and Tony are all such unique and amazing artists. I'm really looking forward to hitting the road with them. Each night will be a great night of music."

Members of the Maroon 5 fan club will have access to pre-sale tickets on April 1. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning April 6.

Maroon 5, meanwhile, is looking ahead to its next release, telling The Associated Press, "We're just getting started. We've got some great songs in the can. The stuff we're working on now, it definitely has gone maybe a little darker in its sound, maybe back a little bit more to what we kind of did on (our debut) `Songs About Jane,'" said guitarist James Valentine. "But at this point we do have all kinds of different songs and it is early."

Maroon 5's last album, "Overexposed," came out in June 2012.

Update: On June 6, The Gazette reported that plans to run a zipline across the Cedar River have been called off.

Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 will headline a new festival in Cedar Rapid this summer. The newbo evolve festival will cover 25 blocks, stretching out from the Czech Village and New Bo District.

The newbo evolve festival will be a “multi-faceted festival” that “celebrates the creative Bohemian spirit through music, fashion, dance, food and technology,” according to GO Cedar Rapids, the organization formerly known as the Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. The festival (which deliberately uses all lower-case letters) is the latest program of GO Cedar Rapids (which deliberately capitalizes the “o” in its name).

In addition to musical acts, there will be a number of keynote speakers, including Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and author of the bestselling business guidebook Without Their Permission . Film director, actor and writer John Waters will return to Eastern Iowa for the fest, performing “This Filthy World,” a one-man show celebrating his career (which includes the films Hairspray (1988), Cry-Baby and the famously shocking Pink Flamingos .)

The festival’s subjects will also be broached in panel discussions. Fashion designer Christian Siriano — the season four winner of Project Runway , who now dresses A-list celebrities and designed Michelle Obama’s 2016 Democratic National Convention dress — and Queer Eye host and designer Carson Kressley will head panels. Carpenter Clint Harp, a regular on HGTV’s Fixer Upper , will participate in one of the discussions as well.

Wellness events, including yoga on the Cedar Rapids Public Library’s garden rooftop, will begin each day of programming. Bohemian-style art and garden features will be on display in the NewBo District, and guests are encouraged to try the Cedar Screamer Zip Line , up for the summer (festival pass-holders will receive a discount).

Clarkson is scheduled to take the main stage on Friday, Aug. 3 and Maroon 5 on Saturday, Aug. 4. Other musical performers, including Clarkson’s and Maroon 5’s opening acts, have yet to be announced.

Three-day passes for newbo evolve are priced at $375 and include preferred section seating for Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5, perks at local businesses, access to special events and more. Passes will be available for purchase beginning Friday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.

General admission tickets will also available for purchase beginning Friday, Feb. 9, priced at $70 for Maroon 5 and $54.50 for Kelly Clarkson.

Schedule additions and changes will be posted to the newbo evolve Facebook page .

Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson Team Up Honda Civic Tour

The pop star's ABC singing competition, "Duets," is a ratings bomb, dropping to a 1.2 in the key demo and losing to Fox's dating shows "Take Me Out" and "The Choice."

NEW YORK — Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson will team up for the late summer/early fall Honda Civic Tour, it was announced Monday. Promoted by Live Nation, the 2013 Honda Civic Tour kicks off on Aug. 1 in St. Louis and runs through Oct. 5.

Maroon 5 is billed as the headlining act on this year’s run, with American Idol season one winner Clarkson serving as a “special guest.” Rozzi Crane, Tony Lucca and PJ Morton will each be opening for the pop superstars on select dates.

Both Maroon 5 and Clarkson were highly active on the Hot 100 in 2012: the pop-rock quintet’s fourth studio album, Overexposed , included the top five smashes “Payphone” and “One More Night,” while Clarkson’s “Stronger” singles “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Dark Side” were followed late last year by “Catch My Breath,” from her Greatest Hits: Chapter One compilation. Last month, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine returned to The Voice as a coach, while Clarkson announced a new Greatest Hits single, “People Like Us.”

The 2013 Honda Civic Tour is the 12th iteration of the annual trek, which was headlined by Linkin Park and Incubus in 2012. General tickets will go on sale Saturday.

How to Watch

What to know about "This Love" by Maroon 5

Released as the second single single off the band's debut album  Songs About Jane  in 2002, "This Love" reached the number 5 position on the  Billboard  US Hot 100 charts.

In 2022,  Billboard   named the track as the second best Maroon 5 song. "The radio staple channeled the funk of James Brown, [and] the soul of Stevie Wonder," the outlet wrote.

The lyrics to "This Love" by Maroon 5

I was so high, I did not recognize The fire burning in her eyes The chaos that controlled my mind Whispered goodbye as she got on a plane Never to return again but always in my heart, oh

This love has taken its toll on me She said goodbye too many times before And her heart is breakin' in front of me And I have no choice 'Cause I won't say goodbye anymore

I tried my best to feed her appetite Keep her coming every night So hard to keep her satisfied, oh Kept playing love like it was just a game Pretending to feel the same Then turn around and leave again, but uh-oh

Split of Grace Vanderwaal and Maroon 5

I'll fix these broken things, repair your broken wings And make sure everything's all right (it's all right, it's all right) My pressure on your hips, I'm sinking my fingertips Every inch of you Because I know that's what you want me to do

This love has taken its toll on me She said goodbye too many times before Her heart is breakin' in front of me And I have no choice 'Cause I won't say goodbye anymore

This love has taken its toll on me She said goodbye too many times before And my heart is breakin' in front of me And she said goodbye too many times before

Watch Kelly Clarkson serenade a bunch of unsuspecting cafe customers

No stage? No problem.

How about a surprise Kelly Clarkson performance to go with that iced latte?

Some unsuspecting Angelenos were treated to a serenade from the original American Idol winner Wednesday when Clarkson interrupted their midday food run with an impromptu concert.

As captured on several videos posted on social media , Clarkson stopped by a coffee shop, a salad joint, and a bakery at the Platform shopping center in Culver City to belt out some songs from her upcoming album Chemistry . Though she didn't need any musical accompaniment, Clarkson did have Los Angeles-based choir Tonality on hand as she gave folks a taste of new tracks like "Favorite Kind of High" and "Me."

Alongside one video posted to Twitter, tech entrepreneur Arjun Rai noted that he was in the middle of a meeting for his startup when Clarkson and her crew arrived at the cafe. The singer performed for a bit before approaching the counter and quipping, "I would like a vanilla latte."

Clarkson's pop-up performances came as she prepares to release Chemistry , her 10th studio album, on June 23.

Heralded as a post-divorce album, Chemistry covers Clarkson's seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock , and she recently told EW that while she's "definitely very honest" in the music, some tracks written in the immediate aftermath of their split were "too truth-telling" to make the cut. "I know people will hear this record and be like, 'Oh, damn, she went there!' and I'm like, 'No, I promise you I didn't,'" she said.

In the meantime, L.A. residents should soak up the Clarkson serenades while they can. As her album release approaches, another big change is just around the corner: The Kelly Clarkson Show is moving to the East Coast, where New Yorkers will presumably await their own chance for a surprise concert.
