Can’t say enough about this crew, our tour Guide Lincoln was awesome, a lot of knowledge and made us all feel welcome . Took in some great sights and makes you want to come back and visit, which we do. If you are visiting Margaret River check these guys out they rock.

What a way to explore Margaret River. From the second I was greeted at the van door and introduced to all other members of the tour Neil made me feel very welcome. Neil is so knowledgeable on the local area and his story telling adds something extra that other tours just doesn’t have. We were a small tour and very lucky we all got on so well but this was helped by the way Neil included everyone in conversations and found out where you were from, etc. The food was fabulous every day and the accommodation was perfect. Amazing wineries, coffee, places of interest and pulling the bus over to see whales was a particular highlight. I can’t recommend McLeod tours enough.

A wondering introduction to group touring, a small group of 9 and the most wonderful friendly helpful and informative guide you could have hoped for. We were all out at ease and chatting amicably within minutes. A wonderful taste of the area south of Perth. A great variety of local eats with some wonderful food, accompanied by visits to a chocolate factory, a coffee tasting, wine tasting and more. Great points of interest, the Busselton Pier, the meeting of the Southern and Indian Oceans I could go on, wonderful accommodation, lovely personal touches. So very highly recommended. I had a wonderful time Thankyou so very much to the team at McLeods From the first contact the experience was a sheer pleasure

McLeod tours are a great friendly family business offering a very good overview of the Margaret River Region from Perth, over 3 days. The tourguides/drivers are very knowledgeable and look after the customers very well. We would highly recommend to see this great diverse region with this Company.

Busselton WA cruise port

Port Busselton WA cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Busselton WA, Margaret River, Western Australia. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

Busselton is a port city in Western Australia, with population around 25,000. Busselton is located approx 220 km (140 mi) southwest of Perth (Western Australia's capital city). The town was named after its founders - the Bussell family (four brothers and three sisters) who emigrated to Fremantle from England in 1830. Busselton (as Cattle Chosen) was officially founded in 1835 as one of Western Australia's earliest settlements. Through the city flows the Vasse River.

Since the early-20th-century, Busselton developed as a resort town and received city status in 2012. Today it is best known for the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and its coastline (between capes Yallingup and Naturaliste) popular among tourists for the camping sites and seaside resorts. Besides tourism, the current-day city's economy is also based on winegrowing (Margaret River wine region), commerce (retail shopping), manufacturing, agriculture, commercial fishing.

The city is served by two highways - Bussell (linking to Bunbury and Augusta) and Vasse (to Pemberton) Caves Road is a scenic route linking to Augusta. Buses link to Perth. Busselton Margaret River Airport (in the Yalyalup suburb) serves regularly scheduled domestic flights linking with Melbourne (Jetstar Airways) and also charter flights (by Virgin Australia) linking with Perth, Barimunya, Boolgeeda, West Angelas.

Port Busselton (locode AUBUS) has the Southern Hemisphere's longest pier (wooden jetty) with length 1841 m (6040 ft) out to sea. The jetty was constructed to serve the shipping trade but the port was closed in 1972. The jetty sustained serious damages - in 1978 (by Cyclone Alby) and in 1999 (by fire), but was later restored and improved. Since 2003, the historic pier serves as a tourist attraction offering a train ride and an underwater observatory.

Busselton is the cruise port to Margaret River Town (population around 5,000) famous for its craft breweries and surrounding wineries. The River's coast (to the west of the Town) is a worldwide famous surf break location, with a coastline of 130 km (80 mi) between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Hamelin. Here are also held major surfing competitions. Cowaramup Bombora is a big wave surf break producing some of Australia's largest waves. Margaret River Town is just 9 km (6 mi) to the east of the Indian Ocean. Margaret River Wine Region is well known for its wine production and tourism. Annually, the region is visited by 0,5+ million tourists. Margaret River Wine Region has vineyards covering nearly 55 km2 (21 mi2) and 140+ wineries, most of which are boutique wine producers.

The road distance between Busselton and Margaret River is approx 50 km / 32 mi (via Bussell Highway running north-south/southwest) or at around 40 min bus travel distance.

One of the world's premium wine-producing regions, Margaret River produces only ~3% of Australia's total grape production but holds over 20% of the country's premium wine market. The region is sized 100 km (60 mi/north-south and 27 km (17 mi/east-west). Its soil, climate (lacking extreme temperatures) and humidity levels provide perfect conditions for making dry vintage wines with high-quality fruit flavors. Grape varieties are evenly split between red and white (Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot, Sauvignon blanc, Verdelho).

Another major tourist attraction is Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. Of all the several hundred caves, only 6 are open to the public, including the Mammoth Cave located approx 21 km (13 mi) south of the town. The cave is self-guided and with disabled access.

ABOUT MCLEOD TOURS

The story of mcleod tours, margaret river.

The McLeod farm in Margaret River has been in the family for more than 100 years, and is where Neil McLeod’s story begins. You might even say tourism was in Neil’s blood from the very start – as well as running the farm, Neil’s father Dudley worked as a caves guide at the now-famous Lake and Mammoth Caves, while his mother Bernice worked at the Margaret River Hotel, built by Neil’s Grandfather Bernard McKeown in 1936 and run by the family for 36 years.

Neil’s family headed north in 1967 to Exmouth mostly because it was tough times on the farm, so their Margaret River property was leased. At 15 Neil left school and started working on “Fossil Downs” (a cattle station in the kimberley) and has worked most of his life in the North West.

In 1977 Neil worked with his brother Keith fishing for a living in Exmouth and in August that year he landed the catch of a lifetime when he met Coralie. In 1980 they were married in the Exmouth town hall with over 250 family and friend there to cellebrate the occasion. In 1982 their eldest son Daniel was born, followed by Hayden 1984, Casey in 1986 & the youngest Lincoln in 1990. For over 20 years Neil & Coralie owned and operated Ningaloo Safari Tours out of Exmouth showcasing the incredible North West Cape & Ningaloo reef. Guests from all over globe came to see the rugid cape range, breath taking beaches of the Ningaloo and hear Neils stories. In 2001 Neil won Western Australia’s highest honour for a tour guide “The Facet Golden Guide Award”. As the years went by their sons move away to the city to complete school and start their careers… So in 2005 Neil & Coralie made the decision to move back to the farm Neil grew up on in Margaret River.

McLeod Tours started with half-day scenic and cultural tours of the Margaret River region, but it wasn’t long before tours of the local wineries and breweries made the list that quickly expanded to the broad range of tours on offer today. In 2014 Lincoln the youngest son joined the business, it wasn’t a surprise to the family as Lincoln spent most of his weekends as a young boy on tours with his dad Neil and loved meeting new people and exploring.
