Festival TREK is al 10 jaar het grootste rondreizende foodfestival van Nederland en reist door de acht grootste en mooiste stadsparken van het land! Van mei tot en met september trekt de karavaan door Rotterdam, Maastricht en Utrecht, Nijmegen, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam, Tilburg een Den Haag.

De stadsparken worden omgetoverd tot een groot openluchtrestaurant, waar je kunt genieten van verrassend entertainment van jonge theatermakers, kleinkunst- en muzikaal talent gecombineerd met een divers aanbod gerechtjes dat met liefde bereid wordt in de mooiste mobiele keukens.

South jersey local news | burlington county to kick off troll trek during upcoming arts after dark festival on sept. 28, thomas dambo’s ‘big rusty’ in hainesport will soon be joined by 18 new troll friends in locations across the county.

The trolls are part of Burington County Troll Trek, a new public art exhibition organized by the Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Parks System and inspired by the Big Rusty troll created by world renown sculptor Thomas Dambo at the site of Hainesport’s future Creek Turn Park.

Big Rusty is made from mostly recycled materials found on the property, which was previously an abandoned ceramics factory. The massive statue has become a popular homage to recycling, sustainability and the power of imagination.

The new trolls are also being crafted by area artists from recycled and natural materials and are intended to help amplify Dambo’s message and provide Big Rusty some new friends.

Residents and visitors will get to meet 18 new trolls very soon, and a couple of them will be introduced at the Burlington County’s Arts After Dark festival on Sept. 28 at Historic Smithville Park, 803 Smithville Road, Eastampton.

The festival runs from 4 PM to 9 PM and will feature music and theater performances, fine art exhibits, poetry and more. The Troll Trek kickoff will be held at 6 PM and will feature the unveiling of two Smithville trolls. A map with the exact location of every troll will also be made available following the ceremony.

“Burlington County is known as a destination that embraces art, sustainability and new residents from across the globe, so it’s no wonder that trolls like Big Rusty and his new friends chose to reside in our communities,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “We were honored that Thomas Dambo selected Burlington County to be the location of one of his famous troll statues and we’re excited to welcome his new friends. We hope Burlington County residents and visitors will seek them all out and become inspired themselves to create art and protect our natural environment.”

The new trolls are being created by 16 artists or teams of artists who were selected from dozens of submissions made in response to a Burlington County Parks System prospectus. Each artist or team was awarded a $500 stipend to help cover materials and installation expenses.

The trolls and their approximate locations are highlighted in the Burlington County Parks Fall Program Guide available online at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/235/Parks .

The stipends and other costs related to the exhibition are funded by the Burlington County Commissioners and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts with support from the following co-sponsors: Mill Race Village, Main Street Mount Holly, Rancocas Valley High School Environmental Club, Rancocas Nature Center, Township of Lumberton, Delanco Environmental Advisory Board and Delanco Recreation Commission, Arts Guild New Jersey, Rising Sun Counseling Service, Bordentown City Environmental Commission and Springfield Township.

The troll locations were selected by the Burlington County Parks System and co-sponsors.

“We’re excited to welcome these new additions to our county and the attention they generate for our parks, downtowns and communities,” said Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel, the liaison to the Burlington County Department of Resource Conservation and Parks. “Hopefully, the trolls will also inspire their visitors to think more about recycling and how to reuse items before tossing them out.”

Troll Trek is the latest of several Burlington County arts initiatives supported by the Commissioners. Earlier this year, the Board approved the distribution of a record high $315,000 in grant funding for arts programs and initiatives, including the Mount Holly Fire and Ice Festival, the Burlington County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Beverly Blues Festival and the Whitesbog Preservation Trust, among others.

“Support for the arts not only helps artists and art organizations, but it also helps bring visitors and business activity to our towns, generates jobs and improves quality of life,” said Hopson. “Exhibits like Troll Trek create a sense of community and bring us all closer together. We’re proud to support it and other arts projects in our county and we’re grateful for all the co-sponsors who teamed up with us to bring these trolls to our communities.”

Vrije Tijd Amsterdam is altijd op zoek naar leuke verhalen in Amsterdam. In dat kader stelden we een aantal vragen aan Raymon van Festival Trek.

Zou je festival TREK allereerst eens willen introduceren?

“Festival TREK kenmerkt zich – naast lekker eten en drinken – door het brede entertainmentprogramma. Het Amstelpark wordt weer omgetoverd tot een Bourgondisch Dorp met daarin verschillende podia, een theatertent, een vuurtorenbar met Silent Disco, een nostalgische zweefmolen, retro platenbus en een paardenderby als onvervalste kermisklassieker. Zodra de avond valt draait een DJ de lekkerste hits van vroeger.”

Ongedwongen sfeer en lekker eten

“Festival TREK staat bekend om zijn ongedwongen sfeer. Bezoekers kunnen tijdens een rondje langs de mooiste foodtrucks van Nederland een keuze maken uit uiteenlopende gerechten: van Poké Bowls tot Quesadillas van Libanees platbrood en van de lekkerste (al dan niet vegetarische) burgers en saté tot churros met bijzondere dips. Natuurlijk ontbreken ambachtelijk friet en krokant gebakken steenoven pizza’s niet.

Lekkere drankjes, muziek en kinderen

“In combinatie met een drankje uit de verschillende (speciaal)bier-, wijn- en cocktailbars kunnen bezoekers genieten van een muzikaal optreden op een van de podia. Ouders hoeven zich in het omheinde stadspark geen zorgen te maken om hun kroost. Voor hen is er ook genoeg te beleven, met o.a. een kindertheater, kookworkshop en oudhollandse spelletjes.”

TREK in 8 grote steden

“Festival TREK staat in 8 grote steden van Nederland: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Nijmegen en Maastricht.”

Wanneer en hoe is festival TREK ontstaan?

“Festival TREK is ontstaan in 2014. We hebben onszelf de opdracht gegeven om een festival te ontwikkelen waar we zelf heel graag heen zouden gaan, zonder eerst in beperkingen te denken. Hier kwam dit concept uit: Een bourgondisch dorp, met een eigen BurgeRmeester, een priester, postbode en veel meer elementen die je in een dorp terugziet. Aangevuld met het lekkerste eten uit food trucks, een diversiteit aan wijnen, cocktails en bieren, maar ook heel veel vermaak. Hier kwam Festival TREK uit wat direct een groot succes bleek te zijn.”

Wie is de organisatie achter dit evenement?

“FOUR Entertainment uit Utrecht.”

Wat is het leukste dat jullie in de historie van TREK hebben meegemaakt?

“In juli 2018 ontvingen wij in ’s-Hertogenbosch al de miljoenste bezoeker van Festival TREK.

Deze niets vermoedende bezoekers zijn grootst onthaald door de BurgeRmeester van TREK en de pers. We hebben dit samen met hen grootst gevierd!”

Van 8 tot en met 10 juli staat TREK in het Amstelpark op het programma. Kun je alvast een paar kleine tipjes van de sluier geven?

“Laat je verrassen door de grote variëteit aan heerlijk eten, de uitgebreide selectie aan wijnen en bieren, het entertainment, theater, livemuziek, de attracties en heel veel gezelligheid. Zonder twijfel ‘the place to be’ voor dit weekend!”

Belevenis voor iedereen

“Festival TREK is door al het entertainment en de nostalgische kermisattracties een verrassende belevenis voor iedereen!”

Wat heeft het Amstelpark dat andere parken niet heeft?

“Het Amstelpark is een prachtig decor met haar mooie entree, boompartijen en grasveld. Het is aan Amsterdam om daar een mooie diversiteit aan bezoekers aan toe te voegen. Gezien de edities van afgelopen jaren hebben we daar alle vertrouwen in”, laat Raymon ten slotte namens Festival TREK weten.

TREK is back at Vroesenpark

This coming festival season, Festival TREK will again tour eight city parks after two years. The popular Vroesenpark in Rotterdam is the starting point from May 5 to 8.

The festival guarantees an intimate atmosphere, good food and drinks and surprising entertainment from young theatre makers, cabaret artists and musical talent. The festival is free and suitable for all ages. For their first order, visitors pay a one-time contribution of € 2.50 for an environmentally friendly hard plastic festival glass. This can be handed in at the bar for a new, rinsed one for every subsequent order. There is no deposit on this glassware.

The park transforms into a cozy village with the best food trucks and various bars. The wide range of entertainment includes acts and performances by regional talent. The festival grounds include a town hall, church, theatre tent and various fairground classics. In the evening, visitors can enjoy the Silent Disco and dj’s. The festival in Blijdorp is free of charge and suitable for young and old.

Festival TREK offers a stage to talent from the The Hague region

Festival TREK, the largest traveling food festival in the Netherlands, is looking for talent for the coming season. From August 30 to September 1, creative acts are eligible for a stage spot in the Westbroekpark. Festival TREK guarantees – in addition to a varied range of the most beautiful mobile food trucks – surprising entertainment from young theatre makers, cabaret and musical talent.

There is plenty of room in the Westbroekpark for acts and performances by regional talent. Festival TREK therefore calls on all singer-songwriters, (semi-acoustic) bands, cabaret artists, creative dance and theater acts from the region to register via their  website .

The “Trek” food truck festival is a nomadic event that takes place from May to September. This gastronomic caravan travels through Rotterdam, Maastricht, Utrecht, Nijmegen, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam, Tilburg, and Den Haag, bringing a delightful food experience to each location. Unlike the popular “Rollende Keukens” festival, “Trek” offered not only an array of nice dishes, but also provided a lot of seating areas and even games to keep visitors entertained.

We stared the day with some sushi from “I Love Sushi,” a well-known sushi shop with branches in several cities in the Netherlands. While the sushi was decent, it didn’t quite reach the level of being the best we’ve ever tasted.

A food truck that definetly won our hearts was the “Duck Truck,” known for its succulent duck burgers. We couldn’t resist ordering them twice because they were simply outstanding. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the tender duck meat was perfectly complemented by the accompanying toppings. If you have the chance, don’t miss out on trying their duck burgers.

For seafood lovers, “Sea Salt Saloon” was a must-visit. We indulged in Zeeuwse and French oysters that were bursting with freshness and briny flavors. As a fish restaurant in Utrecht, they certainly lived up to their reputation for serving exceptional seafood dishes. If you appreciate oysters, this is a spot you shouldn’t overlook.

However, not all our culinary adventures were without a hiccup. We decided to try the bavette from “Proeven is Geloven,” which was advertised as a wagyu A5 steak. Despite confirming twice with the vendor, the texture of the meat was far from what we expected from wagyu. Although the bavette itself was decent, it did not meet the high standards associated with true wagyu beef.

To accompany our delicious food, we sampled some red wines. Our evening began with a bottle of Elevado Tinto, a blend of Syrah and Malbec. It had a rich and fruity profile that complemented our meal perfectly. However, it was the bottle of Epicuro Negroamaro, hailing from Puglia, Italy, that stole the show. This wine had a depth of flavors and a smoothness that left a lasting impression on our palates.

In conclusion, the “Trek” food truck festival in Utrecht offered an unforgettable culinary experience. With a variety of food trucks serving mouthwatering dishes, the festival catered to diverse tastes. From sushi and duck burgers to oysters and bavette, there was something for everyone. Despite a minor disappointment with the wagyu claim, the overall atmosphere and selection of food made the event a worthwhile visit. If you find yourself in Utrecht during the festival’s season, be sure to treat yourself to an evening of indulgence and gastronomic delights.

30 jaar LETS LETS viert zijn 30-jarig bestaan in Vlaanderen en dat doen ze op 7 september in Kortrijk! Bereid je voor op een dag vol inspirerende sprekers en boeiende workshops, laat je verrassen op de inspiratiemarkt en verken bruisende en duurzame Kortrijkse initiatieven. Maak je klaar voor een dag doordrenkt met duurzaamheid, verbinding en verbeelding.

7 september: 19u00 - 21u00: hartzingen Shamballa, Ten Bosse 78 - 9800 Deinze

Tijdens deze sessie hartzingen zingen we vnl. mantra's gecombineerd met enkele andere eenvoudige liederen (zoals Native American songs, sufi-liederen of andere liederen die onze harten kunnen raken). Mantra's zijn helend, rustgevend en verruimend. Ze resoneren diep in onszelf en brengen ons in connectie met hogere krachten.

8 september: 14u00: Zwerm Gent, Leuven en Mechelen

De Zwerm, het is een hele klassieke oefening die vaak gebruikt wordt in dans en theater om groepen op elkaar te laten afstemmen. Het is zò mooi dat ik het graag wil aanbieden aan mensen in de publiek ruimte.

Het is een experiment, een kunstzinnig, sociaal experiment. Een beweging die vrede en schoonheid uitstraalt. Fijn om te doen, mooi om getuige van te zijn. En iedereen is welkom om mee aan te sluiten en weg te gaan op eigen tempo.

10 september 10u30 - 16u30: Bron Beleving in Spa

Bron Beleving in een kleine groep We brengen samen de dag door in een brongebied en voelen in het moment hoe de uitwisseling met de krachtplek vorm krijgt. We wandelen, staan stil, of gaan even zitten om onze aanwezigheid te verhogen, verbinding te maken met het water, de bomen, onszelf,... 

11 september 19u30 - 21u30: Workshop ‘De stem van de toekomstige generatie’, Ontmoetingscentrum De Schans, Schansplein 1 - 3940 Hechtel-Eksel

Het leven op Aarde stopt niet na vandaag. Ook niet over een jaar, een decennium of zelfs na jouw leven.

En toch ligt onze focus vaak op korte termijn, als het gaat om ons gedrag en beslissingen die we nemen. We kijken, over het algemeen, niet zo heel ver vooruit.

13 september: Barbarella Sleepover, Het Chalet, Rozebroekenslag 22 - 9000 Gent

Kinderen gaan graag slapen bij hun vriendjes. Maar volwassen logeren zelden bij elkaar. Hoe jammer! Wat zou er gebeuren mochten we een zacht zinderend slaapfeestje houden voor bewuste gelijkgestemde zielen, badend in gezelligheid, met ruimte voor speelsheid, avontuur en diepgang? Trek je pyjama aan, breng je slaapzak en matje en kom nieuwe vrienden maken. Zoete dromen voor de nacht gegarandeerd. En bij het ochtendgloren worden we gewekt met de geur van een heerlijk, gezond, duurzaam en lokaal ontbijt.

13-14 september: Buurland LeerFestival, Citadel - 3290 Diest

"Stel je voor: tientallen trekkers van burgerinitiatieven, tientallen sociale ondernemers, tientallen socio-culturele werkers én ook beleidsmakers, verzameld op één plek, 2 dagen, allemaal met een passie voor verandering. Allemaal buren."

14-15 september: Buurtsafari in Gent Villa Vonk, Oudenaardsesteenweg 52 - 9000 Gent

SOCIETY 4.0 is een burgerinitiatief dat uitgaat van gemeenschapskracht. Wij geloven in een ander verhaal en zien een toekomst voor Gent als sterke regio voor lokaal en sociaal ondernemerschap. Tijdens een tweedaagse buurtsafari langs Gentse vernieuwers verken je inspirerende initiatieven rond gezond, duurzaam voedsel, energie en water. Je ontdekt er pioniersprojecten rond samenhuizen, thuisonderwijs en een regionale geldmunt. Trek je wandelschoenen aan en laat je verrassen door prikkelende rondleidingen, heerlijke proeverijen en live demonstraties, verzorgd door gepassioneerde Gentse vrijdenkers.

Vrij stromende klankbeleving met viool, stem, flügelhorn, piano, gitaar, shrutibox, sympho-percussion, drum,... voorafgegaan door een begeleid bekrachtigingsmoment voor elke aanwezige om naar de volle stilte in zichzelf te kunnen keren.

18 september: Dare To Emagine - Peter Metten - De Zachte Omwenteling - Antwerpen

Met de #DareToEmagine-sessies van het Emagine-Center willen wij DROMEN en VERBEELDING terug een volwaardige plaats in de samenleving geven, omdat alle veranderingen met verbeelding starten. Tevens willen we een nieuw perspectief voor de toekomst en hoop aanwakkeren.

Per sessie nodigen we een boeiende spreker uit. Iemand die een kantelmoment heeft meegemaakt in zijn/haar leven en nu op een andere manier leeft of dingen anders doet. Een durver die ons kan inspireren en onze verbeelding prikkelen. Na de uiteenzetting gaan we met elkaar in dialoog. We ronden de avond af met een gezamenlijke droomsessie.

Op 18 september nodigen we Peter Metten uit, de organisator van het Festival van Verbinding. Hij droomt van een nieuwe wereld, van een maatschappij waarin we elkaar vertrouwen, respecteren en waarderen.

A band of trolls is coming to Burlington County, taking up residence in local parks, downtowns and other outdoor destinations as part of the Burlington County Troll Trek, a new public art exhibition.

Organized by the Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Parks System, the Troll Trek was inspired by the Big Rusty troll created by world-renowned sculptor Thomas Dambo at the site of Hainesport’s future Creek Turn Park. Big Rusty, made mostly from recycled materials found on the property of an abandoned ceramics factory, has become a popular homage to recycling, sustainability and the power of imagination.
