All of the hotels listed below are within a mile of the Pier 66 cruise terminal . This places you squarely in downtown, near many of the major attractions that Seattle has to offer. Still, a short Uber/Lyft ride can get you to the Pier 91 in about 10 minutes.

The honest truth is there are dozens of hotels that meet these requirements. We found nearly 90. For that reason, we’ve looked for the highest-rated hotels in each price point to share. Expect prices to vary. Click each hotel name to see reviews on Kayak.com

Hyatt at Olive 8 The Hyatt at Olive 8 is next door to the Paramount Hotel, putting it somewhat far from Seattle’s famous waterfront and a 10-minute walk from Pike Place Market. Still, there’s lots to see and do nearby. One of the coolest features of the hotel is its indoor pool and spa that look out onto the city. Port of Seattle

  • Smith Cove Cruise Terminal – Pier 91
  • Bell Street Cruise Terminal – Pier 66

The majority of cruise lines depart from Terminal 91. It’s the northernmost pier and is also called Smith Cove Cruise Terminal. Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Holland America use Pier 91 as their home port.

Pier 66 Bell Street Pier is the closest to downtown Seattle. Norwegian and Oceania Cruises operate from this terminal.

There is a proposal to develop Pier 46 to add cruise capacity. With a growing demand for cruises to Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast more capacity is needed than is currently available at the Piers 91 and 66. Pier 46, will continue to support marine operations and cargo.

This terminal is the southernmost pier and also the closest to Seattle-Tacoma Airport which is handy for those arriving or leaving by plane.

Does anyone know what hotels Princess uses in Seattle? We are going on an Alaska cruise in August, 2020. Do you suggest any hotels near port or downtown. The prices for hotels are $300.00 a night.

My brother and his group stayed at the Westin.  Set up by their TA with Princess transfer to ship.

There aren't any hotels near the port. Downtown hotels will run from $200 USD and up. Out near the airport hotels are cheaper .

Where to stay will depend on what time and how far before the cruise you arrive. Princess I think uses thr westin downtown for about $400 per night , this includes transfer from the airport to the ship and to the ship on embarkation day.

Homewood Suites 'Downtown' ( https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/seahwhw-homewood-suites-seattle-downtown/ - actually just over a mile south of the port) is just about the closest.  We stayed there in June and July (pre-cruise and post-cruise) 2018 and liked it and the location (nearby restaurants, walked to Chihuly Museum and Gardens, the Space Needle, and Pike Place Market (the latter was about a 1 mile walk).  Our taxi to/from the port was about $10 (a van for 7 people).

Last Summer, we stayed at the Hampton Inn Seattle Downtown on 5th Ave. North. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to the Smith Cove cruise terminals (pretty much straight East of the cruise port). The only downside of it was that the hotel was undergoing renovation and so the grounds and some areas of the hotel were kind of messy and torn up, but it was convenient, clean in the guest accessible areas and the staff was quite nice. Oh and there's the free breakfast every morning. It's just a few blocks North of the Space Needle and the attractions surrounding. The hotel also has a shuttle that will take you from the hotel to the port, sorry I didn't catch the cost (we had a private car arranged) but I'm sure it's very reasonable (e.g. maybe $7-8/per person).

I have stayed at both the Hampton and Homewood spoken of.  Both are in good locations and close to pier.  I took a cab both times.  Complementary breakfast is handy to start the day.  Homewood doesn't have lots of restaurants nearby.  There was a pub/lounge close  y but can't comment if any good as didn't eat there.  There was a handy convenience store half a block away that sold beer and wine.  Other odds and ends if you forgot to pack something.  Hampton there are also places nearby for food and drinks.  Pricing is in area is higher but convenience is being close by pier.

Queen Anne Beerhall ( http://www.queenannebeerhall.com/ ) is in the same block.  Our family group (6 adults, one toddler) enjoyed it -especially after traveling all day from the east coast.  There are other restaurants in the Queen Anne neighborhood too.  If interested just google Restaurants Near Homewood Suites Downtown Seattle and the TripAdvisor result lists many within a matter of blocks.

Double tree Hilton was the hotel Princess used near the airport in October for us. Their hotel downtown was waitlisted and I don't remember which one it was. We really liked this hotel and we were able to use the Seattle light rail to get downtown for sightseeing.  And it was a lot less than $300.

We stay at Seattle downtown 4 Points.  It is on Queen Ann Hill walking distance from space needle and the tram.  Usually have a promotion for stay, full breakfast from the menu in their restaurant and a shuttle to the peer. Close enough to the peer that a cab is about $10 plus tip.  Seattle puts so many taxes on your stay the the room rate really runs up so be sure to check final price after the outlandish taxes...they even have a tax for leaving your car in the hotel garage!

Last year we (4 family members) stayed at a La Quinta Inn near the airport for a reasonable cost for our rooms. We arrived the afternoon before embarkation, and took the hotel shuttle from airport to hotel. There were restaurants in the immediate area, as well as a liquor store very nearby (so we were able to purchase wine to take onboard on embarkation). They offered the usual free morning breakfast buffet. The rooms were comfortable, and the hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful.  We used the Seattle Express shuttle to go the port.  Definitely less pricey than a cab or car service. And our shuttle driver was great … he even gave us a mini-tour  of Seattle, complete with narration, enroute to the port. We had pre-booked the shuttle online, and bought r/t fares so that was also our transportation back to the airport at the end of the cruise. We'd certainly do the same thing if/when we go back to AK.

IMO, the fact that when you use hotels booked thru Princess, the room rate is per person , not per room, is a deterrent to using their hotels, even if they do include the transfers. One can do much better booking hotels and arranging transportation  themselves.

For large groups needing transportation to/from airport/downtown I can recommend Seattle Express.  We had a private van for our group of 7 (summer 2018) and the cost was $98 in each direction and included gratuity.

If you are going a few days before your cruise, I can suggest two hotels right in easy walking distance of all the downtown places to see and close to the monorail to the Needle.  Prices aren't too bad(book through booking.com and don't have to pre-pay).  The two I like are "The Paramount Hotel" and the "Hyatt at Olive 8."  Then you just take a taxi to the port on the day of embarkation.  Depending on traffic it will cost w/o tip, about $15-25 for two.  Total costs for these hotels range from $290-315 per night for a July visit(all taxes and fees included as base price quite different from total price!  Grin. Prices for their basic rooms are less)

Princess uses the Westin which is located in downtown Seattle and the DoubleTree which is on International Blvd right across from SeaTac Airport. (There are 2 DoubleTree hotels located in SeaTac, one by SouthCenter Mall and the one by the airport so if you go there, make sure you're talking about the right one.)

If you use the Princess transfer from the hotel to the pier, your bags will be picked up from your room on the morning of embarkation and the next time you will see them will be when they arrive at your stateroom on the ship, so make sure that you keep your travel documents with you and don't leave them in your bags! Your travel documents will be checked by pier staff at the hotel at around 7:30-8:00am and you will be loaded onto buses and depart the hotel around 10:15-10:45am. These are the normal times and may vary a bit on occasion.  If you are arranging your own transportation you may want to use the hotel concierge to arrange for transportation through Seattle Express or a limo service for pickup at the hotel.

Check the Westin prices for your timeframe. If the 2020 rate is near the 2019 rate on the Princess site, this is a very good price for a downtown hotel in Seattle and it's in a good location. It would be much better to be downtown than at the airport.

I have  to second this.   If you are arriving later in the day or early evening this is a good hotel to stay .  Easy to get to, lots of local restaurants  to walk to.   The Thai restaurant the hotel recommended is great.    We also used Seattle Express both ways.  I would only stay  Downtown if you had never been there before and you had at least a full day to see the sites.

For our Star Cruise, 9/22/19, we just paid $626 total, through Princess, for 2 nights for 2 at the Westin including transfers from the airport to the hotel and the hotel to the port. I also vote for a downtown location, as traffic was awful everywhere.

AF-1

Hello,  I stayed at the Marriott waterfront.  It is across from Norwegian Cruise Line pier.   Pikes Market is up the hill; about a five min walk.  The waterfront has lots of places to eat. Space Needle and Pop culture museum are about a mile from hotel; we took lyft to space needle; price was $4.50 for four of us.  Hotel shuttle took us to pier 91.  We paid $7 for hotel shuttle

In Seattle I stay Downtown.  The two places I've stayed there that are under $200 in August 2020 and that I can recommend (and definitely would stay at again) are:

1. Executive Hotel Pacific:

-- Currently as low as Total* $165 Friday, $185 Saturday nights in August.

-- 10 minute walk to Pike Place Market.

-- Here I prefer a High floor, nearest the corner, on the Spring Street side for a view of the Central Library.

2.  Moore Hotel:

-- Currently as low as Total* $186 Friday or Saturday nights in August for room with ensuite bathroom.

-- 5 minute walk to Pike Place Market.

-- Here I prefer the Top floor, on the 2nd Ave side for a possible peekaboo Puget Sound view.

If you cannot find a hotel in your price range, look into Stay Alfred.  I used them (through AirBNB) when we stayed in Seattle in 2016.  You can probably find something reasonable.  We stayed 5 nights at less than $150 a night and we were literally less than a block from Pike Place Market.

Just remember that if you book a hotel through Princess you will get transfers included but you will also pay roughly the hotel rack rate PER PERSON.  We prefer staying at an airport hotel and then take Shuttle Express from the airport parking garage to the ship.  If you haven't been to Seattle before you would probably want to stay downtown.  The West Coast board has lots of hotel and transportation suggestions:   https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/315-west-coast-departures/

Seattle, WA

Cruises from Seattle depart from spring through fall. The bustling Washington port known as the "The Emerald City" is both a culturally rich metropolis and a gateway to beautiful natural attractions. In the shadows of the widely recognized Space Needle, the Seattle Center is home to the city's sports arena and many museums and theaters. The lively Pike Place Market and the mammoth "Hammering Man" sculpture are downtown must-sees. Visitors also flock to the waterfront for fresh seafood, the Harbor Steps park or to board a ferry bound for Puget Sound. Seattle is served by both the Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal and Terminal 91.

The best Alaska cruises for every type of traveler

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Even with a season that only runs from April through October, there are some 40 big ships and dozens of small ships cruising Alaska , making it one of the most popular cruise destinations in the world after the Caribbean and Europe. The best Alaska cruises range from off-the-beaten-path voyages on vessels carrying fewer than 100 passengers to weeklong jaunts through the Inside Passage aboard megaships that hold thousands.

The itinerary choices are numerous in Alaska. Some ships stick to tried-and-true ports, sailing through Southeast Alaska and into western Canada. Others wander deeper along the Alaska coastline to places such as the Kenai Peninsula, north to Nome and Barrow and even deep into the Bering Sea.

Some trips hit multiple national parks; others dive into Alaska culture, allowing guests to learn the stories told by totem poles or hear about “the big one” from a fisherman at a dive bar.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

It can be hard to figure out which ship will deliver your idea of a “bucket list” experience in The Last Frontier. A lot comes down to your travel style, preferences and budget. Some travelers demand luxury, while others don’t mind going less fancy if it means close encounters with bears and other creatures in the wilderness. Some look for romance, while others want to introduce the kids or grandkids to glaciers and eagles, gold panning and sled dogs.

The good news is there’s a ship in Alaska for you no matter your taste or style. Here’s a beginner’s guide to the best Alaska cruises to help you narrow down your choices.

Best for megaresort fans

Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean both sail some of their largest ships in Alaska. They are floating megaresorts, carrying thousands, and are big on amenities, glitz and a certain amount of glamor — think flashy casinos, Broadway shows, lavish spas. Dining and drinking venues number in the dozens, while amusement park features thrill the kids and adrenaline-seekers.

Norwegian Encore

On Norwegian Encore, you can race along a go-kart racetrack, compete in outdoor laser tag and zoom down slides at the water park while you traverse Alaska’s Inside Passage. The ship sails seven-night cruises from Seattle, visiting Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia, and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve .

Related: A beginner’s guide to picking a cruise line

Ovation of the Seas

On Royal Caribbean’s Quantum-class ships, you can order a drink from a robotic bartender, try simulated skydiving or surfing experiences and take a ride in a glass capsule that travels high above your ship on a mechanical arm — a weird and wonderful way to see the Alaska scenery.

Ovation of the Seas sails round-trip from Seattle on seven-night cruises, but the exact itinerary varies by week. The ship cruises Endicott Arm for scenic views of Dawes Glacier and typically visits three Alaska ports and Victoria.

Best for land and sea adventures

You’ve traveled far to get to Alaska, and it would be a shame to miss inland sights such as Denali National Park and Preserve and the sight of Denali, North America’s largest peak — so big it’s often shrouded in clouds caused by its own weather system.

Market leaders Holland America Line and Princess Cruises both send a half-dozen ships to Alaska each year, and they have 75 and 55 years in the market, respectively.

They top the list in terms of cruises, as well as cruise tours, which combine time sailing with overnight stays on land. The companies operate their own lodges, rail cars and motorcoaches for exploration of Alaska’s interior and beyond. Many of the ships have permission to sail in Glacier Bay.

Related: The coolest things to do on an Alaska cruise

Choose from 10- to 17-night land tours that combine a standard weeklong cruise (sometimes half a cruise) with time spent exploring Alaska’s interior by bus, train or even plane.

Holland America will base six ships in Alaska in 2024, with tour offerings to Denali, Fairbanks and Anchorage.

However, it also offers nine- to 14-night cruise tours on Koningsdam that head into the Canadian Yukon, following the route of the Klondike Gold Rush from Alaska to northwestern Canada. Disembark your cruise ship in Skagway, then travel to Whitehorse and Dawson City in the Yukon before continuing on to Fairbanks (the gateway to Arctic Alaska), Denali National Park and Anchorage.

Sapphire Princess

Princess Cruises offers a cruise tour where you visit four national parks: Glacier Bay, Denali, the Kenai Fjords and America’s largest national park, Wrangell-St. Elias. The 15- and 17-night trips combine a seven-night cruise on Sapphire Princess from Vancouver to Whittier, Alaska, with another week or more on land, ending in Fairbanks or Anchorage.

Best for travelers on a budget

Older ships in Norwegian and Royal Caribbean’s fleets tend to offer more reduced prices than you’ll find on the lines’ larger and newer ships, based on the fact the older ships don’t have as many bells and whistles.

Since they have so many ships in the market, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises also tend to offer frequent sales — especially on their older tonnage. These ships have a loyal following and tend to have fewer families on board, which some couples find particularly appealing.

Related: Best time to cruise Alaska

If you’re looking for other surefire ways to save, consider sailings in the area’s shoulder season. You’ll find better deals from April to early June and in September than you will in the height of summer.

Also, in Alaska, balcony cabins are highly desirable, with everyone seeking views of the wilderness, snow-capped peaks and glaciers. As those reserves get low, the prices tend to get higher. Bargain seekers should either book early for these accommodations or choose inside, outside or guarantee cabins (where you don’t pick your room location) to save more.

Radiance of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s 20-year-old ship Radiance of the Seas mainly sails weeklong, one-way cruises between Vancouver and Seward, Alaska, with prices below $100 per person, per night, for inside and outside cabins on many departures.

However, its early-season May 2024 sailing from Seward to Vancouver is the cheapest Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise of the season. It starts at $368 per person for an inside cabin.

Grand Princess and Sapphire Princess

Princess Cruises has so many ships based in Alaska that you’re bound to find deals, especially on shoulder-season cruises. Both Grand and Sapphire Princess offer weeklong Alaska cruises in May 2024 starting from $548 per person for inside cabins. The itinerary starts in Vancouver and ends in Whittier, Alaska, with calls in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway and scenic cruising in Glacier Bay and College Fjord.

Best for off-the-beaten-path travel

Want to see and deeply experience coastal Alaska, and don’t mind a mellower environment where lectures and impromptu guitar singalongs replace casinos and show productions? Consider lines such as UnCruise Adventures , Lindblad Expeditions and Alaskan Dream Cruises, all with ships that carry fewer than 100 passengers (and in the case of Alaskan Dream, even under 20 passengers).

On these small ships, captains have the flexibility to alter itineraries and linger if the naturalist onboard spots a pod of whales or bears digging for clams on a beach.

Small ships can go places bigger ships can’t, so itineraries stretch far beyond the traditional ports. You’ll visit more remote places such as Petersburg, a fishing town with strong Norwegian roots, and Wrangell, one of Alaska’s oldest communities. Some itineraries are conducted entirely in the wild, with no port calls at all.

UnCruise Adventures

UnCruise Adventures explores Southeast Alaska on seven-, 12- and 14-night itineraries. A day might start with a morning birding expedition, continue with a kayaking adventure and end with an evening campfire ashore. You might visit LeConte and Baird Glaciers (where the big ships don’t go), plus UnCruise has the only permits for hiking and biking adventures on Chichagof Island.

Lindblad Expeditions

Lindblad Expeditions frequents off-the-beaten-path destinations in both Alaska and British Columbia, with itineraries ranging from six to 15 nights.

Guests might explore the small fishing town of Petersburg or discover native petroglyphs on the beaches of Wrangell Island in Alaska, or search for grizzly bears in Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest. Lindblad has special permits to bring passengers into the wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and the Tongass National Forest, beyond what the big ships can offer.

Alaskan Dream Cruises

Alaskan-owned Alaskan Dream Cruises’ ships carry 12 to 76 passengers to remote Native villages that rarely see visitors, with plenty of time for wildlife viewing far from the cruise ship crowds. Itineraries range from five to nine nights, from departure ports such as Sitka, Ketchikan and Juneau.

Best for families

If you’re traveling with your kids or grandkids in Alaska and want an activity- and entertainment-packed experience, target the newest and biggest ships of Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival and especially Disney Cruise Line. All have excellent camp-like activity programs for kids, plus eye-popping amusement attractions.

Disney Wonder

On Disney ships, Goofy might make an appearance as you admire soaring eagles, blue icebergs and glaciers. The extensive children’s program, entertainment and such activities as water slides and play areas deliver what you would expect from the purveyor of dreams. Bonus: Cabins are designed with families in mind and include split bathrooms (one with a toilet and sink, the other with a shower/tub combo and sink).

Discovery Princess

While lacking in whiz-bang attractions, Princess Cruises is another good choice, both for its children’s and teens program, complete with spacious facilities, and for such programming as bringing sled dogs on board, which is a hit with young passengers. The line’s newest ship, Discovery Princess, sails round trip from Seattle, a convenient U.S. home port for families to fly or drive to.

Carnival Spirit

Water slides, a partnership with Dr. Seuss and three hangouts for kids and teens make Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Spirit a great bet for families in Alaska.

The ship’s huge array of included quick eats — pizza, tacos, Guy Fieri’s burgers and unlimited soft serve ice cream — and casual atmosphere take the stress out of dining with the family. The ship sails round trip from Seattle on seven-night itineraries that call in Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, with scenic cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord.

Best for luxury lovers

If you envision sipping Champagne as you watch a glacier thunderously calve into the sea, consider booking one of the all-inclusive luxury cruise lines in Alaska: Seabourn , Regent Seven Seas Cruises or Silversea .

All these lines include ships that are experts at delivering gourmet cuisine and the other finer things in life in intimate, cushy floating environments. Additionally, all the lines are big on featuring lectures by experts, which provides passengers with a deeper insight into Alaska.

Itineraries tend to include the popular ports and beyond. You might, for instance, visit Wrangell and Prince Rupert, a port city in Canada, and linger in places such as the Misty Fjords and Prince William Sound. Seven- to 14-night sailings embark from ports such as Vancouver, Seward and Juneau.

Seven Seas Explorer

Regent’s 750-passenger Seven Seas Explorer is an all-suite ship offering guests in Alaska multiple gourmet onboard restaurants, all-inclusive beverages, free airfare and included gratuities. Many shore excursions are complimentary. Enjoy little luxuries, like an afternoon in the thermal suite of the two-story spa-and-fitness center, or really splurge out by booking the Regent Suite, the most lavish suite you’ll find at sea.

Seabourn Odyssey

The 450-passenger Seabourn Odyssey boasts an onboard expedition team and does a posh version of expedition cruising in Alaska, using inflatable Zodiac craft and kayaks.

Seabourn calls its program Ventures by Seabourn. Experts onboard these sailings include naturalists, biologists and other scientists who are members of the expedition team. Once guests finish communing with nature, they can indulge in complimentary Champagne and caviar on board or relish a meal created by famed chef, Thomas Keller.

Best for solo travelers

Solo travelers don’t always have to pay double to cruise Alaska on their own. Several ships feature cabins designed and priced for one. Single cruisers should also note that luxury lines Silversea and Seabourn, while not cheap, do a great job of taking care of single cruisers, hosting them at dinner and providing easy opportunities to meet and mingle with other travelers.

Norwegian Bliss

The ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway and Getaway classes all have cozy studio cabins designed and priced for one person. Additionally, they’re located in a complex where a private lounge encourages mingling. Norwegian Bliss offers 82 solo rooms on its round-trip Seattle cruises that visit Dawes Glacier, Sitka and Icy Strait Point.

Quantum of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s studio staterooms, on its Quantum-class ships in Alaska, give solo travelers the benefits of both decent space and balconies.

On Quantum of the Seas, choose a 101-square-foot inside cabin or a 119-square-foot ocean-view room with a 55-square-foot balcony. Either way, you get a full-size bed and plenty of space for one person. The ship sails a similar weeklong itinerary to sister ship Ovation of the Seas, round-trip from Seattle with scenic sailing along Endicott Arm.

Holland America offers ocean-view accommodations for one in Alaska only on Koningsdam. Measuring 127 to 172 square feet, these rooms come with a full-size bed and a picture window.

Koningsdam sails round trip from Vancouver to Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, with scenic cruising in Tracy Arm and Glacier Bay. Its cruises can be combined into nine- to 14-night cruise tours to the Yukon and Denali.

These Cruise Lines Will Be More Transparent About Pricing Soon — Here’s Why

Thanks to a California law, cruise lines will need to include the cost of port expenses, taxes, and other fees in its listed price.

princess cruises hotels in seattle

Alessandra Amodio/Travel + Leisure

Cruise prices are about to get more transparent thanks to a new law in California that requires cruise lines to include extra expenses like taxes and port fees in the advertised fare.

The state’s “ Honest Pricing Law ,” which goes into effect on July 1, will make it illegal for a business to advertise a price without including nearly all the required fees or charges, according to the California Department of Justice .

“Our price transparency law is about clear and honest communication with consumers, so consumers can make the financial choices that are best for them and their families,” California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement. “The law is simple: the price you see is the price you pay.”

When it comes to cruises, the law means cruise lines that operate within the state of California will need to include the cost of port expenses, taxes, and other fees in the listed price, according to the Washington Post . This affects major cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Princess Cruises, and can often add up to more than $100 per person.

"Our total advertised price will now include all government-mandated taxes, fees, and port expenses that we previously itemized separately for consumer awareness," a spokesperson for Carnival Corp. confirmed to T+L. “While this is a California state law, we are making this change nationwide to ensure our advertised pricing is consistent no matter where guests shop for our cruises.”

For its part, a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson told Travel + Leisure the cruise company would update the way it displays pricing across the U.S.

“Guests booking with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises will now see pricing that is inclusive of their selected cruise fare and all required taxes and fees,” the spokesperson told T+L. “We are also supporting our travel partners across the country ahead of this upcoming change.”

Some cruise lines, like Disney Cruise Line, already include the extra taxes and fees in the initial price, the Washington Post noted.

Representatives for Holland America Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line did not immediately respond to a request for comment from T+L.

While port fees and other required expenses must be advertised, other extras like gratuities (which many cruise lines automatically charge ), will not have to be.

Princess is launching an all-inclusive, 4-month, around-the-world cruise for $20,000— see what it'll be like

  • Princess Cruises announced a 114-day  world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
  • Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
  • Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.

Insider Today

Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.

In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .

It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.

The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.

Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.

Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.

Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.

Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.

Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.

But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.

But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.

The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.

Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .

The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.

From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.

It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.

While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.

According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.

That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.

The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.

Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.

The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.

The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.
