Top 20 goa souvenirs to pick – shopping in goa.

Goa Souvenirs is a way to take a bit of Goa with you back home. I know it is not possible to carry back its pristine sandy beaches or the carefree vibe. However, we have tried to compile a list of Goa Souvenirs for you that would keep reminding you of our sunshine state.

Souvenirs Goa

When I sat down for the list of Goa souvenirs, I figured out that besides a couple of things like Cashews and Feni, there are not many obvious souvenirs. So, we went around, asked a few people, and compiled this useful list of Goa souvenirs for you.

Goa Souvenirs Shopping

Everyone knows these things to buy, so let us get over them.

Cashew Nuts

Cashew as Goa Souvenirs

Cashew in its various forms like Cashew with peel on, salted cashew, and masala cashew is the most popular one. Cashew shops can be seen almost everywhere in the state. Serious buyers though prefer to buy it from the Panaji market. Here you have big shops with lots of variety and relatively cheaper.

Pro Tip – Chocolate Cashews or Cashews covered with a layer of chocolate is a great souvenirs for kids.

Goan Feni in Making

This is not a gift that I recommend as I have not tasted it. However, this is the most popular one. Remember there are two types of Feni that you can pick – Cashew Feni and Coconut Feni. Cashew Feni is more popular and easily available.

You can see the Feni-making process at Chitra Museum in Benaulim. In April, a cashew festival is celebrated during which you can participate in Feni making.

Stand at an airport departure lounge and you can easily point out people headed to Goa. One they are all happy and second they are dressed up to be heading for a holiday. At Miramar Beach near my home, I can see people from all over the country in their Goa wear.

So, the state has to be the best place to get your beachwear – be it Bikini, Sarongs, Shorts, Hats, or funky Flip-flops.

You will find rows of shops selling all these in colorful designs close to all popular beaches like Calangute, Baga, or Colva. You would find many honeymooners shopping here.

It’s only in the state that you get to see women wearing Bikini with Chooda.

Goan Hats

To be out in the state means to be out in the Sun. You need to cover your head. Buy a typical Goan hat – a big one for the women and a relatively smaller one for the men.

For women, they come in all possible pastel shades with colorful ribbons to go with them. For men, it is usually shades of brown and beige with a black outline. And for the experimental ones, there are palm leaf hats. Technically, they resemble the Panama Hats but of course with a bit of local touch.

Hats are one of the most popular items sold.

Pro Tip – Using hats is trick photographers use to take care of bad hair day 🙂

Handicraft Souvenirs from Goa

Azulejos tiles.

Azulejos - the hand-painted tiles

The Azulejos tiles are the best souvenirs. You would see these tiles outside Goan homes, on sidewalks, in street art, and at hotels. These colorful tiles in one glance tell of their own origins. The paintings on the tiles tell the stories of the state – its Tavernas, its Kunbi Dance, its carefree people, and its lovely landscape.

You can buy a single tile or a mug or a plate or a custom-made nameplate. You can even get your favorite family photograph painted on the Azulejos tiles.

This is a souvenir to suit all pockets – right from a small tile costing less than 100 Rs to anything costing thousands for a custom-made tile is available.

Most souvenir shops sell Azulejos. My personal favorites are the Kunbi dance tiles.

Pro Tip – Buy Mario Miranda artworks on Azulejos.

Kunbi Saris – Goa Souvenirs

Kunbi Sari - the weave of Goa

These are simple cotton Saris with large checks on them mostly in Red color worn by the local tribal women. Lately, a few designers have revived these Saris and it is being projected as the local weave. A big credit goes to Wendell Rodricks for reviving the Kunbi Sari.

You can buy a fine but costly version at the Wendell Rodricks store in Panaji or you can buy not-so-fine but cheaper versions at the local stores or village fairs.

Sea Shells Galore

Sea Shell Artifacts

In all probability, your Hotel would have welcomed you with a garland of seashells. Well, you can buy many types of jewelry made out of seashells – neckpieces, bracelets, and earrings.

You can buy lampshades, seashell curtain strings, and other items made of seashells.

Pro Tip – Just buy or pick some seashells and creatively use them to decorate your home.

Coconut Craft

Coconut Craft Artifacts

Coconut is the state fruit of Goa. It can be seen everywhere in the state. Any local would tell you that every part of the coconut is used. Coconut shells are used to make bowls and artwork. There are a few artisans who produce lovely coconut shell pieces – organic art if I can call it.

I have mostly seen these in fairs in the state.

Goa Souvenirs for the Foodies

This section will tell you what to buy in the state for your foodie friends.

Kokum or Kokum Sherbet – Goa Souvenirs

Dried & Fresh Kokum - the signature fruit of the State

Kokum is the quintessential fruit used as a souring agent in food here. It is mild with a lovely pink color. You can find fresh Kokum in summer when markets are full of them. Dried ones can be found almost around the year. Perfect to make Kokum Curry or Kokum Juice.

If you are too lazy like me, go get the packaged Kokum Sherbet. Just mix some water and it is ready to drink.

Bebinca - Goa's favorite Dessert

This is ready to eat dessert. Made from flour, eggs, coconut milk, and sugar and baked layer by layer. This is a short shelf-life souvenir but it is available in good packaging that is easy to carry. Pick it up from any supermarket or bakery.

Another popular dessert of the state is made with coconut and jaggery. Personally, I prefer this over Bebinca as it has no egg in it.

Fruit Wines

A good alternative to Feni I mentioned above is fruit-based wines. Most of these wines are homemade, made by locals from fruits in their own gardens. You would find a lot of them at many of the food festivals that keep happening around the state.

Sea Salt on sale

Do you know the state has extensive salt pans on the southern end of Mandovi, next to the Ribandar Causeway? You can buy the local sea salt at the Mapusa market. The best day to visit is Friday when the Mapusa market is buzzing with traders from across the city.

Spices

Like the rest of the coastal belt of India, this state is also a spice-producing state. Nutmeg and Triphala are the most popular spice grown here followed by Black Pepper . You can buy the spices in general markets in the state. But I would recommend you buy them in one of the spice gardens. You can get a tour of the spice gardens, have an organic meal, and pick up the local spices.

You can also buy pre-mixed masalas for the state’s traditional recipes like Xacuti Masala .

Coconut Vinegar

In the state, Vinegar is made from Coconut Toddy. It is one of the most popular ingredients in Portuguese Goan cuisine.

Bread from Goan Bakeries

Goan bakeries are always worth a visit. There are festivals where bread is celebrated. Poi – the staple food of the state is sold like milk is sold in other cities. The Bread wala comes on a bicycle with a basket full of bread to choose from. Pick up some bread as souvenirs for your foodie friends.

Flavored Tea

A variety of Flavored Tea options to choose

Now, I have no idea where all these exotic flavored teas come from. They are certainly not from the state, but I have seen them only in the state. They come in all types of spice flavors and fruit flavors. I cannot even think how the Mango tea would sound, but you have all the options to experiment.

The best place to pick these tea leaves is Anjuna Flea Market , Saturday Night Market, and Mapusa Market on Fridays.

Mario Miranda Art Works – Goa Souvenirs

Mario Miranda Art on Azulejos Tiles

The Mario Miranda Art can be seen anywhere in the state – be it the Panjim Market or the Madgaon Railway station. These artworks have become the signature exports from the state depicting the Susegad Goan life be it the fisherwomen or a Taverna.

You can buy his art on T-shirts, Azulejos Tiles, Coffee mugs, Curios, and all kinds of tourism merchandise. There are Mario Miranda galleries around the state where you can buy them, although you would find them at any souvenir shop.

My recommendation is to buy Mario Miranda Books

The Funky T-Shirts as Goa Souvenirs

Funky T-Shirts

There is no better place than flea markets to get funky T-Shirts. They have all kinds of prints including Gods and Goddesses on them. They come in all colors but the black ones remain the most popular. Team them up with hippie-style pants and sarongs.

Pop Music – Goa Souvenirs

If techno or trans music is something you have heard – go to any flea market to pick up that music. They still sell the music on CDs. I am reminded of the 90s when I see those piles of music CDs in plastic covers.

Excellent article which makes us think to visit goa

Prabhu – Treat it as another excuse to visit Goa.

Madam I will be visiting Goa shortly so buy all the souvenirs for my frds and family I found them are more fabulous If I haven’t read this then i might have miss some of the above souvenirs Thank you `

what a lot of lovely things to buy! I adore the hats – and the seashell jewellery – but know me I’d end up with cashews and other Goan food. Fascinating to see the Portuguese influence in the Azulejos too

Fiona – Goa was ruled by Portuguese for 450 years, you would see their imprint everywhere. Azulejos too came with them, though now it has been adapted and adopted by Goans.

I don’t know why chocolate covered cashews would only be for kids… I would love that too. Of course, I have a bit of a sweet tooth so I would go for the fruity wines too. Goa has so much color and flair, it would be a shame to return home without a souvenir.

Yes, of course, chocolate cashews are for everyone. I do not like chocolates so much so whenever I look at chocolate I think of children. Yes, there is something for everyone.

If I’d go shopping, I’d be most interested in the Azulejos tiles- they look beautiful! I had no idea that they were a thing to get in Goa.

Natasha – you will find Azulejos in every damn souvenir shop in Goa, but you can go to shops that see only Azulejos too.

I love the funky t-shirts and clothes, especially the beachwear. The street markets are so colourful and full of such clothes and accessories, I love it! I also like buying funky footwear from there. As for fenny, I tried it myself and did not like it at all, so I did not take it as a gift for anyone, though it does make a typical Goan gift 🙂

Medha – I guess clothes is what most people end up buying in Goa. Most people prefer Arak or fruit wines to Feni. So, you are spot on.

I’m so glad to see an article like this! Every time I travel to a new country, I google which souvenirs to take home and I always have a hard time finding a good article. Will bookmark for future travels 🙂

Happy Traveling and Souvenir Shopping, Sofia.

The bread seems really unique and the Bebinca delicious! I would buy though a tile with all the nice images from Goa daily life!

You should have bread and Bebinca while you are here and take the Azulejos with you 🙂

I really enjoy bringing home things like spices and flavored teas – it allows me to remember my time there, as I find tastes and smells have a powerful way of transporting you back to a memory 🙂 Seashells look like they would make fabulous souvenirs too lol though I would probably be tempted to try and find my own on the beach 😀

Megan – I also pick up spices, things that I can use and not just sit at home. You can find lots of seashells on beaches of Goa, though not on the touristy ones.

So much to buy in Goa! Thanks for sharing this informative post! The food really looks so delicious and the souvenir items really are so cute. That beach wears and spices are also a must buy. Thanks again for this post!

There is a lot to buy in Goa.

This is a great list! I would be buying chocolate covered cashews, shells and tea. I can’t believe how many flavours of tea you have in Goa.

Lucy – Even I can’t believe there are so many flavors of tea sold in Goa – wonder where they come from.

What a fantastic post Anuradha – I had never thought of so many souvenirs from Goa! Next time I am around, I am certainly going to buy some Azulejos Tiles, apart from joining you for a cup of chai 🙂

And maybe a Kunbi saree for my mom 🙂

This is what happens when you get too many questions about a place, you go out and find the answers. Come over, will take you shopping in Goa.

I’d have to watch my wallet in Goa, as there are so many items I’d want to purchase! I’d love to get the chocolate-covered cashews and try the coconut vinegar. I also love bringing home spices from trips I go on to incorporate in my cooking.

Good choices, Marissa. I have also started picking up consumable things as souvenirs.

I’d definitely be picking up some sea salt, spices, and the cashews – I’ve never had them so fresh and close to the source and I bet they’d be delicious. (I just realized that I’m keen on souvenirs mostly for myself and not so much for others! Oh well….)

Vanessa – when you travel a lot, you end up picking up stuff for yourself, how many can you pick up for others…good choice of local souvenirs 🙂

‘ve never been to Goa but I have been elsewhere in India and loved shopping so was very interested in your recommendations for souvenirs from Goa. I had no idea about hat making but I have a bit of a hat addiction, so this is good to know. I also adore the Portuguese style Azulejos tiles for use in the kitchen particularly. Lastly, anything foodie has my name on it, I’ve never even heard of kokum sherbet but I want it plus the spices and teas.

Kavita – how can you not visit Goa. Go, plan a trip to Goa. We will take you out for shopping.

So many more reasons why to get to Goa. Would love to bring home some of the tea and spices. Oh and one of those colorful saris.

Megan – Goa does have a million reasons to visit it, that is why I choose to live here 🙂

Oh wow, I am feeling so bad now. I visited Goa two years ago but didn’t hear anything of the sweet deserts or the Goa bread. I would love to buy a coconut bowl. I actually do like shells (who doesn’t). But many countries don’t allow you to take them with you to the plane and I think it’s a good idea. The ocean has suffered too much anyhow. If the shells are on the beach it’s fine but I don’t like it when fishermen go and hunt for shells just to sell them. Great article and obviously I missed a few good things to try out in Goa. Unfortunately I was traveling for a longer time and couldn’t take a souvenir with me, except photos.

Melanie – may be these souvenirs would be your reason to come back to Goa 🙂

It’s so hard to choose! I would love a funky tee shirt and a sunhat though. I would definitely be picking up some tea! I love tea.

Paige – tea seems to be a favorite choice with readers of IndiTales 🙂

I’ve never been to Goa, and I did not know cashews were such a top thing to buy! I definitely wouldn’t miss out on those. If I’m honest, I’d probably be very typical and shop for tea (being a Brit and all), although I love the idea of the pop art souvenirs!

Samantha – Cashews are the cash crop of Goa. They came to India via Goa with Portuguese. Now they are the best-bought souvenirs from Goa.

I totally love the Goan markets. Particularly the Panjim market for dry fruits that you pointed out, the flea markets and the shops along the way to the beach. We have been to Goa twice. We brought home a lot of cashews from there, the yellow and long ones. And then we bought bag, t-shirt, hats and a lot more. Even my little one who was just 1.5 years old loved the shops. Can’t wait to explore them again. Your article brought an air of nostalgia with it 🙂

Neha – there is so much to explore in this small state that I am still exploring after 4 years.

Woot woot….This list is so tempting and exhaustive that it compels me to plan a trip to Goa as ASAP! Never knew about this wide variety of souvenirs..well, only a localite with in-depth knowledge can churn out such a compilation. This post is sure be the most sought after list, ma’am 🙂 I have ticked my picks…and made a mini-list in an excel sheet here 😀

Come, will take you shopping in Goa 🙂

Goa is the dream destination for almost everyone and getting the best souvenirs from there would be loved by all. Thanks for sharing the amazing list.

ill be visiting Goa shortly, I really am looking forward for some cool clothes shopping. would you suggest me where at in Goa is a best place and which place is a good stay for a cottage too around for 2 nights.

Very useful information in a neatly flowing narrative. Thks

Thank you for sharing so much of information.though it will be our 4th trip to Goa,we hardly got any souviners except for cashews.Hope this time our bags are full of not only memories but also the goodies.

What to Buy in Goa ?

Clothes and Accessories

Goa is a hotspot for fashion enthusiasts; whether you’re looking for a breezy summer dress, a funky beach wear, or a Kunbi saree, Goa has you covered. And don’t forget to pick up some jewellery and trinkets. The Goan markets offer a variety of items and souvenirs that reflect the Goan spirit.

Want to take home fresh, unadulterated, and organic spices? Head straight to one of the Goan markets and explore a world of aromatic spices like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom. These spices can be purchased fresh and at good prices. Goa’s famous cashew nuts and local sweets like Bebinca are also a must-buy.

Handicrafts and souvenirs

Explore the markets and pick up intricate handicrafts, wooden carvings, and pottery to take home. These items are a reflection of Goan culture and not only serve as mementos but also support local artisans.

Pick up a bottle of Feni, an alcoholic drink made from the juices of cashews, coconuts, or apples. It is perhaps the most popular drink in the Goan state, loved by both locals and tourists. Most fenis are made naturally by hand and are not commercially produced. Cashew Feni is so rooted in Goan culture that it received a GI tag to legally protect its production.

Antiques and Curiosities

For those who love antiques, Goa offers a variety of options, from Portuguese-era furniture to vintage items and brassware.

Now all this and much more of the Goan lifestyle can be a part of your everyday life. Living in Goa is about experiencing a laid-back and culturally rich lifestyle. Wondering what to pack for a Goa trip? Don’t worry, I have got the best goa trip packing list presented in a clear no-fuss manner.

In this post, I will share with you exactly what you should pack for a trip to Goa, things to avoid carrying and basic Goa packing tips. You can simply save the list and start packing for your Goa trip without any overwhelm.

As you know, I have been to Goa over twenty times and in every age and stage of my life (as a child, a teenager, with my husband, during pregnancy, as a new mom and as a mom to a toddler!) Based on my experience of packing for a Goa trip, I can assure you that while dressing up (or down!) is far more acceptable in Goa than in other Indian states, it’s not a matter over which you should lose your sleep or get overwhelmed.

When packing for a trip to Goa, you need to carry lots of comfortable clothes, a few fancy clothes, good swimwear, comfortable footwear and sun protection.

In the article below, I discuss in detail all about the type of clothes to carry, non-negotiable skincare products needed for a Goa trip as well as items that you could leave out. Read the post below for an easy-to-follow list.

Basic Packing Tips for Goa

Before we dive into exactly what to pack, let me share a few tips that you should keep in mind when you pack for a Goa trip.

1. Sun protection is non-negotiable

The sun in Goa is harsh, even in winters. Plus to make things worse, we tend to spend large portions of the day outdoors- on the beach, at forts and other tourist attractions or riding two-wheelers.

Carrying a high-quality sunscreen is an absolute must for men and women.

I have faced severe skinburn on trips where I have forgotten a good sunscreen and my burnt skin has literally peeled and flaked for weeks after coming back from the trip. It was so embarassing that I have had to keep my sunburnt arms covered with full-sleeved shirts and jackets for a few weeks after the trip.

So learn from my mistake and buy a good sunscreen.

Get a 50+ SPF Sunscreen

2. Don’t overpack

shopping for goa trip online

All the major tourist areas in Goa have enough shops selling clothes, handbags, jewellery and swimwear for men, women and kids. You will also find medical shops in all tourist areas.

Thus, don’t overpack (to be on the safe side). If you think you’ve forgotten something, you can easily buy it for cheap in Goa.

In fact, on a number of trips to Goa, I have bought beach cover-ups and tops locally instead of carrying them to Goa from Mumbai. I find the variety of tops and beach cover ups far better and affordable in Goa than in other Indian cities.

That’s also why, many foreigners buy most of their clothing upon reaching Goa.

3. Leave space for shopping

It’s hard to not shop when in Goa.

All the major beach areas are flooded with touristy shops. Goa is also known for its cashews and cheap booze.

Many tourists thus end up shopping quite a bit when in Goa.

So make sure you leave enough space in your bags to bring back everything you buy in Goa.

4. Opt for comfortable clothing

The weather in Goa is mostly hot with temperatures ranging between 27-38 for the most part of the year. Goan weather is only pleasant during winter i.e. between November to February.

Read my article on the best time to visit Goa as per months and seasons

So even if you want to look stylish all throughout, don’t pack clothes that are not comfortable.

Avoid clothes that are-

  • of a synthetic fabric

Wearing such clothes will cause excessive uncomfortable sweating. Opt for cotton, breathable clothes in lighter shades.

5. Keep a few modest items of clothing

Goa is one place for which you can happily pull out your skimpy clothes. But reserve them for beachtime or other casual outings.

For church and temple visits, you will have to dress a bit more conservatively. Avoid sleeveless clothing or clothing above knee-length.

6. Choose the right colours (For perfect Instagram pics)

Goa clothes

If you want to click the best pics for your Instagram, get your colour game right. Here are a few quick suggestions

  • Wear bold colors for Parra Road (the famous filming location of Dear Zindagi). Bold colours beautifully contrast the pale street shades and the neutral hues of the coconut trees in the background.
  • For beach pictures – opt for dreamy neautral shades. They complement the beach colors irrespective of the time of the day and enhance the lazy, laidback vibe.
  • Wear whites in Fountainhas – Fountainhas is a street full of colourful houses. To avoid getting camouflaged with any house colour or to conflict with the colours of the street, it is safest to wear beautiful textured white clothes.

TOP TRAVEL RESOURCES

Here is a list of our favorite travel resources- the ones that I absolutely swear by when planning almost every trip. Go through this list to plan a hassle-free trip and save a lot of money!

Flight Booking: Check the availability of tickets, the best time to fly, and the cheapest fares on Skyscanner . You may also find a cheap flight via CheapOair

Accommodation: I absolutely love booking through Agoda . In most countries and particularly in Asia, I often find the best fares on Agoda. But I also love the no prepayment and no cancellation fee policy of Booking.com . For cheap accommodations and hostels, nothing beats Hostelworld .

Car Rentals: You may find and rent an appropriate car via RentalCars . It’s hassle-free and reliable.

Guided Tours: I absolutely love GetYourGuide for local sightseeing tours, walking tours, history tours, and food tours. The booking process is seamless, and the tours are super affordable. But in Asian countries, I prefer Viator or Klook for their affordably priced tours.

Lounge Access : Get Priority Pass – my personal favorite card that gives me unlimited access to premium airport lounges all over the world

What to Pack for Goa- Complete Packing List for Men & Women

shopping for goa trip online

traveller Divya

What to pack for Goa? This question might be on your mind if you are planning to visit Goa soon. Making a list of things to carry for Goa is an important step in the preparation of your trip. This way you won’t forget the essentials and avoid wasting money on buying new ones in Goa.

Things to pack for Goa will depend on a number of factors including the time of the year as well as the visitor attractions you intend to cover. Once you are aware of these things, you will be able to form the perfect packing list.

Goa is one of my favourite beach destinations. From beautiful beaches to river cruises and from old churches to spice plantations, I love it all. Based on my multiple visits to this beautiful state, I will tell you why and what to pack for Goa. In the current blog, I intend to guide you in forming this perfect packing list for Goa. You can take a quick look at the 9 essential things that you must pack for Goa in this short video:

What to Pack for Goa?

Preparing a packing list forms a very important part of my travel preparation. The list is more important if I am visiting the place for the first time. I have been caught in a couple of situations when I was in a new place and wasn’t packed well. First, I had to go around finding what I needed and then ended up buying extra of what I could have carried along from home.

Therefore, if you don’t want to make the same mistake, I would suggest you make a packing list for Goa in advance. Before I go into the details of things to pack for Goa, here is a quick overview.

Things to pack for Goa

I would highly recommend you include  10 things in your packing list for Goa. These include – Camera, Driving Licence & ID proof, Sunscreen lotion , first aid kit, bag, swimwear, sunglasses, mosquito repellant, slippers and power bank.

In order to make things simple for you, I have divided the things to pack for Goa into 5 categories- Clothes, Essentials, Footwear, Toiletries and accessories. Let me get into each one of these ones by one.

What Clothes to Pack for Goa?

Goa is a tropical state and it remains hot almost all the year-round. Therefore, there are only a few things that will vary from one season to another.

11 Things that every Woman needs to pack for Goa

1. Dresses – Depending on the length of your stay in Goa, pack as many dresses as you can. The best options are Boho dresses, sundresses and maxi dresses. Dresses are the most comfortable and stylish piece of clothing for this season. You can wear these dresses when you are out exploring the towns and cities of Goa and on the beaches.

2. Shorts – Shorts are a must-have for your Goa trip. No piece of clothing is as useful as shorts. You can pair them up with tank tops, crop tops or spaghetti tops. They are not only comfortable but they also give you the ease of movement. So, whether you wish to indulge in some water sports, go to a club or pub, or just want to visit the forts of Goa, they are a perfect choice.

3. Skirts – Skirts are a pretty good choice too. Again, these can be paired with tank tops, spaghetti tops, t-shirts, etc. If you plan to visit places of worship, pack a long skirt

4. T-Shirts and Tank Tops – T-shirts are a must carry. Pair your favourite t-shirts with shorts or pants or skirts. My personal favourite are the boyfriend T-shirts. They are not only comfortable but also look really cool with almost everything- skirts, shorts, trousers. Other than T-shirts, you could also carry some tank tops and other tops. Carry the ones that are light and preferably cotton.

5. Swim Wear – If you wish to take a swim, make sure you carry your swimwear. You can wear any type of swimsuit at the beaches in Goa, be it monokinis, bikinis or the really cool tankinis for the shy ones.  If you are not comfortable, go in for some good old shorts and a tank top.

6. Sarong/kaftan/ Cover-up Dress – If you are planning to wear a swimsuit, carry a Sarong, kaftan or a cover-up dress.  Wear them over your swimsuits and you are good to chill on the beach. I personally recommend the tasselled cover-up dresses . They are light, airy, comfortable and look really nice.

7. Palazzos – There is nothing more comfortable than these. You can wear them anywhere. You can wear them to the beaches, for churches, when you go shopping around Goa, basically everywhere. These are a very comfortable option for exploring Goa. They are airy and light and look great too. The best part is that you can wear them with t-shirts, crop tops or tank tops.

8. Loose Pants – You can also choose to wear some loose cotton pants. There are a number of options available- from classic baggy pants to dhoti pants. Pick the style that suits you the best and you are the most comfortable with.

9. Scarf – Carry a couple of scarves. These really come handy in all weather conditions. You can use them to protect yourself from the sun and also use it to cover up if you visit some religious places.

10. Light Zipper/ Shrug- Although Goa doesn’t get as cold as north India, I always make it a point to carry a thin shrug or zipper. Keeping a thin zipper or shrug will protect you from the harsh sun during your day expeditions.

11. Innerwear – Depending on the length of your trip, pack appropriate sets of innerwear.

6 Cool Outfits that Men can take for their Goa Holiday

1. Shorts – It can get annoying to constantly pull your trousers up at the beach. Shorts are a pretty great option. Therefore, get a pair or two of shorts. Wear them with tank tops, shirts or t-shirts. Go for lighter colours since they look the best on the beaches. You can also wear them when you are out exploring the towns. Avoid wearing shorts to temples and churches.

2. Shirts – Shirts go pretty well with shorts. Choose shirts that are a little loose. Printed shirts look the best with plain Bermuda shorts. Choose natural fabrics like linen, cotton, etc.

3. T-shirts & Tank Tops – Along with the shirts, take along a few T-shirts and tank tops. Cotton and linen fabrics are the best and most comfortable options.

4. Swimming Trunks/ Shorts –If you plan to do so, make sure you carry proper swimwear i.e. swimming shorts or swimming trunks. These are usually made up of nylon or polyester and therefore dry up quickly.

5. Loose Fitting Pants – Get some loose-fitting pants. You can wear these for exploring Goa, visiting places of worship, etc. Goa is the place to experiment. So, you can also try some offbeat options such as classic baggy pants to dhoti pants. Pick the style that suits you the best.

6. Trousers – If you plan to visit some of the casinos or high-end clubs in Goa, you need to follow a dress code. Make sure you pack a pair of trousers.

Some of the essentials I took to my last Goa trip. My camera, a 10000 mAH Mi power bank , sunglasses, a cap and Aadhar Card.

7 Essentials to Pack for Goa

1. ID Card – This is a must carry. It is mandatory to produce identification proof confirming a booking at all the stays in Goa. Also, make sure that you carry your driving lucence. I can vouch for the fact that there is no better way to explore Goa than on a two-wheeler.

2. Power Bank- Carry a power bank of at least 10000 mAH. I have been using a Mi power bank for some time now and it has been very useful. Power cuts are frequent in Goa, therefore make sure you carry your Power bank if you are a heavy phone user.

3. Torchlight – Coming back to power cuts, a torchlight might come in handy . Although most people use their phones, I prefer torchlight. I bought a torchlight a few months back and it has worked great for me .

4. Camera – If you are a passionate photographer, you will absolutely love Goa. There is so much you can capture. Pack your camera and lenses.

5. Sunglasses – Make sure you buy some good sunglasses to protect your eyes from the Goa heat. They needn’t be super expensive; they just need to do the job well. Choose a pair of sunglasses that are big, comfortable and offer 100% UV protection (both UVA and UVB). I found these pretty good sunglasses online . They look stylish, are UV protected and are pretty much on budget.

6. Day Bag – You need to carry a bag for all your day to day travel needs.  The bag should be big enough to hold your essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, water bottle, mobile phone, etc. Tote bags are a great choice. For guys, I would suggest messenger bags.

7. Sun Hat/ Cap – Carry a cap or sun hat. Broad rimmed hats are really helpful in protecting against the harsh sun. You can carry your own or get one of the straw hats at the beach itself.

What Footwear to pack for Goa- Are Flip flops enough?

  • Flip Flops/ Sandals – Pair your favourite dresses, shorts or swimsuits with a pair of flip flops or open sandals. Avoid wearing leather or suede flip flops, as the sand and water can stain them. This goes for men as well as women.
  • Sneakers/ Comfortable Shoes – Other than slippers carry a pair of comfortable shoes or sneakers. These are needed if you plan to indulge in some local sightseeing or wish to go for some hikes. Walking around in flip flops gets tiring at times. So, you need comfortable footwear.

What to pack for Goa

These are some of the most important toiletries you need to carry for your Goa Trip. Two most important things in this are the Sun Block lotion and mosquito repellant lotion/cream. Apart from these, carry your own face wash, moisturiser, etc.

Toiletries to pack for Goa

Mosquito Repellant – Mosquitoes have given me sleepless nights in Goa. Make sure you carry a mosquito repellant.  Trust me, you will need it.

Calamine Lotion – I always carry a calamine lotion with me . In case of an insect bite or minor allergy apply it to the skin. It relieves itchiness and soothes the skin.

Sunscreen Lotion – You must apply sunscreen to your exposed skin . Apply a good sunscreen lotion with an SPF of at least 40. Also, make sure you reapply for me every few hours.  Wash your face or simply wipe it off with a wet tissue and reapply the sunscreen.

Lip Balm – Your lips need protection from the sun too. The sun can be harsh on your lips. Choose a UV lip balm to keep your lips hydrated and protected from the sun. I have tried a lot of lip balms, over the years but I like the SPF 15 Nivea lip balms the best, they are lightly tinted with a mild fragrance. Men can opt for the untinted lip balms.

Wet Tissues – Goa can get really hot during the day. Although you can always buy them in Goa itself, sometimes a supermarket is a little far. Therefore, I always keep a few packs of wet tissues in my bag.  Carry it in your bag while you are out exploring Goa.

First Aid Kit – Carry a small first aid travel kit. Pack some band-aids, over the counter medicines for common ailments like headache, fever or stomach ache.

Hand Sanitiser – This doesn’t need any explanation. Carry a small hand sanitiser.

Moisturiser – If you are planning to stay at a hostel or one of the budget guest houses in Goa , you might not get your own toiletries, make sure you carry your own moisturiser.

Facewash, Shampoo, Soap & Conditioner – As I said earlier, not all budget accommodations in Goa will provide you with basic toiletries, so, it’s better to carry your own.

Towel, Hair Brush, Dental care and Menstrual hygiene products.

Accessories to pack for Goa

You can carry some light pieces of jewellery if you want like pendants, bracelets etc. However, I would recommend buying it from Goa itself. The markets of Goa are really fun to shop and you can pick some really cool funky jewellery.

What to Pack for Goa in Summers?

Summers in Goa typically last from Mach to May. Summer is not the best time to be in Goa. The mercury levels are through the roof, On the positive side there would be lesser crowds and you can easily find budget accommodations in Goa .

So, in case you are wondering what to pack for Goa in march or what to pack for Goa in May, here is a quick checklist.

  • Tote Bag/ Messenger Bag
  • A pair of sunglasses
  • Comfortable shoes or flats
  • Shorts (men & women)
  • Dresses (women)
  • Long skirts (women)
  • Tops (women)
  • Loose fitted pants (men and women)
  • Light shrug/ Zipper
  • Swimsuit and Sarong (for women)
  • swimming shorts (for men)
  • Medical Kit

What to pack for Goa in Monsoons?

Monsoons in Goa start from June and last up till September. Although not one of the busiest months in Goa, off late more and more people have started exploring Goa during monsoons. Visiting Goa in monsoons has its own set of pros and cons. You can enjoy the green Goa during monsoons and find the places less crowded.  Also, you can find several budget accommodations in Goa during this time.

The main disadvantage is that sometimes it can rain for hours on a stretch. Therefore, if you want to just be lazy at the beach, the monsoon is not a good time. Also, the sea is rough and you cannot go for a swim. Also, I feel that despite the rains, it feels hotter than

If you are keen to explore Goa in the monsoon and are thinking of what to pack for Goa in June, one thing is a must carry- a raincoat. You will need it. I have been using this Quechua raincoat since the last year and I would recommend you to buy this unless you already have one.

Here is a list of things to carry while travelling to goa in the monsoon:

  • T-shirts (carry 1-2 extra)
  • Shrug/ Zipper

Things to pack for Goa in Winters

Here’s what to pack for Goa during winters:

Obviously, you won't want to dance at a beach party in a sarong. When the sun goes down, you will need a change in your outfit while still maintaining your comfort level. Here's how:

8. Long skirts

Skirts that are flowy will ensure that you have the best time dancing your worries away while still feeling the air. No room for sophisticated tight mini-skirts here.

9. Maxi dresses

Be it enjoying a trance party at Curlies or simply stopping by a bar for a couple of drinks; you can never go wrong with a tropical printed maxi dress. Go for off-shoulders and side-slit maxis to spice things up.

A Towel made just for Travellers

No more packing wet and bulky towels that take forever to dry, and waste luggage space.

Hey Traveller, Do you also make the mistake of packing your regular bath towels for your trips?

What do you do when it's time to checkout, and your towel hasn't dried yet, pack that soggy towel in a plastic cover, and stink up your entire bag, or how about when the bulky turkey towel takes up all the space in your bag, now you struggle to fit in all your other stuff. plus your bag is now heavy and bulky right.

Truth be told, the Towels we use everyday are not at all suited for Travel

Gamchas/ thin cotton towels don't absorb well, and take forever to dry, bulky terry towels absorb well but take longer to dry. plus they waste baggage space..

6 Places For Cheap Shopping In Goa - The Must Visit Flea Markets

A Goan holiday would definitely mean beach and booze with lots of food to you. And why not! Thats what the blessed land is all about. A sweet escape to Goa is all about parties and shopping and getting that sexy beach tan. For a foodie, food can never be an issue here as every nook and corner serves finger licking delicacies. However, we often find the need to shop for Goan stuff that we can take back home. Like be it the famous Goan sausages, dry fish, Goan sweets like bebinca, dodol, or the lovely fenny and wine. The cheap clothes and accessories sold here are also a style statement that the state carries off very well. So, here are a few places for cheap shopping in Goa where you can shop big and shop in budget.

1. Flea Market Baga And Anjuna

The market exhibits a wide range of fancy stuff like bags, scarves, jewelry, clothes, and various other fascinating items. At this market you also have food stalls, restaurants, live music bars and more. The Baga River adds to the lovely atmosphere as the market is spread on the river bank.

The stalls at the market sell a variety of Goa's foreign denizen designed clothes and accessories. The flea market sells almost everything from head to toe. There's a fleet of restaurants, shacks, bars and more that surround the market, as well.

Similarly, if you know where to shop in Goa, you can give your wardrobe and house a complete makeover in a finger snap. The aforementioned markets may seem expensive on the first go, but, the best part about them is that you can bargain and buy your stuff at the price you wish to (in most cases). Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
