Star Trek Reveals The Enterprise's New Design as a Full-Fledged Warship

Star trek's scotty made a long-awaited confession almost 20 years after his tos debut, star trek changes its iconic tribbles forever, with shock revelation about their biology.

• The Mirror Universe in Star Trek introduces darker versions of beloved characters, like bearded Spock, and presents a brutal alternative to the utopian ideals of the Federation.
• Star Trek: Deep Space Nine resurrected the Mirror Universe and explored the story of the Terran Empire's fall, becoming a key element in the franchise.
• Mirror versions of characters like Zefram Cochrane, Jennifer Sisko, and Hikaru Sulu offer unique insights into their counterparts and provide intriguing storylines.

The Mirror Universe in Star Trek is home to the darker and more twisted versions of some of the franchise's best-loved characters. The Mirror Universe was first introduced in a memorable episode of Star Trek: The Original Series that brought the " darkest timeline " and a bearded Spock (Leonard Nimoy) into the pop culture imagination. It established the brutal Terran Empire in Star Trek canon, a darker alternative to the utopian ideals of the Federation, the facistic Empire spread across the galaxy oppressing "lesser" species.

The crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation never ventured into the Mirror Universe, although Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) did cross into the Mirror Universe-like Confederation reality in Star Trek: Picard season 2. Almost three decades after "Mirror, Mirror" aired in 1967, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine resurrected the Mirror Universe and the story of the Terran Empire. DS9 's multiple Mirror Universe episodes established the alternate reality as a key element of the Star Trek franchise, which continues to provide darker versions of beloved characters to this day.

10 Mirror Zefram Cochrane

Star Trek: Enterprise revealed that the Terran Empire was established in a darker take on the Vulcan meeting in Star Trek: First Contact . Having broken the warp barrier and attracting the attention of alien life, Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell) established the brutality and Humans first mindset of the Mirror Universe by murdering the Vulcans. Earth then used the stolen Vulcan technology to rapidly expand across the galaxy, establishing a brutal reign over the galaxy. It's a tiny scene in the cold open of the Enterprise episode "In a Mirror Darkly" but it perfectly establishes how the Terran Empire was formed.

9 Mirror Jennifer Sisko

Commander Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) was widowed when he lost his wife Jennifer (Felecia M. Bell) at the Battle of Wolf 359. As such, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine viewers only knew her through his recollections. The Mirror Universe gave Sisko a chance to reconnect with Jennifer again in multiple episodes of DS9 , and it was interesting that she maintained a peaceful outlook in the less moral universe. It was the closest that Sisko ever got to being reunited with his beloved wife, but he was aware of the problems that would arise should a reunion take place. Tragically, Jennifer was killed while attempting to escape to the Prime Universe with Jake Sisko (Cirroc Lofton).

8 Mirror Sulu

The Mirror Universe version of Lt. Hikaru Sulu (George Takei) was determined to take control of the ISS Enterprise, threatening both Mirror Spock and Prime Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) to achieve his goal. This plot point becomes archly funny in light of the George Takei and William Shatner feud that has been ongoing for decades. George Takei clearly relishes the chance to put Sulu front and center and gets to be a serious antagonist throughout "Mirror, Mirror". His Mirror Universe counterpart's thirst for command could be a hint of what's to come when Sulu takes command of the USS Excelsior.

7 Miles "Smiley" O'Brien

Miles "Smiley" O'Brien (Colm Meaney) was a slave on the Mirror Universe version of Deep Space Nine. After Mirror Sisko's death, "Smiley" became new leader of the Terran Rebellion, but still needed the positive influence of his former boss. So it was that Mirror O'Brien twice passed over into the Prime Star Trek Universe to seek the assistance of Prime Sisko to recruit Jennifer into the Rebellion and to also build them a Defiant to take back Terok Nor from the alliance. "Smiley" O'Brien remained in charge of the Terran Rebels until the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and possibly beyond.

6 Mirror Jonathan Archer

Scott Bakula's Captain Archer is one of the more interesting Mirror Universe variants, given the closeness in time to the establishing of the Terran Empire. It's therefore easier than most to see exactly how Archer was affected by Cochrane's decision to kill the Vulcans rather than shake their hands. Growing up in such a formative period for the Empire it makes perfect sense that Archer would become a ruthless and ambitious officer who set his sights on becoming Emperor. He eventually did achieve his goal, but only for a short time until his assassination at the hands of Mirror Hoshi Sato (Linda Park).

5 Emperor Philippa Georgiou

In Star Trek: The Original Series ' "Mirror, Mirror", the crew of the USS Enterprise is horrified to discover the brutality of the Mirror Universe. During Star Trek: Discovery 's Klingon War , Starfleet embraced this more pragmatic and brutal outlook by enlisting Terran Emperor, Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) to help them win the war. Georgiou went too far, but was eventually reigned in by Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) who would make a concerted effort to be a positive influence on the formerly cruel Emperor as penance for getting her Prime Universe counterpart killed.

4 Captain Gabriel Lorca

It's hard to judge Star Trek: Discovery 's Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) as a Mirror Universe variant given how little is known about the Prime Universe counterpart. However, Lorca made a much more successful attempt to infiltrate Starfleet than Mirror Kirk ever did in Star Trek: The Original Series . Having failed to depose Emperor Georgiou, Lorca found himself exiled to the Prime Star Trek Universe. Lorca replaced his Prime Universe counterpart aboard the USS Discovery to begin gathering the power he would need to make a second coup attempt. Lorca was defeated by Burnham, Georgiou and the rest of the crew of the USS Discovery. However, he's still the most compelling villain that Discovery ever produced, making him one of the best Mirror Universe characters.

3 Empress Hoshi Sato

Lt. Hoshi Sato is a hero to many , but her Mirror Universe counterpart is a stone-cold villain. Like many of her predecessors, Mirror Hoshi insidiously works against Emperor Archer to have him removed from power. Seducing his personal guard Ensign Travis Mayweather (Anthony Montgomery), she convinced the besotted young man to poison Archer. With Archer dead, Hoshi used the superior technology of the USS Defiant to threaten Earth. Declaring herself Empress Sato, she threatened to start attacking Earth's defenses if her instructions were not met. It's unclear what happened in the century between Hoshi's rise, and the later rise of Emperor Georgiou but perhaps Michelle Yeoh's Star Trek: Section 31 movie could shed new light on this period.

2 The Intendant

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 's "Crossover" is one of the best Major Kira Nerys episodes as it brings her face to face with her Mirror Universe counterpart. "Mirror, Mirror" had Kirk and his crew swap places so that they never came face to face with their own evil doppelgängers. This is what makes the Intendant character so unique, as she and Kira get to share scenes together. It's a fascinating look at what Kira could have become if the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor had never happened. The Intendant is scheming, sensual, and hell-bent on maintaining control of Terok Nor. While she retains some aspects of Kira's character, the alliance with the Cardassians proves that this is a very different version of the Bajoran.

1 Mirror Spock

The best Mirror Universe Star Trek variant is Mirror Spock because he gives hope in a hopeless universe. In "Mirror, Mirror", Spock is positively inspired by his experiences of meeting the Prime counterparts of his ISS Enterprise crew members. The implication at the end of "Mirror, Mirror" is that Spock will lead a revolution that will improve the lives of everyone in the Mirror Universe. Unfortunately, due to the Terran Empire's centuries of oppression this did not go to plan.

Seeing Spock's reforms as a sign of weakness, the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance seized their opportunity and attacked this more peaceful Empire, enslaving Terrans and Vulcans alike. It's a fascinating challenge to Gene Roddenberry's vision by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , suggesting that positive change isn't always as simple as handing a fascist regime over to a more benevolent leader. However, there's no denying that the bearded Mirror Universe version of Spock is the definitive Star Trek variant given his influence on the fate of the Terran Empire in-universe as well as popular culture at large.

This character from “Mirror, Mirror” is the first entry in EXO-6’s figure lineup from the Original Series, and the first from the evil Terran Empire — though the company has already revealed plans for an Emperor Georgiou figure to follow.

Here are all the specs from EXO-6’s announcement:

Fully Articulated Body: More than 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 30 cm tall. Realistic Portrait: Spock’s portrait is lovingly rendered by top artists, with an excellent likeness of Leonard Nimoy with a beard. Each head sculpt is specially hand-painted. Terran Empire Uniform: Meticulously researched, this uniform matches the pattern and color of the original costume recreated in 1:6 scale. Magnets are sewn into the uniform so the phaser and dagger can be attached. The Terran insignia and medals are permanently attached to his tunic.  (The uniform is not removeable.) Boots: Using leather-like material cut in the original style of the knee-high boots worn in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Mirror, Mirror.” Hands: A total of nine interchangeable hands are included so he can be displayed holding the phaser or the dagger and do the Vulcan mind meld. Display Base: A hexagonal display base featuring the transporter pad will provide additional support for the figure. Two different inserts for the floor of the base can represent the transporter pad or the center of the transporter array.

Phaser Type 2 / Type 1: T he pistol-grip type 2 phaser is the weapon of choice for any landing party expecting hostile aliens. The smaller Type 1 phaser can be removed and used separately.  Both have magnets allowing either to be worn on the utility belt or directly on the pants as they were in the 3rd season. Dagger and sheath: Standard issue for Terran Empire officers, the dagger is perfect for up close and personal assassinations. Agonizer: A device unique to the Terran Empire, one touch of the agonizer to a shoulder causes unimaginable pain. An excellent tool for adjusting the attitudes of wayward crew members.

While formal pricing will be unveiled when preorders open at EXO-6’s website on Thursday, the company noted that the Mirror Spock figure will retail at a higher price than its four previous releases, due to the well-publicized global logistics challenges facing companies all around the world and other manufacturing cost increases.

“EXO-6 has always given collectors value in every figure released. Just like every other collectible company, the recent difficulties with shipping, manufacturing and other pandemic related problems affect us as well. With this figure there will be a modest price increase, to reflect not only these difficulties but also the more complex character.”

An unfortunate situation for collectors, but an understandable one given the nature of the global supply chain impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Into the Mirror Universe, Part 1

The balance of power in the Mirror Universe has been shattered.

Driven into hiding by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance for her failures, Kira Nerys has emerged from the shadows, turning the tides of conflict in the process. Armed with classified Alliance intel and an irresistible allure, the once reviled Intendant of Terok Nor has now claimed the mantle of Terran Empress – a figurehead who is feared and beloved in equal measure by her new Terran subjects.

However, a select few have proven to be resilient to the charms of the new Terran Empress. In defiance of a Bajoran ruler, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the ISS Enterprise-D have chosen the path of resistance. This lone spark of rebellion will ignite the fires of war – a war that will decide the future of the Terran Empire.

This conflict will cause ripples across galaxies and through dimensions. All that remains is to cast the first stone. Terra Firma!

Quality of Life Improvements

Coming this update: improved Officer Filters! The officer filter screen has been extended with more options to narrow down the officers you need quicker.

Players can now filter officers by: Isolytic Damage, Warp Range, Warp Speed, Impulse Speed, Cargo Capacity, Protected Cargo, Mining speed, Crit Damage, Crit Chance, Hostile Loot, XP Reward, or Effects(Burning, Morale, Assimilated, and Hull Breach). In addition, players can filter not docked, not deployed or not away on an assignment.

Into the Mirror Universe

The Mirror Universe is available to players Operations 40 and above and includes 49 new themed systems, each containing a number of systems designated for Mirror Universe hostiles and mines. 

Players can only travel to, through, and out of the Mirror Universe systems by using Interphasic Rifts , and active ship abilities such as the Disco Jump, Gorn Eviscerator Spatial Rip or the Borg Cube Transwarp will not work. Players will also note that there is NO protected cargo, whether earned from mining or defeating hostiles.

Here’s how to access and navigate the Mirror Universe: 

• For all level-eligible players, the Mirror Universe begins in the first system with an Entry Rift (Systems are Mirror Alpha Centauri, Mirror Wolf, Mirror Sirius)
• Spend 300 Mirror Universe Entry Vouchers to use the Entry Rift and warp into Mirror Universe space
• In order to traverse deeper into the Mirror Universe, warp to and park in a Rift of your choosing and pay with the right rarity-specific Mirror Rift Keys to move to another system in that path
• There are three rarities of Mirror Rift Keys reflecting the rarity of the system it leads to; Common, Uncommon and Premium . Premium keys let you skip deeper into the MU, bypassing other systems.
• Fight new Terran hostiles for loot and mine Trellium Mines for raw trellium-a and d
• Get out of the Mirror Universe by using an Extract Rifts , found in some Mirror Universe systems. An extract or recall is only available when a ship is parked in an Extract Rift, and this is the only way to leave the Mirror Universe other than your ship being destroyed or letting the vouchers expire.
• There is no protected cargo. If your ship is destroyed in the Mirror Universe by ANY foe, cargo is lost. This includes PvE as well as PvP.

Eligible players will receive 900 free entry vouchers every 3 days with more available in the store, as well as a Day 1 gift in game to help them get started in the Mirror Universe.

Apex Barrier Modifier

An extraordinarily powerful new survivability modifier, Apex Barrier  provides  true damage mitigation  from all damage sources after all other bonuses. Every  10,000  Apex Barrier increases the damage you can take by  100% . It is the most direct, impactful way to increase your survivability in STFC . This modifier can be increased and improved through the Mirror Research Tree and Mirror Universe officers.

While Apex Barrier is both PvP and PvE, players will notice the following that will drastically change the world of PvP as we know of is thus far in Star Trek Fleet Command:

• 11 PvP only Apex Barrier nodes in the Mirror Tree
• PvP Apex Barrier officers that significantly increase survivability
• 1 Mirror Universe hostiles Apex Barrier node in the Mirror tree
• 3 new hostiles-focused Apex Barrier refits
• 1 hostiles + PvP Apex Barrier Prime

Mirror Research 

Update 67 introduces a new Research tree with unparalleled power and survivability bonuses.

Some of the new research nodes include:

• Apex Barrier in both PvE and PvP
• Ship Efficiencies for G4-G6
• Sigma G6 Cost Efficiencies
• Isolytic Defense and Damage
• +Iso damage (+50%, “Premium Isolytic Damage”)
• Syndicate XP Daily Free Claim
• PvE Hostiles Combat HHP Repair

Resources can be sourced in the following ways:

• Common is sourced via Mirror Universe
• Uncommon is sourced over time via Mirror Universe
• Rare is sourced from special targets in Mirror Universe
• Epic is sourced over time from special targets in Mirror Universe
• Premium is currently exclusive to events in-game and the store

Mirror Research is exclusive to players who participate in Mirror Universe activities, includes 75 new research nodes, and is the primary source for the new Apex Barrier modifier. 

Terran Empire Hostiles

Terran Empire Hostiles are single-target hostiles per grade and investing in the new Apex Barrier Modifier will vastly improve the chances of defeating them. These hostiles can drop two types of loot: common + uncommon. The Terran Empire Hostiles that drop uncommon not only provide greater rewards, but they WILL require Apex Barrier to defeat.

Note: Once you travel to the system “Mirror Hoeven,” players will be able to obtain both loot types.

Here’s a brief look at how these new hostiles perform during combat:

• Dismantlement: At the start of the round, if the enemy player is hull breached, this ship increases its standard damage by X% for 1 round
• Deadlock: At combat start, Hull breach enemy player for duration of combat
• Photophobia : At the start of the round, if the enemy player is hull breached, this ship increases its Isolytic damage by X% for 1 round

Mirror Universe Refinery and Liquid Trellium

After you’ve traversed through the Mirror Universe, defeated Terran Empire hostiles, and collected loot, you’ll want to use an Extract Rift to leave and make use of your haul. Players will be able to exchange raw loot for Liquid Trellium-D. Liquid Trellium-D can be used in the refinery to exchange for the following:

• Mirror Universe Vouchers: for entry to the Mirror Universe
• Mirror Dust: for the new Mirror Research Tree
• Rift Keys: for traveling deeper through Rifts into the Mirror Universe
• NX-01 Officers
• Holodeck Building materials
• Forbidden Tech
• Tokened Resources

All of the officers coming out during the Mirror Universe arc will be in the same synergy group, and when used together, can maximize survivability with a huge boost to Apex Barrier in PvP.

Epic Mirror Picard

Epic Mirror Picard is a force to be reckoned with in PvP. As the counter to Freeman, Mirror Picard shows that he is not only a useful addition to the Mirror Universe officers, but can stand alone.

• Base: 50 Big Synergy: 50 Small Synergy: 25
• 10000 / 13000 / 17000 / 22000 / 30000

Rare mirror data.

Mirror Data builds on the Assimilated state in PvP, and is part of the Apex Barrier PvP crew which increases Apex Barrier depending on the ship type the player is in.

Players will have the ability to start sourcing these officers in events starting Weekend One.

Core: Terra Rising (10 Missions | Level 34)

Following its debut last month, the new Gorn Eviscerator has a refit being launched in month one of this Mirror Universe Arc: Oblique Eviscerator. Oblique Eviscerator increases the base max cargo size for the Gorn ship as well as increases Apex Ship Parts by 50% and Gorn Eviscerator Parts by 30% in the Eviscerator Refinery.
